Description

One-hand arterial cannula

[0001] The present technology relates to a one-hand arterial cannula that allows the operator to separate the puncture needle from the catheter using the hand already held without changing the position of the hand held during the process of separating the puncture needle from the catheter.

[0002] Typically, an arterial cannula is a type of needle that is inserted into a patient's artery and connected to cardiovascular devices to perform real-time hemodynamic monitoring and can also be used to draw blood.

[0003] Arterial cannulas are broadly categorized into a puncture needle equipped with a needle for insertion into a patient's artery and a catheter that remains in the patient's artery after the puncture needle is detached from the artery together with the puncture needle.

[0004] Here, the catheter has a flexible gel-coated tube, which allows blood collection without damaging the artery even when the patient moves.

[0005] To insert a conventional cannula into a patient's artery, an experienced practitioner uses both hands to avoid damaging the artery. If the practitioner is right-handed, the right hand is used to hold the cannula and position it for insertion into the artery, while the left hand is used to ensure that the artery is clearly visible outside the skin or to ensure that the artery is in a straight shape during the cannula insertion process.

[0006] Meanwhile, cannulas can show a large difference depending on the level of experience of the operator. For example, many mistakes occur in the process of inserting the catheter while the cannula is inserted into the artery. This can occur when the needle is removed after the cannula is inserted into the artery, causing the Zelko tube not to be inserted deep into the artery due to the unconscious movement of pulling the needle back, or conversely, the needle is inserted too deep. Furthermore, when the needle is manipulated with both hands, the position of the injection needle may shake slightly, causing it to come off or be damaged from the artery, which can lead to a medical accident.

[0007] That is, when a right-handed operator secures an arterial line from the outside with his or her left hand, holds the cannula with his or her right hand, inserts the injection needle into the artery, and then holds the outer surface of the catheter with his or her left hand while changing the grip position with his or her right hand to separate the puncture needle, mistakes that occur frequently, both large and small, in the process of changing positions depending on the operator's experience.

[0008] In order to solve the above-described conventional problems, the present invention provides a cannula that allows the practitioner to separate the puncture needle from the catheter while already holding the catheter without having to change the positions of the grips with both hands during the process of separating the catheter from the puncture needle, thereby preventing medical accidents.

[0009] In order to solve the above-described conventional problems, the present invention provides a one-hand arterial cannula comprising a puncture needle (100) equipped with an injection needle (110) to be inserted into an artery, and a catheter (200) equipped with a gel-coated tube (210) that is detachable from the puncture needle (100) and wraps around the injection needle (110), wherein the cannula is characterized in that it includes a separation means (300) that is supported by the puncture needle (100) and connected to the catheter (200) to advance the catheter (200) by an external force.

[0010] In addition, the separation means (300) includes a ring portion (310) exposed to the outside of the puncture needle (100) and a wire (320) having one end connected to the ring portion (310) and the other end connected to the catheter (200), and it is preferable that the wire (320) generates power by pulling the ring portion (310) so that the catheter (200) can advance and be separated from the puncture needle (100).

[0011] In addition, it is preferable that the wire (320) be supported to move by contacting the curved portion (120) formed on the puncture needle (100).

[0012] In addition, it is preferable that the curved portion (120) further has one or more grooves (121) formed into which the wire (320) can be inserted without being dislodged.

[0013] According to the present invention, unlike the conventional method, the process of inserting a cannula into an artery and then detaching the catheter from the puncture needle can be performed using one hand, which is frequently used by the operator, thereby preventing medical accidents that may occur in the past due to holding the puncture needle and catheter alternately with both hands.

[0014] FIG. 1 is a perspective view illustrating a one-hand arterial cannula according to the present invention.

[0015] Figure 2a is an exploded perspective view of Figure 1.

[0016] FIG. 2b is a drawing showing a wire inserted into a groove for a one-hand arterial cannula according to the present invention.

[0017] Figure 3 is a drawing illustrating a process of inserting a one-hand arterial cannula according to the present invention into an artery.

[0018] Figure 4 is a drawing showing the catheter advanced by pulling the ring portion after Figure 3 is executed.

[0019] Figure 5 is a drawing showing a state in which a catheter is inserted into an artery after Figure 4 is executed.

[0020] Hereinafter, a one-hand arterial cannula (hereinafter, simply referred to as “cannula”) according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the attached drawings.

[0021] Before the explanation, the puncture needle (100) described below is provided with a needle (110) that can be inserted into an artery through a patient's skin, and the catheter (200) is a conventional arterial cannula formed with a gel-coated tube (210) in the shape of a flexible tube (PIPE) that is detachably inserted into the puncture needle (100) and wraps around the outer surface of the puncture needle (110). In order to clearly convey the gist of the separation means (300), which is the gist of the present invention, a detailed description of the puncture needle (100) and the catheter (200) will be omitted.

[0022] In addition, although the catheter (200) of the present invention is shown to be equipped with a control means (220) for controlling the amount of blood discharged to the outside through the gel-coated tube (210) according to the degree of pressure applied to the ball (Ball: 221), it should be noted that this is only one embodiment and it is also possible to use a catheter without the control means as needed (see FIG. 5).

[0023] First, as shown in FIG. 1, FIG. 2a and FIG. 2b, the separation means (300) according to the present invention is configured to provide an external force to separate a catheter (200) inserted into the puncture needle (100) without changing the position of the hand holding the puncture needle (100), and largely includes a ring portion (310) and a wire (320).

[0024] For example, the ring part (310) is exposed to the outside of the puncture needle (100) to have a predetermined length through a wire (320) to be described later, and the operator's finger is inserted to provide an external force that can pull the wire (320).

[0025] The ring portion (310) is illustrated as a ring shape, but is not limited thereto, and preferably, the operator's middle finger (the third finger out of five fingers) is inserted through it so that an external force can be provided to pull the wire (320) by pulling the middle finger.

[0026] Meanwhile, in the present invention, when the operator's middle finger is inserted into the inner surface of the ring portion (310) and a pulling action is performed, a number of protrusions (311) may be formed protruding toward the center point of the ring portion (310) for the purpose of preventing slippage.

[0027] And, the above wire (320) is formed to have a predetermined length using a synthetic resin material that does not have elasticity, and one end is connected to the rear of the catheter (200), and the other end is connected to the ring part (310).

[0028] The length of the wire (320) is not limited, but a preferred length is a length that allows the operator to advance the catheter (200) so that it can be completely separated from the inside of the puncture needle (100) by pulling the ring (310).

[0029] At this time, as illustrated, the wire (320) is preferably positioned over the curved portion (120) formed at the bottom of the puncture needle (100) so that the wire (320) slides by friction with the curved portion (120) through the pulling of the ring portion (310) to provide an external force that allows the catheter (200) to advance.

[0030] Thus, in the process of pulling the ring portion (310), the wire (320) is supported by the curved portion (120) having a curved shape, so that it can slide easily, and at the same time, the stress applied to the wire (320) due to friction is minimal, so that damage such as breaking does not occur in the process of pulling the ring portion (310).

[0031] At this time, a groove (121) can be formed in the curved portion (120) so that the wire (320) can move smoothly without detachment during the sliding process, and the groove (121) is formed so that the groove shape is not vertical but has a right angle shape, as shown, but a stopper is formed at the top so that the wire (320) inserted into the groove (121) can move without detachment, thereby satisfying a structure.

[0032] Meanwhile, if the operator determines that the catheter (200) has advanced by pulling the loop (310) and the gel-coated tube (210) has stably penetrated the inside of the artery, the operator can cut the wire (320) to prevent secondary damage (e.g., damage in which the loop gets caught and the catheter comes off the artery during the patient's movement) from occurring due to the pressed wire (320) (see FIG. 5).

[0033] At this time, it is preferable to cut the cut portion of the wire (320) so that the portion of the wire (320) connected to the catheter (200) is cut, that is, so that the remaining length of the wire (320) in the catheter (200) is maintained to a minimum.

[0034] Hereinafter, the method of using the cannula (1) according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the attached drawings.

[0035] Before explaining, I would like to explain using an example where the practitioner is right-handed.

[0036] First, as shown in FIGS. 3 to 5, the practitioner uses the left hand to ensure that the artery of the patient to be treated can be visually confirmed from the outside of the skin, and the practitioner performs the procedure by holding the outer surface of the puncture needle (100) with the thumb and index finger while the middle finger of the right hand is inserted into the ring (310) so that the injection needle (110) can be inserted through the artery together with the gel-coated tube (210).

[0037] In this state, the operator applies an external force that can pull the wire (320) connected to the ring (310) by bending the stop, and the catheter (200) inserted inside the puncture needle (100) is advanced by this external force, so that the gel-coated tube (210) inserted into the corresponding artery can be inserted more deeply.

[0038] During this process, the operator's left hand is freed to manipulate medical devices such as cardiovascular devices.

[0039] Finally, when the catheter (200) is separated from the puncture needle (100) and becomes free by pulling the ring part (310), the operator completely separates the puncture needle (100) from the patient, and the catheter (200) inserted into the artery is fixed to the patient's skin using an adhesive such as multifix (not shown).

[0040] In the process of the puncture needle (100) being completely separated from the catheter (200), blood existing in the artery flows out through the gelco tube (210). In this case, the operator pushes or pulls the control means to close the gelco tube (210) and prevent blood from flowing out. Only when in use, the control means opens the gelco tube (210) to monitor blood flow through the cardiovascular device.

[0041] As described above, the cannula (1) according to the present invention is different from the conventional one in that it allows the operator to perform the entire process of inserting the cannula (1) into an artery and then separating the catheter (200) from the puncture needle (100) using one hand, which is frequently used, thereby preventing conventional medical accidents that may occur due to holding the puncture needle (100) and catheter (200) alternately with both hands.
