Description

[0001] DESCRIPTION

[0002] JW PROFILE WHEEL RIM

[0003] Technical Field

[0004] The invention is related to the structure and production of rim profile used particularly, in the wheels of tractors, agricultural vehicles and industrial heavy equipment. The rim profiles within the scope of the invention are able to be used in the wheels of tractors, agricultural vehicles and industrial heavy equipment having different widths ranging from 24" diameter to 54" diameter.

[0005] State of the Art

[0006] In the state of the art, tractors, agricultural vehicles and industrial heavy equipment are designed and produced with W, DW or TW profile rims, which are then assembled with a disc component. Subsequently, they are combined through a welding operation and transformed into a wheel.

[0007] In the application of this technique, since the rim profile used is W-type and inner diameter of the rim is larger, it is necessary to produce disc with larger flange diameter by using more raw materials. While W-type profile offers production convenience due to being a single-stage rim, it presents disadvantages in terms of strength and tire mounting, resulting in customer dissatisfaction.

[0008] Another profile used in the state of the art is DW-profile rim, which has 2 inch smaller inner diameter than W profile. In this case, disk component to be produced will be assembled to the rim such that it has smaller flange diameter by using less raw material. DW-type profile, being a two-stage rim, not only provides a stronger rim structure but also eliminates the dissatisfaction caused by tire mounting in W-profiled rims.

[0009] In the state of the art, TW-profile rims being an advanced form of DW profile has been designed and begun to be produced. TW-profile rim has the same inner diameter as DW-profile rims. Therefore, disc component with smaller flange diameter is used in TW-profile rims. TW type profile has stronger rim structure owing to being three-stage rim. In addition, tire mounting is easier than DW- profile rims. In the state of the art, tractors, agricultural vehicles, industrial heavy equipment which have become stronger with the developing technology with the wheels produced by W and DW-profile rims have needed tires and rims to meet the need of more load capacity because of increasing load capacity of such vehicles. As a solution, tire structure, sidewall and beads have been made stronger, hard and durable. However, problem has occurred in mounting internal structure of tire strengthened due to this capacity increase with the wheels with W and DW- profile rim. Particularly, this has become an undesirable situation in the places where tire wheel mounting has been performed by automation. Additionally, wheels with W and DW-profile rims were unable to meet such increased tire load capacity. Demand for easier tire assembly and stronger conditions, staged rim profiles which are appropriate for automation has arisen together with these developments. In the state of the art; for the designs made depending on the recent standards during the processes of W, DW and TW-profile rims, excessive flatness in radius passes among the stages, difficulty to form the shape in the process together with the thickness effect of the material cause disadvantages such as non-quality product and high scrap ratios. Necessary strength increase is based on the principle of increasing moment of inertia and profil rigidity according to the centerline (CL) of the wheel rim.

[0010] As displayed in W-profile section in Figure-2; in the sizes specified in National and International standards, symmetrical axis is formed by sidewall level connected to the convex radius end point with 15 degree where wheel rim bead level is connected and connection of concave Radius to the wheel rim flange, rim bead level connected to this level and with the section axis.

[0011] In DW-profile section displayed in Figure-3; in the sizes specified in National and International standards, symmetrical axis is formed by sidewall level connected to the convex Radius end point with 15 degree and rim radial axis of concave Radius connected to this level, DW parallel level parallel to the axis and convex Radius connected to this level end point, a second sidewall level connected to this radius with minimum 15 degree and connection of concave Radius connected to this level to the wheel rim flange, rim bead level and with the section axis. In TW-profile section detail displayed in Figure-4; in the sizes specified in National and International standards, symmetrical axis is formed by connection of concave Radius connected to convex Radius end point by tangent connected to concave Radius end point by tangent connected to concave Radius end point by tangent connected to convex radius tangent to which wheel rim flange and rim bead base are connected to the rim base level and with the section axis.

[0012] Considering the examinations and researches; unsuccessful solutions to the wheel rim profiles in the state of the art; in other words, insufficiency of the present solutions made development in the relevant technique necessary.

[0013] Objective of the Invention

[0014] JW profile wheel rim within the scope of the invention consists of two main components and is produced according to the design and standards of W, DW or TW-profiles and disc geometry.

[0015] Associated invention has been produced as a product providing high performance against stresses and impacts in the application areas as well as its two-stage strong design, more load capacity, easier tire mounting than W or DW and TW profiles.

[0016] Geometry of JW rim profile within the scope of the invention consists of two stages and wheel is made by assembling the disc into wheel by pressing and joining by welding which enables high durability.

[0017] Thanks to JW rim profile consisting of two stages, it is aimed at meeting the need of the desired load capacity, easy tire mounting and thus, time and cost benefit.

[0018] In associated invention, following wheel tire fitting bead on both sides, convex radius, big concave radius has been designed and analyzed and once again, convex radius has been connected to the base level with small concave radius. Thus, scrap ratio has decreased and higher quality product has been acquired and, in this way, the rim meeting the expectations has been acquired.

[0019] Radiuses used on the invention have been designed as R15 for convex radius, R50 for big concave radius and R9 for small concave radius. According to the result of FEA analysis (Finite Element Analysis) conducted with this design, profile mechanical values where stresses are lower have been acquired. [0044] Y. Vertical section axis p. Angle Disc(20) displayed in Figure-1 is the part carrying the rim (30) and connecting it to the shaft system of the vehicle and having connection holes (22) on it for wheel hub / stud. Rim is the part on which tire bead is seated and tire is supported. It forms a fitting surface for tire. Assembly connection is called as the joining by using welding process or connection elements. Rim (30) within the scope of the invention is made by using disc(20) and welding process. Alternatively, assembly can also be made by rim(30), disc (20) connection holes (22).

[0045] Associated invention is named as the JW profile wheel rim used in the wheel (10) of tractors, agricultural vehicles and industrial heavy equipment ranging from 24" diameter to 54" diameter. The invention is related to JW rim profile part used in order to create a product with higher load capacity than the current ones, easy tire mounting, high durability and performance. Wheel (10) within the scope of the invention consists of two sections and is joined by welding process. Disc (20) and rim(30) parts are assembled under press and joined by welding in this associated wheel (10).

[0046] Wheel (10) rim (30) consists of wheel rim flange (32), rim bead level (34), curved area(36) and rim base level (38) to which curved area is connected. Disc (20) is assembled to the area of rim base level (38) by pressing and fixed to the vehicle body or hub by connection holes (22) located on associated disc (20). Wheel (10) rim (30) within the scope of the invention has been designed symmetrically according to the vertical section axis (Y) that is vertical to the radial axis(X). Wheel (10) rim (30) is tire mounting part and tire is easily assembled.

[0047] JW profile wheel rim section detail displayed in Figure-5, in the sizes specified in National and International standards, rim (30) rim flange (32) is made by detailing on the curved area (36) that is connected to the rim bead level (34). Symmetric half of the wheel is formed by connection of small concave Radius (D) connected to the convex Radius (C)end point by tangent connected to concave Radius (B) end point by tangent connected to convex Radius (A) tangent connected to the rim(30) rim flange (32), rim bead level (34) to the rim base level (38) with the section axis. Connection between convex Radiuses (A,E) of JW profile wheel rim section detail displayed in Figure-6 creates an angle(p) between the plane passing from the tangent points (Rl, R2) of Convex radiuses (A,E) and radial axis (X) of the wheel (10). Difference of the profile within the scope of the invention is the structure of curved area (36). When forming rim (30) on the curved area (36), convex radius (A) 15mm(between 9.5 mm- 20 mm) is connected by tangent to the rim base level (38) of small concave Radius (D) 9 mm (between 6 mm- 30mm) connected by tangent to said convex Radius (C) of convex Radius (C) 15mm(between 9.5 mm- 20 mm) connected by tangent to said concave Radius (B) of small concave Radius(B) 50 mm(between 35mm-75mm) connected by tangent to said convex Radius (A) end point of convex Radius (A) 15mm(between 9.5 mm- 20 mm). Angle (p between the rim radial axis (X) of the rim(30) profile within the scope of the invention and the plane (Z) passing from the tangents of convex Radiuses (Rl, R2) has been calculated as 30° and the angle (p) may have a value between 20° - 60°§.

[0048] Another difference of the invention from the rims in the state of the art and specified in ETRTO standard used internationally is that it does not have side wall levels connected to the end point of convex Radiuses on DW profile. Thus, less material is used and less thinning is ensured on the section thickness of the material and easily shaped. And, tires having hard side wall and beads produced according to these sizes defined in the invention are assembled and inflated. It is ensured that tire easily goes up from the designed curved area (36) and rim base level (38) during tire mounting and reaches rim bead level (34) and inflated by using tire inflation pressure values. Symmetrical rim base level (38) formed according to the section axis (Y) vertical to the rim radial axis (X) of the rim (30) profile within the scope of the invention, more horizontal and curved area (36) on both sides and accordingly, rim bead level (34) and rim flange (32) forms a housing for tire. Tire leans towards the rim bead level (34) of the tire bead and the rim flange (32) and makes the air inside impermeable and creates appropriate usage conditions.
