Abstract
Description
Prediction Device
[0001] The present disclosure relates to a prediction device.
[0002] The state in which corrosion progresses due to exposure of reinforcing bars to the outside air caused by cracks or spalling of concrete in reinforced concrete structures (RC structures) is generally considered to be the lifespan (service limit) of the RC structure (see Non-Patent Documents 1-3). Therefore, once the reinforcing bars are exposed (hereinafter referred to as "exposed reinforcing bars"), the RC structure is considered to have reached its service limit, and immediate repairs or replacements are carried out.
[0003] In addition to the aging of infrastructure structures, it is predicted that the number of personnel responsible for maintaining infrastructure structures will decrease in the future. This will require further efficiency in infrastructure maintenance and management, and it is predicted that infrastructure structures will need to be operated to their full capacity.
[0004] As mentioned above, conventionally, RC structures after reinforcement exposure have been considered to be at the limit of their service life, and their behavior has not been fully understood (see Non-Patent Document 4). Therefore, no method has been established to predict the deterioration of structures after reinforcement exposure.
[0005] RC structures with cracks or exposed reinforcement are repaired by repairing cross sections, etc. However, it is not clear to what extent cracks or exposed reinforcement should be repaired when cracks or exposed reinforcement occur in only a portion of an RC structure. Furthermore, when cracks or exposed reinforcement occur due to corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete caused by salt damage or carbonation, corrosion may be progressing over a large area inside the concrete, and the cracks or exposed reinforcement may only be apparent in a small area.
[0006] Therefore, it is important to understand the extent of corrosion of rebar in areas of undeteriorated concrete near cracked or exposed reinforcement, where concrete deterioration is not apparent, but there are no fully established methods for doing so. Therefore, the general method is to determine the extent of corrosion by visually checking the extent of corrosion along the line of the rebar from the exposed reinforcement during the process of chipping the concrete at the repair site, and then determine the extent of repair.
[0007] There are electrochemical methods for measuring the corrosion state of unexposed rebars. Typically, the potential measurement method conforming to ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) C876 (see Non-Patent Documents 5 and 6) is applied. This method involves exposing the unexposed rebars and measuring the potential difference between the exposed rebars and a reference electrode installed on the concrete surface to obtain a potential map of the surface under investigation. The corrosion area is then estimated from the obtained potential map. However, this method requires exposing the unexposed rebars to connect the electrodes, and it is not a definitive diagnosis. Therefore, visual inspection by chipping out the rebars tends to be preferred over potential measurement methods. Furthermore, electrochemical measurement is difficult when cavities exist within the concrete due to jump forces or corrosion expansion of the rebars.
[0008] To predict the future structural strength of a structure, it is necessary to estimate the strength by finite element analysis under conditions that reflect the future deterioration state (see Non-Patent Document 7).

[0010] As mentioned above, it is not clear how the exposed reinforcement expands in reinforced concrete structures after the reinforcement is exposed. In the exposed reinforcement, corrosion of the rebar near the boundary between the exposed and unexposed reinforcement progresses concrete spalling. Furthermore, the larger the extent of corrosion of the rebar in the unexposed reinforcement, the more significant the expansion of the exposed reinforcement.
[0011] It is desirable to repair not only exposed reinforcement but also unexposed reinforcement, but because the extent of rebar corrosion near the exposed reinforcement is unknown until the reinforcement is removed, it is difficult to estimate and determine the extent of repair in advance. Therefore, even if repairs are carried out, if the unexposed reinforcement is not repaired sufficiently, there is a risk that further repairs will be required in a short period of time.
[0012] Therefore, there is a need for technology that can predict the deterioration of unexposed rebar from the obvious deterioration in reinforced concrete structures, such as cracks or exposed rebar.
[0013] The purpose of the present disclosure, made in consideration of the above-mentioned problems, is to provide a prediction device that can predict deterioration of reinforcing bars in unexposed reinforcement bars from apparent deterioration in reinforced concrete structures.
[0014] In order to solve the above problem, the prediction device disclosed herein is a prediction device that predicts the progression of deterioration of a reinforced concrete structure that includes multiple reinforcing bars extending in a predetermined direction, and is equipped with: a first designation unit that designates a deterioration area in each of the multiple reinforcing bars where the reinforcing bars have deteriorated based on the position of the deteriorated part in the reinforced concrete structure where deterioration is apparent and the arrangement of the multiple reinforcing bars; a second designation unit that designates a rectangular area where deterioration of the reinforcing bars is inferred, with one side being the length of the deterioration area in the predetermined direction and the other side being the distance to a predetermined reinforcing bar that is aligned with the reinforcing bar that includes the deterioration area; and a third designation unit that, if the analogy area designated corresponding to the deterioration area includes other deterioration areas, designates the reinforcing bars included in the analogy area as an extended deterioration area where deterioration is not apparent.
[0015] According to the prediction device of the present disclosure, deterioration of reinforcing bars in unexposed reinforcement bars can be predicted from the apparent deterioration in a reinforced concrete structure.

[0017] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present disclosure will be described with reference to the drawings.
[0018] FIG. 1 is a diagram illustrating an example configuration of a prediction device 10 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The prediction device 10 according to the present disclosure predicts the progress of deterioration of a reinforced concrete structure including a plurality of reinforcing bars extending in a predetermined direction. In this embodiment, the reinforced concrete structure is described as an example of a reinforced concrete structure (RC structure) including a plurality of reinforcing bars extending in a predetermined direction, but the present disclosure is not limited to this. The reinforced concrete structure may also be a structure made of other materials, such as a thermosetting resin, as long as it includes a plurality of reinforcing bars extending in a predetermined direction.
[0019] In the following description, the reinforced concrete structure is a manhole 1 buried underground as shown in FIG. 2A, and the progress of deterioration in the ceiling portion (slab) 1A of the manhole 1 is predicted. FIG. 2B is a diagram showing the state of looking up at the ceiling portion 1A from inside the manhole 1. As shown in FIG. 2B, a plurality of reinforcing bars 2A to 2E extending in a predetermined direction (x direction) are arranged side by side in the y direction in the ceiling portion 1A. In the following description, when there is no need to distinguish between the reinforcing bars 2A to 2E, they will be referred to as reinforcing bars 2. Although the reinforcing bars 2 cannot be seen because they are buried inside the concrete, the following description also illustrates the reinforcing bars 2 for ease of explanation.
[0020] As shown in Figure 1, the prediction device 10 of this embodiment includes a degradation area designation unit 11 as a first designation unit, an analogy area designation unit 12 as a second designation unit, an extended degradation area designation unit 13 as a third designation unit, and a repair range output unit 14 as an output unit.
[0021] The deterioration area designation unit 11 receives deterioration information and placement information. The deterioration information is information regarding the location of apparent deterioration in the reinforced concrete structure, such as cracks or exposed reinforcement. The deterioration area designation unit 11 receives, as deterioration information, for example, a photographed image of the ceiling portion 1A of a manhole 1, as shown in FIG. 3A , showing apparent deterioration such as cracks or exposed reinforcement. Deterioration of the reinforced concrete structure includes exposed reinforcement of several centimeters to several tens of centimeters, leakage of rust fluid, minute areas of exposed reinforcement where aggregate has fallen out, and surface-wide concrete lift or cracks. The placement information is information regarding the placement of the rebars 2 that constitute the reinforced concrete structure. The placement information can be obtained, for example, from a design drawing of the reinforced concrete structure. The placement information can also be obtained, for example, by rebar detection using electromagnetic waves.
[0022] The deterioration area designation unit 11 designates the position of a deteriorated portion in a reinforced concrete structure where deterioration has become apparent, based on the input deterioration information and placement information. In an actual reinforced concrete structure, deterioration such as cracks or exposed reinforcing bars may occur in a position that is different from the position where the reinforcing bars 2 are placed. This deviation is thought to be caused by the progression of cracks in the concrete. Furthermore, deterioration such as cracks or exposed reinforcing bars occurs due to corrosion of the reinforcing bars 2. Therefore, it is thought that the reinforcing bars 2 closest to the apparent deterioration have deteriorated due to corrosion. As shown in FIG. 3B , the deterioration area designation unit 11 designates a rectangular area along the extension direction (x direction) of the reinforcing bars 2, including the apparent deterioration, as the deteriorated portion.
[0023] The degradation area designation unit 11 designates a degradation area in each of the multiple reinforcing bars 2 where the reinforcing bars 2 have deteriorated, based on the designated deteriorated portion. Specifically, as shown in Fig. 4, the degradation area designation unit 11 designates an area of the reinforcing bars 2 that overlaps with the deteriorated portion as the deteriorated area. In the example shown in Fig. 4, the degradation area designation unit 11 designates an area of the reinforcing bars 2A, 2C, and 2D that overlap with the deteriorated portion as the deteriorated area. Furthermore, if the deteriorated portion does not overlap with the reinforcing bar 2, the degradation area designation unit 11 designates an area of the reinforcing bars 2 nearest to the deteriorated portion, whose position in the extension direction (x direction) of the reinforcing bar 2 coincides with the position of the deteriorated portion, as the deteriorated area.
[0024] In this way, the deterioration area designation unit 11 designates the deterioration area in each of the multiple reinforcing bars 2 where the reinforcing bars 2 have deteriorated, based on the position of the deteriorated part in the reinforced concrete structure (RC structure) where deterioration has become apparent and the arrangement of the multiple reinforcing bars 2.
[0025] Referring back to FIG. 1, the degraded region designation unit 11 outputs the result of designating the degraded region to the analogous region designation unit 12 .
[0026] The analogy area designation unit 12 designates an analogy area in which deterioration of the reinforcing bar 2 is inferred from the deterioration area designated by the deterioration area designation unit 11. Fig. 5A is a diagram showing an example of a deterioration area in the ceiling portion 1A of the manhole 1, and Fig. 5B is a diagram showing another example of a deterioration area in the ceiling portion 1A of the manhole 1.
[0027] Fig. 6A is a diagram showing an analogous region designated by the analogous region designation unit 12 for the degraded region shown in Fig. 5A. Fig. 6B is a diagram showing an analogous region designated by the analogous region designation unit 12 for the degraded region shown in Fig. 5B.
[0028] There is a high possibility that the reinforcing bars 2 in the vicinity of the deteriorated area are deteriorated in the same manner as the deteriorated area. Therefore, as shown in FIGS. 6A and 6B , the analogy area designation unit 12 designates a rectangular area as an analogy area, where the length of one side is the length of the deteriorated area in a predetermined direction (x direction) and the length of the other side is the distance to a predetermined reinforcing bar 2 aligned with the reinforcing bar 2 including the deteriorated area. The examples in FIGS. 6A and 6B illustrate an example of designating a rectangular area as an analogy area, where the length of one side is the length of the deteriorated area in a predetermined direction and the length of the other side is the distance to an adjacent reinforcing bar 2 from the reinforcing bar 2 including the deteriorated area. Note that no reinforcing bars 2 are present in the opening in the ceiling 1A. Therefore, if an opening exists in a rectangular area where the length of one side is the length of the deteriorated area in the predetermined direction (x direction) and the length of the other side is the distance to a predetermined reinforcing bar 2 aligned with the reinforcing bar 2 including the deteriorated area, the analogy area designation unit 12 does not designate the area as an analogy area.
[0029] Referring back to FIG. 1, the analogous region designation unit 12 outputs the result of designating the analogous region to the extended deteriorated region designation unit 13 .
[0030] As shown in FIG. 6A , when an analogous region designated corresponding to a deteriorated region includes another deteriorated region, the expanded deteriorated region designator 13 designates the reinforcing bar 2 included in the analogous region as an expanded deteriorated region. An expanded deteriorated region is a region in the reinforcing bar 2 that is likely to be deteriorated similarly to the deteriorated region designated by the deteriorated region designator 11, but where the deterioration is not apparent. In the example shown in FIG. 6A , for example, the analogous region designated corresponding to the deteriorated region of the reinforcing bar 2C includes the deteriorated region of the reinforcing bar 2D. In this case, as shown in FIG. 7A , the expanded deteriorated region designator 13 designates a region in the reinforcing bar 2D that is included in the analogous region designated corresponding to the deteriorated region of the reinforcing bar 2C as an expanded deteriorated region. Furthermore, the expanded deteriorated region designator 13 designates a region in the reinforcing bar 2C that is included in the analogous region designated corresponding to the deteriorated region of the reinforcing bar 2D, other than the deteriorated region, as an expanded deteriorated region.
[0031] Furthermore, as shown in Figures 7A and 7B, if the analogy area specified corresponding to a deteriorated area does not include any other deteriorated areas, the extended deteriorated area designation unit 13 designates the deteriorated area as an independently deteriorated area. An independently deteriorated area is a deteriorated area in which deterioration does not progress around it. If the analogy area specified corresponding to a deteriorated area does not include any other deteriorated areas, it is considered that the deterioration is not caused by a progressive factor such as corrosion, but by a non-progressive factor such as impact load. Therefore, if the analogy area specified corresponding to a deteriorated area does not include any other deteriorated areas, the extended deteriorated area designation unit 13 designates the deteriorated area as an independently deteriorated area.
[0032] In each of the extended degradation region and the single degradation region, there is a possibility that degradation may progress due to a specific event. Therefore, if the rate of progression of degradation in each of the extended degradation region and the single degradation region is known, the extended degradation region designation unit 13 may expand the extended degradation region and the single degradation region based on the rate of progression.
[0033] Referring back to FIG. 1 , the expanded degradation region designation unit 13 outputs the results of designating the expanded degradation region and the isolated degradation region to the analogy region designation unit 12 until the processes of the analogy region designation unit 12 and the expanded degradation region designation unit 13 are repeated a predetermined number of times. The analogy region designation unit 12 regards the expanded degradation region as a degradation region and performs the above-described process. That is, as shown in FIG. 8 , the analogy region designation unit 12 further designates, as an analogy region, a rectangular region whose one side is the length of the expanded degradation region in a predetermined direction (x direction) and whose other side is the distance to a predetermined reinforcing bar 2 aligned with the reinforcing bar 2 including the expanded degradation region. The more the processes of the analogy region designation unit 12 and the expanded degradation region designation unit 13 are repeated, the more future degradation of the reinforcing bar 2 can be predicted. The number of times the processes of the analogy region designation unit 12 and the expanded degradation region designation unit 13 are repeated is set in advance by, for example, a maintenance manager of the reinforced concrete structure.
[0034] Referring again to Figure 1, when the processing of the analogy area designation unit 12 and the extended degradation area designation unit 13 is repeated a predetermined number of times, the extended degradation area designation unit 13 outputs the results of designating the extended degradation area and the single degradation area to the repair range output unit 14.
[0035] The repair range output unit 14 outputs the repair range of the reinforced concrete structure. Specifically, for a deteriorated area whose corresponding analogical area includes another deteriorated area, the repair range output unit 14 outputs the deteriorated area and the other deteriorated area (i.e., extended deteriorated area) as the repair range. Furthermore, for a deteriorated area whose corresponding analogical area does not include another deteriorated area, the repair range output unit 14 outputs the deteriorated area (i.e., single deteriorated area) as the repair range. The repair range output unit 14 outputs the repair range, for example, by displaying it on a display device.
[0036] Next, the operation of the prediction device 10 according to this embodiment will be described. Fig. 9 is a flowchart showing an example of the operation of the prediction device 10 according to this embodiment, and is a diagram for explaining a prediction method by the prediction device 10 according to this embodiment.
[0037] The degradation area designation unit 11 designates a degradation area in each of the multiple reinforcing bars 2 where the reinforcing bars 2 have deteriorated, based on the position of the deteriorated portion in the reinforced concrete structure where deterioration has become apparent and the arrangement of the multiple reinforcing bars 2 (step S11). Specifically, the degradation area designation unit 11 designates the position of the deteriorated portion in the reinforced concrete structure where deterioration has become apparent, based on the deterioration information. Then, the degradation area designation unit 11 designates a degradation area in each of the multiple reinforcing bars 2 based on the designated deteriorated portion. The degradation area designation unit 11 may designate a region of the reinforcing bar 2 that overlaps with a deteriorated portion as the degradation area. Furthermore, if a deteriorated portion does not overlap with the reinforcing bar 2, the degradation area designation unit 11 may designate a region of the reinforcing bar 2 closest to the deteriorated portion, where the position in the extension direction (x direction) of the reinforcing bar 2 coincides with the position of the deteriorated portion, as the degradation area.
[0038] The analogy area designation unit 12 designates a rectangular area as the analogy area, with one side being the length of the deterioration area in a specified direction (the x-direction in which the reinforcing bar 2 extends) and the other side being the distance to a specified reinforcing bar 2 that is aligned with the reinforcing bar 2 that includes the deterioration area (step S12).
[0039] The expanded deteriorated region designation unit 13 determines whether or not another deteriorated region is included in the analogous region designated in correspondence with one deteriorated region (step S13).
[0040] If it is determined that the analogy area specified corresponding to one degraded area does not include other degraded areas (step S13: No), the extended degraded area designation unit 13 proceeds to processing of step 16 described below.
[0041] If it is determined that the analogy area designated corresponding to one deterioration area includes another deterioration area (step S13: Yes), the extended deterioration area designation unit 13 designates the reinforcing bar 2 included in the analogy area as an extended deterioration area in which deterioration is not apparent (step S14).
[0042] The analogy area designation unit 12 designates an analogy area for the deterioration area and the extended deterioration area (step S15). That is, the analogy area designation unit 12 further designates, as the analogy area, a rectangular area whose one side is the length of the extended deterioration area in a predetermined direction and whose other side is the distance to a predetermined reinforcing bar 2 aligned with the reinforcing bar 2 including the extended deterioration area.
[0043] The extended deteriorated area designation unit 13 determines whether or not there is progress of specific deterioration for each of the extended deteriorated area and the single deteriorated area (step S16).
[0044] When it is determined that there is no specific progression of deterioration in either the extended deteriorated region or the single deteriorated region (step S16: No), the extended deteriorated region designation unit 13 proceeds to the processing of step S18 described later.
[0045] If it is determined that there is a progression of specific deterioration in each of the extended deterioration area and the individual deterioration area (step S16: Yes), the extended deterioration area designation unit 13 reflects the progression of specific deterioration by expanding the extended deterioration area and the individual deterioration area based on the known rate of progression of deterioration in each of the extended deterioration area and the individual deterioration area (step S17).
[0046] Next, the expanded deteriorated region designation unit 13 determines whether the variable n is less than a predetermined number of repetitions (step S18).
[0047] If it is determined that the variable n is less than the predetermined number of repetitions (step S18: Yes), the extended deteriorated region designation unit 13 adds 1 to the variable n (step S19) and returns to the processing of step S13.
[0048] If it is determined that the variable n is not less than the predetermined number of repetitions (the variable n has reached the number of repetitions) (step S18: No), the extended deteriorated area designation unit 13 outputs the results of designating the deteriorated area and the extended deteriorated area to the repair range output unit 14, and ends the processing. The repair range output unit 14 outputs the repair range based on the output of the extended deteriorated area designation unit 13.
[0049] As described above, the prediction device 10 according to this embodiment includes a deteriorated area designation unit 11, an analogous area designation unit 12, and an extended deteriorated area designation unit 13. The deteriorated area designation unit 11 designates a deteriorated area in each of the multiple reinforcing bars 2 based on the position of a deteriorated portion in a reinforced concrete structure where deterioration is apparent and the arrangement of the multiple reinforcing bars 2. The analogous area designation unit 12 designates, as the analogous area, a rectangular area whose one side is the length of the deteriorated area in a predetermined direction and whose other side is the distance to a predetermined reinforcing bar 2 aligned with the reinforcing bar 2 including the deteriorated area. If the analogous area designated corresponding to the deteriorated area includes another deteriorated area, the extended deteriorated area designation unit 13 designates the reinforcing bars 2 included in the analogous area as an extended deteriorated area where deterioration is not apparent.
[0050] When an analogous region is specified for a deteriorated region designated by apparent deterioration, and the analogous region includes other deteriorated regions, there is a high possibility that similar deterioration will occur in the reinforcing bars 2 included in the analogous region. Therefore, when other deteriorated regions are included in the analogous region, by specifying the reinforcing bars 2 included in the analogous region as an extended deteriorated region, it is possible to predict the deterioration of the reinforcing bars in the unexposed reinforcement parts from the apparent deterioration in the reinforced concrete structure.

A prediction device as described in claim 1, wherein the third designation unit, when the analogous area designated corresponding to the degraded area does not include other degraded areas, designates the degraded area as a single degraded area in which degradation does not progress to its surroundings.
3. A prediction device as described in claim 1, wherein the second designation unit further designates as the analogy region a rectangular region having the length of one side of the extended deterioration region in the specified direction and the distance to a specified reinforcing bar aligned with the reinforcing bar including the extended deterioration region as the length of the other side.
4. A prediction device as described in claim 1, further comprising an output unit which outputs the repair range of the reinforced concrete structure, wherein for a deterioration area whose corresponding analogy area includes other deterioration areas, the output unit outputs the deterioration area and the extended deterioration area as the repair range, and for a deterioration area whose corresponding analogy area does not include other deterioration areas, the output unit outputs the deterioration area as the repair range.
