[0047] Figure 2a illustrates an exemplary wearable device. Figure 2b is a cross-sectional view of the exemplary wearable device.
[0048] Referring to FIG. 2a, the wearable device (200) may include a housing (210).
[0049] According to one embodiment, the wearable device (200) can be worn by a user. The user may refer to a person who wears the wearable device (200). The wearable device (200) may be worn on a part (20) of the user's body. For example, the wearable device (200) may be worn on a part (20) of the user's body. For example, the wearable device (200) may be fastened to a part (20) of the user's body. For example, the wearable device (200) may be detachable from a part (20) of the user's body.
[0050] For example, the wearable device (200) may be worn by a user and thus come into contact with a part of the user's body (20). For example, the wearable device (200) may be configured to obtain information related to the user through a part of the user's body (20) by being worn by the user. For example, the wearable device (200) may provide the user with information indicating the user's status based on the information obtained related to the user. For example, the wearable device (200) may be configured to display information indicating the user's status through a display of the wearable device (200) and / or an electronic device (e.g., the electronic device (101) of FIG. 1) connected to the wearable device (200), thereby providing the user with information indicating the user's status. The wearable device (200) may be referred to as the electronic device (102) or electronic device (104) of FIG. 1, but is not limited thereto, in that it provides information related to a user wearing the wearable device (200) to the user through an electronic device (101) connected to the wearable device (200).
[0051] For example, the part of the user's body (20) on which the wearable device (200) is worn may be the user's finger. For example, the housing (210) of the wearable device (200) may have a ring shape so that the wearable device (200) can be worn on the user's finger. However, the present invention is not limited thereto. The wearable device (200), which may be referred to as a wearable device, may have a shape corresponding to the part of the user's body (20) so that it can be worn on the part of the user's body (20).
[0052] According to one embodiment, as illustrated in FIG. 2A, the housing (210) may include a first side (210a) (of the first frame (211)) that faces and contacts the first body part (21) of the user while the wearable device (200) is worn on the user's first body part (21), and a second side (210b) (of the second frame (212)) that is opposite to the first side (210a). The first body part (21) may be one of the user's fingers. For example, at least a portion of the first side (210a) may come into contact with the first body part (21) of the user when the wearable device (200) is worn on the user. For example, the first side (210a) may surround the first body part (21) of the user on which the wearable device (200) is worn. For example, the first surface (210a) may cover the first body part (21) of the user on whom the wearable device (200) is worn. For example, the first surface (210a) may be configured to pressurize the first body part (21) of the user when the wearable device (200) is worn by the user, thereby fastening the wearable device (200) to the first body part (21).
[0053] For example, the second side (210b) may form the exterior of the electronic device (101) together with the first side (210a). For example, the second side (210b) may form a ring-shaped housing (210) together with the first side (210a). For example, the second side (210b) may be a side spaced apart from the first body part (21) of the user when the electronic device (101) is worn on the user's first body part (21). For example, while the electronic device (101) is worn on the user's first body part (21), the first side (210a) may be the side closest to the first body part (21) of the user. The second side (210b), which is opposite to the first side (210a), may be the side furthest from the first body part (21). For example, the first surface (210a) may be referred to as the inner circumference surface of the housing (210). The second surface (210b), which is opposite to the first surface (210a), may be referred to as the outer circumference surface of the housing (210).
[0054] Although the wearable device (200) is described as being worn on the user's first body part (21), it is not limited thereto. It should be noted that the first body part (21) is intended to describe a part (20) of the user's body on which the wearable device (200) is worn, and does not limit the part (20) of the user's body on which the wearable device (200) is worn, or limit the arrangement relationship between the part (20) of the body and the wearable device (200). For example, the first body part (21) may be one of the user's fingers, but is not limited thereto.
[0055] According to one embodiment, the housing (210) may include a first frame (211) defining a first surface (210a), and a second frame (212) defining a second surface (210b) and coupled to the first frame (211). For example, the first frame (211) may be a portion of the housing (210) that includes the first surface (210a). For example, the first frame (211) may come into contact with a part (20) of the body of a user when the wearable device (200) is worn by the user. For example, the first surface (210a) may form at least a portion of the exterior of the first frame (211). The second surface (210b) opposite the first surface (210a) may form at least a portion of the exterior of the second frame (212). For example, the first frame (211) may be referred to as an inner wall of the housing (210) at the point where it comes into contact with a part of the user's body (20) while the wearable device (200) is worn by the user. The first side (210a) of the first frame (211) may be referred to as an inner surface of the housing (210) at the point where it at least partially surrounds a part of the user's body (20) on which the wearable device (200) is worn. For example, the second frame (212) may be referred to as an outer wall of the housing (210) at the point where it is coupled with the first frame (211) so as to surround the first frame (211). The second surface (210b) of the second frame (212) may be referred to as an outer surface of the housing (210) in that it is a periphery that does not come into contact with a body part (20) on which the wearable device (200) is worn by the user while the wearable device (200) is worn. For example, referring also to FIG. 2b, the first frame (211) may provide a medium for a path of light emitted from the light emitting unit (251).The first frame (211) may include at least one of silicon, epoxy, and acrylic, but is not limited thereto.
[0056] For example, the second frame (212) can surround the first frame (211). For example, the second frame (212) can support the first frame (211). For example, the second frame (212) can form the exterior of the housing (210) together with the first frame (211). For example, the second frame (212) can be a portion of the housing (210) that includes a second surface (210b) opposite to the first surface (210a). The second frame (212) can include at least one of metal and titanium, but is not limited thereto. The housing (210) of the wearable device (200) can provide a variety of user experiences to the user by including the first frame (211) and the second frame (212) that include different materials.
[0057] Referring to FIG. 2B, the wearable device (200) may include electronic components within a housing (210) to perform functions of the wearable device (200). For example, the wearable device (200) may include a processor (201) (or one or more processors), a communication circuit (202), a memory (203), an antenna (204), and a power management circuit (205). According to one embodiment, the power management circuit (205) may be implemented as at least a part of a power management integrated circuit (PMIC).
[0058] According to one embodiment, a wearable device (200) may include a battery (230) for charging the wearable device (200), and a printed circuit board (PCB) (240) within a housing (210) connected to the battery (230). For example, a processor (201), a communication circuit (202), a memory (203), and a power management circuit (205) may be mounted on the printed circuit board (240). The power management circuit (205) may be configured to manage power supplied to the wearable device (200). For example, the battery (230) may include a charging interface (235) connected to the printed circuit board (240) and configured to receive power from an external power source for charging the battery (230). The battery (230) may be charged through the power supplied through the charging interface (235). The above battery (230) is connected to a printed circuit board (240) and can supply power to at least some of the electronic components on the printed circuit board (240).
[0059] According to one embodiment, the printed circuit board (240) may include, but is not limited to, at least one of a flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) and a rigid flexible printed circuit board (RFPCB) depending on the material thereof.
[0060] The processor (201) may be configured to control at least some of the electronic components within the wearable device (200). The processor (201) may control the electronic components within the wearable device (200) through communication with an external electronic device (e.g., the electronic device (101) of FIG. 1) connected to the wearable device (200).
[0061] The communication circuit (202) can connect the external electronic device (101) and the wearable device (200). Through the communication circuit (202), the processor (201) can control at least some of the electronic components in the wearable device (200) based on a user input input to the external electronic device (101), or can cause an event for executing a function of the external electronic device (101). For example, the processor (201) of the wearable device (200) can be configured to execute an application of the external electronic device (101) through the communication circuit (202) and the processor in the external electronic device (101) (e.g., the processor (120) of FIG. 1). However, the present invention is not limited thereto.
[0062] According to one embodiment, the communication circuit (202) may connect the wearable device (200) to an external electronic device (101) through near field communication. For example, the communication circuit (202) may connect the wearable device (200) and the external electronic device (101) based on the external electronic device (101) being within a specified distance range from the wearable device (200). However, the present invention is not limited thereto. The communication circuit (202) may establish a wireless communication network for communication with the external electronic device (101) through WiFi, NFC, Zigbee, Bluetooth, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification), or a combination thereof. The above communication circuit (202) can transmit user input to the wearable device (200) to the external electronic device (101) or receive user input to the external electronic device (101) from the external electronic device (101) through a short-range wireless communication network between the wearable device (200) and the external electronic device (101).
[0063] The electronic components included in the wearable device (200) are not limited to the configuration described above. For example, the wearable device (200) may include various sensors, including a temperature sensor, a proximity sensor, a motion sensor, and a pressure sensor.
[0064] According to one embodiment, a wearable device (200) may include a first sensor module (250) configured to detect biometric information about a user, the first sensor module including a light-emitting portion (251) facing a first side (210a) of a housing (210) and a light-receiving portion (252) spaced apart from the light-emitting portion (251).
[0065] According to one embodiment, the processor (201) may be configured to emit light using the light emitting unit (251) of the first sensor module (250). The processor (201) may be configured to obtain information related to the external environment through at least a portion of the light emitted from the light emitting unit (251) and received by the light receiving unit (252) using the light receiving unit (252) of the first sensor module (250).
[0066] For example, the first sensor module (250) may be disposed in the internal space of the housing (210) between the first surface (210a) and the second surface (210b). For example, the first sensor module (250) may be disposed on a component (e.g., a printed circuit board (240)) of the wearable device (200) between the first surface (210a) and the second surface (210b). The first sensor module (250) may be electrically connected to the component. For example, the first sensor module (250) may be configured to sense a state of a user by using a part of the user's body (20) worn on the wearable device (200). The wearable device (200) may be configured to provide the user with information related to the state through the sensed state of the user. The light emitting unit (251) may be referred to as a light emitting diode (LED), and the light receiving unit (252) may be referred to as a photo diode, but is not limited thereto.
[0067] For example, the light emitting unit (251) may be configured to emit light in a plurality of directions. A portion of the light emitted from the light emitting unit (251) in the plurality of directions may be reflected by a part of the body (20) of a user wearing the electronic device (101). For example, the light emitting unit (251) may be configured to emit light toward a part of the body (20) of a user wearing the wearable device (200). The light emitted from the light emitting unit (251) toward the part of the body (20) of the user may be reflected by the part of the body (20).
[0068] For example, the light receiving unit (252) may be configured to receive a portion of light emitted in a plurality of directions from the light emitting unit (251). For example, the light emitting unit (251) may be configured to emit light toward a part of the body (20) of a user wearing the electronic device (101). The light receiving unit (252) may be configured to receive a portion of light reflected by the part of the body (20) of the user. The light receiving unit (252) may be configured to receive the portion of the light through a space and / or a medium between the first surface (210a) and the second surface (210b) of the housing (210).
[0069] For example, the first sensor module (250) may be configured to detect the state of the user based on light emitted from the light emitting unit (251) and reflected by the body part (20) of the user being received by the light receiving unit (252). The electronic device (101) may be configured to obtain information related to the state of the user from the sensor module (250). For example, the light emitting unit (251) may emit light toward the first body part (21) of the user on whom the wearable device (200) is worn. The light receiving unit (252) may receive at least a portion of the light emitted from the light emitting unit (251) and reflected by the first body part (21). The first sensor module (250) may be configured to detect the state of the user through at least a portion of the light reflected by the first body part (21).
[0070] According to one embodiment, the light emitting unit (251) may include a plurality of light emitting units (251a, 251b, 251c). The plurality of light emitting units (251a, 251b, 251c) may face the first surface (210a) of the housing (210) so as to emit light toward a part (20) of the body of a user wearing the wearable device (200). According to one embodiment, the light receiving unit (252) may include a plurality of light receiving units (252a, 252b, 252c). The above-described plurality of light-receiving units (252a, 252b, 252c) may each face the first surface (210a) of the housing (210) in order to receive at least a portion of the light emitted from the light-emitting unit (251) and reflected by a part of the body (20) of a user wearing the wearable device (200).
[0071] According to one embodiment, in order to provide various user experiences to the user, the wearable device (200) may be required to trigger an event for executing a function of an external electronic device (101) connected to the wearable device (200) based on the user's wearing of the wearable device (200) on a part of the user's body (20) and / or the user's biometric information (e.g., a fingerprint). The structure of the wearable device (200) for executing a function of the external electronic device (101) connected to the wearable device (200) based on the user's motion and / or the user's biometric information will be described below with reference to FIG. 3A.
[0072] According to the above-described embodiment, the wearable device (200) can be worn on a part (20) of the user's body, thereby providing the user with various user experiences. The wearable device (200) can be configured to increase the user's wearing comfort and provide the user with information related to the user by including a housing (210) including a first side (210a) configured to face the part (20) of the user's body.
[0073] Figure 3a is an exploded perspective view of an exemplary wearable device. Figures 3b and 3c illustrate the exemplary wearable device worn by a user. Figure 3d is a top plan view of a printed circuit board of the exemplary wearable device.
[0074] Referring to FIGS. 3a, 3b, 3c, and 3d, a wearable device (200) may include a housing (210) that includes a first side (210a) facing a first body part (21) of a user while the wearable device (200) is worn on the first body part (21) of the user, and a second side (210b) opposite to the first side (210a). According to one embodiment, the wearable device (200) may include a battery (230) within the housing (210), and a printed circuit board (240) connected to the battery (230). According to one embodiment, the housing (210) may include a first frame (211) defining a first surface (210a), and a second frame (212) defining a second surface (210b) and coupled to the first frame (211).
[0075] According to one embodiment, the housing (210) may include a groove (311) formed from the second surface (210b) toward the first surface (210a). For example, the groove (311) may be formed in the second frame (212) defining the second surface (210b) among the first frame (211) and the second frame (212) of the housing (210). For example, the groove (311) may provide a space for accommodating another body part of the user (e.g., a second body part (22)) distinct from the first body part (21) on which the wearable device (200) is worn. For example, the groove (311) may be located on at least a portion of the printed circuit board (240). For example, the groove (311) may be formed in the second surface (210b).
[0076] According to one embodiment, the wearable device (200) may include a first sensor (321) within the housing (210) facing a groove (311) of the housing (210). The first sensor (321) may be configured to detect a second body part (22) of the user, which is distinct from a first body part (21) of the user on whom the wearable device (200) is worn and is located within the groove (311). For example, the first sensor (321) may be disposed between a first surface (210a) of the housing (210) and the groove (311). For example, the first sensor (321) may be mounted on a printed circuit board (240). The first sensor (321) may be disposed on a portion of the printed circuit board (240) facing the groove (311). For example, the first sensor (321) may include a first electrode (321a in FIG. 3c). The first sensor (321) may be configured to detect a second body part (22) of the user located within the home (311) through the first electrode (321a). For example, the first sensor (321) may be configured to detect the second body part (22) of the user located within the home (311) by being positioned adjacent to the second body part (22) of the user located within the home (311) through the home (311). For example, the first sensor (321) may include, but is not limited to, at least one of a touch sensor and a distance sensor.
[0077] According to one embodiment, the first sensor (321) may be disposed within the first frame (211) of the housing (210). For example, the first frame (211) may include a curved surface (211b) for accommodating a groove (311) of a second frame (212). The first sensor (321) may be disposed between the first surface (210a) of the first frame (211) and the curved surface (211b). For example, the first sensor (321) may be disposed within the housing (210) so as to face the curved surface (211b) of the first frame (211) that is coupled with the groove (311).
[0078] According to one embodiment, the groove (311) may include a curved surface (311a) having a curvature to accommodate at least a portion of a second body part (22) of a user by being at least partially bent. For example, the curved surface (311a) may be formed on the second frame (212). The curved surface (311a) may correspond to a curved surface (211b) within the first frame (211) for accommodating the groove (311). The groove (311), by including the curved surface (311a), may improve a wearing comfort of the wearable device (200) for the user while the second body part (22) of the user is positioned within the groove (311).
[0079] For example, the home (311) of the wearable device (200) may be referred to as a recess for accommodating another body part (e.g., a second body part (22)) distinct from the first body part (21) of the user while the wearable device (200) is worn on the first body part (21) of the user, or for fingerprint authentication through the other body part. The home (311) may form a cavity for accommodating the other body part by including a curved surface (311a).
[0080] According to one embodiment, the distance (d1) between the first surface (210a) and the second surface (210b) may be greater than the distance (d2) between the first surface (210a) and the groove (311). Since the distance (d1) is greater than the distance (d2), the groove (311) may provide the user with a space for accommodating the user's second body part (22). According to one embodiment, the distance (d1) between the first surface (210a) and the second surface (210b) may be located within a range of about 2 mm to about 3 mm, and the depth of the groove (311) may be located within a range of about 0.2 mm to about 1.5 mm.
[0081] According to one embodiment, the printed circuit board (240) may include a first region (241) including at least one electronic component, and a second region (242) between a first surface (210a) and a groove (311) connecting the first region (241) and a battery (230). A first sensor (321) may be attached to the second region (242). For example, a processor (201) and a communication circuit (202) may be mounted in the first region (241). For example, the first region (241) may be a region of the printed circuit board (240) facing the battery (230) and spaced apart from the battery (230). For example, a first sensor module (250) including a light-emitting unit (251) and a light-receiving unit (252) spaced apart from the light-emitting unit (251) may be disposed on the first region (241). For example, the second region (242) may be connected from the first region (241) to the battery (230). The thickness of the second region (242) may be smaller than the average thickness of the first region (241). For example, the second region (242) may face the groove (311). The second region (242) may be disposed below the groove (311). For example, the second region (242) may have flexibility, but is not limited thereto. For example, the first sensor (321) may be disposed on one side of the second region (242) of the printed circuit board (240) facing the groove (311) of the housing (210). The first sensor (321) may be disposed on the second region (242) so as to face the groove (311) and be adjacent to the groove (311).
[0082] According to one embodiment, the housing (210) may include another groove (312) facing the groove (311) and formed from the second side (210b) toward the first side (210a) and spaced apart from the groove (311). The wearable device (200) may further include a second sensor (322) within the housing (210) facing the other groove (312). The second sensor (322) may be configured to detect a third body part (23) of the user, which is distinct from the first body part (21) on which the wearable device (200) is worn and the second body part (22) located within the groove (311) and located within the other groove (312).
[0083] For example, the other groove (312) may be configured to be substantially identical to or similar to the groove (311). For example, the other groove (312) may face and be spaced apart from the groove (311). For example, the other groove (312) may overlap the groove (311) when viewed from above. For example, the other groove (312) may include a curved surface (312a) having a curvature. The other groove (312) may be configured to receive a third body part (23) distinct from the first body part (21) and the second body part (22) of the user through the curved surface (312a). For example, the other groove (312) may be formed in the second frame (212) of the housing (210). The first frame (211) coupled with the second frame (212) may include a curved surface (211a) coupled to the other groove (312) so as to correspond to the curved surface (312a) of the other groove (312). The curved surface (211a) may face a curved surface (211b) facing the groove (311).
[0084] For example, the second sensor (322) may face the other groove (312). For example, the second sensor (322) may be configured to be substantially the same as or similar to the first sensor (321). For example, the printed circuit board (240) may include a third region (243) connecting the antenna (204) and the first region (241). The third region (243) may be disposed between the first surface (210a) and the other groove (312). The second sensor (322) may be disposed on one surface of the third region (243) facing the other groove (312). For example, the average thickness of the third region (243) on which the second sensor (322) is disposed may be smaller than the average thickness of the first region (241). For example, the second sensor (322) may include a second electrode (322a in FIG. 3c). Through the second electrode (322a), the second sensor (322) may be configured to detect a third body part (23) of the user located within another home (312).
[0085] According to one embodiment, the first sensor (321) and the second sensor (322) of the wearable device (200) may each be referred to as a touch sensor. For example, the first sensor (321) and / or the second sensor (322) may include, but are not limited to, a resistive touch screen touch sensor, a capacitive touch sensor, a surface acoustic wave touch screen sensor, an infrared touch screen sensor, or a combination thereof, in order to detect contact with at least some of the user's body parts (21, 22, 23). For example, the first sensor (321) and / or the second sensor (322) may be configured to detect that at least some of the user's body parts (21, 22, 23) are in contact with the groove (311) and / or another groove (312) by detecting a change in capacitance and / or resistance through the first electrode (321a) and the second electrode (322a), respectively.
[0086] According to one embodiment, a wearable device (200) may include a first sensor module (250) configured to detect biometric information about a user, the first sensor module (250) including a light-emitting unit (251) facing a first surface (210a) and a light-receiving unit (252) spaced apart from the light-emitting unit (251), and a processor (201). The processor (201) may be configured to emit light using the light-emitting unit (251) of the first sensor module (250). The processor (201) may be configured to obtain information related to an external environment through at least a portion of the light emitted from the light-emitting unit (251) and received by the light-receiving unit (252) using the light-receiving unit (252) of the first sensor module (250). The processor (120) may be configured to identify whether the wearable device (200) is worn on the first body part (21) of the user through at least a portion of the light received by the light receiving unit (252). The processor (201) may be configured to operate the first sensor (321) based on identifying the wearable device (200) worn on the first body part (21). For example, the light receiving unit (252) may be configured to receive at least a portion of the light emitted from the light emitting unit (251) and reflected by the first body part (21) on which the wearable device (200) is worn. The processor (201) may be configured to identify that the wearable device (200) is worn on the first body part (21) based on at least a portion of the light detected by the light receiving unit (252) and reflected by the first body part (21). The processor (201) may be configured to operate the first sensor (321) and / or the second sensor (322) based on identifying that the wearable device (200) is worn on the first body part (21).For example, the processor (201) may be configured to supply power to the first sensor (321) and / or the second sensor (322) via the battery (230) and / or the power management circuit (e.g., the power management circuit (205) of FIG. 2B) based on identifying that the wearable device (200) is worn on the first body part (21). The wearable device (200) may detect a touch of a part of the user's body (e.g., the second body part (22) and / or the third body part (23) of FIG. 3B) to the home (311) and / or another home (312) of the wearable device (200) via the first sensor (321) and / or the second sensor (322).
[0087] According to one embodiment, the wearable device (200) may include a communication circuit (202) for communicating with an external electronic device (e.g., the electronic device (101) of FIG. 1), and a third sensor (330 of FIG. 3c) configured to detect a motion of a user through a first body part (21) of the user wearing the wearable device (200). For example, the third sensor (330) may be disposed within a first area (241) of a printed circuit board (240). For example, the third sensor (330) may include at least one of a gyro sensor and an acceleration sensor, but is not limited thereto. By including the third sensor (330), the wearable device (200) may provide various user experiences to the user of the wearable device (200). Regarding the wearable device (200) providing various user experiences through the third sensor (330), this will be described later in FIG. 6a and below.
[0088] According to one embodiment, the third sensor (330) may be referred to as an accelerometer and / or a gyro sensor for detecting the motion of a user wearing the wearable device (200). For example, the third sensor (330) may detect the motion of the user based on the movement of the first body part (21) of the user wearing the wearable device (200) and / or the inclination of the wearable device (200) according to the movement of the first body part (21). For example, the third sensor (330) may detect the motion of the user based on the rotation of the first body part (21) of the user wearing the wearable device (200) and / or the movement speed of the first body part (21). However, the present invention is not limited thereto.
[0089] According to one embodiment, contrary to the user's intention, while the wearable device (200) is worn on the first body part (21), the second body part (22) may come into contact with the home (311) or the third body part (23) may come into contact with another home (312). The wearable device (200) may include a component for reducing sensing of the first sensor (321) and / or sensing of the second sensor (322) that is contrary to the user's intention, or may perform an operation for reducing malfunction of the first sensor (321) and the second sensor (322).
[0090] According to one embodiment, the first sensor (321) and / or the second sensor (322) may each be a force sensor. Through the first sensor (321), the processor (201) of the wearable device (200) may be configured to detect a second body part (22) located within the home (311) based on whether a force pressing the home (311) is greater than or equal to a specified value. Through the second sensor (322), the processor (201) of the electronic device (200) may be configured to detect a third body part (23) located within another home (312) based on whether a force pressing the other home (312) is greater than or equal to a specified value. For example, the first sensor (321) and / or the second sensor (322) may be a touch sensor. The third sensor (330) may be a gyro sensor or an acceleration sensor for detecting the user's movement. The first sensor (321) and the second sensor (322) for detecting touch may be linked with the third sensor (330) for detecting the user's motion, and may be configured to detect a second body part (22) located within the home (311) and / or a third body part (23) located within another home (312) based on detecting a motion corresponding to a preset gesture. However, the present invention is not limited thereto.
[0091] According to the above-described embodiment, the wearable device (200) can improve the wearing comfort of the user of the wearable device (200) by including a home (311). The wearable device (200) can be configured to identify whether the user is wearing the wearable device (200) by including a first sensor module (250). The wearable device (200) can provide the user with various user experiences by including a first sensor (321) in the housing (210) facing the home (311).
[0092] Figure 4 illustrates an exemplary wearable device.
[0093] Referring to FIG. 4, a wearable device (200) may include a housing (210) that includes a first side (210a) facing a first body part (21) of a user (e.g., the first body part (21) of FIG. 2A) while the wearable device (200) is worn on the first body part of the user, and a second side (210b) opposite to the first side (210a). The wearable device (200) may include a first sensor module (250) that includes a light-emitting unit (251) facing the first side (210a) and a light-receiving unit (252) spaced apart from the light-emitting unit (251) and configured to detect biometric information about the user, and a processor (e.g., the processor (201) of FIG. 2A). The processor (201) may be configured to emit light using the light-emitting unit (251) of the first sensor module (250). The processor (201) may be configured to acquire information related to an external environment through at least a portion of the light emitted from the light-emitting unit (251) and received by the light-receiving unit (252) using the light-receiving unit (252) of the first sensor module (250). According to one embodiment, the wearable device (200) may include a battery (230) within the housing (210) and a printed circuit board (240) connected to the battery (230). According to one embodiment, the housing (210) may include a first frame (211) defining a first surface (210a), and a second frame (212) defining a second surface (210b) and coupled to the first frame (211).
[0094] According to one embodiment, the wearable device (200) may include a second sensor module (410) within a housing (210) configured to detect a user's fingerprint and facing a second side (210b). The second sensor module (410), similar to the first sensor module (410), may include at least one light emitting unit and at least one light receiving unit configured to receive at least a portion of light emitted from the at least one light emitting unit of the second sensor module (410). For example, the second sensor module (410) may be disposed within a first frame (211) of the housing (210). For example, the second sensor module (410) may be disposed on a printed circuit board (240). The second sensor module (410) may be disposed between the printed circuit board (240) and the second side (210b) of the housing (210). For example, the second sensor module (410) may be placed on one side of the printed circuit board (240) facing the second frame (212).
[0095] According to one embodiment, the wearable device (200) may include a plurality of optical sensors. For example, the wearable device (200) may include the first sensor module (250) of FIG. 2B and / or the second sensor module (410) of FIG. 4. The sensor modules (250, 410) may each include a light-emitting unit (e.g., the light-emitting unit (251) of FIG. 2B) for emitting light, and a light-receiving unit (e.g., the light-receiving unit (252) of FIG. 2B). The light-emitting unit may be referred to as a light emitting diode (LED), and the light-receiving unit may be referred to as a photo diode (PD), but is not limited thereto. The sensor modules (250, 410) may include at least one of an optical sensor, or a heartrate measurement (HRM) sensor using photoplethysmography (PPG), but is not limited thereto. For example, the first sensor module (250) can obtain biometric information (e.g., blood flow rate) of the user based on emitting light toward the finger of the user on whom the wearable device (200) is worn (e.g., the first body part (21) of FIG. 2A) and receiving at least a portion of the light reflected from the finger of the user. The first sensor module (250) can identify whether the wearable device (200) is worn by the user based on the measured biometric information. For example, the second sensor module (410) can obtain biometric information (e.g., fingerprint) of the user based on emitting light toward the finger of the user located on the fingerprint authentication area (401) provided by the second cover member (432) (e.g., the fourth body part (71) of FIG. 7B) and receiving at least a portion of the light reflected from the finger of the user. The processor (201) may be configured to perform an event for fingerprint authentication based on the biometric information acquired through the second sensor module (410).However, without being limited thereto, the wearable device (200) may include a plurality of optical sensors for obtaining biometric information of the user according to its function.
[0096] For example, the second sensor module (410) may include a light-emitting unit (not shown) configured to emit light and a light-receiving unit (not shown) configured to receive at least a portion of the light emitted from the light-emitting unit. The light-emitting unit of the second sensor module (410) may emit light toward a part of the user's body (e.g., the fourth body part (71) of FIG. 7B) positioned on the second sensor module (410). The light-receiving unit of the second sensor module (410) may be configured to detect a fingerprint included in a part of the user's body by receiving at least a portion of the light reflected by the part of the user's body. However, the present invention is not limited thereto.
[0097] According to one embodiment, the wearable device (200) may include a hole (420) extending from the second surface (210b) into the housing (210) and connected to a second sensor module (410), and at least one cover member (430) disposed on the second sensor module (410) and covering the hole (420).
[0098] For example, the hole (420) may penetrate the second frame (212). The hole (420) may penetrate a portion of the first frame (211) coupled with the second frame (212). For example, the hole (420) may overlap the second sensor module (410) when viewed from above. For example, the hole (420) may extend from the second surface (210b) of the housing (210) to one surface of the printed circuit board (240) on which the second sensor module (410) is mounted. For example, the inner surface of the hole (420) may be in contact with the second sensor module (410). The inner surface of the hole (420) may surround at least a portion of the second sensor module (410). For example, the hole (420) may provide a mounting space for the second sensor module (410). For example, the hole (420) may provide a passage for light emitted from the second sensor module (410).
[0099] For example, at least one cover member (430) can cover the second sensor module (410). For example, at least one cover member (430) can shield the second sensor module (410) by covering the hole (420). For example, at least one cover member (430) can include a first cover member (431) that comes into contact with the second sensor module (410), and a second cover member (432) that faces the first cover member (431) and is exposed to the outside. The first cover member (431) can be attached to one surface of the second sensor module (410) that faces the outside. The second cover member (432) can cover the hole (420) by being disposed on the first cover member (431). The second cover member (432) may be configured to provide a fingerprint authentication area (401) for user fingerprint authentication by being exposed to the outside. Since the second cover member (432) overlaps with the second sensor module (410), when the user's fingerprint is positioned on the fingerprint authentication area (401) provided by the second cover member (432), the second sensor module (410) can detect the user's fingerprint.
[0100] According to the above-described embodiment, the wearable device (200) can provide various user experiences to the user by including the second sensor module (410). The wearable device can provide a space for the second sensor module (410) within the wearable device (200) by including a hole (420) for the second sensor module (410) and provide a path for light emitted from the second sensor module (410). The wearable device (200) can cover the hole (420) by including at least one cover member (430) and guide the user to the location of the second sensor module (410) for fingerprint authentication through the fingerprint authentication area (401).
[0101] Figure 5 illustrates an exemplary wearable device connected to an external electronic device.
[0102] Referring to FIG. 5, a wearable device (200) can be worn on a first body part (21) among parts of a user's body (20). The housing of the wearable device (200) (e.g., the housing (210) of FIG. 2a) may include a first side (e.g., the first side (210a) of FIG. 2a) facing the first body part (21) while the wearable device (200) is worn on the first body part (21), a second side (e.g., the second side (210b) of FIG. 2a) opposite to the first side (210a), and a groove (e.g., the groove (311) of FIG. 3a) formed from the second side (210b) toward the first side (210a). According to one embodiment, the wearable device (200) may include a light-emitting unit (e.g., the light-emitting unit (251) of FIG. 2b) facing the first side (210a), and a light-receiving unit (e.g., the light-receiving unit (251) of FIG. 2b) spaced apart from the light-emitting unit (251). The wearable device (200) may include a first sensor module (e.g., the first sensor module (250) of FIG. 2B) configured to detect biometric information about the user, including a light-receiving unit (252)). According to one embodiment, the housing (210) may include another groove (e.g., another groove (312) of FIG. 3A) facing the groove (311). The wearable device (200) may include a first sensor (e.g., the first sensor (321) of FIG. 3A) configured to detect a second body part (22) of the user, which is distinct from the first body part (21) and located within the groove (311). The wearable device (200) may include a second sensor (322) configured to detect a third body part (23) of the user, which is distinct from the first body part (21) and the second body part (22) and located within the other groove (312). According to one embodiment, The wearable device (200) may include a processor (e.g., a processor (201) of FIG. 2B) and a communication circuit (e.g., a communication circuit (202) of FIG. 2B) for communication with an external electronic device (101).
[0103] Hereinafter, redundant descriptions of the configurations described in FIGS. 3a to 3c are omitted.
[0104] Within the state (510), the wearable device (200) may be worn on the user's first body part (21). The second body part (22) and the third body part (23) may be spaced apart from the wearable device (200). For example, the first body part (21) may be in contact with the wearable device (200). The second body part (22) and the third body part (23), which are distinct from the first body part (21), may not be in contact with the wearable device (200).
[0105] According to one embodiment, within the state (510), the processor (201) of the wearable device (200) can identify the wearable device (200) worn on the first body part (21) of the user through the first sensor module (250). For example, the processor (201) of the wearable device (200) can emit light using the light emitting unit (251) of the first sensor module (250). At least a portion of the light emitted from the light emitting unit (251) can be received by the light receiving unit (252) by being reflected by the first body part (21) of the user on which the wearable device (200) is worn. The processor (201) can identify the wearable device (200) worn on the user through at least a portion of the light emitted from the light emitting unit (251) and reflected by the first body part (21). For example, the processor (201) can receive a signal related to the external environment of the wearable device (200) through light received by the light receiving unit (252) of the first sensor module (250). When the wearable device (200) is worn on the user's first body part (21), the signal received by the light receiving unit (252) can change. The processor (201) can identify whether the wearable device (200) is worn by the user through the change in the signal. For example, the processor (201) can identify the wearable device (200) worn by the user based on identifying that the intensity of the signal received by the light receiving unit (252) is equal to or greater than a threshold value.
[0106] According to one embodiment, the wearable device (200) can be connected to an external electronic device (101) through a communication circuit (202). In a state (510), the processor (201) can identify the wearable device (200) worn on the first body part (21) through the first sensor module (250). Based on the identification of the wearable device (200) worn on the first body part (21), the processor (201) can be connected to the external electronic device (101) through the communication circuit (202).
[0107] According to one embodiment, the processor (201) of the wearable device (200) may provide information indicating that the wearable device (200) is connected to the external electronic device (101) through the external electronic device (101) connected to the wearable device (200). For example, based on identifying that the wearable device (200) is worn on the first body part (21), the processor (201) may be configured to display a screen (520) of the external electronic device (101) through the communication circuit (202) and the processor of the external electronic device (101) (e.g., the processor (120) of FIG. 1). The screen (520) may include an image (521) and / or text (522) indicating that the wearable device (200) is connected to the external electronic device (101).
[0108] According to one embodiment, the processor (201) of the wearable device (200) may drive the first sensor (321) and / or the second sensor (322) based on identifying the wearable device (200) worn on the user's first body part (21). The processor (201) performing an event for executing a function of the external electronic device (101) through the first sensor (321) and the second sensor (322) will be described below with reference to FIG. 6A.
[0109] According to the above-described embodiment, the processor (201) of the wearable device (200) may be configured to identify whether the wearable device (200) is worn by the user through the first sensor module (250). The wearable device (200) may provide various user experiences to the user by providing information indicating whether the wearable device (200) is worn by the user and / or whether the wearable device (200) is connected to the external electronic device (101) through the external electronic device (101) connected to the wearable device (200).
[0110] Figures 6a, 6b, and 6c illustrate exemplary wearable devices connected to external electronic devices.
[0111] Referring to FIGS. 6a, 6b, and 6c, the wearable device (200) can be worn on a first body part (21) among parts of the user's body (20).
[0112] According to one embodiment, the processor (201) of the wearable device (200) can identify the wearable device (200) worn on the first body part (21) through the first sensor module (250). Based on the identification of the wearable device (200) worn on the first body part (21), the processor (201) can drive the first sensor (321) facing the home (311) and the second sensor (322) facing the other home (312).
[0113] According to one embodiment, the processor (201) of the wearable device (200) can identify a second body part (22) located within a home (311) through a first sensor (321). The processor (201) can identify a third body part (23) located within another home (312) through a second sensor (322). The processor (201) can detect a touch of the second body part (22) to the home (311) through the first sensor (321). The processor (201) can detect a touch of the third body part (23) to another home (312) through the second sensor (322). The processor (201) may be configured to perform an event for executing a function of an external electronic device (101) connected to the wearable device (200) through a communication circuit (202) based on identifying the second body part (22) located within the home (311) and the third body part (23) located within the other home (312). For example, the event may be an event for unlocking the external electronic device (101). However, the present invention is not limited thereto.
[0114] According to one embodiment, the wearable device (200) may include a third sensor (e.g., the third sensor (330) of FIG. 3C) configured to detect a motion (610) of the user. The processor (201) of the wearable device (200) may identify the motion (610) of the user through the third sensor based on identifying a second body part (22) located within a home (311) and / or a third body part (23) located within another home (312). The processor (201) may be configured to perform an event for executing a function of the external electronic device (101) corresponding to the motion (610) of the user through the communication circuit (202) based on the motion (610) of the user.
[0115] For example, referring to FIGS. 6A and 6B, the first motion (611) may include an operation of a part of the user's body (20) while changing from a state (610a) to a state (610b). For example, the processor (201) may detect a change in a gesture of attaching and bending a finger (e.g., a first body part (21)) wearing a ring-shaped wearable device (200) and an adjacent finger (e.g., a second body part (22), a third body part (23)). The processor (201) of the wearable device (200) may identify, through the third sensor (330), whether the first motion (611) corresponds to a first gesture (G1) belonging to a preset gesture group.
[0116] For example, referring to FIGS. 6b and 6c, the second motion (612) immediately following the first motion (611) may include an operation of a part of the user's body (20) during a transition from a state (610b) to a state (610c). For example, the processor (201) may detect a change in a gesture of attaching a finger (e.g., a first body part (21)) wearing a ring-shaped wearable device (200) and an adjacent finger (e.g., a second body part (22), a third body part (23)), bending the finger from a flat state, and then extending the finger back to its original state. The processor (201) of the wearable device (200) may receive information related to the second motion (612) through the third sensor (330) based on identifying the first motion (611) corresponding to the first gesture (G1). For example, the processor (201) may obtain, through the third sensor (330), information related to the movement of the first body part (21) of the user wearing the wearable device (200) and / or the inclination of the wearable device according to the movement of the first body part (21). The processor (201) may obtain, based on at least some of the information, the second motion (612) and / or information related to the second motion (612). For example, the processor (201) may obtain, through the third sensor (330), information related to the rotation of the first body part (21) of the user wearing the wearable device (200) and / or the movement speed of the first body part (21). The processor (201) may obtain, based on at least some of the information, the second motion (612) and / or information related to the second motion (612). However, the present invention is not limited thereto. The processor (201) may be configured to identify, based on receiving the information related to the second motion (612), whether the second motion (612) corresponds to a second gesture (G2) belonging to a preset gesture group. The processor (201) can, based on identifying the second motion (612) corresponding to the second gesture (G2), perform an event for executing a function corresponding to a combination of the first gesture (G1) and the second gesture (G2) of the external electronic device (101) through the communication circuit (202).
[0117] For example, while a first motion (611) corresponding to a first gesture (G1) and a second motion (612) corresponding to a second gesture (G2) immediately following the first motion (611) are being performed, the processor (201) can identify whether the wearable device (200) is worn by the user through the first sensor module (e.g., the first sensor module (250) of FIG. 2B). For example, the processor (201) can identify the wearable device (200) worn by the user based on at least a portion of light emitted through the light emitting unit (e.g., the light emitting unit (251) of FIG. 2B) of the first sensor module (250) and reflected from the first body part (21) of the user on which the wearable device (200) is worn being received by the light receiving unit (e.g., the light receiving unit (252) of FIG. 2B) of the first sensor module (250). The processor (201) may be configured to identify, through the third sensor (330), whether the first motion (611) corresponds to the first gesture (G1) and whether the second motion (612) corresponds to the second gesture (612) based on identifying the wearable device (200) worn by the user. The processor (201) may be configured to bypass identifying the user's motions (611, 612) through the third sensor (330) while identifying the wearable device (200) that has been separated from the user through the first sensor module (250).
[0118] For example, while a first motion (611) corresponding to a first gesture (G1) and a second motion (612) corresponding to a second gesture (G2) immediately following the first motion (611) are performed, the processor (201) may be configured to identify whether a second body part (22) is positioned within a first groove (311) through a first sensor (321) (or a first electrode of the first sensor (321) (e.g., the first electrode (321a) of FIG. 3c)) and / or whether a third body part (23) is positioned within another groove (312) through a second sensor (322) (or a second electrode of the second sensor (322) (e.g., the second electrode (322a) of FIG. 3c))). The processor (201) may be configured to identify user motions (611, 612) through the third sensor (330) based on identifying a second body part (22) located within the first home (311) and / or a third body part (23) located within the second home (312). The processor (201) may be configured to bypass identifying the user motions (611, 612) through the third sensor (330) based on identifying a second body part (22) disengaged from the first home (311) and / or a third body part (23) disengaged from the second home (312). However, the present invention is not limited thereto. For example, when a state in which the second body part (22) is positioned within the first home (311) and the third body part (23) is positioned within the second home (312) changes to a state in which at least one of the second body part (22) and the third body part (23) is detached from the wearable device (200), the processor (201) may be configured to identify, based on a motion of the user detected through the third sensor (330) within a specified time from the state in which at least one of the second body part (22) and the third body part (23) is detached from the wearable device (200), whether the motion corresponds to a predetermined gesture.
[0119] For example, while a first motion (611) corresponding to a first gesture (G1) and a second motion (612) corresponding to a second gesture (G2) immediately following the first motion (611) are being performed, the processor (201) may provide information for unlocking or executing an application of the external electronic device (101) connected to the wearable device (200) through the external electronic device (101). For example, while a first motion (611) corresponding to a first gesture (G1) and a second motion (612) corresponding to a second gesture (G2) immediately following the first motion (611) are being performed, the wearable device (200) may be configured to display a screen (620) through the external electronic device (101). The above screen (620) may include an image (621) and / or text (622) that provides information for unlocking the external electronic device (101) or executing an application.
[0120] For example, referring to FIG. 6C, when a first motion (611) corresponding to a first gesture (G1) and a second motion (612) corresponding to a second gesture (G2) immediately following the first motion (611) are completed, the processor (201) may provide, through an external electronic device (101) connected to the wearable device (200), information related to the execution of a function corresponding to a combination of the first gesture (G1) and the second gesture (G2). For example, when a first motion (611) corresponding to a first gesture (G1) and a second motion (612) corresponding to a second gesture (G2) immediately following the first motion (611) are completed, the wearable device (200) may be configured to display a screen (640) through the external electronic device (101). [0124] According to one embodiment, the processor (201) of the wearable device (200) can identify the wearable device (200) worn on the first body part (21) through the first sensor module (250). Based on the identification of the wearable device (200) worn on the first body part (21), the processor (201) can drive the first sensor (321) facing the home (311) and the second sensor (322) facing the other home (312).
[0125] According to one embodiment, the wearable device (200) may include a second sensor module configured to detect a user's fingerprint (e.g., the second sensor module (410) of FIG. 4), a hole (420) extending from a second surface (210b) of the housing (210) into the interior of the housing (210) and connected to the second sensor module (410), and at least one cover member (430) disposed on the second sensor module (410) and covering the hole (420). The at least one cover member (430) may be configured to provide a fingerprint authentication area (401) for authenticating the user's fingerprint disposed on the second sensor module (410).
[0126] Referring to FIG. 7A, in a state (710a), the processor (201) of the wearable device (200) can identify a second body part (22) located within a home (311) through a first sensor (321). The processor (201) can identify a third body part (23) located within another home (312) through a second sensor (322). For example, the processor (201) can identify a state in which a finger (e.g., the first body part (21)) wearing a ring-shaped wearable device (200) and both fingers (e.g., the second body part (22), the third body part (23)) are attached and spread out through the second sensor (322). The processor (201) may be configured to perform an event for fingerprint authentication of an external electronic device (101) connected to the wearable device (200) through a communication circuit (202) based on identifying the second body part (22) located within the home (311) and the third body part (23) located within the other home (312). The processor (201) of the wearable device (200) may be configured to display a screen (720) indicating information related to fingerprint authentication of the external electronic device (101) through the external electronic device (101). The screen (720) may include an image (721) and / or text (722) related to fingerprint authentication of the user of the external electronic device (101).
[0127] Referring to FIG. 7b, a fingerprint of the user may be located on a fingerprint authentication area (401) of the wearable device (200) within a state (710b). For example, another part (70) of the user's body, distinct from a part (20) of the user's body, may be placed on the fingerprint authentication area (401). A second sensor module (410) within the wearable device (200) may detect a fingerprint of a fourth body part (71) located on the fingerprint authentication area (401) among the other parts (70) of the body. A processor (201) of the wearable device (200) may be configured to perform fingerprint authentication on the external electronic device (101) via a communication circuit (202) based on the fingerprint of the user identified via the second sensor module (410). [0133] In operation (805), the processor (201) may be configured to identify whether the wearable device (200) is worn on the user's first body part (21). For example, the processor (201) may identify whether the wearable device (200) is worn on the first body part (21) through at least a portion of the light received by the light receiving unit (252) of the first sensor module (250). For example, the processor (201) may identify whether the wearable device (200) is worn on the first body part (21) through a change in the intensity of a signal acquired through at least a portion of the light received by the light receiving unit (252). The processor (201) may be configured to emit light using the light emitting unit (251) of the first sensor module (250) while identifying that the wearable device (200) is not worn on the user's first body part (21) (e.g., operation (805) - No). For example, the processor (201) may identify, through a first sensor (321) facing the home (311), whether the second body part (22) is positioned within the home (311). For example, the processor (201) may identify, through a second sensor (322) facing the other home (312), whether the third body part (23) is positioned within the other home (312). The processor (201) may be configured to operate the first sensor (321) and the second sensor (322) while identifying that the second body part (22) is not positioned within the home (311) or that the third body part (23) is not positioned within another home (312) (e.g., operation (811) - No). For example, the processor (201) may be configured to operate the first sensor (321) and the second sensor (322) while identifying that the second body part (22) is positioned within the home (311) and that the third body part (23) is not positioned within another home (312). [0138] According to the above-described embodiment, the processor (201) of the wearable device (200) may be configured to identify whether the wearable device (200) is worn by the user through the first sensor module (250). Based on identifying the wearable device (200) worn by the user, the processor (201) may provide various user experiences to the user through the first sensor (321) and / or the second sensor (322).
[0139] FIG. 9a and FIG. 9b are flowcharts illustrating the operation of a processor of an exemplary wearable device.
[0140] FIG. 9a and FIG. 9b can be performed by the processor (201) of FIG. 2b.
[0141] Referring to FIG. 9A, in operation (901), the processor (201) may be configured to operate a first sensor (e.g., the first sensor (321) of FIG. 3A). For example, the processor (201) may be configured to identify, via a first sensor (321) facing the home (311), whether the second body part (22) is positioned within the home (311). The processor (201) may be configured to operate the first sensor (321) while identifying that the second body part (22) is not positioned within the home (311) (e.g., operation (903) - No). For example, the processor (201) may be configured to operate the first sensor (321) while the second body part (22) of the user is disengaged from the home (311).
[0143] In operation (905), the processor (201) may be configured to identify a motion (e.g., motion (610) of FIG. 6A) of the user through a third sensor (e.g., third sensor (330) of FIG. 3C) based on identifying a second body part (22) of the user located within the home (311). The processor (201) may be configured to identify the motion (610) of the user based on a moving of the first body part (21) detected through the third sensor (330). For example, the processor (201) can identify the user's motion (610) based on the tilt of the wearable device (200) according to the movement of the first body part (21) detected through the third sensor (330). For example, the processor (201) can identify the user's motion (610) based on the rotation of the first body part (21) and / or the movement speed of the first body part (21) detected through the third sensor (330). For example, the processor (201) can identify the user's motion (610) based on a tap or double tap to the wearable device (200) with a finger other than the first body part (21) that can be referenced by the user's finger through the third sensor (330). The processor (201) may be configured to receive information related to the second motion (612) via the third sensor (330) while identifying that the second motion (612) does not correspond to the second gesture (G2) (e.g., operation (915) - No).
[0148] In operation (917), the processor (201) may be configured to perform an event for executing a function corresponding to a combination of the first gesture (G1) and the second gesture (G2) of the external electronic device (101) connected to the wearable device (200) based on identifying that the second motion (612) corresponds to the second gesture (G2). For example, the processor (201) may be configured to execute an application and / or perform authentication corresponding to a combination of the first gesture (G1) and the second gesture (G2) of the external electronic device (101) connected to the wearable device (200) through the external electronic device (101).
