Description

Eco-friendly gas circuit breaker

[0001] The present invention relates to an eco-friendly gas circuit breaker.

[0002] Gas circuit breakers are used to switch energized and fault currents in power lines and other equipment. Insulating gas is used to insulate these circuit breakers, and sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) has long been used. However, due to its extremely high global warming potential (SWP), it is classified as a greenhouse gas and is therefore subject to restrictions.

[0003] Accordingly, the insulating gas used in gas circuit breakers is being replaced with eco-friendly gases. However, the eco-friendly insulating gases developed to date have inferior blocking performance compared to sulfur hexafluoride.

[0004] In addition, eco-friendly insulating gas is easily liquefied at high pressure and low temperature, and especially when mixed gas is used as insulating gas, if high pressure and low temperature are applied, the constituent gases may be liquefied individually, making it impossible to maintain the designed insulating gas composition ratio.

[0005] To address these issues, precise pressure management of the insulating gas is essential. However, if the gas tank where the insulating gas is stored is exposed to the external environment, problems such as the gas pressure exceeding the standard value within the tank can arise for various reasons.

[0006] Furthermore, conventional techniques utilize insulating gas within the housing of a gas circuit breaker to extinguish arcs generated at the contact points. However, this requires a larger housing, making insulation difficult to achieve. To address this, a separate gas tank is positioned outside the housing. However, as described above, this approach makes it difficult to accurately and quickly set the insulating gas pressure within the gas tank due to the surrounding environment.

[0007] Additionally, there is a problem that the insulation performance deteriorates when the temperature of the insulating gas rises due to an arc in the gas circuit breaker.

[0008] Prior literature with similar problems includes US registered patents US 3359390 and US3379849.

[0009]

[0010] The purpose of the present invention is to solve the conventional problems as described above, and to provide a gas circuit breaker capable of quickly setting the pressure of insulating gas for arc extinguishing within a gas tank.

[0011] The purpose of the present invention is to provide insulating gas that extinguishes arcs occurring inside a gas circuit breaker case from a gas tank located outside the case.

[0012] The purpose of the present invention is to reduce the size of the outer case of a gas circuit breaker.

[0013] The purpose of the present invention is to maintain the gas pressure inside a gas tank outside the outer case of a gas circuit breaker at a level suitable for arc extinguishing while preventing the insulating gas from being discharged to the outside.

[0014] The purpose of the present invention is to evenly distribute the thermal energy of the insulating gas that extinguishes the arc throughout the entire enclosure.

[0015] In order to achieve the above-mentioned purpose, the eco-friendly gas circuit breaker of the present invention has a first tank and a second tank placed outside the outer case of the gas circuit breaker so as to provide insulating gas from the first tank to the outer case of the circuit breaker at a more accurate pressure for gas protection.

[0016] The present invention may include a blocking unit having an outer space of an inner case filled with insulating gas and having first and second contacts that move relative to each other to control the passage of current, and a contact driving unit that creates movement of the first and second contacts of the blocking unit, a first tank that provides insulating gas to extinguish an arc generated when current is blocked by the first and second contacts, a second tank that provides insulating gas to the first tank and is connected to the blocking unit outer case to receive insulating gas from the blocking unit outer case, and a gas pump that pressurizes insulating gas transferred from the blocking unit outer case to the second tank, and a gas supply unit that is provided on the outside of the blocking unit outer case.

[0017] The contact driving unit may be positioned outside one end of the above-mentioned blocking unit outer case, and the gas supply unit may be positioned outside the other end of the above-mentioned blocking unit outer case.

[0018] The above contact driving unit and the above gas supply unit can be connected to the inside of the blocking unit outer case at opposite positions based on the blocking unit outer case.

[0019] The first contact is located within the first conductor, the second contact is located within the second conductor, and the second contact is provided with a nozzle that sprays insulating gas delivered from the first tank toward the first contact, and a communication hole that communicates between the inner space of the outer case and the inner space of the first conductor may be provided at an end of the first conductor on the side where the contact driving unit is located.

[0020] The above gas pump can be connected to the inner space of the outer case and the other end of the blocking outer case.

[0021] The insulating gas pressure P2 of the second tank may be set higher than the insulating gas pressure P1 of the first tank, and the insulating gas pressure P1 of the first tank may be set higher than the insulating gas pressure P3 inside the blocking outer case.

[0022] The connecting pipe connecting the first tank and the blocking outer case may be equipped with an injection valve that delivers the insulating gas of the first tank to the blocking outer case for arc extinguishing.

[0023] A first pressure regulating valve is installed between the first tank and the second tank, so that when the pressure of the first tank falls below a reference value, the insulating gas of the second tank is transferred to the first tank, and a second pressure regulating valve is installed between the second tank and the blocking outer case, so that when the pressure of the insulating gas inside the blocking outer case falls below a reference value, the insulating gas of the second tank can be transferred to the blocking outer case.

[0024] A first relief valve is installed between the first tank and the blocking outer case, so that when the pressure of the insulating gas in the first tank becomes higher than a reference value, the insulating gas in the first tank flows into the blocking outer case, and a second relief valve is installed in the second tank, so that when the pressure of the insulating gas in the second tank becomes higher than a reference value, the insulating gas can be discharged from the second tank to the outside.

[0025] The second tank may further be equipped with a refill valve to enable filling of insulating gas from the outside.

[0026] The connecting pipe connecting the second tank and the blocking outer box in which the gas pump is installed may be equipped with filters on the input and output sides of the gas pump, respectively.

[0027] A linkage control unit is further provided for linkage between the above contact driving unit and the gas supply unit, and the linkage control unit can control the operation of the gas supply unit in conjunction with the operation signals of the first and second contacts.

[0028] The eco-friendly gas circuit breaker according to the present invention may have at least one of the following effects.

[0029] The present invention allows for the pressure of eco-friendly gas used as insulating gas in a gas circuit breaker to be directly set, enabling its use for arc extinguishing. This significantly facilitates the introduction of eco-friendly gas into gas circuit breakers.

[0030] In the present invention, a first tank and a second tank are placed outside the circuit breaker outer case of a gas circuit breaker, and the first tank, the circuit breaker outer case, and the second tank are sequentially connected so that the pressure is set while the insulating gas for arc extinguishing flows. Therefore, when the insulating gas for arc extinguishing is delivered into the circuit breaker outer case, the pressure of the first tank can be set more stably and quickly with the insulating gas delivered from the second tank, so that the arc extinguishing can be more reliably performed.

[0031] In the present invention, the insulating gas for arc protection is stored in the first tank and the second tank outside the blocking outer case and then delivered to the blocking outer case, so there is also an effect that the size of the blocking outer case can be relatively reduced.

[0032] In the present invention, the pressure of insulating gas within the gas circuit breaker blocking unit outer case is maintained using the first tank and the second tank. By moving the insulating gas between the first tank, the blocking unit outer case, and the second tank, the pressure of the insulating gas can be maintained without exhausting the gas to the outside, thereby solving problems such as loss of the insulating gas.

[0033] In the present invention, a gas supply unit including a first tank and a second tank is configured to deliver insulating gas into the inner shell of a gas circuit breaker, and is connected to the outer shell of the gas circuit breaker at a position opposite to the contact driving unit, i.e., the actuator, based on the outer shell of the gas circuit breaker. Accordingly, the insulating gas injected for arc extinguishing can travel the longest path within the outer shell of the gas circuit breaker and be delivered to the first tank, thereby enabling the insulating gas that extinguishes the arc to evenly transfer heat within the outer shell.

[0034] In the present invention, it is very easy to set the insulating gas pressure of the first tank, which is connected to the blocking casing through the injection valve, to a constant level. This is because, if the insulating gas pressure of the first tank falls below a reference value, the insulating gas of the second tank is immediately transferred to the first tank through the first pressure regulating valve. Therefore, the insulating gas pressure of the first tank can be maintained at a constant state capable of being injected for arc extinguishing.

[0040] Hereinafter, some embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to exemplary drawings. Furthermore, when describing embodiments of the present invention, if a detailed description of a related known structure or function is deemed to hinder understanding of the embodiments of the present invention, such detailed description will be omitted.

[0041] Additionally, terms such as first, second, A, B, (a), (b), etc. may be used to describe components of embodiments of the present invention. These terms are only intended to distinguish the components from other components, and the nature, order, or sequence of the components are not limited by the terms. When it is described that a component is "connected," "coupled," or "connected" to another component, it should be understood that the component may be directly connected or connected to the other component, but another component may also be "connected," "coupled," or "connected" between each component.

[0042] Hereinafter, the configuration of an exemplary embodiment of an eco-friendly gas circuit breaker according to the present invention will be examined. The gas circuit breaker of this exemplary embodiment can use an eco-friendly gas as an insulating gas. Examples of the insulating gas include air, CO2, N2, O2, or a mixture thereof. The gas circuit breaker of this exemplary embodiment includes a circuit breaker (10), a contact driving unit (20), a gas supply unit (30), and a linkage control unit (40).

[0043] The above-mentioned blocking part (10) has an outer shell (11) formed as an outer surface. Inside the blocking part outer shell (11), there is a predetermined inner space (12). The blocking part outer shell (11) may be formed in an approximately cylindrical shape as a whole. The blocking part outer shell (11) may have a connecting part (13) to which an additional outer shell (not shown) is connected. Inside the blocking part outer shell (11), components constituting the blocking part and conductors forming a line may be located.

[0044] A first conductor (110) and a second conductor (120) are provided inside the above-described blocking outer case (11). The first conductor (110) and the second conductor (120) are spaced apart from each other by a predetermined distance, and when the first contact point (112) and the second contact point (122) move relative to each other and come into contact, current can be conducted. The first contact point (112) is within the first conductor (110), and the second contact point (122) is within the second conductor (120). The first contact point (112) may be rod-shaped, and the second contact point (124) may be cylindrical. Alternatively, the second contact point (112) may be cylindrical, and the second contact point (124) may be rod-shaped.

[0045] The first contact point (112) and the second contact point (122) can move relative to each other. For example, the first contact point (112) can move in its longitudinal direction, and the second contact point (122) is fixed, so that the first contact point (112) can come into contact with each other by movement of the first contact point (112) and conduction can be achieved, and the first contact point (112) can be separated by movement in the opposite direction and conduction can be interrupted. In the present embodiment, the first contact point (112) moves and the second contact point (122) is fixed, but the opposite may be achieved, or the first contact point (112) and the second contact point (122) may both be configured to operate.

[0046] In this embodiment, the first contact (112) is operated by a driving force transmitted through the first contact link (114). The first contact link (114) can be moved longitudinally, that is, left and right based on the drawing, by the operation of the contact driving unit (20). Inside the first conductor (110), there is a space in which the first contact (112) and the first contact link (114) are installed, and an insulating gas can flow through the space inside the first conductor (110). In particular, an insulating gas that extinguishes an arc occurring between the first contact (112) and the second contact (122) can flow. There are a plurality of communication holes (116) at one end of the first conductor (110). The above-mentioned communication hole (116) connects the space inside the first conductor (110) and the inner space (12) of the outer case (11) of the blocking outer case. Therefore, insulating gas can flow from the inside of the first conductor (110) to the inner space (12) of the outer case. The communication hole (116) can be located at an end opposite to the end through which the first contact (112) enters and exits the first conductor (110).

[0047] The tip of the second contact point (122) may have a nozzle (124). The first contact point (112) may enter the interior of the second contact point (122) by penetrating the nozzle (124). An insulating gas for extinguishing the arc may be sprayed through the nozzle (124). A communication path (126) for sending the insulating gas to the nozzle (124) may be present within the second conductor (120). The communication path (126) is connected to an injection valve (320) to be described below.

[0048] A mechanism (130) that drives the first contact link (114) by power or control provided from the contact driving unit (20) is located inside the blocking unit outer case (11). The mechanism (130) may be composed of multiple links.

[0049] The above contact driving unit (20) may be operated by an actuator. The contact driving unit (20) operates by receiving a signal from a control unit that controls the gas circuit breaker of the present invention. That is, when a fault current is detected, the contact driving unit (20) operates, and an operating force is transmitted through the mechanism unit (130) and the first contact link (114), so that relative movement of the first contact (112) and the second contact (122) can be performed.

[0050] The above contact driving part (20) is located outside one end of the longitudinal direction of the blocking part outer case (11). The blocking part outer case (11) is extended in one direction, and the contact driving part (20) is located outside adjacent to one end.

[0051] Meanwhile, there is a gas supply unit (30) that provides insulating gas to extinguish an arc that occurs when the first contact (112) and the second contact (122) are separated. The gas supply unit (30) is located opposite the contact driving unit (20). The gas supply unit (30) is located on the outside adjacent to the other longitudinal end of the blocking unit outer case (11). This configuration can be seen in Fig. 1.

[0052] The above gas supply unit (30) comprises a first tank (32) and a second tank (34). Insulating gas is stored in the first tank (32) and the second tank (34). The insulating gas pressure P1 within the first tank (32), the insulating gas pressure P2 within the second tank (34), and the insulating gas pressure P3 within the blocking unit outer case (11) have the following relationship.

[0053] There is a relationship of P2 > P1 > P3. That is, the insulating gas pressure P2 within the second tank (34) is the highest, and the insulating gas pressure P1 within the first tank (32) is between P2 and P3. The insulating gas pressure P3 within the blocking outer case (11) is lower than P1 and P2. The total amount of insulating gas within the first tank (32), the second tank (34), and the blocking outer case (11) must be injected so that the above pressure order is not reversed.

[0054] And, the insulating gas flow between the first tank (32), the second tank (34) and the blocking outer case (11) is such that the insulating gas is sprayed and transferred from the first tank (32) to the blocking outer case (11), and the insulating gas in the blocking outer case (11) is transferred to the second tank (34). At this time, the insulating gas is pressurized by the gas pump (35) and transferred from the blocking outer case (11) to the second tank (34). And the relatively high-pressure insulating gas in the second tank (34) can be transferred into the first tank (32).

[0055] There is an injection valve (320) in the connecting pipe (320') connecting the first tank (32) and the blocking outer case (11). The injection valve (320) controls the flow of insulating gas between the first tank (32) and the blocking outer case (11). When the injection valve (320) is opened, insulating gas is injected from the first tank (32) into the communication path (126) of the blocking outer case (11). The operation of the injection valve (320) is performed by the injection valve control unit (322). The injection valve control unit (322) may be substantially a control unit of a gas circuit breaker.

[0056] A first pressure gauge (324) detects the pressure (P1) of the insulating gas inside the first tank (32) in the first gas tank (32). A first pressure regulating valve (326) is installed in a connecting pipe (326') connecting the first tank (32) and the second tank (34). The first pressure regulating valve (326) opens when the pressure value of the first tank (32) drops below a reference value. Therefore, the insulating gas is supplied from the second tank (34) to the first tank (32) by the operation of the first pressure regulating valve (326). The pressure of the first tank (32) can always be maintained constant by the operation of the first pressure regulating valve (326). The first pressure regulating valve (326) is a manual valve that operates without a separate operating device.

[0057] And, a first relief valve (328) is installed in the connecting pipe (328') connecting the first tank (32) and the blocking outer case (11). If the pressure inside the first tank (32) rises above a reference value, a problem may occur in the mechanical durability of the first tank (32) itself. To prevent this, the first relief valve (328) is used. If the insulating gas inside the first tank (32) has excessive pressure, the first relief valve (328) releases the insulating gas into the blocking outer case (11) to maintain the pressure inside the first tank (32) at a reference value. The first relief valve (328) is a manual valve that operates without a separate operating device.

[0058] A second pressure regulating valve (342) is installed in the connecting pipe (342') connecting the second tank (34) and the circuit breaker outer case (11). The second pressure regulating valve (342) operates when the pressure of the insulating gas inside the circuit breaker outer case (11) falls below a reference value, thereby supplying insulating gas from the second tank (34) to the circuit breaker outer case (11). The second pressure regulating valve (342) is also a type of manual valve that is opened and closed by the pressure on the low pressure side without an operating device.

[0059] The second tank (34) has a second pressure gauge (344) to detect the pressure (P2) of the insulating gas inside the second tank (34). Various controls related to the second tank (34) can be performed based on the pressure value detected by the second pressure gauge (344).

[0060] A second relief valve (346) is connected to the second tank (34). Through the second relief valve (346), the insulating gas can be discharged to the outside when the pressure of the insulating gas within the second tank (34) is higher than a reference value. Although the pressure within the second tank (34) is set to a reference value, it can change depending on various environmental factors such as changes in the surrounding temperature. Data for the operation of the second relief valve (346) can also be transmitted through the second pressure gauge (344).

[0061] A refill valve (348) is connected to the second tank (34). Insulating gas can be filled into the second tank (34) through the refill valve (348). Therefore, when the amount of insulating gas inside the entire gas circuit breaker is insufficient compared to the standard value, insulating gas can be supplemented through the refill valve (348). Since the refill valve (348) is connected to the second tank (34), insulating gas can be filled without affecting the situation inside the blocking unit outer case (11). In other words, insulating gas can be filled into the entire gas circuit breaker without stopping the operation of the blocking unit (10).

[0062] A gas pump (35) is installed in the connecting pipe (35') connecting the above-mentioned blocking outer case (11) and the second tank (34). The gas pump (35) penetrates the blocking outer case (11) and is connected to the inner space (12) of the outer case. At this time, the part connected to the inner space (12) of the outer case is the other end in the longitudinal direction of the blocking outer case (11), and should be located at the other end of the blocking outer case (11) based on the position of the nozzle (124).

[0063] The above gas pump (35) operates when the pressure inside the blocking outer case (11) increases, compresses the insulating gas, and sends it to the second tank (34). For this purpose, the blocking outer case (11) has an outer gas gauge (140). The pump control unit (350) controls the operation of the gas pump (35) using the pressure value transmitted through the outer gas gauge (140). A filter (352.352') is installed in the connecting pipe (35') corresponding to the input and output terminals of the gas pump (35) to filter out foreign substances in the insulating gas.

[0064] The above-mentioned linkage control unit (40) is for linkage between the contact driving unit (20) and the gas supply unit (30). Of course, if the operation of the gas supply unit (30) is performed by a separate signal, the linkage control unit (40) is not necessary. However, since it is necessary for the gas supply unit (30) to operate in conjunction with the operation signals of the first contact (112) and the second contact (122) provided from the contact driving unit (20), the linkage control unit (40) is used.

[0065] The above-mentioned linkage control unit (40) may be a mechanical link that injects high-pressure insulating gas from the gas supply unit (30) after the gap between the contacts (112, 122) of the blocking unit (10) is spaced apart to a blockable distance by the energy provided from the contact driving unit (20).

[0066] Alternatively, the above-mentioned linkage control unit (40) may be a gas pipe and valve that injects high-pressure insulating gas from the gas supply unit (30) after the gap between the contacts (112, 122) of the blocking unit (10) is spaced apart to a blockable distance by the energy of the contact driving unit (20).

[0067] Alternatively, the above-mentioned linkage control unit (40) may be an electronic switch that injects high-pressure insulating gas from the gas supply unit (30) after the gap between the contacts (112, 122) of the blocking unit (10) is spaced apart to a blockable distance by the energy of the contact driving unit (20).

[0068] Hereinafter, the use of an eco-friendly gas circuit breaker according to the present invention having the configuration described above will be described in detail.

[0069] The present invention is a gas circuit breaker using insulating gas, and the insulating gas for extinguishing an arc is supplied from a first tank (32) of a gas supply unit (30) located outside the circuit breaker outer case (11). There are various insulating gases, but an example of such an insulating gas is an environmentally friendly gas.

[0070] That is, when the first contact (112) and the second contact (122) are separated, that is, when the circuit breaker is opened, an arc occurs between the first contact (112) and the second contact (122), and the arc is extinguished using the insulating gas provided from the first tank (32). For this purpose, the injection valve (320) is opened. When the injection valve (320) is opened, the insulating gas in the first tank (32) passes through the injection valve (320) and flows into the communication path (126) of the inner space (12) of the outer case.

[0071] The insulating gas flowing along the above-mentioned communication path (126) is sprayed through the nozzle (124) to extinguish the arc generated between the first contact (112) and the second contact (122). In this way, the pressure of the insulating gas within the first tank (32) decreases, and the pressure of the insulating gas within the blocking outer case (11) increases.

[0072] In this way, when the pressure of the insulating gas inside the blocking outer case (11) increases, the gas pump (35) operates. By the operation of the gas pump (35), a portion of the insulating gas inside the blocking outer case (11) passes through the filter (352) and is sucked into the gas pump (35). The insulating gas entering the gas pump (35) is pressurized, discharged from the gas pump (35), passes through the filter (352') and enters the second tank (34). The insulating gas stored in the second tank (34) is pressurized by the gas pump (35) and stored in the second tank (34) at a set reference pressure. By compressing the insulating gas by the gas pump (35), the pressure of the insulating gas stored in the second tank (34) is relatively higher than the pressure of the insulating gas inside the blocking outer case (11).

[0073] And, when the pressure of the insulating gas inside the first tank (32) drops below the reference value, the first pressure regulating valve (326) opens and the insulating gas in the second tank (34) flows into the first tank (32). At this time, the insulating gas is delivered and filled until the first tank (32) reaches the set reference value by the operation of the first pressure regulating valve (326). When the pressure inside the first tank (32) reaches the set reference value, the first pressure regulating valve (326) is shut off.

[0074] This operating state is indicated by an arrow in Fig. 3. That is, it indicates that the insulating gas flows between the first tank (32), the blocking outer case (11), the gas pump (35), and the second tank (34).

[0075] Meanwhile, in FIG. 4, the operation of the first relief valve (328) is indicated by arrow A. The first relief valve (328) is operated when the pressure of the insulating gas inside the first tank (32) becomes higher than the reference value. That is, the first relief valve (328) is operated when the pressure of the insulating gas measured by the first pressure gauge (324) exceeds the reference value of the first tank (32). When the first relief valve (328) is opened, the insulating gas inside the first tank (32) can be transferred into the inside of the blocking outer case (11). This operation can be performed until the pressure of the insulating gas inside the first tank (32) becomes the reference value.

[0076] Next, when the pressure of the insulating gas in the second tank (34) is higher than the reference value, the insulating gas is discharged to the outside through the second relief valve (346). This is indicated by arrow B in Fig. 4. If the pressure of the insulating gas in the second tank (34) becomes higher than the reference value due to various reasons such as the surrounding temperature, problems may occur with the durability of the second tank (34), etc. Therefore, the pressure of the second tank (34) is maintained at the reference value by discharging the insulating gas to the outside through the second relief valve (346).

[0077] When the pressure of the insulating gas inside the above-described blocking outer case (11) falls below the reference value, the second pressure regulating valve (342) is operated. By operating the second pressure regulating valve (342), the insulating gas inside the second tank (34) can be delivered to the above-described blocking outer case (11). This is indicated by arrow C in Fig. 4.

[0078] Additionally, the insulating gas pressure within the second tank (34) may fall below the reference value. This may occur when the insulating gas leaks from the entire gas circuit breaker to the outside or is consumed for various reasons. In this case, the insulating gas is replenished from the outside through the refill valve (348). This is indicated by arrow D in Fig. 4.

[0079] For reference, even though the insulating gas pressure of the first tank (32) and the blocking outer case (11) is normal, the insulating gas pressure of the second tank (34) may be lower than the standard value. This may be due to a decrease in the total amount of gas within the gas circuit breaker due to gas leakage or consumption of insulating gas due to an arc. Therefore, by monitoring the second tank (34), monitoring of the entire gas circuit breaker is possible.

[0080] Meanwhile, FIG. 5 illustrates that the insulating gas of the first tank (32) flows through the injection valve (320) and is sprayed in the direction of arrow E from the nozzle (124) through the communication passage (126). At this time, the insulating gas sprayed from the nozzle (124) can pass through the space inside the first conductor (110) and flow into the inner space (12) of the outer case through the communication port (116). (See arrow F)

[0081] The insulating gas flowing into the inner space (12) of the outer case through the communication port (116) can be moved in the direction of arrow G by the suction force of the gas pump (35). The insulating gas flowing in the direction of arrow G by the suction force of the gas pump (35) is sucked into the gas pump (35). Therefore, as can be seen in FIG. 5, the flow of the insulating gas within the inner space (12) of the outer case starts from the nozzle (124) inside the outer case of the blocking part (11), flows to one end of the outer case of the blocking part (11), that is, to the end adjacent to the contact driving part (20), passes through the communication port (116), and flows again to the opposite end of the outer case of the blocking part (11). Therefore, the insulating gas containing thermal energy by extinguishing the arc can evenly release heat while flowing from one side to the other inside the outer case of the blocking part (11).
