Description

[0001] SOLAR PANEL SUSPENSION SYSTEMS AND WIND-RESPONSIVE SOLAR PANELS

[0002] TECHNICAL FIELD

[0003] The embodiments herein relate to solar energy capturing systems, such as solar panels, solar panel arrays, mounting systems for solar panels, and the like. In particular, solar panel suspension systems, a solar cell assembly and a solar cell rod are disclosed.

[0004] BACKGROUND

[0005] Solar energy capturing systems are used to convert light energy to electricity. The conversion of light to electricity is performed by a solar cell, aka photovoltaic cell. The solar cell can be a crystalline silicon cell, a th in-film cell or the like.

[0006] A number of solar cells are connected to each other, in combination with at least one protective layer - where the protective layer protects the solar cells from water, and in some cases also from wind, hail, etc. - to form what is commonly referred to as a solar panel. A solar panel can be provided with a frame, or it can be frameless. Generally, the solar panel can be connected to a junction box that is electrically wired to the solar cells of the solar panel. The junction box typically has a bypass diode and cables for electrically connecting to another junction box for another solar panel, to an inverter, a battery or the like. In this manner, the solar panel can be short-circuited if it generates no or too little electricity.

[0007] Furthermore, solar panels can be classified into two main categories: inflexible solar panels and flexible solar panels.

[0008] Inflexible solar panels, which can be made of crystalline silicon solar cells or th in-film solar cells, are commonly used in traditional solar panel installations, such as roof installations, field installations and the like. They offer high efficiency and durability but are heavier than flexible solar panels due to rigid structure and material requirements for protection of the solar cells. Moreover, inflexible solar panels can have a longer lifespan and higher energy conversion efficiency than flexible solar panels.

[0009] Flexible solar panels, which are typically made of either crystalline silicon solar cells that are substantially thinner than in inflexible solar panels or thin-film solar cells, are lightweight and bendable, providing versatility in various applications. Flexible solar panels generally have lower efficiency compared to inflexible panels, but they offer advantages in terms of reduced weight. The lightweight nature of flexible solar panels makes them suitable for applications where weight is a critical factor, such as for portable electronics with curved surfaces, surfaces of vehicles and the like. The cost of flexible solar panels is often higher due to its advanced manufacturing processes. Also, the lower efficiency may require more cells to generate the desired power output, which hence also drives cost.

[0010] The choice between inflexible and flexible solar panels depends on specific application requirements. If efficiency, longevity, and large power output are crucial, inflexible solar panels may be preferred due to their lower cost per watt, despite their higher weight. Conversely, if flexibility and lightweight design are priorities, but cost is not, flexible solar panels can be a good choice.

[0011] A known inflexible solar panel generally includes a stack of layers and a junction box for connecting to other solar panels and / or a DC / AC-converter for connection to an electrical grid. The stack includes a solar cell layer for production of electricity when exposed to light. The solar cell layer includes wiring for interconnecting cells in the solar cell layer and the junction box that is used for feeding electricity to another solar panel, or the electrical grid. The solar cell layer is encapsulated by a top encapsulating layer and a bottom encapsulating layer, which protect the solar cell layer from dust, moist or the like. The solar cells are made from silicon wafers, having a thickness of about 0.1mm or more. A protective glass layer is provided on the top encapsulating layer to protect the solar cell layer from being damaged, due to e.g. hail, debris, etc. The protective glass layer can include fiber glass, hardened glass or the like. A back layer is stacked under the bottom encapsulating layer. The back layer can be transparent, non-transparent or reflective. The solar panel can be frameless, but sometimes a periphery of the stack can be provided with a frame for facilitating fastening of the solar panel into a solar panel fastening system.

[0012] A known flexible solar panel generally also includes a stack of layers. However, a solar cell layer of the flexible solar panel has a thickness of merely a few micrometers (pm). Thereby, allowing the solar cell layer to bend, or flex. Furthermore, whereas the known inflexible solar panel includes a combined encapsulating and solar cell layer that is sandwiched between layers of hardened glass, a corresponding combined encapsulating and solar cell layer of the known flexible solar panel is sandwiched between layers of protective and elastic plastic.

[0013] US2022151163 discloses a method and apparatus for generating solar power in agricultural fields while minimally impacting crop growth and farming efforts, including positioning an elongated solar panel above crops, wherein the elongated solar panel runs generally parallel to longitudinal lines and wherein the elongated solar panel has at least one solar transducing face and an endless edge surrounding and perpendicular to the at least one solar transducing face, automatically pivoting the elongated solar panel such that the at least one solar transducing face is oriented parallel to incident solar rays during predetermined times when plant growth requires incident sunlight, automatically pivoting the elongated solar panel such that the at least one solar transducing face is oriented parallel to the vertical during rain, automatically pivoting the elongated solar panel out of the way of heavy farm equipment, and automatically pivoting the elongated solar panel such that the at least one solar transducing face is oriented perpendicular to incident solar rays at predetermined times when plant growth does not require direct sunlight. The elongated solar panel is positioned sufficiently above crops to give clearance to heavy farm equipment passing therebelow and / or adjacent panels are spaced sufficiently apart such that heavy farm equipment may pass therebetween.

[0014] US16413352 discloses a photovoltaic (PV) module or an array of PV modules which are pivotally mounted from an upper edge and thus designed to hang under the force of gravity and to swing about the upper edge responsive to wind.

[0015] US9494343B2 discloses a partially non-rigid solar capture mounting system which reduces the risk of damage due to wind. The solar capture mounting system includes at least one pole, a horizontal beam mounted to the pole, and at least one backing plate hanging from the horizontal beam via a pivotal connection. Examples of pivotal connection are bushings with ball bearings, hinges, steel rings and spring clips. Each of the backing plates supports at least one solar cell. Wind pressure against a backing plate pivots the backing plate about the horizontal beam such that the system experiences reduced stress and reduced risk of damage due to wind and wind carried objects.

[0016] US20100077592 discloses a method for hanging solar panels from a horizontal support. In one example embodiment, the method comprises pivotally coupling one or more solar panels to a rigid support, wherein the one or more of solar panels are free to rotate about the rigid support. The rigid support is substantially horizontal to the ground level and the one or more solar panels have a backside and front side. The one or more solar panels further comprises a counterweight rigidly attached to the backside. The counterweight tilts the one or more solar panels so as to increase exposure of the front side to the sun.

[0017] SUMMARY

[0018] The present disclosure includes various aspects of a solar panel suspension system. These aspects can be applied to the solar panel suspension system separately or in a combination of one or more thereof. These aspects of the solar panel suspension system include "cable aspect", "angle aspect", "rotation aspect", "area aspect" and "hoisting aspect". It shall be understood that a feature described in relation to one aspect can typically be applied and used in combination with any other aspect unless evidently incompatible.

[0019] Further aspects disclosed herein relate to a solar cell rod, a solar cell assembly, a solar rod assembly and an elongated arrangement of wind-responsive solar panels. An object may be to provide a solar panel suspension system with a reduced cost. This, and possibly other objects, is achieved by at least some aspects of the exemplifying solar panel suspension systems as set forth herein, such as the cable aspect of the solar panel suspension system.

[0020] Accordingly, there is provided a solar panel suspension system for suspending wind-responsive solar panels above ground, thereby making the ground available. The solar panel suspension system comprises two elongated suspension structures directly or indirectly connected to the ground and located at a distance from the ground. The solar panel suspension system further comprises a first elongated arrangement comprising a first set of the wind-responsive solar panels, i.e. a first set of wind-responsive solar panels selected from among the wind-responsive solar panels suspended in the solar panel suspension system. The first set of wind-responsive solar panels, e.g. a first proper subset of the wind-responsive solar panels, can represent a first row of wind-responsive solar panels. Additionally, the solar panel suspension system comprises a second elongated arrangement comprising a second set of the wind-responsive solar panels, i.e. - correspondingly as above - a second set of wind-responsive solar panels selected from among the wind-responsive solar panels suspended in the solar panel suspension system. As above, the second set of wind-responsive solar panels, e.g. a second proper subset of the wind-responsive solar panels, can represent a second row of wind-responsive solar panels. The first and second sets of wind-responsive solar panels are different, non-overlapping or the like, in terms of which wind-responsive solar panel(s) of the solar panel suspension system that is, or are, included in a respective one of the first and second sets. The first and second elongated arrangements run transversally to the two elongated suspension structures. Each one of the first and second elongated arrangements is suspended and extends between the two elongated suspension structures, wherein the first and second elongated arrangements run alongside each other, e.g. without crossing each other. The solar panel suspension system further comprises a cable, such as at least one cable. The cable is arranged to electrically connect, serially or in parallel, the first set of wind-responsive solar panels to the second set of wind- responsive solar panels. At least a portion of the cable is freely suspended, e.g. hangs freely movable. The portion of the cable extends between and runs across the first and second elongated arrangements, i.e. a main extension direction of the cable can be transversal to, e.g. perpendicular to, a main extension direction of the first and second elongated arrangements.

[0021] As an example, the portion of the cable, or portions of the cables as the case may be, runs transversally with respect to rows of wind-responsive solar panels hanging in the first and second elongated arrangement, respectively. Thanks to that the portion(s) of the cable(s) is freely suspended between the first and second elongated arrangements a total length of the cable(s) for the solar panel suspension system can be reduced, e.g. as compared to arranging a path of the cable(s) to run e.g. along the first elongated arrangement to one of the two elongated suspension structures, then along said one of the two elongated suspension structures and yet further along the second elongated arrangement to electrically connect the wind-responsive solar panels thereof.

[0022] In some examples, the solar panel suspension system is a large-scale solar park. The solar panel suspension system can then have multiple elongated arrangements, such as 3, 4, 5 or more as required by the circumstances. Further, each of said multiple elongated arrangements can then be provided with a plurality of wind-responsive solar panels. In these examples, a gain from a reduction of the required length of the cables is accentuated.

[0023] In some embodiments, the first and second elongated arrangements are parallel with each other.

[0024] In some embodiments, the first and second elongated arrangements are horizontal.

[0025] In some embodiments, the first and second elongated arrangements are perpendicular to the two elongated, suspension structures.

[0026] In some embodiments, the first and second elongated arrangements and the two elongated, suspension structures span a surface or a plane, such as a geometric plane XZ, a slightly bent surface, a wave-shaped surface, or the like. The plane or the surface can be horizontal or tilted. The geometric plane XZ can herein sometimes be referred to as a third plane.

[0027] In some embodiments, the cable can be included in a set of cables for electrically interconnecting the wind-responsive solar panels associated with, or provided at, a respective one of the elongated arrangements. In these embodiments, each cable of the set of cables can be seen as a respective copy of the cable referred to as above and having corresponding features, such as main features and optional features.

[0028] The cable can include one or more electrically conducting lines, e.g. electrically insulated from each other. As an example, the cable can include two electrically conducting lines, e.g. for plus and minus of an electrical system according to known manners.

[0029] In some embodiments, the first and second elongated arrangements comprises a respective solar cell rod, or "rod" for short, that is provided with the first or second set of wind-responsive solar panels, respectively. The first and second set of wind-responsive solar panels extend, towards the ground, from a respective bottom surface of the respective rod. Each end of the cable is connected, directly or indirectly, to the respective solar cell rod.

[0030] In some embodiments, said each end of the cable is indirectly connected to the respective solar cell rod via a respective junction device. The junction device can manage said one or more respective wind-responsive solar panels, such as electrically connecting or disconnecting said one or more respective wind-responsive solar panels from a parallel or serial circuit of further wind-responsive solar panels, e.g. associated with other elongated arrangements. The junction device can be at least partially panel-shaped, sheet-shaped or the like. In this manner, the junction device can be inserted into the solar cell rod and connected thereto similarly to how the wind responsive solar panels, such as the examples of the solar cell assembly herein - which are described further below - are held and connected to the solar cell rod.

[0031] In some embodiments, each end of the cable is connected, directly or indirectly, to respective wind- responsive solar panels of the first and second sets of wind-responsive solar panels, respectively. Each wind-responsive solar panel can include a cable connector. That is, an electrical connection between the first and second sets of wind-responsive solar panels does not necessarily pass through the rod, but it can do in some examples. When the electrical connection between the first and second sets of wind-responsive solar panels pass through the rod, each end of the cable is connected directly to a connector in the solar cell rod, or a connector in the junction device, or the like.

[0032] In some examples, the portion of the cable runs along the two elongated suspension structures at a distance from at least one of them, or further away than the distance. In more detail, there can be a respective distance from each one of the two elongated suspension structures, or sometimes it can be the same distance from both of the two elongated suspension structures. The distance can be 1 m, 2 m, 3 m, 4 m, 5 m or the like. The portion of the cable can be arranged at the distance that matches connectors for the ends of the cables, wherein the connector can be located at the solar cell rod, at a junction device e.g. attached in the rod, or the like.

[0033] In some embodiments, each cable of two or more of the cables of the set of cables connects at least one wind-responsive solar panel, associated with one row, e.g. a corresponding elongated arrangement, such as the first elongated arrangement, to at least one other wind-responsive solar panel, associated with another row, e.g. a corresponding other elongated arrangement, such as the second elongated arrangement. Thus, there can be multiple cables that connect various solar panels of two or more different rows. In some embodiments, a first row is formed by at least a further first set of wind-responsive solar panels and a second row is formed by at least a further second set of wind-responsive solar panels, wherein the cable is comprised in the set of cables.

[0034] In some embodiments, the portion of the cable at least partially, preferably mostly, runs at the same or lower level relatively the ground as solar cells of the first and second sets of wind-responsive solar panels, e.g. a lowest solar cell of the first and second sets of wind-responsive solar panels.

[0035] In some embodiments, said each end of the cable is directly or indirectly connected to the first and second sets of wind-responsive solar panels, respectively. The ends of the cable can be indirectly connected to the first and second sets of wind-responsive solar panels, respectively, via a respective junction device, e.g. one junction device for each set.

[0036] In some embodiments, the portion of the cable runs, e.g. extends, between respective distal parts of the first and second elongated arrangement, e.g. between distal parts of the wind-responsive solar panel(s) associated with the first and / or second elongated arrangements. The respective distal parts are located transversally a direction of the first and second rows and distally with respective to an upper portion thereof. In this manner, the portion of the cable runs such as to avoid, or at least reduce, casting of shadow(s) on the wind-responsive solar cells of the solar panel suspension system. In this manner, the portion of the cable can be arranged to be non-obstructive, or less obstructive, with respect to light incident on the solar cells.

[0037] In some embodiments, the first and second sets of wind-responsive solar panels correspond to each other in terms of position of their respective connectors, e.g. same relative position, e.g. same ordinal count of solar panel in their respective rows, e.g. position as in distance from beginning / end of row or the like.

[0038] An object may be to provide a solar panel suspension system with an improved efficiency. This, and possibly other objects, is achieved by at least some aspects of the exemplifying solar panel suspension systems, such as the angle aspect of the solar panel suspension system, as set forth herein.

[0039] Accordingly, there is provided a solar panel suspension system for suspending wind-responsive solar panels above ground, thereby making the ground available. The solar panel suspension system comprises two suspension structures directly or indirectly connected to the ground and located at a distance from the ground. Each of the two suspension structures can be a respective distal end of a respective beam, e.g. being substantially vertical. The solar panel suspension system further comprises an elongated arrangement, e.g. at least one elongated arrangement. The elongated arrangement comprises the wind-responsive solar panels. The elongated arrangement is suspended and extends between the two suspension structures. Moreover, the solar panel suspension system comprises an elongated support, such as a wire, a bar, a stick, a beam, or the like, suspended and extending between the two suspension structures. The elongated support is arranged, and e.g. located, to directly or indirectly hold, at a distal portion of the elongated arrangement, the wind- responsive solar panels, at an angle, e.g. relatively a vertical plane XY.

[0040] In some embodiments, the elongated support is arranged, e.g. positioned, to hold, directly at the distal portion of the elongated arrangement, or the wind-responsive solar panel, at the angle. This means for example that the wind-responsive solar panel of the elongated arrangement or a projecting element of the elongated arrangement leans on the elongated support, e.g. when held at the angle. The projecting element can project from an upper portion of the elongated arrangement towards the ground. The projecting element can be comprised in a junction device or a solar cell rod as described herein.

[0041] A position of the elongated support can be adjusted to adjust the angle. This can for example be achieved by that ends of the elongated support are mountable at one of a respective plurality of locations at each one of the two suspension structures. Alternatively or additionally, the angle can be adjusted based on a length of the elongated support, e.g. when realized as a wire, where a longer wire decreases the angle due to parabolic shape of a hanging wire.

[0042] An advantage can also be that the elongated support can be moved not to interact with the elongated arrangement and thus no longer setting the angle of the elongated arrangement. This provides a fast mechanism for activating or de-activating the angle adjustment achieved by the elongated support.

[0043] In some embodiments, the elongated support is arranged, e.g. positioned, to be connected to the distal portion via an elongated, flexible member, or an elongated, flexible portion of the solar cell assembly, while the wind-responsive solar panel assumes the angle with respect to the vertical plane XY. The elongated support can be connected to the distal portion by that the elongated, flexible member abuts the elongated support. The elongated, flexible member can be a portion of the solar cell assembly. Alternatively, the elongated, flexible member can be attached to the solar cell assembly, e.g. when the elongated, flexible member is separable from the solar cell assembly.

[0044] In some embodiments, the solar panel suspension system comprises a counterweight, e.g. arranged to pull, e.g. by gravitation, at the distal portion of the elongated arrangement, such as the solar cell assembly, the solar cell rod, or the like. The counterweight can be connected directly to the distal portion and / or via the elongated, flexible member. The elongated, flexible member can be connected to the distal portion of the elongated arrangement. The elongated, flexible member runs at least once over the elongated support. The counterweight and / or the elongated, flexible member are arranged to pull the distal portion of the elongated arrangement which thereby assumes the angle at rest. The counterweight can in some examples run freely along the elongated, flexible member. According to other examples, the counterweight can be fixedly attached at a point along a length of the elongated, flexible member.

[0045] The counterweight can have any suitable shape, such as a ball, a block, a cylinder or the like.

[0046] The angle can be predefined or adjustable, e.g. by a user of the system, such as an operator or the like.

[0047] In some embodiments, the elongated, flexible member can be a string, a belt, a wire, a rope, a line, a portion of a flexible layer of the solar cell assembly, or the like.

[0048] In some embodiments, the elongated, flexible member is electrically non-conducting.

[0049] In some embodiments, the elongated, flexible member is electrically conducting. This can be beneficial when the solar panel suspension system comprises two or more rows. In this manner, the elongated, flexible member can, similarly to - or in replacement of - the cable, connect, i.e. both electrically and mechanically, wind-responsive solar panels of different row. Hence, the elongated, flexible member assists in achieving the same or similar angle for the wind-responsive solar panels at different rows, while at the same time electrically connecting the wind-responsive solar panels at different rows. In this fashion, it can be sufficient with one counter-weight and / or one elongated support to control the angle for the different rows, such as two or more rows.

[0050] The elongated, flexible member can comprise, such as be made of, or the like, a flexible plastic material.

[0051] An object may be to provide a solar panel suspension system with an improved efficiency. This, and possibly other objects, is achieved by at least some aspects of the exemplifying solar panel suspension systems, such as the rotation aspect, as set forth herein.

[0052] Accordingly, there is provided a solar panel suspension system for suspending wind-responsive solar panels above ground, thereby making the ground available. The solar panel suspension system comprises two suspension structures indirectly connected to the ground and located at a distance from the ground. Moreover, the solar panel suspension system comprises an elongated arrangement comprising the wind-responsive solar panels, wherein the elongated arrangement is suspended and extends between the two suspension structures. Furthermore, the solar panel suspension system comprises a rotatable, circular structure arranged to rotate the solar panel suspension system in a geometric plane of the ground, wherein the two suspension structures are connected to the ground via the rotatable, circular structure.

[0053] In this manner, it is made possible to adjust an angle in the ground plane such that the wind- responsive solar panels of the solar panel suspension system are directed towards the sun using a single motor. Advantageously, only one control unit control is required to control the wind-responsive solar panels of the solar panel suspension system. Due to low weight of at least some parts of the system, such as one or more of the wind-responsive solar panels, the elongated arrangement(s), the solar cell rods, the solar cell assemblies and the like, the adjustment towards the sun can become power efficient. As a result, an environmentally friendly system can be achieved.

[0054] In some examples several motors can be used, e.g. where each motor can have reduced power as compared to when using the single motor. There can be one motor at the ground where each, or some, suspension structures indirectly connects to the ground.

[0055] In some embodiments, the solar panel suspension system comprises two beams mounted on the rotatable, circular structure, wherein the two beams are arranged to hold the two suspension structures at the distance from the ground. The number of beams can be two, three, four or more.

[0056] In some embodiments, the solar panel suspension system comprises the motor that is arranged, e.g. by means of a control unit, to rotate the rotatable, circular structure. In this manner, the wind- responsive solar panels may be directed towards the sun according to conventional sun tracking procedures. The control unit can be configured with control logics for operating the motor.

[0057] An object may be to provide a solar panel suspension system that is more flexible and / or has lower cost, e.g. in terms of making ground under the solar panel suspension system available and / or the like. This, and possibly other objects, is achieved by at least some aspects of the exemplifying solar panel suspension systems, such as the area aspect, as set forth herein.

[0058] Accordingly, there is provided a solar panel suspension system for suspending wind-responsive solar panels above ground, thereby making the ground available. The solar panel suspension system comprises four beams that are spaced away from each other. Each beam has a non-zero vertical directional component, each beam is connected, e.g. directly or indirectly, to the ground, and each beam has a respective distal end. The solar panel suspension system further comprises two parallel, horizontal elongated support structures, preferably wires. An advantage with wires can be that the distance between the wires can be longer than when a beam of the same weight as the cable is used, while still providing the strength necessary to support the solar panels in the solar panel suspension system.

[0059] Each elongated support structure extends between a respective pair of distal ends of a respective pair of beams of the four beams and each elongated support structure is connected, directly or indirectly, to the respective pair of distal ends.

[0060] Moreover, the solar panel suspension system comprises a first elongated arrangement that is provided with a first set of the wind-responsive solar panels, which extend towards the ground, and a second elongated arrangement that is provided with a second set of the wind-responsive solar panels, which extend towards the ground. The first and second sets of the wind-responsive solar panels are non-overlapping with each other. The first and second elongated arrangements run transversally to the two elongated suspension structures. Each one of the first and second elongated arrangements is suspended and extends between the two elongated suspension structures. The first and second elongated arrangements run alongside each other.

[0061] An advantage can hence be that a very large area above the ground can be used for suspension of solar panels, while at the same time only a few and / or slender beams take up valuable space at the ground level. Additionally, the solar panel suspension system may be sufficiently steady and / or rigid to withstand rough weather conditions, such as rain, wind, at least to a certain extent, hail and the like.

[0062] In more detail, each end of the horizontal elongated support structure can be connected to a respective one of the respective pair of distal ends.

[0063] Furthermore, the two parallel, horizontal elongated support structures and the first and second elongated arrangements can span a surface that is at least partly horizontal, substantially horizontal, or the like. The surface can be a plane. When the two parallel, horizontal elongated support structures comprise, such as are, are embodied as, or the like, two wires, each of said two wires can describe a parabolic graph due to being suspended, an almost straight line or the like. This can be advantageous because wires can be longer than a beam of the same weight while still providing the strength necessary to support the solar panels in the solar panel suspension system.

[0064] In some embodiments, each one of the two parallel, horizontal elongated support structures comprises a respective wire.

[0065] In some embodiments, each one of the two parallel, horizontal elongated support structures is at least 25 meters, at least 35 meters, at least 50 meters, or the like. In some embodiments, the first and second set of wind-responsive solar panels extend towards the ground from a respective bottom surface of the first and second elongated arrangements, respectively.

[0066] In some embodiments, each elongated support structure is suspended between the respective pair of distal ends, e.g. by means of a respective suspension line, at each distal end.

[0067] In some embodiments, each one of the first and second elongated arrangements comprises a respective rod that extends between and connects to, directly or indirectly, said at least two elongated support structures. The respective rod is provided with the first or second set of wind- responsive solar panels, respectively. Each wind-responsive solar panel of the first and second sets of wind-responsive solar panels extends, towards the ground, from a respective bottom surface of the respective rod. The respective bottom surface faces the ground.

[0068] In some embodiments, each one of the first and second elongated arrangements comprises a respective set of interconnectable solar rod assemblies. Each solar rod assembly comprises a respective solar cell rod having a respective line holding portion at each end thereof. The respective solar cell rod is provided with a respective set of the wind-responsive solar panels. The respective set of wind-responsive solar panels extend, towards the ground, from the respective bottom surface of the respective rod. Each one of the first and second elongated arrangements comprises at least two respective suspension lines, arranged to suspend the set of interconnectable solar rod assemblies between the two suspension structures by being connected to the respective line holding portion at each end of the respective rod.

[0069] In some embodiments, the two parallel, horizontal elongated support structures and the first and second elongated arrangements form a rigid quadrangular frame. Each corner of the rigid quadrangular frame is suspended in a respective distal end by means of a respective suspension line,.

[0070] In some embodiments, the respective suspension line, comprises, such as is realized as, or the like, a respective hoisting line, that is conveyed to a motor or to an attachment point accessible for manual hoisting of the rigid quadrangular frame.

[0071] In some embodiments, the solar panel suspension system comprises a third elongated arrangement that is provided with a third set of the wind-responsive solar panels, which extend towards the ground. Each one of the first, second and third elongated arrangements comprises three respective solar cell rods. Each one of the three solar cell rods is provided with the first, second and third set of the wind-responsive solar panels, respectively. The third elongated arrangement can have the same, similar, or corresponding features as the first and / or second elongated arrangement. In some embodiments, the respective rod of at least one of the solar rod assemblies of the set of solar rod assemblies is defined by any one of the examples thereof.

[0072] In some embodiments, at least one wind-responsive solar panel of the respective set of the wind- responsive solar panels of at least one of the solar rod assemblies of the set of solar rod assemblies is defined by any one of the examples of the solar cell assembly herein.

[0073] An object may be to provide a solar panel suspension system that is more flexible and / or has lower cost, e.g. in terms of replacement of solar panels, maintenance cost, installation cost and / or the like. This, and possibly other objects, is achieved by at least some aspects of the exemplifying solar panel suspension systems, such as the interconnection aspect, as set forth herein.

[0074] Accordingly, there is provided a solar panel suspension system for suspending wind-responsive solar panels above ground, thereby making the ground available. The solar panel suspension system comprises two suspension structures indirectly connected to the ground and located at a distance from the ground. The solar panel suspension system further comprises an elongated arrangement for mounting of the wind-responsive solar panels. The elongated arrangement is suspended and extends between the two suspension structures. Furthermore, the elongated arrangement comprises a set of interconnectable solar rod assemblies. Each solar rod assembly of the set of interconnectable solar rod assemblies comprises a respective solar cell rod having a respective line holding portion at each end thereof. The respective solar cell rod is provided with a respective set of the wind-responsive solar panels. The respective set of wind-responsive solar panels extend, towards the ground, from a respective bottom surface of the respective rod. The elongated arrangement comprises at least two suspension lines arranged to suspend the set of interconnectable solar rod assemblies between the two suspension structures by being connected to the respective line holding portion at each end of the respective solar cell rod.

[0075] In this manner, the elongated arrangement, provided with the wind-responsive solar panels, of the solar panel suspension system can form a chain-like structure providing flexibility, low cost and / or user-friendly assembly and maintenance of the solar panel suspension system.

[0076] In some embodiments, the respective solar cell rod of at least one of the solar rod assemblies of the set of solar rod assemblies comprises at least one of the examples of the solar cell rod disclosed herein.

[0077] In some embodiments, the respective set of the wind-responsive solar panels of at least one of the solar rod assemblies of the set of solar rod assemblies comprises at least one of the examples of the solar cell assembly disclosed herein. An object may be to provide a solar panel suspension system that reduces cost in connection with installation and / or maintenance thereof. This, and possibly other objects, is achieved by at least some aspects of the exemplifying solar panel suspension systems, such as the hoisting aspect, as set forth herein.

[0078] Accordingly, there is provided a solar panel suspension system for suspending wind-responsive solar panels above ground, thereby making the ground available. The solar panel suspension system comprises at least two beams that are spaced away from each other. Each beam has a non-zero vertical directional component. The solar panel suspension system further comprises an elongated arrangement that is provided with said at least one wind-responsive solar panel, which extends towards the ground. The elongated arrangement extends between said at least two beams by being connected, directly or indirectly, at a respective distal end of each beam of said at least two beams. Moreover, the elongated arrangement is vertically hoistable, e.g. to adjust the elongated arrangement's height above the ground.

[0079] In some embodiments, the elongated arrangement comprises a set of interconnectable solar rod assemblies, wherein each solar rod assembly comprises a respective solar cell rod that is provided with a respective set of said at least one wind-responsive solar panel, wherein the respective set of wind-responsive solar panels extend towards the ground from a respective bottom surface of the respective solar cell rod.

[0080] In some embodiments, the elongated arrangement, e.g. including the set of solar rod assemblies, is suspended between said at least two beams by means of a respective hoisting line provided at said each beam, wherein the respective hoisting line runs at a respective distal end of said each beam towards and connects, directly or indirectly, to the elongated arrangement that is vertically hoistable by means of the respective hoisting line.

[0081] In some embodiments, the elongated arrangement has two line holding portions at a respective end of the elongated arrangement, wherein each line holding portion of the two line holding portions is adapted to receive and connect to a respective end of the respective hoisting line.

[0082] In some embodiments, the solar panel suspension system comprises a hoisting bar, at which the respective hoisting line is connected, thereby indirectly connecting the respective distal end of said each beam to said each line holding portion.

[0083] In some embodiments, said each beam is provided with a respective hoisting slot having a lower portion and an upper portion, wherein the lower portion is configured to receive a guiding head, wherein a solar cell rod of the elongated arrangement comprises the guiding head, or wherein a hoisting bar comprises the guiding head.

[0084] With the embodiments of the aspects of the solar panel suspension system herein, the solar panel suspension system can be connected to an electricity storage and / or an electrical load.

[0085] An advantage of at least some embodiments of the solar panel suspension systems disclosed herein may be that an amount of area units on ground, e.g. land or sea area, that is occupied per each installed kilowatt is less than in known solar panel systems, such as less than 0.01 square meters / "kW capable of being generated by the system".

[0086] A further advantage of at least some embodiments of the solar panel suspension systems disclosed herein may be that the solar panel suspension system can generate more than 10 kW, while weighing less than 1 kg / 50 W including the wind-responsive solar panels, such as the solar cell assemblies disclosed herein.

[0087] Another object may be to provide a solar cell rod for use in a solar panel suspension system having wind-responsive solar panels. This, and possibly other object, is achieved by the solar cell rod as set forth herein.

[0088] Accordingly, there is provided a solar cell rod adapted to hold at least one wind-responsive solar panel, e.g. according to any one or more of the examples of the solar cell assembly herein. The solar cell rod is elongated along a main extension axis. A bottom surface of the solar cell rod is provided with at least one groove, extending along the main extension axis. The bottom surface can be facing the ground when the solar cell rod is installed in a solar cell mounting system. The groove is adapted to receive a portion of said at least one wind-responsive solar panel. As an example, another portion of said at least one wind-responsive solar panel extends out of the groove when said at least one wind-responsive solar panel is held by the groove. The solar cell rod comprises a solar cell connector configured to electrically connect said at least one wind-responsive solar panel for transfer of electricity. The electrical connection can be serial or parallel. In this manner, the solar cell rod enables manufacturing of a flexible solar panel suspension system with easily replaceable wind-responsive solar panels, since mechanical fastening of the wind-responsive solar panel also achieves an electrical connection between the wind-responsive solar panel and the solar cell rod.

[0089] The solar cell rod can be rigid, such as substantially rigid. The solar cell rod can be stiff, i.e. nonflexible. Parts of the solar cell rod along the main extension axis between grooves, e.g. when multiple grooves exist, can be flexible. In some embodiments, the groove can emerge in, or at, at least one of the ends of the solar cell rod, such as at the short side thereof.

[0090] In some embodiments, a first groove and a second groove can be arranged to receive a first and a second part of a wind-responsive solar panel, i.e. one and the same wind-responsive solar panel. As an example, electricity can enter the solar cell rod at the first groove, and e.g. via the first part of the wind-responsive solar panel, and electricity can exit the solar cell rod at the second groove, and e.g. via the second part of the wind-responsive solar panel. This can for example be beneficial when the wind-responsive solar panel comprises a long row of solar cells, i.e. a single row of solar cells.

[0091] In some embodiments, the solar cell connector is located, or emerges, at an inner surface of said at least one groove, to electrically connect to the wind-responsive solar panel when the wind- responsive solar panel is inserted into the groove. In some embodiments, the inner surface can be parallel with a first plane XY of the solar cell rod. The first plane is parallel with, or coincident with, the wind-responsive solar panel when the wind-responsive solar panel is inserted into and removably mounted in the cavity.

[0092] In some embodiments, the solar cell rod comprises two elongated elements that are attachable alongside each other to form the groove. The two elongated elements can be rigid, flexible, or parts thereof can be flexible to embody various examples of the solar cell rod as disclosed herein.

[0093] In some embodiments, the solar cell connector is located in, such as comprised in, formed in or the like, one of the two elongated elements, e.g. a first elongated element and a second elongated element.

[0094] In some embodiments, the two elongated elements are separable from each other, i.e. they can be detached from each other.

[0095] In some embodiments, the two elongated elements are joined to each other in a foldable manner. Similarly, the two elongated elements can be connected to each other via a joint. The joint can extend along the main extension axis. Thanks to the joint, the two elongated elements are longitudinally foldable in relation to each other. When the two elongated elements are abutting along side each other, the groove is formed. Oppositely, when the two elongated elements are at least partially spaced away from each other, an inner surface of the groove is exposed to allow for the wind-responsive solar panel to be placed at the inner surface and subsequently fastened in the groove.

[0096] In some embodiments, the two elongated elements are transversally foldable in relation to each other. In some embodiments, at least one of the two elongated elements comprises a cavity forming part of the groove when the two elongated elements are abutting alongside each other. The cavity is at least partially enclosed by the inner surface of the groove.

[0097] In some embodiments, the solar cell rod is adapted to receive the wind-responsive solar panel through an opening of the groove in the bottom surface. In these embodiments, the solar cell rod may not necessarily be composed of two elongated elements. Instead, the groove can be configured to be allowed to receive the wind-responsive solar panel through the opening. In order to ensure that the wind-responsive solar panel stays in the groove, screws and screw holes in the solar cell rod can be used to fasten the wind-responsive solar panel. The screws and screw holes can generally run in the third direction. For example, the screw can press, or push, the solar cell assembly against the inner surface of the groove, thereby holding the solar cell assembly.

[0098] Similarly, in some embodiments, the bottom surface is provided with the opening of the groove allowing insertion / extraction of the solar cell rod, e.g. along a second direction Y.

[0099] In some embodiments, the solar cell rod is adapted to receive the solar cell assembly through an aperture of the groove in a short side of the solar cell rod.

[0100] In some embodiments, the short side is provided with the aperture of the groove allowing insertion / extraction of the solar cell rod.

[0101] In some embodiments, a cross-section of the groove has a narrow section adapted to prevent the solar cell assembly from escaping the groove when the solar cell assembly is held by the groove. A plane of the cross-section can be perpendicular to the main extension axis.

[0102] In some embodiments, a shape of at least a portion of the cross-section of said at least one groove is at least partially rectangular, triangular, wedge-shaped, circular or polygonal.

[0103] In some embodiments, the solar cell rod, having two ends comprises a respective line holding portion, located at each end of the two ends. The respective line holding portion is adapted to receive a respective interconnecting line for suspension of the solar cell rod.

[0104] In some embodiments, the respective line holding portion is formed in at least one of the two elongated elements.

[0105] The line holding portion can be formed as a hole, a through-hole, a blind-hole, a pit, a bore, a through-bore or the like. The hole can run a long a line, a curve or the like. This means that a direction of the hole can be constant or vary along a depth of the hole. The direction can be transversal to the main extension axis, parallel to the main extension axis and / or the like. For example, the direction can be along the main extension axis, the direction can be along the second and / or third directions. Moreover, the direction can initially be along one direction and then gradually transfer to run along the second and / or third direction, etc.

[0106] In some embodiments, the solar cell rod comprises a junction device, such as a junction box or the like.

[0107] In some embodiments, the groove comprises a junction connector configured to electrically connect to the junction box for electrically interconnecting two or more solar cell rods. At least a portion of the junction box can be receivable by the groove. The junction box can electrically interconnect two or more solar cell rods serially and / or parallelly.

[0108] In some embodiments, the junction box is integrated with the solar cell rod, e.g. in one of the two elongated elements. As an example, the junction box can be integrated with a protruding portion of the solar cell rod, e.g. a respective portion of one of the two elongated elements.

[0109] In some embodiments, the junction box comprises a connection socket, located in a distal end) thereof. The distal end can be located at the same or lower level as a lowest solar cell of the solar cell assembly. Thereby, enabling that the cables do not shade the solar cell since the cables hang under the solar cells of the solar cell assemblies.

[0110] The junction box can comprise a sheet-shaped part for insertion into the solar cell rod.

[0111] In some embodiments, at least one of the two elongated elements is provided with a protective sheet that extends from said at least one of the two elongated elements to form an air gap between the protective sheet and a solar cell assembly mounted in the groove. The protective sheet can extend in the first plane and along the second direction.

[0112] In some embodiments, the solar cell rod comprises one or more bypass diodes, referred to as "the bypass diode" herein, electrically connected to be able to bypass at least one solar cell assembly when mounted in the solar cell rod. Accordingly, the bypass diode can be built-in to the solar cell rod. In this manner, fewer and / or shorter cables can be used. An advantage can hence be that cost is reduced and the assembly process can be simplified. In some embodiments, the junction box can comprise the bypass diode.

[0113] According to some aspects, there is provided an elongated arrangement comprising the solar cell rod and at least one solar cell assembly.

[0114] In some embodiments, the elongated arrangement comprises the junction box. In view of the systems where the solar panels are suspended in a manner such that the solar panels are movable in response to wind, a problem with the aforementioned known solar panel can be related to its heavy weight or the like. As described above, flexible solar panel can be a good choice when seeking light-weight solar panels, but at the expense of cost.

[0115] An object may be to reduce, or eliminate, shortcomings, problems and / or disadvantages of the aforementioned known solar panels. This, and possibly other object, is achieved by the solar cell assembly as set forth herein. In some examples, a further object may be to provide a lightweight solar cell assembly that is adapted for mounting that allows the solar cell assembly to be resilient to wind, while reducing cost as compared to at least some known solar panels. In some examples, an object may be to provide a solar cell assembly that is fast and easy to install in a solar panel system with panels that move in response to wind.

[0116] Another object is to provide solar cell assemblies, solar panels and / or solar panels to be mounted in a mounting system that are resilient to hail, wind, snow loads, roaming animals and people, gnawing rodents, and growing vegetation.

[0117] Accordingly, there is provided a solar cell assembly, having a sheet-shape that extends in a main extension plane XY thereof. The solar cell assembly comprises a mounting edge for suspension of the solar cell assembly. The mounting edge runs in a first direction X in the main extension plane XY along a portion of a periphery of the solar cell assembly. The solar cell assembly also comprises a flexible region extending from the mounting edge in the main extension plane XY and along a second direction Y, which is perpendicular to the first direction X. Moreover, the solar cell assembly comprises a solar cell region that comprises one or more solar cells for converting solar energy to electricity. The solar cell region extends from the flexible region in the main extension plane XY and along the second direction Y. The solar cell region can be mechanically and electrically connected to the mounting edge via the flexible region. The flexible region comprises electrical conductors for electrically connecting said one or more solar cells to the mounting edge. The flexible region is more flexible than the solar cell region.

[0118] In this manner, examples of a wind-responsive solar panel is achieved. The solar cell assembly can be light-weight, and often fast and / or easy to mount. Moreover, the solar cell assembly can advantageously flex and / or move in response to wind, whereby solar cells of the solar cell assembly are protected from breakage due to unfavorable bending.

[0119] In some embodiments, the solar cell region is provided with at least one stiffening element extending in the second direction Y along at least one solar cell of said one more solar cells. Thanks to the stiffening element, the solar cell(s) of the solar cell region is / are protected from harmful bending thereof, while the solar cell assembly itself is still allowed to flex, e.g. mainly due to flexing of the flexible region. In this manner, the solar cell assembly enables use of thicker solar cells, that can be more prone to break than th in-film solar cells during bending. Notably, these thicker solar cell(s) does in the examples of the solar cell assembly not break due to moving with the wind and / or bending occurs in the flexible region. As a result, cost of the solar cell assembly can be reduced. For example, crystalline solar cells, e.g. having a thickness of 0.1 pm or more, can be comprised in the solar cell region.

[0120] The stiffening element can contribute to that the flexible region is more flexible than the solar cell region. In this manner, the solar cell(s) are protected from breakage due to undesired bending, flexing or the like. This can mean that bending mainly occurs in other less fragile parts of the panel, such as in the flexible region.

[0121] In some embodiments, the stiffening element is transparent, or at least partly transparent. This can mean that at least some parts of the stiffening element can be transparent. Additionally or alternatively, this can mean that the transparency of the stiffening element is not perfect, e.g. less than 100%, or that the transparency is different in different parts of the stiffening element. This is an advantage in embodiments where the stiffening element otherwise would obstruct light incident on the solar cell(s). For example, the stiffening element can have a sheet shape, which can cover at least the solar cell(s), such as at least a portion of the solar cell region that comprises the solar cell(s).

[0122] In some embodiments, the stiffening element is non-transparent. In these embodiments, the stiffening element can be elongated and arranged beside or between solar cell(s) of the solar cell region. In this manner, the elongated, non-transparent stiffening element is arranged to obstruct only minor amounts of light incident on the solar cell despite being non-transparent. Substantially all light incident on the solar cell(s) can reach the solar cell(s), i.e. only light incident with a very large angle at the solar cell(s) will be obstructed by the stiffening element.

[0123] In some embodiments, the stiffening element is hollow. In this manner, a lightweight stiffening element is achieved.

[0124] In some embodiments, the stiffening element is homogeneous.

[0125] In some embodiments, the stiffening element is elongated. In this manner, the stiffening element can be arranged between or next to the solar cell (s) of the solar cell region. Thus, the stiffening element obstructs less light, or even no light, than if the stiffening element e.g. covers the solar cell(s) and is non-transparent. In these embodiments, the stiffening element can be arranged at the periphery of the solar cell region, i.e. not to obstruct unnecessarily much light incident on the solar cell(s). in some examples, the stiffening element can extend only over portions of the solar cell region that lacks said one or more solar cells.

[0126] In some embodiments, the stiffening element, preferably being transparent, is sheet-shaped, e.g. the stiffening element covers, such as is arranged to cover, at least a portion of the solar cell region. In this manner, the solar cell(s) of the solar cell region are protected from physical impact, e.g. due to hail, roaming animals, snow, grains, dust and the like.

[0127] The stiffening element can be made of lightweight tempered glass. Thus, reducing weight while at the same time being transparent and capable of providing protection from physical impact.

[0128] In some embodiments, the stiffening element only extends between said one or more solar cells. In this manner, the stiffening element can be made of a non-transparent material, while not obstructing a majority of the light incident on the solar cell(s) of the solar cell region.

[0129] In some embodiments, the stiffening element, preferably being transparent, covers at least the solar cell (s) of the solar cell region.

[0130] In some embodiments, the stiffening element is formed as a cover. The stiffening element and the solar cell region form a cavity filled with air to create an air cushion protecting said one or more solar cells in the solar cell region. The stiffening element can be fastened to the solar cell region at portions next to, or between, the solar cell(s) of the solar cell region. In this manner, the cover protects the solar cell(s) of the solar cell region from hail incident thereon. The cover and the solar cell region can form an air-filled space at least partially covering the solar cell region.

[0131] In some embodiments, the mounting edge is adapted to be received, e.g. in a form-fitted manner, by a solar cell rod for holding the solar cell assembly. In this manner, fastening of the solar cell assembly into e.g. a solar cell rod is facilitated.

[0132] The mounting edge can be a portion of the solar cell assembly, e.g. integrated with the flexible region.

[0133] In some embodiments, the mounting edge comprises a rod connector at a surface of the mounting edge. The electrical conductors connect to the rod connector. The rod connector is arranged to electrically connect to the solar cell rod when received by the solar cell rod. In this manner, it is enabled that electrical connection and mechanical fastening can be achieved in one simple operation, such only one operation, a single operation or the like.

[0134] In some embodiments, the mounting edge comprises a narrower portion and a wider portion located distally of the narrower portion, e.g. above it when the solar cell assembly is mounted. The wider portion is wider than the narrower portion along the third direction (Z). In this manner, the wider portion can prevent the solar cell assembly from escaping e.g. a groove, a grip, a holder or the like, of a solar cell holding part. In particular, the solar cell holding part can be the solar cell rod according to the embodiments herein. As a result, the mounting edge can be secured in the solar cell holding part.

[0135] In some embodiments, the mounting edge has an at least partially wedge-shaped cross-section that is adapted to be received and held by the solar cell holding part, such as the solar cell rod disclosed herein. The wedge-shape can embody the wider portion and the narrower portion mentioned above.

[0136] In some embodiments, the wedge-shaped cross-section tapers towards the flexible portion.

[0137] In some embodiments, the mounting edge comprises a protrusion extending in the third direction Z. As an example, the protrusion can be a nob, a spike, a button, a tooth, a heel or the like. If the rod connector is located at the protrusion, or indentation as the case may be, a cell sealing can encircle the protrusion, the indentation, the rod connector and / or the like.

[0138] In some embodiments, the solar cell assembly is biased towards a first state SI in which the flexible and solar cell regions extend in parallel with the main extension plane XY. The solar cell assembly is capable of entering a second state when flexed against its bias, in which second state the flexible region is flexed more than the solar cell region, thereby the flexible region contributes to that the solar cell assembly is capable of entering the second state S2. In these embodiments, the solar cell assembly, or at least parts of it, can be said to be elastically flexible. In this manner, it can be achieved that the solar cell region remains substantially flat when the solar cell assembly is flexed. Further, thanks to that the flexible region is more flexible than the solar cell region, the flexible region contributes, e.g. more than the solar cell region, to that the solar cell assembly is capable of entering the second state. Additionally, the flexible region is thus arranged to allow the solar cell(s) of the solar cell region to rotate, e.g. swing, about one or more rotation axes that are parallel with the first direction X. The flexing of the solar cell assembly can occur about a geometric axis that is parallel with the first direction X.

[0139] With some embodiments herein, the flexible region can be sheet-shaped and / or the solar cell region can be sheet-shaped.

[0140] In some embodiments, the solar cell assembly, or at least parts of it, such as the flexible region, can be plastically deformable.

[0141] In some embodiments, said one or more solar cells are crystalline solar cells, having a thickness of 90-

[0142] 350 pm, 120-300 pm, 160-240pm or the like. The thickness refers to the thickness of the silicon wafers forming the solar cells. The design of the solar cell assembly enables the solar cells to be thicker than in conventional flexible solar panels on the market today without breaking.

[0143] At least some embodiments of the solar cell assembly herein can thus lack or at least include less tempered glass and / or fiber glass, which normally is / are required for protection of the solar cell(s)

[0144] In some embodiments, the flexible region extends over about 1 / 8 of a length of the solar cell assembly along the second direction (Y) and / or the solar cell region extends over about 7 / 8 of said length.

[0145] In some embodiments, an area of the solar cell region(s) of the solar cell assembly is more than 5 square meters, 6 square meters, 7 square meters, 8 square meters, 9 square meters, 10 square meters, 15 square meters, or the like. Accordingly, electricity produced can be much more than for a conventional solar panel, e.g. for a resident roof installation.

[0146] In some embodiments, the solar cell assembly is substantially quadrangular, or quadrangular, such as substantially rectangular or rectangular, or the like. A width along the mounting edge of the solar cell assembly can be more than 1 meter, 2 meters, 3 meters, 4 meters, 5 meters, 8 meter, 10 meters, 15 meters, or the like. A height along a direction perpendicular to the mounting edge, e.g. the second direction, can be less than 50 cm, 45 cm, 40 cm or the like. In this manner, there are provided solar cell assemblies that are very short in one direction, e.g. the height, while still producing similar or more energy as conventional roof-top solar panel. At the same time, an advantage can be that, thanks to the relatively small height, the solar cell assembly will not move very much, if mounted, e.g. freely, to be responsive to wind.

[0147] In some embodiments, the solar cell assembly has a rectangular shape. One of the sides is 5, 10 or 15 times longer than the other side. Preferably, a length of the solar cell assembly in the first direction is 5, 10 or 15 times longer than a length of the solar cell assembly in the second direction.

[0183] DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0184] Throughout the present disclosure, the following terms and definition may be used.

[0185] As used herein, a solar cell, aka a photovoltaic cell, is capable of generating electricity when illuminated by light. Solar cells are commonly available on the market, such as crystalline solar cells, mono crystalline solar cells, poly crystalline solar cells, th in-film solar cells, or the like.

[0186] As used herein, the terms wire, rope, conducting or non-conducting line, string, band, belt may have been used interchangeably.

[0187] As used herein, the term "solar panel" refers to a panel comprising one or more photovoltaic cells, aka solar cells.

[0188] As used herein, the terms "first direction", "second direction" and "third direction" have been used to refer to an x-axis, e.g. width, a y-axis, e.g. height, and a z-axis, e.g. depth, of a first coordinate system aligned with the exemplifying solar panel suspension systems disclosed herein. Similarly, a first plane refers to the xy-plane XY of the first coordinate system, a second plane refers to the yz-plane YZ of the first coordinate system and a third plane refers to the xz-plane XZ of the first coordinate system. For simplicity, the same terms have been used when referring to directions and planes related to the exemplifying solar cell assemblies and the exemplifying solar cell rods disclosed herein. It shall, nevertheless, be understood that the solar cell assembly can be associated with a second coordinate system, that may or may not be aligned with, e.g. the same as, the first coordinate system. Furthermore, a third coordinate system can be associated with the solar cell rod. Similarly, the third coordinate system, that may or may not be aligned with, e.g. the same as, the first and / or second coordinate system. For ease of understanding, it is herein described as that the coordinate systems are aligned, but it is evident that when considering e.g. only the solar cell rod, the planes and directions of the solar cell rod are independent of the other coordinate systems, such as directions and planes of the first and / or second coordinate systems. Similarly, when considering the solar cell assembly alone, the planes and directions thereof are independent of the other coordinate systems, such as directions and planes of the first and / or third coordinate systems. In one simple example, this can mean that when considering the solar cell assembly alone, the first direction in relation thereto can be different from the first direction related to the solar panel suspension system. A few examples include, but are not limited to, that the first plane XY can be a main extension plane of the solar cell assembly, the first direction X can be a main elongation direction of the solar cell rod, the second direction Y can be a main elongation direction of a beam, e.g. a vertical beam, the third direction Z can be a main elongation direction of an elongated suspension structure, and the like.

[0189] The term "wind-responsive solar panel" refers to a solar panel that is capable of moving in response to wind, e.g. due to a particular design thereof or a particular mounting construction enabling movement in response to wind. The wind-responsive solar panel can be light-weight in order to allow wind to tilt, rotate, bend and / or flex the wind-responsive solar panel. This means that the wind- responsive solar panel can be flexible and / or bendable. However, in some examples it can be sufficient that the wind-response solar panel is rotatably mounted and / or mounted with hinges to allow the panel to move when subjected to wind, e.g. sufficiently strong winds. Hence, the wind- responsive solar panel can be arranged to be pivotably and / or rotatably connected, e.g. mechanically connected, to a mounting system, e.g. in a mounting edge of the wind-responsive solar panel. In some examples, the wind-responsive solar panel can comprise, e.g. be or be embodied by, the solar cell assembly according to the embodiments herein. In some examples, solar cells of said one or more respective wind-responsive solar panels can rotate and / or flex, in response to wind, e.g. about one or more rotation axes, which can extend along a main elongated direction X of the respective solar cell rod. The wind-responsive solar panel can be electrically connected, e.g. via the mounting edge or directly, to one or more further wind-responsive solar panels.

[0190] In any example herein, the wind-responsive solar panel can be realized by an example of the solar cell assembly disclosed herein.

[0191] The term "elongated arrangement", or "set of wind-responsive solar panels interconnected, e.g. mechanically and / or electrically, to form an elongated, flexible arrangement", refers to a set of wind- responsive solar panels that are arranged and aligned along a geometric axis, e.g. in the first direction X. The elongated arrangement can be realized according to known manners or it can be realized as described according to various embodiments herein. According to some examples of the elongated arrangement, wind-responsive solar panels are arranged to hang from a wire, or a bar, that extends along the entire length of the elongated arrangement. The bar can be realized by an example of the solar cell rod disclosed herein.

[0192] In some examples, the elongated arrangement comprises at least two solar cell rods according to embodiments herein. With these examples, one or more respective wind-responsive solar panels are mounted to a respective one of said at least two solar cell rods. Each one of said at least two solar cell rods is connected, e.g. mechanically connected, to at least one other solar cell rod using at least one respective interconnecting line. This means that each solar cell rod connects to its neighboring solar cell rod, which can be one neighbor or two neighbors. The elongated arrangement thus forms a chain-line structure of interconnected solar cell rods, where each solar cell rod hold at least one wind-responsive solar panel. The wind-responsive solar panel is described above.

[0193] The expression "extend between A and B" can, in some examples, can refer to that a features, such as a line, rod, or the like, extends all the way from A to B, B to A or the like.

[0194] According to at least some embodiments herein, the solar panel suspension system provides at least two suspension points, sometimes at least four suspension points. A pair of suspension points can be used to suspend e.g. the elongated arrangement that can be directly or indirectly mechanically connected between the pair of suspension points. Generally, one or more suspension point can be located a suspension structure, such as a distal end of a beam, a hoisting bar, or the like. Notably, two suspension points can be located at different locations on a horizonal bar. Accordingly, two suspension points need not necessarily belong to e.g. different beams, even though the suspension points can belong to different beams.

[0195] Figure 1 shows an example of a solar panel suspension system 100 according to at least some embodiments herein. The solar panel suspension system 100 comprises two vertically, e.g. substantially vertically, mounted beams 105. The solar panel suspension system 100 can accordingly mount, such as suspend, or the like, one or more wind-responsive solar panels 400 to allow light incident thereon to be converted to electricity.

[0196] Each beam 105 is connected, directly or indirectly, to ground. In this manner, said each beam 105 can be steadily secured in its position, e.g. in an upright position. This can man that a main extension direction of said each beam 105 is vertical, such as substantially vertical. Furthermore, said each beam 105 is arranged to provide a respective suspension point 110, e.g. at a distal end thereof. At least one elongated arrangement 600 can be suspended between two such respective suspension points 110, or suspension structures. The suspension structures can be part of the distal end of said each beam 105. The distal end can comprise a suspension point. In some examples, the elongated arrangement 600 can include one or more solar rod assemblies 200 that can be interconnected with each other by means of interconnecting lines 120. Each solar rod assembly 200 can include a solar cell assembly 400 and a solar cell rod 500 for holding one or more solar cell assemblies 400 according to various examples thereof as described herein.

[0197] One end of the elongated arrangement 600 can be suspended by means of a suspension line 115. In some examples, both ends of the elongated arrangement 600 is suspended by means of a respective suspension line 115, 116. When the elongated arrangement 600 is hoistable, the suspension lines 115, 116 can be referred to as hoisting lines. The aspect of hoisting is described in more detail with reference to Figure 21 and Figure 22.

[0198] In some examples, Figure 1 shows an exemplifying solar panel suspension system 100 for suspending wind-responsive solar panels 400 above ground, thereby making the ground available. The ground can be made available for example by that the wind-responsive solar panels are suspended at least 2 m, 3 m, 4 m, 5 m, 10 m, 20 m, 30 m, or the like, above the ground and / or by that a lowest part of the wind-responsive solar panels is at least at least 2 m, 3 m, 4 m, 5 m, 10 m, 20 m, 30 m, or the like, above the ground.

[0199] The solar panel system 100 comprises two suspension structures 130 indirectly connected to the ground and located at a distance from the ground, and an elongated arrangement 600 for mounting of the wind-responsive solar panels 400. The elongated arrangement 600 is suspended and extends between the two suspension structures 130.

[0200] Furthermore, the elongated arrangement 600 can comprise a set of interconnectable solar rod assemblies 200 according to some examples herein.

[0201] Each solar rod assembly 200 comprises a respective solar cell rod 500 having a respective line holding portion 520 at each end thereof. The respective solar cell rod 500 is provided with a respective set of the wind-responsive solar panels 400. The respective set of wind-responsive solar panels 400 extend, towards the ground, from a respective bottom surface 531 of the respective solar cell rod 500.

[0202] In particular, the elongated arrangement 600 comprises at least two suspension lines 115, 116 arranged to suspend the set of interconnectable solar rod assemblies 200 between the two suspension structures 130 by being connected to the respective line holding portion 520 at each end of the respective rod 500.

[0203] In some examples, the respective solar cell rod 500 of at least one of the solar rod assemblies 200 of the set of solar rod assemblies 200 is realized according to some examples of the solar cell rod disclosed herein. In some examples, at least one wind-responsive solar panel of the respective set of the wind- responsive solar panels 400 of at least one of the solar rod assemblies 200 of the set of solar rod assemblies 200 is realized according to some examples of the solar cell assembly disclosed herein.

[0204] Figure 2 shows an example of the solar panel suspension system 100 according to at least some embodiments herein. The solar panel suspension system 100 comprises a hoisting bar 130, having a first end 131 and a second end 132. Here, two solar rod assemblies 200 are indirectly connected to the hoisting line 115 via the hoisting bar 130. This means that the first end 131 is connected to a first hoisting line 115 at one of the two beams 105. Similarly, the second end 132 is connected to a second hoisting line 116 at the other one of the two beams 105.

[0205] Figure 3 shows an example in which the solar panel suspension system 100 includes a number of elongated arrangements 600 that are arranged vertically above each other. In this manner, each elongated arrangement 600 is held at its respective height over ground. In some examples, when the elongated arrangements 600 are hoistable, it can be that each elongated arrangement is individually hoistable independently of the other elongated arrangements 600 or it can be that all or some elongated arrangements are hoistable together as a group. As used herein, the term "hoistable" refers to that a beam, a bar, a solar panel or the like is capable of being hoisted.

[0206] Figure 4 shows a further example, illustrating that the two beams 105 can be connected to each other and then a further beam 103 connects the two beams 105 to ground. This is an example of that the two beams 105 are indirectly connected to the ground.

[0207] Figure 5 is a variation of the embodiment according to Figure 4 and / or Figure 6 below.

[0208] Figure 6 is another example of a solar panel suspension system 100. The solar panel suspension system 100 comprises four beams 105. Each beam 105 of the four beams 105 is located at a respective corner of a rectangle. The four beams 105 can describe a 10 by 20 meters rectangle or the like. In as seen in this Figure, the hoisting bar 130 can also, e.g. in addition to that it provides for the possibility to hoist the elongated arrangements 600 up and / or down, ensure that elongated arrangements 600 are mounted in parallel and maintains a consistent distance between each other, e.g. even during windy weather conditions.

[0209] In some examples, the solar panel suspension system 100 can be provided with a spacing bar 135, that can be arranged perpendicularly to multiple elongated arrangements 600 mounted in parallel. Each elongated arrangement 600 can thus be connected to, such as attached, fixed, or the like, the spacing bar 135. As a result, the spacing bar 135 ensures that the distance between the elongated arrangements 600 remain constant, or almost constant. This can mean that the distance between two elongated arrangements 600 is constant, e.g. along a main extension direction of the two elongated arrangements 600.

[0210] Generally, the hosting bar 130 and the spacing bar 135 can be provided with holes, such as through- bores, inserts, holding units or the like, for fastening of various details herein. The various details herein can refer to one or more of hoisting line(s), interconnecting line(s), solar cell rod(s), support wire(s) or the like.

[0211] The hoisting bar 130 and / or the spacing bar 135 can be made of plastic, or other suitable material for providing rigidness and / or stiffness to the bar(s).

[0212] In embodiments with para llelly mounted elongated arrangements 600, e.g. vertically or horizontally, the wind-responsive solar panels 400 can be interconnected using de cables that run along the third direction Z.

[0213] Generally, a beam length of the beams 105 can be between 2 to 10 meters, 4 to 6 meters, or the like. The beam length is dependent on how high above ground some lowest part of the wind-responsive solar panel 400 is allowed to be. Other beam lengths than those mentioned above can therefore also be applicable in some examples. A distance between two beams 105 can be 10 to 50 meters, 20 to 40 meters, or about 30 meters.

[0214] In general, the beams 105 can be made of wood, metal, plastic or other common materials used for building beams. The beams can be built using truss, frameworks, cylinders or the like. The beams 105 can be stiff and / or rigid, thereby avoiding, or reducing, flexing thereof.

[0215] Moreover, the beams can include various holding structures for cables that can conduct electricity to / from the wind-responsive solar panels 400. In some examples, the cables are feed inside the beams, e.g. when the beams are hollow.

[0216] Generally, the solar panel suspension systems herein can be built, e.g. using solar cell rods and interconnecting lines, in such a way that the wind-responsive solar panels do not resist and overcome impact from wind and hail, but rather moves, e.g. freely, with the wind or when hit by hail. In this manner, a destructive impact originating from wind and / or hail on the wind-responsive solar panels is reduced. Furthermore, the wind-responsive solar panels reduce the risk of being hit by hail thanks to that they move and align with the direction of the wind. Since hail is expected to move in that same direction, the wind-responsive solar panels are less likely of being hit.

[0217] Furthermore, with the solar panel suspension systems 100 herein, the panels are typically suspended high enough, see example above, not to be impacted by roaming animals, people, growing vegetation etc. with an added benefit that the ground under the wind-responsive solar panels 400 is made available for use, such as agricultural use, use for motorways, and / or the like.

[0218] At least some examples of the solar panel suspension system 100 described herein can be electrically connected to a load (not shown), such as an energy storage system, a battery system, a battery, a motor, an engine, a machine, an electrical grid or the like. The motor etc. can be used for any suitable purpose, such as air conditioning, ventilation, manufacturing, or more.

[0219] It shall here be noted that Figure 6 illustrates an example where different aspects of the systems have been combined, while each aspect can also be applied separately to this or other examples herein. Accordingly, the system 100 of Figure 6 can also be realized while applying only one of the aspects, or any number of the aspects.

[0220] In some examples, Figure 6 shows an example of a solar panel suspension system 100 for suspending wind-responsive solar panels 400 above ground, thereby making the ground available.

[0221] The solar panel suspension system 100 comprises two elongated suspension structures 130 directly or indirectly connected to the ground and located at a distance from the ground. Moreover, the solar panel suspension system 100 comprises a first elongated arrangement 600 and a second elongated arrangement 600. The first elongated arrangement 600 comprises a first set of the wind-responsive solar panels 400, that can represent a first row of wind-responsive solar panels. The second elongated arrangement 600 comprises a second set of the wind-responsive solar panels 400, that can represent a second row. The first and second sets of wind-responsive solar panels 400 do not include the same wind-responsive solar panels, i.e. any wind-responsive solar panel 400 cannot be included in both the first and second sets of wind-responsive solar panels. This means for example the first and second sets are different, non-overlapping, etc. Consequently, both the first and the second sets of wind-responsive solar panels 400 are so called proper subsets of the wind-responsive solar panels 400 included in, such as mounted by, held by or the like, the system 100.

[0222] The aspect of arranging the wind-responsive solar panels 400 in rows can be combined with any one or more of the examples herein.

[0223] The first and second elongated arrangements 600 run transversally to the two elongated suspension structures 130, wherein each one of the first and second elongated arrangements 600 is suspended and extends between the two elongated suspension structures 130, wherein the first and second elongated arrangements 600 run alongside each other e.g. without crossing each other.

[0224] Moreover, the solar panel suspension system 100 further comprises a cable 190 arranged to electrically connect, e.g. in addition to mechanically connect, the first set of wind-responsive solar panels 400 to the second set of wind-responsive solar panels 400. In particular, at least a portion 195 of the cable 190 is freely suspended and the portion 195 of the cable 190 extends between and runs across the first and second elongated arrangements 600, e.g. perpendicularly to the main extension directions of the first and second elongated arrangements 600.

[0225] This means that the cable provides a transversal wiring with respect to the rows of hanging wind- responsive solar panels mounted in the solar panel suspension system 100. In this manner, cable length required for interconnection is reduced, which is particularly useful in a so called solar park, a large-scale solar cell installation facility or the like.

[0226] In some examples, the first and second rows are parallel with each other. In some examples, the first and second rows are horizontal. In some examples, the first and second rows are perpendicular to the two elongated, suspension structures 130. In some embodiments, the first and second rows and the two elongated, suspension structures 130 span a geometric plane XZ or slightly bent surface. The plane or surface can be horizontal or tilted. The geometric plane XZ can be the third plane XZ.

[0227] In some examples, the cable 190 can be comprised in a set of cables 190 for electrically interconnecting the wind-responsive solar panels 400. There can thus be multiple cables 190, but for simplicity it is herein referred to as "the cable 190" in singular. The cable is electrically conducting.

[0228] In some examples, the first and second elongated arrangements 600 comprises a respective rod 500 that is provided with the first or second set of wind-responsive solar panels 400, respectively. The first and second set of wind-responsive solar panels 400 extend, towards the ground, from a respective bottom surface 531 of the respective rod 500. Each end 191, 192 of the cable 190 is connected, directly or indirectly, to the respective rod 500 as shown in Figure 7 and Figure 8.

[0229] In some examples, said each end 191, 192 of the cable 190 is indirectly connected to the respective solar cell rod 500 via a respective junction device 530. Again, this is shown in Figure 7 and Figure 8. The junction device 530 can manage said one or more respective wind-responsive solar panels 400. The junction device 530 can be at least partially panel-shaped. In this manner, the junction device 530 can be inserted into the solar cell rod 500 and connected thereto similarly to how the wind responsive solar panels 400, such as the solar cell assemblies 400 herein, are held and connected to the solar cell rod 500.

[0230] As already understood, the solar panel suspension system 100 does not necessarily include the solar cell rod disclosed herein. Therefore, in some examples, each end 191, 192 of the cable 190 is connected, directly or indirectly, to respective wind-responsive solar panels 400 of the first and second sets of wind-responsive solar panels 400, respectively, i.e. without being connected via the solar cell rod 500. Each wind-responsive solar panel 400 can include a cable connector 210. That is, an electrical connection between the first and second sets of wind-responsive solar panels 400 does not necessarily pass through the solar cell rod 500.

[0231] In some examples, the portion 195 of the cable 190 runs along the two elongated suspension structures 130 at a distance from them, or further away than the distance. The distance can be 1 m, 2 m, 3 m, 5 m or the like. In these examples, the required cable length will be reduced as compared to having cables running along the direction of the elongated arrangement to the elongated suspension structure and then back to a neighboring elongated arrangement of another row.

[0232] In some examples, the first row is formed by at least a further first set of wind-responsive solar panels 400 and the second row is formed by at least a further second set of wind-responsive solar panels 400. The cable 190 is comprised in the set of cables 190 and a first cable 190 and a second cable 190 runs across the first and second rows. In particular, the first cable electrically connects the first set of wind-responsive solar panels with the further first set of wind-responsive solar panels and the second cable electrically connects the second set of wind-responsive solar panels with the further second set of wind-responsive solar panels.

[0233] In some examples, the portion 195 of the cable 190 at least partially, preferably mostly, runs at the same or lower level relatively the ground as solar cells of the first and second sets of wind-responsive solar panels 400, e.g. a lowest solar cell of the first and second sets of wind-responsive solar panels 400. In this manner, shadows, on the solar cells, caused by the cable 190 are reduced.

[0234] In some examples, said each end 191, 192 of the cable 190 is directly or indirectly connected to the first and second sets of wind-responsive solar panels 400, respectively. This means for example that the ends of the cable 190 can be indirectly connected to the first and second sets of wind-responsive solar panels 400, respectively, via a respective junction device 530, e.g. one junction device 530 for each set.

[0235] In some examples, the portion 195 of the cable 190 runs, e.g. extends, between respective distal parts of the first and second rows, wherein the respective distal parts are located transversally a direction of the first and second rows and distally. In this manner, it can be achieved that the ends 191, 192 of the cable 190 is directly connected between the respective distal parts of the respective elongated arrangements, such as the distal part of the respective wind-responsive solar panel 400.

[0236] At least a portion 195 of the cable 190 is suspended and extends between a first row and a second row to connect a first set of wind-responsive solar panels 400 in the first row to a second set of wind- responsive solar panels 400 in the second row or e.g. of another row. In some examples, the first and second sets of wind-responsive solar panels 400 can correspond to each other, e.g. in terms of position of their respective row connectors e.g. same relative position, e.g. same ordinal count in row, e.g. position as in distance from beginning / end of row or the like.

[0237] In general, said each end 191, 192 of the cable 190 is connected to the first and second sets of wind- responsive solar panels 400, respectively, either directly or via one or more of the solar cell rod, the junction device and / or the like as applicable.

[0238] With reference to Figure 9 through Figure 17, there is shown various examples of the solar panel suspension system 100 in which the angle aspect is applied. These examples can be combined with any one or more of the exemplifying solar panel suspension systems 100 and / or examples of the solar cell rod and / or examples of the solar cell assembly disclosed herein.

[0239] Figure 9 shows a detailed view of a wind-responsive solar panel 400 mountable in any example or embodiment of the solar panel suspension system 100 herein. In the examples of Figure 9 to Figure 17, the wind-responsive solar panel 400 is held at an angle, e.g. defined in a plane perpendicular to the first direction X. Thanks to the angle, more of the light incident on a surface of the wind- responsive solar panel can be converted into electricity, e.g. due to that a smaller portion of the light will be reflected at the surface of the wind-responsive solar panel 400. This means that a greater portion of the light will eventually reach a photovoltaic cell of the wind-responsive solar panel 400. As a result, efficiency of the solar panel suspension system 100 is increased.

[0240] Even when the wind-responsive solar panel(s) are held at the angle, wind can cause the wind- responsive solar panel to move, yet somewhat stronger wind may be required as compared to when the wind-responsive solar panel hangs completely free. In this regard, it deserves to be noted that the wind-responsive solar panel also when held at the angle is movable due to wind. Further, when held at the angle the wind-responsive solar panel still extends towards the ground, yet its main direction plane being at the angle with respect to a vertical plane.

[0241] According to various examples herein, the solar panel suspension system 100 can thus allow the angle of the wind-responsive solar panel, such as the solar cell assembly according to embodiments herein, to be adjusted. This can be achieved by providing the solar panel suspension system 100 with an elongated support 140, which can be parallel with, or substantially parallel with, the main extension direction X of the elongated arrangement 600, such as the solar cell rod(s) 500, or the like. Generally, the elongated support 140 can be realized as a support wire, a support beam, a support bar or the like. In these examples, the elongated support 140, such as a support line, a support bar or the like, can be suspended along the first direction X, e.g. along the solar panel's 200 main extension direction. This means that the solar panel suspension system 100 can include the elongated support 140. The elongated support 140 has two ends, which can be provided, e.g. fastened in or the like, at a respective beam 105, a respective hoisting bar 130, or the like. As an example, albeit not shown, it can be that the suspension structure is arranged to hold, such as fasten, or the like, the suspension line at a first point on the suspension structure. Further, the suspension structure can be arranged to hold, such as fasten or the like, the elongated support at a second point on the suspension structure. The first point can be located further away from the ground than the second point. A distance between the first and second points can correspond to a length of the wind-responsive solar panel, e.g. along the second direction Y. Accordingly, the distance can be the same as the distance, slightly more or slightly less than the distance depending on implementation. The distance can be less than 1.5 times said length of the wind-responsive solar panel 400.

[0242] In Figure 9 and Figure 10, the solar panel suspension system 100 is arranged to provide the elongated support 140 within reach of the wind-responsive solar panel 400, e.g. when the wind-responsive solar panel 400 swings due to wind or otherwise. Thereby, the wind-responsive solar panel 400 can be prevented from assuming its natural, vertical position at rest. This means for example that the elongated support 140 prevents the wind-responsive solar panel 400 to hang vertically due to its gravity, e.g. as long as a distal portion of the wind-responsive solar panel 400 rests on the elongated support 140, e.g. lays on top of the elongated support 140.

[0243] Depending on the direction of the wind, e.g. from left to right in Figure 10, the wind can cause the wind-responsive solar panel 400 to rise its distal portion 460 above the elongated support 140. When the wind diminishes, or ceases, the wind-responsive solar panel 400 will then return to its position where the distal portion 460 rests on the elongated support 140.

[0244] In an opposite case, e.g. when the wind blows from right to left in Figure 10, the wind-responsive solar panel 400 can be forced to pass the elongated support 140. Thanks to the flexible region 410 of the solar cell assembly 400, a sufficiently strong wind can cause the wind-responsive solar panel 400, in particular the solar cell assembly 400 thereof, to flex. The wind-responsive solar panel 400 is then allowed to pass the elongated support 140. When the wind diminishes, or ceases, it may then be desired to manually, e.g. by pushing or the like, force the wind-responsive solar panel 400 to return to its position where the distal portion 460 rests on the elongated support 140. Attention must be paid not to harm the solar cells of the wind-responsive solar panel 400. In these manners, the wind-responsive solar panel 400 moves due to the wind rather than resists the wind. As a result, the solar cells are not exposed to harmful forces which could cause malfunction, or failure, in the wind-responsive solar panel 400.

[0245] Given that the solar panel suspension system 100 is arranged to allow the wind-responsive solar panels 400, e.g. belonging to the solar rod assembly 200, the elongated arrangement 600 or the like, to swing about a rotation axis R, that runs in parallel with the first direction X, a first distance between the rotation axis R and the elongated support 140 can be less than a second distance between the rotation axis R and the distal portion 460 of the solar cell assembly 400.

[0246] In some examples, shown in Figure 11 and Figure 12, the first distance can instead be greater than the second distance. The solar panel suspension system 100 can include an elongated, flexible member 160, whose one end connects to, such as is fastened at, extracted from, by being a portion of a flexible layer of the solar cell assembly or the like, the distal portion 460 of the solar cell assembly 400 and whose other end connects to, such as is fastened to, or the like, a counterweight 170. Any suitable object can act as a counterweight, such as a sphere, a ball, an object, a unit, a bar, a pole, or the like. The weight of the counterweight 170 can be adapted such that the wind-responsive solar panel 400 assumes a desired angle at rest and during little, or no, wind. Figure 10 shows further examples, in which the elongated, flexible member 160 is a portion of a flexible layer of the solar cell assembly 400, such as a plastic layer, or the like. As shown in Figure 10, the elongated, flexible member 160 bends or flexes when the solar cell assembly 400, e.g. the distal portion 460 thereof, rests on the elongated support 140.

[0247] In the following, the elongated, flexible member 160 is referred to as "string", while it is understood that the elongated, flexible member 160 can be realized in many different ways, such as by a belt, a rope, a line, a chain, a wire, an elongated portion of a layer of the solar cell assembly, an extraction from the solar cell assembly, or the like.

[0248] According to some embodiments that take advantage of the counterweight 170, the counterweight 170 can be elongated, e.g. in a shape of a rod, a stick, a bar or the like. These embodiments are shown in Figure 13 to Figure 17. Hence, in some examples, the string is wound, e.g. wrapped or the like, around the elongated counterweight 170, e.g. one, two or more laps. The elongated counterweight 170 can be arranged, such as located, positioned, or the like, to have a horizontal, or almost horizontal, main elongation direction, e.g. along the first axis X, e.g. in the third plane XZ. As in other examples with the counterweight 170, the string 160 can be attached to the counterweight at its one end, and at its other end the string 160 can be attached to the distal portion of the solar cell assembly 400. In some examples, as in Figure 13, the elongated, flexible member 160, e.g. an end thereof, is attached to the elongated support 170. Figure 14 illustrates a view along the first direction and Figure 15 shows a view along the third direction.

[0249] An advantage with the examples of Figure 13 to Figure 16 can be that the elongated, flexible member 160 occupies a shorter length, e.g. in the second direction, e.g. as compared to for example the example of Figure 11 and Figure 12.

[0250] Thanks to the counterweight 170 and the elongated support 140, according to some embodiments herein, it can be achieved that the wind-responsive solar panel 400 assumes the angle at rest, e.g. by that the counterweight barely overcomes gravitational forces otherwise would cause the wind- responsive solar panel 400 to hang vertically. In order to allow only a small amount of wind to swing the wind-responsive solar panel 400, the counterweight 170, i.e. the weight thereof, can be matched to those gravitational forces. Should it be desired that a stronger wind should be required to swing the wind-responsive solar panel 400, the weight of the counterweight is matched to those gravitational forces as well as a force originating from the stronger wind. This can be realized thanks to the string 160 and the counterweight 170 according to some embodiments herein. Generally, the string 160 is attached to at least one of the wind-responsive solar panel 400 and counterweight 170. For example, the string's 160 attachment to said at least one of the wind-responsive solar panel 400 and counterweight 170 can be a fixed attachment, e.g. the same location on the string 160 is attached at all times, or it can be a sliding attachment, e.g. different locations on the string 160 is in contact with said at least one of the wind-responsive solar panel 400 and counterweight 170 at different times. Furthermore, in the context of the solar panel suspension system 100 in use, the string 160 runs, at least once, over the elongated support 140 or through a through-hole (not shown) in in the elongated support 140.

[0251] Figure 16 thus shows that the string 160, according to the embodiments in which the string 160 is wrapped around the elongated counterweight 170, can be attached to the elongated support 140 and the distal portion 460 of the wind-responsive solar panel 400, e.g. the respective ends of the string 160. Figure 16 also shows that, in some examples, both ends of the string 160 can be attached to the distal portion 460, or the distal portion 610 of the elongated arrangement 600.

[0252] Figure 17 thus shows that the string 160, according to the embodiments in which the string 160 is provided with the counterweight 170, e.g. a ball or the like as explained above, can be attached to the elongated support 140 and the distal portion 460 of the wind-responsive solar panel 400, e.g. the respective ends of the string 160. The counterweight 170 can have a through-hole in which the string 160 runs. For adjustment of the angle of the wind-responsive solar panel 400, the counterweight 170 can be detachably attached to a location along the string 160. Figure 17 also shows that, in some examples, both ends of the string 160 can be attached to the distal portion 460. Then, the counterweight 170 can be fixed at one location along the string 160.

[0253] In the examples with the string, it shall be understood that the string, rather than being attached to the solar cell assembly, can be formed by a portion of the solar cell assembly, such as from a layer of plastic material that can build up the solar cell assembly. Thus, the elongated, flexible member is attached by being integrated with the solar cell assembly.

[0254] Figure 18 shows an example of a solar panel suspension system 100, which is rotatable.

[0255] In general, an example of the solar panel suspension system 100, which is rotatable, can be described as follows. A solar panel suspension system 100 for suspending wind-responsive solar panels 400 above ground, thereby making the ground available, is provided.

[0256] The solar panel suspension system 100 comprises two suspension structures 130 indirectly connected to the ground and located at a distance from the ground, and an elongated arrangement 600 comprising the wind-responsive solar panels 400, wherein the elongated arrangement 600 is suspended and extends between the two suspension structures 130.

[0257] In particular, the solar panel suspension system 100 comprises a rotatable, circular structure 700 arranged to rotate the solar panel suspension system 100 in a geometric plane of the ground, wherein the two suspension structures 130 are connected to the ground via the rotatable, circular structure 700.

[0258] In some examples, the solar panel suspension system 100 comprises two beams 105 mounted on the rotatable, circular structure 700, wherein the two beams 105 are arranged to hold the two suspension structures 130 at the distance from the ground.

[0259] In some examples, the solar panel suspension system 100 comprises a motor 720 arranged, e.g. by means of a control unit 710, to rotate the rotatable, circular structure. In this manner, the wind- responsive solar panels can be directed towards the sun according to conventional sun tracking procedures. The control unit 710 may be configured with control logics for operating the motor 720.

[0260] Thanks to that the beams are connected to the circular, rotatable cover 701, it is achieved that, firstly, all wind-responsive solar panels are rotated at the same time, and secondly, the rotation of the wind- responsive solar panels can be driven by, and for example controlled by, a single motor. Thanks to the low weight of the system the power consumption of the motor will be relatively low. Further, power requirements on the motor can be low. Yet further, low energy consumption implies that the system is environmentally friendly.

[0261] Figure 19 shows a few examples of how each beam 105 can be indirectly connected to the ground via the rotatable, circular structure 700.

[0262] A circular, rotatable cover 701 rests on a circular, non-rotatable rail 702. In order to reduce friction, bearings (not shown), or the like, can be provided between the circular, rotatable cover 701 and the circular, non-rotatable rail 702.

[0263] A cross-section of the cover 701 and / or the rail 702 can be at least partially circular, triangular, rectangular or the like.

[0264] Thanks to the cover 701 at least partially encloses the rail 702, it can be avoided that dirt, such as soil, gravel, or the like, enters in between the surfaces of the cover and the rail that move relatively each other. Dirt or the like would disadvantageously increase friction between the surfaces of the cover and the rail. In turn, increased friction can cause increased wear and tear. Hence, durability is improved, and energy required for rotation is maintained.

[0265] Figure 20a shows an example of the solar panel suspension system 100, in which the interconnection aspect is illustrated, again.

[0266] From Figure 20a, it can be seen that each solar rod assembly 200 can include one or more respective solar cell assemblies 400 and a respective solar cell rod 500 for each one of said one or more respective solar cell assemblies 400. As explained above, an exemplifying elongated arrangement 600 can include a number of solar rod assemblies 200 that are interconnected with each other using interconnection lines 120, whereby rows of wind-responsive solar panels 400 are formed.

[0267] Further, Figure 20a illustrates that a suspension structure can be a distal end 109 of a beam 105 or a hoisting or suspension bar 130 (extending into the plane of the paper).

[0268] According to further examples, e.g. as shown in Figure 20b, there is provided a solar panel suspension system for suspending wind-responsive solar panels above ground, thereby making the ground available. The solar panel suspension system 100 comprises four beams 105 that are spaced away from each other. Each beam 105 has a non-zero vertical directional component, each beam 105 is connected, e.g. directly or indirectly, to the ground, and each beam 105 has a respective distal end 109. The solar panel suspension system 100 further comprises two parallel, horizontal elongated support structures 130, preferably wires 130. An advantage with wires can be that wires can be longer than when a beam of the same weight as the wire is used, while still providing the strength necessary to support the solar panels in the solar panel suspension system.

[0269] Each elongated support structure 130 extends between a respective pair of distal ends 109 of a respective pair of beams 105 of the four beams 105 and each elongated support structure 130 is connected, directly or indirectly, to the respective pair of distal ends 109.

[0270] Moreover, the solar panel suspension system 100 comprises a first elongated arrangement 600 that is provided with a first set of the wind-responsive solar panels 400, which extend towards the ground, and a second elongated arrangement 600 that is provided with a second set of the wind-responsive solar panels 400, which extend towards the ground. The first and second sets of the wind-responsive solar panels 400 are non-overlapping with each other. The first and second elongated arrangements 600 run transversally to the two elongated suspension structures 130. Each one of the first and second elongated arrangements 600 is suspended and extends between the two elongated suspension structures 130. The first and second elongated arrangements 600 run alongside each other.

[0271] An advantage can hence be that a very large area above the ground can be used for suspension of solar panels, while at the same time few and / or slender beams take up valuable space at the ground level. Additionally, the solar panel suspension system may be sufficiently steady and / or rigid to withstand rough weather conditions, such as rain, wind, at least to a certain extent, hail and the like.

[0272] In more detail, each end of the horizontal elongated support structure can be connected to a respective one of the respective pair of distal ends 109.

[0273] Furthermore, the two parallel, horizontal elongated support structures 130 and the first and second elongated arrangements 600 can span a surface that is at least partly horizontal, substantially horizontal, or the like. The surface can be a plane. When the two parallel, horizontal elongated support structures 130 comprises, such as are, are embodied as, or the like, two wires 130, each of said two wires 130 can describe a parabolic graph due to being suspended, an almost straight line or the like. This can be advantageous because a wire can be hung in a parabolic way between two supporting structures, where the distance between the two supporting structures is very long while still being able to support the weight of the wire as well as the weight of the other parts of the solar panel suspension system, such as the wind-responsive solar panels, the rods etc.

[0274] In some embodiments, each one of the two parallel, horizontal elongated support structures 130 comprises a respective wire 130. In some embodiments, each one of the two parallel, horizontal elongated support structures 130 is at least 25 meters, at least 35 meters, or at least 50 meters.

[0275] In some embodiments, the first and second set of wind-responsive solar panels 400 extend towards the ground from a respective bottom surface 531 of the first and second elongated arrangements 600, respectively.

[0276] In some embodiments, each elongated support structure 130 is suspended between the respective pair of distal ends 109, e.g. by means of a respective suspension line 115, 116 at each distal end 109.

[0277] In some embodiments, each one of the first and second elongated arrangements 600 comprises a respective rod 500 that extends between and connects to, directly or indirectly, said at least two elongated support structures 130. The respective rod 500 is provided with the first or second set of wind-responsive solar panels 400, respectively. Each wind-responsive solar panel 400 of the first and second sets of wind-responsive solar panels 400 extends, towards the ground, from a respective bottom surface 531 of the respective rod 500. The respective bottom surface 531 faces the ground.

[0278] In some embodiments, each one of the first and second elongated arrangements 600 comprises a respective set of interconnectable solar rod assemblies 200. Each solar rod assembly 200 comprises a respective rod 500 having a respective line holding portion 520 at each end thereof. The respective rod 500 is provided with a respective set of the wind-responsive solar panels 400. The respective set of wind-responsive solar panels 400 extend, towards the ground, from the respective bottom surface 531 at the respective rod 500. Each one of the first and second elongated arrangements 600 comprises at least two respective suspension lines 115, 116 arranged to suspend the set of interconnectable solar rod assemblies 200 between the two suspension structures 130 by being connected to the respective line holding portion 520 at each end of the respective rod 500. In these embodiments, said each elongated support structure 130 can be realized by an aforementioned suspension bar.

[0279] In some embodiments, referring to Figure 20c, the two parallel, horizontal elongated support structures 130 and the first and second elongated arrangements 600 form a rigid quadrangular frame 119. Each corner 121 of the rigid quadrangular frame 119 is suspended in a respective distal end 109 by means of a respective suspension line 115, 116.

[0280] In some embodiments, the respective suspension line 115, 116 comprises, such as is realized as, or the like, a respective hoisting line 115, 116 that is conveyed to a motor 150 or to an attachment point accessible for manual hoisting of the rigid quadrangular frame 119. In some embodiments, the solar panel suspension system 100 comprises a third elongated arrangement 600 that is provided with a third set of the wind-responsive solar panels 400, which extend towards the ground. Each one of the first, second and third elongated arrangements 600 comprises three respective solar cell rods 500. Each one of the three solar cell rods 500 is provided with the first, second and third set of the wind-responsive solar panels 400, respectively. The third elongated arrangement 600 can have the same, similar, or corresponding features as the first and / or second elongated arrangement 600.

[0281] In some embodiments, the respective rod 500 of at least one of the solar rod assemblies 200 of the set of solar rod assemblies 200 is defined by any one of the examples thereof.

[0282] In some embodiments, at least one wind-responsive solar panel of the respective set of the wind- responsive solar panels 400 of at least one of the solar rod assemblies 200 of the set of solar rod assemblies 200 is defined by any one of the examples thereof.

[0283] According to examples of the solar panel suspension system 100, it is possible to hoist the elongated arrangement from the ground up to a position in which the ground is available for use, and back again if desired, e.g. for purposes of maintenance, repair or the like.

[0284] Thus, in some examples, there is provided examples of a solar panel suspension system 100 for suspension at least one wind-responsive solar panel 400 above ground, thereby making the ground available. The solar panel suspension system 100 comprises at least two beams 105 that are spaced away from each other. Each beam 105 has a non-zero vertical directional component.

[0285] Furthermore, the solar panel suspension system 100 comprises an elongated arrangement 600 that is provided with said at least one wind-responsive solar panel 400, which extends towards the ground, e.g. from the groove 510 of the solar cell rod 500. The elongated arrangement 600 extends between said at least two beams 105 by being connected, directly or indirectly, at a respective distal end 109 of each beam 105 of said at least two beams 105. The elongated arrangement 600 can be said to be suspended between the respective distal ends 109 of said at least two beams 105. Each distal end 109 can comprise a respective suspension point or, expressed differently the respective suspension point can be located at, or on, the respective distal end 109.

[0286] The elongated arrangement 600 is vertically hoistable, e.g. to adjust its height above the ground.

[0287] In some examples, the elongated arrangement 600 comprises a set of interconnectable solar rod assemblies 200. Each solar rod assembly 200 comprises a respective solar cell rod 500 that is provided with a respective set of said at least one wind-responsive solar panel 400. The respective set of wind-responsive solar panels 400 extend towards the ground from a respective bottom surface 531 of the respective solar cell rod 500. The groove 510 can emerge at the bottom surface 531.

[0288] Figure 21 shows an enlarged, schematic view of an example of how each beam 105 may be provided with a hoisting line 115, e.g. a respective hoisting line for each beam 105. This can mean that the elongated arrangement 600, e.g. including the set of solar rod assemblies 200, is suspended between said at least two beams 105, e.g. at the distal ends 109 thereof, by means of a respective hoisting line 115 provided at said each beam 105. The respective hoisting line 115 runs at a respective distal end 109 of said each beam 105 towards and connects, directly or indirectly, to the elongated arrangement 600 that is vertically hoistable by means of the respective hoisting line 115. The beam 105 can be provided with the hoisting line 115 in that a guiding arm 107 holds a guide 110. The guide 110 can be a conveyor, a wheel, a holding socket adapted to receive the hoisting line 115. A first end 117 of the hoisting line 115 is connected, e.g. directly or indirectly, to the elongated arrangement 600. A second end 118 of the hoisting line 115 can be connected to a motor 150 arranged to wind up or unwind the hoisting line 115.

[0289] In some examples, the second end 118 of the hoisting line 115 can be releasably fastened at a base of the beam 105. In some examples, a user (not shown) may manually hoist the elongated arrangement 600 up and / or down. The hoisting may for example be done similarly to how a flag is raised on a flagpole, or sails on a boat. In various examples, the hoisting line 115 can be un-winded from and winded up on a drum, e.g. using the motor, manually by the user, or the like.

[0290] The elongated arrangement 600 can have two line holding portions 520 at a respective end of the elongated arrangement 600. In more detail, each one of the two line holding portions 520 can be part of one or more solar cell rods 500 included in the elongated arrangement 600. Each line holding portion 520 of the two line holding portions 520 is adapted to receive and connect to a respective end 117, 118 of the respective hoisting line 115, or the respective suspension line 115.

[0291] In some examples, the solar panel suspension system 100 comprises a hoisting bar 130, at which the respective hoisting line 115 is connected, thereby indirectly connecting the respective distal end 109 of said each beam 105 to said each line holding portion 520.

[0292] Figure 23 shows an enlarged, schematic view of an example of how each beam 105 may be provided with a hoisting line 115. In this example, the guide 110 is located at the distal end 109 of said each beam 105, thereby dispensing with the need for the guiding arm 107. Furthermore, the hoisting line 115 can run in a hollow core of said each beam 105, while emerging at an outer surface of said each beam 105, e.g. close to the ground for convenient access by e.g. an operator or the like. Thanks to that the wind-responsive solar panels 400 has a low weight, e.g. compared to conventional rooftop installations, hoisting of the wind-responsive solar panels 400 can be realized using relatively small motors, i.e. motor having relatively low power.

[0293] Figure 22 shows an enlarged, schematic view of an example of how each beam 105 can be arranged to achieve that the elongated arrangement 600 is hoistable. In these examples, said each beam 105 can be provided with a respective hoisting slot 137 having a lower portion 138 and an upper portion 139. The lower portion 138 is configured to receive a guiding head 136. A solar cell rod 500 of the elongated arrangement 600 can comprise the guiding head 136. Alternatively, a hoisting bar 130 can comprise the guiding head 136.

[0294] In some examples, hoisting lines as in Figure 21 can be combined with slots as in Figure 22. An advantage can be that hoisting can be facilitated thanks to the hoisting lines 115 and at the same time the upper portion 139 provides for a convenient way of securing that the elongated arrangement 600 remains at an elevated position.

[0295] With the various examples relating to the solar panel suspension system 100 herein, the beam(s) 105 can be vertical, somewhat angled with respect to a geometric vertical axis, or the second axis Y. The beam(s) 105 can thus typically have a non-zero vertically directed component. Further, the beam(s) 105 can sometimes have a zero horizontally directed component. The beam(s) 105 can be hollow, e.g. similar to lamp-post(s). The beam(s) 105 can be build up by a truss. The beam(s) 105 can be made of wood, metal, plastic, or any other suitable material. The beam(s) 105 can be directly or indirectly connected to the ground.

[0296] With the various examples relating to the solar panel suspension system 100 herein, the interconnecting lines 120 can preferably be non-electrically connected, e.g. to one or more solar cell rods 500. This means that the interconnecting line 120 can, preferably only, mechanically connect to one or more solar cell rods 500. The interconnecting lines 120 can be realized as wires, having two ends, as loops, having no end, but possibly a seam where ends connect to form the loop, etc.

[0297] Figure 24 illustrates an example of the solar rod assembly 200 according to some embodiments herein. The elongated arrangement 600 can include any example of the solar rod assembly 200. The solar rod assembly 200 includes a wind-responsive solar panel 400 and a solar cell rod 500. The wind- responsive solar panel 400 can be a flexible solar panel, such as a thin-film solar panel, a light-weight thin and flexible solar panel, or the like as described herein. That is to say, in some embodiments a conventional wind-responsive solar panel 400 can be used. The wind-responsive solar panel 400 can have a mounting edge adapted to be attached to, such as held by, fastened to, connected to, or the like, the solar cell rod 500. In other examples, the solar rod assembly 200 comprises a solar cell assembly 200 according to any one of the embodiments disclosed herein. The solar cell rod 500 can be a rigid and / or stiff rod, having a groove 510, such as a slot, an insertion or the like, for receiving the wind-responsive solar panel 400. The groove 510 can run longitudinally along the solar cell rod 500. The groove 510 can be provided at a bottom surface 531 of the solar cell rod 500. Furthermore, the solar cell rod 500 can have at each end thereof a respective line holding portion for holding a interconnecting line. The solar rod assembly 200 can also include a junction device 530, which may be comprised in the solar cell rod or attached thereto via the groove 510 of the solar cell rod 500. The junction device 530 can include one or more bypass diodes. Furthermore, the junction device 530 can include cable connectors (not shown) for the cable(s) 190.

[0298] Now turning to Figure 25, in which an example of solar rod assembly 200 is shown. A line holding portion 520 is illustrated at one end of the solar rod assembly 200. Generally, there is one line holding portion 520 in each end of the solar rod assembly 200, such as in each end of the solar cell rod 500. The solar cell rod 500 can be made in one piece having a groove as explained further below. However, the solar cell rod 500 can comprise two elongated elements 501, 502, which together can form the groove 510. The line holding portion 520 can be a through-hole, which can run through the solar cell rod 500, e.g. along the third direction Z. In some examples, the through-hole can run through the first and second rigid, elongated elements 501, 502.

[0299] Figure 26 shows a sideview of the solar rod assembly 200. The solar cell assembly 400 extends from the bottom surface 531 of the solar cell rod 500. The bottom surface 531 faces towards the ground when the solar cell rod is suspended in any one of the examples of the solar panel suspensions system 100 herein. The solar cell rod 500 can have a top surface 532, e.g. facing away from the ground.

[0300] Figure 27 shows an example of the solar cell rod 500. The solar cell rod 500 is adapted to hold at least one solar cell assembly 400. The solar cell rod 500 is elongated, e.g. along a main extension axis X of the solar cell rod 50. A bottom surface 531 of the solar cell rod 500 is provided with at least one groove 510, extending along the solar cell rod 500, e.g. along the main extension axis X. The groove 510 is adapted to receive a portion of said at least one solar cell assembly 400. Moreover, the solar cell rod 500 comprises a solar cell connector 505 configured to electrically, e.g. serially, connect said at least one solar cell assembly 400 for transfer of electricity, e.g. between solar cell assemblies 400 and / or to / from solar cell assemblies in other solar rod assemblies 200. The solar cell connector 505 can be located, or emerge, at an inner surface of said at least one groove 510, to electrically connect to the solar cell assembly 400 when the solar cell assembly 400 is inserted into the groove 510. The inner surface can be parallel with a main extension plane XY of the solar cell rod 500. The main extension plane is parallel with, or coincident with, the solar cell assembly 400 when the solar cell assembly 400 is inserted into and removably mounted in the groove, or cavity. Summarizing, the solar cell rod 500 is elongated and has one or more grooves 510, referred to as "the groove". The groove 510 is arranged to receive and hold a wind-responsive solar panel 400, such as a solar cell assembly according to at least one example herein.

[0301] The solar cell rod 500 can be adapted to receive the solar cell assembly 400 through an opening of the groove 510 in the bottom surface 531. This can mean that the groove 510 is provided, such as formed in, or the like, the bottom surface 531. In this manner, the wind-responsive solar panel can be inserted into and / or extracted from the groove 510. When inserted, the wind-responsive solar panel can be secured (not shown) in the inserted position with one or more spikes, screws, bolts or the like.

[0302] In some examples, the solar cell rod 500 can be adapted to receive the solar cell assembly 400 through an aperture of the groove 510. The aperture can be formed in a short end of the solar cell rod 500. This can be advantageous when the solar cell rod 500 is formed as one piece. The aperture of the groove 510 can allowing insertion / extraction of the wind-responsive solar panel.

[0303] In more detail, said at least one groove 510 emerges at an opening for receiving said at least one solar cell assembly 400. The opening cam be located at at least one of the two ends of the solar cell rod 500. The opening can be formed in a short side of at least one of the two ends.

[0304] With reference to for example Figure 27 and Figure 28, there is shown a bottom view of the solar cell rod 500 according to some embodiments herein. In this example, as also indicated above, the solar cell rod 500 can include a first rigid, elongated element 501 and a second rigid, elongated element 502. This means that the solar cell rod 500 can comprise two elongated elements 501, 502 that are attachable alongside each other to form the groove 510. The first rigid, elongated element 501 can include at least one groove 510, such as a cavity, a track, a channel, an indentation, a cut or the like. The groove 510 is adapted to hold the solar cell assembly 400. The groove 510 can hold one or more wind-responsive solar panels 400. In some examples, each wind-responsive solar panel 400 may be associated with a respective groove 510 for holding thereof.

[0305] The two elongated elements (501, 502) can be separable from each other. The two elongated elements 501, 502 can be joined to each other in a foldable manner. The two elongated elements 501, 502 can be longitudinally foldable, and e.g. joined with a hinge, a joint or the like, running along the longitudinal direction of the rod, in relation to each other (not shown). Further, it may be that the two elongated elements 501, 502 are transversally foldable in relation to each other.

[0306] The solar cell connector 505 can be located in one of the two elongated elements 501, 502. Figure 29 illustrates that the groove 510 can be formed by the first and second rigid, elongated elements 501, 502 jointly. Accordingly, the first and second rigid, elongated elements 501, 502 can form the groove 510 together. This can be realized by that at least one of the two elongated elements 501, 502 comprises a cavity formed by at least a part of the groove 510 when the two elongated elements 501, 502 are abutting alongside each other, e.g. releasably fastened alongside each other.

[0307] As shown in e.g. Figure 24, Figure 28, Figure 30 etc., the solar cell rod 500, having two ends 507, can comprises a respective line holding portion 520, located at each end 507 of the two ends 507. The respective line holding portion 520 can be adapted to receive a respective interconnecting line 120 for suspension of the solar cell rod 500. The respective line holding portion 520 can be formed in at least one of the two elongated elements 501, 502 as described below. The line holding portion 520 can be a through-hole, a cavity, an insert for fastening a line, or the like.

[0308] However, as shown in Figure 30, it can be sufficient that the line holding portion 520 runs through only one of the first and second rigid, elongated elements 501, 502, which may or may not have at least a portion of the groove 510. An advantage can be that a solar cell assembly 400 can due to gravity hang at an angle at rest. Hence, according to some examples, the line holding portion 510 can be configured to hold the interconnecting line 120 and / or the hoisting line 115, 116 (not shown in Figure 30 for reasons of simplification), preferably perpendicularly spaced away from the first plane XY of the solar cell rod 500. The first plane XY then runs through a center of gravity of the solar cell rod 500. Thanks to that the line holding portion 520 can be a through-hole, the interconnecting line 120 can form a loop.

[0309] In some examples, also with reference to Figure 30, the solar cell rod 500, or at least one of the first and second rigid, elongated elements 501, 502, can include one or more hinges 511 (for simplicity only one is shown in Figure 30), such as joints, or the like. As shown, one of the first and second rigid, elongated elements 501, 502 can comprise two or more separable rigid elongated elements 502a, 502b. The hinge 511 preferably provides flexibility in the third plane XZ, e.g. only the third plane XZ. In this manner, the solar cell rod 500 can maintain, or almost maintain, the same or similar height above the ground along its length, e.g. when suspended between two suspension point that are at equal distance above the ground. In view of the examples with hinges, it can be understood that the interconnecting lines 120 can in some embodiments be replaced with the aforementioned hinges.

[0310] The groove 510 can be realized according to any embodiment herein, but exemplified in Figure 30 as provided in the other one of the rigid, elongated elements 501, 502 as compared to the one provided with the line holding portion 520. The interconnecting line 120, or interconnecting lines as the case may be, can be manufactured to form a loop or the loop can be formed by that the ends of the interconnecting line 120 are fixed to each other. In some examples, the interconnecting line 120 can have two ends that are not joined to form a loop.

[0311] In general, the interconnecting lines 120 can connect the solar cell rod 500, or the solar rod assembly 200, to the hoisting bar 130, the spacing bar 125, to another solar cell rod 500 or another solar rod assembly 200, or the like. In this context, it shall be noted that the hoisting line can in some examples connect directly to the solar cell rod of the solar rod assembly 200. The interconnecting lines 120 can sometimes provide only a mechanical connection between solar rod assemblies 200, e.g. in the same row. That is to say, the interconnecting lines 120 does not provide an electrical connection between the solar rod assemblies 200, e.g. in the same row.

[0312] The interconnecting lines 120 can have a length of 10 to 50 cm, 15 to 30 cm, or about 20 cm, or the like, depending on a desired distance between the solar cell rods 500. For example, the desired distance between the solar cell rods 500 can be 1 to 10 cm, 2 to 8 cm, about 3 cm or the like. When the interconnecting lines 120 connect to the hoisting bar 130 or the spacing bar 135, the length of the interconnecting lines 120 can be longer than when the interconnecting lines 120 connect to a neighboring wind-responsive solar panel 400. A reason for this is that it can be desired to avoid shadows from the hoisting and / or spacing bar at the wind-responsive solar panels 400, i.e. being comprised in the wind-responsive solar panel 400. A width, or diameter, of the interconnecting lines 120 can be a few millimeters, such as 1 to 10 mm, 2 to 8 mm, 3 to 5 mm, or the like depending on required strength.

[0313] The interconnecting lines 120 can be made of metal, plastic, woven plastic, or the like. In general, the interconnecting lines 120 can be made of a ultraviolet light (UV) and / or weather resistant material.

[0314] Figure 26 shows an example of a solar rod assembly 200 comprising a solar cell assembly 400 and a solar cell rod 500. The line holding portion 520 can run through one or both the first and second rigid, elongated elements 501, 502. Furthermore, the line holding portion 520 can form a bore (not shown), having a bottom, in one or both the first and second elements 501, 502. As mentioned above, the solar cell rod 500 can have the bottom surface 531. The solar cell rod 500 can have a top surface 532, e.g. located oppositely to the bottom surface 531.

[0315] In e.g. Figure 25, Figure 26, Figure 28 and Figure 29, the line holding portion 520 runs in a third direction Z. The third direction Z is perpendicular to the first direction X and the second direction Y.

[0316] Figure 31 shows a cross-sectional side view of the groove 510 in examples where the groove 510 can be formed by the separable first and second rigid, elongated elements 501, 502. Notably, the groove 510 may in these examples not necessarily emerge at the short side of the solar cell rod 500. Generally, the first and second rigid, elongated elements 501, 502 are attachable to and detachable from each other, e.g. by means of screws (not shown), clips, hooks, cable ties or the like.

[0317] As shown in Figure 32, the line holding portion 520 can be a bore at a short side of the solar cell rod 500. As an example, the short side lies in a plane that is perpendicular to the first direction X, e.g. at one end of the solar cell rod 500. A hoisting line 115 or an interconnecting line 120 can be secured in the bore.

[0318] Further, Figure 33 shows that the line holding portion 520 can be a through-bore. Here, the through- bore has one opening in the short end and the other opening in a bottom surface 531 of the solar cell rod 500. The aforementioned groove 510 can emerge at the bottom surface 531. Returning to the line holding portion 520, it is noted that the line holding portion 520 can (not shown) be realized as a through-hole running along the second direction Y, i.e. from the bottom surface 531 to the top surface 532 of the solar cell rod 500.

[0319] Figure 34 shows an example which shows that the groove 510 can emerge at the short side of the solar cell rod 500. This can be the case for both when the solar cell rod 500 includes the separable first and second rigid, elongated elements 501, 502 and when they are formed as one integrated piece.

[0320] Figure 35 shows that a protrusion 521 can be provided at, or in, at least one end of the solar cell rod 500, e.g. at both ends of the solar cell rod 500. The protrusion 521 can accommodate the line holding portion 520. In the example of Figure 22, the protrusion 521 extends in the second direction Y, e.g. upwards when the solar cell rod 500 is mounted.

[0321] Returning to e.g. Figure 32, it is shown that the solar cell rod 500 can comprise a junction device 530. In this Figure, the junction device 530 is inserted into the solar cell rod 500 similarly to how the wind- responsive solar panel can be inserted. In other examples (not shown), the junction device 530 can be integrated with the solar cell rod 500. In these examples, a distal portion 210 of the solar rod assembly 200 can be a distal portion of the junction device, or a protruding element extending towards the ground similarly to the junction device. The protruding element can be releasably or fixedly connected to the solar cell rod 500, e.g. integrated with the solar cell rod 500. As mentioned herein, the distal portion can, also or alternatively, belong to, such as be part of or the like, the solar cell assembly 400. Generally, the distal portion can be part of at least one of the solar cell assembly, the solar cell rod, the solar rod assembly, the elongated arrangement or the like. In this manner, the distal portion can be held by the elongated support. Thus, the solar cells can be caused, directly or indirectly by the distal portion, to be arranged at an angle relatively a vertical plane. Generally, the distal portion, according to any one of the examples herein, can be up to about % of a length, up to about % of the length or the like. The length is here along the second direction Y. The length in the second direction Y can be the length of the solar cell assembly, the elongated arrangement, the solar rod assembly or the like.

[0322] As seen in Figure 28, the groove 510 can comprise a junction connector 506 configured to electrically connect to the junction device 530 for electrically interconnecting, e.g. serially or in parallel, two or more solar cell rods 500. At least a portion of the junction device 530 is receivable by the groove 510.

[0323] Additionally, with reference to Figure 8 and / or Figure 24, the junction device 530 can comprise a connection socket, located in a distal end thereof. The distal end can be located at the same or lower level as a lowest solar cell of the solar cell assembly. Thereby, enabling that the cables do not shade the wind-responsive solar panels since the cables hang under the wind-responsive solar panels.

[0324] Figure 36 shows a cross-section in the second plane YZ of the first elongated element 501. The line holding portion 520 is freely accessible when the first and second elongated elements 501, 502 are separated.

[0325] Figure 37 shows a cross-section in the third plane XZ of the first elongated element 501. The line holding portion 520 can have a half-circular cross-section in the first plane XY.

[0326] Figure 38 shows a cross-section in the second plane YZ of the second elongated element 502. Again, the line holding portion 520 is freely accessible when the first and second elongated elements 501, 502 are separated.

[0327] Figure 39 shows a cross-section in the third plane XZ of the second elongated element 502. The line holding portion 520 can have a half-circular cross-section in the first plane XY.

[0328] Figure 40 to Figure 43 shows side views of a cross-section of some examples of the groove 510. Generally, the cross-section of the groove 510 has a narrow section 540, such as a tapered portion 540, or the like. The narrow section 540 contributes to that the solar cell assembly 400 cannot escape the groove 510 due to gravity, i.e. when the solar cell rod 500 hangs in the solar panel suspension system 100. In some examples herein, the groove 510 has been shown as being formed in the first and / or second rigid, elongated elements 501, 502. Alternatively or additionally, the groove 510 can be formed in one integrated element comprising the first and second rigid, elongated elements 501, 502. Then, the thus formed integrated element can merge at a short end therefore for insertion and / or removal of a solar cell assembly 400. As an example, along the first direction X, some portions of the solar cell rod 500 can be formed as the integrated element with the groove 510 and other portions of the solar cell rod 500 can be formed by parts similar to the first and second rigid, elongated elements 501, 502. For simplicity, it is herein referred to the groove, while it shall be understood as said at least one groove when applicable.

[0329] As shown in Figure 40, the groove 510 can have an at least partly wedge-shaped cross-section, a wedge-shaped cross-section, or a generally wedge-shaped cross-section. The shape of the crosssection, such as an at least partial wedge-shape, tapers towards a bottom surface 531 of the solar cell rod 500.

[0330] In some examples, the groove 510 can have a cross-section in the shape of a polygon, a rectangle, a square or the like. Figure 41 shows an example in which the cross-section is at least partly rectangular.

[0331] Furthermore, as illustrated in Figure 42, the groove 510 can have a circular cross-section. In the examples of the groove 510 with a circular, or partly circular cross-section, an opening in the bottom surface 531 can be tapered, i.e. initially wider at the bottom surface 531 and tapered towards the tapered portion 540, as shown in Figure 43.

[0332] Accordingly, in view of the examples above, the cross-section of the groove 510 can have a narrow section 540 adapted to prevent the solar cell assembly 400 from escaping the groove 510 when the solar cell assembly 400 is held by the groove 510. A shape of at least a portion of a cross-section of said at least one groove 510 can be at least partially rectangular, triangular, wedge-shaped, circular, polygonal, or the like, e.g. while the narrow section 540 still is presented by the cross-section of the groove 510 as a whole.

[0333] Figure 42 further illustrates that the solar cell rod 500 can be provided with a rod protrusion 553 or a rod indentation 554 within the groove 510. The rod protrusion or the rod indentation can be encircled by a rod sealing. This is particularly beneficial when the solar cell connector 505 is located at, or in, the rod indentation or the rod protrusion. Thus, the rod sealing can ensure stable and longterm electrical contact between the solar cell rod 500 and the solar cell assembly 400. The rod protrusion 553 and / or the rod indentation 554 can be combined with the example of Figure 40 and Figure 41, and also with Figure 43 but the capability of allowing the wind-responsive solar panel to swing relatively the solar cell rod will be reduced or likely eliminated.

[0334] Figure 44 shows an example, in which the solar cell rod 500 is provided with a projecting counterweight 550. The projecting counterweight 550 can be realized as a roof portion, e.g. roof shaped portion, extending in a plane that is perpendicular to a mounted wind-responsive solar panel and parallel with the main elongated direction of the solar cell rod 500. A foot of the roof portion can be made of material that have a higher density than the remainder of the roof portion. In this manner, weight of the projecting counterweight 550 can be reduced, while still achieving the same or similar torque that can make the rod assume a desired angle. The projecting counterweight 550 thus extends away from the main elongated direction in said plane, e.g. the local XZ plane of the solar cell rod 500. This embodiment can be combined with the embodiments of the solar cell rod 500, in which the line holding portion 520 is provided asymmetrically with respect to the local XY plane. As an example, the line holding portion 520 is provided oppositely to the projecting counterweight 550, e.g. with reference to the local XY plane. In more detail, the line holding portion 520 can be provided in the first rigid, elongated element 501 and the projecting counterweight 550 can extend the second rigid, elongated element 502. The solar cell assembly 400 can preferably have solar cells only one side thereof, since the counterweight causes tilting and can also cast a shadow on one side of the solar cell assembly 400.

[0335] Figure 45 shows an example of the projecting counterweight 550, being embodied in the form of one or more branches, each carrying a respective counterweight. In further examples, the projecting counterweight 550 can be realized as a combination of the roof portion and the branch or branches with counterweights.

[0336] According to some embodiments, the solar cell rod 500 comprises a solar cell connector 505 for electrically connecting a respective solar cell assembly to the solar cell rod 500. In this manner, the solar cell rod 500 interconnects two or more solar cell assemblies mounted in the groove 510 to each other, using a serial connection, a parallel connection or even a combination thereof. In some examples, the first and / or second rigid, elongated element 501, 502 includes the solar cell connector 505. Explicitly in one example, the first rigid, elongated element 501 includes the solar cell connector 505 and the second rigid, elongated element 502 includes the groove(s) 510. In this manner, wiring, such as conducting lines, or the like, to the solar cell connector 505 can be lead without a risk of having to take the groove 510 into consideration.

[0337] Generally, the solar cell rod 500 can be made of plastic, e.g. a light-weight, rigid and strong plastic. The plastic, or plastic material, can be found on the market without undue burden. The plastic used shall be electrically non-conducting, since wiring and the solar cell connector 505 can be included in the solar cell rod 500. The solar cell rod 500 can be constructed by multiple parts that can easily be screwed together, to ensure no parts of the solar panel is uncomfortably large. The result is a modular design of the solar panel. In turn this makes it easier to transport the different parts of the solar panel, and also production in factory becomes less costly. For example, cost is reduced so that tools needed to produce the solar panels become smaller and easier to mass produce. The different parts of the solar cell rod 500 can be preassembled in such a way that the first and second rigid, elongated element 501, 502 are already connected to each other, but initially with such that a gap of the groove(s) 510 is sufficiently large to receive the solar cell assembly, e.g. the mounting edge thereof. In order to fasten the solar cell assembly is then a simple matter of tighten some screws that squeeze the first and second rigid, elongated element 501, 502 together, whereby the solar cell assembly is secured in the solar cell rod 500.

[0338] Figure 46 illustrates an example of the solar cell assembly 400 according to at least some embodiments herein. The solar cell assembly 400 can be sheet-shaped, i.e. have the shape of a sheet, panel, layer or the like. The solar cell assembly 400 extends in a main extension plane XY. A crosssection of the solar cell assembly 400 in the main extension plane XY can be rectangular, square, triangular, pentagonal, hexagonal, rhomb-shaped, leaf-shaped or the like. For purposes of being resilient to negative influence of wind, it may be beneficial that such cross-section has the shape of a leaf or triangle. As an example, the solar cell assembly 400 can have a width, e.g. in the first direction X, that is five times a height of the solar cell assembly 400, e.g. in the second direction Y. In this manner, rotation about the first direction X is reduced.

[0339] The solar cell assembly 400 has a mounting edge 450 for mounting in the solar cell rod 500 described above. Further, the solar cell region 420 is mechanically and electrically connected to the mounting edge 450 via the flexible region 410.

[0340] The solar cell assembly includes a flexible region 410 and a solar cell region 420. The flexible region 410 includes the mounting edge 450, e.g. along one of the solar cell assembly's 400 four edges when the solar cell assembly 400 has the shape of a rectangle or other four edged polygon.

[0341] Along the second direction Y and in the main extension plane XY, the flexible region 410 and the solar cell region 420 are located beside each other. Additionally, the solar cell region 420 is located distally of the flexible region 410 with respect to the mounting edge 450.

[0342] The flexible region 410 is more flexible than the solar cell region 420. The flexible region 410 lacks, such as is void of, has none, misses or the like, solar cells. As a result, the flexible region 410 can be made flexible, e.g. elastically flexible, in many different ways as explained below.

[0343] At least a portion of the mounting edge 450 is adapted to be received and held by the solar cell rod 500. In examples, where the mounting edge 450 is straight, it can be that the entire mounting edge 450 is receivable and mountable into the solar cell rod 500.

[0344] Thus, in some examples expressed somewhat differently, the solar cell assembly 400 can have a sheet-shape that extends in a main extension plane XY. The solar cell assembly 400 comprises a mounting edge 450 for suspension of the solar cell assembly 400, wherein the mounting edge 450 runs in a first direction X in the main extension plane XY along a portion of a periphery of the solar cell assembly 400. The solar cell assembly 400 further comprises a flexible region 410 extending from the mounting edge 450 in the main extension plane XY and along a second direction Y, which is perpendicular to the first direction X. Moreover, the solar cell assembly 400 comprises a solar cell region 420 that comprises one or more solar cells 430 for converting solar energy to electricity, wherein the solar cell region 420 extends from the flexible region 410 in the main extension plane XY and along the second direction Y. The solar cell region 420 is mechanically and electrically connected to the mounting edge 450 via the flexible region 410. The flexible region 410 can comprise electrical conductors 414 for electrically connecting said one or more solar cells 430 to the mounting edge 450, wherein the flexible region 410 is more flexible than the solar cell region 420. The solar cell region 420 is provided with at least one stiffening element 440 extending in the second direction Y along at least one solar cell 430 of said one more solar cells 430.

[0345] Figure 47 shows an example of the solar cell assembly 400 according to some embodiments herein. The solar cell assembly 400 can be arranged with multiple flexible regions 410 and multiple solar cell regions 420 in an alternating manner along the second direction Y. The solar cells of the solar cell assembly 400 can be receive light incident on both sides of the solar cell assembly 400. The flexible region 410 can for example be approximately 100 micrometers thick, whereas the solar cell region 420 can be either slightly thicker or many multitudes thicker depending on how the stiffening element is constructed as illustrated with the various examples herein.

[0346] The solar cell assembly 400 can include, such as be provided with, or the like, a cable connector 470, e.g. in the distal portion 460.

[0347] The solar cell assembly 400 can be biased towards a first state SI in which the flexible and solar cell regions 410, 420 extend in parallel with the main extension plane XY. In the first state SI, it can be mainly the flexible region 410 that maintains the bias for the solar cell assembly 400. The solar cell region 420 can be non-flexible, or substantially non-flexible and therefore the solar cell region 420 has no particular bias. In some examples, the first state SI can imply that the solar cells of the solar cell assembly are held at an angle relatively the second direction Y, i.e. relatively a vertical direction when the solar cell assembly 400 is suspended in an elongated arrangement 600, such as a solar cell rod 500.

[0348] The solar cell assembly 400 can further be capable of entering a second state when flexed against its bias, in which second state the flexible region 410 is flexed more, e.g. in relation to the first state, than the solar cell region 420. In this manner, the flexible region 410 can contribute to that the solar cell assembly 400 is capable of entering the second state, e.g. while the solar cell region 420 remains, or almost remains, unaffected by the flexing, e.g. at least in terms of flexing, or bending, of the solar cell region 420.

[0349] In this manner, according to at least some examples, it can be achieved that the solar cell region 420 remain relatively flat, or with a predetermined curvature, or flexing, to hold the solar cells at an angle, while the flexible region 410 contributes to the flexing of the solar cell assembly 400, e.g. out from or away from the first state, such that the second state can be entered. As a result, a resilient solar cell assembly 400 is provided where different regions thereof contribute to the resilience to different extent.

[0350] The flexibility of the flexible region 410 can be achieved according to various examples.

[0351] Figure 48 illustrates that the flexible region 410 can be sheet-shaped and be made of a flexible material, such as plastic material, a composite material or the like. The flexible material can be found on the market without undue burden. The flexible region 410 can have a layer made of the flexible material. For purposes of simplified manufacturing of the solar cell assembly 400, the flexible material of the flexible region can extend, partially or completely, into and over the solar cell region 420. Furthermore, as an example, the encapsulating layer(s) of the solar cell assembly 400 can extend partially or completely, into and over the flexible region 410.

[0352] Figure 49 illustrates that the flexible region 410 can be provided with a biased hinge 417, e.g. a spring biased hinged, or the like.

[0353] In a further example of Figure 50, the flexible region 410 comprises a set of elastically flexible strings 418 arranged to extend from the mounting edge 450 to the solar cell region 420. The elastically flexible strings 41y can conduct electricity such that electricity generated in the cells of the solar cell region 420 can flow between the solar cell assembly 400 and the solar cell rod 500 when the solar cell assembly 400 is mounted in the solar cell rod 500. Expressed differently, the electrical conductors 414 is realized in the form of the elastically flexible string 41y.

[0354] Figure 51 illustrates that the flexible region 410 may be provided with one or more passages 416, such as through-holes or the like. The passages 416 can be provided in a sheet-shaped flexible region 410, e.g. made of a flexible material or having hinges. Further, the passages 416 can be defined by spaces formed between by the set of elastically flexible strings 418. Thanks to the passages 416 the solar cell assembly 400 allows wind to more easily pass through it. In this manner, it is enabled that the solar cell assembly 400 will be exposed to less impact by forces originating from the wind. The solar cell region 420 can comprise a crystalline solar cell 430 for converting solar energy to electricity. A thickness of the crystalline solar cell 430 can be greater than 0.1 pm, typically far greater than 0.1 pm. A reason for this is that the solar cell(s) does not need to be bendable, since bending, e.g. due to wind, can take place mainly in the flexible region 410. Furthermore, the solar cell region 420 can comprise one or more encapsulating layers. The encapsulating layers can be made of ethyl vinyl acetate (EVA), or other commonly used material for encapsulation of a PV cell. The solar cell 430 can include busbars, or the like, for electrically connecting solar cells within a solar cell assembly to each other, e.g. serially or in parallel. The solar cell region 420 can be made without, e.g. be void of, hardened glass, tempered glass, toughened glass, or the like.

[0355] Figure 52 shows an example of the solar cell assembly 400, in which the solar cell region 420 has four solar cells 430. As mentioned, the solar cell assembly 400 can one or more solar cell regions 420.

[0356] In general, the solar cell assembly 400 can include various numbers of solar cells 430. The solar cells 430 can be arranged in a matrix with rows and columns, e.g. a number of rows x a number of columns, r x c. Depending on flexibility and / or how the mounting edge 450 is joined with the solar cell rod 500, the choice of the number of rows r and columns c can be different. For example, the solar cells 430 can be arranged in a matrix with 1 x 2 cells, 1 x 3 cells, 2 x 2 cells, 3 x 3 cells. The solar cells are often split into half-cells, one third-cells etc. as is often the case in standard solar panels produced today, so instead of 2 * 2 cells the solar cell assembly can include 2 * 4 half-cells or similar. In some examples, the matrix can be 2 * 10 cells (2 rows of cells, and 10 columns of cells) with the advantage that there is not so much rotational movement due to wind, but still reaching 20 solar cells in total ensuring higher production.

[0357] According to some examples, e.g. depending on the number of solar cells included in the solar cell assembly, the solar cell assembly 400 can define a rectangle with a width w and a heigh h, i.e. w x h. In some examples, the rectangle can be 30 x 40 cm, 30 x 55 cm, 45 x 40 cm or the like. In general, the width can be multiple of a width of each cell in a row of the solar cell assembly and the height can be a sum of a multiple of a height of each cell in a column of the solar cell assembly plus the space between the solar cells in the array, and optionally a height of the flexible region of the solar cell assembly 400.

[0358] In some examples, each solar cell region 420 can include the same or different number of solar cells. For example, the number of solar cells in a solar cell region 420 can decrease with the solar cell region's 420 distance from the mounting edge 450. As an example, a first row can include four solar cells, a second row, being more distant from the mounting edge than the first row, can include three solar cells, and a third row, being more distant from the mounting edge than the second row, can include two solar cells. The rows can be horizontal. There can be a flexible region between the rows, but some or all rows can be neighboring to each other without intermediate flexible regions.

[0359] Figure 53 shows an example of the solar cell assembly 400 having a uniform thickness except for at the mounting edge 450. The thickness can be 0.5 mm, 1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm, or the like.

[0360] With reference to Figure 54 according to some examples, the stiffening element 440 can be elongated. The stiffening element 440 can be arranged along the second direction Y, e.g. such that a main elongated direction of the stiffening element 440 extends along the second direction Y. In order to avoid that the stiffening element 440 obstructs light, being incident on the solar cell 430, the stiffening element 440 is provided between, or next to, the solar cells 430, e.g. as seen along the third direction Z, i.e. perpendicularly to the plane defined by the first and second directions X, Y. The stiffening element 440 extends, in the second direction Y, over at least one solar cell, or one row of solar cells. For example, in Figure 31, the stiffening element 440 extends over two solar cells 430.

[0361] In Figure 55, there is a respective the stiffening element 440 for each row of solar cells. In this fashion, it can be achieved than the solar cell region 420 is capable of achieving some flexibility, while at the same time the solar cells are protected. Notably, the flexible region 410 still remains more flexible than the solar cell region 420.

[0362] In further examples of Figure 56, in addition to or as an alternative to the stiffening element(s) extending along the second direction Y, the solar cell assembly 400 can be provided with one or more stiffening elements 440 that extend in the first direction X.

[0363] In examples, where the stiffening element 440 is provided between, or next to, the solar cells, the stiffening element 440 can be made of a suitable stiff and / or rigid material, such as XXX...., or the like. In these examples, the stiffening element 440 can be non-transparent, semi-transparent or transparent.

[0364] Yet, the stiffening element 440 can be transparent according to some examples.

[0365] In order to protect the solar cell(s) 430, the solar cell region 420 includes the stiffening element 440, such as a stiffening layer, a stiffening grid, a stiffening stick or the like. There can be one or more stiffening elements 440. The stiffening element 440 is provided in the solar cell region 420 in order to make it less flexible than the flexible region 410. Thereby, the solar cells 430 of the solar cell region 420 can be protected from breaking due to flexing, such as bending or the like, of the solar cell region 420. With reference to Figure 54 to Figure 58, examples of the stiffening element 440 are shown. The stiffening element 440 can be elongated, or extend over the surface in the xy-plane, aka the first plane XY. In previous Figure 46, yet another example of the stiffening element 440 is shown.

[0366] Figure 57 shows a cross-section of the solar cell assembly 400 with elongated stiffening elements. The cross-section can be in the second and / or third plane YZ, XZ. As shown herein, some stiffening element(s) can extend in the first direction X and / or some other stiffening element(s) can extend in the second direction Y. It can be observed that the elongated stiffening elements 440 extends only beside or between the solar cell(s) 430, e.g. as seen along the third direction Z.

[0367] Figure 58 shows a cross-section of the solar cell assembly 400 according to which the stiffening element 440 extends, e.g. in the first plane XY, over the solar cell region 420. The stiffening element 440 can thus cover the solar cell(s) 430. In this manner, the stiffening element 440 can protect the solar cell(s) 430 from being damaged by e.g. hail, or the like. At least those portions of the stiffening element 440 that otherwise would obstruct light incident on the soler cell can beneficially be made of a transparent material, such as Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) plastic, or other see-through material. Hail protection can, also or alternatively, be provided by features of the solar cell rod as described herein. The ETFE plastic can cover the entire solar cell assembly 400 in some examples. In this example, the stiffening element 440 can have a shape of a cover, a dome, or the like. Then, the stiffening element 440 can, e.g. at least partially, enclose an air cushion between the cover, the dome, or the like, and the encapsulating layer, of the solar cell region, that faces the stiffening element 440. This can be realized by that the stiffening element 440 is hollow. Further, the stiffening element can be homogenous according to some examples herein.

[0368] It may here also be noted that generally when the solar cell assembly is mounted in the solar panel suspension system according to the embodiments herein, impact of hail is smaller than in e.g. a conventional rooftop solar panel suspension system. A reason for this is that the solar cell assemblies of the solar panel suspension system are allowed to move freely, or almost freely, in response to wind. Notably, when the solar cell assemblies are held at an angle, the solar cell assemblies are still almost freely movable in response to wind. Thanks to that that wind-responsive solar panel, or solar cell assembly, moves with the wind, the solar cell assembly's main extension plane will become aligned with, or almost aligned with, a direction of travel of the hail. This applies both during wind and without, or almost without, any wind. Further, in examples including functionality for adjusting the angle, it is assumed that wind, that normally is present when it is hailing, is strong enough to cause the solar cell assembly to leave its resting position. Figure 59 illustrates a few examples of the mounting edge 450. A cross-section, e.g. in the second plane YZ, can have various shapes. Generally, the cross-section has a narrower portion 451 and a wider portion 452. The wider portion 452 can be located distally of the narrower portion 451. This means, e.g., that the wider portion 452 is wider than the narrower portion 451 along the third direction Z.

[0369] Further with reference to Figure 59, the solar cell assembly 400 can also include a rod connector 412 for electrically connecting the solar cell assembly to one or more other solar cell assemblies, e.g. directly or via the solar cell rod 500. The rod connector 412 can be located at the mounting edge 450. In more detail, according to at least some examples, the rod connector 412 is enclosed by the groove when the solar cell assembly is mounted in the solar cell rod 500, thereby ensuring that the solar cell assembly is in electrical contact with the solar cell rod 500 when also being mechanically fastened thereto.

[0370] The solar cell assembly 400 can further include electrical conductors 414 arranged to electrically connect the solar cell(s) 430 to the rod connector 412.

[0371] In some examples, the mounting edge 450 comprises a cell protrusion 453 extending in the third direction Z. As an example, the cell protrusion 453 can be a nob, a spike, a button, a tooth, a heel or the like. If the rod connector 412 is located at the cell protrusion 453, or the cell indentation 454 as the case may be, a cell sealing can encircle the cell protrusion 453, the cell indentation 454, the rod connector 412 and / or the like.

[0372] It may be noted that, in the examples with the cell protrusion 453 and / or the cell indentation 454, it is beneficial when the solar cell rod 500 includes the rod protrusion 553 and / or the rod indentation 554. Preferably, e.g. the cell protrusion 453 can be receivable by, such as form-fitted to or the like, the rod indentation 554. Likewise, the rod protrusion 553 can be receivable by, such as form-fitted to or the like, the cell indentation 454.

[0373] The rod connector 412 can be encircled by a cell sealing 413, such as a washer, a gasket, or the like. The term "cell" in "cell sealing" is merely used to distinguish the cell sealing 413 from the rod sealing. Likewise, the term "rod" in "rod sealing is merely used to distinguish the rod sealing from the cell sealing. The terms "cell" and "rod" have been used in the same or similar manner in connection with the protrusions and / or indentations when applicable. In this manner, the sealing ensures that the electrical connection between the rod connector 412 and the solar cell connector 505 remains intact, e.g. operational or the like, during though weather conditions and during the life time of the solar cell assembly 400. In view of the above, it shall be understood that the solar cell(s) 430 of the solar cell assembly 400 according to the embodiments herein can be a conventional solar cell, such as a polycrystalline solar cell, a monocrystalline solar cell, a th in-film solar cell or the like. The solar cell assembly 400 can be characterized by that is elastically flexible and that the solar cell assembly 400 comprises the flexible region 410 and the solar cell region 420, or one or more of these, which contribute to the flexibility and resilience of the solar cell assembly 400 to different degrees. It can be noted that the flexible region can lack, e.g. be void of, the stiffening element(s), thereby ensuring that flexing of the solar cell assembly 400 mainly occurs in the flexible region. As a result, the solar cell assembly can be fully flexible, i.e. able to bend up to 180 degrees, also in situations where the individual solar cells are not flexible.

[0374] Figure 60 illustrates that the solar cell rod 500 can be provided with at least one protective sheet 441, referred to as the protective sheet in the following, for protecting the solar cells of a wind-responsive solar panel 400 mounted in the groove 510. The protective sheet 441 can be made of a transparent material. The protective sheet 441 can extend in the first plane XY parallelly to the wind-responsive solar panel 400, e.g. spaced away from the wind-responsive solar panel 400, e.g. by 3 mm, 5 mm, 10 mm, or the like. Sometimes the protective sheet can be arranged at an angle, e.g. in the second plane YZ and with respect to the second direction Y or a main plane of the wind-responsive solar panel. The angle can be 20 degrees, 30 degrees, 40 degrees, 45 degrees, 50 degrees, 60 degrees, 70 degrees, 90 degrees or the like. Therefore, in some examples, at least one of the two elongated elements 501, 502 can be provided with the protective sheet 441 that extends from said at least one of the two elongated elements 501, 502 to form an air gap between the protective sheet 441 and the wind- responsive solar panel 400 mounted in the groove 510.

[0375] A length of the protective sheet 441 can be adapted to cover the solar cells of the wind-responsive solar panel. Notably, depending on the angle of the protective sheet 441, it can be sufficient that the length of the protective sheet 441 is less than a length of the wind-responsive solar panel, e.g. half the length of the wind-responsive solar panel, a third, a fourth etc. of the length of the wind- responsive solar panel.

[0376] Figure 61 shows that the protective sheet 441 can be formed as a non-planar surface, e.g. forming a dome that can be fastened at the rod and / or at a distal part of the wind-responsive solar panel 400.

[0377] It is intended to be understood that references to an elongated arrangement 600 and wind- responsive solar panel 400 may be interchanged, where the elongated arrangement 600 substantially forms a wind-responsive solar panel 400. The following examples of the present invention provide numerous advantages, including a manner for accommodating wind-responsive solar panels 400 which function effectively in low or normal wind situations, but are protected in situations of high wind.

[0378] A further advantage of the following examples of the present invention is the simple and cost effective manner in which the wind-responsive solar panels 400 may be hoisted into position, as well as moved horizontally to accommodate external conditions such as the position of the sun and / or wind forces.

[0379] Figure 62 shows an enlarged, schematic view of an example of how each beam 105 may be provided with a hoisting line 115, e.g., a respective hoisting line for each beam 105. This can mean that the elongated arrangement 600, e.g., including one or more wind-adaptive solar panels 400, is suspended between said at least two beams 105, e.g., at the distal ends 109 thereof, by means of a respective hoisting line 115 provided at said each beam 105. The guide 110 can be a conveyor, a wheel, or a holding socket adapted to receive the hoisting line 115. A first end 117 of the hoisting line 115 is connected, e.g., directly or indirectly, to the elongated arrangement 600. A second end 118 of the hoisting line 115 can be connected to a motor 150 arranged to wind up or unwind the hoisting line 115.

[0380] In some examples, the second end 118 of the hoisting line 115 can be releasably fastened at a base of the beam 105. In some examples, a user (not shown) may manually hoist the elongated arrangement 600 up and / or down. The hoisting may, for example, be done similarly to how a flag is raised on a flagpole or sails on a boat. In various examples, the hoisting line 115 can be unwound from and wound up on a drum, e.g., using the motor, manually by the user, or the like.

[0381] In some examples, the solar panel suspension system 100 comprises a hoisting bar 130, at which the respective hoisting line 115 is connected, thereby indirectly connecting the respective distal end 109 of said each beam 105 to said each line holding portion 520.

[0382] Figure 63a shows the solar panel suspension system 100 comprising beams 105 supporting wind- responsive solar panels 400 as has been previously described. The wind adaptive solar panels 400 are spaced along beams 105 during regular, or weak wind scenarios. Upon the detection or prediction of high winds, the wind-responsive solar panels 400 may be hoisted as described in this application such that the wind adaptive solar panels 400 are located substantially close together as shown in Figure 63b. This provides some protection from the impact of wind upon the wind-responsive solar panels 400.

[0383] Figure 64 shows the solar panel suspension system 100 comprising beams 105 supporting wind- responsive solar panels 400, hoisted into a bunched position where the wind adaptive solar panels 400 are located substantially close together as shown in Figure 63b. Additionally there is placed a wind protection member 900 at one distal end of the beams 105 for protecting the wind-responsive solar panels 400 from wind forces. The wind protection member 900 is anchored to the ground by ground anchoring members 902, to provide stability this ground anchoring is preferably deep within the ground. The wind protection member 900 is constructed of a strong material such as metal, plastic, wood or any other suitable material. Figures 66a and 66b show an alternative embodiment of the wind protection member 900, where the wind protection member 900 is formed in a substantially box shape wind protective enclosure 910. The wind protective enclosure 910 may be anchored to the ground by ground anchoring members 902.

[0384] Figure 65 shows the solar panel suspension system 100 comprising beams 105 supporting wind- responsive solar panels 400 further comprising hoisting lines 800, 802 attached to, or run through, each wind adaptive solar panel 400. Upon tension being applied to the hoisting line 800, 802 the wind-responsive solar panels 400 are forced away from one another, while upon tension being applied to the hoisting line 802, the wind adaptive solar panels 400 are pulled toward one another. In this manner, as would be understood by a person of skill in the art, the hosting lines 800, 802 may be used to move the wind-responsive solar panels 400 along the beams 105, at least in the manner elsewhere described.

[0385] Figure 66 shows the solar panel suspension system 100 comprising beams 105 supporting wind- responsive solar panels 400 further comprising hoisting lines 800, 802 attached to, or run through, each wind adaptive solar panel 400. Located along hoisting lines 800, 802 are stopping members 804 fixedly attached to the hoisting lines 800, 802. The stopping members 804 serve to abut the wind- responsive solar panels 400 as they are pulled or pushed by the hoisting lines 800, 802 to limit further movement of the wind adaptive solar panels 400.

[0386] In a further improvement of the present invention, a determination unit (not shown) determines the presence, or predicted presence, of strong wind force. When such a determination is made, the wind- responsive solar panels 400 are moved along the beams 105 such that the panels 400 are located in close proximity to one another as shown in Figure 63b. As an alternative, the wind-responsive solar panels 400 may be moved along the beams (105) such that they are located in a wind protective enclosure 910. This is shown in Figures 66a and 66b, where in Figure 66a the wind-responsive solar panels 400 are spaced apart, as has been elsewhere described. Upon a determination that wind is, or is forecast to be, strong, the wind-responsive solar panels 400 are moved within the wind protective enclosure 910. The manner of movement of the wind-responsive solar panels 400 may be as elsewhere described. The wind protective enclosure 910 may be in the form of a box like enclosure with external surfaces protecting the wind-responsive solar panels 400 from the wind.

[0387] The determination unit may be a computer or the like, and movement of the wind-responsive solar panels (400) may be performed as described in this document. A motor (not shown) may be attached or otherwise connected to the hoisting lines 800, 802 to generate tension and facilitate movement of the wind-responsive solar panels 400. A strong wind force may for example be 10 m / s, 20 m / s or greater.

[0388] Each embodiment, example or feature disclosed herein may be combined with one or more other embodiments, examples or features disclosed herein.

[0389] Even though embodiments of the various aspects have been described above, many different alterations, modifications and the like thereof will become apparent for those skilled in the art. The described embodiments are therefore not intended to limit the scope of the present disclosure.
