Abstract
Description
A polyether-type thiol composition and its application CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
[0001] This application is based on the Chinese patent application with application number 202410703968.4 and application date May 31, 2024, and claims the priority of the Chinese patent application. The entire content of the Chinese patent application is hereby introduced into this application as a reference. Technical Field
[0002] The present invention belongs to the field of new materials, and in particular relates to epoxy adhesives. It provides a polyether-type thiol composition and application thereof. Background Art
[0003] Decoration grouting is an indispensable process for tile laying in the construction industry. With the continuous improvement of people's quality of life and the development of the construction industry, grouting materials have also undergone updates to cement, grout and epoxy grout.
[0004] Currently, the primary caulking agent on the market is epoxy. Epoxy resin caulking agents are thermosetting polymers with excellent bonding, corrosion resistance, insulation, and high strength properties. They are suitable for bonding a variety of metal and non-metal materials and are widely used in engineering and civil engineering. However, epoxy resin, the mainstream caulking agent, is a thermosetting resin and requires a curing agent. Most curing agents are alicyclic amines and polyetheramines. Their disadvantage is that they cure very slowly at low temperatures, requiring elevated temperatures or the addition of large amounts of accelerators. To address this issue, many manufacturers add large amounts of nonylphenol to their formulations as an accelerator and toughening agent. However, after addition, the nonylphenol does not fully participate in the reaction. As the colloid ages, the nonylphenol is slowly released from the colloid, causing serious health hazards and causing the colloid to yellow and lose toughness. Another drawback of epoxy caulking agents is their poor flexibility and tendency to crack, making them difficult to meet market demand. Some manufacturers use too much polyetheramine to toughen the caulking agent, but this will lead to reduced curing efficiency and construction efficiency. Some manufacturers use diluents for toughening, but the hardness and strength of the cured product will be too low. Some manufacturers use physical methods to toughen, which will affect the density and stability after curing.
[0005] Therefore, there is an urgent need in the art for an epoxy adhesive composition that cures quickly, has good flexibility, and is safe and environmentally friendly. Summary of the Invention
[0006] The present invention addresses the gaps in the prior art and provides a polyether thiol composition and its application, wherein the polyether thiol composition comprises a polyether thiol compound and a compound represented by formula (1), wherein the polyether thiol compound is mainly obtained by reacting a polyol, a halogenated hydrocarbon, and a thiol-forming agent, wherein the polyol has a hydroxyl value of 300-600 mgKOH / g; and the compound represented by formula (1) accounts for 0.01%-8% of the total mass of the polyether thiol composition. The polyether thiol composition can be cured alone or with other thiol compounds with an epoxy resin under the action of a promoter and an auxiliary agent to prepare an adhesive, and the adhesive can be used as a raw material to prepare a caulking agent. The polyether thiol composition can not only achieve rapid curing of the epoxy resin adhesive at room temperature, but also improve the flexibility of the adhesive system, enhance the long-term safety of the caulking agent product application scenarios in the construction industry, and maintain the physical and mental health of the human body for a long time.
[0007] The specific technical solutions of the present invention are as follows:

[0021] Compared with the prior art, the epoxy adhesive composition can regulate the reaction time and improve the flexibility of the reaction system due to the addition of the polyether thiol composition; furthermore, the epoxy adhesive composition can be used as the main raw material of a caulking agent.
[0022] In summary, the present invention provides a polyether thiol composition, and further provides an epoxy adhesive composition, which can not only achieve rapid curing of epoxy resin adhesives at room temperature, but also shorten the gel time to 2-4 minutes, which is significantly reduced compared to the curing time of 5-6 minutes of existing thiol compounds at room temperature; at the same time, it can also improve the flexibility of the adhesive system, enhance the long-term safety of the application scenarios of caulking agent products in the construction industry, and maintain the physical and mental health of the human body for a long time. [0067] Other conditions remained unchanged, the polyether thiol composition in Application Example 1 was replaced with the polyether thiol composition obtained in Examples 2-6, and the types and amounts of epoxy resin and accelerator remained unchanged, and gelation time and flexibility tests were performed respectively. Application Examples 7-10
[0068] According to the operating scheme of Application Example 5, the epoxy resins were replaced in the order of the examples: E51, E44, E51, E44; the accelerators were replaced in the order of the examples: benzyldimethylamine, benzyldimethylamine, diethylenetriamine, triethylenetetramine, and the gelation time and flexibility tests were carried out respectively. Application Comparative Examples 1-3
[0069] Other conditions remain unchanged, the polyether thiol composition in Application Example 1 is replaced by the polyether thiol composition obtained in Comparative Examples 1-3, and the types and amounts of epoxy resin and accelerator remain unchanged, and gelation time and flexibility tests are performed respectively.

[0071] The final product performance of each embodiment and comparative example is shown in the table below:
[0072] As can be seen from the table above, different contents of Formula 1 in Application Examples 1-6 result in different curing times. However, regardless of the combination, as long as the content of Formula 1 is controlled within the range specified in the specification, the curing time can be controlled within 2-4 minutes, which is significantly reduced compared to the curing time of 5-6 minutes of existing thiol compounds at room temperature.
[0073] The optimal content of Formula 1 was selected by using Examples 7-10, and then the component types in the formula were adjusted. The results showed that for different epoxy resins and accelerators, the corresponding polyether thiol compositions could achieve the expected effects.
[0074] From Comparative Examples 1-3, it can be seen that when the content of Formula 1 is lower than the lower limit in the specification, the curing time is prolonged and the flexibility of the product is affected. When its content is higher than the upper limit, although the curing time is further shortened, its flexibility is also affected. When it is not added directly, the curing time is further prolonged and its flexibility is poor. Therefore, the best choice is that the compound represented by Formula (1) accounts for 0.01-8% of the total mass of the polyether thiol composition.
[0075] It can be seen from Comparative Example 4 that, when a toughening agent commonly used in the epoxy field is used, although the toughness of the system can be improved, segregation will occur over time, affecting the use effect.

Various modifications to these embodiments will be readily apparent to one skilled in the art, and the general principles defined herein may be implemented in other embodiments without departing from the spirit or scope of the present invention. Therefore, the present invention is not limited to the embodiments shown herein but is to be construed in the widest possible manner consistent with the principles and novel features disclosed herein.
