TOPICAL MICROBIOME COMPOSITIONCROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION(S)

[0001] The present application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Application No. 63 / 599,894 filed on November 16, 2023, the entire content of which is incorporated in its entirety.FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The present invention relates to cosmetic compositions for skin care applications. In particular, the cosmetic compositions include a probiotic for use in skin care applications.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0003] A variety of cosmetic topical compositions have been developed over the years to treat skin on the face or in under the eye areas. The skin microbiome, also known as skin flora, is an ecosystem of a bacteria that lives on the skin’s surface, helping to defend against pathogens that could affect skin’s overall health and provide other benefits to the skin. Several factors can damage the skin microbiome, including environmental factors, beauty products and cleansers, as well as poor diet. To restore and / or improve the skin microbiome, changes in diet and lifestyle may be made. However, there is still a desire to use a topical approach to improve the skin and its microbiome.SUMMARY

[0004] It is an object of certain embodiments of the disclosure to provide a topical composition, and a method of using said topical composition for improving the microbiome of the skin. It has been found that combining an antioxidant, at least one prebiotic, at least one probiotic, and Finns Pinaster bark extract provided substantial improvements to the skin microbiome.

[0005] It is an object of certain embodiments of the disclosure to provide a topical formulation for improving skin hydration and skin appearance.

[0006] In an embodiment of the present disclosure, a topical formulation is provided. The topical formulation may include an antioxidant, at least one prebiotic, and Pinus Pinaster bark extract.

[0007] In some embodiments of the topical formulation, the antioxidant may include Centella Asiatica (Cica) Meristem cell culture, a mushroom extract, or a combination thereof.
