Underwear adapted for menTechnical domain

[0001] The present invention concerns an underwear adapted for the morphology of men.Related art

[0002] The comfort of underwear is object of a continuous improvement and adaptation. Although several sizes and shape of underwear are available, they do not always perfectly fit with the morphology of every man. This can generate a physical discomfort. Local perspiration, resulting from a lack of aeration, can also generate a physical discomfort. This can in addition be the source of unpleasant smells.

[0003] Beside the comfort, aspects related to health are also of importance. Underwear, due to the close contact with the skin, need for example to prevent skin maceration which may result from the perspiration. Thermal regulation, at least at localised points of body can be of great importance, in particular at genital area. Studies have indeed demonstrated that elevated local temperatures can negatively impact the male fertility.

[0004] There is thus a room for improvement of men's underwear, in terms of physical comfort, of ease, and of health.Short disclosure of the invention

[0005] An aim of the present invention is the provision of an underwear that overcomes the shortcomings and limitations of the state of the art. More particularly, an aim of the present invention is to provide an underwear having improved comfort for the user. It is a further aim to provide anunderwear adapted for men that limits or avoids the friction, the perspiration and / or the maceration of the genital parts. [0015] With reference to figure 1, the present underwear 1 comprises a front part 20 and a rear part 21. The front part 20 is joint with the rear part 21 by a first 22a and a second 22b lateral sewing so as to form together a closed piece adapted to surround the user. The lateral edges of both front 20 and rear 21 parts are joint to this end. At the bottom side of the underwear 1, the front 20 and rear 21 parts are also joint at there central portion and remain free along there most external bottom portion. The bottom edges of the front 20 and the rear 21 parts are sewn by a first 40a and a second 40b bottom sewing at there central portion. The bottom edges of the front 20 and the rear 21 parts remains free between the corresponding lateral sewing 22a, 22b and the corresponding bottom sewing 40a, 40b. Thisresults to a first bottom opening 41a and a second bottom opening 41b adapted to surround each leg of the user.

[0016] The front 20 and rear 21 parts thus together define an internal volume adapted to receive the body of a user and to protect it from the external environment.

[0017] The top edge of the front 20 and the rear 21 parts can be provided by an elastic belt 10 adapted to maintain the underwear on the body of the user.

[0018] Although not essential, the front part 20 can comprise a first front element 20a and a second front element 20b corresponding to a left and right half of the front part, and joint together. Alternatively, the front part 20 can be made of one single piece.

[0019] The front part 20 is provided with a central opening which is covered by a front cover 30. The first 31a and second 31b lateral edges of the front cover 30 are joint to the external side of the front part 20 on a fraction of there length so as to provide a first 50a and a second 50b front apertures. The first 50a and second 50b front apertures can extend on a fraction representing from 10% to 80%, or from 20% to 60%, or around 50% of the first 31a and second 31b lateral edges of the front cover 30. The first 50a and second 50b front apertures are preferably provided at a central fraction of the length of the first 31a and second 31b lateral edges.

[0020] The first 50a and second 50b front apertures allow air exchanges between the internal volume defined by the underwear 1 and the surrounding environment.

[0021] Although not essential, the front cover 30 can comprise a first cover element 30a and a second cover element 30b corresponding to a left and right half of the front cover, and joint together. A central sewing 40 canbe provided to this end, extending from the bottom sewing 40a, 40b to the top edge of the underwear 1. Alternatively, the front cover 30 can be made of one single piece.

[0022] The present underwear comprises souple baskets adapted to surround the testicles of the user. Figures 3 and 4 provide details about the basket arrangement of the present underwear 1. The first 80a and second 80b baskets are joint to the internal face of the front part 20 by their corresponding first 82a and second 82b external basket edges. The first 82a and second 82b external basket edges can be sewn on the front part. The shape and orientation of the sewing of the baskets 80a, 80b on the front part 20 is determined so as to provide the best possible comfort to the user. According to an embodiment, the first 82a and second 82b external basket edges are oriented with an angle comprised between 30° and 60° with regards to the central sewing, where applicable, or a corresponding vertical axis. Preferably, the first 82a and second 82b external basket edges are oriented with an angle Q of between 40° to 50°, or around 45° with regard to a vertical axis. The bottom end of the first 82a and second 82b external basket edges is oriented closer the central area of the underwear 1, while the top end of the first 82a and second 82b external basket edges is oriented closer the lateral sewing 22a, 22b. The first 82a and second 82b external basket edges can be seen as hinges allowing the corresponding first 80a and second 80b baskets to be adjusted with regard to the user's morphology.

[0023] According to an embodiment, the first 82a and second 82b external basket edges are straight or substantially straight. According to another embodiment, the first 82a and second 82b external basket edges form a curved line. Preferably, the centre of curvature of the curve is arranged on a central part of the underwear, for example on the central sewing 40.

[0024] The first 80a and second 80b baskets further comprise a first 83a and a second 83b free lateral basket edge and a first 84a and a second 84b top basket edge, which are also free. The term "free" here means that thecorresponding edges are not sewn on the underwear 1. The two free edges of each basket are both joint at the level of the corresponding basket connexion 81a, 81b. In other words, the first 81a and second 81b basket connexions are placed a the junction of the first 83a and second 83b free basket edges with the corresponding first 84a and second 84b top basket edges. According to such an arrangement, the top edge of a basket 80a, 80b is suspended by the corresponding suspending element 70a, 70b across the aperture provided between the front cover 30 and the bottom lining edges 63a, 63b, as described in more details below.

[0025] When the underwear 1 is worn by a user, the testicles of the same are suspended in the corresponding baskets 80a, 80b so as to not be in direct contact with the skin of the legs. Free space remains between the testicles and the legs, which allows an adequate ventilation. This limits or prevents the local perspiration and maceration. This also provides an improved comfort to the user.

[0026] According to an embodiment the first 83a and second 83b lateral edges have a convex shape so that it can spontaneously slide between the testicles and the legs of the user when he puts on the underwear 1. This also avoids any discomfort which may arise from a too straight edges at the level of the testicles. In other terms, the round shape of the free basket edges is arranged so as to envelop the testicles. It is also designed so as to avoid any frictions on the edge, in particular upon walking or sport activities. Generally speaking, the first 80a and second 80b baskets also avoid any undesired moves or friction of the testicles when the user practices physical activities likes walking or running or jumping.

[0027] The present underwear comprises a first 70a and a second 70b suspending elements. A first end 700a, 700b of the first 70a and second 70b suspending elements is joint to the top side of the underwear 1. It can be for example sewn under the belt 10 or at another suitable top position of the underwear 1 .

[0028] The first 70a and second 70b suspending elements extend from the top toward the bottom side of the underwear. The second end 701a, 701b of the first 70a and second 70b suspending elements is provided with a suspender connexion 702a, 702b adapted to connect a first 80a and a second 80b basket placed under the apertures provided between the front cover 30 and the bottom lining edges 63a, 63b.

[0029] Each one of the first 80a and second 80b baskets is provided with a corresponding first 81a and second 81b basket connexion adapted to cooperate with the corresponding first 702a and second 702b suspender connexions. According to an embodiment, when connected to the corresponding suspending elements 70a, 70b, part of the first 80a and second 80b baskets is arranged across the apertures provided between the internal face of the front cover 30 and the bottom lining edges 63a, 63b.

[0030] According to an embodiment the first 702a and second 702b suspender connexions comprise a frame 710 which can be linked to the corresponding suspending elements 70a, 70b. It can be linked for example by mean of a transversal beam 720 around which the corresponding suspending elements 70a, 70b can be arranged. Each one of the first 702a and second 702b suspender connexions further comprises a hook 730 on which the corresponding first 81a and second 81b basket connexion can be arranged. To this end, each of first 81a and second 81b basket connexions can take the form of a loop, adapted to receive the hook 730. According to an embodiment, the hook 730 comprises a lateral opening 740 so that the loop of the basket connexion can be easily inserted onto, and removed from the hook 730. Alternatively, the hook 730 can be fully closed so that the basket connexion cannot be removed.

[0031] According to a preferred embodiment, the suspending elements 70a, 70b surround a transversal beam 720 of the corresponding suspender connexion so that the suspender connexion can be adjusted along the suspending elements 70a, 70b. The available length of the suspending elements can thus be adapted according to the needs.

[0032] According to an embodiment, the first 50a and second 50b front apertures of the present underwear can be protected by one or several pieces adapted to the passage of air, while avoiding the passage of any objects, from the inside volume to the external environment and the other way round. Figures 2 and 3 better show the inside face of the underwear 1. The genital parts of the user are thus contained in the internal volume of the underwear 1 without possibility of escaping through the first 50a and second 50b front apertures. The protective pieces can take the form of an internal lining 60. Such an internal lining 60 is preferably provided with through holes from less than few millimetres such as less than 5, or 2 or 1 millimetres.

[0033] The first 61a and second 61b lateral edges of the internal lining 60 are sewn on the internal face of the front part 20 so that access to the internal volume from outside remains not possible through this way.

[0034] According to an embodiment, the internal lining 60 can be made of one single piece. Alternatively, the internal lining 60 comprises a first 60a and a second 60b lining elements, corresponding to a left and right half of the internal lining 60. In case the internal lining 60 is made on a single piece, it is preferably sewn to the internal side of the front cover 30 at its central portion so as to avoid any communication between the first 50a and second 50b front apertures. For example, a central vertical sewing can be provided. Where applicable, the central vertical sewing can correspond to the central sewing 40.

[0035] In case of a first 60a and a second 60b lining elements, their respective first 62a and second 62b central lining edges are sewn to the internal side of the front cover 30 at its central portion. According to an embodiment, first 62a and second 62b central lining edges are in contact to each other so that they can be sewn together with the internal side of the front cover 30. Alternatively, the first 62a and second 62b central lining edges can be spaced apart, while still being sewn with the internal side ofthe front cover 30. This results in that, from the first 50a and second 50b front apertures, the internal lining 60, or the corresponding first 60a and second lining elements, form together with the front cover 30, or the corresponding first 30a and second 30b cover elements, an intermediate pocket.

[0036] The bottom edges 63a, 63b of the internal lining 60, or the corresponding first 60a and second 60b lining elements, remains free between the corresponding first 61a and second 61b lateral lining edges, and the corresponding first 62a and second 62b central lining edges. In other words, the bottom edges 63a, 63b of the internal lining 60, remains not sewn to the front cover 30.

[0037] According to an embodiment, the bottom edges 63a, 63b of the lining part 60 are inclined with regard to an horizontal axis. They can be oriented by an angle R comprised between 20° and 80°, or between 30° to 60°, with regard to an horizontal axis. The first 63a and second 63b bottom lining edges are preferably oriented with an angle R between 40° and 50° with respect to the horizontal. The external end of the first 63a and second 63b bottom lining edges, which join the corresponding first 61a and second 61b lateral lining edges, is placed below their central end, which is close to the central area of the underwear 1.

[0038] Although the first 63a and second 63b bottom lining edges can be straight, in can be advantageously be curved so as to provide more space around the testicles of the user. The central portion of the bottom lining edge can for example have a round shape upwards.

[0039] Although the first 83a and second 83b external basket edges can be placed in the continuation of the corresponding first 61a and second 61b lateral lining edges, they can be offset toward the centre or the periphery of the underwear 1. The basket is less enveloping when the corresponding external edge is offset toward the periphery of the underwear and surroundsthe testicle on a larger surface when offset toward the centre of the underwear 1 .

[0040] According to a preferred embodiment, the length of the first 70a and second 70b suspending elements can be adjusted so as to adapt the shape of the corresponding first 80a and second 80b baskets to the morphology of the user. The transversal rod or beam 720, above described, can be provided to this end. By this way, the first 702a and second 702b suspender connexions can slide along the suspending elements until reaching an adequate position and then clamped at such an adequate position by tightening the suspending element around the central rod. Any other relevant adjusting means can of course be envisaged. The first 702a and second 702b suspender connexions are advantageously accessible from outside the underwear 1 , when it is worn by the user, across the first 50a and second 50b front apertures. By this way, the user can easily adjust on real time the length of the first 70a and second 70b suspending elements, depending on the immediate needs. In other words, there is no need to remove the underwear so as to adjust the baskets 80a, 80b and put on it again. The first 702a and second 702b suspender connexions are preferably arranged in front of the corresponding first 50a and second 50b front apertures. The size of the first 50a and second 50b front apertures is conversely defined so as to allow an easy adjustment of the baskets.

[0041] The term "adjustment" and related terms, here define the positioning of the baskets around the genital parts of the user, whether it should be more tight or more loose, lower or higher. The adjustment is thus based on the feeling of the user and his comfort or discomfort. The more loose or tight shape of the baskets is defined by the length of the corresponding suspending element. The longer is the suspending element, the more loose will be the basket and the shorter is the suspending element the tighter will be the basket.

[0042] The first 70a and second 70b suspending elements can be made of souple strips of fabric which exhibit a relatively low or no elasticity. Thebasket adjustment is thus precisely defined. Alternatively, the first 70a and second 70b suspending elements can be made of an elastic material so as to allow variations around an adjusted position of the baskets.

[0043] The different parts of the present underwear 1, including the front part 20, the rear part 21, the basket 80a, 80b, the suspending elements 70a, 70b, are made of suitable materials, such material can be independently selected from a natural or synthetic material. The natural material includes cotton fabric, hemp fabric, silk fabric, bamboo viscose fabric. The synthetic material includes Organza fabric, Florence net fabric, nylon fabric, spandex fabric, polyester fabric. Other material such as satin fabric, lace fabric, jersey fabric, mesh fabric, microfibers fabric, can also be used. Mixture of such materials can be envisaged. Preferably, textiles based on cellulosic or wood product, such as Tencel, modal or micromodal can be used.

[0044] The material of the baskets can be the same or different from the one of the lining. It is preferably selected among a porous souple material so that air can cross it. It is indeed an advantage to still allow some aeration between the basket and the skin of the testicle it surrounds.

[0045] For the purpose of the present description, the position and orientation terms like "vertical", "horizontal", "lateral", "central", "front", "rear", "top", "bottom" and related terms should be understood as their usual meaning. These terms are applied to the present underwear when it is put on the user and the user stands. For example, the belt is arranged on the top of the underwear at an horizontal orientation, while the openings for the leg passages are arranged at the bottom. The front part is adapted to dress the genital parts of the user while the rear part covers the buttocks.reference symbols in the figures1 Underwear10 Belt20 Front part20a First front element20b Second front element21 Rear part21a First rear element21 b Second rear element22a, 22b Lateral sewing 30 Front cover30a, 30b First and second cover elements31a, 31 b Lateral edges of the front cover 40 Central sewing40a, 40b Bottom sewing41a, 41 b First and second bottom openings50a, 50b First and second front apertures 60 Internal lining60a, 60b First and second lining elements61a, 61 b first and second lateral edges of the internal lining62a, 62b First and second central lining edges 63a, 63b First and second bottom lining edges 70a, 70b First and second suspending elements700a, 700b First end of suspending elements 701a, 701 b Second end of the suspending elements 702a, 702b Suspender connexion of the suspending elements80a, 80b First and second baskets81a, 81 b First and second basket connexions82a, 82b First and second external basket edges83a, 83b First and second free basket edges 84a, 84b First and second top basket edges.
