Abstract

Various aspects of the present disclosure relate to communication related to measurement result. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) receives a first signaling from a network node indicating a first downlink reference signal for determining a UE measurement result, receives a second signaling from the network node at a first time instance, in which the second signaling indicates an uplink reporting of the UE measurement result at a second time instance. The UE reports the UE measurement result to the network node. The UE measurement result is based on the first or the second time instance or an index associated with the first downlink reference signal.

[0112] Split of functionality between a CU, a DU, and an RU may be flexible and may support different functionalities depending upon which functions (e.g., network layer functions, protocol layer functions, baseband functions, radio frequency functions, and any combinations thereof) are performed at a CU, a DU, or an RU. For example, a functional split of a protocol stack may be employed between a CU and a DU such that the CU may support one or more layers of the protocol stack and the DU may support one or more different layers of the protocol stack. In some implementations, the CU may host upper protocol layer (e.g., a layer 3 (L3) , a layer 2 (L2) ) functionality and signalling (e.g., RRC, service data adaption protocol (SDAP) , Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) ) . The CU may be connected to one or more DUs or RUs, and the one or more DUs or RUs may host lower protocol layers, such as a layer 1 (L1) (e.g., physical (PHY) layer) or an L2 (e.g., radio link control (RLC) layer, MAC layer) functionality and signalling, and may each be at least partially controlled by the CU.

[0113] Additionally, or alternatively, a functional split of the protocol stack may be employed between a DU and an RU such that the DU may support one or more layers of the protocol stack and the RU may support one or more different layers of the protocol stack. The DU may support one or multiple different cells (e.g., via one or more RUs) . In some implementations, a functional split between a CU and a DU, or between a DU and an RU may be within a protocol layer (e.g., some functions for a protocol layer may be performed by one of a CU, a DU, or an RU, while other functions of the protocol layer are performed by a different one of the CU, the DU, or the RU) .

[0114] A CU may be functionally split further into CU control plane (CU-CP) and CU user plane (CU-UP) functions. A CU may be connected to one or more DUs via a midhaul communication link (e.g., F1, F1-c, F1-u) , and a DU may be connected to one or more RUs via a fronthaul communication link (e.g., open fronthaul (FH) interface) . In some implementations, a midhaul communication link or a fronthaul communication link may be implemented in accordance with an interface (e.g., a channel) between layers of a protocol stack supported by respective network entities 102 that are in communication via such communication links.

[0115] The core network 106 may support user authentication, access authorization, tracking, connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The core network 106 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) , or a 5G core (5GC) , which may include a control plane entity that manages access and mobility (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME) , an access and mobility management functions (AMF) ) and a user plane entity that routes packets or interconnects to external networks (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW) , a Packet Data Network (PDN) gateway (P-GW) , or a user plane function (UPF) ) . In some implementations, the control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management (e.g., data bearers, signal bearers, etc. ) for the one or more UEs 104 served by the one or more network entities 102 associated with the core network 106.

[0116] The core network 106 may communicate with the packet data network 108 over one or more backhaul links 116 (e.g., via an S1, N2, N2, or another network interface) . The packet data network 108 may include an application server 118. In some implementations, one or more UEs 104 may communicate with the application server 118. A UE 104 may establish a session (e.g., a protocol data unit (PDU) session, or the like) with the core network 106 via a network entity 102. The core network 106 may route traffic (e.g., control information, data, and the like) between the UE 104 and the application server 118 using the established session (e.g., the established PDU session) . The PDU session may be an example of a logical connection between the UE 104 and the core network 106 (e.g., one or more network functions of the core network 106) .

[0117] In the wireless communications system 100, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may use resources of the wireless communications system 100 (e.g., time resources (e.g., symbols, slots, subframes, frames, or the like) or frequency resources (e.g.,  subcarriers, carriers) ) to perform various operations (e.g., wireless communications) . In some implementations, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support different resource structures. For example, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support different frame structures. In some implementations, such as in 4G, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support a single frame structure. In some other implementations, such as in 5G and among other suitable radio access technologies, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures (i.e., multiple frame structures) . The network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures based on one or more numerologies.

[0118] One or more numerologies may be supported in the wireless communications system 100, and a numerology may include a subcarrier spacing and a cyclic prefix. A first numerology (e.g., μ=0) may be associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. In some implementations, the first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with the first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may utilize one slot per subframe. A second numerology (e.g., μ=1) may be associated with a second subcarrier spacing (e.g., 30 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A third numerology (e.g., μ=2) may be associated with a third subcarrier spacing (e.g., 60 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix or an extended cyclic prefix. A fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) may be associated with a fourth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 120 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A fifth numerology (e.g., μ=4) may be associated with a fifth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 240 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix.

[0119] A time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to frames (also referred to as radio frames) . Each frame may have a duration, for example, a 10 millisecond (ms) duration. In some implementations, each frame may include multiple subframes. For example, each frame may include 10 subframes, and each subframe may have a duration, for example, a 1 ms duration. In some implementations, each frame may have the same duration. In some implementations, each subframe of a frame may have the same duration.

[0120] Additionally or alternatively, a time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to slots. For example, a subframe may include a number (e.g., quantity) of slots. The number of slots in each subframe may also depend on the one or more numerologies supported in the wireless communications  system 100. For instance, the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth numerologies (i.e., μ=0, μ=1, μ=2, μ=3, μ=4) associated with respective subcarrier spacings of 15 kHz, 30 kHz, 60 kHz, 120 kHz, and 240 kHz may utilize a single slot per subframe, two slots per subframe, four slots per subframe, eight slots per subframe, and 16 slots per subframe, respectively. Each slot may include a number (e.g., quantity) of symbols (e.g., OFDM symbols) . In some implementations, the number (e.g., quantity) of slots for a subframe may depend on a numerology. For a normal cyclic prefix, a slot may include 14 symbols. For an extended cyclic prefix (e.g., applicable for 60 kHz subcarrier spacing) , a slot may include 12 symbols. The relationship between the number of symbols per slot, the number of slots per subframe, and the number of slots per frame for a normal cyclic prefix and an extended cyclic prefix may depend on a numerology. It should be understood that reference to a first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may be used interchangeably between subframes and slots.

[0121] In the wireless communications system 100, an electromagnetic (EM) spectrum may be split, based on frequency or wavelength, into various classes, frequency bands, frequency channels, etc. By way of example, the wireless communications system 100 may support one or multiple operating frequency bands, such as frequency range designations FR1 (410 MHz –7.125 GHz) , FR2 (24.25 GHz –52.6 GHz) , FR3 (7.125 GHz –24.25 GHz) , FR4 (52.6 GHz –114.25 GHz) , FR4a or FR4-1 (52.6 GHz –71 GHz) , and FR5 (114.25 GHz –300 GHz) . In some implementations, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may perform wireless communications over one or more of the operating frequency bands. In some implementations, FR1 may be used by the network entities 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for cellular communications traffic (e.g., control information, data) . In some implementations, FR2 may be used by the network entities 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for short-range, high data rate capabilities.

[0122] FR1 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least three numerologies) . For example, FR1 may be associated with a first numerology (e.g., μ=0) , which includes 15 kHz subcarrier spacing; a second numerology (e.g., μ=1) , which includes 30 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a third numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing. FR2 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least 2 numerologies) . For example, FR2 may be associated with a third  numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) , which includes 120 kHz subcarrier spacing.

[0123] Artificial intelligence (AI)  / machine learning (ML) model may be used for postioning. In some solutions, in difference cases for AI posotioning, For training data generation of AI / ML based positioning Case 1, the measurement and its related data (e.g., timestamp) are generated by PRU and / or Non-PRU UE. For training data generation of AI / ML based positioning Case 2a and 2b, the channel measurement and its related data (e.g., time stamp) are generated by PRU and / or non-PRU UE. For training data generation of AI / ML based positioning Case 3a and 3b, the measurement and its related data (e.g., timestamp) are generated by TRP / gNB. The measurement and the label should be for the same UE at approxiately the same time, if the measurement data and label data come from different entities. The time stamps are included in Part A and Part B to pair them up for approxiately the same time. General description of including time stamp, details on how to associate with UE ID, and linkage between part A (measurements associated information) and part B (ground truth related information) are not involved in some solutions.

[0124] For UE side model for case 1 / 2a / 2b, the ground truth position of UE is based on PRS measurements, it should be available at the LMF side. Time instance for the UE reported PRS based measurements should be available at LMF. For case1 / 2a, the ground truth should be transmitted from LMF to UE. The transmission can contain ground truth for multiple UEs, including normal UE and PRU UE. UE id indication is necessary. For case 3a / 3b, the ground truth position is based on SRS measurements, it should be available at LMF. The SRS can be transmitted by multiple UEs and received by a single gNB, so differentiation of SRS measurement related to different UEs is necessary. Issue for case 1 / 2a / 2b (take case 1 as an example) above and issue for case 3a / 3b above are shown in Table 1 and Table 2.

[0127] Some embodiments of present disclosure discusses the issues related to time instance of PRS measurements, UE ID transmission from LMF to UE for PRS based measurement, UE ID associated with SRS measurements. Principles and implementations of embodiments of the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to FIGS. 2-11.

[0128] FIG. 2 illustrates an example signaling diagram illustrating an example process that supports communication related to measurement result in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The process 200 as shown in FIG. 2 involves a user equipment (UE) 201and a network node 202. In some examples, an example of the network node 202 may be a location management function (LMF) . In some other examples, an example of the network node 202 may be a base station (BS) , e.g. a gNodeB (gNB) . In some examples, the UE 201, the network node 202 may perform operation (s) related to transmitting or receiving in the process 200 via their transceivers, respectively. In some examples, the UE 201 and a core network node (e.g. the LMF as like, as an example of the network node 202) may communicate with each other via a BS. In some other examples, the BS as an example of the network node 202 may further communicate with other network node (s) , e.g. the LMF etc.. Some examples in the process 200 may provide some solutions for associating a time stamp with UE reported PRS based measurements. There are several methods to associate a time stamp with the UE reported PRS based measurements, and they are to be described below. In the process 200, as an example, the network node 202 and the LMF may be used interchangeably in some examples.

[0129] In the process 200, the network node 202 may transmit (212) , to the UE 201, a first signaling 205 indicating a first downlink reference signal for determining a UE measurement result. The first downlink reference signal is indicated in a time or frequency domain resource. The UE 201 may receive (214) the first signaling 205 from the network node 202. In some examples, the first downlink reference signal may be a PRS. The network node 202 may transmit (216) a second signaling 215 to the UE at a first time  instance. The second signaling 215 may indicate an uplink reporting of the UE measurement result at a second time instance. The UE 201 may receive (218) , from the network node 202, e.g. the LMF, the second signaling 215.

[0130] After obtaining a measurement result 225 based on the first downlink reference signal, the UE 201 may report (220) the measurement result 225 to the network node 202. On the network node 202 side, the network node 202 may receive (222) the measurement result 225. The reporting is triggered by the network node 202, e.g. the LMF. Alternatively, the reporting may be determined by the UE 201 itself on one or more pre-configured resources.

[0131] In some examples, the UE measurement result is based on the first time instance or the second time instance, or based on an index associated with the first downlink reference signal. In some examples, a time domain position of the first downlink reference signal to determine the measurement result 225 is earlier than a time domain position based on a first time instance of the second signaling 215 and a first threshold. The first time instance of the second signaling 215 can be, e.g. a time instance of reporting indication from the LMF. For example, the reporting is triggered by the LMF, and the associated PRS occasion is based on a time instance (i.e. the first time instance) of reception of the reporting indication. The PRS occasion associated with the reporting may be the latest one or multiple PRS occasions which are earlier than T_i –T_thre. Where the T_i is the time instance of reporting indication indicated by the LMF, i.e. the first time instance, and the T_thre is a configured or predefined threshold, i.e. the first threshold. The PRS occasion or the first symbol of PRS is an example of the time domain position of the first downlink reference signal. The time domain position based on both the first time instance and the first threshold is T_i –T_thre. The PRS occasion is earlier than T_i –T_thre in the example above.

[0132] In some examples, a time domain position of the first downlink reference signal to determine the measurement result 225 is earlier than a time domain position based on a second time instance of the reporting and a second threshold. For example, the reporting is triggered by the LMF or determined by the UE itself on one or more pre-configured resources. In such examples, the associated PRS occasion may be based on a time instance of the reporting by the UE. As an example, the PRS occasion associated with the reporting is the latest one or multiple PRS occasions which are earlier than T_r  –T_thre_2. Where the T_r is a time instance of the reporting by the UE, i.e. the second time instance. The T_thre_2 is a configured or predefined threshold, i.e. the second threshold. The PRS occasion or the first symbol of PRS is an example of the time domain position of the first downlink reference signal. The time domain position based on the second time instance and the second threshold is T_r –T_thre_2. The PRS occasion is earlier than T_r –T_thre_2 in the example above.

[0133] In some examples, the first threshold and / or the second threshold is based on UE capability. That is, the configured or predefined thresholds may be based on UE capability. On the network node 202 side, the network node 202 may configure, to the UE 201 reporting the measurement result 225, the first threshold and / or the second threshold based on the capability of the UE 201.

[0134] In some examples, the network node 202 may transmit, to the UE 201, configuration information indicating a number of the at least one metric. The UE 201 may receive the configuration information indicating the number of the at least one metric. For example, each PRS occasion is associated with a reporting metric, then the number of reporting metrics in a reporting instance may be configured. In some examples, the at least one metric of the measurement result may comprise: timing information, or power information, or phase information, or reference signal timing difference (RSTD) , or reference signal received power (RSRP) , or reference signal received path power (RSRPP) ; or received signal code power (RSCP) ; or any combination thereof.

[0135] In some examples, the UE 201 may report a capability of the UE 201 for performing the reporting of one or more of the at least one metric. In other words, the UE 201 may report its capability on supporting of the metric (s) . E.g. the capability may be timing information or both timing and power information. Then the network node 202 may receive the reported capability of the UE 201. Futher, the second signaling is indicated based on the UE reported capability.

[0136] In some examples, the measurement result 225 is based on an index associated with a time instance of the first downlink reference signal. In some examples, the UE 201 may report the index to the network node 202, e.g. the LMF. Then the network node 202, e.g. the LMF, may receive the index from the UE 201. For example, the UE reports one or more PRS occasion index associated with the reporting. The PRS occasion index is an example of the time instance of the first downlink reference signal.

[0137] In some examples, the index is determined based on a first time domain position from which at least one time instance is indexed. In other words, the index is based on time instance of the first downlink reference signal and is indexed from a first time domain position. In some examples, the first time domain position may be configured or predefined. For example, the first time domain position Index#0 is based on a predefined position, e.g. one of frame#0, frame#40, and frame#80. In some examples, the first time domain position may be based on a first time instance of the second signaling 215. For example, the Index#0 is implicitly determined based on time instance for reception of the LMF indication (i.e. the second signaling 215) . In some examples, the first time domain position may be based on a second time instance of the reporting. For example, the Index#0 is implicitly determined based on time instance for the reporting by the UE. In some examples, the first time domain position may be based on a plurality of time domain positions and one of the first time instance or the second time instance. For example, the Index#0 is based on a predefined position, e.g. frame#0, frame#40, frame#80. Which one will be selected will be determined based on time domain position between frame#0 / 40 / 80 and a time instance for the reporting by the UE or a time instance of the LMF indication. As an example, a time instance for the reporting by the UE or a time instance of the LMF indication is nearest to frame#0 among the predefined positions, then the frame#0 may be selected. As another alternative to determine the first time domain positon for indexing, among the plurality of time domain positions, the time domain position which is nearest to the first time instance or the second time instance is selected as the first time domain position.

[0138] In some examples, the index is one of a plurality of indexes indicating a plurality of time instances, and the plurality of indexes are increased with decrease of the plurality of time instances. For example, an Index#0 may be the nearest one to reporting by the UE, and eariler PRS occasion may be associated with a larger index. I. e. The index is increased with the time instance value is decreasing.

[0139] In some examples, the UE 201 may report, e.g. to the network node 202, a quality level associated with the reported measurement result. In other words, the UE may report a quality level corresponding to the measurements together with the measurement results. The network node 202 may receive the reported quality level associated with the reported measurement result from the UE 201.

[0140] FIG. 3 illustrates an example signaling diagram illustrating another example process that supports communication related to measurement result in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The process 300 as shown in FIG. 3 involves a UE 301 and a network node 302. In some examples, an example of the network node 302 may be a location management function (LMF) . In some other examples, an example of the network node 202 may be a base station (BS) , e.g. a gNodeB (gNB) . In some examples, the UE 301 and the network node 302 may perform operation (s) related to transmitting or receiving in the process 300 via their transceivers, respectively. In some examples, the UE 301 and a core network node (e.g. the LMF as like, as an example of the network node 302) may communicate with each other via a BS, e.g. a gNodeB (gNB) . In some other examples, the BS as an example of the network node 302 may further communicate with other network node (s) , e.g. the LMF etc..

[0141] In the process 300, the network node 302, e.g. the LMF, may transmit (312) a first signaling 305 associated with UE position information. The UE position information may be position information of a first UE. Then the UE 301 may receive (314) , from the network node 302, e.g. the LMF, the first signaling 305 associated with the UE position information. The first UE may be the same as or different from the UE 301 receiving the first signaling 305. In some examples, by transmitting the first signaling 305, the network node 302, e.g. the LMF, may indicates to the UE 301 ground truth.

[0142] The UE 301 may obtain a channel measurement result associated with the first UE. The channel measurement result may comprise timing information, power information, phase information, or any combination thereof. Specifically, in some examples, the network node 302, e.g. the LMF, transmit (316a) a second signaling 315 associated with the channel measurement result. Then the UE 301 may receive (318a) , from the network node 302, the second signaling 315 associated with the channel measurement result. Therefore, the UE 301 may obtain the channel measurement result based on the received second signaling 315 associated with the channel measurement result. By transmitting the second signaling 315, the network node 302, e.g. the LMF, may indicate to the UE 301 the channel measurement result. In some other examples, the UE 301 may receive from a base station (not shown) downlink reference signal for determining the channel measurement result. Therefore, the UE 301 may determine (318b) the channel measurement result based on the received downlink reference signal for determining the channel measurement result.

[0143] In some examples, the first signaling 305 comprises the UE position information or a measurement result for determining the UE position information.

[0144] In some examples, the first signaling 305 and / or the second signaling 315 indicates an index associated with a UE identity (ID) . Based on this index, the UE 301 receiving corresponding information can pair the channel measurement result and ground truth with a same index. The UE ID may be a global ID, or a local ID, or an absolute ID, or a logical ID. For example, there are 120 UEs in the coverage area of the LMF, then the indexes 0-119 may be used for UE indexing.

[0145] The network node 302 may further transmit a type indicator indicating that the channel measurement result comprises the timing information, the power information, the phase information, or any combination thereof. The UE 301 may receive, from the network node 302, the type indicator above. For example, there is a type indicator indicating whether the channel measurement is timing information only, or includes both timing information and power information, or includes timing information and power information and phase information.

[0146] In some examples, the UE 301 may report, to the network node 302, a capability of the UE 301 for supporting one or more types of the channel measurement result. The network node 302 receive the information indicating the capability of the UE 301 above. The types of the channel measurement result may comprise the timing information, the power information, the phase information, or any combination thereof. For example, the UE 301 may report its capability on supporting of the type., e.g. the capability may be timing information, or both timing and power information.

[0147] The UE 301 may determine (320) an association between the UE position information and the channel measurement result. On the network node 302 side, the network node 302 may also determine (322) the association between the UE position information and the channel measurement result. The association between the UE position information and the channel measurement result may be determined in various ways as below.

[0148] In some examples, when a time domain difference between a time instance of reception of the first signaling 305 and a time instance of reception of the second signaling 315 is within a first configured or predefined threshold, the UE position information and the channel measurement result are associated. For example, as described in alternative 2  below, each ground truth is associated with a latest channel measurement which is earlier than the ground truth by a configured or predefined value.

[0149] In some examples, when a time domain difference between a time instance of the reception of the first signaling 305 and a time instance of reception of the downlink reference signal is within a second configured or predefined threshold, the UE position information and the channel measurement result are associated.

[0150] In some examples, the first signaling 305 may be associated with a first starting time domain position. The channel measurement result may be associated with a second starting time domain position. The first starting time domain position and / or the second starting time domain position may be configured or predefined. When a first index associated with the first signaling 305 relative to the first starting time domain position is same as a second index associated with the channel measurement result relative to the second starting time domain position, the UE position information and the channel measurement result are associated.

[0151] In some examples, the first index and / or the second index is determined by only considering the first signaling 305 or the channel measurement result associated with a same UE associated index.

[0152] In some examples, the first signaling 305 is associated with a configured first index, and the channel measurement result is associated with a configured second index. Further the first signaling 305 is associated with the channel measurement result which has a same index with the first signaling 305. In such examples, the association between the first signaling 305 and the channel measurement result, i.e. the association between the UE position information and the channel measurement result, may be explicitly indicated by an index.

[0153] With reference to the process 300, some solutions related to the LMF indicating to the UE an UE index associated with channel measurement result and ground truth may be provided. In some examples, the channel measurement and the ground truth for model training may be related to the UE with the model (case#A) , or alternatively, the channel measurement result and the ground truth for model training may be related to other UEs (case#B) , e.g. PRU (s) . For the case#Aabove, if the ground truth is based on UE PRS measurement result, then the LMF should transmit the UE position or ground truth to the UE. For the case#B above, the LMF needs to transmit, to the UE with the  model, both the channel measurement result and corresponding ground truth / UE position. If the channel measurement result and the ground truth for model training are related to other UE, e.g. the PRU, when receiving the channel measurement result and the ground truth, the UE should know its associated UE ID for proper pairing.

[0154] For training the model, e.g. an AI  / ML model related to positioning, the ground truth should be associated with a channel measurement result. The channel measurement result and the ground truth should actually be associated with the same UE. The time distance between channel measurement result and the ground truth should be within a duration where the UE movement is marginal. Specifically, the details will be described in two aspects, i.e. for restriction of a same UE and for time domain restriction. That is, the association between the UE position information and the channel measurement result are based on the two aspects above.

[0155] For restriction of a same UE, in one scheme (scheme 1) , the indicated ground truth also indicates an index associated with UE ID. In another scheme (scheme 2) , the channel measurement result and the ground truth are indicated together or within a configured / predefined duration, so that they are associated with a same UE and the same time instance. In a further scheme (scheme 3) , there is a first starting time domain position configured or predefined for the channel measurement result, and a second starting time domain position configured or predefined for the ground truth. The channel measurements are indexed from the first starting time domain position, and the ground truth are indexed from the second starting time domain position. With reference to FIG. 4 which illustrates an example of channel measurement and ground truth with same index from corresponding position being paired together in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure, the channel measurements are indexed from the first starting time domain position, and the ground truth are indexed from the second starting time domain position, and each channel measurement result is associated with the ground truth having a same index.

[0156] As mentioned above, the LMF may transmit a second signaling 315 associated with the channel measurement result, in other words, the channel measurement result can be transmitted from the LMF to the UE. In this case, the time instance to determine association is the reception time instance, i.e. the time instance of reception of the first signaling 305. It is further mentioned that in some examples, the UE 301 may determine  the channel measurement result based on the received downlink reference signal for determining the channel measurement result. In such examples, the channel measurement result can be derived by the UE itself. In this case, the time instance to determine association is the measurement instance, specifically may be the time instance of reception of the downlink reference signal above.

[0157] For time domain restriction, the scheme 2 and scheme 3 above can already determine the association above from perspective of both UE ID and the time instance. So time domain restriction may be only applicable when scheme 1 is adopted. Specifally, an alternative (alternative 1) may be the combination of scheme 1 and scheme 3. In this alternative, when determine the index from first starting time domain position and second starting time domain position for the scheme 3, only channel measurement and ground truth having same UE ID is counted. In another alternative (alternative 2) , each ground truth is associated with a latest channel measurement which is earlier than the ground truth by a configured or predefined value. The channel measurement is always associated with a PRS occasion. In a further alternative (alternative 3) , the associated channel measurement for a ground truth is explicitly indicated by an index. The index can be a PRS occasion index in a configured / predefined window.

[0158] FIG. 5 illustrates an example signaling diagram illustrating a further example process that supports communication related to measurement result in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The process 500 as shown in FIG. 5 involves a base station (BS) 501 and a network node 502. In some examples, an example of the network node 502 may be a location management function (LMF) . An example of the BS 501 may be gNB. In some examples, the BS 501 and the network node 502 may perform operation (s) related to transmitting or receiving in the process 500 via their transceivers, respectively.

[0159] In the process 500, the base station 501 may transmit (512) , to the network node 502, a first measurement result 505 based on a first uplink reference signal. The network node 502 may receive (514) , from the base station 501, the first measurement result based on the first uplink reference signal. The first measurement result 505 is based on a first index and comprises timing information, or power information, or phase information, or any combination thereof.

[0160] The base station 501 may transmit (516) , to the network node 502, a second measurement result 515 based on a second uplink reference signal. Then the network node 502 may receive (518) , from the base station, the second measurement result 515, based on the second uplink reference signal. The second measurement result 515 is based on a second index and is associated with a positioning method. An example of the first uplink reference signal and the second uplink reference signal may be SRS. In some example, the first index or the second index is a UE identity (ID) . Alternatively, the first index or the second index is associated with the at least one UE ID.

[0161] The base station 501 and the network node 502 may further determine (520, 522) an association between the first measurement result 505 and the second measurement result 515, respectively.

[0162] As mentioned above, the first measurement result 505 is based on a first index, and the second measurement result 515 is based on a second index. A measurement result being based on a index means that the index associated with the measurement result is explicitly indicated. For example, in some examples, the base station 501 may transmit, to the network node 502, at least one of the first index and the second index. The network node 502 receiveS, from the base station 501, at least one of the first index and the second index. In such examples, the index (es) is (are) transmitted, thus the index associated with the measurement result is explicitly indicated.

[0163] In some other examples, the measurement result being based on a index means that the index associated with the measurement result is implicitly indicated. For example, resource (s) of the first uplink reference signal, and resource (s) of the second uplink reference signal, may be for determining the first index and the second index, respectively. For example, on the base station 501 and / or the network node 502 side (s) , the first index is determined based on at least one of resources of the first uplink reference signal, and the second index is determined based on at least one of resources of the second uplink reference signal.

[0164] The resource may be a time domain resource, a frequency domain resource, or a code domain resource. The frequency domain resource may be centralized or distributed. For example, odd RB and even RB correspond to different frequency domain index. As another example, larger RB index and smaller RB index correspond to different frequency domain index. The code domain resource may comprise an orthogonal cover  code (OCC) sequence or a cyclic shift (CS) . For example, the code domain resource can be TD-OCC, FD-OCC or CS. E.g. difference CS value are associated with different code domain index. E.g. Different OCC sequence are associated with different code domain index.

[0165] The base station 501 and / or the network node 502 may determine relationship between each of the first index and the second index and an associated UE ID, respectively. For example, the relationship between the first index (index_1) and UE ID (id_1) is configured or predefined. In some examples, the relationship may be between UE ID and one or more of time / frequency / code domain resource of SRS. E.g. id_1 = index_1  / N or id_1 = index_1 mod M, where M or N is configured or predefined. As another alternative, time index is same as UE id, or code domain index is same as UE id. In some examples, the first index may indicate the time domain resource of SRS, or indicate the UE ID. With reference to FIGS. 6A and 6B which illustrate examples of relationship between UE ID and an index in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. As shown in FIGS. 6A and 6B, both the M and N above is 4.

[0166] In some examples, the UE ID is a local ID, or an absolute ID, or a logical ID, or a UE ID associated with a positioning reference unit (PRU) . E.g There are 120 UEs in the coverage area of a LMF, then index 0-119 can be used for UE indexing.

[0167] In some examples, the base station 501 may transmit, to the network node 502, an indication of a first measurement type associated with the first measurement result and a second measurement type associated with the second measurement result. On the network node 502 side, the network node 502 may receive, from the base station, the indication of the first measurement type and the second measurement type above. In some examples, the first measurement type may indicate that the first measurement result is for input of an artificial intelligence (AI)  / machine learning (ML) model. The second measurement type may indicate that the second measurement result is related to output of the AI  / ML model. For example, the gNB transmits to the LMF two kinds of SRS based measurements, in which one kind is for model input, e.g. timing information, or both the timing information and power information, or the timing information and power information and phase information. The other kind between the two kinds of SRS based measurements is for existing positioning methods, e.g. RSTD, RSRPP, RSCP, etc. The  kind / type of model input may also be transmitted from the gNB to the LMF or configured by LMF to gNB.

[0168] In some examples, the first measurement type and the second measurement type are indicated by at least one explicit indication. For example, the gNB may indicates which kind the SRS based measurement is, e.g. using an explicit indication by 1 bit. E.g. “1” means the first measurement type and “0” means the second measurement type. In some examples, the first measurement type and the second measurement type are indicated by an implicit indication based on an order in which the first measurement result and the second measurement result are transmitted. For example, an implicit indication may be based on the order of the measurement. E.g. the 1st one is for the model input which corresponds to the first measurement type (or type A measurement) , and the 2nd one is for existing positioning which corresponds to the the second measurement type (or type B measurement) .

[0169] In some examples, the association between the first measurement result 505 and the second measurement result 515 is determined based on the first index being the same as the second index. In some examples, the association between the first measurement result 505 and the second measurement result 515 is determined based on a time difference between transmission of the first measurement result and transmission of the second measurement result being within a duration. For example, the gNB transmits to the LMF two kinds of SRS based measurements together or within a configured / predefined duration. So that the LMF knows that these two measurement can be paired for model training.

[0170] As another example, the type B measurement is associated with a latest type A measurement which is earlier than type B measurement by a threshold, or the type A measurement is associated with a latest type B measurement which is earlier than type A measurement by a threshold. Thus, the type B measurement is associated with the type A measurement, that is, the second measurement result is associated with the first measurement result.

[0171] In some examples, the first index is relative to a first starting position, and the second index is relative to a second starting position. In some examples, the first starting position and the second starting position may be predefined. In some examples, the first starting position and the second starting position may be configured by the network node  502. In some examples, the first starting position and the second starting position may be determined based on a time instance of reception of a triggering signaling from the network node. For example, two starting position is configured. The first starting position is for SRS based measurement for the model input (i.e. type A measurement) , and the second position is for SRS based measurement for the existing positioning methods (i.e. type B measurement) . If the type A measurement has a same index as the type B measurement after corresponding starting position, they are paired together.

[0172] With reference to the process 500, some solutions, for example, the gNB indicating to the LMF an UE ID associated with SRS based measurements. The part A may correspond to the first measurement result for an input of the AI  / ML model. The part B may correspond to the second measurement result related to an output of the AI  / ML model, for example the ground truth.

[0173] SRS based measurement is used to determine ground truth based on existing positioning methods. The channel measurement and the ground truth paired together should be associated with the same UE. There are several methods to determine the UE id for a SRS based measurement: one method is that, for example, the gNB transmits to LMF SRS based measurement and an index associated with corresponding UE ID. E.g. the index is UE ID. The SRS is scheduled by the gNB, so when the gNB performs the SRS based measurement, it knows corresponding UE ID. So it can transmit both UE id and SRS based measurement to the LMF. The measurement may be for model input or for the existing positioning methods. Both types of measurements needs corresponding UE ID indication. The measurement type should also be indicated. The details may refer to some examples above.

[0174] Another method is that, for example, a first index is determined based on at least one of time / frequency / code resource of a SRS. When the gNB transmits the SRS based measurement result to the LMF, the first index is transmitted together. Such examples may refer to the examples of the index associated with the measurement result being implicitly indicated.

[0175] A further method is that, for example, as mentioned above, the gNB transmits to the LMF two kinds of SRS based measurements together or within a configured / predefined duration. Then the LMF knows that these two measurement can be paired for model training.

[0176] There is a time position (or referred to as reference time domain position) for the time domain resource of SRS to determine the first index. It can be configured, predefined (e.g. frame#1) , or implicitly determined based on the time instance of measurement transmission from the gNB to the LMF.
