Abstract
Description
[0001] ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD
[0002] TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0003] The invention concerns a system and a method for managing a smart energy grid on a territory. “Smart” means having a significant level of data processing and automation.
[0004] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0005] Nowadays, hydrogen technologies are implemented in buildings, factories, and vehicles, for various uses. Hydrogen devices include production devices, storage devices, and consumption devices. Hydrogen devices can be distributed in a smart energy grid, for example, a microgrid equipping an industrial site. However, the existing systems for managing the energy grid are not fully satisfactory.
[0006] US20090048716A1 discloses an energy management system for a smart energy grid, designed for optimizing the use of utility-supplied energy sources and renewable energy sources. The system includes a microprocessor-based optimizer, which optimizes the mix of energy from all available energy sources, to satisfy the electric, thermal, and transportation fuel demands of the installation according to various optimization factors, such as the lowest possible cost. In this regard, the system optimizes a stored volume of stored energy, using a first formula that includes parameters accounting for energy requirements of a building, energy requirements of at least one vehicle powered in part or in whole by the type of energy stored, and user-configurable optimization criteria. Besides, the system optimizes amounts of power obtained from the utility-provided energy sources, produced by the renewable energy sources, and produced by converting energy in the stored volume of stored energy to power. The respective amounts of power are optimized according to a second formula that is dependent on the first formula. The system can include hydrogen devices, such as electrolyzers, hydrogen reformers, hydrogen storage tanks, hydrogen fuel cells, hydrogen cars such as plug-in hybrids (“PHEV”) or pure- electric vehicles (“PEV”). The system is not designed for precise monitoring and analysis of the hydrogen devices parameters.
