Abstract
Description
[0001] FOREND BARREL CONNECTION IN SINGLE SHOT AND BREAK ACTION RIFLE
[0002] Technical Field
[0003] The subject matter of this invention relates to a forend and barrel attachment mechanism for ease of assembly / disassembly of single shot and break action rifles.
[0004] Prior Art
[0005] In single shot and break action rifles, which are generally used for hunting and sport shooting, the barrel is opened (broken) from the receiver by the user by separating / rotating the joint from the axis, allowing a new cartridge to be inserted into the rifle. General principle of use of a break action rifle:
[0006] Barrel Opening(breaking): the user opens the barrel of the rifle by separating it from the receiver. This usually takes place around the joint or axis at the bottom of the barrel.
[0007] Cartridge Loading : When the barrel is opened, the user places a new cartridge into the rifle.
[0008] Barrel Closure: after the cartridge is inserted, the user closes the barrel back towards the reciver. This is the step that activates the firing mechanism and makes the rifle ready for firing.
[0009] Trigger Pull and Firing: When the trigger is pulled, the firing mechanism is activated. This mechanism usually includes a trigger mechanism and releases the firing pin when the trigger is pulled. The firing pin fires the cartridge.
[0010] Ignition and Cartridge Explosion: The firing pin lights the cartridge and activates the igniter inside the cartridge. This starts an ignition process that causes the cartridge to explode and eject from the barrel.
[0011] The user can then open the barrel again to remove the empty cartridge and insert a new cartridge.
[0012] The forend, usually made of wood, plays a role in the barrel control, balancing / stabilization and targeting in single shot break-barrrel rifles. The forend, which is fixed to the barrel, makes it easier for the user to grip the rifle, thus increasing targeting accuracy. The forend also increases stabilization by supporting the relatively thin and delicate barrel, which is more functional.

[0014] Aim of the Invention
[0015] The main purpose of the invention is to provide ease of assembly / disassembly in single shot and break action rifles.
[0016] Another purpose of the invention is to enable the barrel wedge to approach the ammunition chamber by means of a linkage mechanism.
[0017] A further purpose of the invention is to strengthen the union of the receiver and the handguard during the recoil of the rifle.

[0042] 14. Bolt Head
[0043] 15. Barrel Joint
[0044] The subject matter of this invention basically consists of a barrel wedge(4) on the barrel(2), and a locking bolt(6) and a receiver support piece(9) localized on the forend(3).
[0045] The barrel wedge(4) on the barrel(2) is preferably U-shaped or crescentshaped, with one end open. It is preferably located on the barrel between 60 and 120 mm from the ammunition port of the barrel(2). (Figures 8 - 9)
[0046] The forend(3) fits over the barrel(2) in such a way that it partially covers the barrel(2). There is receiver support piece(9) at the part where the forend(3) fits on the rifle body. The receiver support piece(9) is made of metal. There are at least two pins(10) and a bolt housing(12) on the receiver support piece(9), which are solid, cylindrical or formed in different forms (pentagonal, hexagonal, quadrangular, etc.).
[0047] There are pin housings(13) in the projection of these pins(10) on the forend(3). By inserting the pins (10) into the mentioned pin housings(13), circular movement and vertical movement of the receiver support piece(9) on the forend(3) is prevented. In order to fix the receiver support piece(9) to the forend(3), the receiver support bolt(ll) was passed through the bolt housing(12) on the receiver support piece(9).
[0048] In this way, it is ensured that the receiver support piece(9) is locked and fixed on the forend(3) in both the circular and horizontal axis, and the movement of the receiver support piece(9) on the forend(3) is prevented. The fact that the receiver support piece(9), which is in contact with the receiver(5) of the forend(3), is fixed to the forend and that it is metal, increases its resistance against forces that may come from both the rifle itself and from outside, such as recoil and fall. (Figures 2, 3, 4, 5, 7)
[0049] A locking bolt(6) is inserted into the other end of the forenf(3). The locking bolt(6) is located in the bolt channel(7) formed along the forend(3) and its other end enters the receiver support piece(9) by rotating through the grooves. When the forend(3) rests on the barrel(2), the barrel wedge(4) also enters the bolt channel(7). In order to allow the barrel wedge(4) to enter the bolt channel(7), the width of the channel is widened in the parts where the barrel wedge(4) enters (Figures 4, 5, 6).
[0050] The locking bolt(6) also passes through the barrel wedge(4), preferably U or crescent-shaped, open at one end, located on the barrel when the forend(3) is closed on the barrel(2). (Figure 8) When the forend(3) is closed on the barrel(2), there is a bolt stage(8) with a diameter larger than the diameter of the locking bolt(6) in the part of the said locking bolt(6) between the said receiver support piece(9) and the said barrel wedge(4). (Figures 4, 5, 6)
[0051] At the end of the locking bolt(6) outside the forend, there is a bolt head(14) which allows the user to turn the locking bolt(6) by hand without using any auxiliary tools. For this reason, the bolt head(14) preferably has a serrated, rough structure.
[0052] After the forend(3) is closed / seated on the barrel(2), the bolt head(14) is rotated manually by the user. The end of the locking bolt(6) that enters into the receiver support piece(9) moves on the grooves with the effect of the rotation and the locking bolt(6) moves in a linear A direction. Thus, the bolt stage(8) moves in the A direction towardsthe barrel wedge(4) and the locking bolt(6) is turned, the bolt stage(8) partially enters the barrel wedge(4) and pulls the barrel(2) in the A direction towards the barrel joint(l 5) on which it is mounted on the receiver(5) and pushes the forend towards the receiver(2). The partial entrance of the bolt stage(8) into the barrel wedge(4) prevents vertical movement of the forend(3), while the pushing of the bolt stage(8) into the barrel wedge(4) ensures that the barrel(2) and the forend(3) are are compressed into the receiver(2).
[0053] By turning the bolt head(14) in the opposite direction, the locking bolt(6) moves in the opposite direction B and the bolt stage(8), which partially enters the barrel wedge(4) and pushes the barrel wedge(4), is separated from the barrel wedge(4) and the forend(3) becomes detachable from the barrel(2).
