Description

[0001] A STRUCTURE FOR AXIALLY FIXING THE CENTERING PART OF A THREE AND FOUR-ARM CARDAN SHAFT FLANGE

[0002] Field of the Invention

[0003] The present invention relates to the three and four-arm flange part of the cardan shaft which provides rotational movement and power transmission between the differential and the transmission in motor vehicles.

[0004] The invention particulary relates to a structure for axially fixing the centering part, which is a part of the three- and four-arm flange, within the flange.

[0005] State of the Art

[0006] The three- and four-arm flange part is welded to the cardan shaft tube, on the one hand, it ensures the connection of the shaft, and on the other hand, it maintains concentricity with the shaft coming out of the transmission. In the current technique, the flange is mounted by welding and bolting, thus transferring power and movement. Three and four arm flanges, which are traditionally produced by the hot forging method, are alternatively produced by the cold forming method from flat steel. In the three and four arm flange design produced by cold forming method from flat steel, there are situations where it must be designed as two separate parts due to production constraints. Negativities that may occur in the assembly relationship of these two parts may lead to error modes in the cardan shaft.

[0007] In the current state of the art, there are some advantages and disadvantages in three and four arm flange parts made by cold forming method using flat steel. Advantages include the fact that the production of three and four arm flange using flat steel saves on cost, weight and reduces or eliminates machining. Disadvantages include the need to produce two pieces, since the extension direction of the centering part and the welding forms of the three and four arm flange parts are different.

[0008] It is important to fix the centering part, which is a part of the three and four arm flange, within the flange. However, in the current technique, there is no solution to prevent an assembly-related error in the three and four arm flange body of the centering part. Due to the inadequacy of current techniques, a new structuring and assembly method is required to restrict the movement of the centering part in the axial direction in the two piece and three and four arm flange and to prevent assembly-related errors.

[0009] As a result of the research carried out on the subject, document No US2021396276A1 is encountered. In the relevant document, it is seen that no extension is made for the welding form, and the welding process is performed on the surface of the flange. Since an extension form was not realized here, an extension form was created for the centering piece. The centering bushing is nailed to this form and no additional centering piece is required. However, since friction welding does not take place between two similar geometries and the geometries to be frictionally joined are of very different shapes, special knowledge is required for the welding process.

[0010] As a result of the research carried out on the subject, document No W02006032393A1 is encountered. The relevant document concerns the propeller shaft with fasteners, in which the three arm flange and the centering bush are provided as a single piece. In the current technique, a three arm flange with a single-piece structure and a centering part connected to it are mentioned. However, there is no information specifically about the retaining ring and the retaining ring channel used between the centering part and the flange.

[0011] As a result of the research carried out on the subject, another document No TR2021 / 019614 is encountered. The relevant document is about the propeller shaft flange and its production method used in the propeller shaft that provides rotational movement and power transmission between the differential and the transmission in motor vehicles. In the current technique, a centering piece is used to mount the centering bush, but no solution is provided to prevent an assembly-related error in the three and four arm flange body of this piece.

[0012] As a result due to the abovementioned disadvantages and the insufficiency of the current solutions regarding the subject matter, a development is required to be made in the relevant technical field.

[0013] Object of the Invention

[0014] The present invention aims to solve the abovementioned disadvantages by being inspired from the current conditions. The main object of the present invention is to ensure that the centering part, which is a part of the three and four-arm flange, is fixed to the flange and restricts its movement in the axial direction.

[0015] Another object of the invention is ensured by the retaining ring inserted into the retaining ring groove located on the surface of the flange and centering part.

[0016] Another object of the invention is to create a surface staking profile for the centering part by applying a surface staking process on the surface of the three and four arm flange. In this way, the centering part is mounted to the main body of the three and four arm flange by driving it down to the retaining surface on the body and then axial movement is prevented by staking method the material on the centering part through the body part.

[0017] In order to fulfill the above-mentioned objects, the invention is a structure on for fixing the centering part, which is connected to the three or four-arm flange part, which is located on the cardan shaft, which provides rotational movement and power transmission between the differential and the transmission in motor vehicles, and which provides rotational movement and power transmission, characterized by comprising;

[0018] • A flange retaining ring groove formed within the main body of the three and four-arm flange,

[0019] • A centering part retaining ring groove formed on the connection surface of the centering part and

[0020] • A retaining ring which is inserted into said centering part retaining ring groove, then, together with the centering part, is driven into the flange retaining ring groove located within the flange body, thus fixing the centering part within the flange and restricting its radial and axial movements.

[0021] The invention is also a structure for fixing the centering part, which is connected to the three and four-arm flange part, which is located on the cardan shaft, which provides rotational movement and power transmission between the differential and the transmission in motor vehicles, and which provides rotational movement and power transmission, characterized in that, it comprises the following a surface staking profile formed by the accumulation of material from the flange body as a result of staking , which compresses the centering part and restricts its movement after mounting the centering part to the main body of the three- or four-arm flange by driving it into the body up to the body retaining face.

[0022] The structural and characteristic features of the present invention will be understood clearly by the following drawings and the detailed description made with reference to these drawings and therefore the evaluation shall be made by taking these figures and the detailed description into consideration.

[0039] Detailed Description of the Invention

[0040] In this detailed description, the preferred embodiments of the inventive three and four arm flange (10, 50) part are described by means of examples only for clarifying the subject matter.

[0041] Said three and four arm flange (10, 50) part is located on the cardan shaft, which provides rotational movement and power transmission between the differential and the transmission in motor vehicles and provides rotational movement and power transmission. The centering bush (40) is the part that ensures concentricity with the shaft coming out of the transmission. The centering part (20), which is a part of the three or four arm flange (10, 50), is the part on which the centering bush (40) is mounted and must be fixed to the flange body and its movement in radial and axial directions is restricted. In order to achieve this, in the embodiment of the invention comprises the three arm flange (10) part and the centering part (20), shown in Figure 1 , retaining ring (30) is used to fix the two parts mentioned to each other.

[0042] In the embodiment of the invention, there is a flange retaining ring groove (11) in the main body of the flange (10) through which the retaining ring can be passed. However, the aforementioned configuration also comprises a centering part retaining ring groove (21 ) which forms on the connection surface of the centering part (20). As can be seen in the structure given in the cross-sectional view of the assembled state in Figure 2, the retaining ring (30) is first passed through the centering part retaining ring groove (21 ), then the centering part (20) and the flange located in the three arm flange (10) body are driven down into the retaining ring groove (11 ). In this way, the centering part (20) is ensured to be fixed within the three arm flange (10), and its radial and axial movements are restricted.

[0043] Figure 3 shows another embodiment of the invention. In the embodiment of the invention, the centering part (20) is mounted on the main body of the three arm flange (10) by driving down it to the retaining face (13). The surface staking profile (12), which is formed as a result of staking on the three arm flange (10) body, compresses and fixes the centering part (20) and restricts its movement.

[0044] Figure 4 shows the view of the centering bush (40), which ensures concentricity with the shaft coming out of the transmission, with the three arm flange (10). As seen in Figure 5, the views of the four arm flange (50) part and the centering part (20) are shown. Said flange retaining ring groove (11), centering part retaining ring groove (21) and ring (30) structure are also included in the four arm flange (50) application of the invention.
