Abstract
Description
[0001] DESCRIPTION
[0002] A SYSTEM FOR EXTINGUISHING FIRE IN ELECTRIC VEHICLES
[0003] Technical Field
[0004] The present invention relates to a system for automatically ejecting a hose from inside an electric vehicle during a fire, which establishes a physical connection between the battery environment and the external environment in order to enable direct intervention to a fire occurring in the battery of the electric vehicle.
[0005] Background of the Invention
[0006] Fire may occur in the batteries of electric vehicles during charging and / or as a result of an accident. In the event of a fire in the cells of the lithium batteries used in the said electric vehicle, a chemical reaction that produces oxygen (02) takes place. The oxygen formed by the chemical reaction on the battery cannot be extinguished with carbon dioxide (C02) based extinguishers. Especially in electric vehicles in the form of trucks and / or buses, it is very difficult for fire brigades to reach the battery because the battery is on the vehicle. In addition, the fact that the battery is produced in a way that is resistant to outdoor conditions makes it impossible for fire brigades to intervene with the battery in case of a possible fire due to its design. During a fire in electric vehicles, especially in the form of trucks and / or buses, it takes a very long time for fire brigades to bring the fire under control due to the location of the battery, the fact that the battery is not affected by the external environment and the chemical reactions occurring on the battery. The reaction and gas formed on the battery due to the fire that cannot be brought under control in a short time causes an explosion on the vehicle. An explosion causes the fire on the vehicle and shrapnel fragments from the vehicle to spread around, causing loss of life and property. For the explained reasons, it is very important to bring a fire on an electric vehicle under control in a short time. For this reason, there is a need for a system which allows the fire brigades to intervene in the fire that occurs on the battery from the outside by launching the fire hose that establishes a direct physical connection between the battery and the external environment by being triggered during a fire on the electric vehicle.
[0007] The Korean patent document no. KR20210124619, an application included in the state of the art, discloses a fire extinguishing system included in the vehicle. In the invention subject to the said Korean patent document, Disclosed is a fire extinguishing system for a vehicle, comprising a docking unit that is installed on a vehicle body exterior panel provided to cover an interior space provided in a vehicle, includes a hole formed to pass through the vehicle body exterior panel, and is configured to insert and couple a fire hose or spray nozzle for supplying fire extinguishing water into the hole; a supply pipe having one end connected to the docking unit; and a nozzle assembly that is installed in the interior space of the vehicle and configured with the other end of the supply pipe connected thereto so as to spray the fire extinguishing water supplied through the supply pipe from the fire hose or spray nozzle coupled to the docking unit for suppression of a fire occurring in the interior space of the vehicle. With the fire extinguishing system for a vehicle, a fire occurring in an internal space of a vehicle can be quickly and effectively suppressed by simply connecting a fire hose or spray nozzle to the vehicle without opening a flap door.
