[0036] As would be understood by persons of ordinary skill in the art, system 200 may further include any number of modules other than the modules shown in FIG. 2. Those skilled in the art will understand that the various illustrative blocks, modules, circuits, and processing logic described in connection with the embodiments disclosed herein may be implemented in hardware, computer-readable software, firmware, or any practical combination thereof. To clearly illustrate this interchangeability and compatibility of hardware, firmware, and software, various illustrative components, blocks, modules, circuits, and steps are described generally in terms of their functionality. Whether such functionality is implemented as hardware, firmware, or software can depend upon the particular application and design constraints imposed on the overall system. Those familiar with the concepts described herein may implement such functionality in a suitable manner for each particular application, but such implementation decisions should not be interpreted as limiting the scope of the present disclosure.

[0037] In accordance with some embodiments, the UE transceiver 230 may be referred to herein as an "uplink" transceiver 230 that includes a radio frequency (RF) transmitter and a RF receiver each comprising circuitry that is coupled to the antenna 232. A duplex switch (not shown) may alternatively couple the uplink transmitter or receiver to the uplink antenna in time duplex fashion. Similarly, in accordance with some embodiments, the BS transceiver 210 may be referred to herein as a "downlink" transceiver 210 that includes a RF transmitter and a RF receiver each comprising circuity that is coupled to the antenna 212. A downlink duplex switch may alternatively couple the downlink transmitter or receiver to the downlink antenna 212 in time duplex fashion. The operations of the two transceiver modules 210 and 230 may be coordinated in time such that the uplink receiver circuitry is coupled to the uplink antenna 232 for reception of transmissions over the wireless transmission link 250 at the same time that the downlink transmitter is coupled to the downlink antenna 212. Conversely, the operations of the two transceivers 210 and 230 may be coordinated in time such that the downlink receiver is coupled to the downlink antenna 212 for reception of transmissions over the wireless transmission link 250 at the same time that the uplink transmitter is coupled to the uplink antenna 232. In some embodiments, there is close time synchronization with a minimal guard time between changes in duplex direction.

[0038] The UE transceiver 230 and the base station transceiver 210 are configured to communicate via the wireless data communication link 250, and cooperate with a suitably configured RF antenna arrangement 212 / 232 that can support a particular wireless communication protocol and modulation scheme. In some illustrative embodiments, the UE transceiver 210 and the base station transceiver 210 are configured to support industry standards such as the Long Term Evolution (LTE) and emerging 5G standards, and the like. It is understood, however, that the present disclosure is not necessarily limited in application to a particular standard and associated protocols. Rather, the UE transceiver 230 and the base station transceiver 210 may be configured to support alternate, or additional, wireless data communication protocols, including future standards or variations thereof.

[0039] In accordance with various embodiments, the BS 202 may be an evolved node B (eNB) , a serving eNB, a target eNB, a femto station, or a pico station, for example. In some embodiments, the UE 204 may be embodied in various types of user devices such as a mobile phone, a smart phone, a personal digital assistant (PDA) , tablet, laptop computer, wearable computing device, etc. The processor modules 214 and 236 may be implemented, or realized, with a general purpose processor, a content addressable memory, a digital signal processor, an application specific integrated circuit, a field programmable gate array, any suitable programmable logic device, discrete gate or transistor logic, discrete hardware components, or any combination thereof, designed to perform the functions described herein. In this manner, a processor may be realized as a microprocessor, a controller, a microcontroller, a state machine, or the like. A processor may also be implemented as a combination of computing devices, e.g., a combination of a digital signal processor and a microprocessor, a plurality of microprocessors, one or more microprocessors in conjunction with a digital signal processor core, or any other such configuration.

[0040] Furthermore, the steps of a method or algorithm described in connection with the embodiments disclosed herein may be embodied directly in hardware, in firmware, in a software module executed by processor modules 214 and 236, respectively, or in any practical combination thereof. The memory modules 216 and 234  may be realized as RAM memory, flash memory, ROM memory, EPROM memory, EEPROM memory, registers, a hard disk, a removable disk, a CD-ROM, or any other form of storage medium known in the art. In this regard, memory modules 216 and 234 may be coupled to the processor modules 210 and 230, respectively, such that the processors modules 210 and 230 can read information from, and write information to, memory modules 216 and 234, respectively. The memory modules 216 and 234 may also be integrated into their respective processor modules 210 and 230. In some embodiments, the memory modules 216 and 234 may each include a cache memory for storing temporary variables or other intermediate information during execution of instructions to be executed by processor modules 210 and 230, respectively. Memory modules 216 and 234 may also each include non-volatile memory for storing instructions to be executed by the processor modules 210 and 230, respectively.

[0041] The network communication module 218 generally represents the hardware, software, firmware, processing logic, and / or other components of the base station 202 that enable bi-directional communication between base station transceiver 210 and other network components and communication nodes configured to communication with the base station 202. For example, network communication module 218 may be configured to support internet or WiMAX traffic. In a typical deployment, without limitation, network communication module 218 provides an 802.3 Ethernet interface such that base station transceiver 210 can communicate with a conventional Ethernet based computer network. In this manner, the network communication module 218 may include a physical interface for connection to the computer network (e.g., Mobile Switching Center (MSC) ) . The terms “configured for, ” “configured to” and conjugations thereof, as used herein with respect to a specified operation or function, refer to a device, component, circuit, structure, machine, signal, etc., that is physically constructed, programmed, formatted and / or arranged to perform the specified operation or function.

[0042] The Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Model (referred to herein as, “open system interconnection model” ) is a conceptual and logical layout that defines network communication used by systems (e.g., wireless communication device, wireless communication node) open to interconnection and communication with other systems. The model is broken into seven subcomponents, or layers, each of which represents a conceptual collection of services provided to the layers above and below it. The OSI Model also defines a logical network and effectively describes computer packet transfer by using different layer protocols. The OSI Model may also be referred to as the seven-layer OSI Model or the seven-layer model. In some embodiments, a first layer may be a physical layer. In some embodiments, a second layer may be a Medium Access Control (MAC) layer. In some embodiments, a third layer may be a Radio Link Control (RLC) layer. In some embodiments, a fourth layer may be a Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) layer. In some embodiments, a fifth layer may be a Radio Resource Control (RRC) layer. In some embodiments, a sixth layer may be a Non Access Stratum (NAS) layer or an Internet Protocol (IP) layer, and the seventh layer being the other layer.

[0043] Various example embodiments of the present solution are described below with reference to the accompanying figures to enable a person of ordinary skill in the art to make and use the present solution. As would be apparent to those of ordinary skill in the art, after reading the present disclosure, various changes or modifications to the examples described herein can be made without departing from the scope of the present solution. Thus, the present solution is not limited to the example embodiments and applications described and  illustrated herein. Additionally, the specific order or hierarchy of steps in the methods disclosed herein are merely example approaches. Based upon design preferences, the specific order or hierarchy of steps of the disclosed methods or processes can be re-arranged while remaining within the scope of the present solution. Thus, those of ordinary skill in the art will understand that the methods and techniques disclosed herein present various steps or acts in a sample order, and the present solution is not limited to the specific order or hierarchy presented unless expressly stated otherwise.

[0044] 2. History Record Assisted Sensing

[0045] For a sensing system, the burden of management for multiple sensing targets can be several times as large as a positioning system, due to denser passive targets and more complex wireless resources for sensing. This disadvantage calls for simplification of interaction of the sensing system and configuration of the sensing wireless resource. For identification / detection by sensing objects, more information from a spectrum of time, Doppler, and / or angular domain can be needed for the sensing server, which takes a higher burden for sensing information measurement and reporting.

[0046] The measurement history information of sensing targets may be used to assist in the simplification of sensing resource configuration and sensing information report. For example, the context of sensing results carries / includes a large amount of prior information, which can act as a reference information unit. This disclosure puts forward methods around sensing ID generation and management and related methods for sensing information report simplification. Based on the history measurement, one new reference signal configuration can be utilized for saving power.

[0047] Example 1

[0048] In the current positioning system, measurements from different time samples can have an isolated relationship, and reports on different measurements can be independent. In a future sensing system, if the measurements and reports structure can be unchanged, it can raise the problem / inefficiency of, even if the sensing target stays relatively static with sensing devices, the same measurement reports are being sent repeatedly / redundantly. For a dense sensing targets scenario, the same reports being repeated may cause severe waste of wireless resources. By combining history information, the sensing server can for example build a database storing all sensing information from different moments, and sensing devices can execute operations, including adding new sensing objects, deleting old sensing objects, modifying sensing related information of sensing targets, or other operations. To enable sensing devices to know which operation can be executed, there can be for example one local database for each sensing device to manage local sensing information.

[0049] For each measurement information element from one sensing reference resource, there may be multiple estimated result instances coupled with multiple sensing targets. For one sensing target, the measurement instance can at least contain one or more of the following parameters: position, delay, distance, Doppler frequency, velocity, angular of arrival, angular of departure, micro-Doppler information, and / or other information. To identify the relationship of the measurement instance and sensing target on a local sensing device, a local identifier can be proposed, which can keep a unique coupling relationship with one specific target. One capable sensing device can build a small local sensing information database, containing a list of  measurement instances. Each instance can include a unique identifier and / or information such as time stamps. Each instance can include measurement results such as delay, distance, Doppler frequency, velocity, angular of arrival, angular of departure, micro-Doppler information and / or other information.

[0050] After executing the sensing measurement, the sensing device can observe the state changes of sensing parameters from multiple sensing targets. Potential state changes can include but are not limited to disappearing, birth of new target, parameters changing / unchanging of existing target, and / or other detailed changes. The sensing device can distinguish the relationship between a new measurement instance and stored historical measurements with identifiers (e.g., new birth or modification) . The sensing device can execute an operation to modify the local database as follows. Note that all names of operations here are non-limiting examples.

[0051] Once a sensing device finishes / completes some sensing measurements and decides to execute some operations to a local sensing database, the measurement report can be sent from the sensing device to the sensing server. The sensing server may manage a global sensing database. Based on local databases of sensing devices and / or one global database on a sensing server, the sensing measurement report from the sensing device can be simplified to the report of the local operation. A global sensing database may have the following related operations:

[0052] Multiple sensing devices may carry out sensing measurements for one sensing target. Operations on the sensing server may consider merging / combining all potential measurement reports from multiple sensing devices (e.g. to reduce redundancies in reporting) . One global ID for sensing may be matched with multiple local IDs. The sensing server may manage the matched relationship for global IDs and local IDs. Through local and global databases, the sensing device can report a list of operations linked to specific targets. For example, sensing information elements can include:

[0053] FIG. 3 illustrates an example implementation of tracking and managing sensing targets. Based on the report with the operation list, the sensing information report can be simplified. To support the sensing device report as an operation list, the sensing server may include hyperparameters. As a result, the sensing server may provide hyperparameters such as a threshold defining the boundary for adding or modifying the sensing target, the number defining the maximum times the sensing server can lose measurement without deleting the target, or a threshold defining the tolerable range for sustaining measurement. The hyperparameters can be provided in assistance data configured by the sensing server.

[0054] Example 1b

[0055] History information coupled with a time sequence relationship can used in sensing report messages. The spatial relationship may be not utilized fully for the report. Sensing information from the sensing device to the sensing server can include a position or location information that can include at least one of delay, distance, angle of arrival (AOA) , angle of departure (AOD) , ZOA, and / or ZOD. Sensing information from the sensing device to the sensing server can include Micro-Doppler information and Doppler / location information comprising at least one of Doppler frequency shift, and / or velocity.

[0056] Each of parameters can be one dimension of the sensing information, and in each same dimension, the measurement result with a close distance to the dimension can be combined to one group. Iteratively, sensing measurement data A and sensing measurement data B can be combined at dimension 1 (e.g., parameter type 1) , and then combined at dimension 2 (e.g., parameter type 2) . The turns of combination can be more than one. For example, the combination report of sensing information structure can be as follows:

[0057] There are four measurement results, and each result has four dimensions (parameter 1, 2, 3, 4) . The four measurement results are {1a, 2a, 3a, 4a} , {1a, 2a, 3b, 4a} , {1a, 2b, 3c, 4b} ,  {1a, 2b, 3c, 4c} in which, for example, “1a” are denoted as value 1a on dimension 1. After grouped iteratively, the combined report of these four sensing measurement results can be described as follows:

[0058] The whole combined report can be reported by the sensing device to sensing server to provide the sensing information of four measurement result.

[0059] In another example, the combined group can be used with measurement instance mentioned in Example 1. A few measurement instances can be grouped by the sensing device locally to report messages of “adding, modifying, maintaining, deleting and others” . The sensing device can report adding messages to the sensing server. The four new sensing measurements can be as follows

[0060] {local ID1, 1a, 2a, 3a, 4a} , {local ID2, 1a, 2a, 3b, 4a} , {local ID3, 1a, 2b, 3c, 4b} , {local ID4, 1a, 2b, 3c, 4c} ,

[0061] In which the local ID is denoted as the local ID for specific sensing target mentioned in Embodiment#1. The structure of whole reported adding message can be like the following:

[0062] For a modifying message, if sensing device wants to report the modifying message to the sensing server regarding / / about existing measurement instances which have local IDs of {local ID1, local ID 2} , the modifying value of measurement instances can be

[0063] {local ID 1, 2a, 3a, 4c} , {local ID 2, 2a, 3a, 4b}

[0064] For local ID1, parameter 1 may be not changed, parameter 2 value may be changed to value 2a, parameter 3 value may be changed to value 3a, and parameter 4 value may be changed to value 4c. For target ID2, parameter 1 may not changed, and parameter 2 value may be changed to value 2a, parameter 3 value may be changed to value 3a, parameter 4 value may be changed to value 4b. Thus, the structure of combined modifying message should be as following.

[0065] The message for maintaining and deleting can be same as or similar to that disclosed in Example 1.

[0066] One local ID can be extended for multiple local IDs of different levels of groups. Each group can include a group ID, and all group IDs with a local ID can identify one sensing target together. Thus, for reporting adding message as mentioned, the structure of the reporting message with group IDs may include

[0067] Thus, the sensing device can report messages with different granularity or levels of group or smallest local ID. For example, the sensing device can report modifying parameter 2 of measurement results of local ID 1 and local ID 2 by reporting based on group ID B information. The structure of modification can be

[0068] A modifying message may need (or be configured to) to quote the group IDs information (Group ID A, Group ID B) to update parameters together. For maintaining and deleting messages, the sensing device can report maintaining with / using different levels of groups,

[0069] The above message can be used to maintain or delete all measurement instances in Group B from Group A.

[0071] FIG. 4 illustrates an example implementation of resource optimization in tracking and managing sensing targets using historical data comparison. When a periodic measurement can be configured by the sensing server, the sensing device may need to execute measurements periodically without relaxation, even when the sensing target keeps static. To save power for the sensing device, a method for relaxing sensing reference signal resource can be considered. Based on Example 1, what matters can be the difference between current measurement and history record. The ambiguity of the absolute measurement result of time and Doppler domain can be tolerant when the difference of measurement can be distinguished. For tracking one target (after adding local measurement instance and modifying local measurement instance constantly) , the resources used to measure difference information can be sparser in time and Doppler domain than the resources used for adding new measurement instances at first. Coupling the relationship between signal resources can be done for sensing in sequence, without reducing the QoS for sensing. For example, one signal resource can be used for adding one measurement, which can occupy bandwidth B and time T. The signal can be sparse, and its period on frequency domain can be Δfcomb, 1, and period on time / symbol domain can be Tr, 1, which can means thatdistance measurement resolution can be the maximum unambiguous distance can be the Doppler measurement resolution can be and the maximum unambiguous Doppler can be

[0072] After adding the measurement instance, a sparser signal resource can be used for modifying the recorded measurement. The signal can keep a same bandwidth and time length, while the period on the frequency domain can be enlarged to Δfcomb, 2 and the period on the time domain can be enlarged to Tr, 2, which can mean that the resolution can be kept unchanged and the maximum unambiguous distance can be reduced from to The original measurement may be warped to several possible values, and the absolute value can be lost. Warped ambiguous values may not affect difference measurement. The sensing server can calculate the warped history value based on Δfcomb, 2, Tr, 2, Δfcomb, 1 and Tr, 1, and the difference between warped history value and warped current measurement value can be the same as the difference between the unwarped values.

[0073] Issue 1

[0074] Some signal resources, with different features in different frequency layers defined in TS37.355, may be matched by the sensing server and configured to the sensing devices. The signal resources can consist of a set (can be referred to as relaxation set) . The sensing server can configure the relaxation set to provide assistance data. The sensing device can select different resources in sequence for one sensing target in a different statement.

[0075] For configuration of the relaxation set, the sensing server can add some IEs used for matching different resources from different resource sets or different frequency layers as follows.

[0076] To combine multiple resources from different frequency layers, an IE-illustrating relaxation set can be configured to the sensing device. Each relaxation set can have a sequence of signal resources. Each resource can come from a different frequency layer or different resource set. In one relaxation set, there can be multiple relaxation resources with different delayRelaxLevels and / or different DopplerRelaxLevels. Configured by the relaxation set, the sensing devices can be permitted to select appropriate relaxation resources for transmitting and receiving. In one relaxation resource, the sensing device may not need to wait for one frequency layer measurement to be finished / completed and can be permitted to switch to relaxationSource in RelaxationSet directly. The switch operation may be unnoticed by the sensing server.

[0077] In another example, the relaxation resources in one RelaxationSet may come from a different resource set in one frequency layer, thus the positioning frequency layer may not be contained in elements of the relaxation resource as follows.

[0078] DelayRelaxLevel and DopplerRelaxLevel messages can be used to indicate the degree of sparsity of the relaxation resource to help / aide the sensing device select appropriate resources. The DelayRelaxLevel and DopplerRelaxLevel may not be provided explicitly and may be omitted as follows.

[0079] The relaxation resource may include but is not limited to a sensing device configured with a local sensing database and reporting as operations. For original sensing devices without local sensing databases, the relaxation resources can be configured.

[0080] After being configured with the relaxation set, the sensing device (e.g., transmitters and receivers) can select the relaxation resource in the Relaxation Resource Set to execute the sensing task. For mono-static sensing mode, the strategy to select resources can be made by the sensing device itself and can be recommended by the sensing server. There can be at least six example / possible ways to switch relaxation resources on mono-static sensing mode:

[0081] Option 1: According to historical measurements, the sensing server can decide to configure sensing resources to replace the current sensing resources. Each configured resource can replace the current resource in the same relaxation set.

[0082] Option 2: According to historical measurements, the sensing server can decide to configure new sensing resources to replace current sensing resources directly. The relaxation set may not be required.

[0083] Option 3: According to historical measurement records, the sensing server can provide some historical measurements or parameters estimated results to the sensing device. The sensing device can select appropriate resources and request the resources to replace current sensing resources for the sensing server. The sensing server can provide reference resources considering capability and other factors. The relaxation set may not be required.

[0084] Option 4: According to historical measurements records, the sensing server can provide some historical measurements or parameters estimated results to the sensing devices. The sensing devices can select  appropriate resources to replace some resource in the same relaxation sets. The sensing devices configured with the relaxation set can have permission to switch the relaxation resource directly to execute sensing task.

[0085] Option 5: The sensing devices can request some sensing resources to replace the current sensing resources for the sensing server. The sensing server can provide reference resources considering the capability and / or other factors. The relaxation set may be not required.

[0086] Option 6: According to local historical measurements records, the sensing devices can select appropriate resources to replace some resource in the same relaxation sets. The sensing devices configured with relaxation set can have permission to switch relaxation resources directly to execute sensing tasks.

[0087] For bi-static sensing mode, there can be some following options to switch resources. For example, there may be sensing devices A and sensing devices B; sensing devices B can control some sensing measurement results and decide whether to switch sensing reference signal resources.

[0088] Option 1: According to some historical measurements, the sensing server can decide to configure sensing resources to replace the current sensing resources for the sensing devices. Each configured resource can replace the current resource in the same relaxation set.

[0089] Option 2: According to some historical measurements, the sensing server can decide to configure new sensing resources to replace current sensing resources of the sensing devices. The relaxation set may not be required.

[0090] Option 3: According to some historical measurements records, the sensing server can provide some historical measurements or parameters estimated results to sensing devices B. The sensing devices B can select appropriate resources and request these resources to replace current sensing resources for the sensing server. The sensing server can provide reference resource configuration to sensing devices considering capability and other factors. The relaxation set may be not required.

[0091] Option 4: The sensing devices B can request sensing resources to replace current sensing resources for the sensing server. The sensing server can provide reference resources to the sensing devices considering capability and other factors. The relaxation set may not be required.

[0092] The above options can use the sensing server to manage relaxation resources. Due to the sensing server being a core net function unit, the real-time performance of above options can be uncertain. The following options for different four sensing modes can be considered.

[0093] Option 5: For a base station transmitting and UE receiving sensing mode, the UE can select appropriate resources to replace some resource in the same relaxation sets configured in advance. The UE can send notice to the base station through physical layer uplink channel and signaling, and the base station can switch to the transmitting sensing resources noted by the UE. The base station may consider its capabilities and other factors and respond to UE whether base station decides to switch sensing resources.

[0094] Option 6: For a UE transmitting and base station receiving sensing mode, the base station can select appropriate resources to replace some resource in the same relaxation sets configured in advance. The base station can send notice to the UE through physical layer down link channel and signaling, and the UE can  switch to the transmitting sensing resources noted by the base station. The UE may consider its capabilities and other factors and can respond to the base station on whether the base station can switch sensing resources.

[0095] Option 7: For a UE A transmitting and UE B receiving sensing mode, UE B can select appropriate resources to replace some resource in the same relaxation sets configured in advance. UE B can send notice to UE A through physical layer sidelink channel and signaling, and UE A can switch to the transmitting sensing resources noted by UE B. UE A may consider its capabilities and other factors and can respond to UE B on whether the UE B can switch sensing resources.

[0096] Option 8: For base station A transmitting and base station B receiving sensing mode, base station B can select appropriate resources to replace some resource in the same relaxation sets configured in advance. Base station B can send notice to base station A through channel and signaling between base stations, and base station A can switch to the transmitting sensing resources noted by base station B. Base station A may consider its capabilities and other factors and can respond to base station B whether base station B can switch sensing resources.

[0097] Example 3

[0098] Based on Example 2, the sensing device can be permitted to execute sensing tasks with sparser resources, which can save wireless resources and power especially when tracking some sensing targets after initializing target statements. The estimation accuracy of distance and Doppler may not be affected. The sparser resources can cause the sensing device to be insensitive to mobility of sensing targets, and the sensing device cannot correctly use a resource with higher density when the sensing target begins to move fast. A method can be implemented, in which the sensing server can configure a few sensing devices as monitor nodes in a sensing network. The monitor nodes can sense with resources to monitor whether the statements of sensing targets can change fast. After detecting strong mobility of the sensing target, the monitor sensing device can report measurements to the sensing server or other sensing devices directly to help other sensing devices to switch resources at appropriate time points.

[0099] FIG. 5 illustrates an example implementation of monitor nodes configured to track sensing targets using different reference signal resources. For monitoring the sensing targets, the sensing reference signal resources configured to the monitor node may be high time density. In addition to configuring high time density reference signal resources directly, two options for monitoring can be proposed.

[0100] Option 1: Some different sensing reference signal resources can be linked together. The sensing server can configure the monitor node with linked reference signal resources. The linked sensing reference signal resources having different properties can be transmitting together by the monitoring node to enhance the capability to observe mobility at a short time.

[0101] Option 2: A special reference signal can be configured. The special reference signal can contain a special pattern, which has a waveform pattern with a small number of sub-carriers and a large number of symbols concatenated with original sensing reference signal waveform pattern. The sensing server can configure the monitor node with these special reference signal resources.

[0102] FIG. 6 illustrates a block diagram of data and resource exchange between sensing devices in a sensing network system. There can be at least two different cases for monitoring report measurement and triggering other sensing devices switching sensing reference signal resources. In the first case, the monitor node can report the sensing server first, and the sensing server triggers sensing devices to switch sensing reference signal resources. In the second case, the monitor node can trigger other sensing devices directly. There can be the following options for monitor node triggering.

[0103] Option 1: The monitor node can send reports to other sensing devices which can sense some common targets through physical downlink / uplink / sidelink or Xn channels. The monitor node and devices B can manage reference signal resources request the sensing server to switch resources. The sensing server responses to provide reference signal resources to all sensing devices. FIG. 7 illustrates a block diagram of data and resource exchange between sensing devices in a sensing network system.

[0104] Option 2: The monitor node sends reports to other sensing devices which can sense some common targets through physical downlink / uplink / sidelink or Xn channels. In the other sensing devices, devices B managing reference signal resources decide to switch relaxation resources to replace resources in the same relaxation sets and sending notice to other sensing devices to switch relaxation resources through physical downlink / uplink / sidelink or Xn channels directly. FIG. 8 illustrates a block diagram of data and resource exchange between sensing devices in a sensing network system.

[0105] Example 4

[0106] For the sensing task, a traditional sensing report containing an estimated result may be dissatisfactory for complex sensing task. The whole spectrum containing all measurement value can be proposed to be reported to the sensing server. The spectrum contains a lot of measurement results and related indexes from one or more dimensions which can be a combination of some of the following domains: time, frequency, delay, distance, velocity, Doppler frequency, Doppler frequency shift, antenna, port, angular of arrival, angular of departure, zenith of arrival, zenith of departure.

[0107] The measurement results attached to each index may be the original measurement value, or some processed value based on observation. In each dimension of the spectrum, the minimum and maximum index and the granularity of the index can be provided by the sensing server, or some of these parameters can be set in advance. The measurement value can contain the following kinds of value (real value, absolute value, complex value) . The minimum and maximum measurement value (the range of the value) and the quantized granularity of measurement value can be provided from the sensing server, or some of these parameters can be set in advance. If the range of measurement values can be provided, the values out of the range may not be reported. The sensing server can also request the sensing device to begin report spectrum, and each spectrum measurement information provided by the sensing device can be attached to reference resources, reference resource sets, or frequency layers.

[0108] The spectrum information may be compressed / fomatted into a report. Some sensing devices may compress the spectrum into a bit string with some algorithm. The sensing server can configure the sensing device to compress spectrum reporting and provide some hyperparameters.

[0109] In the other way, the difference in spectrums can be configured into a report to reduce the size of reporting messages. One reference spectrum may be configured by the sensing server for some reference resources, and what can be reported can be the difference in spectrum between the spectrum from these resources and the reference spectrum. The reference spectrum may also be appointed by the sensing device itself, such as the last measured spectrum from the same reference resources, and all difference spectrums between the current spectrum and the last spectrum from the same reference resources can be reported. In a normal scenario, almost all values in these difference spectrums can be small, and the number of values in the range of configured minimum and maximum values can be relatively small. The difference spectrum may also be configured to be reported as a bit string after compression.

[0110] In some sensing cases, the spectrum and the measurement instances can be combined to be reported. Estimation results in each measurement instance can be related to one estimated point in the spectrum. A small spectrum around this estimated point may contain important micro-Doppler shift information. Each measurement instance can contain a neighborhood spectrum, which is:

[0111] The sensing server can configure the window size and granularity of the spectrum, the minimum value, the maximum value, and / or the quantized granularity of the measurement value for the sensing device. Thus, the reported spectrum can be a list / vector / matrix / tensor with the specified size.

[0112] The difference in sensing results can also be considered, which can be shown as follows:

[0113] The sensingResult and sensingResultDiff here can be used for Example 1.

[0114] FIG. 9 illustrates a flow diagram of an example method for determining a sensing configuration (e.g., using history record assisted sensing) . The method 900 may be implemented using any one or more of the components and devices detailed herein in conjunction with FIGS. 1 to 8.

[0115] With regards to (905) , and in some embodiments, the method can include determining, by a sensing device, measurement history information acquired in an integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) system. The sensing device may for instance perform sensing and / or measurements pertaining to one or more targets. The sensing device may collect, process and / or store measurements into measurement history information.

[0116] With regards to (910) , and in some embodiments, the method can include determining, by the sensing device, a sensing configuration according to the measurement history information. The sensing device can determine (e.g., receive or establish) a sensing configuration for reporting or updating one or more sets of sensing information, according to the measurement history information. The sensing device can manage (e.g., structure, format, organize, establish) the one or more sets of sensing signal information, according to the measurement history information. For example, the sensing device can establish / update a database of sensing signal information, according to the measurement history information.

[0117] In determining the sensing configuration, the sensing device can determine one or more operations to execute, using (or according to) the measurement history information. For instance, the sensing device can determine to add a measurement instance to the database with a new local identifier (ID) , when the measurement history indicates that the measurement instance pertains to a new target. In some embodiments, the sensing device can determine at least one of: adding of a measurement instance with a new local identifier (ID) and at least one of: ID information from a sensing receiver or ID information from a sensing transmitter, when the measurement history information indicates that the measurement instance pertains to a new target; adding of a delta entry relative to a measurement instance, when the measurement history information indicates a change relative to the measurement instance, wherein the delta entry has a local ID that is same as that of the  measurement instance and at least one of: the ID information from the sensing receiver or the ID information from the sensing transmitter; maintaining of a measurement instance, when the measurement history information indicates no change relative to the measurement instance, wherein a message for reporting the maintaining has a local ID that is same as that of the measurement instance, and at least one of: the ID information from the sensing receiver or the ID information from the sensing transmitter; or removing of a measurement instance of a target, when the measurement history information indicates absence of the target over a threshold duration, wherein a message for the removing has a local ID that is same as that of measurement instance, and at least one of: the ID information from the sensing receiver or the ID information from the sensing transmitter.

[0118] In some implementations, the identifier information of the sensing receiver or the transmitter comprises at least one of: device ID information of a transmission-reception point, the sensing receiver or the sensing transmitter; physical cell identifier (PCI) information of the sensing receiver or the sensing transmitter; globally unique identity information of a cell of the sensing receiver or the sensing transmitter; or ID information of a reference signal, comprising at least one of: ID information of a resource of the reference signal, or ID information of a resource set of the reference signal.

[0119] In some embodiments, the local ID is unique to a corresponding target. The measurement instance can comprise an indication of at least one of: a local ID, time information, or measurement information. The measurement information can comprise at least one of: position information comprising an indication of at least one of delay, distance, angle of arrival (AOA) , angle of departure (AOD) , zenith of arrival (ZOA) , or zenith of departure (ZOD) ; Doppler information comprising an indication of at least one of Doppler frequency, or velocity; or micro Doppler information.

[0120] In some implementations, the sending device sends, in response to executing the operation, a measurement report to a sensing server to update a global database. The sensing service may be caused to: add a measurement instance to the global database with a new global identifier (ID) , when the measurement report indicates that the measurement instance pertains to a new target; add a delta entry to the global database relative to a measurement instance, when the measurement report indicates a change relative to the measurement instance, wherein the delta entry has a global ID that is same as that of the measurement instance; maintain a measurement instance in the global database, when the measurement report indicates no change relative to the measurement instance; or remove a measurement instance of a target from the global database, when the measurement history indicates absence of the target over a threshold duration.

[0121] In some implementations, the global ID is mapped to one or more local IDs of different sensing devices. The measurement report can comprise at least one type of report determined by the sensing device, to cause the sensing server to execute at least one corresponding operation. The sensing device may receive assistance information from a sensing server. The assistance information may include at least one of: a threshold (e.g., threshold time duration, or a threshold number of times of missed measurements, before a target is deleted) for triggering a report of the adding by the sensing device; a threshold for triggering a report of the modifying by the sensing device; a threshold for triggering a report of the maintaining by the sensing device; or a threshold for triggering a report of the removing by the sensing device.

[0122] In some embodiments, the sensing device (e.g., In a mono-static or bistatic configuration) updates, according to the measurement history, a set of resources for relaxing an extent of sensing measurements. The sensing device may obtain, according to the updated set of resources, a first measurement at a first time instance, and a second measurement at a second time instance, on a target. The sensing device may determine a value difference between the first measurement and the second measurement. The sensing device may perform tracking of the target using the value difference.

[0123] The sensing device may receive from a sensing server, assistance information comprising a plurality of candidate resource sets. The sensing device may select the resources for relaxing the extent of measurements, from the plurality of candidate resource sets. The sensing device may switch / change / transition from the selected resources to another set of resources, prior to or after completion of a frequency layer measurement.

[0124] In some implementations, the assistance information includes a relaxationSet information element (IE) . The relaxationSet IE can include an indication of the plurality of candidate resource sets. The plurality of candidate resource sets can be from a frequency layer, so that the frequency layer is not indicated in the relaxationSet IE.

[0125] In some implementations, updating the set of resources for relaxing an extent of sensing measurements comprise one of: a user equipment selecting a first set of resources, and signaling to a base station the selected first set of resources, to cause the base station to switch to the selected first set of resources to transmit or receive a sensing reference signal; a base station selecting a first set of resources, and signaling to a user equipment the selected first set of resources, to cause the user equipment to switch to the selected first set of resources to transmit or receive a sensing reference signal; a first user equipment selecting a first set of resources, and signaling to a second user equipment the selected first set of resources, to cause the second user equipment to switch to the selected first set of resources to transmit or receive a sensing reference signal; a first base station selecting a first set of resources, and signaling to a second base station the selected first set of resources, to cause the second base station to switch to the selected first set of resources to transmit or receive a sensing reference signal; a first user equipment selecting a first set of resources, to cause the first user equipment to switch to the selected first set of resources to transmit and receive a sensing reference signal; or a first base station selecting a first set of resources, to cause the first base station to switch to the selected first set of resources to transmit and receive a sensing reference signal.

[0126] In some embodiments, the sensing device (e.g., monitoring node) determines, according to the measurement history indicating greater mobility of a target, to use a first set of resources for enhancing an extent of sensing measurements, by at least one of: linking two sets of resources to form the first set of resources, configured by a sensing server or the sensing device; receiving a configuration of the first set of resources from the sensing server; or selecting a configuration of the first set of resources by the sensing device.

[0127] The sensing device may send / report to a sensing server, the measurement history information indicating greater mobility of a target. The sensing device may inform one or more sensing devices to use a first set of resources for enhancing an extent of sensing measurements. In certain embodiments, the sensing device reports / sends to one or more sensing devices, the measurement history information indicating greater mobility  of a target. The one or more sensing devices may request a sensing server to allocate or provide a first set of resources for enhancing an extent of sensing measurements. The one or more sensing devices may determine to use a first set of resources for enhancing an extent of sensing measurements.

[0128] The sensing device may send to a sensing server a report of sensing information that comprises a spectrum of measurement values for at least one of: position information comprising an indication of at least one of delay, distance, angle of arrival (AOA) , angle of departure (AOD) , zenith of arrival (ZOA) , or zenith of departure (ZOD) ; Doppler information comprising an indication of at least one of Doppler frequency, or velocity; or micro Doppler information. In some embodiments, the measurement values are values as measured, or as processed according to one or more defined parameters, ranges or thresholds. The measurements values may be compressed prior to sending to the sensing server, according to one or more configured parameters. The measurements values may be value differences between reference values and values as measured. The report of sending information may comprise the spectrum of measurement values, and a measurement instance.

[0129] In some implementations, the spectrum represents a neighborhood of the measurement instance. The spectrum may comprise value differences relative to a reference spectrum. The spectrum of measurement values can be limited by a configuration of at least one of: window size, granularity, minimum value, maximum value, or specified size.

[0130] In some embodiments, the sensing device may determine to add, modify, maintain or remove a plurality of measurement instances each comprising respective values for a hierarchy of parameters. The sensing device may combine the plurality of measurements instances into a combined measurement instance structured according to the hierarchy, wherein in traversing down the hierarchy, for each parameter in the hierarchy, same values or operations (e.g., remove or maintain measurement instance) for the respective parameter are listed once as one branch in the hierarchy, while different values or operations are listed individually forming separate branches in the hierarchy. The sensing device may send to the sensing server a report of the add, modify, maintain or remove, using the combined measurement instance. At leaf nodes of branches in the hierarchy, each of the leaf nodes may comprise: (i) a respective value of a respective parameter, and (ii) an identifier (e.g., local ID) of a corresponding one of the plurality of measurement instances.

[0131] In some implementations, combining the plurality of measurements instances into a combined measurement instance comprises: determining to group a subset of the plurality of measurements instances into a group; and / or assigning a group ID to the group. In traversing down the hierarchy, for each parameter in the hierarchy, same values or operations for the respective parameter associated with the group may be listed once as one branch in the hierarchy, together with the group ID.

[0132] In certain implementations, the plurality of parameters comprises at least one of: one or more parameters of position information, one or more parameters of Doppler information, or one or more parameters of micro Doppler information. The one or more parameters of position information may comprise at least one of delay, distance, angle of arrival (AOA) , angle of departure (AOD) , zenith of arrival (ZOA) , or zenith of departure (ZOD) . The one or more parameters of Doppler information may comprise at least one of Doppler frequency or velocity.

[0133] While various embodiments of the present solution have been described above, it should be understood that they have been presented by way of example only, and not by way of limitation. Likewise, the various diagrams may depict an example architectural or configuration, which are provided to enable persons of ordinary skill in the art to understand example features and functions of the present solution. Such persons would understand, however, that the solution is not restricted to the illustrated example architectures or configurations, but can be implemented using a variety of alternative architectures and configurations. Additionally, as would be understood by persons of ordinary skill in the art, one or more features of one embodiment can be combined with one or more features of another embodiment described herein. Thus, the breadth and scope of the present disclosure should not be limited by any of the above-described illustrative embodiments.

[0134] It is also understood that any reference to an element herein using a designation such as "first, " "second, " and so forth does not generally limit the quantity or order of those elements. Rather, these designations can be used herein as a convenient means of distinguishing between two or more elements or instances of an element. Thus, a reference to first and second elements does not mean that only two elements can be employed, or that the first element must precede the second element in some manner.

[0135] Additionally, a person having ordinary skill in the art would understand that information and signals can be represented using any of a variety of different technologies and techniques. For example, data, instructions, commands, information, signals, bits and symbols, for example, which may be referenced in the above description can be represented by voltages, currents, electromagnetic waves, magnetic fields or particles, optical fields or particles, or any combination thereof.

[0136] A person of ordinary skill in the art would further appreciate that any of the various illustrative logical blocks, modules, processors, means, circuits, methods and functions described in connection with the aspects disclosed herein can be implemented by electronic hardware (e.g., a digital implementation, an analog implementation, or a combination of the two) , firmware, various forms of program or design code incorporating instructions (which can be referred to herein, for convenience, as "software" or a "software module) , or any combination of these techniques. To clearly illustrate this interchangeability of hardware, firmware and software, various illustrative components, blocks, modules, circuits, and steps have been described above generally in terms of their functionality. Whether such functionality is implemented as hardware, firmware or software, or a combination of these techniques, depends upon the particular application and design constraints imposed on the overall system. Skilled artisans can implement the described functionality in various ways for each particular application, but such implementation decisions do not cause a departure from the scope of the present disclosure.

[0137] Furthermore, a person of ordinary skill in the art would understand that various illustrative logical blocks, modules, devices, components and circuits described herein can be implemented within or performed by an integrated circuit (IC) that can include a general purpose processor, a digital signal processor (DSP) , an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) , a field programmable gate array (FPGA) or other programmable logic device, or any combination thereof. The logical blocks, modules, and circuits can further include antennas and / or transceivers to communicate with various components within the network or within the device. A general purpose processor can be a microprocessor, but in the alternative, the processor can be any  conventional processor, controller, or state machine. A processor can also be implemented as a combination of computing devices, e.g., a combination of a DSP and a microprocessor, a plurality of microprocessors, one or more microprocessors in conjunction with a DSP core, or any other suitable configuration to perform the functions described herein.

[0138] If implemented in software, the functions can be stored as one or more instructions or code on a computer-readable medium. Thus, the steps of a method or algorithm disclosed herein can be implemented as software stored on a computer-readable medium. Computer-readable media includes both computer storage media and communication media including any medium that can be enabled to transfer a computer program or code from one place to another. A storage media can be any available media that can be accessed by a computer. By way of example, and not limitation, such computer-readable media can include RAM, ROM, EEPROM, CD-ROM or other optical disk storage, magnetic disk storage or other magnetic storage devices, or any other medium that can be used to store desired program code in the form of instructions or data structures and that can be accessed by a computer.

[0139] In this document, the term "module" as used herein, refers to software, firmware, hardware, and any combination of these elements for performing the associated functions described herein. Additionally, for purpose of discussion, the various modules are described as discrete modules; however, as would be apparent to one of ordinary skill in the art, two or more modules may be combined to form a single module that performs the associated functions according to embodiments of the present solution.

[0140] Additionally, memory or other storage, as well as communication components, may be employed in embodiments of the present solution. It will be appreciated that, for clarity purposes, the above description has described embodiments of the present solution with reference to different functional units and processors. However, it will be apparent that any suitable distribution of functionality between different functional units, processing logic elements or domains may be used without detracting from the present solution. For example, functionality illustrated to be performed by separate processing logic elements, or controllers, may be performed by the same processing logic element, or controller. Hence, references to specific functional units are only references to a suitable means for providing the described functionality, rather than indicative of a strict logical or physical structure or organization.
