Abstract
Description
[0001] A ROBOT MOWER SUPPORT DEVICE AND METHOD FOR REPLACING PARTS OF A
[0002] ROBOT MOWER
[0003] The invention relates to a robot mower support device, to a maintenance assembly for robot mowers as well as to a method for supporting a robot mower above a ground surface and to a method for replacing parts of a robot mower.
[0004] The use of robot mowers, in particular robot mowers for consumers, small businesses and associations, such as sport clubs, has strongly increased over the past years. One of the most appealing features of robot mowers to consumers is the ease-of-use. After installing and, in some cases, a learning period, the robot mower will operate virtually independently. In order to cut grass or similar (small) shrubs, the robot mower is provided with a cutting device. The cutting device often comprises one or more (cutting) blades or knives. During use, these blades will become dull, thus requiring periodic replacement. In general, such periodic replacement is required every four to eight weeks.
[0005] Since the blades are positioned on a lower side of the robot mower housing (in order to be able to cut the grass and / or shrubs), the robot mower needs to be lifted to gain access to the blades.
[0006] In practice, it was found that this lifting action is time-consuming and cumbersome. This is especially true due to the fact that robot mowers have a weight that ranges from several kilograms up to, and even over, eighteen kilograms. This makes blade replacement a cumbersome and difficult task.
[0007] The present invention is aimed at obviating or at least reducing the aforementioned problems and is in particular aimed at providing a device that makes it easier to perform maintenance on robot mowers.
[0008] To that end, the invention provides a robot mower support device that is configured for supporting a robot mower, the robot mower support device comprising: a frame comprising:
[0009] ~ a first frame part; and
[0010] ~ a second frame part that is operatively connected to the first frame part; wherein the first frame part and the second frame part are rotatable and / or tiltable relative to each other; a holding device that is configured to releasably fixate a robot mower in the support device, wherein the holding device is operatively connected to one of the first frame part or the second frame part; and wherein the frame is moveable between a pickup position and a maintenance position, wherein, in the maintenance position, the first frame part and the second frame part are rotated and / or tilted relative to each other. An advantage of the robot mower support device according to the invention is that the robot mower, in the maintenance position, is turned upside down relative to its position in the pickup position. In other words, the robot mower is turned upside down (relative to its working position), which results in an easy access to the cutting blades positioned on the lower end of the robot mower housing.
[0011] Another advantage of the robot mower support device according to the invention is that, due to the presence of a tilting or rotating movement, the robot mower can be moved to the maintenance position without requiring much force. This is especially relevant for elderly people or people with little physical strength.
[0012] A further advantage is that bringing the device according to the invention to the maintenance position device in some embodiments not only includes a rotation of the robot mower, but also a movement that raises the robot mower with respect to a ground surface. This increases ease of access to the robot mower even further.
[0013] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the support device is configured to, in the maintenance position, provide the robot mower in an upside down position relative to its position in the pickup position.
[0014] An advantage of the support device is that the robot mower is, during transfer from the pickup position to the maintenance position, turned upside down. In other words, the blades that upon pick-up position are facing towards the ground surface, over during movement to the maintenance position overturned and end up facing upwards (away from the ground surface). This allows easy access to the blades to remove and replace them.
[0015] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the support device is configured to, during movement from the pickup position to the maintenance position (and vice versa), rotate the robot mower from a working position, in which the blades are directed towards the ground surface, to a maintenance position in which the blades are directed upwards relative to the ground surface.
[0016] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the first end of the first frame part and the primary end of the second frame part are rotatable and / or tiltable relative to each other over an angle a in the range of 70° to 140°, preferably in the range of 125° to 80°, more preferably in the range of 90° to 120°, and most preferably about 110°.
[0017] It is preferred that the angle of relative rotation is chosen such that the secondary end of the second frame part can be positioned on the ground. This allows the support device to stay positioned in the maintenance position during maintenance of the robot mower. The angle of relative rotation is chosen such that the lower end of the robot mower, and in particular the blades thereof, is pointing upwards when in the maintenance position such that the blades are easily accessible. In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the first end of the first frame part is rotatable in a first rotation direction over a predetermined angle y relative to a vertical axis that extends substantially perpendicular to the ground surface, wherein the predetermined angle is in the range of 20° to 60°, preferably in the range of 30° to 50° and more preferably about 35°.
[0018] The abovementioned ranges of angle y, in particular combined with the range of the angle P as mentioned below, result in the robot mower blades being point upwards when the robot mower is in the maintenance position. As a result, the blades are easily accessible for replacement and / or maintenance.
[0019] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the primary end of the second frame part is rotatable in a first rotation direction over a predetermined angle relative to a vertical axis that extends substantially perpendicular to the ground surface, wherein the predetermined angle is in the range of 120° to 160°, preferably in the range of 130° to 150° and more preferably about 140°.
[0020] The abovementioned ranges of angle P, in particular combined with the range of the angle y as mentioned above, result in the robot mower blades being point upwards when the robot mower is in the maintenance position. As a result, the blades are easily accessible for replacement and / or maintenance.
[0021] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the first frame part may comprise a U-shaped or rectangular frame that extends over a predetermined length from a first frame end towards a second frame end.
[0022] An advantage of a U-shaped or rectangular frame is that it is robust and provides a high strength to the device. This allows various types of robot mowers, including those of eighteen kilograms or more, to be supported by the device.
[0023] Another advantage is that the U-shaped or rectangular frame also provides a large leverage for tilting and / or rotating movement to allow the device to be transferred from the pickup position to the maintenance position and vice versa.
[0024] An even further advantage is that a U-shaped or rectangular frame is relatively easy to manufacture.
[0025] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the first frame part, in the pick-up position, extends substantially perpendicular to a ground or support surface upon which the robot mower support device is positioned.
[0026] The first frame part preferably extends perpendicularly (i.e. upwardly from) a ground surface in the pickup position. This allows the device to be easily stored, since it is compact and has a small footprint. In addition, it allows the device to be easily moved towards a robot mower that needs to be picked up by the device. It is noted that substantially perpendicular in this respect means having an angle (between the ground surface and the first frame part) in the range of 50° and 90°.
[0027] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the first frame part may further comprise a handle that is connected at or to the second end.
[0028] An advantage of providing a handle is that the device according to the invention can easily be transported between various locations. Preferably, the handle is shaped such that it, in the maintenance position of the device, is placeable on a ground surface to support the first frame part in said maintenance position.
[0029] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the handle may comprise a U-shaped handle that extends perpendicularly from the second end or may comprise two curved handles, wherein each curved handle is connected to a longitudinal side of the first frame part.
[0030] An advantage of the abovementioned shaped is that the handle, in the maintenance position of the device, is placeable on a ground surface to support the first frame part in said maintenance position.
[0031] In this embodiment, the first frame part thus may comprise two U-shaped frames of which the open ends are connected to each other. One of the U-shaped frames then forms the handle, whereas the other may be used to support or operatively connect the second frame part. The first frame part may also be provided as a U-shape having to legs to which handles are attached. In this case, each handle is a curved handle that is connected to an outer end of a leg of the U-shape (near the open end) and to a point on that leg. This means that the leg of the U-shaped first frame part and the handle both extend over a length in the same plane.
[0032] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the second frame part may be a substantially rectangular frame that extends over a predetermined length from a primary end towards a secondary end, and wherein the second frame part is rotatably or tiltably suspended in the first frame part.
[0033] An advantage of a rectangular frame is that it is robust and provides a high strength to the device. This allows various types of robot mowers, including those of eighteen kilograms or more, to be supported by the device. The rectangular construction in particular prevents twisting or buckling of the second frame part which may damage the device and / or the robot mower (if any) held therein.
[0034] Another advantage is that the rectangular frame also provides a large leverage for tilting and / or rotating movement to allow the device to be transferred from the pickup position to the maintenance position and vice versa.
[0035] Furthermore, the advantage is provided that the rectangular frame is easy to manufacture. In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the first and the second frame part may, in the pickup position, extend substantially parallel to each other, and the first and the second frame part may, in the maintenance position, extend under an angle which each other.
[0036] It is preferred that (at least part of) the first frame part and the second frame part extend in a single plane when in the pickup position. An advantage thereof is that the device can easily be transported and stored without requiring a high amount of space. Another advantage is that the stability and strength of the device, especially in the pickup position, is high when the first and second frame parts extend (at least partially) parallel to each other.
[0037] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the first frame part and the second frame part may be connected to each other on the longitudinal sides thereof.
[0038] An advantage of connecting the longitudinal sides (in a rotatable or tiltable) manner is that the second frame part can be rotated or tilted within the first frame part without obstruction. It is preferred that the connection comprises an axis, such as a bolt, on each side of the frame. It is further preferred that the connection between the first and second frame parts is positioned at some distance of respectively the first end and the primary end (which are both positioned at the same side of the device).
[0039] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the second frame part may comprise a support bar that is rotatably connected to opposite longitudinal sides of the first frame part and that extends substantially parallel to the first frame end.
[0040] An advantage of a clamping support bar is that it provides a robust and reliable support on which the holding device may be positioned. Another advantage is that it provides a relatively simple and cost-effective construction. Moreover, an advantage is that the clamping support bar also provides additional stability to the first frame part to which it is connected.
[0041] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the support bar may be movably connected to the first frame part such that it is movable along the length of the first frame part, wherein the support bar preferably is configured to, during movement, remain substantially parallel to the first frame end.
[0042] An advantage of providing the clamping support bar as a moveable support bar is that the support height of a robot mower (when provided in the device) relative to a ground or support surface, can be adapted.
[0043] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the holding device may be connected to the second frame part and the holding device may be a clamping device configured to clamp the robot mower to the frame. It is preferred that the holding device is a clamping device in order to rigidly, or at least fixedly, maintain the robot mower in the device during the supporting thereof. This is especially relevant during the transfer between the pickup position and the maintenance position (and vice versa) to prevent the robot mower from dislodging.
[0044] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the clamping device may comprise: a bottom clamping support that is operatively connected to the primary end of the second frame part, a top clamping support that is operatively connected to the second frame part at a predetermined distance from the primary end, wherein the top clamping support and the bottom clamping support are moveable with respect to each other between an open position, in which a robot mower is insertable between the bottom clamping support and the top clamping support, and a closed position.
[0045] In this embodiment, the bottom clamping support is connected to the primary end, whereas the top clamping support is positioned (and connected) at a position that is more disposed towards the secondary end. This means that, in the open position, an opening is present in which the mower can be positioned, whereas the robot mower is (subsequently) clamped between the top clamping support and the bottom clamping support in the closed position.
[0046] An advantage of providing bottom and top clamping supports that are moveable relative to each other is that it allows the clamping force to be regulated by increasing or decreasing the distance between the bottom and top clamping supports. As such, a variable force can be applied to the robot mower. Another advantage is that, due the mentioned variable distance, robot mowers of different shapes and / or sizes can be provided to the clamping device.
[0047] In particular, it is noted that in this embodiment the bottom clamping support is configured to be positioned against a lower part of the robot mower, whereas the top support is configured to be positioned against an upper part of the robot mower. This allows the robot mower to be clamped between the bottom and top supports. It is noted that the lower part and the upper part of the robot mower are positioned on opposite sides of the robot mower, with the lower part preferably being the part at or near which the cutting tools of the mower are positioned.
[0048] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the top clamping support and / or the bottom clamping support may be provided with clamping pads, preferably clamping pads made of foam, rubber and / or another soft material.
[0049] An advantage of providing softer clamping pads is that damage, such as scratches or dents, to the robot mower are substantially prevented. The clamping pads are positioned on the side that, during use, is oriented towards the robot mower. In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the top clamping support is connected to a clamping support bar that extends substantially parallel to the primary end of the second support frame.
[0050] An advantage of a clamping support bar is that it is a robust and reliable support. Another advantage is that it provides a relatively simple and cost-effective construction.
[0051] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the clamping support bar is movable along a length direction of the second frame to move the top clamping support between the open and the closed position.
[0052] An advantage of providing the clamping support bar as a moveable bar is that it allows the top clamping support to be positioned against (and in clamping engagement with) a robot mower.
[0053] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the clamping support bar is fixedly connected to the second frame part and the top clamping support comprises a hingeable clamp, wherein the hingeable clamp is movable between the open position and the closed position.
[0054] An advantage of providing a hingeable clamp as top clamping support is that it can provide a predetermined clamping force on a robot mower in the device. Another advantage is that a hingeable clamp, especially when provided with a (relatively large) lever, provides a advantageous transmission. In other words, a small force applied to the clamp may result in a relatively high clamping force on the robot mower.
[0055] In an embodiment of the clamping device, the bottom clamping support comprises a support plate and / or the top support comprises a pressing or clamping plate.
[0056] An advantage of providing one or both of the bottom and top supports as plates is that this distributes the clamping force over a larger area, thus preventing damage to the robot mower. Another advantage of applying the clamping force to a larger area is that it increases the hold on the robot mower, thus preventing it from dislodging from the device. It is noted that one or both plates may be somewhat flexible plates and / or may be manufactured from a slightly flexible material, such as plastic, sheet metal or the like.
[0057] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the support plate is an angle support plate having a first plate section that extends substantially parallel to a longitudinal side of the second frame and a second plate section that extends under an angle with the first plate section. The angle is preferably in the range of 90° to 140°, and more preferably in the range of 90° to 125° and even more preferably in the range of 90° to 110°.
[0058] The bottom clamping support may be provided as a plate that extends with an angle. This allows the bottom clamping support to function as bottom part of the clamping device and simultaneously as a support to keep the device in an upright position when it is not used. This obviates the use of separate supports. In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the clamping device is a scissor-like clamping device.
[0059] An advantage of a scissor-like clamping device is that it provides a simple and effective clamping device. Furthermore, it can easily be connected to the frame.
[0060] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the scissor- like clamping device comprises a pair of clamps that is pivotable around a pivot point, and a pair of handles that, when viewed relative to the clamps, is positioned on an opposite side of the pivot, and wherein the pivot point preferably is positioned at or close to the support bar.
[0061] An advantage of the abovementioned clamping device is that the handles may be provided as foot pads or pressure pads that allow easy operation of the scissor-like clamping device without requiring an operator to use his hands. A further advantage is that only a single support bar is required upon which the entire clamping device can be provided. This increases ease of maintenance and simplifies replacement of the holding device if necessary.
[0062] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the robot mower support device may further comprise movement means, preferably wheels, rollers or sliders.
[0063] The movement means are preferably positioned near the first frame end of the first frame part and provide the advantage of even further increased ease of transport.
[0064] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the robot mower support device may be a robot mower maintenance support device that is configured to support a robot mower during maintenance.
[0065] The robot mower support device according to the invention is highly suitable to be used as a maintenance device for robot mowers, especially with regard to the replacement of cutting blades.
[0066] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the robot mower support device further may comprise a locking device that is configured to lock the device in the maintenance position.
[0067] An advantage of providing a locking device, which may be an additional locking device, is that the risk of dislodging of the robot mower is reduced even further.
[0068] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the robot mower support device may further comprise supports, preferably rubber supports, that are positioned on the secondary end of the second frame part, and which are configured to support the secondary end of the second frame part on a ground surface when the robot mower support device is positioned in the maintenance position.
[0069] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the robot mower support device may further comprise a tool carrying assembly that is configured to hold one or more tools, preferably garden tools and / or maintenance tools, wherein the tool carrying assembly preferably is connected to the first frame part and more preferably connected near the second end of the first frame part.
[0070] An advantage of a tool carrying assembly is that it allows any tools required for maintenance or cleaning purposes to be carried along with the robot mower support device . As a result, a consumer will always have the necessary tools at the ready when using the robot mower support device. This even further increases ease-of-use of the robot mower support device.
[0071] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the robot mower support device may comprise one or more brushes that are configured for cleaning a robot mower. The brushes may be brushes that are fixedly attached to the frame or may be removably attached to the frame.
[0072] An advantage of providing one or more brushes is that it allows a user to clean the robot mower when it is held in the robot mower support device in the maintenance position. This increases ease-of-use, especially when replacing cutting blades of the robot mower.
[0073] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the robot mower support device may be at least partially foldable.
[0074] An advantage of providing (partial) foldability is that the robot mower support device can be reduced in size, for example for storage and / or transportation.
[0075] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention the handle and / or the supports may be foldably attached to the U-shaped frame to allow the handle and / or the supports to be folded against the U-shaped frame.
[0076] An advantage of providing (partial) foldability is that the robot mower support device can be reduced in size, for example for storage and / or transportation. In particular the handle and the supports are parts that extend relatively far from the frame, which a large reduction in size can be achieved when folding these against the U-shaped frame.
[0077] Another advantage of providing foldable supports is that the supports may, in some embodiments, be folded against the U-shaped frame when the robot mower support device is positioned in the maintenance position.
[0078] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the robot mower support device may be manufactured from metal, preferably steel, stainless steel or aluminum, from plastic or from any combinations of the aforementioned materials.
[0079] The abovementioned materials are advantageous with respect to durability, robustness and manufacturing costs.
[0080] In an embodiment of the robot mower support device according to the invention, the robot mower support device may comprise: an electrical power supply and / or a connector for connecting the robot mower support device to a power supply; and at least one motor that is configured to transfer the robot mower support device between the pickup position and the maintenance position.
[0081] An advantage of electrification of the robot mower support device is that it even further reduces the effort for a consumer and / or user to perform maintenance on a robot mower when using the robot mower support device according to the invention.
[0082] Optionally, the robot mower support device may also include multiple motors, for example including a motor that is configured to operate the holding device, for example to switch the holding device between an open and a closed position. The at least one motor preferably is an electric motor, yet may also be a hydraulic motor or any other suitable motor.
[0083] Further optionally, the robot mower support device may also include a compressor to provide compressed gas, preferably compressed air, that is useable for cleaning and / or maintenance purposes.
[0084] The invention also relates to a maintenance assembly for robot mowers, the maintenance assembly comprising: a support device according to the invention; and a robot mower.
[0085] The maintenance assembly according to the invention provides similar effects and advantages as the robot mower support device according to the invention. Any embodiments described in relation to the robot mower support device according to the invention may freely be used, either alone or in combination, in the maintenance assembly according to the invention.
[0086] The invention also relates to a method for supporting a robot mower above a ground surface, the method comprising the steps of: providing a robot mower support device or a maintenance assembly according to the invention; clamping a robot mower in the holding device; moving the robot mower support device from the pickup position to the maintenance position by tilting or rotating the first and second frame parts relative to each other.
[0087] The method for supporting a robot mower according to the invention provides similar effects and advantages as the robot mower support device and the maintenance assembly according to the invention. Any embodiments described in relation to the robot mower support device and / or the maintenance assembly according to the invention may freely be used, either alone or in combination, in the method for supporting a robot mower according to the invention.
[0088] In an embodiment of the method for supporting a robot mower, the method may further comprise the steps of: moving the robot mower support device from the maintenance position to the pickup position by tilting or rotating the first and second frame parts relative to each other; releasing the robot mower from the holding device; and optionally, performing operations on the robot mower when the robot mower support device is in the maintenance position.
[0089] An advantage of the abovementioned method steps is that the movement between pickup position and the maintenance position can be performed with relatively little force due to the fact that the first and second frame parts are rotated relative to each other.
[0090] The invention also relates to a method for replacing parts of a robot mower, the method comprising: performing the steps of the method according to the invention for supporting a robot mower; removing one or more parts to be replaced; and installing one or more replacement parts.
[0091] The method for replacing parts of a robot mower according to the invention provides similar effects and advantages as the robot mower support device, the maintenance assembly and the method for supporting a robot mower according to the invention. Any embodiments described in relation to the robot mower support device and / or the maintenance assembly and / or the method for supporting a robot mower according to the invention may freely be used, either alone or in combination, in the method for replacing parts of a robot mower according to the invention.
[0092] Further advantages, features and details of the invention are elucidated on the basis of preferred embodiments thereof, wherein reference is made to the accompanying drawings, in which:
[0093] Figure 1 shows a perspective view of an example of a robot mower support device according to the invention;
[0094] Figure 2 shows a cross-sectional side view of a second example of a robot mower support device according to the invention;
[0095] Figures 3a, 3b and 3c show side views of the example of figure 1, when the robot mower support device is transferred from the pickup position to the maintenance position;
[0096] Figure 4 shows a schematic overview of an example of the method for supporting a robot mower above a ground surface according to the invention; and
[0097] Figure 5 shows a schematic overview of an example of the method for replacing parts of a robot mower according to the invention.
[0098] In a first example (see figures 1, 3a, 3b), robot mower support device 2 comprises frame 4 that includes first frame part 6 and second frame part 8. In this example, first frame part 6 comprises U-shaped frame 10 and handle 12, which in this example is also provided as U-shaped frame 12. U- shaped frame 10, which may also be referred to as base frame 10, is tubular construction provided with base 10a and two legs 10b, 10c, that extend from base 10a over a predetermined length UF from first end 9 towards second end 11. In this view, when robot mower support device 2 is in the pickup position, legs 10b, 10c extend in first direction z, which is a direction parallel to a substantially vertically upwards direction. At first or lower end 14 of U-shaped frame 10, a pair of wheels 16 is provided that allows robot mower support device 2 to be transported. Furthermore, U-shaped frame 10 is provided with two supports 18, each of which is connected to an associated leg 10b, 10c. Each support 18 extends from the associated leg 10b, 10c under an angle with first direction z in downwards direction towards ground or support surface B to support robot mowing support device 2.
[0099] As mentioned above, handle 12 in this example is also formed as a U-shape, having handle base 12a and two handle legs 12b, 12c. The ends 12b-e, 12c-e of handle legs 12b, 12c are connected to outer ends lOb-e, lOc-e of legs 10b, 10c of U-shaped frame 10. In this example, the angle between the U-shaped frame 10 and handle 12 is about 90°. This allows handle 12 to be positioned on ground or support surface B to support robot support mowing device 2 in the maintenance position. Second frame part 8 in this example is provided as rectangular frame 8. Here, rectangular frame 8 is depicted as tubular frame, although other types of frames may be used as well.
[0100] Second frame part 8 extends from primary end 20 to secondary end 22 over predetermined length US. In the pickup position, as shown in figure 1, second frame part 8 extends parallel to first frame part 6, or at least to U-shaped frame 10 thereof. Second frame part 8 is rotatably or tiltably connected to legs 10b, 10c of first frame part 6 at a predetermined position between primary end 20 and secondary end 22. In this example, second frame part 8 is suspended within U-shaped frame 10 of first frame part 6 at position R, which is respectively at a predetermined distance D 1 from first end 9 of first frame part 6 and at a predetermined distance D2 from primary end 20 of second frame part 8. In this example, the connection is made by means of a bolt 24 on each side of the respective frames 6, 8.
[0101] Second frame part 8 in this example is provided with holding device 26, which in this example is clamping device 26, that is configured to hold a robot mower (not shown). Holding device 26 in this example comprises bottom clamping support 28 and top clamping support 30. Bottom clamping support 28 in this example is formed as angled plate 28 that is connected to primary end 20 of second frame part 8. In this example, angled plate 28 is provided with first plate part 32 having optional slots 34 in which connection means 36 can be provided to connect angled plate 28 to second frame part 8. These optional slots 34 allow angled plate 28 to be moved over a limited distance parallel to a plane in which second frame part 8 extends. In practice, this means that lower plate part 38 can be raised and lowered with respect to ground or support surface B to adjust for the height of a robot mower to be supported.
[0102] Top clamping support 30 in this example comprises hingeable clamping support 30 having base part 40 that is connected to support bar 42 of second frame part 8. Support bar 42 extends between legs 12b, 12c of rectangular frame 12 and is fixedly connected thereto, which means that base part 40 is also fixedly connected to rectangular frame 12. Top clamping support 30 further includes hingeable part 44 that is hingedly connected to base part 40. Hingeable part 44 is further also connected to upper clamping plate 46 that is configured to exert a clamping force on a robot mower positioned in holding device 26. The hinging action can be performed by means of lever 48, which is connected to or part of hingeable part 44.
[0103] It is noted that, in this example, second frame part 8 is provided with supports 50, in this case rubber supports 50, which support secondary end 22 of second frame part 8 when it is positioned in the maintenance position. Furthermore, robot mower support device 2 is provided with gas spring 19, which is connected with a first end to second frame part 8 and with a second, opposite end to first frame part 6. Gas spring 19 is configured to assist during movement between the pickup position and the maintenance position (and vice versa).
[0104] In use of robot mower support device 2, robot mower support device 2 is at first positioned in the pickup position (see figures 1, 2, 3a). Using wheels 16, robot mower support device 2 is moved such that lower plate part 38 is positioned underneath robot mower M. Subsequently, lever 48 is used to move hingeable part 44 downwards such that upper clamping plate 46 is moved on top of robot mower M. Robot mower M is thus clamped between upper clamping plate 46 and lower plate part 38 and is fixed in holding device 26.
[0105] Thereafter, robot mower support device 2 is brought from the pickup position to the maintenance position (see figure 3b and figure 3c). In the maintenance position, second frame part 8, in particular the primary end thereof, is rotated (or tilted) relative to first frame part 6, in particular the first end and / or U-shaped frame 10 thereof, over an angle a . This rotation brings about a rotation of robot mower M such that the lower part of robot mower M is now facing upwards. In this position, first frame part 6, in particular the first end of first frame part 6, is rotated in first rotation R direction over predetermined angle y relative to vertical axis V, whereas second frame part 8, in particular primary end of second frame part 8, is rotated in first rotation direction R over predetermined angle P relative to vertical axis V.
[0106] It is thus easily accessible for replacing the cutting blades. After replacements are made and / or repairs are performed, robot mower support device 2 is brought from the maintenance position back to the pickup position and robot mower M is released from holding device 26.
[0107] In a second example (see figure 2) of robot mower support device 2, robot mower support device 2 is largely similar to the example as shown in figures 1, 3a and 3b. In this second example, handles 12 are formed as curved handles 12, each of which is connected to a longitudinal side of U- shaped part of first frame part 6.
[0108] The second example furthermore differs with regard to the construction at the lower end of the robot mower support device 2. In more detail, supports 18 are obviated in this second example. Bottom clamping support 28 in this example is formed as angled plate 28 that is connected to primary end 20 of second frame part 8. Angled plate 28 is provided with first plate part 32 and lower plate part 38. In this second example, lower plate part 38 is angled downwards (towards bottom surface and is configured not only to support a robot mower, but also functions as a support on which robot mowing support device 2 can be supported on the ground surface.
[0109] In an example of method 1000 for supporting a robot mower above a ground surface according to the invention, the method may comprise the step of providing 1002 a robot mower support device according to the invention and clamping 1004 a robot mower in the holding device thereof. In this example, method 1000 further comprises moving 1006 the robot mower support device from the pickup position to the maintenance position by tilting or rotating the first and second frame parts relative to each other. Method 1000 in this example further comprises the optional step of performing 1008 operations on the robot mower when the robot mower support device is in the maintenance position. This may include for example exchanging parts of the robot mower or cleaning and / or lubricating parts of the robot mower. Method 1000 in this example further also includes the (optional) steps of moving 1010 the robot mower support device from the maintenance position to the pickup position by tilting or rotating the first and second frame parts relative to each other and releasing 1012 the robot mower from the holding device.
[0110] In an example of method 2000 for replacing parts of a robot mower, the method may comprise at least the steps of providing 2002 a robot mower support device according to the invention and clamping 2004 a robot mower in the holding device thereof. It also comprises the step of moving 2006 the robot mower support device from the pickup position to the maintenance position by tilting or rotating the first and second frame parts relative to each other. Subsequently, the steps of removing 2014 one or more parts to be replaced and installing 2016 one or more replacement parts are performed. It is noted that these steps may also be performed multiple times for multiple different parts.
[0111] Method 2000 in this example further also comprises the steps of moving 2010 the robot mower support device from the maintenance position to the pickup position by tilting or rotating the first and second frame parts relative to each other and releasing 2012 the robot mower from the holding device.
