Description

Shoe component pretreatment composition and pretreatment method using the composition thereofTechnical field

[0001] The present invention relates to a shoe component pretreatment composition and a pretreatment method of shoe manufacturing using the composition thereof. Background of the invention

[0002] Pretreatment solutions play a crucial role in enhancing the adhesion or bonding strength of shoes within the manufacturing industry. These solutions are specifically designed for materials utilized in different segments of shoe production, such as outsole rubbers, midsole EVA foams, and upper fabrics. A number of pretreatment solutions are available in the market; however, a majority of these solutions are solvent-based or semi-water-based, implying a significant presence of organic solvents. This composition raises environmental and safety concerns, as these solvents are not eco-friendly and pose risks to workers during the shoe manufacturing process.

[0003] Several aqueous pretreatment solutions were reported in the prior art. However, the current formulation exhibits inadequate wetting properties and weak bonding strength on rubber materials, thereby constraining its applicability within shoe industry.

[0004] Another existing problem is that the pretreatment process of shoe manufacturing is too complicated. For instance, the common practice of surface roughening in shoe material is employed to enhance the security and durability of shoe bonding. However, this method often results in the generation of numerous small particles and noise, posing risks to both workers and the environment. Additionally, a subsequent cleaning step is typically necessary to eliminate impurities from the shoe material surface, but the cleaners employed may contain unsafe organic solvents. Moreover, the priming step, i.e. the application of pretreatment solutions on rubber materials, involves a high-temperature heating and activation process (requiring a surface temperature of up to 90 ℃) , which raises concerns about potential deformation of the shoe materials.

[0005] In view of the above, there is still a need for a water-based shoe component pretreatment that exhibits outstanding wetting properties and bonding strength on rubber materials as well as a simpler shoe component pretreatment method.Summary of the invention

[0006] According to a first aspect of the invention, disclosed herein is a shoe component pretreatment composition, comprising

[0007] (A) 0.003%to 0.25%by weight of an inorganic acid compound,

[0008] (B) 0.01%to 10%by weight of an organic acid compound,

[0009] (C) 0.01%to 2%by weight of a chlorine-containing salt compound having a solubility in water of more than 20 g / 100g at 25 ℃,

[0010] (D) 0.5%to 5%by weight of a surfactant, and

[0011] (E) 82.75%to 99.5%by weight of water,

[0012] all above weight percentage are based on the total weight of the composition.

[0013] According to a second aspect of the invention, provided herein is a shoe pretreatment method, comprising the following steps:

[0014] (i) washing a rubber surface by water in a temperature of from 55 ℃ to 65 ℃ and drying it at a temperature of from 55 ℃ to 65 ℃, and

[0015] (ii) applying the shoe component pretreatment composition according to the present invention to the rubber surface, and drying it at a temperature of from 60 ℃ to 70 ℃.

[0016] The invention features a water-based shoe component pretreatment composition for shoe outsole rubber materials. Notably, it is free from any organic solvents, contributing to a substantial reduction in VOC (volatile organic compounds) content. This holds immense significance within the shoe industry, promoting environmental friendliness, reduced toxicity, and enhanced safety for workers. The utilization of this pretreatment solution not only results in excellent final bonding strength and wetting effects on rubber materials but also simplify the overall shoe manufacturing process.

[0072] In some embodiments, the dying time in the step (i) or (ii) may be from 1 to 10 minutes, preferably 1 to 5 minutes.

[0073] In some embodiments, the surface of the rubbers can reach to 45 ℃ to 55 ℃ after the above method. The pretreated rubbers can be used for bonding, for example, applying adhesives on the pretreated surfaces of two rubber strips and then matting together under a pressure of 25 kg / cm2 for 10 to 60 seconds.

[0074] As will be understood, the drying time, temperature and subsequent bonding process for each shoe component pretreatment composition will vary, and different compositions can be designed to provide the drying profile and subsequent use that will be suited to the particularly industrial manufacturing process.

[0075] Use

[0106] Test Methods:

[0107] Final bonding strength

[0108] A pair of rubbers stripes (2*10 cm) was prepared for testing. The rubber strips were washed with 60 ℃ warm water. After cleaning, the rubber strips were dried in a 60 ℃ oven for 3 minutes. A cotton cloth was dipped into the pretreatment solution of each composition of the comparative example and inventive example, and gently applied to the surface of rubber stripes. Subsequently, the rubber stripes were dried in at 60-70 ℃ oven for 3 minutes.

[0109] Then the adhesive (LOCTITE AQUACE SW-07 available from Henkel) was applied to each pretreated surfaces of the rubber stripes. Two rubber stripes were matted together under a pressure machine (25 kg / cm2 force, 20 seconds) for bonding. The bonded rubber stripes were left in a 23 ℃50 rh%environment for 24 hours. The final bonding strength of each example was measured using a peeling strength machine under a condition of 180° peeling with a speed of 100 mm / min. The testing results were recorded in Table 1.

[0110] Wetting property:

[0111] After 5 seconds since each example applying on the rubber surface, the wetting performance of each sample was evaluated by visual observation based on the following criteria.

[0112] Table 1

[0113] *1 mol / L HCL aqueous solution was used to prepare these samples, necessitating recalculation of the actual weight of HCL compound and water shown in the table.

[0114] N / A denotes the absence of a homogeneous solution, making it untestable.

[0115] As can be seen from Table 1, without adding (A) inorganic acid compound, the pretreatment solution cannot achieve satisfactory final bonding strength (CE3) , in contrast, adding only 0.0036%of HCL in the pretreatment solution, the final bonding strength can be improved significantly (EX1 and EX2) . The further increase of HCL gradually improved the final bonding strength (EX2 to EX5) . Without adding (B) organic acid compound, the pretreatment solution cannot achieve good final bonding strength (CE2) . The use of TICA, with a water solubility outside the claimed range, as in CE4, led to poor homogeneity with insoluble TICA particles, making it unsuitable for rubber pretreatment. While the selection of a chlorine-containing salt compound from SDIC or DICD (as EX1 and EX2) resulted in a notably high final bonding strength.

[0116] Although some preferred embodiments have been described, many modifications and variations may be made thereto in light of the above teachings. It is therefore to be understood that the invention may be practiced otherwise than as specifically described without departing from the scope of the appended claims.
