[0010] The embodiments of the present invention relates to air filtration, and more particularly, to the incorporation of an air filter into an air damper that permits air to flow from the air source into a room for heating and cooling.
[0011] Description of the Prior Art
[0012] Present air dampers for room heating and / or cooling permit unfiltered air from an air source to enter a room with airborne contaminants which often time may be harmful to a room’s occupants.
[0013] Some sources of heated and cooled air have a filter to filter the warm and cooled air at its source but the air must be communicated to a damper by means of ducts, and contaminants in the ducts are released into the heated and cooled air.
[0014] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0015] Accordingly, an object of the embodiment of the present invention is to provide means to provide filtered warm and cooled air into a room by passing the warm and cooled air through a filter, so that the filter removes contaminants from the air stream, said contaminants having been introduced into the air from contaminants lodged within the connecting transmission ducts. A filter is fitted to the damper downstream of the warm and cooled air entering a room so that contaminants from the duct do not contaminate the rooms air

[0048] The embodiments of the present invention will implement the introduction of filtered warm and cool air into a room by means of equipping a damper with a replaceable air filter.
[0049] As shown in cut-away perspective view FIGURE 1 of invention 10 unfiltered air 16a enters from the rear and passes through replaceable filter 20a wherein contaminants and particles are filtered-out which result in uncontaminated air filtered air. Non-porous enclosure encases the damper on all sides other than the rear which receives unfiltered air 16a and the front of the damper wherein filtered air 16b is released into a room. Replaceable air filter is typically rectangular in shape with the thickness determined by the size of the air damper.

Claims
CLAIMSWhat is claimed is new and desired to be protected by Letters Patent is set forth in the following appended claims:
1. Apparatus for filtering air into a room, which comprises: a. an air damper; b. an air filter; and c. means for attaching the air filter to the air damper.
2. Apparatus for filtering air into a room as recited in claim 1, wherein the air damper is affixed to a wall in the room.
3. Apparatus for filtering air into a room as recited in claim 1, wherein the air damper is affixed to the ceiling of the room.
4. Apparatus for filtering air into a room as recited in claim 1, wherein the means for affixing the air filter to the air damper is an air filter holder located in the center of the air damper and held in place with a rotating filter guard.
5. Apparatus for filtering air into a room as recited in claim 1, wherein the means for affixing the air filter to the air damper is an air filter stop located at the rear of the air damper and held in place with a filter retaining latch.
