AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing coherent joint transmission (CJT) systems face challenges in non-ideal synchronization and backhaul scenarios, particularly in inter-site deployments, where timing misalignment and frequency/phase offsets between transmission reception points (TRPs) hinder accurate channel state information (CSI) reporting and precoding, leading to performance losses.

Method used

A UE-side compensation scheme is implemented to determine precoding matrix indicator (PMI) information based on measurements of CSI-RS resources and time offsets, allowing for pre-compensation of CSI-RS signals to align channel impulse responses across TRPs, thereby improving CSI accuracy and reducing signaling overhead at the network.

Benefits of technology

This approach enhances CJT performance by aligning channel responses across TRPs, reducing performance losses and overhead, and enabling synchronized transmissions without increasing network complexity.

Description

TIMING OFFSET COMPENSATION FOR INTER-TRANSMISSION RECEPTION POINT

[0001] FIELDS

[0002] Various example embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to the field of telecommunication and in particular, to methods, devices, apparatuses and computer readable storage medium for timing offset compensation for inter-transmission reception point (TRP) .BACKGROUND

[0003] The coherent joint transmission (CJT) offers downlink spectral efficiency and coverage gain. In release 18, Type-II CSI has been enhanced to accommodate CJT assuming ideal synchronization and backhaul. Scenarios such as inter-site CJT and a base station equipped with distributed remote radio heads (RRHs) require additional delay and phase / frequency calibration. As the user equipment (UE) possesses more knowledge on downlink (DL) channel condition in both frequency division duplexing (FDD) and time division duplex (TDD) , the need for inter-TRP calibration reporting measured from channel status information (CSI) -reference signal (RS) is evident not only to expand the deployment scenarios, but also to offer additional robustness to CJT operation.

[0004] Therefore, one of objectives related to CJT enhancement was proposed and agreed for release 19 as follows: specify UE reporting enhancement for CJT deployments under non-ideal synchronization and backhaul, targeting frequency range 1 (FR1) , both frequency division duplexing (FDD) and time division duplex (TDD) , for example, inter-transmission reception point (TRP) time misalignment and frequency / phase offset measurement and reporting, assuming legacy CSI-RS design, with stand-alone aperiodic reporting on physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) .SUMMARY

[0053] In some example embodiments, if the first apparatus 110 is a terminal apparatus and the second apparatus 120 is a network apparatus, a link from the second apparatus 120 to the first apparatus 110 is referred to as a downlink (DL) , while a link from the first apparatus 110 to the second apparatus 120 is referred to as an uplink (UL) . In DL, the second apparatus 120 is a transmitting (TX) apparatus (or a transmitter) and the first apparatus 110 is a receiving (RX) apparatus (or a receiver) . In UL, the first apparatus 110 is a TX apparatus (or a transmitter) and the second apparatus 120 is a RX apparatus (or a receiver) .

[0054] Communications in the communication environment 100 may be implemented according to any proper communication protocol (s) , comprising, but not limited to, cellular communication protocols of the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) , the fifth generation (5G) , the sixth generation (6G) , and the like, wireless local network communication protocols such as Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 and the like, and / or any other protocols currently known or to be developed in the future. Moreover, the communication may utilize any proper wireless communication technology, comprising but not limited to: Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) , Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) , Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) , Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) , Time Division Duplex (TDD) , Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) ,  Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple (OFDM) , Discrete Fourier Transform spread OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM) and / or any other technologies currently known or to be developed in the future.

[0055] Reference is now made to FIG. 1B, which illustrates an example communication environment 100B in which example embodiments of the present disclosure can be implemented.

[0056] Example communication environment 100B shows an example of downlink single-downlink control information (DCI) multi-TRP system formed by a maximum of NTRP=4 cooperating TRPs (or TRP groups) connected via perfect backhaul link and transmitting coherently (CJT) to one or more co-scheduled UEs. Assume that all RRH / TRPs have the same array geometry, N1×N2, with N1 antenna ports in azimuth and N2 in elevation, for each of the two polarisations, and 2N1N2 antenna ports in total per TRP. In this example, each TRP is equipped with a 2×2 dual-polarised array, and the total number of transmit antenna ports across the TRPs is 32.

[0057] Release 17 had introduced support for multi-TRP CSI reporting for the first time, with Type-I single panel (SP) for non-coherent joint transmission (NCJT) from two TRPs. As discussed above, the CJT offers downlink spectral efficiency and coverage gain. CJT differs from NCJT in that it assumes that each MIMO layer can be transmitted from antenna ports of multiple TRPs, whereas in NCJT, each MIMO layer can only be transmitted from a single TRP.

[0058] In release 18, for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) CSI enhancement, a new feature was introduced namely eType-II-CJT, that extends support of eType-II codebooks to multi-TRP CSI reporting for coherent joint transmission (CJT) with up to 4 distributed RRHs or TRPs.

[0059] Both NCJT and CJT operations assume full overlap of MIMO layers in time and frequency resources, i.e., they both assume time synchronization between TRPs is within the cyclic prefix of a symbol. Conversely, CJT also assumes phase synchronisation between TRPs such that precoding of a MIMO layer can be applied across antenna ports of multiple TRPs.

[0060] In Type-II-CJT, a UE is configured to measure Ks=NTRP CSI-RS resources, one per TRP / TRP group, where NTRP is the maximum number of TRPs / TRP groups in the  CJT cooperating set and it selects N≤NTRP TRPs (or TRP groups) for CSI reporting. Hence, the CJT reporting set comprises a subset of the maximum CJT cooperating set configured by the gNB. In general, for the N selected TRPs, the Type-II-CJT codebook structure is given by:

[0061] In the above equation (1) , W1, n, n=1, ..., N, is a matrix with columns formed by the selected spatial-domain (SD) basis vectors, Wf, n, n=1, ..., N, is a matrix with columns formed by the selected frequency-domain (FD) basis vectors and is the matrix of combination coefficients. The FD basis vectors are defined by a discrete fourier transform (DFT) codebook, hence there is a correspondence between indices of the FD basis vectors and channel propagation delays. In fact, the delay domain is the definition domain of a discrete signal obtained by a DFT transformation of a signal measured in the frequency domain. Similarly, the SD basis vectors are defined by a DFT codebook, hence there is a correspondence between indices of the SD basis vectors and channel propagation angles of arrival.

[0062] The SD basis vectors are selected separately for each reported TRP, whereas the FD basis vectors may be either selected separately per TRP, if codebook ‘mode-1’ is configured, or jointly across TRPs, if codebook ‘mode-2’ is configured. Hence, with mode-2, a single set of FD basis vectors is used in the PMI representation for all TRPs, i.e., Wf=Wf, 1=…=Wf, N. In both codebook modes, the number of selected FD basis vectors per TRP or across TRPs, i.e., the number of column vectors in Wf, or in each of the matrices Wf, 1, Wf, 2, ..., Wf, N, is defined by a configuration parameter M.

[0063] Codebook mode-1, with per-TRP FD basis vectors selection, targeted a CJT scenario where the propagation delays between TRPs and the receiver are different enough such that the channel delay profiles of different TRPs cannot be accurately captured by a single FD basis without incurring a loss in performance.

[0064] The reason for that loss is that in eType II CSI, a common set of FD component basis Wf is assumed across all TRPs and when there is a significant propagation delay between the different TRPs, it is difficult to find a common delay window and the CSI is not captured correctly. It is noted that the larger the delay window the higher UL overhead.

[0065] In an inter-site CJT scenario, the cooperating TRPs are located in different cell sites. In this case, the receive timing difference between the signals transmitted from antenna ports of different TRPs can be considerable given the size of the CJT deployment, especially in the presence of a non-ideal backhaul.

[0066] FIG. 2A illustrates results 200A of 4 channels measured on one port. In this example, without pre-alignment (or pre-compensation of the channels) , the UE cannot capture channels from TRP 1 and 3 in one delay window.

[0067] FIG. 2B illustrates a chart 200B of mean and cell edge performance with CJT with and without time offset (TO) . Pass happens in the presence of the time offset (TO) between the different TRPs. Users were assumed to have random delays between 0 and cyclic prefix (CP) length.

[0068] The maximum timing offset that can be supported with mode-1 is bounded by the precoding matrix indicator (PMI) numerology resolution in frequency domain,  for example with R=1 and number of subbands per PRB  max If bandwidth=10MHz and with normal CP, max CP Therefore, the range of delay that can be covered with mode-1 is much smaller than CP length. This is also clear in FIG. 2B, which shows a significant loss ~7%with mode 1.

[0069] In Release 18, a higher value of R=2 can be supported which can increase the delay range of mode 1 but it is not mandatory for a UE to implement it. It also results in higher feedback overhead. Hence, it is not suitable to rely on such a feature to recover the time offsets between TRPs. It is expected that the UE will feedback to the gNB a stand-alone report indicating the estimated time offset between UE and gNB.

[0070] In order to compute the TO values, the UE can be configured for example to measure the TO values from received tracking reference signals (TRSs) . TRS have a high density of 3 pilots per PRB in frequency domain, so the max delay that can be computed from TRS is (following the above analysis)  which is much higher than what can be supported via mode-1 and it can cover up to extended cyclic prefix (CP) length.

[0071] Once the time offsets are estimated and fed back to the gNB, the reference  signals used to compute the CSI at UE side (i.e., CSI-RS) need to be pre-compensated among the different TRPs so that a common delay window may be found and the CSI is captured correctly. In a later stage, the same offset will be applied during the physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmission of that user by the gNB. FIG. 2C illustrates chart 200C of the mean and cell edge performance with and without TO and with TO pre-compensation (line ② as illustrated in FIG. 2C) .

[0072] The challenge here is that CSI-RS, although configured in UE specific manner, is usually a cell-specific reference signal since its DL overhead is significant. A UE specific pre-compensation done at the TRP side will render CSI-RS to a UE specific reference signal and hence the DL overhead will scale linearly with the number of UEs deployed.

[0073] Note that the time offsets arise from a time alignment error between TRPs ΔtTAE, i.e., the hardware caused time offset is common for all UEs within a TRP, what the UE measures is the combined delay of propagation delay plus hardware caused time offset: ΔtTRP=ΔtTAE+Δtprop, where the propagation delay Δtprop is specific for each UE-TRP channel, hence the final measured delay by the UE is specific for each UE ΔtTRP.

[0074] One solution to get around this issue is that the pre-compensation of the CSI-RS signals should be carried out at the UE side. That means prior to computing the CSI, the UE applies proper time domain compensation, so that the channel impulse responses (CIRs) from the different TRPs are aligned in the delay domain and the CSI is properly computed.

[0075] The challenge now with a UE side compensation scheme is to determine which TO value should be applied by the UE. In general, a CSI report is self-contained, i.e., all the information needed to construct the precoder at the gNB side should be present inside the said report.

[0076] According to the present discourse, the timing offset compensation for inter-transmission reception point (TRP) may be implemented at the terminal device.

[0077] Work Principle and Example Signaling for Communication

[0078] According to some example embodiments of the present disclosure, there is provided a solution relates to a UE side compensation scheme.

[0079] For the purposes of discussion, following embodiments will be discussed with reference to FIG. 1A, for example, by using the first apparatus 110 and the second apparatus 120, where the first apparatus 110 may function as a terminal apparatus and the second apparatus 120 may function as a network apparatus.

[0080] It is to be understood that the operations at the first apparatus 110 and the second apparatus 120 should be coordinated. In other words, the second apparatus 120 and the first apparatus 110 should have common understanding about configurations, parameters and so on. Such common understanding may be implemented by any suitable interactions between the second apparatus 120 and the first apparatus 110 or both the second apparatus 120 and the first apparatus 110 applying the same rule / policy.

[0081] In the following, although some operations are described from a perspective of the first apparatus 110, it is to be understood that the corresponding operations should be performed by the second apparatus 120. Similarly, although some operations are described from a perspective of the second apparatus 120, it is to be understood that the corresponding operations should be performed by the first apparatus 110. Merely for brevity, some of the same or similar contents are omitted here.

[0082] Reference is made to FIG. 3, which illustrates a signaling flow 300 of communication in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0083] In operation, the first apparatus 110 determines 340 PMI information based on measurements on a plurality of CSI-RS resources and at least one first time offset, where each of the at least one first time offset corresponds to one of plurality of CSR-RS resources.

[0084] In some example embodiments, each of the plurality of CSI-RS resources corresponds to a third apparatus 130 (such as, a TRP) serving the first apparatus 110. As one specific example, there are four TRPs, TRP #0 to TRP #3, and CSI-RS resource #0 to CSI-RS resource #3 are associated with the TRP #0 to TRP #3, respectively.

[0085] In some example embodiments, the first apparatus 110 is further may pre-compensate at least one CSI-RS resource of the plurality of CSI-RS resources by using a respective first time offset.

[0086] Then the first apparatus 110 transmits 345 a PMI report comprising the PMI information to the second apparatus 120. As one specific example, the PMI report may  be comprised in a CSI report (also referred to as CSI feedback) .

[0087] As for the second apparatus 120, the after receiving the PMI report (which comprises the PMI information determined by the first apparatus 110 based on measurements on the plurality of CSI-RS resources and at least one first time offset) , the second apparatus 120 determines 350 a precoder to be applied for transmission between the first apparatus 110 and second apparatus 120 based on the PMI information.

[0088] With the precoder, the following transmissions from the second apparatus 120 to the first apparatus 110 may be performed 355 based on the precoder.

[0089] That is, according to the present disclosure, the first apparatus may calculate the PMI information based at least in part on the time offset (s) of different TRPs, further the second apparatus 120 may determine the precoder based on the PMI information. In this way, although there may be time offset (s) among different TRPs, a basically synchronized transmissions among different TRPs may be achieved. Further, as the compensation is implemented at the first apparatus 110 rather than the second apparatus 120 serving many terminal apparatuses, the additionally signaling overhead of the second apparatus 120 is avoided accordingly and the processing complexity of the second apparatus 120 is reduced.

[0090] According to the present disclosure, in some example embodiments, the at least one first one time offset may be determined by the first apparatus 110 and provided to the second apparatus 120. Alternatibely, in some other embodiments, the at least one first one time offset may be determined by the second apparatus 120 and provided to the first apparatus 110. In the following, these two different example embodiments will be discussed separately.

[0091] Embodiments where the at least one first one time offset is determined by the second apparatus 110 will be discussed first.

[0092] As illustrated in FIG. 3, in some example embodiments, prior to receiving the PMI information, the second apparatus 120 may transmit 330 information indicating the at least one first time offset to the first apparatus 110.

[0093] In this way, the first apparatus 110 and the second apparatus 120 may have a common undersetting about the time offset used for calculating the PMI information.

[0094] Additionally, in some example embodiments, the information indicating the at least one first time offset may be comprised in a MAC CE or DCI. Compared with the  RRC signaling, the MAC CE / DCI usually has a shorter periodicity of higher flexibility, and thus the at least one first time offset determined by the second apparatus 120 may be provided to the first apparatus 110 timely.

[0095] Additionally, the second apparatus 120 may determine 325 the at least one first time offset based on at least one second time offset estimated by the first apparatus 110 as discussed below.

[0096] In some example embodiments, the first apparatus 110 may measure 305 a plurality of downlink reference signals and determine at least one second time offset. As one specific example, the plurality of downlink reference signals are a plurality of tracking reference signals (TRSs) from different TRPs, the first apparatus 110 may determine 310 the at least one second time offset by measuring the plurality of TRSs, where each second time offset corresponds one of the plurality of TRPs.

[0097] Next, in some example embodiments, the first apparatus 110 may transmit 320 a measurement report comprising the at least one second time offset to the second apparatus 120, such as, via a stand-along report.

[0098] As for the second apparatus 120, the second apparatus 120 may determine 325 the at least one first time offset based on the reported second time offset, and transmit 330 the determined first time offset to the first apparatus 110. Generally speaking, the second apparatus may have a wider overview about the TRPs and thus the determined first time offset may have a higher accuracy than the reported second time offset (estimated by the first apparatus 110) .

[0099] With the above processes, the first apparatus 110 and the second apparatus 120 may have a common understanding about the at least one first time offset. Then, the second apparatus may trigger a (aperiodic) channel measurement. As illustrated in FIG. 3, reference signals (CSI-RSs) may be transmitted 335 from the second apparatus to the first apparatus 110 via different TRPs. The first apparatus 110 may determine the PMI information as discussed above.

[0100] Considering that in a case that the at least one first time offset is determined by the second apparatus 120, additional signalling overhead for informing the at least one first time offset may be introduced, the at least one first time offset also may be determined by the first apparatus 110. Such example embodiments will be discussed as below.

[0101] As illustrated in FIG. 3, the first apparatus 110 may determine 310 the at least one first time offset by measuring a plurality of downlink reference signals. As one specific example, the first apparatus 110 may determine 310 determine the at least one first time offset by measuring a plurality of TRSs from different TRPs.

[0102] Then in some example embodiments, the first apparatus 110 may transmit 320 a measurement report comprising the at least one first time offset to the second apparatus. In some example embodiments, it may be defined as a default rule that the first apparatus 110 always use the time offset (s) in the last / least measurement report when calculating the PMI information. With this default rule, after transmitting 320 the measurement report, the first apparatus 110 may determine the PMI information based on the time offset (s) comprised in the measurement report, and the second apparatus 120 also may determine the precoder based on the reported PMI information and the time offset (s) comprised in the measurement report.

[0103] Alternatively, or in addition, the first apparatus 110 may report the at least one first time offset along with the PMI report.

[0104] Specifically, in some example embodiments, after determining 310 the at least one first time offset, the first apparatus 110 may store 315 the at least one first time offset. In the following, the first apparatus 110 may determine the PMI information based on the stored first time offset (s) , and may further transmit information indicating the at least one first time offset along with the PMI information, for example, the PMI report comprises the PMI formation and information on the at least one first time offset. As for the second apparatus, after receiving the PMI report, the second apparatus 120 may determine the precoder based on the reported PMI information and the reported at least one first time offset.

[0105] With the above processes, a solution where the time offset compensation is implemented at the first apparatus 110 is enabled.

[0106] In order to better understand the above processes, some example embodiments will be further discussed with reference to FIG. 4 and FIG. 5. In the examples of FIG. 4 and FIG. 5, the first apparatus 110 is described as a UE while the second apparatus is described as a gNB.

[0107] Reference is now made to FIG. 4, which illustrates a flowchart 400 of a method  for time offset compensation according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure. In the example of FIG. 4, the at least first offset is determined by the second apparatus 120.

[0108] As illustrated in FIG. 4, at block 410, the UE computes and feeds back time offset (TO) estimates (i.e., the at least one second time offset) of the different connected TRPs in a stand-alone report. Accordingly, at block 415, the gNB receives TO estimates (from various UEs) .

[0109] At block 425, the gNB may decide on the actual TO compensation value (s) that it wants to apply for each UE-TRP link (per UE) . At block 435, the gNB may inform the UE of TO compensation value (s) that should be applied on CSI-RS (s) via a new MAC-CE message or via DCI and may trigger UE with (aperiodic) CSI-RS transmission (s) . Accordingly, at block 420, the UE may receive the TO compensation value (s) from gNB and uses the TO compensation value (s) to pre-compensate CSI-RS (s) prior to CSI computation (especially for PMI computation) .

[0110] At block 430, the UE may feed back PMI report to the gNB, and at block 445, the gNB may use the PMI report and the communicated TO compensation value (s) to build downlink precoder.

[0111] In FIG. 4, the gNB may make its own decision on the actual value of delay that should be applied on CSI-RS and PDSCH for each UE, which is usually advantageous because network usually has a wider overview than that of the UE.

[0112] Reference is now made to FIG. 5, which illustrates a flowchart 500 of a method for time offset compensation according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure. In the example of FIG. 6, the at least first offset is determined by the first apparatus 110.

[0113] As shown in FIG. 5, at block 510, the UE computes and feeds back TO estimates (i.e., the at least one second time offset) of the different connected TRPs in a stand-alone report. Accordingly, at block 515, the gNB receives TO estimates (from various UEs) .

[0114] It is assumed that the UE will store these values to be used on the CSI-RS before computing the next CSI report.

[0115] At block 525, the gNB triggers UE with AP CSI-RS transmission (s) . As for the UE, at block 520, the UE receives AP CSI-RS (s) and uses stored TO compensation value (s)  to pre-compensate AP CSI RS (s) . Then, at block 530, the UE feeds back PMI report including used TO compensation value (s) . At block 535, the gNB uses PMI report and communicated TO compensation value (s) to build DL precoder.

[0116] That is, inside the PMI report, the UE needs to include the assumption on the TO compensation value (s) used by the UE for CSI-RS pre-compensation. Further, if there is no available stored value at the UE side, the gNB will also be informed as delays used for CSI-RS compensation won’ t be part of the PMI report.

[0117] In FIG. 5, it requires that TO compensation values to be stored inside the UE (from the time of the TO computation in the stand-alone report to the time of AP CSI-RS triggering and CSI feedback computation) . In addition, it also requires feedback of these values to insure a self-contained PMI report. However, no additionally signalling overhead (such as, MAC CE or DCI in FIG. 4) for indicating the TO values is needed.

[0118] Additionally, in some embodiment, the second apparatus 120 may transmit a first message (such as, MAC CE or DCI) used for enabling / disabling the time offset compensation at the first apparatus 110 (such as, a UE side compensation scheme) . As one specific example, the second apparatus 120 may transmit the first message with a 1-bit indication, and the bit value ‘1’  /  ‘0’ indicates the first apparatus 110 to enable the time offset feature, while the bit value ‘0’  /  ‘1’ indicates the first apparatus 110 to disenable the time offset feature.

[0119] Alternatively, or in addition, the second apparatus 120 may transmit a second message (such as, MAC CE or DCI) used for indicating how to compensate the time offset, such as, which time offset compensation manner (if there are more than two offset compensation manners) may be used / activated by the first apparatus 110. As one example, the second apparatus 120 may trigger or activate a first time offset compensation manner (where the first apparatus determines the at least one first time offset) via a MAC CE / DCI, while the second apparatus 120 also may trigger or activate a second time offset compensation manner (where the second apparatus 120 determines the at least one first time offset) via a MAC CE / DCI.

[0120] Additionally, the first apparatus 110 also may provide its capability information about the time offset compensation to the second apparatus via such as RRC signalling, the capability information includes but is not limited to, whether the first apparatus 110 supports the time offset compensation at the first apparatus 110, at least one time offset  compensation manner supported by the first apparatus 110 and so on.

[0121] Example Methods

[0122] FIG. 6 shows a flowchart of an example method 600 implemented at a first apparatus in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the method 600 will be described from the perspective of the first apparatus 110 in FIG. 1A.

[0123] At block 610, the first apparatus determines, precoding matrix indicator (PMI) information based on measurements on a plurality of channel status information-reference signal (CSI-RS) resources and at least one first time offset, each of the at least one first time offset corresponding to one of plurality of CSR-RS resources.

[0124] At block 620, the first apparatus transmits, to a second apparatus, a PMI report comprising the PMI information.

[0125] In some example embodiments, prior to determining the PMI information, the first apparatus may receive, from the second apparatus, information indicating the at least one first time offset determined by the second apparatus.

[0126] In some embodiment the first apparatus may determine, at least one second time offset by measuring a plurality of downlink reference signals, transmit a measurement report comprising the at least one second time offset, and receive, from the second apparatus, the information indicating the at least one first time offset determined by the second apparatus based on the at least second time offset.

[0127] In some example embodiments, the information indicating the at least one first time offset is comprised in a medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) or downlink control information (DCI) .

[0128] In some example embodiments, the first apparatus may determine, the at least one first time offset by measuring a plurality of downlink reference signals.

[0129] In some example embodiments, the first apparatus may transmit, to the second apparatus, information indicating the at least one first time offset along with the PMI information and / or via a measurement report.

[0130] In some example embodiments, after determining the at least one first time offset,  the first apparatus may store the at least one first time offset.

[0131] In some example embodiments, the first apparatus may pre-compensate at least one CSI-RS resource of the plurality of CSI-RS resources by using a respective first time offset.

[0132] In some example embodiments, each of the plurality of CSI-RS resources may correspond to a transmission reception point (TRP) serving the first apparatus, and the PMI report may be comprised in a CSI report.

[0133] In some example embodiments, the first apparatus may comprise a terminal apparatus and the second apparatus may comprise a network apparatus.

[0134] FIG. 7 shows a flowchart of an example method 700 implemented at a first apparatus in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the method 700 will be described from the perspective of the second apparatus 120 in FIG. 1A.

[0135] At block 710, the second apparatus receives, from the first apparatus, a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) report comprising PMI information determined by the first apparatus based on measurements on a plurality of channel status information-reference signal (CSI-RS) resources and at least one first time offset, each of the at least one first time offset corresponding to one of plurality of CSI-RS resource.

[0136] At block 720, the second apparatus determines, based on the PMI information, a precoder to be applied for transmission between the first and second apparatuses.

[0137] In some example embodiments, prior to receiving the PMI information, the second apparatus may transmit, information indicating the at least one first time offset to the first apparatus.

[0138] In some example embodiments, the second apparatus may receive a measurement report comprising the at least one second time offset determined by the first apparatus by measuring a plurality of downlink reference signals, determine the at least one first time offset based on the at least one second time offset, and transmit, to the first apparatus, the information indicating the at least one first time offset.

[0139] In some example embodiments, the information indicating the at least one first time offset is comprised in a medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) or  downlink control information (DCI) .

[0140] In some example embodiments, the second apparatus may receive, information indicating the at least one first time offset via a measurement report or the PMI report.

[0141] In some example embodiments, each of the plurality of CSI-RS resources may correspond to a transmission reception point (TRP) serving the first apparatus, and the PMI report may be comprised in a CSI report.

[0170] FIG. 9 shows an example of the computer readable medium 980 which may be in form of CD, DVD or other optical storage disk. The computer readable medium 980 has the program 830 stored thereon.

[0171] Generally, various embodiments of the present disclosure may be implemented in hardware or special purpose circuits, software, logic or any combination thereof. Some aspects may be implemented in hardware, and other aspects may be implemented in firmware or software which may be executed by a controller, microprocessor or other computing device. Although various aspects of embodiments of the present disclosure are illustrated and described as block diagrams, flowcharts, or using some other pictorial representations, it is to be understood that the block, apparatus, system, technique or method described herein may be implemented in, as non-limiting examples, hardware, software, firmware, special purpose circuits or logic, general purpose hardware or controller or other computing devices, or some combination thereof.

[0172] Some example embodiments of the present disclosure also provide at least one computer program product tangibly stored on a computer readable medium, such as a non-transitory computer readable medium. The computer program product includes computer-executable instructions, such as those included in program modules, being executed in a device on a target physical or virtual processor, to carry out any of the methods as described above. Generally, program modules include routines, programs, libraries, objects, classes, components, data structures, or the like that perform particular tasks or implement particular abstract data types. The functionality of the program modules may be combined or split between program modules as desired in various embodiments. Machine-executable instructions for program modules may be executed within a local or distributed device. In a distributed device, program modules may be located in both local and remote storage media.

[0173] Program code for carrying out methods of the present disclosure may be written in any combination of one or more programming languages. The program code may be  provided to a processor or controller of a general purpose computer, special purpose computer, or other programmable data processing apparatus, such that the program code, when executed by the processor or controller, cause the functions / operations specified in the flowcharts and / or block diagrams to be implemented. The program code may execute entirely on a machine, partly on the machine, as a stand-alone software package, partly on the machine and partly on a remote machine or entirely on the remote machine or server.

[0174] In the context of the present disclosure, the computer program code or related data may be carried by any suitable carrier to enable the device, apparatus or processor to perform various processes and operations as described above. Examples of the carrier include a signal, computer readable medium, and the like.
