[0041] In some embodiments, the location server 130 may be a physical or logical entity that manages positioning for a target device by obtaining measurements and other location information from one or more positioning units and providing assistance data to positioning units to help determine this. The location server 130 may also compute or verify the final location estimate.

[0043] In some embodiments, the terminal device or PRU 110 may communicate with the location server 130 based on LPP. LPP is used point-to-point between the location server 130 and a target device in order to position the target device using position-related measurements obtained by one or more reference sources. For example, the target device may comprise a UE or SUPL Enabled Terminal (SET) .

[0044] In some embodiments, the network device 120 may communicate with the location server 130 based on a New Radio (NR) Positioning Protocol A (NRPPa) . The NRPPa procedure modules are divided into two modules as follows: NRPPa Location Information Transfer Procedures and NRPPa Management Procedures.

[0045] The NRPPa Location Information Transfer Procedures module contains procedures used to handle the transfer of positioning related information between NG-RAN Node and LMF. The Management Procedures module contains procedures that are not related specifically to positioning, i.e., error handling.

[0046] It is to be understood that the number of network devices and terminal devices is only for the purpose of illustration without suggesting any limitations. The communication network 100 may comprise any suitable number of network devices and terminal devices  adapted for implementing embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0049] Hereinafter, the first information related to positioning of the terminal device 110 with an AI or ML model is also referred to as AI / ML related information or AI / ML related data.

[0050] In some embodiments, the first information may comprise at least one of the following: channel measurement capability, model output capability of the AI or ML model, or model monitoring assistance capability.

[0051] In some embodiments, the channel measurement capability may comprise at least one of the following: timing information, paired timing information and power information, or paired timing information, power information and phase information.

[0052] In some embodiments, if sample-based measurements are used for AI / ML based positioning, the timing information may be an integer multiple of sampling periods.

[0053] Alternatively, in some embodiments, if path-based measurements are used for AI / ML based positioning, the timing information may be according to the detected path timing and may not be an integer multiple of sampling periods.

[0054] In some embodiments, the model output capability may comprise at least one of the following: a line of sight (LOS) or non-line of sight (NLOS) indicator, or the timing information. Hereinafter, LOS or NLOS indicator is also referred to as an LOS-NLOS-Indicator.

[0055] In some embodiments, the LOS-NLOS-Indicator may be soft values (0, 0.1, …, 0.9, 1) with the values corresponding to the likelihood of LoS. Alternatively, in some embodiments, the LOS-NLOS-Indicator may be hard values (0, 1) with a value of 1 corresponding to LoS and a value of 0 corresponding to NLoS.

[0059] In some embodiments, the model monitoring may be defined as a procedure that monitors performance of the AI or ML model.

[0060] In turn, the terminal device 110 transmits 220 the first information to the location server 130 based on LPP.

[0061] With the process 200, AI / ML related information may be transferred between the terminal device 110 and the location server 130 via LPP.

[0062] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may transmit the first information in one of procedures related to Assistance Data Transfer.

[0063] In some embodiments, the purpose of the procedures related to Assistance Data Transfer is to enable the target (such as the terminal device 110) to request assistance data from the server (such as location server 130) to assist in positioning, and to enable the server to transfer assistance data to the target in the absence of a request. Additionally, to enable the server to request AI / ML related assistance data from the target to assist in AI / ML based positioning, and to enable the target to transfer AI / ML related assistance data to the server in the absence of a request.
