AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing communication systems face challenges in efficiently configuring downlink signal resources for subband full duplex (SBFD) due to the need for dynamic switching between SBFD and non-SBFD symbols, particularly when channel state information-reference signals (CSI-RS) require transmission across both types of symbols without dynamic signaling.

Method used

A network device transmits configurations on time and frequency locations of SBFD subbands and downlink signal resources with an indication of SBFD operation, allowing a terminal device to override the initial configuration when SBFD operation is disabled, enabling efficient transmission of downlink signals without puncturing, thereby supporting both SBFD-aware and non-SBFD-aware devices.

Benefits of technology

This solution enables efficient configuration of downlink signal resources, supporting both SBFD and non-SBFD devices by disabling SBFD operation when necessary, ensuring seamless transmission of CSI-RS and other downlink signals without dynamic signaling complexity.

Abstract

Exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a configuration of downlink signal resource on subband full duplex (SBFD). In an aspect, a terminal device receives a first configuration on time and frequency location of an SBFD subband. The terminal device receives a second configuration on a downlink signal resource, where the second configuration comprises an indication of an SBFD operation. The terminal device overrides, based on determining that an SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting a downlink signal and the SBFD operation is disabled, override the first configuration with the second configuration on the SBFD symbol where the downlink signal is transmitted. By this process, the downlink signal is transmitted in an SBFD or non-SBFD manner by disabling SBFD operation for the downlink signal resource.

[0046] Some embodiments may relate to duplexing evolution, including subband non-overlapping full duplex (SBFD) . 3GPP 5G NR currently supports two duplexing modes:  frequency division duplex (FDD) for paired bands and time division duplex (TDD) for unpaired bands. In TDD, the time domain resource is split between downlink and uplink. Allocation of a limited time duration for the uplink in TDD would result in reduced coverage, increased latency, and reduced capacity.

[0047] Motivated by this, 3GPP has agreed to initiate a Rel-18 study item on the evolution of duplexing operation in NR that addresses the challenges above. One of the objectives of the study item is to allow simultaneous DL and UL transmission on different physical resource blocks (PRBs)  / subbands within an unpaired wideband NR cell. The set of PRBs assigned to a specific link direction is known as subband and this way of duplexing is denoted as subband non-overlapping full duplex.

[0048] There are two slot types for both downlink (DL) and uplink (UL) transmissions, namely: SBFD slots and non-SBFD slots. Several SBFD operation modes have been studied including whether time and frequency locations of subbands for SBFD operation are known to the SBFD-aware UE or not. It however has been agreed in 3GPP RAN1#110 meeting that at least the operation mode with time and frequency locations of subbands for SBFD operation being known to the SBFD-aware UE is prioritized. This means that SBFD slots should be known by the (SBFD-aware) UE in one way or another.

[0049] From some agreements in 3GPP meetings, for SBFD, time-domain locations of SBFD symbol are RRC-configured. UE is aware of the SBFD symbol locations by RRC configuration.

[0050] For SBFD with 2 DL non-contiguous subbands, it has been discussed that how to configure channel state information-reference signal (CSI-RS) resources across two DL subbands. Because the center of the carrier is used for SBFD UL subband, the overlapped part of CSI-RS resource should be punctured. There are two options for configuring such non-contiguous CSI-RS resource. First option is associating two CSI-RS resources in each DL subband, and the other option is configuring one CSI-RS resource and puncturing the resource overlapped with UL subband. In this disclosure, the term of CSI-RS resource or resource set is used, but this term may be fully replaced by NZP-CSI-RS resource or NZP-CSI-RS resource set according to 3GPP terminology.

[0051] The first option (associating) has more specification impact and very complicated while the latter option (puncturing) is simpler without complicated specification update because the UE is already aware of location of UL subbands. Thus, the option for  puncturing the overlapped part by the UE may be considered as the preferred option.

[0052] As discussed above, puncturing the overlapped part of CSI-RS resource in DL with UL subband is a proper solution. However, the inventors notice that there is another problem to solve in case the solution for puncturing the overlapped part is supported.

[0053] With SBFD carrier, there are cases where the CSI-RS resource should be transmitted over the whole bandwidth. For example, if a CSI-RS resource is cell-commonly configured to be shared by a SBFD UE and a non-SBFD UE, the CSI-RS resource should not be punctured. There are many different use cases for CSI-RS (CSI-RS for CSI-acquisition, tracking reference signal (TRS) , CSI-RS for mobility, CSI-RS for beam management etc. ) , and they are either or both for UE-specific or cell-common. For example, a CSI-RS resource for CSI-acquisition with 32-ports, 4 symbols is required. This resource is usually used for all UEs in the cell. The TRS is the signal for UE’s acquiring time / frequency synchronization and channel property, and for frequency range 1 (FR1) , 4 CSI-RS resources are configured in two consecutive slots. It may be cell-common, and every UE (including both SBFD UE and non-SBFD UE) needs to monitor the TRS. Thus, they are required to be configured over whole bandwidth. However, the signals are transmitted periodically, but not always transmitted for all slots or TDD switching periods.

[0054] In order to support the CSI-RS resource configuration where there are CSI-RS resource with puncturing and TRS / CSI-RS resource without puncturing, whether a resource is punctured or not should be clarified. Because 3GPP agreed not to support dynamic switching of SBFD and non-SBFD symbol, it cannot be switched dynamically from SBFD symbol in a period to non-SBFD symbol in another period. Thus, the only option to support this is to provide full time-domain scheduling information over the longest period of CSI-RS resources.

[0055] Also, if the CSI-RS resource periodicity is long (e.g. 80 / 160 ms) , one SBFD time domain configuration should be long enough to cover at least one period of the CSI-RS resource. If it is assumed that a TDD switching period is 2.5ms and a longest period of CSI-RS resources is 160ms, then SBFD time domain configuration should include the pattern of 64 periods (i.e. 4480 OFDM symbols) . Currently, periodicity of CSI-RS resource may be up to 640 slots, which extends to 8960 symbols. The following text box describes some non-restrictive information element of CSI-RS resource.

[0056] Thus, there is no mechanism which is efficient to support the configuration where there are CSI-RS resource with puncturing and TRS / CSI-RS resource without puncturing. There is a need for a solution to switch symbol type from SBFD symbol to non-SBFD symbol when CSI-RS is required to be transmitted in non-SBFD symbol without using dynamic signaling indication and without complicated SBFD time-domain configuration.

[0057] In view of the above, some embodiments of this disclosure propose a solution for providing a configuration of downlink signal resource for subband dull duplex, to transmit the downlink signal in an SBFD and non-SBFD manner by disabling SBFD operation for the downlink signal resource. In this solution, the network device transmits, to the terminal device, a first configuration on time and frequency location on a subband full duplex subband and a second configuration on a downlink signal resource, and the second configuration comprises an indication of an SBFD operation. Accordingly, the terminal device receives, from the network device, the first configuration and the second configuration, and then the terminal device overrides, based on determining that an SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting a downlink signal and the SBFD operation is disabled, the first configuration  with the second configuration on the SBFD symbol where the downlink signal is transmitted.

[0058] With the embodiments, efficient configuration of downlink signal resource with or without puncturing is enabled with semi-static SBFD time domain configuration, thereby supporting non-SBFD terminal device to receive the downlink signals that are common for both SBFD-aware and non-SBFD-aware terminal devices.

[0059] Reference is first made to Fig. 1A, which illustrates an example communication system 100 in which embodiments of the present disclosure may be implemented. The system 100 includes a terminal device 110 and a network device 120. The terminal device 110 is capable of connecting and communicating in an UL or DL with the network device 120 as long as the terminal device 110 is located within the corresponding cells of the network device 120. In communication systems, an UL refers to a link in a direction from a terminal device 110 to a network device 120, and a DL refers to a link in a direction from the network device 120 to the terminal device 110. The network device 120 may transmit scheduling information scheduling an uplink transmission to the terminal device 110, and the terminal device 110 may transmit a plurality of repetitions of the uplink transmission to the network device 120.

[0060] It is to be understood that the particular number of various communication devices, the particular number of various communication links, the particular number of other elements, and the particular shape of the cells as shown in Fig. 1A is for illustration purpose only without suggesting any limitations. The communication system 100 may include any suitable number of communication devices, any suitable number of communication links, and any suitable number of other elements and any suitable shape of the cells adapted for implementing embodiments of the present disclosure. In addition, it should be appreciated that there may be various wireless as well as wireline communications (if needed) among all of the communication devices.

[0061] Communications in the communication system 100 may be implemented according to any proper communication protocol (s) , comprising, but not limited to, cellular communication protocols of the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) and the fifth generation (5G) and on the like, wireless local network communication protocols such as Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 1002.11 and the like, and / or any other protocols currently known or to be developed in the future. Moreover, the communication may utilize any  proper wireless communication technology, comprising but not limited to: Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) , Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) , Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) , Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) , Time Division Duplex (TDD) , Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) , Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple (OFDM) , Discrete Fourier Transform spread OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM) and / or any other technologies currently known or to be developed in the future.

[0062] Based on what has been discussed above, some contents will be further described below with reference to the accompanying drawings. Fig. 1B illustrates a schematic diagram illustrating frequency-time resource partitioning with SBFD as compared to FDD and TDD. Fig. 1C illustrates a schematic diagram illustrating SBFD and non-SBFD slots. During the SBFD slots the non-overlapping DL subbands and UL subband (s) both exist, and, during the non-SBFD slots the entire band is used for DL or UL (i.e., normal / full DL / UL slots) . It is to be noted that SBFD slots and non-SBFD slots are illustrated with reference to Fig. 1C, however, the present disclosure is also applied for SBFD mini-slots and non-SBFD mini-slots, or SBFD symbols and non-SBFD symbols, or other time units not listed here. Although not shown in Fig. 1C, there may be a guardband between the DL subband and the UL subband in the SBFD slots. It should be understood that although the SBFD slots are illustrated to have a DUD frequency resource partitioning, it is not intended to be limiting of example embodiments.

[0063] Fig. 1D illustrates a schematic diagram illustrating two options for configuring a non-contiguous CSI-RS resource. The first option is associating two CSI-RS resources in each DL subband, and the other option is configuring one CSI-RS resource and puncturing the resource overlapped with UL subband. Fig 1E illustrates a schematic diagram illustrating that four CSI-RS resources are configured in two consecutive slots. The CSI-RS resource is configured but there are CSI-RS resource with puncturing and TRS / CSI-RS resource without puncturing. The TRS or CSI-RS resource in Fig. 1E is configured every 4 or more periods.

[0064] Hereinafter, the example method for performing configuration of downlink signal resource for subband full duplex will be described with reference to Fig. 2 to Fig. 4. Reference is first made to Fig. 2, which illustrates an exemplary signaling chart illustrating communication process in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0065] As shown in Fig. 2, the network device 120 transmits 210, to the terminal device  110, a first configuration 212 on time and frequency location of a subband full duplex (SBFD) subband. Accordingly, the terminal device 110 receives 214, from the network device 120, the first configuration 212 on time and frequency location of the SBFD subband. The network device 120 transmits 216, to the terminal device 110, a second configuration 218 on a downlink signal resource, and the second configuration includes an indication of an SBFD operation. Accordingly, the terminal device 110 receives 220, from the network device, the second configuration 218 on the downlink signal resource. Upon reception of the first configuration 212 and the second configuration 218, the terminal device 110 overrides 222, based on determining that an SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting a downlink signal and the SBFD operation is disabled, the first configuration 212 with the second configuration on the SBFD symbol where the downlink signal is transmitted.

[0066] In some embodiments, upon reception of the first configuration 212 and the second configuration 218, the terminal device 110 may determine whether an SBFD symbol or a non-SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting a downlink signal based on the first configuration 212 and the second configuration 218. For example, the first configuration may include at least one of a SBFD symbol or a non-SBFD symbol. The second configuration may be configured with the downlink signal resource for transmitting a downlink signal.

[0067] In some embodiments, if the terminal device 110 determines that an SBFD symbol is configured for the transmitting the downlink signal, the terminal device 110 may further determine whether an uplink subband on the SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting the downlink signal based on the first configuration and the second configuration. For example, the terminal device 110 may determine whether the downlink signal resource is overlapped with the uplink subband on the SBFD symbol. In some embodiments, based on determining that the non-SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting the downlink signal, the network device 120 may transmit, to the terminal device 110, the downlink signal based on the second configuration, and then the terminal device 110 may receive, from the network device 120, the downlink signal based on the second configuration.

[0068] In some embodiments, if the terminal device 110 determines that the uplink subband on the SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting the downlink signal, the terminal device 110 may further determine whether the SBFD operation is disabled based on the indication. In some embodiments, based on determining that no uplink subband on the SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting the downlink signal, the network device 120 may transmit, to the  terminal device 110, the downlink signal based on the second configuration, and then terminal device 110 may receive, from the network device 120, the downlink signal based on the second configuration.

[0069] In some embodiments, the indication may be configured to indicate whether a puncturing operation is disabled or enabled for the downlink signal where the downlink signal resource is overlapped with an uplink subband on the SBFD symbol. For example, in a case where the indication is configured to indicate that the puncturing operation is disabled for the downlink signal where the downlink signal resource is overlapped with an uplink subband on the SBFD symbol, the terminal device 110 may determine that the SBFD operation is disabled. In a case where the indication is configured to indicate that the puncturing operation is enabled for the downlink signal where the downlink signal resource is overlapped with an uplink subband on the SBFD symbol, the terminal device 110 may determine that the SBFD operation is enabled.

[0070] Alternatively or additionally, the indication may be configured to indicate whether a type of a time unit is non-SBFD or SBFD. For example, in a case where the type of the time unit is non-SBFD, the terminal device 110 may determine that the SBFD operation is disabled. In a case where the type of the time unit is SBFD, the terminal device 110 may determine that the SBFD operation is enabled. For example, the time unit may be at least one of: a symbol, a slot, or a period.

[0071] Alternatively or additionally, the indication may be configured to indicate to disable SBFD for a time instance. For example, in a case where the indication indicating to disable SBFD for a time instance is included in the second configuration, the terminal device 110 may determine that the SBFD operation is disabled. In a case where no indication indicating to disable SBFD for a time instance is include in the second configuration, the terminal device 110 may determine that the SBFD operation is enabled.

[0072] In some embodiments, if the terminal device 110 determines that the uplink subband on the SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting the downlink signal and further determining that SBFD operation is disabled, the terminal device 110 may override the first configuration with the second configuration on the SBFD symbol where the downlink signal is transmitted and determine the SBFD symbol where the downlink signal is transmitted as a non-SBFD symbol. The network device 120 may transmit, to the terminal device 110, the downlink signal based on the second configuration, and accordingly, the terminal device 110  may receive, from the network device 120, the downlink signal based on the second configuration without puncturing the downlink signal resource. For example, as shown in Fig. 3A, when CSI-RS resource is configured without any indication, a part of the CSI-RS resource overlapped with UL subband in SBFD symbol is punctured; and when CSI-RS resource in SBFD symbol is configured with an indication to disable SBFD, the SBFD symbol is configured as a non-SBFD symbol.

[0073] Alternatively or additionally, if the terminal device 110 determines that the uplink subband on the SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting the downlink signal and further determining that SBFD operation is disabled, the terminal device 110 may override the first configuration with the second configuration on the SBFD symbol where the downlink signal is transmitted and at least one of additional symbols before and after the SBFD symbol where the downlink signal is transmitted, and determine this SBFD symbol and at least one of the additional symbols before and after this SBFD symbol as a non-SBFD symbol. The network device 120 may transmit, to the terminal device 110, the downlink signal based on the second configuration, and accordingly, the terminal device 110 may receive, from the network device 120, the downlink signal based on the second configuration without puncturing the downlink signal resource. For example, as shown in Fig. 3B, the overriding of SBFD symbol to non-SBFD symbol applies not only to the symbols where the CSI-RS is transmitted, but to an additional N symbol before and / or after the symbols where the CSI-RS is transmitted. Fig. 3B exemplarily shows N symbols before and after the CSI-RS resource is interpreted as non-SBFD symbols, where N = 2. It should be noted that N may be configured or fixed by the Standard.

[0074] Alternatively or additionally, if the terminal device 110 determines that the uplink subband on the SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting the downlink signal and further determining that SBFD operation is disabled, the terminal device 110 may override the first configuration with the second configuration on an entire slot where the downlink signal is transmitted, and determine symbols of the entire slot as a non-SBFD symbol. The network device 120 may transmit, to the terminal device 110, the downlink signal based on the second configuration, and accordingly, the terminal device 110 may receive, from the network device 120, the downlink signal based on the second configuration without puncturing the downlink signal resource. For example, as shown in Fig. 3C, the overriding of SBFD symbol to non-SBFD symbol applies not only to the symbols where the CSI-RS is transmitted, but to the entire slot where the CSI-RS is transmitted. Fig. 3C exemplarily shows the CSI- RS resource on the SBFD symbol is configured with an indication to disable SBFD and the entire slot including the SBFD symbol is interpreted as a non-SBFD slot.

[0075] Alternatively or additionally, if the terminal device 110 determines that the uplink subband on the SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting the downlink signal and further determining that SBFD operation is disabled, the terminal device 110 may override the first configuration with the second configuration on an entire TDD or SBFD pattern period, and determine symbols of the entire TDD or SBFD pattern period as a non-SBFD symbol. The network device 120 may transmit, to the terminal device 110, the downlink signal based on the second configuration, and accordingly, the terminal device 110 may receive, from the network device 120, the downlink signal based on the second configuration without puncturing the downlink signal resource. For example, as shown in Fig. 3D, the overriding of SBFD symbol to non-SBFD symbol applies not only to the symbols where the CSI-RS is transmitted, but to the entire TDD / SBFD pattern period where the CSI-RS is transmitted. Fig. 3D exemplarily shows the CSI-RS resource on the SBFD symbol is configured with an indication to disable SBFD and the entire TDD / SBFD pattern period including the SBFD symbol is interpreted as a non-SBFD slot.

[0076] Alternatively or additionally, if the terminal device 110 determines that the uplink subband on the SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting the downlink signal and further determining that SBFD operation is disabled, the terminal device 110 may override the first configuration with the second configuration on symbols from the SBFD symbol where the downlink signal is transmitted to a non-SBFD symbol configured by the first configuration, and determine symbols from the SBFD symbol where the downlink signal is transmitted to a non-SBFD symbol configured by the first configuration as a non-SBFD symbol. The network device 120 may transmit, to the terminal device 110, the downlink signal based on the second configuration, and accordingly, the terminal device 110 may receive, from the network device 120, the downlink signal based on the second configuration without puncturing the downlink signal resource. For example, as shown in Fig. 3E, the overriding of SBFD symbol to non-SBFD symbol applies not only to the symbols where the CSI-RS is transmitted, but to symbols starting from the CSI-RS symbol or slot and up to the next non-SBFD symbol in the TDD / SBFD pattern period. Fig. 3E exemplarily shows the CSI-RS resource on the SBFD symbol is configured with an indication to disable SBFD and the symbols from this SBFD symbol to the non-SBFD symbol configured by SBFD time-domain configuration is interpreted as a non-SBFD slot.

[0077] In some embodiments, if the terminal device 110 and / or the network device 120 determine that the SBFD operation is enabled, the terminal device 110 and / or the network device 120 may puncture a part of the downlink signal resource outside a downlink subband on the SBFD symbol. The network device 120 may transmit, to the terminal device 110, the downlink signal based on the first configuration, and accordingly, the terminal device 110 may receive, from the network device 120, the downlink signal based on the first configuration with the downlink signal resource being punctured.

[0078] In some embodiments, the downlink signal resource includes channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) resource, a CSI-RS resource set, a control resource set (CORESET) , positioning reference signal (PRS) resource, or any combination thereof.

[0079] In some embodiments, the indication may be configured as a part of the downlink signal resource, or the indication may be configured as a separate configuration of the downlink signal resource, which is not limited in the present disclosure. The indication may be configured by the network device, or by the standard, which is not limited in the present disclosure.

[0080] Fig. 4 illustrates a schematic diagram illustrating a flow 400 of performing configuration of CSI-RS resource / resource set on SBFD according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. The flow 400 may be a more specific example of the process 400 of Fig. 2. The terminal device 110 may be called as UE for short.

[0081] As shown in Fig. 4, at step 410 and step 420, UE is configured with SBFD symbol locations and configured with CSI-RS resource / resource set. At step 414, UE determines whether the CSI-RS resource / resource set is configured in an SBFD symbol. If yes, turn to step 416; otherwise, turn to step 418. At step 418, UE determines whether the part of the CSI-RS resource / resource set is configured outside of an DL subband. If yes, turn to step 420, otherwise, turn to step 418. At step 418, UE receives CSI-RS as configured. At step 420, UE determines whether the CSI-RS resource / resource set is configured with disabling SBFD, for example, the configuration parameter may be “disablingSBFD Enumerated {enabled} ” . If UE determines that the CSI-RS resource / resource set is configured with disabling SBFD, UE receives CSI-RS as configured and UE understands that the symbol is non-SBFD symbol. Otherwise, the symbol is still SBFD symbol, and UE receives CSI-RS with the CSI-RS resource outside DL subband being punctured at step 422. It is to be noted that CSI-RS resource is for illustration purpose only without suggesting any limitations.  Other resources are also possible. Periodic resources, semi-persistent resources are possible. Application to aperiodic resources can be separately configured according to UE capability.

[0082] In some embodiment, instead of configuring “disabling SBFD” , UE may be configured with an indication indicating if the CSI-RS resource is punctured or not when configured in SBFD symbol. For example, the configuration parameter may be “puncturingSBFDUL Enumerated {enabled, disabled} ” , and if not configured, “enabled” is default. In this case, the CSI-RS resource configured with puncturing enabled is punctured when CSI-RS is transmitted in SBFD symbol, and is not punctured when CSI-RS is transmitted in non-SBFD symbol.

[0083] Alternatively or additionally, UE may be configured with an indication indicating SBFD type for the CSI-RS resource. For example, the configuration parameter may be “SBFD Type Enumerated {SBFD, non-SBFD} ” , and if not configured, “SBFD” is default.

[0084] For example, in option 1, the CSI-RS resource is configured with “disabling SBFD” . The following text box describes the configuration of NZP-CSI-RS-Resource, and the underlined text shows the configuration parameter of the indication of “disabling SBFD” according to some examples of the present disclosure.

[0085] For another example, in option 2, the CSI-RS resource set is configured with “disabling SBFD” . The following text box describes the configuration of NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceSet, and the underlined text shows the configuration parameter of the indication of  “disabling SBFD” according to some examples of the present disclosure.

[0086] Fig. 5 illustrates a flowchart of a method 500 implemented at a terminal device in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the method 500 will be described from the perspective of the terminal device 110 with reference to Fig. 1.

[0087] At block 510, the terminal device 110 receives a first configuration on time and frequency location of a subband full duplex (SBFD) subband. At block 520, the terminal device 110 receives a second configuration on a downlink signal resource, where the second configuration comprises an indication of an SBFD operation. At block 530, the terminal device 110 overrides, based on determining that an SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting a downlink signal and the SBFD operation is disabled, the first configuration with the second configuration on the SBFD symbol where the downlink signal is transmitted.

[0088] In some embodiments, the SBFD operation is determined to be disabled based on at least one of the following conditions: the indication indicates that a puncturing operation is disabled for the downlink signal where the downlink signal resource is overlapped with an uplink subband on the SBFD symbol; the indication indicates that a type of a time unit is non-SBFD; or the indication indicates to disable SBFD for a time instance. In some embodiments, the time unit is at least one of: a symbol, a slot, or a period.

[0089] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 determines, based on determining that an uplink subband on the SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting the downlink signal, the SBFD symbol where the downlink signal is transmitted as a non-SBFD symbol. The terminal device 110 receives the downlink signal based on the second configuration without puncturing the downlink signal resource.

[0090] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 overrides, based on determining that the uplink subband on the SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting the downlink signal and the SBFD operation is disabled, the first configuration with the second configuration on  the SBFD symbol where the downlink signal is transmitted and at least one of additional symbols before or after the SBFD symbol where the downlink signal is transmitted. The terminal device 110 receives the downlink signal based on the second configuration without puncturing the downlink signal resource.

[0091] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 overrides, based on determining that the uplink subband on the SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting the downlink signal and the SBFD operation is disabled, the first configuration with the second configuration on an entire slot where the downlink signal is transmitted. The terminal device 110 receives the downlink signal based on the second configuration without puncturing the downlink signal resource.

[0092] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 overrides, based on determining that the uplink subband on the SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting the downlink signal and the SBFD operation is disabled, the first configuration with the second configuration on an entire TDD or SBFD pattern period. The terminal device 110 receives the downlink signal based on the second configuration without puncturing the downlink signal resource.

[0093] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 overrides, based on determining that the uplink subband on the SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting the downlink signal and the SBFD operation is disabled, override the first configuration with the second configuration on symbols from the SBFD symbol where the downlink signal is transmitted to a non-SBFD symbol configured by the first configuration. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 receives, based on determining that that the SBFD operation is enabled, the downlink signal based on the first configuration.

[0094] In some embodiments, the SBFD operation is determined to be enabled based on at least one of the following conditions: the indication indicates that a puncturing operation is enabled for the downlink signal where the downlink signal resource is overlapped with an uplink subband on the SBFD symbol; or the indication indicates that a type of a time unit is SBFD. In some embodiments, the time unit is at least one of: a symbol, a slot, or a period.

[0095] In some embodiments, a part of the downlink signal resource outside a downlink subband on the SBFD symbol is punctured. The terminal device 110 receives the downlink signal based on the first configuration with the downlink signal resource being punctured.

[0096] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 receives, based on determining that no uplink subband on the SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting the downlink signal, the downlink signal based on the second configuration.

[0097] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 receives, based on determining that non-SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting the downlink signal, the downlink signal based on the second configuration

[0098] In some embodiments, the downlink signal resource comprises at least one of the following: channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) resource; a CSI-RS resource set; a control resource set (CORESET) ; or positioning reference signal (PRS) resource.

[0099] In some embodiments, the downlink signal resource is periodic resource or semi-persistent resource. In some embodiments, the downlink signal resource is aperiodic resource when the terminal device indicates a capability to support the aperiodic resource with disabling SBFD.

[0100] Fig. 6 illustrates a flowchart of a method implemented at a network device according to some other embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the method 700 will be described from the perspective of the network device 120 with reference to Fig. 1.

[0101] At block 610, the network device 120 transmits a first configuration on time and frequency location of a subband full duplex (SBFD) subband. At block 620, the network device 120 transmits a second configuration on a downlink signal resource, where the second configuration comprises an indication of an SBFD operation.

[0102] In some embodiments, the SBFD operation is indicated to be disabled based on at least one of the following conditions: the indication indicates that a puncturing operation is disabled for the downlink signal where the downlink signal resource is overlapped with an uplink subband on the SBFD symbol; the indication indicates that a type of a time unit is non-SBFD; or the indication indicates to disable SBFD for a time instance. In some embodiments, the time unit is at least one of: a symbol, a slot, or a period.

[0116] In some embodiments, the apparatus comprises means for receiving, based on determining that that the SBFD operation is enabled, the downlink signal based on the first configuration.

[0117] In some embodiments, the SBFD operation is determined to be enabled based on at least one of the following conditions: the indication indicates that a puncturing operation is  enabled for the downlink signal where the downlink signal resource is overlapped with an uplink subband on the SBFD symbol; or the indication indicates that a type of a time unit is SBFD.

[0118] In some embodiments, the time unit is at least one of: a symbol, a slot, or a period.

[0121] In some embodiments, the apparatus comprises means for receiving, based on determining that non-SBFD symbol is configured for transmitting the downlink signal, the downlink signal based on the second configuration

[0122] In some embodiments, the downlink signal resource comprises at least one of the following: channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) resource; a CSI-RS resource set; a control resource set (CORESET) ; or positioning reference signal (PRS) resource.

[0123] In some embodiments, the downlink signal resource is periodic resource or semi-persistent resource. In some embodiments, the downlink signal resource is aperiodic resource when the terminal device indicates a capability to support the aperiodic resource with disabling SBFD.

[0124] In some embodiments, the apparatus further comprises means for performing other steps in some embodiments of the method 500. In some embodiments, the means comprises at least one processor and at least one memory including computer program code, the at least one memory and computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the performance of the apparatus.
