[0006] State of the Art
[0007]
[0004] We have recently seen the emergence of new tools in the fight against insects, with particular emphasis on paints and varnishes with repellent or lethal action, especially against the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which transmits diseases such as Dengue, Zika and Chikungunya, considered to have a major impact on public health.
[0008]
[0005] Below, we list some examples of paints with sanitizing action used in Brazil and abroad:
[0009] • INESFLY CARBAPAINT 10
[0010] Ink manufactured by INESFLY Corporation SL, based in Valencia, Spain, and distributed in our country by Inesfly Brasii.

[0018]
[0006] It is important to highlight that none of the above-mentioned products used iambdacyhalothrin or lambdacyhalothrin microcapsules as an active ingredient in combating the dengue vector (Aedes aegypti) and urban pests (Periplaneta americana), either in Brazil or abroad, demonstrating its unique formulation.
[0019]
[0007] The state of the art also includes patent application No. BR1 12019021228A2, already filed with the INPI, which discloses a process for producing a biocide in the form of an alkyd emulsion containing the following summary: “the present invention relates to an emulsion of an alkyd comprising a biocide in an aqueous solution wherein the aqueous solution comprises between 0.1 and 10% by weight of surfactant, a process for preparing such an emulsion and for a coating composition comprising such an emulsion”.
[0020]
[0008] The present invention allows us to highlight 2 main differences with respect to the filed application No. BR112019021228A2:
[0021] 1. Alkyd Emulsion vs. Acrylic Emulsion: The main difference between an acrylic emulsion and an alkyd emulsion lies in the nature of the polymers used in their composition. Acrylic emulsions are composed of acrylic polymers, which are synthetic polymers derived from acrylic or methacrylic acid. These polymers offer properties such as weather resistance, durability, good adhesion, and flexibility, making acrylic emulsions ideal for applications on porous surfaces such as masonry and wood. On the other hand, alkyd emulsions are composed of alkyd polymers, which are synthetic resins derived from vegetable oils or animal fats (examples 068). Alkyd emulsions offer properties such as corrosion resistance, good adhesion to metallic substrates, and fast drying, making them suitable for applications on metallic surfaces, such as metal structures and industrial equipment. Thus, the fundamental difference between acrylic emulsions and alkyd emulsions lies in the polymers used in their formulation, resulting in distinct properties and applications for each type of emulsion.
[0022] 2. Nature of the product and components of the insecticide: The filed application No. BR1 12019021228A2 describes the manufacture of an intermediate product, an alkyd emulsion with surfactants and a biocide, that is, the production of a microcapsule with insecticide (deitamethrin) that will be used as raw material for other products, as mentioned in paragraphs 049, 050, 062 and 063 as well as in claim 6. The invention in question refers to the real estate paint sector, more specifically to the segment of paints with sanitizing action (insecticide), highlighting the water-based insecticidal varnish in acrylic emulsion with lambda-cyhalothrin microcapsules for the control of the vector (Aedes aegypti) and urban pests (Periplaneta americana), presenting itself in a milky form when in the liquid state and, after application and drying, becoming transparent and with an imperceptible odor, and can be applied and on any porous surface (masonry, wood, tiles),Forming a transparent film and possessing, in its formulation, microcapsules that release the insecticide slowly, gradually and safely, making the surface lethal to insects with mortality efficacy levels of 100% in 24 hours for the dengue mosquito (Aedes aegypti) and 82.5% in 72 hours for the cockroach (Periplaneta americana). The invention stands out for its insecticidal action and the presence of the active ingredient microencapsulated lambda-cyhalothrin, with a concentration of 0.01% w / w up to the maximum permitted of 10% w / w in a water-based acrylic inulsion. The application of the paint aims to offer an effective solution for the control of these pests in domestic, commercial or institutional environments. The varnish is a ready-to-use, final product, requiring no dilution or other preparation.
[0009] Thus, we have significant differences between alkyd emulsions (derived from oil) and acrylic emulsions (derived from acrylic or methacrylic acid). In addition to the fact that the filed application No. BR11 2019021228A2 claims an intermediate product with an insecticide base consisting of deitamethrin, without any efficiency testing against Periplaneta americana (cockroach), this contrasts with the lambda-cyhalothrin component used in the varnish of the invention proposed herein, and the patent in question claims a finished product (varnish).
[0023] Description of the Invention
[0024]
[0010] The concept for creating this product emerged in 2016, when there was an explosion in dengue cases in Brazil. In December, more than 1.9 million cases of Dengue, Zika, and Chikungunya had already been recorded. Combating this global public health problem was the core of the idea to develop a solution that would help reduce the number of cases.
[0025]
[0011] The solution envisioned was to develop a transparent, water-based varnish that could be applied to any porous surface (masonry, wood, tiles) or over existing paint without altering the surface characteristics or paint color. This would allow the product to be used in various indoor or outdoor locations, acting as an insecticide against dengue mosquitoes and cockroaches.
[0026]
[0012] One of the drawbacks of the current state of the art lies in the fact that the solutions available on the market, as previously presented, do not meet some of the market's demands regarding product transparency, since, being a white insecticidal paint, it can alter the characteristics as well as the color of the applied area, or, being a varnish with repellent action, it does not have proven insecticidal effectiveness against mosquitoes (Aedes Aegypti) and cockroaches (Periplaneta americana).
[0027]
[0013] The water-based insecticidal varnish with lambda-cyhalothrin microcapsules for the control of the vector (Aedes aegypti) and urban pests (Penp / Aneta americana) has the following physicochemical characteristics:
[0028] Physical state: liquid
[0029] Color: milky
[0030] Dry film color: transparent
[0031] Odor: low in liquid state, imperceptible in the dry film.
[0032] Density: 1.000 + / - 0.05 g / cm³ 3
[0033] Viscosity: 26 seconds + / - 2 Ford Cup No. 4
[0034] Solubility: soluble in water
[0035] Flammability: Not applicable.
[0036] Flash point: not applicable. pH of 1% w / w solution (25 ± 2°C): 7.15 ± 0.01
[0037]
[0014] The water-based insecticidal varnish with lambda-cyhalothrin microcapsules for the control of the vector (Aedes Aegypti) and urban pests (Periplaneta americana) presents the following technical advantages:
[0038] • Effective insecticidal action - eliminates 100% of mosquitoes (Aedes Aegypti) within 24 hours of contact with the surface, after varnish application. • Effective insecticidal action - eliminates 82.5% of cockroaches (Periplaneta Americana) within 72 hours of contact with the surface, after varnish application.
[0039] • It can be applied to porous surfaces (masonry, wood, tiles).
[0040] • Can be applied to painted surfaces.
[0041] • Colorless after drying, it does not interfere with the wall color.
[0042] Ready to use, requires no handling or dilution.
[0043] • The product is not flammable.
[0044] • pH near neutral (7.15)
[0045] • After drying, the odor is imperceptible, leaving no insecticide smell in the environment. Prolonged action of 2 years.
[0046] • It is not harmful to health. “It was tested in acute toxicology, oral, thermal, inhalation, dermal irritation, ocular and dermal sensitivity tests, and the results of all of them demonstrate that it is safe for humans. These tests are one of the main items to be observed by Anvisa (Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency).”
[0047] • The product passed the risk assessment for direct sale and presented acceptable values in all items, which are evaluated according to international parameters.
[0048] • It is intended for personal, commercial, or institutional use and has low toxicity, with an acute oral LD50 in rats greater than 2000 mg / kg.
[0049] • It is authorized for over-the-counter sale and presents a low probability of risk to beekeepers and users.
[0050]
[0015] One of the objectives of the present invention is to provide an alternative to a water-based insecticidal varnish with the characteristic of being a colorless, satin-gloss finished product with very low odor, designed to be applied to porous surfaces, such as walls, wood and tiles, in order to exert an insecticidal activity, since its aqueous formulation contains lambda-cyhalothrin microcapsules, which release the insecticide slowly and gradually, making the surface lethal to insects, with proven effectiveness against cockroaches (Periplaneta americana) and the dengue mosquito (Aedes aegypti), according to laboratory tests.
[0051]
[0016] Therefore, in order to allow for a better elucidation of the object in question, its description will be carried out with reference to the following figures, where: figure 1 presents the table with the chemical composition of the invention.
[0052]
[0017] In accordance with what is illustrated in the figures mentioned above, the “WATER-BASED INSECTICIDE VARNISH IN ACRYLIC EMULSION WITH LAMBDACYHALOTHRIN MICROCAPSULES FOR THE CONTROL OF THE VECTOR (AEDES AEGYPTI) AND URBAN PESTS (PERIPLANETA AMERICANA)”, object of this Invention Patent, consists of a water-based insecticide varnish with the characteristic of being a colorless finished product, with a satin sheen and very low odor, designed to be applied to porous surfaces, such as walls, wood and tiles, in order to exert an insecticidal activity, since its aqueous formulation contains lambdacyhalothrin microcapsules, which release the insecticide slowly and gradually, making the surface lethal to insects, with proven effectiveness against cockroaches (Periplaneta americana) and the dengue mosquito (Aedes aegypti).
[0018] This water-based insecticidal varnish is intended for personal, commercial, or institutional use and has low toxicity, with an acute oral LD50 in rats greater than 2000 mg / kg. Furthermore, the product is approved for over-the-counter sale and presents a low probability of risk to applicators and users, provided it is used in accordance with the conditions of use and precautions contained on the label.

[0019] The product presentation includes primary packaging of 3.6 liter gallons in metal packaging in accordance with standard NBR 11564, and 900 ml cans in metal packaging, also in accordance with standard NBR 11564.
[0054]
[0020] The varnish formulation is composed of lambda-cyhalothrin as the active ingredient, with a purity level equal to or greater than 97%.
[0055]
[0021] Lambda-cyhalothrin is a pyrethroid insecticide widely used to control insects such as mosquitoes and cockroaches. The microencapsulated formulation of this compound allows for a slow and gradual release of the insecticide, making the treated surface lethal to insects. Its action occurs primarily on the basal ganglia of the insect's central nervous system, acting on sodium channels in the axon membrane, decreasing and delaying sodium conductance inward and suppressing potassium efflux. This results in paralysis and death of the insects.
[0056]
[0022] The microencapsulated formulation offers significant advantages, as it allows for controlled release of the insecticide over time, increasing the product's effectiveness. Furthermore, microencapsulated lambda-cyhalothrin exhibits low toxicity to mammals, being readily absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract and via inhalation, but poorly absorbed through intact skin. Its rapid biotransformation and excretion via metabolites conjugated with glycine, glucuronic acid, and sulfates make its environmental impact and risk to human health relatively low.
[0057]
[0023] The efficacy of microencapsulated Iambdacyaiothrin has been proven in laboratory tests, demonstrating 100% mortality efficacy levels within 24 hours for the dengue mosquito (Aedes aegypti) and 82.50% within 72 hours for cockroaches (Periplaneta americana). Furthermore, the product's stability has been evaluated and proven, guaranteeing its efficacy throughout its intended shelf life.
[0058]
[0024] In summary, water-based insecticidal varnish represents an innovation in pest control, offering an effective, safe and low-toxicity solution for combating cockroaches and mosquitoes in residential, commercial and institutional environments.
[0059]
[0025] After application, the varnish takes 30 minutes to dry to the touch and 4 hours to dry completely, where finally we have a dry film. In this thin layer are found the Iambdacyaiothrin microcapsules which, when broken by contact of the insect on the surface, release the insecticide slowly and gradually, becoming lethal to insects after contact.
[0060]

[0061]
[0027] Having therefore described and illustrated the best embodiment currently contemplated for the realization of the present invention, numerous modifications and variations in its embodiment may be readily introduced by technicians and experts in the field. However, it is understood that the present invention is not limited to the practical aspects illustrated and described in this report, encompassing within its scope all obvious variations and modifications not described.
[0062]
[0028] Due to the advantages it offers and also because it is novel, has industrial application and inventive activity, it fulfills all the requirements and meets the necessary conditions to obtain an Invention Patent.
