Modern automobiles include, and are expected to include, interior comfort control systems. These systems include heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems that allow the user to select their desired interior temperature. However, such systems do not effectively prevent frost from forming on the windshield and windows. On the other hand, vehicles can be parked outdoors in the sun during warm weather.In these cases, the air temperature inside the vehicle's cabin can rise and cause discomfort for the vehicle's occupants. Under extreme conditions, the air temperature inside the vehicle's cabin can reach dangerously high levels, such as 70° Celsius. A recent study has shown that overheating in the passenger compartment, due to the flame retardants used in the cabin and its plastics, can cause cancer.

In vehicles with internal combustion engines, the engine's heat is typically used to heat an air stream. This hot air stream is then directed toward the windows. [0019] The present invention discloses a weather protection system for the windows (14), front windshield (16), and rear windshield (18) of a vehicle, incorporating at least two window panels (10), each panel (10) being installed on one of the vehicle's doors (12). The window panels (10) are positioned on the exterior of the vehicle's window panes (14) and are actuated by a first motor. This motor drives a mechanism that moves the window panels (10) from an initial position to a position that completely covers the window (14), either upwards or downwards, to protect the glass of each window (14). The window panels (10) also include a vertical extension (15) that allows them to contact the door handles (13) on the inside.
[0020] The window panels (10) consist of an outer sheet identical to the vehicle's sheet metal or could be made of fiberglass or carbon fiber, a plurality of resistors that produce heat to warm said sheet metal and an inner thermal insulator.
