Abstract

A lithium secondary battery 10 according to the present disclosure comprises: a positive electrode 16; a negative electrode 13; and an electrolyte disposed between the positive electrode 16 and the negative electrode 13. The positive electrode 16 contains Li2CO3 and a transition metal oxide not containing Li. Lithium ions generated by the decomposition of Li2CO3 in the initial charge of the lithium secondary battery 10 can be inserted into the transition metal oxide during discharge.
