[0018] The present disclosure relates to connected sling storage container systems and methods for operating the same. In particular, the systems and methods disclosed herein include a sling container system that is configured to minimize an amount of space that is consumed and allow users to quickly visualize availability of various sling types and sizes. Rather than resorting to conventional techniques of merely storing slings in a centralized space without a system for readily accessing an availability and / or a location thereof, and to also prevent storage areas from being unkempt, the systems and methods disclosed herein are configured to efficiently organize sling inventory and provide caregivers and / or other users assistance with information pertaining to whether a sling is missing to prevent contraindicated manual subject handling as well as real-time sling location tracking. In this manner, the systems and methods disclosed herein utilize a storage apparatus to store any number of slings in an efficient manner located closer to a point of use, such as nearer to a subject for whom a particular sling is to be used. In some embodiments, the storage apparatus can include a compression mechanism to compress the sling and occupy less space relative to conventional storage apparatuses. In certain embodiments, the storage apparatus can also be configured to be open at a lower portion to prevent the accumulation of debris, such as dust, dirt, and / or fluids, and to facilitate cleaning. Still further, the storage apparatus can have functionality beyond that of storing a sling, such as having any number of hooks for storing various items, including other items in addition to slings.
