[0002] The present disclosure relates to a foldable bed. In particular, the present disclosure relates to a foldable bed that is configured to stand on a floor, supported between a floor stand and a leg.
[0003] Folding sleeping accommodation is required in a variety of situations. For example, temporary sleeping accommodation may be required in a hotel room to increase the capacity of a room, or in a home when a guest stays over. For example, semi-permanent folding sleeping accommodation may be required in dormitories or micro apartments where useable daytime space is required.
[0004] The current options available for providing folding sleeping accommodation involve a number of drawbacks. Some folding sleeping accommodation lacks a rigid structure, such as a frame, when deployed, which can result in too much movement of the apparatus during use when the user moves. Some folding sleeping accommodation lacks a sufficiently soft and / or resilient sleep surface, which can result in an uncomfortable experience for a user lying on the sleep surface. Some folding sleeping accommodation is time consuming to deploy and / or dismantle when no longer needed. Some folding sleeping accommodation is difficult to store and transport.
[0005] It would be desirable to provide a bed which overcomes these challenges. In particular, it would be desirable to provide a bed that is straightforward and inexpensive to manufacture, assemble, deploy, retract, dismantle, store, and transport.
[0006] In accordance with the present disclosure, there is provided a foldable bed comprising: a bed frame, a floor stand, and a leg. The bed frame comprises: a first bed frame section; and a second bed frame section. The second bed frame section is rotatably coupled to the first bed frame section. The bed frame is movable between: a deployed configuration; and a retracted configuration. In the deployed configuration, the first bed frame section and the second bed frame section are arranged in a horizontal orientation, and together form a bed frame that is configured to support a mattress and a person lying on the mattress. In the retracted configuration, the first bed frame section and the second bed frame section are arranged in a vertical orientation. The foldable bed further comprises: a floor stand; and a leg. The floor stand comprises: an upper portion; and a lower portion. The upper portion of the floor stand is rotatably coupled to the first bed frame section. The lower portion of the floor stand is configured to stand on a floor of a room. The leg comprises: an upper portion; and a lower portion.
[0007] The upper portion of the leg is couplable to one of the first bed frame section and the second bed frame section. The lower portion of the leg is configured to stand on the floor of the room. When the bed frame is in the deployed configuration, the bed frame is supported on the floor of the room between the floor stand and the leg, at a desired height above the floor of the room. When the bed frame is in the retracted configuration, the bed frame is arranged above the lower portion of the floor stand and is supported on the floor of the room by the floor stand, at the desired height above the floor.

Claims
CLAIMS1. A foldable bed, the foldable bed comprising: a bed frame, wherein the bed frame comprises a first bed frame section and a second bed frame section, the second bed frame section being rotatably coupled to the first bed frame section, and wherein the bed frame is movable between: a deployed configuration, in which the first bed frame section and the second bed frame section are arranged in a horizontal orientation and together form a bed frame that is configured to support a mattress and a person lying on the mattress; and a retracted configuration, in which the first bed frame section and the second bed frame section are arranged in a vertical orientation, the foldable bed further comprising a floor stand, and at least one leg, wherein the floor stand comprises an upper portion and a lower portion, the upper portion of the floor stand being rotatably coupled to the first bed frame section, and the lower portion of the floor stand being configured to stand on a floor of a room; wherein the leg comprises an upper portion and a lower portion, the upper portion of the leg being couplable to one of the first bed frame section and the second bed frame section, and the lower portion of the leg being configured to stand on the floor of the room; wherein, when the bed frame is in the deployed configuration, the bed frame is supported on the floor of the room between the floor stand and the leg, at a desired height above the floor of the room; wherein, when the bed frame is in the retracted configuration, the bed frame is arranged above the lower portion of the floor stand and is supported on the floor of the room by the floor stand, at the desired height above the floor; and wherein, when the bed frame is in the retracted configuration, the top of the bed frame is exposed.
2. A foldable bed according to claim 1 , wherein, when the bed frame is in the retracted configuration, the top of the bed frame forms the top of the foldable bed.
3. A foldable bed according to claim 1 , wherein, when the bed frame is in the folded condition, at least a portion of a side of the bed frame are exposed.
4. A foldable bed according to claim 1 , wherein the floor stand comprises a pair of legs and a top panel extending between the pair of legs at the upper portion of the floor stand, and wherein the first bed frame section is rotatably coupled to the top panel.
5. A foldable bed according to claim 4, wherein the floor stand comprises a hook, and wherein the foldable bed further comprises a wall bracket configured to be mounted to a wall of the room, and to couple with the hook of the floor stand.
6. A foldable bed according to claim 1 , wherein the lower portion of the floor stand defines a storage region.
7. A foldable bed according to claim 6, wherein the lower portion of the floor stand comprises a shelf, and wherein the shelf defines a base of the storage region.
8. A foldable bed according to claim 6, wherein the lower portion of the floor stand comprises a storage container, and wherein the storage container defines the storage region.
9. A foldable bed according to claim 8, wherein the storage container comprises side panels extending between a base panel and a top panel, wherein the side panels, base panel, and top panel define the storage region.
10. A foldable bed according to claim 9, wherein the first bed frame section is rotatably coupled to the top panel.
11. A foldable bed according to claim 9, wherein an upper portion of the side panels extends above the top panel, and wherein the first bed frame section is rotatably coupled to the upper portion of the side panels.
12. A foldable bed according to claim 1 , wherein , when the bed frame is in the deployed configuration, the bed frame has a mattress receiving end configured to receive the mattress, and a base end opposite the mattress receiving end.
13. A foldable bed according to claim 12, wherein the first bed frame section and the second bed frame section are rotatably coupled together about an axis at the base end of the bed frame when the bed frame is in the deployed configuration.
14. A foldable bed according to claim 12, wherein the first bed frame section and the second bed frame section are rotatably coupled together about an axis at the mattress receiving end of the bed frame when the bed frame is in the deployed configuration.
15. A foldable bed according to claim 1, wherein the first bed frame section and the second bed frame section are rotatably coupled together by a hinge, the hinge comprising: a first hinge plate; a second hinge plate; and a linkage plate, the first hinge plate being pivotally coupled to the linkage plate at a first end, and the second hinge plate being pivotally coupled to the linkage plate at a second end.
16. A foldable bed according to claim 15, wherein when the bed frame is in the deployed configuration, the hinge does not extend beyond the bed frame.
17. A foldable bed according to claim 12, wherein the first bed frame section and the second bed frame section are rotatably coupled together by a hinge, the hinge comprising: a first hinge plate; a second hinge plate; and a linkage plate, the first hinge plate being pivotally coupled to the linkage plate at a first end, and the second hinge plate being pivotally coupled to the linkage plate at a second end, and wherein when the bed frame is in the deployed configuration, the hinge does not extend beyond the mattress receiving end of the bed frame and the hinge does not extend beyond the base end of the bed frame.
18. A foldable bed according to claim 12, wherein the foldable bed further comprises a mattress received at the mattress receiving end of the bed frame when the bed frame is in the deployed configuration.
19. A foldable bed according to claim 18, wherein the mattress comprises a first mattress section and a second mattress section, the first mattress section being received by the first bed frame section, and the second mattress section being received by the second bed frame section.
20. A foldable bed according to claim 19, wherein at least one of the first mattress section and the second mattress section is exposed when the bed frame is in the retracted configuration.
21. A foldable bed according to claim 19, wherein, when the bed frame is in the deployed configuration, the mattress forms a sleep surface configured to support a user lying on the foldable bed, wherein the first mattress section comprises a first section of the sleep surface and the second mattress section comprises a second section of the sleep surface, and wherein, when the bed frame is in the retracted configuration, at least one of the first section of the sleep surface and the second section of the sleep surface forms an outer surface of the foldable bed.
22. A foldable bed according to claim 12, wherein the leg is rotatably coupled to the base end of the bed frame.
23. A foldable bed according to claim 1, wherein the first bed frame section comprises a head end and a foot end, wherein the second bed frame section comprises a head end and a foot end, wherein the head end of the first bed frame section is rotatably coupled to the floor stand, and wherein the head end of the second bed frame section is rotatably coupled to the foot end of the first bed frame section.
24. A foldable bed according to claim 23, wherein the first bed frame section comprises a head end, a foot end, and sides extending between the head end and the foot end, wherein the second bed frame section comprises a head end and a foot end, wherein a side of the first bed frame section is rotatably coupled to the floor stand, and wherein the head end of the second bed frame section is rotatably coupled to the foot end of the first bed frame section.
25. A foldable bed according to claim 24, wherein the bed frame has a third bed frame section, wherein the third frame section has a head end and a foot end, wherein the foot end of the third frame section is rotatably coupled to the head end of the first bed frame section.
