The window may include a glass material such as ultra-thin glass (UTG) or a polymer material such as polyimide (PI).

[0028] In one embodiment, the foldable display (130) may form (or include) at least a portion of a first side (111) of the first housing part (110) (e.g., a front side of the first housing part (110)) and a third side (121) of the second housing part (120) (e.g., a front side of the second housing part (120)). The foldable display (130) may be disposed on the first side (111) of the first housing part (110) and the third side (121) of the second housing part (120) across a hinge structure (160) within a hinge cover (165). The foldable display (130) may be configured to bend within a folded state of the electronic device (101) by the hinge structure (160). The foldable display (130) may include a first display area (131), a second display area (132), and a third display area (133). For example, the foldable display (130) may include a first display area (131) disposed on a first surface (111) of a first housing, a second display area (132) disposed on a third surface (121) of a second housing, and a third display area (133) between the first display area (131) and the second display area (132). The foldable display (130) may be supported by a first bracket (170) of the first housing part (110) and a second bracket (180) of the second housing part (120).

[0029] According to one embodiment, the foldable display (130) may include an opening formed in a portion of the screen display area, or a support member (e.g., a bracket) that supports the foldable display (130) may include a recess or an opening. The electronic device (101) may include at least one camera aligned with the recess or the opening. For example, the first display area (131) may further include at least one camera (136) that can acquire an image from the outside through a portion of the first display area (131). According to one embodiment, at least one camera (136) may be included on the rear surface of the foldable display (130) corresponding to the first display area (131) or the second display area (132) of the foldable display (130). For example, the at least one camera (136) may be disposed below the foldable display (130) and may be surrounded by the foldable display (130). At least one camera (136) may be an under-display camera (UDC) that is covered by the foldable display (130) and is not exposed to the outside. However, the present invention is not limited thereto. For example, the foldable display (130) may include an opening that exposes at least one camera (136) to the outside. In one embodiment, the camera (136) may acquire images of the external environment and / or external objects through the opening.

[0030] In one embodiment, the fourth side (122) of the second housing part (120) may further include at least one camera (134) and display (135) exposed through a portion of the fourth side (122).

[0031] In one embodiment, the hinge structure (160) may be configured to pivotally connect a first bracket (170) forming a first housing part (110) and a second bracket (180) forming a second housing part (120).

[0032] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may be in one of a folded state, an unfolded state, or an intermediate state. In the folded state, the first surface (111) of the first housing part (110) and the third surface (121) of the second housing part (120) may face each other. In the folded state, the direction in which the first surface (111) faces and the direction in which the third surface (121) faces may be opposite to each other. In the unfolded state, the first surface (111) of the first housing part (110) and the third surface (121) of the second housing part (120) may be substantially continuous planes. In the unfolded state, the direction in which the first surface (111) faces and the direction in which the third surface (121) faces may be the same. The intermediate state may be a state between the unfolded state and the folded state. In the intermediate state, the direction in which the first side (111) faces and the direction in which the third side (121) faces may be different.

[0033] In one embodiment, while the electronic device (101) is in a folded state, the hinge cover (165) surrounding the hinge structure (160) may be at least partially exposed between the first housing part (110) and the second housing part (120). In another embodiment, while the electronic device (101) is in an unfolded state, the hinge cover (165) may be covered by the first housing part (110) and the second housing part (120).

[0034] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) can be folded about a folding axis (137) passing through the hinge cover (165) or the hinge structure (160). For example, the hinge structure (160) within the hinge cover (165) can be positioned between the first housing part (110) and the second housing part (120) of the electronic device (101) to enable the electronic device (101) to be bent, curved, or folded. For example, the first housing part (110) can be connected to the second housing part (120) through the hinge structure (160) positioned within the hinge cover (165) and can be rotated about the folding axis (137).

[0035] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) can be folded such that the first housing part (110) and the second housing part (120) face each other by rotating about the folding axis (137). In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) can be folded such that the first housing part (110) and the second housing part (120) cover or overlap each other.

[0036] The hinge structure (160) may include a hinge module and hinge plates (166, 167). The hinge module may include a hinge gear (162, 163) that enables the first housing part (110) and the second housing part (120) to pivot.

[0037] The first housing part (110) may include a first bracket (170), and the second housing part (120) may include a second bracket (180). The first bracket (170) may be partially surrounded by the first side wall (113), and the second bracket (180) may be partially surrounded by the second side wall (123). The first bracket (170) may be formed integrally with the first side wall (113), and the second bracket (180) may be formed integrally with the second side wall (123). According to one embodiment, the first bracket (170) may be formed separately from the first side wall (113), and the second bracket (180) may be formed separately from the second side wall (123). The first side wall (113) and the second side wall (123) may be formed of a metallic material, a non-metallic material, or a combination thereof. For example, the first side wall (113) may include a conductive portion (118) and a non-conductive portion (119). The conductive portion (118) may be used as a radiator of the antenna.

[0038] One side of the first bracket (170) can be coupled with the rear plate (190), and the other side of the first bracket (170) can be coupled with the foldable display (130). One side of the second bracket (180) can be coupled with the display (135), and the other side of the second bracket (180) can be coupled with the foldable display (130).

[0039] A printed circuit board (150) and a battery may be placed in the space between the surface formed by the first bracket (170) and the second bracket (180) and the surface formed by the display (135) and the rear plate (190). The printed circuit board (150) may be separated so that it may be placed in each of the first bracket (170) of the first housing part (110) and the second bracket (180) of the second housing part (120). Components for implementing various functions of the electronic device (101) may be placed on the printed circuit board (150).

[0040] FIG. 2 is a rear view of a foldable electronic device with the rear cover removed, according to one embodiment. FIG. 3 is an enlarged view of a portion of a foldable electronic device in which a connector is arranged, according to one embodiment.

[0041] Referring to FIGS. 2 and 3, the electronic device (101) may include a housing (102) and a connector (210).

[0042] The housing (102) may include a first housing part (110) and a second housing part (120). The first housing part (110) may be rotatably coupled to the second housing part (120). For example, the first housing part (110) may include an outer side wall (200) (e.g., the first side wall (113) of FIG. 1A) including conductive portions (201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207). The conductive portions (201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207) may be spaced apart from each other. For example, the second housing part (120) may include conductive portions corresponding to the first housing part (110).

[0043] At least one of the conductive portions (201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207) disposed in the first housing part (110) may function as an antenna radiator. One conductive portion (201) disposed at the lower end of the conductive portions (201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207) of the first housing part (110) may include an opening (301) for a connector (210). The electronic device (101), which is a foldable electronic device, may have a limited number of conductive portions that can operate as an antenna due to a hinge structure. Among the conductive portions, the conductive portion (201) may operate as an antenna radiator. A shielding structure may be required for the connector (210) that is connected to an external connector through the opening of the conductive portion (201) that operates as an antenna radiator.

[0044] The connector (210) can be connected to another external connector inserted through the opening (301). The connector (210) disposed at the lower end of the first housing part (110) can be electrically connected to a printed circuit board (150) disposed at the upper end of the first housing part (110) through a flexible printed circuit board (220). At least one processor including a processing circuit disposed on the printed circuit board (150) can process data received from another external connector or load data from an external electronic device or external storage device connected to the other connector through another connector. The flexible printed circuit board (220) can extend from the printed circuit board (150) to the lower end of the first housing part (110). For example, a flexible printed circuit board (220) may extend from a printed circuit board (150) across a battery (155) disposed within a first housing part (110) to another printed circuit board (290). The other printed circuit board (290) may be disposed at a lower portion of the first housing part (110). The battery (155) may be disposed between the printed circuit board (150) and the other printed circuit board (290). The printed circuit board (150) may be separated from the other printed circuit board (290) and the battery (155).

[0045] According to one embodiment, the flexible printed circuit board (220) may be divided into two branches extending from the printed circuit board (150) to the lower end of the first housing part (110). The flexible printed circuit board (220) may be divided into a first portion (221) in which a connector (210) is arranged and a second portion (222) connected to another printed circuit board (290). A connector (210) connectable to an external connector may be arranged at one end of the first portion (221) of the flexible printed circuit board (220). Although the connector (210) has been described as being arranged at one end of the first portion (221) of the flexible printed circuit board (220), the present disclosure is not limited thereto. For example, the connector (210) may be arranged on another printed circuit board (290).

[0046] In one embodiment, at least a portion of the connector (210) may be wrapped around a conductive ring (310). The conductive ring (310) may be electrically isolated from the conductive portion (201) that functions as an antenna radiator. The conductive ring (310) may be aligned with an opening (301) formed in the conductive portion (201).

[0047] The connector (210) can be connected to an external electronic device. For example, the connector (210) can be a USB (universal serial bus) connector or a C-type USB connector. In one embodiment, the connector (210) can omit the shell surrounding the connection terminal.

[0048] The connector (210) can reduce the thickness of the electronic device (101) by the thickness of the cell by omitting the cell surrounding the connection terminal of the connector (210). The conductive ring (310) included in the first housing part (110) can at least partially surround the connection terminal of the connector (210). The conductive ring (310) can perform the function of the cell by surrounding the connection terminal of the connector (210). For example, the conductive ring (310) can shield external noise introduced into the connection terminal of the connector (210). The conductive ring (310) can be connected to a conductive portion of the first housing part (110) that acts as a ground to reduce noise introduced into the connection terminal of the connector (210). The conductive ring (310) can partially wrap around the connection terminal of the connector (210) to reduce noise transmitted to the connection terminal of the connector (210) by wireless communication signals transmitted and received through the conductive portion (201).

[0049] According to one embodiment, the conductive ring (310) may be formed integrally with the conductive portion and the non-conductive portion of the first housing part (110) as a component of the first housing part (110). For example, the conductive ring (310) may be formed integrally with the first housing part (110) by injection molding the non-conductive portion of the first housing part (110). Since the conductive ring (310) acts as a cell of the connector (210), the connector (210) may omit the cell. By means of the connector (210) with the cell omitted, the thickness of the first housing part (110) may be reduced, and thus the thickness of the electronic device (101) may also be reduced.

[0050] FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of a portion of a foldable electronic device having a connector disposed thereon, according to one embodiment.

[0051] Referring to FIG. 4, the side wall of the first housing part (110) (e.g., the first side wall (113) of FIG. 1A) may include a conductive portion (201), a conductive ring (310), a first non-conductive portion (430), and a second non-conductive portion (440).

[0052] The challenging portion (201) may include an opening (301). The opening (301) may penetrate the first side wall (113).

[0053] The first non-conductive portion (430) may be positioned between the conductive ring (310) and the conductive portion (201). The first non-conductive portion (430) may include a hole (431) extending from the opening (301). The first non-conductive portion (430) may separate the conductive portion (201), which functions as an antenna radiator, from the conductive ring (310).

[0054] A conductive ring (310) may be disposed between a first non-conductive portion (430) and a second non-conductive portion (440). The conductive ring (310) may include a hole (311). The hole (311) of the conductive ring (310) may extend from the hole (431) of the first non-conductive portion (430). For example, the opening (301) of the conductive portion (201), the hole (311) of the conductive ring (310), and the hole (431) of the first non-conductive portion (430) may define a connector hole into which an external connector (499) can be inserted. The conductive ring (310) may be electrically isolated from the conductive portion (201) that operates as an antenna, and may be electrically connected to a ground of the electronic device (101). According to one embodiment, the conductive ring (310) can surround at least about 70% to 80% of the outer surface of the connection terminal (401) of the connector (210). The conductive ring (310) can surround the connection terminal (401) of the connector (210) and the plug of the external connector (499). The conductive ring (310) can induce coupling of an AC signal (e.g., an RF signal) with the external connector (499), thereby reducing noise transmitted to the connector (210) and the external connector (499).

[0055] For example, if the amount of overlap between the conductive ring (310) and the connector (210) and the external connector (499) increases, the capacitance value between them may increase. Depending on the increased capacitance value, surfaces formed of conductive materials may be coupled to RF signals. To increase the amount of overlap, the conductive ring (310) may be placed adjacent to the conductive case (420) of the connector (210). According to one embodiment, in order to secure the capacitance, the overlapping portion between the conductive ring (310) and the connection terminal (401) may be approximately 70% or more of the connection terminal (401) or the connection terminal (or plug) of the external connector (499). According to one embodiment, the overlapping portion between the conductive ring (310) and the connection terminal (401) of the connector (210) may be limited to approximately 80% or less in order to maintain a constant distance of the conductive portion (201) that operates as an antenna.

[0056] According to one embodiment, the conductive ring (310) may further include an insulating film on the inner surface of the hole (311) that comes into contact with the plug of the external connector (499). The insulating film may limit the electrical connection of the conductive ring (310) with the plug. When the conductive ring (310) is electrically connected with the plug, the surface of the conductive ring (310) may be corroded. For example, if the conductive ring (310) and the plug of the external connector (499) are in direct contact, corrosion may occur due to leakage current. The insulating film may physically limit the contact between the conductive ring (310) and the plug of the external connector (499). For example, the insulating film may be created by anodizing the inner surface of the hole (311) of the conductive ring (310).

[0057] According to one embodiment, the conductive ring (310) may extend into the interior of the electronic device to minimize the distance between the external connector (499) and a metal portion of the connector (210) (e.g., the case (420)) while the external connector (499) is coupled to the connector (210), or the distance between an end of the external connector (499) and a metal portion within the housing (e.g., a bracket or support portion within the housing). The connector (210) may further include a ring-shaped sealing member (450). The sealing member (450) may be configured to isolate the hole (311) of the conductive ring (310) that is connected through the connector hole from the interior of the electronic device (101). The sealing member (450) may be compressed by the end (441) of the second non-conductive portion (440) and the conductive case (420) of the connector (210). The sealing member (450) can be in contact with the second non-conductive portion (440) and the connector (210).

[0058] For example, the sealing member (450) may be disposed between the conductive case (420) of the connector (210) and the second non-conductive portion (440). The sealing member (450) may include an O-ring. Although the sealing member (450) is described as a component of the connector (210), it may include a member including an adhesive, tape, or sealing material disposed between the connector (210) and the second non-conductive portion (440). If the sealing member (450) is in direct contact with the conductive ring (310), the sealing member (450) may be torn by the sharp metal surface. For example, in order to reduce damage to the sealing member (450), the second non-conductive portion (440) may be disposed between the conductive ring (310) and the sealing member (450). The second non-conductive portion (440) may include a non-conductive material. The second non-conductive portion (440) may be referred to as a protective member in terms of protecting the sealing member (450). The second non-conductive portion (440) may include a polymer material. The second non-conductive portion (440) may be formed of the same material as the first non-conductive portion (430). The first fastening structure (601) and the second fastening structure (602) may include fastening holes for coupling with each other. The fastening hole may include threads formed on the inner surface. Through the first fastening structure (601) and the second fastening structure (602), the conductive ring (310) may be connected to the conductive case (420) of the connector (210), which is electrically connected to the ground of the electronic device.

[0070] Referring to FIG. 7, the conductive ring (310) can be arranged together with the conductive portions of the first housing part (110). The non-conductive portions are injected so that the conductive ring (310) can be substantially integrally joined with the bracket (170) and the conductive portion (201) of the first housing part (110). The conductive ring (310) (or the hole (311) of the conductive ring (310) can be aligned with the opening (301) of the conductive portion (201).

[0071] Referring to FIG. 8, a connection terminal (401) of a connector (210) can be inserted into a hole (311) of a conductive ring (310). A first fastening structure (601) and a second fastening structure (602) of the connector (210) can be arranged to overlap each other.
