[0002] A known absorbent article includes an absorbent core that absorbs and retains bodily fluids, a topsheet that is disposed on the skin-facing side of the absorbent core and that comes into contact with the wearer's skin when worn, and a pair of leakage-preventing cuffs that are disposed on both sides of the absorbent core in the longitudinal direction (the direction corresponding to the front-to-back direction of the wearer). Patent Documents 1 to 3 describe disposable diapers having such a configuration.

An absorbent article as claimed in claim 1 or 2, wherein the ventral portion has the high basis weight portion and a ventral low basis weight portion in which the absorbent core has a smaller basis weight than the high basis weight portion, the ventral low basis weight portion being located outward in the longitudinal direction from the high basis weight portion and adjacent to the high basis weight portion, and when worn, ventral folds formed by deformation of the portion of the topsheet located in the ventral low basis weight portion extend in the transverse direction on the skin-facing surface of the topsheet, and the dorsal folds are taller than the ventral folds.

4. The absorbent article according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the back-side pleats are present only in the back-side low basis weight portion.

5. The absorbent article according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the height of the back pleats is 1 mm or more.

6. The absorbent article according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the back pleats are convexly curved outward in the longitudinal direction in a plan view.

7. The absorbent article according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the back pleats are oriented such that the tips of the back pleats face the crotch portion.

8. An absorbent article as described in claim 1 or 2, comprising a core wrap sheet having a portion that contacts the skin-facing or non-skin-facing surface of the absorbent core, and the back pleats overlap with the core wrap sheet in a planar view.

9. The absorbent article according to claim 8, wherein the core wrap sheet is present within the back pleat.

10. The absorbent article according to claim 1 or 2, wherein a portion of the absorbent core located in the low back-side basis weight portion is present inside the back-side pleat.

11. The absorbent article according to claim 1 or 2, further comprising a back sheet disposed on the non-skin-facing side of the absorbent core, the back sheet being present within the back pleats.

12. An absorbent article as described in claim 1 or 2, comprising an absorbent main body including the top sheet and the absorbent core, and an outer body arranged on the non-skin-facing side of the absorbent main body, wherein the outer body is present inside the dorsal folds, and a disposal tape to be used when disposing of the absorbent article is fixed to the non-skin-facing side of the outer body in a portion that overlaps with the dorsal folds in a planar view.

13. The absorbent article according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the basis weight of the absorbent core in the back-side low basis weight portion is zero.
