[0045] The detailed description of the appended drawings is intended as a description of the preferred embodiments of the present disclosure and is not intended to represent the only form in which the present disclosure may be practiced. It should be understood that the same or equivalent functions may be accomplished by different embodiments that are intended to be encompassed within the spirit and scope of the present disclosure.

[0046] Reference will now be made in detail to some embodiments of the present disclosure, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings. To facilitate understanding, embodiments are provided under a specific network architecture (s) and new service scenarios, such as the 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) 5G NR or 6G, 3GPP LTE, and so on. It is contemplated that along with the development of network architectures and new service scenarios, all embodiments in the present disclosure are also applicable to similar technical problems; and moreover, the terminologies recited in the present disclosure may change, which should not affect the principles of the present disclosure.

[0047] LTM is a procedure in which a network equipment receives an L1 measurement report and / or layer 3 (L3) measurement report from a UE, and the network equipment changes the UE’s serving cell by a cell switch command. The present disclosure provides solutions for improving LTM operations. For example, dynamic change of L1 measurement and reporting configurations is supported. As described later, several issues are addressed to support this function.

[0048] FIG. 1 illustrates a schematic diagram of wireless communication system 100 in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0049] The wireless communication system 100 may include one or more NEs 102 (e.g., one or more BSs) , one or more UEs 104, and a core network (CN) 106. The wireless communication system 100 may support various radio access technologies. In some implementations, the wireless communication system 100 may be a 4G network, such as an LTE network or an LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network. In some other implementations, the wireless communication system 100 may be an NR network, such as a 5G network, a 5G-Advanced (5G-A) network, or a 5G ultra-wideband (5G-UWB) network. In other implementations, the wireless communication system 100 may be a combination of a 4G network and a 5G network, or other suitable radio access technology including Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 (Wi-Fi) , IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX) , and IEEE 802.20. The wireless communication system 100 may support radio access technologies beyond 5G, for example, 6G. Additionally, the wireless communication system 100 may support technologies, such as time division multiple access (TDMA) , frequency division multiple access (FDMA) , or code division multiple access (CDMA) , etc.

[0050] The one or more NEs 102 may be dispersed throughout a geographic region to form the wireless communication system 100. One or more of the NEs 102 described herein may be or include or may be referred to as a network node, a base station, a network element, a network function, a network entity, a radio access network (RAN) node, a NodeB, an eNodeB (eNB) , a next-generation NodeB (gNB) , or other suitable terminology. In some implementations, the one or more NEs 102 may include different types of BSs (e.g., macro BS, pico BS, femto BS, relay BS, etc. ) . These different types of BSs may have different transmit power levels and different coverage areas. For example, a macro BS may have a relatively high transmit power level, while pico BSs, femto BSs, and relay BSs may have a relatively low transmit power levels. In some embodiments of the present disclosure, an NE 102 may include a centralized unit (CU) and one or more distributed units (DUs) . An F1 interface may be established between the DU of NE 102 and the CU of NE 102.

[0051] An NE 102 and a UE 104 may communicate via a communication link, which may be a wireless or wired connection. For example, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may perform wireless communication (e.g., receive signaling, transmit signaling) over a Uu interface.

[0052] An NE 102 may provide a geographic coverage area for which the NE 102 may support services for one or more UEs 104 within the geographic coverage area. For example, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may support wireless communication of signals related to services (e.g., voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, etc. ) according to one or multiple radio access technologies. In some implementations, an NE 102 may be moveable, for example, a satellite associated with a non-terrestrial network (NTN) . In some implementations, different geographic coverage areas 112 associated with the same or different radio access technologies may overlap, but the different geographic coverage areas may be associated with a different NE 102.

[0053] The one or more UEs 104 may be dispersed throughout a geographic region of the wireless communication system 100. A UE 104 may include or may be referred to as a remote unit, a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a subscriber device, a transmitter device, a receiver device, or some other suitable terminology. In some implementations, the UE 104 may be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal, or a client, among other examples. Additionally, or alternatively, the UE 104 may be referred to as an Internet-of-Things (IoT) device, an Internet-of-Everything (IoE) device, or machine-type communication (MTC) device, among other examples.

[0054] A UE 104 may be able to support wireless communication directly with other UEs 104 over a communication link. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a device-to-device (D2D) communication link. In some implementations, such as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) deployments, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) deployments, or cellular-V2X deployments, the communication link 114 may be referred to as a sidelink. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a PC5 interface.

[0055] A relaying function based on a sidelink may be supported in the wireless communication system 100. For example, a UE 104 supporting sidelink communication may function as a relay node to extend the coverage of an NE 102 (e.g., a BS) . An out-of-coverage or in-coverage UE may communicate with a BS via a relay node (e.g., a relay UE) . In some implementations, a UE, which functions as a relay between another UE and a BS, may be referred to as a UE-to-network (U2N) relay.

[0056] An NE 102 may support communication with the CN 106, or with another NE 102, or both. For example, an NE 102 may interface with another NE 102 or the CN 106 through one or more backhaul links (e.g., S1, N2, N3 or another network interface) . In some implementations, the NE 102 may communicate with each other directly. In some other implementations, the NE 102 may communicate with each other indirectly (e.g., via the CN 106) . In some implementations, one or more NEs 102 may include subcomponents, such as an access network entity, which may be an example of an access node controller (ANC) . An ANC may communicate with the one or more UEs 104 through one or more other access network transmission entities, which may be referred to as radio heads, smart radio heads, or transmission-reception points (TRPs) .

[0057] The CN 106 may support user authentication, access authorization, tracking, connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The CN 106 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) , or a 5G core (5GC) , which may include a control plane entity that manages access and mobility (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME) , an access and mobility management function (AMF) ) functions and a user plane entity that routes packets or interconnects to external networks (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW), a Packet Data Network (PDN) gateway (P-GW) , or a user plane function (UPF)) . In some implementations, the control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management (e.g., data bearers, signal bearers, etc. ) for the one or more UEs 104 served by the one or more NEs 102 associated with the CN 106.

[0058] The CN 106 may communicate with a packet data network over one or more backhaul links (e.g., via an S1, N2, N3, or another network interface) . The packet data network may include an application server. In some implementations, one or more UEs 104 may communicate with the application server. A UE 104 may establish a session (e.g., a protocol data unit (PDU) session, or the like) with the CN 106 via an NE 102. The CN 106 may route traffic (e.g., control information, data, and the like) between the UE 104 and the application server using the established session (e.g., the established PDU session) . The PDU session may be an example of a logical connection between the UE 104 and the CN 106 (e.g., one or more network functions of the CN 106) .

[0059] In the wireless communication system 100, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may use resources of the wireless communication system 100 (e.g., time resources (e.g., symbols, slots, subframes, frames, or the like) or frequency resources (e.g., subcarriers, carriers) ) to perform various operations (e.g., wireless communication) . In some implementations, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support different resource structures. For example, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support different frame structures. In some implementations, such as in 4G, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support a single frame structure. In some other implementations, such as in 5G and among other suitable radio access technologies, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures (i.e., multiple frame structures) . The NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures based on one or more numerologies.

[0060] One or more numerologies may be supported in the wireless communication system 100, and a numerology may include subcarrier spacing and a cyclic prefix. A first numerology (e.g., μ=0) may be associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. In some implementations, the first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with the first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may utilize one slot per subframe. A second numerology (e.g., μ =1) may be associated with a second subcarrier spacing (e.g., 30 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A third numerology (e.g., μ=2) may be associated with a third subcarrier spacing (e.g., 60 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix or an extended cyclic prefix. A fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) may be associated with a fourth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 120 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A fifth numerology (e.g., μ=4) may be associated with a fifth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 240 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A sixth numerology (e.g., μ =5) may be associated with a sixth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 480 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A seventh numerology (e.g., μ=6) may be associated with a seventh subcarrier spacing (e.g., 960 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. For ambient IoT communication, additional numerologies (e.g., μ=-1 or μ =-2) may be introduced corresponding to 7.5 kHz or 3.75 kHz, respectively.

[0061] A time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to frames (also referred to as radio frames) . Each frame may have a duration, for example, a 10 millisecond (ms) duration. In some implementations, each frame may include multiple subframes. For example, each frame may include 10 subframes, and each subframe may have a duration, for example, a 1 ms duration. In some implementations, each frame may have the same duration. In some implementations, each subframe of a frame may have the same duration.

[0062] Additionally or alternatively, a time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to slots. For example, a subframe may include a number (e.g., quantity) of slots. The number of slots in each subframe may also depend on the one or more numerologies supported in the wireless communication system 100. For instance, the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth numerologies (i.e., μ=0, μ=1, μ=2, μ=3, μ=4) associated with respective subcarrier spacings (SCSs) of 15 kHz, 30 kHz, 60 kHz, 120 kHz, and 240 kHz may utilize a single slot per subframe, two slots per subframe, four slots per subframe, eight slots per subframe, and 16 slots per subframe, respectively. Each slot may include a number (e.g., quantity) of symbols (e.g., orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols) . In some implementations, the number (e.g., quantity) of slots for a subframe may depend on a numerology. For a normal cyclic prefix, a slot may include 14 symbols. For an extended cyclic prefix (e.g., applicable for 60 kHz subcarrier spacing) , a slot may include 12 symbols. The relationship between the number of symbols per slot, the number of slots per subframe, and the number of slots per frame for a normal cyclic prefix and an extended cyclic prefix may depend on a numerology. It should be understood that reference to a first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may be used interchangeably between subframes and slots.

[0063] In the wireless communication system 100, an electromagnetic (EM) spectrum may be split, based on frequency or wavelength, into various classes, frequency bands, frequency channels, etc. By way of example, the wireless communication system 100 may support one or multiple operating frequency bands, such as frequency range designations FR1 (410 MHz –7.125 GHz) , FR2 (24.25 GHz –52.6 GHz) , FR3 (7.125 GHz –24.25 GHz) , FR4 (52.6 GHz –114.25 GHz) , FR4a or FR4-1 (52.6 GHz –71 GHz) , and FR5 (114.25 GHz –300 GHz) . In some implementations, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may perform wireless communication over one or more of the operating frequency bands. In some implementations, FR1 may be used by the NEs 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for cellular communication traffic (e.g., control information, data) . In some implementations, FR2 may be used by the NEs 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for short-range, high data rate capabilities.

[0064] FR1 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least three numerologies) . For example, FR1 may be associated with a first numerology (e.g., μ =0) , which includes 15 kHz subcarrier spacing; a second numerology (e.g., μ =1) , which includes 30 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a third numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing. FR2 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least two numerologies) . For example, FR2 may be associated with a third numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) , which includes 120 kHz subcarrier spacing.

[0065] A UE 104 may include computing devices, such as desktop computers, laptop computers, personal digital assistants (PDAs) , tablet computers, smart televisions (e.g., televisions connected to the Internet) , set-top boxes, game consoles, security systems (including security cameras) , vehicle on-board computers, network devices (e.g., routers, switches, and modems) , or the like. According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, a UE 104 may include a portable wireless communication device, a smart phone, a cellular telephone, a flip phone, a device having a subscriber identity module, a personal computer, a selective call receiver, or any other device that is capable of sending and receiving communication signals on a wireless network. In some embodiments of the present disclosure, a UE 104 includes wearable devices, such as smart watches, fitness bands, optical head-mounted displays, or the like. Moreover, a UE 104 may be referred to as a subscriber unit, a mobile, a mobile station, a user, a terminal, a mobile terminal, a wireless terminal, a fixed terminal, a subscriber station, a user terminal, or a device, or described using other terminology used in the art. A UE 104 may communicate with an NE 102 (e.g., a BS) via uplink (UL) communication signals. An NE 102 may communicate with a UE 104 via downlink (DL) communication signals.

[0066] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may communicate over licensed spectrums, whereas in some other embodiments, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may communicate over unlicensed spectrums. The present disclosure is not intended to be limited to the implementation of any particular wireless communication system architecture or protocol. Persons skilled in the art should understand that as technology develops and advances, the terminologies described in the present disclosure may change, but should not affect or limit the principles and spirit of the present disclosure.

[0067] LTM is a procedure in which a network equipment (e.g., a BS such as a gNB) receives an L1 measurement report and / or L3 measurement report from a UE, and the network equipment (e.g., a BS) changes the UE’s serving cell by a cell switch command. The cell switch command may indicate an LTM candidate configuration that the network equipment previously prepared and provided to the UE through, for example, RRC signaling. Then, the UE switches to the target configuration according to the cell switch command.

[0068] Embodiments of the present disclosure provide solutions for improving LTM operations. In some embodiments, dynamic change of L1 measurement and reporting configurations is supported. For example, L1 measurement report related configurations can be dynamically activated or deactivated. Configuration methods and procedures for handling the dynamic change of L1 measurement report related configurations are provided. For example, methods for configuring an initial state of L1 measurement report related configurations and methods for indicating dynamic change of the configurations are provided. In addition, UE behavior for handling the dynamic change are also considered. More details on the embodiments of the present disclosure will be illustrated in the following text in combination with the appended drawings.

[0069] FIG. 2 illustrates exemplary procedure 200 related to dynamic L1 measurement and reporting configuration change in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. Details described in all of the foregoing embodiments of the present disclosure are applicable for the embodiments shown in FIG. 2.

[0070] Referring to FIG. 2, UE 204 may connect to (or access) BS 202. For example, UE 204 may access a cell of BS 202, which can be referred to as the "serving cell" of UE 204. In some embodiments, UE 204 may access the network via single connectivity (e.g., via master cell group (MCG) only) and BS 202 is associated with the MCG of UE 204. In some embodiments, UE 204 may access the network via multi-connectivity (e.g., via dual connectivity (DC) , that is via a MCG and a secondary cell group (SCG) ) . For example, in addition to BS 202, UE 204 may connect to another BS (denoted as BS #A) . In some examples, BS 202 and BS #A may be respectively associated with the MCG and SCG of UE 204, and thus may be respectively referred to as a master node (MN) and a secondary node (SN) of UE 204. In some examples, BS 202 and BS #A may be respectively associated with the SCG and MCG of UE 204, and thus may be respectively referred to as an SN and an MN of UE 204. In some embodiments, BS 202 may include a CU (e.g., CU 201 in FIG. 2) and at least one DU (e.g., DU 203 in FIG. 2) .

[0071] At 211, UE 204 may transmit UE capability information to BS 202 (e.g., DU 203) . In some examples, the UE capability information is transmitted in response to a request from BS 202. In some examples, the request for UE capability information may be transmitted from the MN and the UE capability information may be transmitted to the MN. In some examples, the request for UE capability information may be transmitted from the SN and the UE capability information may be transmitted to the SN.

[0072] In some embodiments, the UE capability information may include UE capability information associated with the activation of L1 measurement report related configurations. For example, the UE capability information may include one or more of: an indication of whether UE 204 supports activation or deactivation of a report configuration; an indication of whether UE 204 supports activation or deactivation of a resource configuration; an indication of whether UE 204 supports activation or deactivation of a resource set; and an indication of whether UE 204 supports activation or deactivation of an LTM candidate for L1 measurement.

[0073] In some examples, the above indications may be carried in a MAC CE. In some examples, a configuration can be identified by its ID. In some embodiments, the UE capability information may include one or more of: an indication of whether UE 204 supports activation or deactivation of a report configuration ID via a MAC CE; an indication of whether UE 204 supports activation or deactivation of a resource configuration ID via a MAC CE; an indication of whether UE 204 supports activation or deactivation of a resource set ID via a MAC CE; and an indication of whether UE 204 supports activation or deactivation of an LTM candidate ID via a MAC CE.

[0074] In some embodiments, the resource set may include a SSB resource set or a CSI-RS resource set.

[0075] At 213, CU 201 may transmit configurations for UE 204 to DU 203. In some examples, CU 201 and DU 203 may be the CU and DU of the MN. In some examples, CU 201 and DU 203 may be the CU and DU of the SN.

[0076] In some embodiments, CU 201 may transmit L1 measurement report related configurations to DU 203. For example, the L1 measurement report related configurations may include a resource configuration and a report configuration. For example, CU 201 may transmit all L1 measurement configurations to DU 203. In some embodiments, DU 203 may or may not change the configurations received from CU 201 and then transmit the configurations to UE 204 via, for example, RRC signaling, at 215. For example, DU 203 may directly transmit the received configurations to UE 204. For example, DU 203 may change the state (e.g., activated or deactivated) of a certain configuration and transmit the changed configuration to UE 204. DU 203 may or may not inform CU 201 of the change.

[0077] In some embodiments, if the report configurations can be activated or deactivated (e.g., activation or deactivation of report configuration is supported at UE 204) , CU 201 may transmit all configured report configurations to DU 203. In some embodiments, if the resource configurations can be activated or deactivated (e.g., activation or deactivation of resource configuration is supported at UE 204) , CU 201 may transmit all configured resource configurations to DU 203. This principle can be applied to other configurations. For example, if activation or deactivation of resource set for L1 measurement or activation or deactivation of LTM candidate for L1 measurement is supported at UE 204, CU 201 may transmit all configured resource sets or LTM candidates to DU 203. In some embodiments, CU 201 may update the configurations after transmission and may synchronize the updates with DU 203.

[0078] In some embodiments, the resource configuration may indicate a resource configuration ID, and one resource configuration ID may be related to one or more resource sets. In some embodiments, at least one of the one or more resource sets may be activated for the corresponding resource configuration ID (or for the corresponding resource configuration) .

[0079] For example, the resource configuration may define one or more resource sets with each resource set including one or more CSI resources for one or more LTM candidate configurations. For example, one resource configuration ID may be configured for one or more SSB resource sets (e.g., LTM-SSB-ResourceSet as specified in 3GPP specifications) or one or more CSI-RS resource sets (e.g., LTM-CSI-RS-ResourceSet as specified in 3GPP specifications) . Each SSB or CSI-RS resource set may include SSB or CSI-RS resources from different LTM candidate cells (e.g., LTM-CandidateId as specified in 3GPP specifications) . In some examples, the number of SSBs for each SSB resource set may not exceed a maximum number (e.g., 512) . In some examples, the number of CSI-RSs for each CSI-RS resource set may not exceed a maximum number (e.g., 512) .

[0080] In some embodiments, the report configuration may indicate a report configuration ID, and one report configuration ID may be related to one or more resource configuration IDs. In some embodiments, one of the one or more resource configuration IDs may be activated for the corresponding report configuration ID (or for the corresponding report configuration) .

[0081] For example, the report configuration (e.g., LTM-CSI-ReportConfig as specified in 3GPP specifications) may be used to configure a CSI report on the cell in which the report configuration is included when the report type is configured as "periodic" , "semi-persistentOnPUCCH" , "semi-persistentOnPUSCH" or "aperiodic" . The report configuration may also be used to configure an event-triggered measurement report when the report type is configured as "eventTriggered" . For this type, the report configuration may further specify the criteria for triggering the measurement report by, for example, a MAC CE. Each report configuration may be configured with an ID (e.g., LTM-CSI-ReportConfigId as specified in 3GPP specifications) . In some embodiments, one report configuration ID may be related to one or more resource configurations (e.g., one or more CSI-ResourceConfigIds) .

[0082] In some embodiments, the number of resource configurations may not exceed a maximum number. For example, the number of "LTM-CSI-ResourceConfigId" (this ID can identify a resource configuration for L1 measurement and may be specified in 3GPP specifications) may not exceed 112. In some embodiments, the number of report configurations may not exceed a maximum number. For example, the number of "LTM-CSI-ReportConfigId" may not exceed 48. Similarly, in some embodiments, the number of resource sets or the number of LTM candidates may not exceed a respective maximum number.

[0083] In some embodiments, the L1 measurement report related configurations may indicate the state (e.g., activated or deactivated) of a corresponding configuration. For example, the L1 measurement report related configurations may indicate one or more of: an activated or deactivated state of each report configuration for UE 204; an activated or deactivated state of each resource configuration for UE 204; an activated or deactivated state of each resource set for UE 204; and an activated or deactivated state of each LTM candidate for UE 204. For example, CU 201 may indicate an initial state for a corresponding L1 measurement report related configuration. DU 203 may determine whether to change or maintain the initial state based on, for example, the L1 measurement report, L3 measurement report, or both. For example, DU 203 can activate or deactivate an L1 measurement report related configuration for UE 204 via a MAC CE. In some embodiments, the MAC CE is included in a MAC PDU, which may include at most one MAC CE for activation or deactivation of L1 measurement report related configurations. In other words, a maximum of one MAC CE for activation or deactivation of L1 measurement report related configurations is supported in a MAC PDU.

[0084] For example, an activated or deactivated state may be indicated for each "LTM-CSI-ReportConfigId" , an activated or deactivated state may be indicated for each "LTM-CSI-ResourceConfigId" , an activated or deactivated state may be indicated for each "LTM-SSB-ResourceSet" , an activated or deactivated state may be indicated for each "LTM-CSI-RS-ResourceSet" , or an activated or deactivated state may be indicated for each "LTM-CandidateId" .

[0085] At 215, UE 204 may receive the L1 measurement report related configurations from BS 202. For example, UE 204 may receive the configurations from the MN. For example, when the SCG is configured, UE 204 may receive the L1 measurement report related configurations from the SN for the purpose of SCG LTM.

[0086] At 217, BS 202 (e.g., DU 203) may receive an L1 measurement report, an L3 measurement report or both from UE 204. BS 202 may determine to activate or deactivate at least one L1 measurement report related configuration (e.g., activate or deactivate at least one LTM-CSI-ReportConfigId, an LTM-CSI-ResourceConfigId, a resource set ID or an LTM candidate cell ID) and may transmit an indication (denoted as indication #A) to activate or deactivate the at least one L1 measurement report related configuration to UE 204.

[0087] For example, DU 203 may, at 219, make the decision to activate or deactivate at least one L1 measurement report related configuration based on the measurement results from UE 204, and may transmit indication #A to UE 204 at 231. In some embodiments, DU 203 may inform another BS (not shown in FIG. 2 and denoted as BS #B) of indication #A. For example, BS #B may be a BS associated with an LTM cell switch command for UE 204. For example, BS #B may be the target BS (e.g., CU or DU of the target BS) of an LTM cell switch command to be transmitted to UE 204. In some embodiments, DU 203 may not inform BS #B of indication #A.

[0088] For example, based on the measurement results from UE 204, DU 203 may determine and transmit an indication (denoted as indication #B) for activating or deactivating one or more L1 measurement report related configurations to BS #B, which may determine indication #A. For example, DU 203 may transmit indication #B to the CU of BS #B via CU 201. For example, indication #B may be used to activate or deactivate one or more LTM-CSI-ReportConfigIds, one or more LTM-CSI-ResourceConfigIds, one or more resource set IDs or one or more LTM candidate cell IDs. BS #B may make a selection from the above activation or deactivation.

[0089] At 231, DU 203 may transmit indication #A to UE 204 via a MAC CE or the downlink control information (DCI) . Alternatively, the activation or deactivation of the L1 measurement report related configuration (s) may be achieved by using both the MAC CE and DCI. For example, a MAC CE may be used to activate three configurations and a DCI may be used to confirm that one, two or three of the three configurations are activated. In some embodiments, a MAC CE is included in a MAC PDU, which may include at most one MAC CE for activation or deactivation of L1 measurement report related configurations.

[0090] In some embodiments, if an activated L1 measurement report configuration is indicated as activated by indication #A or the MAC CE, UE 204 may maintain the corresponding timer associated with the time-to-trigger (TTT) parameter without resetting (i.e., not resetting the timer) . Alternatively, UE 204 may reset the TTT timer in response to receiving the MAC CE.

[0091] Various methods may be employed to implement indication #A in a MAC CE.

[0092] In some embodiments, indication #A may include a bitmap-based indicator.

[0093] For example, the bitmap may have a size based on a maximum number of a corresponding configuration (or a maximum number of a corresponding configuration ID) . For example, indication #A may include a bitmap having a size based on a maximum number of L1 measurement report configurations. For example, assuming that there are a maximum of 48 LTM-CSI-ReportConfigIds, the MAC CE may include 48 bits for each of the 48 LTM-CSI-ReportConfigIds, which may or may not be configured for UE 204. For example, indication #A may include a bitmap having a size based on a maximum number of L1 resource configurations. For example, assuming that there are a maximum of 112 LTM-CSI-ResourceConfigIds, the MAC CE may include 112 bits for each of the 112 LTM-CSI-ResourceConfigIds, which may or may not be configured for UE 204. For example, indication #A may include a bitmap having a size based on a maximum number of resource sets (e.g., a maximum number of resource set IDs) . For example, indication #A may include a bitmap having a size based on a maximum number of LTM candidates (e.g., a maximum number of LTM candidate IDs) .

[0094] For example, the bitmap may have a size based on the number of configurations (or the number of configuration IDs) actually configured for UE 204 by BS 202. For example, indication #A may include a bitmap with each bit corresponding to one L1 measurement report configuration configured for UE 204. For example, assuming that the number of report configuration IDs configured for UE 204 is 16, the MAC CE may include 16 bits for each of the configured report configurations. For example, indication #A may include a bitmap with each bit corresponding to one L1 resource configuration configured for UE 204. For example, assuming that the number of resource configuration IDs configured for UE 204 is 24, the MAC CE may include 24 bits for each of the configured resource configurations. For example, indication #A may include a bitmap with each bit corresponding to one resource set configured for UE 204. For example, indication #A may include a bitmap with each bit corresponding to one LTM candidate configured for UE 204.

[0095] For example, the bitmap may have a size based on the number of configurations with a deactivated state (or the number of configuration IDs with a deactivated state) at UE 204. For example, indication #A may include a bitmap with each bit corresponding to one deactivated L1 measurement report configuration configured for UE 204. For example, assuming that the number of report configuration IDs configured for UE 204 is 16 and 10 out of the 16 configurations are deactivated, the MAC CE may include 10 bits for each of the deactivated report configurations. For example, indication #A may include a bitmap with each bit corresponding to one deactivated L1 resource configuration configured for UE 204. For example, assuming that the number of resource configuration IDs configured for UE 204 is 24 and 14 out of the 24 configurations are deactivated, the MAC CE may include 14 bits for each of the deactivated resource configurations. For example, indication #A may include a bitmap with each bit corresponding to one deactivated resource set configured for UE 204. For example, indication #A may include a bitmap with each bit corresponding to one deactivated LTM candidate configured for UE 204.

[0096] For example, the bitmap may have a size based on the number of configurations with an activated state (or the number of configuration IDs with an activated state) at UE 204. For example, indication #A may include a bitmap with each bit corresponding to one activated L1 measurement report configuration configured for UE 204. For example, assuming that the number of report configuration IDs configured for UE 204 is 16 and 6 out of the 16 configurations are activated, the MAC CE may include 6 bits for each of the activated report configurations. For example, indication #A may include a bitmap with each bit corresponding to one activated L1 resource configuration configured for UE 204. For example, assuming that the number of resource configuration IDs configured for UE 204 is 24 and 10 out of the 24 configurations are activated, the MAC CE may include 10 bits for each of the activated resource configurations. For example, indication #A may include a bitmap with each bit corresponding to one activated resource set configured for UE 204. For example, indication #A may include a bitmap with each bit corresponding to one activated LTM candidate configured for UE 204.

[0097] In some embodiments, indication #A may include an indicator to indicate whether indication #A (i.e., the MAC CE) is used for activation or deactivation. For example, the indicator may include at least one bit and may be a field in the MAC CE (e.g., the length of the field is at least one 1 bit) . The value of "0" of the indicator may indicate that indication #A (i.e., the MAC CE) is used for activation and the value "1" of the indicator may indicate that indication #A (i.e., the MAC CE) is used for of or deactivation; or vice versa. For example, when the indicator indicates that indication #A (i.e., the MAC CE) is used for activation of the L1 measurement configurations or resources, indication #A may include the bitmap with each bit corresponding to one deactivated L1 measurement report configuration configured for UE 204. For example, when the indicator indicates that indication #A (i.e., the MAC CE) is used for deactivation of the L1 measurement configurations or resources, indication #A may include the bitmap with each bit corresponding to one activated L1 measurement report configuration configured for UE 204.

[0098] In some embodiments, indication #A (i.e., the MAC CE) may indicate the ID of each of the at least one configuration to be activated or deactivated. For example, one or more configuration IDs can be included in the MAC CE. In some embodiments, the number of IDs in the MAC CE may be configurable or fixed (e.g., predefined as 1 or 8) .

[0099] For example, indication #A (i.e., the MAC CE) may include the ID of each of the at least one report configuration to be activated or deactivated. Each report configuration ID may have a size of 6 bits. For example, indication #A (i.e., the MAC CE) may include the ID of each of the at least one resource configuration to be activated or deactivated. For example, indication #A (i.e., the MAC CE) may include the ID of each of the at least one resource set to be activated or deactivated. For example, indication #A (i.e., the MAC CE) may include the ID of each of the at least one LTM candidate to be activated or deactivated. For example, indication #A (i.e., the MAC CE) may include any combination of the above mentioned IDs.

[0100] In response to receiving indication #A, UE 204 may update the configurations for L1 measurement at 233. For example, UE 204 may update the L1 measurement report related configurations received at 215 based on indication #A. UE 204 may perform L1 measurement and reporting based on the updated configurations. In some embodiments, UE 204 may determine whether to trigger an L1 measurement report based on the updated configurations.

[0101] In some embodiments, after the MAC entity of UE 204 receives the MAC CE carrying indication #A, the MAC entity may transmit indication #A (e.g., information about which configuration (s) or ID (s) is activated or deactivated) to a low layer (e.g., the physical layer) of UE 204. In this way, the updated configurations can be used for an L1 measurement and reporting. In some embodiments, the MAC entity of UE 204 may transmit indication #A (e.g., information about which configuration (s) or ID (s) is activated or deactivated) to a high layer (e.g., the RRC layer) of UE 204. UE 204 may perform L1 measurement and reporting based on the updated L1 measurement report related configurations.

[0102] At 235, BS 202 (e.g., DU 203) may transmit an LTM cell switch command (e.g., via a MAC CE) related to a target cell or target BS (e.g., BS #B) to trigger LTM based on an L1 measurement report from UE 204. UE 204 may be triggered to perform a cell switch in response to receiving the LTM cell switch command. In some embodiments, BS 202 may transmit the states (e.g., activated or deactivated) of the L1 measurement report related configurations for UE 204 to the target BS (e.g., BS #B) to support subsequent LTM.

[0103] It should be appreciated by persons skilled in the art that the sequence of the operations in exemplary procedure 200 may be changed and that some of the operations in exemplary procedure 200 may be eliminated or modified, without departing from the spirit and scope of the disclosure.

[0104] FIG. 3 illustrates exemplary procedure 300 related to dynamic L1 measurement and reporting configuration change in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. Details described in all of the foregoing embodiments of the present disclosure are applicable for the embodiments shown in FIG. 3.

[0105] Referring to FIG. 3, UE 304 may connect to (or access) BS 302. For example, UE 304 may access a cell of BS 302, which can be referred to as the "serving cell" of UE 304. In some embodiments, UE 304 may access the network via single connectivity (e.g., via MCG only) and BS 302 is associated with the MCG of UE 304. In some embodiments, UE 304 may access the network via multi-connectivity (e.g., via DC, that is via a MCG and a SCG) . For example, in addition to BS 302, UE 304 may connect to another BS (denoted as BS #A1) . In some examples, BS 302 and BS #A1 may be respectively associated with the MCG and SCG of UE 304, and thus may be respectively referred to as an MN and an SN of UE 304. In some examples, BS 302 and BS #A1 may be respectively associated with the SCG and MCG of UE 304, and thus may be respectively referred to as an SN and an MN of UE 304. In some embodiments, BS 302 may include a CU (e.g., CU 301 in FIG. 3) and at least one DU (e.g., DU 303 in FIG. 3) .

[0106] At 311, UE 304 may transmit UE capability information to BS 302. In some examples, the UE capability information is transmitted in response to a request from BS 302. In some examples, the request for UE capability information may be transmitted from the MN and the UE capability information may be transmitted to the MN. In some examples, the request for UE capability information may be transmitted from the SN and the UE capability information may be transmitted to the SN. The descriptions of the UE capability information mentioned with respect to FIG. 2 can apply here and are thus omitted here.

[0107] At 313, CU 301 may transmit configurations for UE 304 to DU 303. In some examples, CU 301 and DU 303 may be the CU and DU of the MN. In some examples, CU 301 and DU 303 may be the CU and DU of the SN.

[0108] In some embodiments, CU 301 may transmit L1 measurement report related configurations to DU 303. For example, the L1 measurement report related configurations may include a resource configuration and a report configuration. For example, CU 301 may transmit all L1 measurement configurations to DU 303. In some embodiments, DU 303 may or may not change the configurations received from CU 301 and then transmit the configurations to UE 304 via, for example, RRC signaling, at 315. For example, DU 303 may directly transmit the received configurations to UE 304. For example, DU 303 may change the state (e.g., activated or deactivated) of a certain configuration and transmit the changed configuration to UE 304. DU 303 may or may not inform CU 301 of the change. In some examples, UE 304 may receive the L1 measurement report related configurations from the MN. In some examples, when the SCG is configured, UE 304 may receive the L1 measurement report related configurations from the SN for the purpose of SCG LTM.

[0109] In some embodiments, the resource configuration may indicate a resource configuration ID, and one resource configuration ID may be related to one or more resource sets. In some embodiments, one of the one or more resource sets may be activated for the corresponding resource configuration ID (or for the corresponding resource configuration) .

[0110] In some embodiments, the report configuration may indicate a report configuration ID, and one report configuration ID may be related to one or more resource configuration IDs. In some embodiments, one of the one or more resource configuration IDs may be activated for the corresponding report configuration ID (or for the corresponding report configuration) .

[0111] In some embodiments, the L1 measurement report related configurations may indicate the state (e.g., activated or deactivated) of a corresponding configuration. For example, the L1 measurement report related configurations may indicate one or more of: an activated or deactivated state of each report configuration for UE 304; an activated or deactivated state of each resource configuration for UE 304; an activated or deactivated state of each resource set for UE 304; and an activated or deactivated state of each LTM candidate for UE 304. For example, CU 301 may indicate an initial state for a corresponding L1 measurement report related configuration. DU 303 may determine whether to change or maintain the initial state based on, for example, the L1 measurement report, L3 measurement report, or both. For example, DU 303 can activate or deactivate an L1 measurement report related configuration for UE 304 via a MAC CE. In some embodiments, the MAC CE is included in a MAC PDU, which may include at most one MAC CE for activation or deactivation of L1 measurement report related configurations.

[0112] The descriptions of the L1 measurement report related configurations, the resource configuration and the report configuration in the foregoing embodiments (e.g., with respect to FIG. 2) can apply here and are thus omitted here. The descriptions with respect to operations 213 and 215 in FIG. 2 can apply to operation 313 and 315 and are thus omitted here.

[0113] At 317, BS 302 (e.g., DU 303) may receive an L1 measurement report, an L3 measurement report or both from UE 304. BS 302 may determine to activate or deactivate at least one L1 measurement report related configuration (e.g., activate or deactivate at least one LTM-CSI-ReportConfigId, an LTM-CSI-ResourceConfigId, a resource set ID or an LTM candidate cell ID) and may transmit an indication (denoted as indication #A1) to activate or deactivate the at least one L1 measurement report related configuration to UE 304.

[0114] For example, DU 303 may, at 319, make the decision to activate or deactivate at least one L1 measurement report related configuration based on the measurement results from UE 304, and may transmit indication #A1 to UE 304 at 331. In some embodiments, DU 303 may inform another BS (not shown in FIG. 3 and denoted as BS #B1) of indication #A1. For example, BS #B1 may be a BS associated with an LTM cell switch command for UE 304. For example, BS #B1 may be the target BS (e.g., CU or DU of the target BS) of an LTM cell switch command to be transmitted to UE 304. In some embodiments, DU 303 may not inform BS #B1 of indication #A1.

[0115] For example, based on the measurement results from UE 304, DU 303 may determine and transmit an indication (denoted as indication #B1) for activating or deactivating one or more L1 measurement report related configurations to BS #B1, which may determine indication #A1. For example, DU 303 may transmit indication #B1 to the CU of BS #B1 via CU 301. For example, indication #B1 may be used to activate or deactivate one or more LTM-CSI-ReportConfigIds, one or more LTM-CSI-ResourceConfigIds, one or more resource set IDs or one or more LTM candidate cell IDs. BS #B1 may make a selection from the above activation or deactivation.

[0116] At 331, DU 303 may transmit indication #A1 to UE 304 via a MAC CE or a DCI.

[0117] Various methods may be employed to implement indication #A1 in a MAC CE. For example, the descriptions of indication #A in the foregoing embodiments can be applied to indication #A1 and are thus omitted here.

[0118] In some embodiments, after the MAC entity of UE 304 receives the MAC CE carrying indication #A1, the MAC entity of UE 304 may transmit indication #A1 (e.g., information about which configuration (s) or ID (s) is activated or deactivated) to a low layer (e.g., the physical layer) or a high layer (e.g., the RRC layer) of UE 304 at 333. UE 304 may update the configurations for L1 measurement stored at UE 304 based on indication #A1. UE 304 may perform L1 measurement and reporting based on the updated configurations. In some embodiments, UE 304 may determine whether to trigger an L1 measurement report based on the updated configurations.

[0119] In some embodiments, indication #A1 may indicate to deactivate a report configuration (denoted as report configuration #A1) . In the context of the present disclosure, activating (or deactivating) a configuration may be used interchangeably with activating (or deactivating) the ID of the configuration. In some embodiments, there may be a periodic L1 measurement reporting (denoted as periodic reporting #A1) that is associated with report configuration #A1 running on UE 304 when indication #A1 is received. UE 304 needs to handle the ongoing periodic reporting #A1 in response to receiving indication #A1. In some embodiments, there may be a pending MR MAC CE that is associated with report configuration #A1. UE 304 needs to handle the pending MR MAC CE. Details will be described in the following text.

[0120] In some embodiments, periodic reporting #A1 may be an event-triggered periodic measurement reporting. Report configuration #A1 (or the ID of report configuration #A1) may be related to an event or an even ID. That is, periodic reporting #A1 may be triggered by the fulfilment of the event, which can be identified by the event ID. In some embodiments, periodic reporting #A1 may be an ordinary periodic L1 measurement reporting.

[0121] In some embodiments, report configuration #A1 may indicate: a report interval, defining the periodicity of the corresponding periodic measurement report; and a report amount, defining the number of measurement reports needs to be transmitted after the event is triggered or the reporting is triggered. For example, for the report amount, the value of 'r2'means that the report is sent twice, and the value of 'r3'means that the report is sent three times, and so on.

[0122] In some embodiments, UE 304 may stop the ongoing periodic reporting #A1 and / or may deactivate report configuration #A1 (or the ID of report configuration #A1) in response to receiving indication #A1 (e.g., upon receiving indication #A1 or immediately after receiving indication #A1) . That is, the deactivation state may apply immediately. In some embodiments, UE 304 may continue the ongoing periodic reporting #A1 until the report amount is reached. UE 304 may deactivate report configuration #A1 (or the ID of report configuration #A1) in response to reaching the report amount.

[0123] In some embodiments, an L1 measurement report associated with report configuration #A1 (or the ID of report configuration #A1) may be triggered in response to the fulfilment of an event. UE 304 may transmit the L1 measurement report via an MR MAC CE. The MR MAC CE may be included in a MAC PDU. Specifically, the MAC PDU may include at least one MAC subPDU, which may include one or more of the following: a MAC subheader only (including padding) ; a MAC subheader and a MAC service data unit (SDU) ; a MAC subheader and a MAC CE, or a MAC subheader and padding. For example, the MAC PDU may include a MAC subPDU including the MR MAC CE and a corresponding MAC subheader. In some examples, MAC PDU assembly can happen at any time point, for example, between an uplink grant reception and the actual transmission of the corresponding MAC PDU. In some examples, buffer status report (BSR) and scheduling request (SR) can be triggered after the assembly of a MAC PDU which includes a BSR MAC CE, but before the transmission of this MAC PDU.

[0124] In some embodiments, when indication #A1 deactivating report configuration #A1 is received, the MR MAC CE associated with report configuration #A1 may still be pending at UE 304. In some embodiments, in response to receiving indication #A1, UE 304 may discard the MR MAC CE or the MAC sub-PDU including the MR MAC CE. In some embodiments, in response to receiving indication #A1, UE 304 may continue to transmit the MR MAC CE or continue to transmit the MAC subPDU including the MR MAC CE.

[0125] It should be appreciated by persons skilled in the art that the sequence of the operations in exemplary procedure 300 may be changed and that some of the operations in exemplary procedure 300 may be eliminated or modified, without departing from the spirit and scope of the disclosure.

[0126] FIG. 4 illustrates exemplary procedure 400 related to dynamic L1 measurement and reporting configuration change in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. Details described in all of the foregoing embodiments of the present disclosure are applicable for the embodiments shown in FIG. 4.

[0127] Referring to FIG. 4, UE 404 may connect to (or access) BS 402. For example, UE 404 may access a cell of BS 402, which can be referred to as the "serving cell" of UE 404. In some embodiments, UE 404 may access the network via single connectivity (e.g., via MCG only) and BS 402 is associated with the MCG of UE 404. In some embodiments, UE 404 may access the network via multi-connectivity (e.g., via DC, that is via a MCG and a SCG) . For example, in addition to BS 402, UE 404 may connect to another BS (denoted as BS #A2) . In some examples, BS 402 and BS #A2 may be respectively associated with the MCG and SCG of UE 404, and thus may be respectively referred to as an MN and an SN of UE 404. In some examples, BS 402 and BS #A2 may be respectively associated with the SCG and MCG of UE 404, and thus may be respectively referred to as an SN and an MN of UE 404. In some embodiments, BS 402 may include a CU (e.g., CU 401 in FIG. 4) and at least one DU (e.g., DU 403 in FIG. 4) .

[0128] At 411, UE 404 may transmit UE capability information to BS 402. In some examples, the UE capability information is transmitted in response to a request from BS 402.

[0129] At 413, CU 401 may transmit configurations for UE 404 to DU 403. In some examples, CU 401 and DU 403 may be the CU and DU of the MN. In some examples, CU 401 and DU 403 may be the CU and DU of the SN.

[0130] In some embodiments, CU 401 may transmit L1 measurement report related configurations to DU 403. For example, the L1 measurement report related configurations may include a resource configuration and a report configuration. For example, CU 401 may transmit all L1 measurement configurations to DU 403. In some embodiments, DU 403 may or may not change the configurations received from CU 401 and then transmit the configurations to UE 404 via, for example, RRC signaling, at 415. For example, DU 403 may directly transmit the received configurations to UE 404. For example, DU 403 may change the state (e.g., activated or deactivated) of a certain configuration and transmit the changed configuration to UE 404. DU 403 may or may not inform CU 401 of the change. In some examples, UE 404 may receive the L1 measurement report related configurations from the MN. In some examples, when the SCG is configured, UE 404 may receive the L1 measurement report related configurations from the SN for the purpose of SCG LTM.

[0131] In some embodiments, the resource configuration may indicate a resource configuration ID, and one resource configuration ID may be related to one or more resource sets. In some embodiments, one of the one or more resource sets may be activated for the corresponding resource configuration ID (or for the corresponding resource configuration) .

[0132] In some embodiments, the report configuration may indicate a report configuration ID, and one report configuration ID may be related to one or more resource configuration IDs. In some embodiments, one of the one or more resource configuration IDs may be activated for the corresponding report configuration ID (or for the corresponding report configuration) .

[0133] In some embodiments, the L1 measurement report related configurations may indicate the state (e.g., activated or deactivated) of a corresponding configuration. For example, the L1 measurement report related configurations may indicate one or more of: an activated or deactivated state of each report configuration for UE 404; an activated or deactivated state of each resource configuration for UE 404; an activated or deactivated state of each resource set for UE 404; and an activated or deactivated state of each LTM candidate for UE 404. For example, CU 401 may indicate an initial state for a corresponding L1 measurement report related configuration. DU 403 may determine whether to change or maintain the initial state based on, for example, the L1 measurement report, L3 measurement report, or both. For example, DU 403 can activate or deactivate an L1 measurement report related configuration for UE 404 via a MAC CE. In some embodiments, the MAC CE is included in a MAC PDU, which may include at most one MAC CE for activation or deactivation of L1 measurement report related configurations.

[0134] The descriptions of the L1 measurement report related configurations, the resource configuration and the report configuration in the foregoing embodiments (e.g., with respect to FIGs. 2 and 3) can apply here and are thus omitted here. The descriptions with respect to operations 213 and 215 in FIG. 2 can apply to operation 413 and 415 and are thus omitted here.

[0135] At 417, BS 402 (e.g., DU 403) may receive an L1 measurement report, an L3 measurement report or both from UE 404. BS 402 may determine to activate or deactivate at least one L1 measurement report related configuration (e.g., activate or deactivate at least one LTM-CSI-ReportConfigId, an LTM-CSI-ResourceConfigId, a resource set ID or an LTM candidate cell ID) and may transmit an indication (denoted as indication #A2) to activate or deactivate the at least one L1 measurement report related configuration to UE 404.

[0136] For example, DU 403 may, at 419, make the decision to activate or deactivate at least one L1 measurement report related configuration based on the measurement results from UE 404, and may transmit indication #A2 to UE 404 at 431. In some embodiments, DU 403 may inform another BS (not shown in FIG. 4 and denoted as BS #B2) of indication #A2. For example, BS #B2 may be a BS associated with an LTM cell switch command for UE 404. For example, BS #B2 may be the target BS (e.g., CU or DU of the target BS) of an LTM cell switch command to be transmitted to UE 404. In some embodiments, DU 403 may not inform BS #B2 of indication #A2.

[0137] For example, based on the measurement results from UE 404, DU 403 may determine and transmit an indication (denoted as indication #B2) for activating or deactivating one or more L1 measurement report related configurations to BS #B2, which may determine indication #A2. For example, DU 403 may transmit indication #B2 to the CU of BS #B2 via CU 401. For example, indication #B2 may be used to activate or deactivate one or more LTM-CSI-ReportConfigIds, one or more LTM-CSI-ResourceConfigIds, one or more resource set IDs or one or more LTM candidate cell IDs. BS #B2 may make a selection from the above activation or deactivation.

[0138] At 431, DU 403 may transmit indication #A2 to UE 404 via a MAC CE or a DCI.

[0139] Various methods may be employed to implement indication #A2 in a MAC CE. For example, the descriptions of indication #A and indication #A1 in the foregoing embodiments can be applied to indication #A2 and are thus omitted here.

[0140] In some embodiments, after the MAC entity of UE 404 receives the MAC CE carrying indication #A2, the MAC entity of UE 404 may transmit indication #A2 (e.g., information about which configuration (s) or ID (s) is activated or deactivated) to a low layer (e.g., the physical layer) or a high layer (e.g., the RRC layer) of UE 404 at 435. UE 404 may update the configurations for L1 measurement stored at UE 404 based on indication #A2. UE 404 may perform L1 measurement and reporting based on the updated configurations. In some embodiments, UE 404 may determine whether to trigger an L1 measurement report based on the updated configurations.

[0141] In some embodiments, BS 402 (e.g., CU 401) may transmit an RRC reconfiguration message to UE 404 update the configurations for L1 measurement (e.g., L1 measurement report related configurations) at 433. A race condition may happen between the RRC reconfiguration message and indication #A2 because CU 401 may not know indication #A2.

[0142] For example, indication #A2 may indicate to activate or deactivate a specific L1 measurement report related configuration (e.g., report configuration #A2) . In some embodiments, report configuration #A2 may not be configured for UE 404 or UE 404 may simultaneously receive an RRC reconfiguration message to delete or release report configuration #A2 (or to delete or release the ID of report configuration #A2) .

[0143] In some embodiments, UE 404 may discard indication #A2. For example, indication #A2 may be transmitted via an MAC CE, which may be included in a MAC sub-PDU of a MAC PDU. In some embodiments, UE 404 may discard the MAC CE carrying indication #A2 or the MAC sub-PDU including the MAC CE.

[0144] In some embodiments, UE 404 may ignore the activation or deactivation of report configuration #A2. UE 404 may apply the remaining content in indication #A2. For example, UE 404 may apply the remaining content in the MAC CE including indication #A2. For instance, indication #A2 may further indicate to activate or deactivate another L1 measurement report related configuration (e.g., configuration #A3) . UE 404 may ignore the activation or deactivation of report configuration #A2 while apply the activation or deactivation of configuration #A3.

[0145] It should be appreciated by persons skilled in the art that the sequence of the operations in exemplary procedure 400 may be changed and that some of the operations in exemplary procedure 400 may be eliminated or modified, without departing from the spirit and scope of the disclosure.

[0146] FIG. 5 illustrates a flowchart of method 500 for wireless communication in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. Details described in all of the foregoing embodiments of the present disclosure are applicable for the embodiments shown in FIG. 5. In some examples, method 500 may be performed by a UE. In some embodiments, the UE may execute a set of instructions to control the functional elements of the UE to perform the described functions or operations. In some examples, a processor of the UE may cause the UE to perform method 500.

[0156] In some embodiments, the indication deactivates the report configuration. The UE may: in response to receiving the indication, stop an ongoing periodic L1 measurement reporting performed by the UE based on the report configuration; in response to receiving the indication, continue the ongoing periodic L1 measurement reporting until a report amount of the ongoing periodic L1 measurement reporting is reached; in response to receiving the indication, continue to transmit an MR MAC CE that is associated with the report configuration and is pending at the UE or a MAC sub-PDU including the MR MAC CE; or in response to receiving the indication, discard the MR MAC CE or the MAC sub-PDU.

[0157] In some embodiments, the ongoing periodic L1 measurement reporting is an event-triggered periodic measurement reporting. In some embodiments, an ID of the report configuration is related to an event.

[0158] In some embodiments, the indication is received in a MAC CE.

[0159] In some embodiments, the UE may transmit the indication from a MAC entity of the UE to a high layer of the UE or a low layer of the UE.

[0160] In some embodiments, the high layer of the UE includes an RRC layer and the low layer of the UE includes a physical layer.

[0161] In some embodiments, the MAC CE is included in a MAC protocol data unit (PDU) , which includes at most one MAC CE for activation or deactivation of L1 measurement report related configurations.

[0162] In some embodiments, the indication activates a first report configuration that is not configured for the UE by the BS or is to be deleted according to an RRC reconfiguration message from the BS. The UE may: discard the MAC CE or a MAC sub-PDU including the MAC CE; or ignore the activation of the first report configuration.

[0163] In some embodiments, the indication further activates or deactivates a third L1 measurement report related configuration. The UE may apply the activation or deactivation of the third L1 measurement report related configuration.

[0164] It should be appreciated by persons skilled in the art that the sequence of the operations in exemplary method 500 may be changed and some of the operations in exemplary method 500 may be eliminated or modified, without departing from the spirit and scope of the disclosure.

[0165] FIG. 6 illustrates a flowchart of method 600 for wireless communication in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. Details described in all of the foregoing embodiments of the present disclosure are applicable for the embodiments shown in FIG. 6. In some examples, method 600 may be performed by a network node such as a BS or a RAN node. In some embodiments, the BS may execute a set of instructions to control the functional elements of the BS to perform the described functions or operations. In some examples, a processor of the BS may cause the BS to perform method 600.

[0166] At 611, a BS may receive, from a UE, UE capability information associated with an activation of L1 measurement report related configurations. At 613, the BS may transmit, to the UE, the L1 measurement report related configurations, wherein the L1 measurement report related configurations includes a resource configuration and a report configuration. At 615, the BS may transmit, to the UE, an indication to activate or deactivate at least one configuration of the transmitted L1 measurement report related configurations. At 617, the BS may receive, from the UE, an L1 measurement report based on the transmitted L1 measurement report related configurations and the indication.
