More particularly, the present disclosure relates to a system and a method for identifying leading Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) service providers based on Wi-Fi data consumption.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Claims

We Claim:

1. A method (500) for identifying leading Wi-Fi service providers in each region in a wireless communication network (100), the method (500) comprising: receiving (502), by a data receiving module (220) from one or more User Equipment (UEs) (104), Wi-Fi parameters associated with the one or more UEs (104); synchronizing (504), by a data synchronization module (222), the Wi-Fi parameters to a database (114); and ranking (512), by a ranking module (228), the Wi-Fi service providers in each region based on a cumulative sum of Wi-Fi data consumption for each Wi-Fi service provider among the Wi-Fi service providers in each region to identify the leading Wi-Fi service providers in each region.

The method (500) as claimed in claim 1, further comprising: tagging (506), by a tagging module (224), the Wi-Fi parameters using a device ID of the one or more UEs (104); calculating (508), by a data calculation module (226) based on the tagged Wi-Fi parameters associated with one or more UEs (104), the Wi-Fi data consumption for each Wi-Fi service provider among the Wi-Fi service providers in each region in the wireless communication network (100); and obtaining (510), by the data calculation module (226), the cumulative sum of the Wi-Fi data consumption for each Wi-Fi service provider in each region.

3. The method (500) as claimed in claim 1, further comprising generating (514), by a report generation module (230), a report indicating the Wi-Fi data consumption for each Wi-Fi service provider in each region and ranking of the WiFi service providers in each region.

4. The method (500) as claimed in claim 3, further comprising displaying, by a display module (232), the report on an output interface.

5. The method (500) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the Wi-Fi parameters include a name of Wi-Fi service provider, a volume of transmit Wi-Fi data, and a volume of received Wi-Fi data.

The method (500) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the Wi-Fi parameters are captured at the one or more UEs (104) based on one or more user events in the one or more UEs (104), and the one or more user events includes UE screen ON / Off, launch of an application (208), Global Positioning System (GPS) sensor ON / Off, airplane mode OFF, Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) threshold, loss of coverage, cellular to Wi-Fi switch, Wi-Fi to cellular switch, device activity on / off, and charger connect / disconnect.

The method (500) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the Wi-Fi parameters associated with the one or more UEs (104) are captured at the one or more UEs (104) using a software development kit (SDK) integrated into an application (208) installed on each of the one or more UEs (104) in the wireless communication network (100).

A system (200) for identifying leading Wi-Fi service providers in each region in a wireless communication network (100), the system (200) comprising: a data receiving module (220) configured to receive, from one or more User Equipment (UEs) (104), Wi-Fi parameters associated with the one or more UEs (104); a data synchronization module (222) configured to synchronize the Wi-Fi parameters to a database (114); and a ranking module (228) configured to rank the Wi-Fi service providers in each region based on a cumulative sum of Wi-Fi data consumption for each Wi-Fi service provider among the Wi-Fi service providers in each region to identify the leading Wi-Fi service providers in each region.

The system (200) as claimed in claim 8, further comprising: a tagging module (224) configured to tag the Wi-Fi parameters using a device ID of the one or more UEs (104); and a data calculation module (226) configured to: calculate, based on the tagged Wi-Fi parameters associated with one or more UEs (104), the Wi-Fi data consumption for each Wi-Fi service provider among the Wi-Fi service providers in each region in the wireless communication network (100); and obtain the cumulative sum of the Wi-Fi data consumption for each Wi-Fi service provider in each region.

10. The system (200) as claimed in claim 8, further comprising a report generation module (230) configured to generate a report indicating the Wi-Fi data consumption for each Wi-Fi service provider in each region and ranking of the WiFi service providers in each region.

11. The system (200) as claimed in claim 10, further comprising a display module (232) configured to display the report on an output interface.

12. The system (200) as claimed in claim 8, wherein the Wi-Fi parameters include a name of Wi-Fi service provider, a volume of transmit Wi-Fi data, and a volume of received Wi-Fi data.

The system (200) as claimed in claim 8, wherein the Wi-Fi parameters are captured at the one or more UEs (104) based on one or more user events in the one or more UEs (104), and the one or more user events includes UE screen ON / Off, launch of an application (208), Global Positioning System (GPS) sensor ON / Off, airplane mode OFF, Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) threshold, loss of coverage, cellular to Wi-Fi switch, Wi-Fi to cellular switch, device activity on / off, and charger connect / disconnect.

The system (200) as claimed in claim 8, wherein the Wi-Fi parameters associated with the one or more UEs (104) are captured at the one or more UEs (104) using a software development kit (SDK) integrated into an application (208) installed on each of the one or more UEs (104) in the wireless communication network (100).

A computer program product comprising computer-executable instructions that are stored on a non-transitory computer-readable medium and that, when executed by at least one processor performs operations comprising: receiving, from one or more User Equipment (UEs) (104), Wi-Fi parameters associated with the one or more UEs (104); synchronizing the Wi-Fi parameters to a database (114); and ranking Wi-Fi service providers in each region in wireless communication network (100) based on a cumulative sum of Wi-Fi data consumption for each WiFi service provider among the Wi-Fi service providers in each region to identify leading Wi-Fi service providers in each region.
