Abstract
Description
Deodorant solution and deodorizing method
[0001] The present invention relates to a deodorant solution and a deodorizing method using the same.
[0002] In everyday life, many people are troubled by various odors (bad odors), such as the odor of rotting food waste, cigarette smoke, toilet odor, and human odors such as body odor, foot odor, and sweat odor. Bad odors are also generated by business activities in factories and workplaces.
[0003] As a countermeasure against such bad odors, deodorants and deodorizers are used which remove bad odor substances by chemical action, such as by decomposing or adsorbing them. Furthermore, since bad odors generated in daily life and business activities are caused by a variety of bad odor substances, there is a demand for deodorants that can be effective against many bad odor substances, and various such deodorants have been proposed.
[0004] Patent Document 1 describes a deodorizing composition containing an O-substituted monohydroxylamine and at least one zinc compound selected from the group consisting of zinc oxide, zinc hydroxide, and zinc carbonate. The deodorizing composition described in Patent Document 1 is said to exhibit an excellent deodorizing effect against complex odors derived from aldehydes, amines, fatty acids, and hydrogen sulfide.
[0005] Patent Document 2 describes an aqueous solution containing zinc oxide, an acid, and a chelating agent. In the aqueous solution of Patent Document 2, the bond strength between the divalent zinc ion formed from zinc oxide and the chelating agent is smaller than the bond strength between the divalent zinc ion and malodorous substances. The aqueous solution of Patent Document 2 is said to be particularly useful for removing malodorous substances containing sulfur or nitrogen atoms.
[0006] Patent Document 3 describes a deodorizer for sulfur-based malodors, which is characterized by mixing copper-containing glass powder and zinc oxide powder in a mass ratio of 2:8 to 8:2. The deodorizer described in Patent Document 3 is said to have both immediate effect against hydrogen sulfide and sustained effect against methyl mercaptan.
[0007] Patent Document 4 describes a deodorizer containing zinc oxide, glycine, at least one threonine selected from the group consisting of threonine and threonine derivatives, and an aqueous solvent. The deodorizer described in Patent Document 4 is said to have good deodorizing properties and be able to suppress the insoluble and residual active ingredients, and in the examples of Patent Document 4, the deodorizing effect on hydrogen sulfide is examined.
[0008] Patent Document 5 describes a deodorizer containing zinc oxide, an organic acid, an aqueous solvent, and an amphoteric surfactant having a carboxylate group or a carboxy group. The deodorizer described in Patent Document 5 is said to have high liquid transparency, be able to suppress the generation of suspended matter and precipitates, and have low toxicity, and in the examples of Patent Document 5, its deodorizing effect on hydrogen sulfide is investigated.
[0009] Patent Document 6 describes a deodorizer characterized by being a solution containing an amino acid zinc complex in which an amino acid is coordinated to a zinc ion, an iodine compound, and an aqueous solvent. The deodorizer described in Patent Document 6 is said to be able to exert a deodorizing effect on various odors. In particular, the deodorizer described in Patent Document 6 is compatible with surfactants, and by adding a surfactant, it is possible to remove the odor of poorly water-soluble mercaptan compounds.
[0010] However, even these known deodorants may not be able to exhibit sufficient deodorizing effects depending on the type of malodorous substance. Furthermore, the active ingredients that exhibit the deodorizing effect of these known deodorants are poorly stable, and the deodorizing effect may decrease over long-term storage. Therefore, there is a strong demand for the development of new deodorants that can address these problems.

[0012] The present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned background art. An object of the present invention is to provide a deodorizer that is highly safe and has a deodorizing effect on various odors, and that has a high deodorizing effect on malodorous components that conventional deodorizers could not address.
[0013] The present inventors have conducted extensive research to solve the above problems and have discovered the following facts, which have led to the completion of the present invention.
[0014] That is, like the known deodorants described above, deodorants containing zinc compounds such as zinc oxide exhibit a high deodorizing effect against hydrogen sulfide. Some of the prior art documents described above state that deodorants containing zinc compounds exhibit a deodorizing effect against sulfur-based malodors in general.
[0015] However, even though they are both sulfur compounds, hydrogen sulfide, in which hydrogen is bonded to both ends of the sulfur atom, and sulfides, which are sulfur compounds in which both ends of the sulfur atom are substituted with organic groups, have different deodorizing mechanisms, and the above-mentioned known deodorizers hardly exhibit a deodorizing effect on sulfides.
[0016] In contrast to this, the deodorant solution and deodorizing method of the present invention described below not only have a deodorizing effect against hydrogen sulfide and the like, but also exhibit a high deodorizing effect against sulfides.
[0017] The present invention thus completed is as follows:
[0018] [1] A deodorant solution comprising a zinc compound, an amino acid or a salt thereof, a copper compound, and an aqueous solvent.
[0019] [2] The deodorant solution according to [1], wherein the copper compound is copper sulfate.
[0020] [3] The deodorant solution according to [1], further comprising a stabilizer for the copper compound.
[0021] [4] The deodorant solution according to [1], further containing a sulfite.
[0022] [5] The deodorant solution according to any one of claims [1] to [4], which is a solution for deodorizing the malodor of sulfides.
[0023] [6] The deodorant solution according to [5], wherein the sulfides are dimethyl sulfide, dimethyl trisulfide, difurfuryl disulfide, or tetrahydrothiophene.
[0024] [7] A deodorizing method for deodorizing the malodor of sulfides using a solution containing a zinc compound, an amino acid or a salt thereof, a copper compound, and an aqueous solvent.
[0025] According to the present invention, it is possible to provide a deodorizer that is highly safe and has a deodorizing effect on various odors. In particular, the deodorizer solution of the present invention exhibits a high deodorizing effect on sulfides, which are malodorous components that conventional deodorizers could not address.
[0026] By incorporating a stabilizer that stabilizes the copper compound, which is a component of the deodorant solution of the present invention, the deodorizing effect is less likely to decrease over time, and the deodorant solution of the present invention can exhibit sufficient deodorizing effect even after long-term storage.
[0027] The present invention will be described below, but the present invention is not limited to the following embodiments and can be practiced with any modifications.
[0028] The deodorant solution of the present invention contains a zinc compound, an amino acid or a salt thereof, a copper compound, and an aqueous solvent. In the present specification, when simply referring to "amino acid", it may refer to "amino acid" and "amino acid salt" collectively.
[0029] The zinc compound and amino acid, which are essential components of the deodorant solution of the present invention, are thought to form an amino acid zinc complex in the deodorant solution in which the amino acid is coordinated to the zinc ion.
[0030] <Amino Acid or Salt Thereof> The amino acid contained in the deodorant solution of the present invention has an amino group (—NH 2 ) and a carboxyl group (-COOH) in the molecule, and it is presumed that the presence of these functional groups provides a deodorizing effect against ammonia, acetic acid, formaldehyde, etc.
[0031] Furthermore, since the amino acid has the effect of acting as a pH buffer, the pH of the deodorant solution of the present invention is less likely to fluctuate.
[0032] Examples of amino acids contained in the deodorant solution of the present invention include glycine, dimethylglycine, trimethylglycine, sarcosine, alanine, valine, leucine, isoleucine, serine, threonine, phenylalanine, tyrosine, tryptophan, cystine, cysteine, methionine, proline, hydroxyproline, glutamine, asparagine, arginine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, histidine, and lysine. From the viewpoints of availability, cost, deodorizing performance, and the like, among the above-mentioned amino acids, glycine, sarcosine, alanine, phenylalanine, threonine, arginine, and glutamic acid are desirable, and glycine is particularly desirable.
[0033] The above amino acids may be in the D-form, the L-form, or the racemic form.
[0034] Examples of the salts of amino acids contained in the deodorant solution of the present invention include sodium salts, potassium salts, lithium salts, ammonium salts, calcium salts, magnesium salts and barium salts of the above-mentioned amino acids.
[0035] The deodorant solution of the present invention may contain one type of amino acid, or may contain two or more types of amino acids.
[0036] <Zinc Compound> Examples of zinc compounds contained in the deodorant solution of the present invention include zinc oxide, zinc carbonate, zinc hydroxide, zinc chloride, zinc sulfate, zinc nitrate, zinc phosphate, zinc acetate, zinc gluconate, zinc citrate, and zinc phenolsulfonate. Of the zinc compounds listed above, zinc oxide and zinc carbonate are preferred in terms of availability, safety, and the like. Furthermore, zinc oxide is a substance that is harmless to the human body and is used as a raw material for cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, etc., and has a high deodorizing effect. In addition to its deodorizing effect, it also has antibacterial properties, making it a particularly desirable zinc compound to be contained in the deodorant solution of the present invention.
[0037] Zinc oxide and zinc carbonate are usually poorly water-soluble, but when a certain amount of amino acid is present, they form an amino acid zinc complex and become soluble in an aqueous solvent such as water. Note that not all of the amino acids contained in the deodorant of the present invention are necessarily coordinated with zinc ions, and amino acids that are not coordinated with zinc ions may also be present. This is actually preferable because it makes it easier to exert a deodorizing effect on various odors.
[0038] The deodorant solution of the present invention may contain one type of zinc compound, or may contain two or more types of zinc compounds.
[0039] <Copper Compound> It is presumed that the deodorant solution of the present invention exhibits a high deodorizing effect against mercaptans and sulfides by containing a copper compound.
[0040] Examples of copper compounds contained in the deodorant solution of the present invention include copper(II) sulfate, copper(II) nitrate, copper(II) hydroxide, copper(II) oxide, copper(II) chloride, copper(II) fluoride, copper(II) citrate, copper(II) gluconate, copper(I) sulfate, copper(I) nitrate, copper(I) hydroxide, copper(I) oxide, copper(I), copper(I) chloride, and copper(I) fluoride. Of the above copper compounds, copper(II) sulfate is preferred from the standpoint of availability, etc.
[0041] Some of the copper compounds mentioned above are poorly water-soluble, but when a certain amount of amino acid is present, they become soluble in an aqueous solvent such as water due to coordination with the amino acid.
[0042] The deodorant solution of the present invention may contain one type of copper compound or two or more types of copper compounds.
[0043] <Aqueous Solvent> The deodorant solution of the present invention contains a zinc compound, an amino acid or a salt thereof, a copper compound, and an aqueous solvent. In other words, the deodorant solution of the present invention is a solution produced by adding a zinc compound, an amino acid or a salt thereof, and a copper compound to an aqueous solvent and mixing them.
[0044] Examples of the aqueous solvent contained in the deodorant solution of the present invention include water such as ion-exchanged water and tap water; and mixed solvents of water and water-soluble organic solvents.
[0045] When the aqueous solvent of the present invention is a mixed solvent of water and a water-soluble organic solvent, examples of the water-soluble organic solvent include monohydric alcohols such as methanol, ethanol, propanol, isopropanol, and butanol; polyhydric alcohols such as ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, 1,3-propanediol, 1,3-butanediol, 1,4-butanediol, polyethylene glycol, polypropylene glycol, and glycerin; and glycol monoethers such as lower alkyl ethers of these polyhydric alcohols.
[0046] When the aqueous solvent in the deodorant solution of the present invention is a mixed solvent of water and a water-soluble organic solvent, the deodorant solution of the present invention may contain one type of water-soluble organic solvent or may contain two or more types of water-soluble organic solvents.
[0047] When the mixed solvent of water and a water-soluble organic solvent contains a monohydric alcohol, it is easy to impart an antibacterial effect to the deodorant. When the mixed solvent of water and a water-soluble organic solvent contains a polyhydric alcohol, when the deodorant is applied to a substrate such as cloth, paper, nonwoven fabric, or wood, it is easy to fix the deodorizing component to the substrate, and the durability of the deodorizing effect is likely to be improved.
[0048] Furthermore, when the aqueous solvent in the deodorant solution of the present invention is a mixed solvent of water and a water-soluble organic solvent, the solubility of various additives described below tends to be improved, making it easier to add value to the deodorant.
[0049] When the aqueous solvent in the deodorant solution of the present invention is a mixed solvent of water and a water-soluble organic solvent, the proportion of the water-soluble organic solvent contained in the aqueous solvent is preferably 0.1% by mass or more, more preferably 0.3% by mass or more, and particularly preferably 1% by mass or more, and preferably 20% by mass or less, more preferably 15% by mass or less, and particularly preferably 10% by mass or less.
[0050] <Stabilizer for Copper Compound> The deodorant solution of the present invention may further contain a stabilizer for the copper compound in addition to the above-mentioned components.
[0051] Copper compounds are unstable in aqueous solvents. Aqueous solutions containing copper compounds may precipitate or discolor due to, for example, light, pH fluctuations, or oxidation by oxygen in the air. In such cases, the deodorizing performance against sulfides and the like is reduced.
[0052] By including a stabilizer for the copper compound in the deodorant solution of the present invention, the above-mentioned problems can be prevented, and even when the deodorant solution of the present invention is stored for a long period of time, the deodorizing performance against sulfides and the like can be well maintained.
[0053] Examples of stabilizers for the copper compound contained in the deodorant solution of the present invention include sulfites. That is, the deodorant solution of the present invention may further contain sulfites in addition to the above-mentioned components.
[0054] Examples of sulfites contained in the deodorant solution of the present invention include lithium sulfite, sodium sulfite, potassium sulfite, rubidium sulfite, cesium sulfite, magnesium sulfite, calcium sulfite, and ammonium sulfite. Of the above sulfites, sodium sulfite is preferred in terms of availability and stabilizing effect.
[0055] The deodorant solution of the present invention may contain one type of sulfite, or may contain two or more types of sulfite.
[0056] <Other Additives> In addition to the components described above, the deodorant solution of the present invention may contain additives such as surfactants, pH adjusters, fragrances, antioxidants, antifungal agents / bactericides, and ultraviolet absorbers.
[0057] The surfactant contained in the deodorant solution of the present invention may be any of a nonionic surfactant, an anionic surfactant, a cationic surfactant, and an amphoteric surfactant.
[0058] Examples of pH adjusters contained in the deodorant solution of the present invention include carboxylic acids such as adipic acid, benzoic acid, citric acid, malic acid, succinic acid, formic acid, acetic acid, lactic acid, malonic acid, phthalic acid, oxalic acid, tartaric acid, glycine, glutamic acid, glutaric acid, iminodiacetic acid, dehydroacetic acid, maleic acid, and fumaric acid, and salts thereof; inorganic acids such as boric acid, phosphoric acid, pyrophosphoric acid, phosphorous acid, thiosulfuric acid, sulfurous acid, nitric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and thiocyanic acid, and salts thereof; ammonia; and amine compounds such as 1,2-ethylenediamine, hydroxyamine, ethanolamine, diethanolamine, and triethanolamine, and salts thereof.
[0059] Examples of the fragrance contained in the deodorant solution of the present invention include natural fragrances such as essential oils and synthetic fragrances.
[0060] Examples of antioxidants contained in the deodorant solution of the present invention include sodium ascorbate, BHT (di-t-butylhydroxytoluene), eugenol, isoeugenol, and thymol.
[0061] Examples of the antifungal agent and disinfectant contained in the deodorant solution of the present invention include quaternary ammonium salts, eugenol, octanol, sodium dehydroacetate, and potassium sorbate.
[0062] Examples of the ultraviolet absorber contained in the deodorant solution of the present invention include tannin, saponin, cinnamic acid ester, and salicylic acid ester.
[0063] The deodorant solution of the present invention may contain one kind of additive, or may contain two or more kinds of additives.
[0064] <Target Malodorous Gases> Examples of malodorous gases that can be deodorized by the deodorant solution of the present invention include hydrogen sulfide; mercaptans such as methyl mercaptan, ethyl mercaptan, propyl mercaptan, and butyl mercaptan; sulfides; ammonia; amines such as methylamine, dimethylamine, trimethylamine, ethylamine, diethylamine, and triethylamine; and aldehydes such as formaldehyde and acetaldehyde.
[0065] Among these, with regard to sulfides, the deodorants containing zinc compounds such as zinc oxide described in the above-mentioned prior art documents cannot exhibit sufficient deodorizing effects, but the deodorant solution of the present invention has a high deodorizing effect against various sulfides, as demonstrated in the examples described below. In other words, the deodorant solution of the present invention is excellent as a solution for deodorizing the malodor of sulfides.
[0066] Sulfides (also known as thioethers) are organic compounds in which divalent sulfur (S) is substituted with two organic groups, and their structure is R 1 -S-R 2 (R 1 and R 2 is any organic group), which are known as malodorous substances. There is no particular limitation on the sulfides that are the target of deodorization by the deodorant solution of the present invention.
[0067] The deodorant solution of the present invention exhibits a sufficient deodorizing effect on all of monosulfides, disulfides (sulfides in which two sulfur atoms are linearly bonded), and trisulfides (sulfides in which three sulfur atoms are linearly bonded). The deodorant solution of the present invention also exhibits a sufficient deodorizing effect on polysulfides, which are higher than trisulfides.
[0068] The organic group (the above R 1 and R 2 ) may be chain-like or cyclic. When the organic group is chain-like, the organic group may be linear or branched. The organic group may be an aliphatic group or an aromatic group. When the organic group is an aliphatic group, the organic group may be saturated or unsaturated. When the organic group is an aromatic group, the organic group may be a carbon ring or a hetero ring.
[0069] In the sulfides to be deodorized by the deodorant solution of the present invention, R 1 and R 2 may be the same or different. 1 and R 2may be bonded to form a ring.
[0070] Specific examples of sulfide compounds that are the target of deodorization by the deodorant solution of the present invention include dimethyl sulfide, dimethyl disulfide, dimethyl trisulfide, diethyl sulfide, diethyl disulfide, diethyl trisulfide, dipropyl sulfide, dipropyl disulfide, dipropyl trisulfide, methyl propyl disulfide, methyl propyl trisulfide, diallyl sulfide, diallyl disulfide, diallyl trisulfide, diphenyl sulfide, diphenyl disulfide, diphenyl trisulfide, difurfuryl sulfide, difurfuryl disulfide, difurfuryl trisulfide, furfuryl methyl sulfide, furfuryl methyl disulfide, thiophene, tetrahydrothiophene, 3-thiophenecarboxaldehyde, 5-methyl-2-thiophenecarboxaldehyde, tetrahydrothiophen-3-one, methionol, 3-methylthio-1-hexanol, and methional.
[0071] Mercaptans are easily oxidized in air to form disulfide compounds, and therefore the deodorant solution of the present invention exhibits excellent deodorizing effects even in environments where mercaptans are generated in large amounts.
[0072] <Content ratio, etc.> The content ratio of amino acid per 1 mole of zinc in the deodorant solution of the present invention is preferably 2 moles or more, more preferably 3 moles or more, and particularly preferably 6 moles or more. Moreover, this content ratio is preferably 50 moles or less, more preferably 20 moles or less, and particularly preferably 10 moles or less.
[0073] When the content ratio is above the lower limit, the poorly water-soluble zinc compound can be sufficiently dissolved in an aqueous solvent. The stoichiometric ratio of the amino acid zinc complex is zinc:amino acid=1:2.When the content ratio of amino acid to 1 mole of zinc exceeds 2 moles, it is thought that the excess amino acid that is not used to form the amino acid zinc complex (not coordinated to the zinc ion) surrounds the amino acid zinc complex. In this case, it is thought that the presence of the excess amino acid allows the solubility in an aqueous solvent to be fully exhibited, and also allows the deodorizing performance against ammonia and aldehyde to be exhibited.
[0074] On the other hand, when the content ratio is equal to or less than the upper limit, not only is it advantageous in terms of cost, but also the deodorizing performance against sulfur-based malodorous gases such as hydrogen sulfide is fully exhibited, presumably because the amino acid zinc complex is not buried in excess amino acid, and the deodorizing performance of zinc against hydrogen sulfide and the like is fully exhibited.
[0075] The content ratio of copper to 1 mole of zinc in the deodorant solution of the present invention is preferably 0.01 moles or more, more preferably 0.03 moles or more, and particularly preferably 0.05 moles or more.Furthermore, this content ratio is preferably 0.5 moles or less, more preferably 0.4 moles or less, and particularly preferably 0.3 moles or less. When this content ratio is above the above lower limit, the deodorizing effect against sulfides is likely to be fully exerted. When this content ratio is below the above upper limit, the stability of the deodorant solution is likely to be maintained, and a sufficient deodorizing effect is likely to be exerted even after long-term storage.
[0076] When the deodorant solution of the present invention contains a sulfite as a stabilizer for the copper compound, the amount of sulfite ions (SO ) per mole of copper is 3 2-The content ratio of sulfite is preferably 1 mol or more, more preferably 3 mol or more, and particularly preferably 5 mol or more. Furthermore, the content ratio is preferably 50 mol or less, more preferably 40 mol or less, and particularly preferably 30 mol or less. When the content ratio is equal to or greater than the lower limit, the copper compound is stabilized, and the deodorizing effect against sulfides after long-term storage is likely to be fully exerted. When the content ratio is equal to or less than the upper limit, it is advantageous in terms of cost. Furthermore, even if a sulfite salt is contained in an amount exceeding the upper limit, the stabilizing effect of the copper compound is not significantly improved.
[0077] The pH of the deodorant solution of the present invention is preferably 5.5 or higher, more preferably 6 or higher, and particularly preferably 6.5 or higher. The pH is also preferably 12 or lower, more preferably 10.5 or lower, and particularly preferably 9 or lower.
[0078] When the pH is within the above range, safety can be sufficiently ensured and deodorizing performance is likely to be fully exerted. Furthermore, when the deodorant solution of the present invention contains a sulfite as a stabilizer for the copper compound, when the pH is equal to or higher than the above upper limit, the stabilizing effect is likely to be fully exerted (sulfite is deactivated in strong acidic conditions).
[0079] <Method for preparing deodorant solution> There are no particular limitations on the method for preparing the deodorant solution of the present invention. For example, the other components may be added to the aqueous solvent all at once and mixed, or the components may be added sequentially.
[0080] <Deodorizing Method> The present invention also relates to a deodorizing method using a solution containing a zinc compound, an amino acid or a salt thereof, a copper compound, and an aqueous solvent.
[0081] In particular, the deodorant solution of the present invention exhibits a high deodorizing effect even against sulfides, which are not sufficiently deodorized by the deodorants containing zinc compounds such as zinc oxide described in the above-mentioned prior art documents. That is, the present invention also relates to a deodorizing method for deodorizing the malodor of sulfides using a solution containing a zinc compound, an amino acid or a salt thereof, a copper compound, and an aqueous solvent.
[0082] The deodorant solution of the present invention may be used by leaving it to stand as it is, or may be processed into various products containing the deodorant solution and used. Examples of the form of the processed product include a spray, a gel, and a coating agent.
[0083] The present invention will be explained in more detail below by way of examples and comparative examples, but the present invention is not limited to these examples as long as it does not depart from the gist of the invention.
[0084] [Preparation of Deodorant Solutions] Deodorant solutions No. 1 to No. 7 were prepared by mixing the components shown in Table 1. The units of values in Table 1 are parts by mass, and the total amount of the deodorant solution is 100 parts by mass.
