Abstract

Provided is a computer-implemented method for determining an image similarity measurement value for use in image registration applications, the method comprising, for each of a first medical image, acquired at a first time, and a second medical image, segmenting a first region of interest of the anatomical body part depicted in the medical image, and determining image information, the image information comprising intensity data of the segmented region of interest, gradient data of the segmented region of interest, and shape descriptor data of the segmented region of interest; for each of the intensity data, the gradient data, and the shape descriptor data, determining a respective similarity between the first medical image and the second medical image; and determining an image similarity measurement value comprising determining a hybrid similarity measurement value.
