Abstract
Description
[0001] BONE ADHESIVE MIXING CARTRIDGE
[0002] Field of the invention
[0003] The present invention relates to a bone adhesive mixing cartridge for mixing a bone adhesive powder with a liquid, a bone adhesive mixing kit and a method for preparing a bone adhesive .
[0004] Background of the invention
[0005] The use of a bone adhesive to glue implants in place may be considered as a favorable advancement in the field of implantology . Together with the ability to robustly bond to minerali zed bone tissue and / or to metal , a suitable bone adhesive can act as an initial implant stabili zation glue with reduced detrimental ef fect on the bone while placing of the implant .
[0006] Typically, a bone adhesive comprises at least one dry component which is mixed with a liquid prior to application . Since after mixing of the dry component with the liquid, the bone adhesive hardens within a rather short time scale on the order a few minutes , it is preferred to keep the dry component separate from the liquid until mixing can be performed shortly before application of the bone adhesive .
[0007] A package comprising a device for storing, mixing, and administering an adhesive composition is for example described in WO 2021 / 041943 Al . The device comprises a chamber within a
[0008] A237 58WO / 1 9 . 09 . 2025 / main body, a barrier, a plunger, a noz zle , and an adhesive composition, wherein the package limits ingress of a contaminating element . The device may comprise a first chamber and a second chamber separated by the barrier, wherein components of the composition may be provided as dry components , such as powder or granules within the first chamber and the second chamber may comprise an aqueous medium, such as water . Speci fical ly, pressure is applied to the plunger of the device to breach the barrier, allowing the components of the adhesive composition to come into contact with each other . The device is then placed into an agitator to agitate the contents of the device , thereby preparing the adhesive composition . The chamber in which the components of the composition are mixed can be swept by a plunger that empties the chamber by expressing the chamber contents out through an ori fice of the main body to an application site , such as bone , or into a noz zle through which the resulting implantable composition flows to an application site , such as bone .
[0009] Summary of the invention
[0010] When using a bone adhesive to glue an implant at an application site , it is desired to provide the one or more dry components separate from the liquid component before mixing . After bringing the one or more dry components into contact with the liquid component , it is further desired to provide an ef ficient mixing of the components , preferably shortly before application of the bone adhesive . For implants in the oral cavity, i . e . dental implants , respectively, mixing the bone
[0011] A237 58WO / 1 9 . 09 . 2025 adhesive can particularly challenging due to the small amounts of bone adhesive involved therewith .
[0012] It is therefore an obj ect of the invention to provide a bone adhesive mixing cartridge for mixing a bone adhesive powder and a liquid, a bone adhesive mixing kit and a method for preparing a bone adhesive , which at least partially improve the prior art and avoid at least part of the disadvantages of the prior art .
[0013] According to the present invention, this obj ect is achieved by the features of the independent claims . In addition, further advantageous embodiments follow from the dependent claims and the description as well as the figures .
[0014] According to an aspect of the invention, this obj ect is particularly achieved by a bone adhesive mixing cartridge for mixing a bone adhesive powder with a liquid to obtain a bone adhesive , comprising a housing, a deformable reservoir arranged in the housing, at least one spring member supported at the housing and comprising a bearing surface , wherein the at least one spring member is configured to exert via the bearing surface a bias force onto the deformable reservoir, wherein the deformable reservoir is deformable from a first volume to a second volume against the bias force of the spring member, the second volume being larger than the first volume , wherein the housing comprises a port fluidically connected with the deformable reservoir and configured for connection with a liquid reservoir .
[0015] The reservoir for the bone adhesive powder and the liquid being deformable provides the advantage that a change in volume , especially a volume decrease , upon contact of the bone adhesive
[0016] A237 58WO / 1 9 . 09 . 2025 powder and the liquid and / or while mixing can be accommodated by the deformable reservoir . The deformability of the reservoir can furthermore be used to repeatedly change the volume of the deformable reservoir by alternating compression and expansion of the deformable reservoir, respectively, in order to achieve a mixing of the bone adhesive powder with the liquid . In particular, the deformable reservoir may be kneaded for achieving an ef ficient mixing .
[0017] In some embodiments , the deformable reservoir containing the bone adhesive powder is in an expanded state before being contacted by a liquid . Preparing the deformable reservoir containing the bone adhesive powder in an expanded state provides the advantage that the deformable reservoir can contract upon contact of the bone adhesive powder with the liquid and thereby to accommodate the volume reduction caused by the hydration of the bone adhesive powder . By contraction of the deformable reservoir, the non-mixed components of the bone adhesive may be brought into closer proximity, thereby allowing to improve the mixing ef ficiency .
[0018] By keeping the deformable reservoir in a housing, a stable storage for the deformable reservoir can be provided . The housing provides the further advantage of providing a support for the at least one spring member allowing the at least one spring member to exert via the bearing surface a bias force onto the deformable reservoir . Repeatedly changing the volume of the deformable reservoir can be achieved by deforming the deformable reservoir from the first volume to the second volume against the bias force of the spring member, the bias force of the at least one spring member subsequently causing the
[0019] A237 58WO / 1 9 . 09 . 2025 deformable reservoir to being deformed back from the second volume to the first volume .
[0020] The person skilled in the art understands that the first volume as well as the second volume between which the volume of the deformable reservoir is being deformed back and forth may slightly vary with each deformation cycle when the volume of the deformable reservoir is repeatedly compressed and expanded, especially i f the volume of the bone adhesive being mixed is varying during the mixing process .
[0021] The bearing surface of the at least one spring member may be designed such that the at least one spring member may act locally or substantially globally on the volume of the deformable reservoir . The at least one spring member may act at one or more local positions on the deformable reservoir .
[0022] The deformable reservoir may comprise a bone adhesive powder . The liquid, typically water, can be supplied to the deformable reservoir through the port at the required point in time when the bone adhesive is needed, and otherwise be kept separate from the bone adhesive mixing cartridge . After mixing the bone adhesive , the port may be used to extract the bone adhesive from the deformable reservoir for application .
[0023] Due to the bias force exerted by the at least one spring member onto the deformable reservoir, ef f icient mixing can be achieved by only requiring external actuation for expanding the deformable reservoir from the first volume to the second volume , as compression from the second volume back to the first volume can be ef fected by the bias force of the at least one spring member . Therefore , ef ficient mixing can be achieved by requiring only a first hal f of the stroke of a mixing cycle
[0024] A237 58WO / 1 9 . 09 . 2025 ( i . e . the change from the first to the second volume ) to be actively applied wherein the second hal f of the stroke of the mixing cycle ( i . e . the change from the second back to the first volume ) may be passively executed by making use of the bias force of the spring member . Due to the deformable reservoir and the at least one spring member being integrated within the housing, the bone adhesive mixing cartridge can be designed as a safe and compact mixing device of fering improved ease of use .
[0025] The bone adhesive mixing cartridge may particularly be advantageous for implants in the oral cavity where typically only small amounts of bone adhesives are used . In some embodiments , the bone adhesive mixing cartridge according to the present disclosure is therefore a dental bone adhesive mixing cartridge for mixing at least two components of a dental bone adhesive . In particular, the at least one spring member and the deformable reservoir may provide ef ficient mixing of a bone adhesive where the volume of the liquid is smaller than the volume of the bone adhesive powder .
[0026] In the context of the present disclosure , the term "bone adhesive" shall be understood to comprise not only an adhesive such as a bone glue , but also or alternatively a bone cement . In particular, the bone adhesive may be a composition which is configured to create a bond between bone and bone and / or bone and implant .
[0027] The term "bone adhesive" can also be understood to refer to a bioadhesive or a bioadhesive composition . The bone adhesive according to the present disclosure may be a dental bone cement like structure which is a biocompatible and biodegradable
[0028] A237 58WO / 1 9 . 09 . 2025 composition that is suitable to join two surfaces together where at least one of them is a tissue such as, for example, a living tissue, a bone tissue, an oral soft tissue, or a dental tissue. The bone adhesive according to the present disclosure has the particularity to be osteof riendly and osteoconductive, providing dental primary stability (and / or secondary stability) of the dental implant while in contact with at least one tissue and maintaining said stability over time while the bone regenerates and grows around the dental implant. The bone adhesive or bioadhesive will slowly at least partially disappear in favour of the newly grown bone.
[0029] The one or more dry components of the bone adhesive may be in the form of a powder. In particular, the bone adhesive may be a dual part composition comprising an aqueous solution as first component and a self-setting adhesive powder as second component, wherein said self-setting adhesive powder comprises, for example, at least a multivalent metal salt and phosphoserine. The multivalent metal salt may comprise, for example, calcium phosphate, for example tetra calcium phosphate (TTCP) or tri calcium phosphate (TCP) , preferably a- TCP. The self-setting adhesive powder may, for example, comprise 50-80% by weight of TCP or TTCP, phosphoserine and preferably further components like calcium silicate. In one preferred example, the self-setting adhesive powder comprises 65 to 80 % by weight of a-TCP, 20-30% by weight of phosphoserine and 1 to 5 % by weight of calcium silicate. The bone adhesive may be formed by mixing the first component and the second component and allowing the obtained composition sufficient time to set. Initial setting may typically be achieved within
[0030] A23758WO / 19.09.2025 15 seconds and 90 seconds, and final setting may typically be achieved within 1 to 15 minutes.
[0031] In some embodiments, the one or more dry components of the bone adhesive may be in the form of a powder, wherein the powder comprises loose particles or compressed particles. In some embodiments, the one or more dry components of the bone adhesive may be in the form of a compressed powder. The powder may be compressed under pressure to obtain a certain density and particle size. For example, the powder can be compressed at a density of about 1.20 g / cm3to about 1.80 g / cm3, preferably at a density of about 1.30 g / cm3to about 1.70 g / cm3, more preferably at a density of about 1.45 g / cm3to about 1.60 g / cm3. For example, the powder can be compressed to obtain a mean particle size of about 0.5 pm to about 30 pm, preferably from about 1 pm to about 20 pm, more preferably from about 3 pm to about 15 pm. The powder can be compressed using, for example, a pressure of about 5 MPa to about 170 MPa, said pressure being dependent from the size and shape of the final object. Said compressed powder may be in the shape of a tablet, a ring, a stack of rings, a sphere, a disc, a cylinder, a tube, a rectangle, a cubic block, a pill, or a cone. Preferably, the dry components of the bone adhesive are compressed into a tablet form. More preferably, the dry components of the bone adhesive are in the form of a loose powder.
[0032] The term "about", as used herein, is intended to provide flexibility to a numerical range endpoint, providing that a given value may be "a little above" or "a little below" the endpoint accounting for variations one might see in the measurements taken among different instruments, samples, and sample preparations. The term usually means within 10%,
[0033] A23758WO / 19.09.2025 preferably within 5%, and more preferably within 1 % of a given value or range.
[0034] Preferably, a smaller amount, especially volume, of liquid may be used for the bone adhesive than the amount, especially volume, of the dry component of the bone adhesive. In some embodiments, the volume ratio of the liquid used for the bone adhesive to the dry component of the bone adhesive used may be between 1:3 and 1:6.
[0035] In some embodiments, the port is configured for connection with a syringe and preferably comprises a luer connector.
[0036] Therefore, a syringe may be used as a liquid reservoir. In particular, a syringe may be used to supply the liquid to the bone adhesive mixing cartridge and the deformable reservoir, respectively. After mixing, the syringe may be used to extract the mixed bone adhesive from the deformable reservoir into the syringe. After extraction of the bone adhesive, the syringe may be disconnected from the port and used to apply or deliver the bone adhesive, respectively.
[0037] In some embodiments, the deformable reservoir is made of an elastic material, preferably rubber.
[0038] By using an elastic material for the deformable reservoir, compression and expansion of the deformable reservoir can be facilitated. Therefore, efficiency of kneading of the deformable reservoir and mixing of the bone adhesive may be improved .
[0039] In some embodiments, the deformable reservoir is inflatable by a gas, preferably air.
[0040] A23758WO / 19.09.2025 The deformable reservoir can therefore be deformed from a first volume to a second volume against the bias force of the spring member by inflation using a gas being introduced into the deformable reservoir . This may particularly be advantageous where a syringe is used as a liquid reservoir connected to the plunger . Besides the liquid, the syringe may comprise a gas which may be used to inflate the deformable reservoir . By advancing the plunger of the syringe , the gas may be introduced into the deformable reservoir causing inflation and thereby creating an expansion force for expanding the deformable reservoir from a first volume to a second volume against the bias force of the spring member . By releasing the pushing action on the plunger, the deformable reservoir may be deformed from the second volume back to the first volume due to the bias force of the spring . Therefore , repeated expansion and compression of the deformable reservoir may be achieved by repeated advancement and retraction of the plunger, wherein the advancement of the plunger may be ef fected by a user pushing on the plunger and thereby inflating the deformable reservoir through the gas being trans ferred from the syringe into the deformable reservoir . Retraction of the plunger, on the other hand, may be ef fected by the bias force of the spring member being exerted onto the deformable reservoir, without an active retracting action by the user .
[0041] Using the bone adhesive mixing cartridge , a simple way of manually mixing a bone adhesive powder with a liquid may therefore be achieved without the need of a motor-driven mixing device .
[0042] In some embodiments , the bearing surface of the at least one spring member faces away from a side wall of the housing and
[0043] A237 58WO / 1 9 . 09 . 2025 extends over at least 75% , preferably at least 90% , particularly preferably at least 95% , of the area o f the side wall of the housing .
[0044] By providing a bearing surface which extends over a substantial portion of the area of the side wall of the housing, a substantially uni form transmission of the bias force onto the deformable reservoir can be provided which may be beneficial for the mixing ef ficiency .
[0045] In some embodiments , the at least one spring member comprises a tensioned arcuate plate .
[0046] In some embodiments , two opposite ends of the tensioned arcuate plate bear against the housing, preferably each against a corner of the housing, such that the tensioned arcuate plate bulges away from a side wall of the housing towards the deformable reservoir .
[0047] The at least one spring member may therefore be des igned as a spring plate exerting the bias force away from a side wall of the housing towards the deformable reservoir . By expanding the deformable reservoir from a first volume to a second volume , the tensioned arcuate plate may be pushed towards the side wall of the housing against the bias force of the tensioned arcuate plate . After reaching the second volume , the tensioned arcuate may compress the deformable reservoir from the second volume back to the first volume . The sequence of expansion and compression may be repeated, thereby achieving a kneading of the deformable reservoir and mixing of the bone adhesive powder and the liquid in the deformable reservoir .
[0048] A237 58WO / 1 9 . 09 . 2025 In some embodiments , the at least one spring member comprises a plate and at least one coil spring connected at a first end to a side wall of the housing and connected at a second end to the plate , wherein the plate is movable towards the side wall of the housing against the spring force of the at least one coil spring .
[0049] The at least one coil spring may therefore be arranged between the plate and a side wall of the housing . The bias force towards the deformable reservoir may be adj usted by selecting a coil spring with a suitable spring constant . By expanding the deformable reservoir from a first volume to a second volume , the plate may be pushed towards the side wall of the housing against the spring force of the at least one coil spring . After reaching the second volume , the plate may compress the deformable reservoir from the second volume back to the first volume due to the spring force of the at least one coil spring . The sequence of expansion and compression may be repeated, thereby achieving a kneading of the deformable reservoir and mixing of the bone adhesive powder and the liquid in the deformable reservoir .
[0050] In some embodiments , the spring member comprises an indentation configured to at least partially receive the deformable reservoir .
[0051] The indentation provides the advantage that the deformable reservoir can be kept in place during the process of repeated deformation between the first volume and the second volume .
[0052] In some embodiments , the bone adhesive mixing cartridge comprises a single spring member and the deformable reservoir
[0053] A237 58WO / 1 9 . 09 . 2025 is arranged between the bearing surface of the single spring member and a side wall of the housing .
[0054] The at least one spring member may therefore press the deformable reservoir against the side wall of the housing .
[0055] In some embodiments , the bone adhesive mixing cartridge comprises two spring members , wherein the deformable reservoir is arranged between the two spring members .
[0056] The two spring members may therefore exert a bias force onto the deformable reservoir from two di f ferent , preferably opposite , directions . By expanding the deformable reservoir from the first volume to the second volume , a spacing between the two spring members may be increased against the bias force of the two spring members . By deforming the deformable reservoir from the second volume back to the first volume such that the deformable reservoir is compressed, the spacing between the two spring members may again be decreased . The two spring members may be of a corresponding or identical shape and configuration such that the magnitude of the bias force exerted onto the deformable reservoir is the same for the two spring members . Alternatively, the shape and configuration of the two spring members may di f fer such that di f ferent bias forces from di f ferent directions are exerted onto the deformable reservoir .
[0057] In some embodiments , the bone adhesive mixing cartridge comprises three or four spring members , wherein the deformable reservoir is arranged between the three or four spring members .
[0058] By expanding the deformable reservoir from the first volume to the second volume , a spacing between the three or four spring
[0059] A237 58WO / 1 9 . 09 . 2025 members may be increased against the bias force of the three or four spring members . By deforming the deformable reservoir from the second volume back to the first volume such that the deformable reservoir is compressed, the spacing between the three or four spring members may again be decreased . The three or four spring members may have a corresponding or identical shape and configuration or may di f fer from each other .
[0060] According to a further aspect , the present invention is also directed to a bone adhesive mixing kit comprising the bone adhesive mixing cartridge according to present disclosure and a liquid reservoir with an outlet , wherein the deformable reservoir comprises a bone adhesive powder and the liquid reservoir comprises a liquid, wherein the outlet of the liquid reservoir is connectable to the port of the bone adhesive mixing cartridge .
[0061] In some embodiments , the liquid reservoir comprises a gas of a volume that is adapted for deforming the deformable reservoir from the first volume to the second volume against the bias force of the spring member when being trans ferred to the deformable reservoir of the bone adhesive mixing cartridge .
[0062] As described above , the deformable reservoir can be deformed from a first volume to a second volume against the bias force of the spring member by inflation using a gas being introduced into the deformable reservoir .
[0063] In some embodiments , the volume of the liquid is smaller than the volume of the bone adhesive powder, wherein the volume ratio of the liquid to the bone adhesive powder is preferably between 1 : 3 and 1 : 6 .
[0064] A237 58WO / 1 9 . 09 . 2025 In some embodiments , the liquid reservoir is a syringe comprising a syringe housing, a plunger axially movable in the syringe housing and a syringe outlet .
[0065] Besides the liquid, the syringe may comprise a gas which may be used to inflate the deformable reservoir . Repeated expansion and compression of the deformable reservoir may therefore be achieved by repeated advancement and retraction of the plunger, wherein the advancement of the plunger may be ef fected by a user pushing on the plunger and thereby inflating the deformable reservoir through the gas being trans ferred from the syringe into the deformable reservoir . Retraction of the plunger, on the other hand, may be ef fected by the bias force of the spring member being exerted onto the deformable reservoir, without an active retracting action by the user .
[0066] In some embodiments , the bone adhesive mixing cartridge is reusable . After loading the liquid reservoir with the bone adhesive , the deformable reservoir used may be replaced by a new deformable reservoir with a bone adhesive powder .
[0067] The housing of the bone adhesive mixing cartridge may therefore comprise an entry, such as for example a door or a lid, through which the deformable reservoir may be replaced .
[0068] A237 58WO / 1 9 . 09 . 2025 In some embodiments , the housing comprises a first housing part and a second housing part which are connected by a hinge . The housing may be opened by pivoting the first housing part and the second housing part , respectively, away from each other . The first housing part and / or the second housing part may comprise a latch and / or a catch, respectively, such that the housing can be closed and releasably locked by pivoting the first and second housing part , respectively, towards each other and engaging the latch and / or the catch .
[0069] In some embodiments , the deformable reservoir is attached to the housing . By attaching the deformable reservoir to the housing, the deformable reservoir can be kept in position while mixing and / or while loading the bone adhesive to the liquid reservoir . In particular, a portion of the deformable reservoir which is arranged opposite to the port may be attached to the housing .
[0070] In some embodiments , the bone adhesive mixing device comprises a gripping device arranged in the housing and configured to grip the deformable reservoir . By gripping the deformable reservoir using the gripping device , the deformable reservoir can be attached to the housing .
[0071] In some embodiments , the bone adhesive mixing cartridge is configured as a single-use device that may be disposed after loading of the liquid reservoir with the bone adhesive .
[0072] In some embodiments , the liquid reservoir comprises a cap configured to close the outlet o f the liquid reservoir . The user may remove the cap before connecting the outlet of the liquid reservoir with the port of the bone adhesive mixing cartridge .
[0073] A237 58WO / 1 9 . 09 . 2025 According to a further aspect , the present invention is also directed to a bone adhesive mixing system comprising the bone adhesive mixing cartridge according to present disclosure and a liquid reservoir with an outlet , wherein the deformable reservoir comprises a bone adhesive powder and the liquid reservoir comprises a liquid, wherein the outlet of the liquid reservoir is releasably connected to the port of the bone adhesive mixing cartridge .
[0074] A barrier membrane may be arranged at the outlet of the liquid reservoir or at the port of the housing of the bone adhesive mixing cartridge . Due to the barrier membrane , the liquid and the bone adhesive powder can be kept separated before use of the bone adhesive mixing system . I f the bone adhesive mixing system is to be used, the barrier membrane may be teared, for example by the liquid being trans ferred from the liquid reservoir to the bone adhesive mixing cartridge .
[0075] According to a further aspect , the present invention is also directed to a method for preparing a bone adhesive by mixing a bone adhesive powder with a liquid to obtain a bone adhesive , comprising the steps of : providing a bone adhesive mixing kit according to the present disclosure ; connecting the outlet of the syringe with the port of the bone adhesive mixing cartridge ; trans ferring the liquid from the syringe to the deformable reservoir of the bone adhesive mixing cartridge by advancing the plunger towards the outlet of the syringe ; mixing the liquid with the bone adhesive powder in the deformable reservoir of the bone adhesive mixing cartridge by repeatedly deforming the deformable reservoir from the second volume to the first volume by releasing the plunger to move away from the outlet of the syringe and from the first volume to the

[0077] In some embodiments of the method, the deformable reservoir is repeatedly deformed from the first volume to the second volume by trans ferring air from the syringe housing to the deformable reservoir of the bone adhesive mixing cartridge by advancing the plunger towards the outlet of the syringe and from the second volume to the first volume by releasing the plunger to move away from the outlet of the syringe .
[0078] According to a further aspect , the present invention is also directed to a method for preparing a bone adhesive by mixing a bone adhesive powder with a liquid to obtain a bone adhesive , comprising the steps of : providing a bone adhesive mixing system according to the present disclosure ; trans ferring the liquid from the syringe to the deformable reservoir of the bone adhesive mixing cartridge by advancing the plunger towards the outlet of the syringe ; mixing the liquid with the bone adhesive powder in the deformable reservoir of the bone adhesive mixing cartridge by repeatedly de forming the deformable reservoir from the second volume to the first volume by releasing the plunger to move away from the outlet of the syringe and from the first volume to the second volume against the bias force of the spring member by advancing the plunger towards the outlet of the syringe ; loading the syringe with the bone adhesive by retracting the plunger away from the outlet .

[0088] Detailed description of exemplary embodiments
[0089] Figure 1 shows a perspective view of an embodiment of a bone adhesive mixing cartridge 10 with a housing 11 and a port 112.
[0090] A23758WO / 19.09.2025 The port 112 i s fluidically connected with a deformable reservoir arranged within the housing 11 . The port 112 is configured for connection with a liquid reservoir, such as a syringe 100 . The housing 11 has a cubical shape .
[0091] Figure 2 shows the bone adhesive mixing cartridge 10 of Figure 1 with visible interior . The bone adhesive mixing cartridge 10 comprises two spring members 13 in the form of tensioned arcuate plates arranged within the housing 11 . Between the tensioned arcuate plates 13 , there is arranged a deformable reservoir 12 made of an elastic material , such as rubber . The deformable reservoir 12 is fluidically connected with the port 112 . The arcuate surfaces of the tensioned arcuate plates 13 oriented towards the deformable reservoir 12 form bearing surfaces for exerting a bias force onto the deformable reservoir 12 . The deformable reservoir 12 contains a bone adhesive powder . After connecting the syringe 100 containing a liquid, such as water, and air to the port 112 , liquid can be trans ferred into the deformable reservoir 12 by advancing the plunger 101 of the syringe 100 . After the liquid has been trans ferred into the deformable reservoir 12 , the air is pushed into the deformable reservoir 12 in order to inflate the deformable reservoir 12 from the shown first volume to a larger second volume against the bias force of the arcuate plates 13 . By releasing the plunger 101 , the arcuate plates 13 deform the deformable reservoir 12 from the second volume back to the first volume exerting a compressive force onto the deformable reservoir 12 . By repeatedly advancing and releasing the plunger 101 , the deformable reservoir 12 can be kneaded by expanding and relaxing of the volume of the deformable reservoir 12 .
[0092] A237 58WO / 1 9 . 09 . 2025 Figure 3 shows an embodiment of a bone adhesive mixing cartridge 20 with two spring members in the form of tensioned arcuate plates 23 . The two opposite ends of each tensioned arcuate plate 23 bear against a corner 211 of the housing 21 such that each tensioned arcuate plate 23 bulges away from the wall of the housing 21 towards the deformable reservoir 22 which is arranged between the two tensioned arcuate plates 23 . The deformable reservoir 22 is shown in a partially inflated configuration where the tensioned arcuate plates 23 are pushed back towards the wall of the housing 21 against the bias force exerted by the tensioned arcuate plates 23 onto the deformable reservoir 22 . As soon as the gas introduced into the deformable reservoir 22 for inflation is removed, the deformable reservoir 22 is compressed by the tensioned arcuate plates 23 moving towards each other due to the bias force . By repeatedly introducing the gas into and removing the gas from the deformable reservoir 22 , kneading of the deformable reservoir 22 and mixing of the bone adhesive components in the deformable reservoir 22 can be achieved .
