[0094] Table 17 Example of quality information

[0095] As mentioned, in some embodiments, the B2b assistance information may include the ionospheric model information for BDS B2b signal. The BeiDou Global Ionospheric delay correction Model (BDGIM) contains nine parameters which are used to correct the effect of ionospheric delay for the single frequency user. For example, the ionospheric model information is provided by GNSS-IonosphericModel IE. The value of parameters for ionospheric model information for BDS B2b may be shown as an example in Table 18.

[0096] In some embodiments, the ionospheric model may be used by the location server to provide parameters to model the propagation delay of the GNSS signals through the ionosphere. Proper use of these fields allows a single-frequency GNSS receiver to remove  parts of the ionospheric delay from the pseudorange measurements. Three Ionospheric Models are supported: The Klobuchar model, the NeQuick model, and the klobucharModelx (x may be 2 or other integer) as defined in a standard. The KlobucharModelxParameter or KlobucharModelParameter may use for the server 120 to provide the BDS B2b ionospheric model information to the target device 110. The example of ionospheric model information may be shown in Table 18 below. The KlobucharModelxParameter or KlobucharModelParameter is shown in Table 19 below. KlobucharModelxParameter or KlobucharModelParameter field descriptions are shown in Table 20 below.

[0097] Table 18

[0098] Table 19

[0099] Table 20

[0100] In some embodiments, the BDS B2b signal may include at least one of: a B2b  signal, a B2b_I signal, a B2b_Q signal, or a B2b_I+Q signal. A type of the BDS B2b signal may be indicated by at least one of: a reserved value or reserved bit of a GNSS signal type indication, or a reserved value indicating a center frequency for the BDS B2b signal.

[0101] In some embodiments, for specific GNSS signal type indication (e.g., GNSS-signalID IE) , a reserved value may be used to indicate the B2b_I / B2b signal and / or a reserved value may be used to indicate the B2b_Q signal and / or a reserved value may be used to indicate the B2b_I+Q signal for BDS system. For example, for BDS system of GNSS, the value 15 may indicate the B2b or B2b_I signal, and / or value 16 may indicate the B2b_Q signal and / or value 17 may indicate the B2b_I+Q signal. In some embodiments, the gnss-SignalIDs, gnss-SignalIDs-Ext field in GNSS-siganlID specifies a particular GNSS signal. An example interpretation of gnss-SignalID and gnss-SignalID-Ext depends on the GNSS ID and is as shown in the Table 21 System to Value &Explanation relation.

[0102] For several GNSS signals indication using a bit map (e.g., GNSS-signalIDs IE) , a reserved bit may be used to indicate the B2b_I signal or B2b signal, and / or a reserved bit may be used to indicate the B2b_Q signal, and / or a reserved bit may be used to indicate the B2b_I+Q signal for BDS system of GNSS. For example, bit 8 in bitmap may indicate the B2b_I signal or B2b signal, and / or bit 9 in bitmap may indicate the B2b_Q signal, and / or bit 10 in bitmap may indicate the B2b_I+Q signal. In some embodiments, gnss-SignalIDs, gnss-SignalIDs-Ext field in GNSS-signalIDs IE specifies one or several GNSS signals using a bit map. The interpretation of the bit map in gnssSignalIDs and gnss-SignalIDs-Ext depends on the GNSS ID and is shown in the Table 22, a one value at the bit position means the particular signal is addressed; a zero value at the particular bit position means the signal is not addressed.

[0104] Table 22 Interpretation of the bit map in gnssSignalIDs-Ext

[0105] In some embodiments, for specific GNSS link or frequency indication, such as gnss-FrequencyID field, a reserved value may be used to indicate the B2b signal and corresponding center frequency for BDS system. For example, value 5 may indicate the B2b signal and corresponding center frequency 1207.140MHz. Table 23 shows an interpretation of gnss-FrequencyID which depends on the GNSS-ID.

[0106] Table 23

[0107] In some embodiments, a signal power level of the BDS B2b signal relative to a reference power level may be higher than or equal to a threshold. In some embodiments, a performance requirement of relative signal power levels of the BDS B2b signal may be higher than or equal to a threshold. For example, the minimum performance requirement of relative signal power levels for Medium Earth Orbit satellites (MEO) for B2b signal type may be +3 dB, and / or relative signal power levels for Inclined GeoSynchronous Orbit (IGSO) satellites for B2b signal type may be +1 dB. In some embodiments, for target device (e.g., UE) supporting multiple signals: the relative signal power levels for MEO satellites for B2b signal type is may be +3 dB. The relative signal power levels for IGSO satellites for B2b signal type may be +1 dB.

[0108] Different minimum performance requirements may be associated with different signals. The satellite simulator shall generate all signals supported by the target device 110 such as UE. The relative power levels of each signal type for each GNSS may be defined in Table 24, for test cases which involve "BDS" , DMEO represents MEO satellites for B2b signal types and DIGSO represents IGSO satellites for B2b signal type.

[0109] The power level of BDS B2b simulated satellite signal type may be set to the reference signal power level defined in each test scenario in a standard (such as clause 6 of 3GPP TS 38.171) plus the relative power level defined in Table 24.

[0110] In some example embodiments, a minimum performance requirement of signal power level of the BDS B2b signal relative to a reference power level may be higher than or equal to a threshold. In some embodiments, a minimum performance requirement of signal power level of the BDS B2b signal relative to a reference power level may be set to the reference signal power level plus the relative power level defined in Table 24. of minimum performance requirement of signal power level of BDS B2b signal are described below. For example, in the test of coarse time assistance, the power level of BDS B2b is -136dB of reference high signal power level or -145dB of reference low signal power level plus the relative power level in Table 24 for B2b. In the test of fine time assistance, the power level of BDS B2b is -147dB plus the relative power in Table 24 for B2b. In the test of nominal accuracy requirement, the power level of BDS B2b is -133dB plus the relative power in Table 16 for B2b. In the test of dynamic range requirement, the power level of BDS B2b is -133.5dB of reference high signal power level or -145 of reference low signal power level plus the relative power in Table 24 for B2b. In the test of multi-path to verify the receiver's tolerance to multipath while keeping the test setup simple, the  power level of BDS B2b is -133dB plus the relative power in Table 24 for B2b. In the test of Moving scenario and periodic update, the power level of BDS B2b is -133dB plus the relative power in Table 24 for B2b.

[0111] Table 24

[0112] Several B2b assistance information signaling and transmission approaches have been described with respect to FIG. 2. FIG. 3 to FIG. 5 illustrates further B2b assistance information signaling embodiments. FIG. 3 illustrates a signaling flow 300 of BDS B2b assistance information transmission in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purposes of discussion, the signaling flow 300 will be discussed with reference to FIG. 1, for example, by using the target device 110 and the server 120. It is assumed that the server 120 manages positioning for the target device 110.

[0113] In operation, step 1, the target device 110 may send a RequestAssistanceData message to the server 120 using some available transactionID T1. The message may contain a periodicSessionID S (different to any other periodicSessionID currently in use between the target device 110 and server 120) in the IE CommonIEsRequestAssistanceData. The message also includes a positioning method specific assistance data request element (e.g., IE A-GNSS-RequestAssistanceData) identifying the type of assistance data being requested together with desired periodicity conditions for sending it and a duration for ending the assistance data transfer (e.g., in IE GNSS-PeriodicAssistDataReq) .

[0114] Step 2, the server 120 responds with a ProvideAssistanceData message to the target device 110. The message uses the transactionID T1 in step 1 and indicates the end  of this transaction. The message contains the periodicSessionID S in IE CommonIEsProvideAssistanceData. If the request may be supported, the message contains the control parameters in the positioning method specific assistance data (e.g., IE A-GNSS-ProvideAssistanceData) which may confirm or redefine the type of assistance data or periodicity parameters requested at step 1 (e.g., in IE GNSS-PeriodicAssistData) . If the target requested non-periodic assistance data in addition to the periodic assistance data in step 1, the ProvideAssistanceData message may also include the non-periodic assistance data in this step 2 (but not any periodic assistance data) . If the request cannot be supported (fully or partly) , an error reason is provided in the positioning method specific IE (e.g., IE A-GNSS-Error) . If the request cannot even partly be supported remaining steps are then not performed.

[0115] It is to be noted that the target device 110 infers from an absence of the periodicSessionID that the location server does not support periodic assistance data delivery. In that case, the target device does not expect the Data Transaction (Steps 3-7) .

[0116] Step 3, when the first periodic message is available, the server 120 may send an unsolicited ProvideAssistanceData message to the target device 110 containing the periodicSessionID S and the periodic assistance data confirmed in step 2. The message uses some available transactionID T2 that may be different to T1.

[0117] The positioning method specific control parameters (e.g., IE GNSS-PeriodicAssistData) may be not included in the data transaction.

[0118] Step 4, the server 120 may continue to send further ProvideAssistanceData messages to the target device 110 containing the periodic assistance data confirmed or redefined in step 2 when each additional periodicity condition occurs.

[0119] The target device 110 may expect a ProvideAssistanceData messages at the in Step 2 confirmed interval (s) . If some or all of the assistance data is not available at each periodic interval, an error indication is provided in the positioning method specific IE (e.g., IE A-GNSS-Error) .

[0120] Step 5, if the target device 110 requires the session to end, the target device 110 may send an Abort message to the server 120 for transaction T2 that may optionally include an abortCause. Remaining steps are then omitted.

[0121] Step 6, if the server 120 requires the session to end, the server 120 may send an  Abort message to the target device 110 for transaction T2 that may optionally include an abortCause. Remaining steps are then omitted.

[0122] Step 7, when the duration or other conditions for ending the periodic assistance data transfer occur, the last ProvideAssistanceData message transferred indicates the end of transaction T2.

[0123] FIG. 4 illustrates a signaling flow 400 of BDS B2b assistance information transmission in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purposes of discussion, the signaling flow 400 will be discussed with reference to FIG. 1, for example, by using the target device 110 and the server 120. It is assumed that the server 120 manages positioning for the target device 110.

[0124] In the signaling flow 400, steps 1-2 and optionally steps 3-4 in the signaling flow 300 may be performed for the Periodic Assistance Data Transfer procedure with the following exceptions:

[0125] - The RequestAssistanceData message in step 1 indicates the update capabilities of the target device 110.

[0126] - The ProvideAssistanceData message in step 2 indicates the update capabilities of the target device which are supported by the server 120.

[0127] If the target device 110 changes its primary cell and if the update capabilities of the target device 110 supported by the server in step 1 include update of a primary cell ID, the target device 110 may send a RequestAssistanceData message to the server 120 using some available transactionID T3, which is different from T2 (previously used in step 2) . The message contains the periodicSessionID S (previously used in step 1) and the new primary cell ID in the IE CommonIEsRequestAssistanceData.

[0128] The server 120 responds with a ProvideAssistanceData message to the target device 110. The message uses the transactionID T3 in step 2 and indicates the end of this transaction. The message contains the periodicSessionID S in IE CommonIEsProvideAssistanceData. Steps 2-3 are repeated each time the target device changes its primary cell.

[0129] Steps 4-7 in the signaling flow 300 may be performed for the Periodic Assistance Data Transfer procedure.

[0130] FIG. 5 illustrates a signaling flow 500 of BDS B2b assistance information transmission in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purposes of discussion, the signaling flow 500 will be discussed with reference to FIG. 1, for example, by using the target device 110 and the server 120. It is assumed that the server 120 manages positioning for the target device 110.

[0131] In the signaling flow 500, in step 1, the server 120 sends a ProvideAssistanceData message to the target device 110 using some available transactionID T1 and indicates the end of this transaction. The message contains a periodicSessionID S (different to any other periodicSessionID currently in use between the server and target) in the IE CommonIEsProvideAssistanceData. The message includes positioning method specific assistance data control parameters (e.g., in IE A-GNSS-ProvideAssistanceData) identifying the type of periodic assistance data being delivered together with periodicity conditions for sending it and a duration for ending the assistance data delivery (e.g., in IE GNSS-PeriodicAssistData) . The ProvideAssistanceData message may also include non-periodic assistance data (but not any periodic assistance data) .

[0132] Step 2, when the first periodic message is available, the server 120 may send an unsolicited ProvideAssistanceData message to the target device 110 containing the periodicSessionID S and the periodic assistance data announced in step 1. The message uses some available transactionID T2 that may be different to T1.

[0133] The positioning method specific control parameters (e.g., IE GNSS-PeriodicAssistData) may not be included in the data transaction.

[0134] Step 3, the server 120 may continue to send further ProvideAssistanceData messages to the target device 110 containing the periodic assistance data announced in step 2 when each additional periodicity condition occurs.

[0135] The target device 110 may expect a ProvideAssistanceData messages at the in Step 2 announced interval (s) . If some or all of the assistance data is not available at each periodic interval, an error indication is provided in the positioning method specific IE (e.g., IE A-GNSS-Error) .

[0136] Step 4, if the target device 110 requires the session to end, the target device 110 may send an Abort message to the server 120 for transaction T2 that may optionally  include an abortCause. Remaining steps are then omitted.

[0137] Step 5, if the server 120 requires the session to end, the server 120 may send an Abort message to the target device 110 for transaction T2 that may optionally include an abortCause. Remaining steps are then omitted.

[0138] Step 6, when the duration or other conditions for ending the periodic assistance data transfer occur, the last ProvideAssistanceData message transferred indicates the end of transaction T2.

[0139] In some embodiments, when triggered to transmit a RequestAssistanceData message, the target device 110 may set the IEs for the positioning-method-specific request for assistance data to request the data indicated by upper layers.

[0140] Upon receiving a ProvideAssistanceData message, the target device 110 may for each positioning method contained in the message, deliver the related assistance data to upper layers.

[0141] During these procedures, RequestAssistanceData, A-GNSS-RequestAssistanceData and A-GNSS-ProvideAssistanceData are used for the B2b assistance information request and B2b assistance information transmission. Table 25 to Table 27 show the RequestAssistanceData, A-GNSS-RequestAssistanceData and A-GNSS-ProvideAssistanceData, respectively.
