BEVERAGE CAN INSULATING DEVICEFIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates generally to beverage can holders, more specifically but not by way of limitation, a beverage can holder that is configured to maintain a temperature of the beverage can, wherein the present invention includes a bottom portion and a top portion. Furthermore, the top portion is configured to be superposed the portion of the beverage can extending upward from the bottom portion and mateably engage therewith sealing with an upper perimeter edge of the bottom portion.BACKGROUND
[0002] As is known in the art, beverage cans have been utilized for decades to package various types of beverages for distribution and sale. Many common sizes of beverage cans are available and these include but are not limited to the conventional three hundred and fifty-five milliliter can. These types of beverage can are utilized to serve beverages at various types of events, restaurants, homes and other places. The portable convenience of the conventional beverage can makes it popular for packaging.
[0003] Many types of insulating sleeves are available for the conventional beverage cans. These insulating sleeves are most commonly manufactured from foam rubber and include an integrally formed bottom and wall creating an interior volume in which the beverage can is inserted. One issue with the conventional beverage can insulators is that they do not provide coverage of the entire beverage can. A typical beverage can insulator extends upwards around the can but is typically several centimeters short of the top of the can. Exposure of the top of the can results in the loss of temperature of the contents of the can more rapidly than is desired. No existing beverage can insulating devices are configured to completely encase a beverage can during use thereof. The loss of temperature ofthe contents of the can, heat or cold, is faster as a result of the lack of coverage of the top of the beverage can.
[0004] Accordingly, there is a need for a beverage can insulating device that is configured to completely encase the beverage can wherein the present invention includes a bottom portion with a top portion releasably secured thereto.SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0005] It is the object of the present invention to provide a beverage can insulating device that is configured to assist in maintaining the temperature of the beverage can and its contents wherein the present invention includes a body that is cylindrical in shape.
[0006] Another object of the present invention is to provide an insulating sleeve for a beverage can that is configured to surroundably mount the entire can wherein body includes a bottom portion and a top portion.
[0007] A further object of the present invention is to provide a beverage can insulating device that is configured to assist in maintaining the temperature of the beverage can and its contents wherein the top portion is releasably secured to the bottom portion of the body.
[0008] Yet a further object of the present invention is to provide an insulating sleeve for a beverage can that is configured to surroundably mount the entire can wherein the bottom portion has a preferred length of three and three-quarters of an inch from the bottom edge to the top edge thereof.
[0009] Still another object of the present invention is to provide a beverage can insulating device that is configured to assist in maintaining the temperature of the beverage can and its contents wherein a can disposed within the bottom portion of the body extends upwards past the perimeter edge thereof by one and one- quarter inch.
[0010] An additional object of the present invention is to provide an insulating sleeve for a beverage can that is configured to surroundably mount the entire beverage can wherein the top portion of the body includes an interior wall creating a void that is mateable in shape to a top portion of a beverage can.
[0011] Yet a further object of the present invention is to provide a beverage can insulating device that is configured to assist in maintaining the temperature of the beverage can and its contents wherein the void present in the top portion of the body further includes a protuberance to fill the space present within the rim of the beverage can.

It is contemplated within the scope of thepresent invention that suitable alternate materials could be utilized to manufacture the body 10 ofthe insulating device for a beverage can 100. It should be further understood that the dimensions referenced herein are for a preferred embodiment configured to operably engage with a 355 milliliter ounces(12 fluid ounces). Alternate sizes of beverage cans would have different dimensions but the fundamental elements of the invention discussed herein would be consistent across different sizes ofthe present invention configured to receive alternate sizes of beverage cans.
[0022] The insulating device for a beverage can 100 includes a body 10 having a bottom portion 15 and a top portion 30. The bottom portion 15 is cylindrical in shape having a bottom end 16 and a top end 17. The bottom portion 15 includes wall 18 defining the shape of the bottom portion 15. In a preferred embodiment the wall 18 is three-eighths of an inch in thickness. The top end 17 includes upper perimeter edge 19 which is circumferentially disposed around the opening 20 providing access to the interior volume 21 of the bottom portion 15. The bottom portion 15 in a preferred embodiment is three and seven-eighths of an inch in height. The bottom portion 15 is manufactured from a suitable insulating material such as but not limited to foam rubber. It should be understood within the scope of the present invention that the bottom portion 15 could be manufactured from various alternate suitable materials. The bottom portion 15 includes bottom end member 24 manufactured from the same material as the bottom portion 15. The bottom end member 24 is solid and in a preferred embodiment is one-half inch in thickness. When an exemplary beverage can 99 is disposed within the bottom portion 15 to engage the bottom end member 24, the exposed portion of the beverage can is approximately one and three-eighths inch above the upper perimeter edge 19. All of the aforementioned dimensions and measurements would transfer from a ratio perspective for an embodiment of the insulating device for a beverage can 100 that is constructed for a different size beverage can such as but not limited to what is commonly referred to as a slim can.
[0023] The top portion 30 is manufactured from the same material as the bottom portion 15, having the same diameter and is configured to be superposed theupper perimeter edge 19 covering the top portion 96 of the beverage can 99. The top portion 30 includes interior volume 32 configured to mateably receive top portion 96 of the beverage can 99. The interior volume 32 is defined by wall 34 which extends from edge 37. Wall 34 has arcuate portion 36 contiguous with portion 31 wherein arcuate portion 36 extends inward to mate with inward portion 93 of the beverage can 99. Arcuate portion 36 is contiguously formed with notch 38 wherein notch 38 is configured to mateably receive therein rim member 91. Protuberance 40 extends across the diameter of the top portion 30 intermediate notch 38 and is operable to insert into top void 89 of the beverage can 99 created by rim member 91. The aforementioned provides a seal so as to substantially inhibit beverage from egressing out of the opening of the beverage can 99 when the top portion 30 is placed over the bottom portion 15. In a preferred embodiment of the top portion 30 the thickness thereof proximate the upper edge 47 and protuberance 40 is approximately three-quarters of an inch.

Claims
WHAT IS CLAIMED IS:
1. An insulating device for a beverage can configured to maintain the temperature of the beverage can and contents thereof wherein the insulating device comprises:a body, said body having a bottom portion, said bottom portion being cylindrical in shape, said bottom portion having a wall, said bottom portion having a lower end and an upper end, said bottom portion having an opening at said upper end, said wall having an upper perimeter edge circumferentially disposed around said opening, said body further having a top portion, said top portion configured to be releasably superposed said bottom portion proximate the upper perimeter edge, said top portion configured to surroundably mount a portion of a beverage can extending upward beyond said upper perimeter edge, said top portion having an interior volume being defined by a wall, said interior volume being mateably shaped to the portion of the beverage can extending upward beyond said upper perimeter edge.
2. The insulating device for a beverage can configured to maintain the temperature of the beverage can and contents thereof as recited in claim 1, wherein said bottom portion of said body includes a bottom end member integrally formed into the bottom portion proximate the lower end, said bottom end member approximately one-half inch in thickness.
3. The insulating device for a beverage can configured to maintain the temperature of the beverage can and contents thereof as recited in claim 2, wherein the wall of the top portion includes an arcuate portion, said arcuate portion having a radius inwards towards said interior volume of said top portion.
4. The insulating device for a beverage can configured to maintain the temperature of the beverage can and contents thereof as recited in claim 3, wherein said arcuate portion of said wall of said top portion is contiguous with a notch, said notch configured to engage a rim member of a beverage can.
5. The insulating device for a beverage can configured to maintain the temperature of the beverage can and contents thereof as recited in claim 4, wherein said top portion further includes a protuberance, said protuberance extending across a diameter of said top portion intermediate said notch.
6. The insulating device for a beverage can configured to maintain the temperature of the beverage can and contents thereof as recited in claim 5, wherein said top portion has a thickness of approximately three quarter of an inch proximate said protuberance.
7. The insulating device for a beverage can configured to maintain the temperature of the beverage can and contents thereof as recited in claim 6, wherein said bottom portion has a height of approximately three and seven-eighths of an inch.
8. The insulating device for a beverage can configured to maintain the temperature of the beverage can and contents thereof as recited in claim 7, wherein said protuberance is configured to fill a void on a top of the beverage can intermediate the rim member.
