AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing resin compositions containing polybutylene succinate-based polymers lack sufficient impact resistance, particularly at low temperatures, and suffer from additive bleed-out issues, while also not fully meeting biodegradability requirements.

Method used

A resin composition comprising a polyester polymer and a polybutylene succinate polymer, where the polyester polymer includes specific polyhydric alcohol and polyhydric carboxylic acid units, forming a phase-separated structure that enhances impact resistance and bleed-out resistance, and is biodegradable.

Benefits of technology

The composition achieves good impact resistance, bleed-out resistance, and biodegradability at low temperatures, with the polyester polymer and polybutylene succinate polymer forming a partially compatible structure that maintains elasticity and suppresses additive bleed-out.

Abstract

Provided are a resin composition having satisfactory impact resistance at low temperatures and having bleed resistance and biodegradability, a molded body, and a modifier for poly(butylene succinate)-based polymers. The resin composition comprises a polyester-based polymer (A) and a poly(butylene succinate)-based polymer (B), wherein the polyester-based polymer (A) comprises units of one or more polyhydric alcohols (a1) and units of one or more polycarboxylic acids (a2), the polyhydric alcohols (a1) including at least one diol selected from the group consisting of C3-C12 linear aliphatic diols and C3-C12 branched aliphatic diols and the polycarboxylic acids (a2) including a C4-C16 linear aliphatic dicarboxylic acid and a C4-C16 branched aliphatic dicarboxylic acid.
