Abstract

A hitch carrier with a lift assembly for mounting to a vehicle is disclosed. The hitch carrier includes a hitch assembly, a lift assembly operatively connected to the hitch assembly, and a platform assembly operatively connected to the lift assembly. The hitch assembly is configured to attach to a hitch receiver of the vehicle and may include a hitch tube and a down tube. The hitch assembly includes a backbone assembly comprising a spine configured as a central structural support and attachable to the down tube of the hitch assembly. The hitch assembly also includes upper and lower yoke assemblies connected at one end to the spine and at an opposite end to the platform assembly and a linear actuator configured to provide powered vertical motion to raise and lower the platform assembly. A first end of the linear actuator is rotatably mounted to the spine and a second end is rotatably mounted to a lower actuator mounting bracket attached to the lower yoke assembly.
