Abstract

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide systems, apparatus, and methods for pilot tone allocation in distributed resource units (DRUs) with puncturing in wireless local area networks (WLANs). Embodiments involve selecting pilot tone indices associated with predefined sets of pilot tone indices, which are assigned to a set of 242 subcarriers within the available distribution bandwidth. Embodiments may further define various DRU sizes, including 26-tone, 52-tone, 106-tone, and 242-tone DRUs, with each DRU type having corresponding pilot tone indices. These indices may be selected to improve pilot tone distribution in 80 MHz PPDU with 60 MHz distribution bandwidth due to 20 MHz being punctured or unallocated. Embodiments may enable improved pilot tone distribution in 80 MHz PPDUs and improved use of available spectrum. Embodiments may further enhance channel estimation by choosing appropriate pilot tones that minimize interference.

Description

SYSTEMS, METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR PILOT TONE ALLOCATION IN DISTRIBUTED RESOURCE UNITS (DRUs)TECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present application pertains to the field of wireless communication systems, and in particular to systems, methods and apparatus for pilot tone allocation in distributed resource units (DRUs) with puncturing in wireless local area networks (WLANs) .BACKGROUND

[0002] Wireless communication systems, such as IEEE 802.11ac ( 5) and IEEE 802.11ax (WI- 6) systems, may require compliance with strict government-regulated power spectral density (PSD) requirements. These regulations impose limits on the maximum transmitter (TX) power, both in terms of total power and power within specific frequency ranges, such as per megahertz (MHz) . While these requirements may be necessary, they limit the power available for transmission in resource units (RUs) , presenting a challenge for maintaining efficient communication.

[0003] In some scenarios, certain portions of the available bandwidth may be unusable or unavailable for transmission due to operational constraints or system configurations. This can challenge how transmissions are structured, limit how the resources may be used. Existing approaches designed to address these situations often lead to inefficiencies. For instance, some methods result in a reduction of the maximum per-tone power boosting gain, which may adversely impact transmission efficiency and overall performance.

[0004] Therefore, there is a need for systems, methods and apparatus for pilot tone allocation in distributed resource units (DRUs) with puncturing in wireless local area networks (WLANs) that obviates or mitigates one or more limitations in the prior art.

[0005] This background information is provided to reveal information believed by the applicant to be of possible relevance to the present invention. No admission is necessarily intended, nor should be construed that any of the preceding information constitutes prior art against the present invention.SUMMARY

[0112] Embodiments of the present disclosure provide systems, apparatus and methods for pilot tone allocation in DRUs with puncturing in WLANs. According to some embodiments, the present application relates to methods for managing pilot tone allocation within a wireless communication system. According to an embodiment, a method is provided for allocating pilot tones within DRUs to facilitate wireless communication over a 60 MHz distribution bandwidth. The method involves transmitting a physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU) from a transmitter to a receiver over a wireless communication channel with an available distribution bandwidth of 60 MHz. The PPDU may be associated with one or more distributed resource units (DRUs) that are allocated within this 60 MHz bandwidth. Each DRU may contain one or more pilot tones, which are linked to a corresponding set of pilot tone indices. These indices are drawn from a predefined set, with each set corresponding to a different configuration of 242 subcarriers within the available distribution bandwidth. In some embodiments, the pilot tone indices may comprise: -467, -434, -401, -368, -335, -302, -269, -231, -198, -93, -60, -27, 29, 62, 95, 128, 161, 194. In some embodiments, the pilot tone indices may comprise: -456, -423, -390, -360, -354, -291, -253, -217, -184, -82, -49, -16, 37, 43, 106, 139, 175, 208. In some embodiments, the pilot tone indices may comprise: -445, -409, -376, -343, -307, -277. -239, -206, -173, -71, -35, 21, 54, 90, 120, 153, 186, 219. The method may provide an improved pilot tone assignment in DRUs, facilitating communication in a 60 MHz bandwidth scenario.

[0113] IEEE 802.11bn (Ultra-high reliability (UHR) ) standardization is currently under development for the next generation of WLANs. One objective for UHR may be to improve reliability. Approximately 1.2 GHz of unlicensed spectrum for low power indoor (LPI) applications at the 6 GHz band has been allocated for use by regulatory bodies such as the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) . FCC regulations set the maximum conducted output power spectrum density (PSD) as 5 dBm / MHz for an AP and -1 dBm / MHz for a STA. These FCC regulation rules limit the transmit power of Wi-Fi APs / STAs operating in the 6 GHz LPI band compared to operations in other unlicensed bands. This may result in much shorter communication links and / or lower reliability.

[0114] A proposal is made in [IEEE 802.11-23-0037r0, J. Liu et al., 'UHR Feature to Overcome PSD Limitations: Distributed-Tone Resource Units, 'published Dec 10, 2022] to distribute the tones of a user in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing access (OFDMA) across a wide portion of the spectrum within the physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU) bandwidth. This method is called distributed resource unit (DRU) , and the RU before tone distribution is denoted as a regular RU (RRU) . In DRU, the number of tones of one user within 1 MHz is reduced, which may allow for a boost in transmit power. This increase in power may enhance the transmit distance and / or improve the reliability for STAs operating in the LPI bands.

[0115] Tone distribution plays an important role in the system performance and implementation of DRU. As described in US patent application No. 63 / 691, 100, the contents of which are incorporated herein by reference in their entirety, methods for data and pilot tone distribution in a wideband PPDU with a bandwidth of 80 MHz or greater are considered. These methods address scenarios where all 20 MHz subchannels are available in an 80 MHz PPDU, as well as cases where one or two 20 MHz subchannels are unavailable for tone distribution across the 20 MHz subchannel boundary. In an 80 MHz PPDU, if a 20 MHz subchannel is punctured, or allocated for a 20 MHz operating STA or a legacy STA without DRU capability, data and pilot subcarriers should be distributed over all available spectrum for DRU within the corresponding PPDU bandwidth to maximize the per data and pilot tone transmit power.

[0116] One or more embodiments described herein may relate to DRU pilot tone plan and the design of DRU tone distribution as described in US patent application No. 63 / 691, 100. One or more embodiments may relate to scenarios where one 20 MHz subchannel is unavailable for tone distribution across a 20 MHz subchannel boundary in an 80 MHz PPDU.

[0117] A Resource Unit (RU) is a subgroup of subcarriers (tones) within an OFDM symbol, allocated for data and pilot transmission. FIG. 1 illustrates RU locations within an 80 MHz Extremely High Throughput (EHT) PPDU. FIG. 1 (3.1) illustrates RU locations within an 80 MHz EHT PPDU. The RU locations may resemble RU locations as defined in IEEE 802.11 related documents.

[0118] FIG. 1 illustrates the distribution and locations of RUs within an 80 MHz EHT PPDU. A range of RU sizes, including 242-tone, 106-tone, 52-tone, and 26-tone RUs, are shown arranged across the PPDU bandwidth. Each RU size is allocated in various sections of the spectrum, with DC (Direct Current) subcarriers and null subcarriers positioned at key points, such as the center and edges of the PPDU. The diagram also shows the allocation of guard bands (12 and 11 subcarriers) at the boundaries, and DC subcarriers (23 in total) are marked for synchronization purposes.

[0119] In an OFDMA transmission, each RU in a PPDU may be assigned to a specific STA so that multiple STAs data can have their uplink transmissions multiplexed within a single PPDU.

[0120] FIG. 2A is a table that illustrates tone indices corresponding to 20 MHz subchannels in an 80 MHz PPDU. For example, an 80 MHz PPDU 200 includes a highest 20 MHz subchannel 208, second highest 20 MHz subchannel 206, a second lowest 20 MHz subchannel 204, and a lowest 20 MHz subchannel 202.

[0121] FIG. 2B is a table that illustrates a set of 242-tone indices in an 80 MHz PPDU in EHT. The layout 250 includes guard bands at the edges (indices [-512: -501] and [501: 511] ) and null regions at specific intervals, dividing the spectrum into RUs. RU1 occupies indices [-500: -259] , followed by a null region at [-258: -254] . RU2 spans [-253: -12] , with 23 DC subcarriers at the center [-11: 11] . RU3 covers [12: 253] , another null region appears at [254: 258] , and RU4 extends from [259: 500] . As may be appreciated, the format [m: n] represents a range of consecutive indices, beginning at m and ending at n, inclusive of both endpoints. Each value within this range corresponds to an individual index.

[0122] FIG. 3 is a table that illustrates tone arrangement of the 242-tone indices in an 80 MHz EHT PPDU. Table 300 may relate to tone distribution as described in the US patent application No. 63 / 670, 540, the contents of which are incorporated herein by reference in their entirety. In layout 300, RU1 spans [-495: -254] and RU2 covers [-253: -12] . 23 DC subcarriers remain centered at [-11: 11] , with RU3 at [12: 253] and RU4 at [254: 495] . Null tones are positioned at [-500: -496] and [496: 500] . The tone rearrangement shown in layout 300 does not include 12 guard tones at [-512: -501] and 11 guard tones at [501: 511] located at the respective edges of the OFDM symbol.

[0123] In the 6 GHz LPI bands, FCC rules impose stringent limits on the maximum Equivalent Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) power spectral density (PSD) , such as -1 dBm / MHz for non-AP STAs. These restrictions limit transmission range and / or reduce transmission rates.

[0124] The concept of distributed resource unit (DRU) may refer to distributing the data and pilot tones of a contiguously allocated regular Resource Unit (RRU) in an OFDMA system over a broader spectrum shared with other RUs. Thus, a DRU allows for a separation of data and pilot tones that is a multiple of the subcarrier spacing specified in 802.11ax / be, allowing the transmit power of each distributed tone in a DRU to be boosted under the output PSD regulations. Proposals for DRU tone plans for different DRU bandwidths (BWs) , which may also be referred to as distribution bandwidth or distributed bandwidth (DBW) , may not consider subchannel puncturing.

[0125] In US patent application No. 63 / 691, 100, a dual-level tone distribution method is considered to facilitate the design of data / pilot tone plan in DRU, with or without puncturing. This method of tone distribution includes a first-level tone distribution, which organizes universal data, pilot, and null subcarrier indices, idx, for each 20 MHz DRU. FIG. 4 illustrates a first-level tone distribution on the universal data, pilot, and null subcarrier indices, idx, in DRU per 20 MHz.

[0126] FIG. 4 is a table that illustrates a first-level tone distribution for various DRU sizes within a 20 MHz bandwidth, presented with options for the use of 26-tones, 52-tones, 106-tones, and 242-tones. The distribution includes null subcarriers placed at the start and end of the tone indices, with distinct tone allocations for each DRU size. 26-tone DRUs are allocated in groups, with separate indices assigned for DRU1 through DRU9.52-tone DRUs are based on paired 26-tone DRU groups, for example, 52-tone DRU1 is based on 26-tone DRU1 and DRU2. Similarly, 106-tone DRUs combine multiple 26-tone groups, creating two main sets from DRU1-DRU4 and DRU6-DRU9, with null subcarriers at the boundaries. The 242-tone RU spans the full range, covering all subcarrier indices from 0 to 241 in a single, contiguous block. 3 DC subcarriers in 242-tone RRU are not considered.

[0127] Referring to FIG. 4, and provided that the lowest data / pilot subcarrier index in the 242-tone RU of a 20 MHz HE PPDU is ini = -122, with three DC subcarriers located at indices [-1, 0, 1] , the data and pilot subcarrier indices, IDX, for DRUs in a 20 MHz UHR PPDU can be calculated as follows:

[0128] These data and pilot tone indices are illustrated in FIG. 5. FIG. 5 is a table that illustrates a representative 20 MHz UHR PPDU having data and pilot subcarrier indices, IDX, for DRUs. The tone distribution includes 26-tone DRUs including DRU1 through DRU9, with indices specified in intervals, beginning at -122 and extending through positive values. The 52-tone DRUs pair 26-tone units in the same manner as is shown in the example of FIG. 4, with specified null subcarriers in between. The 106-tone DRUs show combined 26-tone blocks (DRU1-DRU4 and DRU6-DRU9) with specific null tones at boundaries. The 242-tone RU extends across indices from -122 to +122.

[0129] According to some embodiments, pilot tone indices are disclosed for DRUs in an 80 MHz UHR PPDU with a DBW of 60 MHz (where a single 20 MHz subchannel is punctured) . These indices are based on subsets of universal data, pilot, and null subcarrier indices in DRU per 20 MHz, which are allocated for pilot tones.

[0130] Pilot tone design may be based on a hierarchical uniform pilot structure, and pilot indices for DRU transmission over 20 MHz, 40 MHz, and 80 MHz are proposed (i.e., in an 80 MHz PPDU with no subchannel punctured) . FIG. 6 is a table that illustrates pilot tone indices for DRU transmission in a 20 MHz PPDU. The illustrated pilot tone indices for a specific DRU are a subset of the data and pilot tone indices for the same DRU shown in FIG. 5. The pilot indices in the hierarchical uniform pilot structure are as follows: {-111, -100, -89, -78, -67, -56, -45, -34, -23, 15, 26, 37, 48, 59, 70, 81, 92, 103} . As may be appreciated, braces {} represent a set of indices comprising the indices listed within the braces.

[0131] The hierarchical uniform pilot structure may designate specific indices for each DRU size to facilitate reliable transmission. In one embodiment, associated with 26-tone DRUs, the pilot tone indices are grouped into nine sets, with each set including two pilot tones, for example, {-111, 15} and {-89, 37} . For 52-tone DRUs, four sets can be displayed, each containing four pilot tones, such as {-111, -89, 15, 37} . 106-tone DRUs can be organized into two sets, with four pilot tones each, such as {-111, -78, 15, 48} .

[0132] In preamble puncturing (subchannel puncturing) , one or multiple 20 MHz subchannels may be unavailable or unallocated for transmission of an RU. Unavailable subchannels may affect distributed subcarriers in a DRU. For example, when a 20 MHz operation STA or an STA transmitting RRU only is multiplexed with an STA with DRU capability across the 20 MHz subchannel boundary in an OFDMA PPDU. The 20 MHz subchannel spectrum assigned for the 20 MHz operation STA or STA transmitting RRU only is also unavailable for the STA with DRU capability across the 20 MHz subchannel boundary. Thus, a “punctured” subchannel is not available for tone distribution in DRU across 20 MHz boundaries. A “punctured subchannel” in DRU may be unavailable for any data transmission, assigned for a regular RU transmission or allocated to a 20 MHz operating only STA. The fact that one 20 MHz subchannel is unavailable ( ‘punctured’ ) for DRU tone distribution across 20 MHz subchannels is equivalent to that the subcarriers in DRUs cannot be distributed to the tone indices corresponding the unavailable subchannel.

[0133] When one 20 MHz subchannel is punctured in an 80 MHz PPDU, the available BW for distributed subcarriers can be up to 60 MHz. Some proposals suggest distributing subcarriers over two narrower DBWs of 20 MHz and 40 MHz. However, these proposals sacrifices the maximum per-tone power boosting gain in DRU. For example, in transmissions of 3x242-tone in an 80 MHz PPDU with one 20 MHz subchannel punctured, if the DBW is 60 MHz, per-tone power can be boosted by 4.7 dB rather than 0 dB and 3 dB gains as proposed some proposals.

[0134] In US patent application No. 63 / 670, 540, the concept of dual-level tone distribution is disclosed. In this concept, the first-level tone distribution provides a one-to-one mapping between 26-, 52-, and 106-tone DRU indices and 242-tone RU indices per 20 MHz. The second-level tone distribution specifies the 242-tone distribution for DBWs (with or without punctured 20 MHz subchannels) in an 80 MHz PPDU, where tone distribution in DRUs is obtained by combining the first-and second-level tone distributions.

[0135] US patent application No. 63 / 691, 100 follows the concept of dual-level tone distribution for tone distribution design in DRUs, as discussed in US patent application No. 63 / 670,540. US patent application No. 63 / 691,100 proposes an improved design for tone mapping in the first-level tone distribution, as shown in FIG. 4, with consideration of 242-tone indices specified in an 80 MHz EHT PPDU, as shown in FIG. 2B.

[0136] Existing proposals for an 80 MHz DBW have limitations as the design of tone distribution does not account for preamble puncturing. Further, the proposal for DRU with subchannel puncturing also has limitations. This proposal sacrifices the maximum per-tone power boosting gain in DRU by using separated, narrower DBWs rather than the maximum available spectrum as the whole DBW.

[0137] Some embodiments may provide an improved design for the DRU pilot tone plan in a PPDU with subchannel puncturing. In some embodiments, individual tones in an RRU for a STA, including pilot tones, are distributed across a DBW that is as large as possible in an OFDMA configuration. In some embodiments, the distribution of individual tones is configured to maximize per-tone power, in compliance with FCC PSD limitation rules. Practical implementation and simplified signaling for tone distribution may also be desirable considerations. In some embodiments, the DRU maintains the same set of DRU sizes as those specified for RRUs in EHT.

[0138] Embodiments may provide for methods and designs for DRU pilot tone indices with consideration of tone distribution in PPDU BWs with subchannel puncturing. One or more embodiments may relate or apply to the standardization of the next generation of WLANs, IEEE 802.11bn (i.e., Wi-Fi 8) . One or more embodiments may apply to Wi-Fi APs and STAs capable of operating in sub-7 GHz bands.

[0139] The granularity of preamble (subchannel) puncturing in EHT may be based on a 20 MHz subchannel. Some embodiments may provide a design for pilot tone distribution in DRUs that utilizes a 20 MHz subchannel granularity. In some embodiments, pilot indices, denoted as idx_p, within the universal data, pilot, and null subcarrier indices in each 20 MHz DRU are within the set {11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, 99, 134, 145, 156, 167, 178, 189, 200, 211, 222} . Pilot tone indices for 52-tone and 106-tone DRUs, as well as for a 242-tone RU per 20 MHz, can be constructed based on the pilot tone indices of 26-tone DRUs per 20 MHz.

[0140] FIG. 7 is a table that illustrates a first-level tone distribution on the universal pilot subcarrier indices, idx_p, in a 20 MHz DRU, according to an embodiment. It is noted that the three DC subcarriers in a 242-tone RU are not considered in FIG. 7. As illustrated in FIG. 7, the 26-tone DRU indices are distributed across nine sets, each containing two tones, such as {11, 134} and {33, 156} . The 52-tone DRU indices are shown in four sets, with each set containing four tones, for example, {11, 33, 134, 156} . 106-tone DRUs are presented in two sets, with indices such as {11, 44, 134, 167} . The 242-tone RU includes indices {11, 44, 66, 99, 134, 167, 189, 222} . the indices in bold refer to the lowest indices, idx, of each 26-tone DRU in the first half (idx <=120) and the second half (idx > 120) , respectively.

[0141] As shown, in the pilot tone indices for DRUs per 20 MHz, the pilot tone indices for a specific DRU are a subset of the data and pilot tone indices of the same DRU shown in FIG. 4.

[0142] According to an embodiment, the 242-tone RU indices in a 20 MHz PPDU are structured to be similar to those specified in 802.11ax, with 242 data and pilot tones allocated within the range [-122: -2, 2: 122] and three DC tones located at [-1, 0, 1] . By setting ini = -122, the pilot tone indices of the 26-, 52-, and 106-tone DRUs, denoted as IDX_P, in a 20 MHz PPDU can be determined using the following equation:

[0143] Based on the rearrangement of EHT data, pilot, and null subcarrier indices for 242-tone RUs in an 80 MHz PPDU, as shown in FIG. 3, puncturing the highest 20 MHz subchannel results in indices [254: 495] being punctured or excluded. According to an embodiment, data and pilot tones for three 242-tone DRUs may then be distributed only across indices [-495: 253] , with the exception of [-11: 11] , where 23 DC tones are located in an 80 MHz PPDU.

[0144] According to an embodiment, intermediate 242-tone DRU data and pilot tone indices, denoted as IDX_inter, in are defined for a DBW of 60 MHz where the highest 20 MHz subchannel is punctured, as shown in FIG. 8. FIG. 8 is a table that illustrates intermediate 242-tone data and pilot tone indices, IDX_inter, in an 80 MHz UHR PPDU with a 60 MHz DBW, where the highest 20 MHz subchannel is punctured, according to an embodiment.

[0145] According to an embodiment, the data and pilot tone index, IDX_inter, may be calculated based on the corresponding data / pilot tone index as per equation (2) : where ini = -495, -493, and -494 for 242-tone DRU1, DRU2, and DRU3, respectively.

[0146] The set of 242-tone DRU1 data and pilot indices may be denoted as [DRU_base_60] . The data and pilot indices for 242-tone DRU2 and DRU3 may be obtained by right-shifting [DRU_base_60] by either 2 or 1 positions, respectively.

[0147] The notation  indicates equivalence, and “-> i” denotes that the tone indices are right-shifted by i positions, (the number of shifted positions is not counted when a shifted index falls into [-11: 11] ) .

[0148] According to an embodiment, based on the universal pilot subcarrier indices in DRU per 20 MHz defined in FIG. 7 (where idx_p∈ {11, 44, 66, 99, 134, 167, 189, 222} ) and Eq. (2) (where IDX_inter and idx are replaced with IDX_P_inter and idx_p, respectively) , the pilot tone indices for 242-tone DRU1, DRU2 and DRU3 in an 80 MHz UHR PPDU with a 60 MHz DBW (where the highest 20 MHz subchannel is punctured) are defined as shown in FIG. 9. FIG. 9 is a table that illustrates the 242-tone pilot tone indices, IDX_P_inter, in an 80 MHz UHR PPDU with a 60 MHz DBW, where the highest 20 MHz subchannel is punctured, according to an embodiment. This figure specifies intermediate pilot indices within each 242-tone DRU (DRU1, DRU2, and DRU3) , detailing the locations of pilot tones in DRU1 (e.g., {-462, -363, -297, -198, -93, 29, 95, 194} ) . The intermediate pilot indices in DRU2 and DRU3 are obtained by shifting DRU1 indices by 2 and 1 positions, respectively.

[0149] Universal pilot subcarrier indices, idx_p, in 26-tone DRUs per 20 MHz have been shown in FIG. 7. These indices are related to the lowest values of idx in the first-half indices of {idx} , i.e., [0: 120] , and the second-half indices of {idx} , i.e., [121: 241] shown in FIG. 4 for the corresponding 26-tone DRU. For example, for 26-tone DRU1, the pilot index idx_p = 11 shown in FIG. 7 is related to idx = 2 shown in FIG. 4, as idx_p = idx +1*9, while idx_p = 134 shown in FIG. 7 is related to idx = 125 shown in FIG. 4 as idx_p = idx +1*9. FIG. 10 is a table that illustrates the mappings between indices of idx and idx_inter, according to an embodiment. FIG. 10 details how indices in 26-tone DRUs (DRU1 through DRU9) align with intermediate indices within each corresponding 242-tone DRU (DRU1, DRU2, and DRU3) when puncturing is applied. The figure displays mappings for DRUs with idx values, such as {2, 125} for DRU1, and their corresponding IDX_inter values in each 242-tone DRU configuration, like {-489, -120} for DRU1 in 242-tone DRU1. This structured mapping approach ensures that data and pilot tones are accurately positioned within each DRU, accommodating both distribution needs and puncturing scenarios in an 80 MHz PPDU.

[0150] According to an embodiment, based on the rearrangement of EHT data, pilot and null subcarrier indices of 242-tone RUs in an 80 MHz PPDU, as shown in FIG. 3, intermediate 26-tone DRU data and pilot tone indices, IDX_inter, may be defined for 242-tone DRU1 with a DBW of 60 MHz (where the highest 20 MHz subchannel is punctured) are defined as shown in FIG. 11.

[0151] FIG. 11 is a table that illustrates intermediate 26-tone DRU data and pilot tone indices related to 242-tone DRU1, in an 80 MHz PPDU with a DBW of 60 MHz where the highest 20 MHz subchannel is punctured, according to an embodiment. FIG. 11 shows how data and pilot tone indices are allocated within each of the nine 26-tone DRUs (DRU1 through DRU9) across the available bandwidth. The 242-tone DRU1 indices are defined within the range [-495: 3: -12, 14: 3: 251] , which form the basis for the tone distribution across the 26-tone DRUs. As may be appreciated, the format [o: p: q] represents a set of indices defined by a range specified as [start: step: end] . In this format, start denotes the first index in the range, step denotes the incremental value, or tone separation, used to calculate subsequent indices, and end denotes the final index in the range, which is inclusive. The indices within the set are generated by starting at the start value and incrementing by the step value until the result exceeds the end value, at which point the range is complete.

[0152] According to an embodiment, the 26-tone data and pilot indices presented in FIG. 11 are obtained based on FIG. 4 and Eq. (2) , where ini=-495, and IDX_inter = ini + idx*3.

[0153] According to an embodiment, based on the design of universal pilot subcarrier indices in DRU per 20 MHz, for example as in FIG. 7, and the mappings between some indices of idx and idx_inter, as shown in FIG. 10, intermediate 26-, 52-, and 106-tone DRU pilot tone indices, IDX_P_inter, corresponding to 242-tone DRU_base_60 can be obtained as shown in FIG. 12.

[0154] FIG. 12 is a table that illustrates intermediate 26-, 52-, 106-tone DRU pilot tone indices, IDX_P_inter, related to 242-tone DRU_base_60 in an 80 MHz PPDU with a DBW of 60 MHz, where the highest 20 MHz subchannel is punctured, according to an embodiment. The pilot tone indices for each of the 26-tone, 52-tone, and 106-tone DRUs are derived from the 242-tone DRU1. The figure provides a hierarchical view of the tone indices for different DRU sizes.

[0155] In some embodiments, in calculating intermediate pilot tone indices of 26-tone DRUs, as shown in FIG. 12, if z = x +y*9*3 ≤ -12, then IDX_P_inter = z; if z = x +y*9*3 > -12, then IDX_P_inter = z + 23. In some embodiments, the variable x represents the lowest value of IDX_inter within either the first-half or second-half indices of the set {IDX_inter} . For example, in the context of a 26-tone DRU1 illustrated in FIG. 11, x may be equal to -489. In some embodiments, the variable y is a factor associated with the allocation of pilot index positions relative to x, with its value determining the offset applied. For instance, as shown in FIG. 7, the first pilot index is calculated as 11 = 2 + 1*9, where y equals 1. In some embodiments, the variable y is further utilized to compute IDX_P_inter, as illustrated in FIG. 12, where IDX_P_inter is determined as -462 based on the relationship IDX_P_inter = x + y*9*3.

[0156] According to an embodiment, based on the rearrangement of EHT data, pilot and null subcarrier indices of 242-tone RUs in an 80 MHz PPDU, as shown in FIG. 3, intermediate 26-tone DRU data and pilot tone indices, IDX_inter, which are related to 242-tone DRU2 with a DBW of 60 MHz (where the highest 20 MHz subchannel is punctured) are defined as shown in FIG. 13.

[0157] FIG. 13 is a table that illustrates intermediate 26-tone DRU data and pilot tone indices related to 242-tone DRU2, in an 80 MHz PPDU with a DBW of 60 MHz where the highest 20 MHz subchannel is punctured, according to an embodiment. FIG. 13 presents how data and pilot tone indices are allocated across the nine 26-tone DRUs (DRU10 through DRU18) . These indices are right-shifted by two positions compared to those of DRU1 in FIG. 11.

[0158] According to an embodiment, the 26-tone data and pilot indices shown in FIG. 13 are based, at least in part, on FIG. 4 and Eq. (2) , where ini = -493. In some embodiments, the data, pilot and null tone indices of a DRU in FIG. 13 may be obtained by right-shifting by 2 positions the corresponding indices of the corresponding DRU in FIG. 11. If after right-shifted by two positions, a tone index falls within [-11: 11] , the tone index is recalculated by adding 23 to skip the 23 DC tone indices.

[0159] According to an embodiment, based on the design of universal pilot subcarrier indices in DRU per 20 MHz, as shown in FIG. 7, and the mappings between some indices of idx and idx_inter as shown in FIG. 10, intermediate 26-, 52-, 106-tone DRU pilot tone indices, IDX_P_inter, related to 242-tone DRU2 can be obtained as shown in FIG. 14. FIG. 14 is a table that illustrates intermediate 26-, 52-, 106-tone DRU pilot tone indices, IDX_P_inter, related to 242-tone DRU2 in an 80 MHz PPDU with a DBW of 60 MHz, where the highest 20 MHz subchannel is punctured, according to an embodiment. FIG. 14 shows the pilot tone indices for each 26-tone, 52-tone, and 106-tone DRU based on the tone mapping for 242-tone DRU2. The pilot tone indices are presented hierarchically and are right-shifted by 2 tone positions compared to the intermediate pilot tone indices of DRU1 as shown in FIG. 12.

[0160] In some embodiments, the calculation of intermediate pilot tone indices of 26-tone DRUs in FIG. 14 is similar to calculation of intermediate pilot tone indices in FIG. 12. In some embodiments, the intermediate pilot tone indices of a DRU, which are related to 242-tone DRU2, can be obtained by right-shifting, by 2 positions, the intermediate pilot tone indices of the corresponding DRU, which are related to DRU1.

[0161] According to an embodiment, based on the rearrangement of EHT data, pilot and null subcarrier indices of 242-tone RUs in an 80 MHz PPDU, as shown in FIG. 3, intermediate 26-tone DRU data and pilot tone indices, IDX_inter, which are related to 242-tone DRU3 with a DBW of 60 MHz (where the highest 20 MHz subchannel is punctured) are defined as shown in FIG. 15.

[0162] FIG. 15 is a table that illustrates intermediate 26-tone DRU data and pilot tone indices related to 242-tone DRU3, in an 80 MHz PPDU with a DBW of 60 MHz where the highest 20 MHz subchannel is punctured, according to an embodiment. FIG. 15 shows the allocation of data and pilot tone indices across nine 26-tone DRUs (DRU19 through DRU27) . The tone indices in FIG. 15 are right-shifted by one position compared to the tone indices in FIG. 11. If after right-shifted by one position, a tone index falls within [-11: 11] , the tone index is recalculated by adding 23 to skip the 23 DC tone indices.

[0163] The 26-tone data and pilot indices presented in FIG. 15 are obtained based on FIG. 4 and Eq. (2) , where ini = -494. In some embodiments, the data, pilot and null tone indices of a DRU in FIG. 15 may be obtained by right-shifting by 1 position the corresponding indices of the corresponding DRU in FIG. 11.

[0164] According to an embodiment, based on the design of universal pilot subcarrier indices in DRU per 20 MHz, as shown in FIG. 7, and the mappings between some indices of idx and idx_inter as shown in FIG. 10, intermediate 26-, 52-, 106-tone DRU pilot tone indices, IDX_P_inter, related to 242-tone DRU3 can be obtained as shown in FIG. 16.

[0165] FIG. 16 is a table that illustrates intermediate 26-, 52-, 106-tone DRU pilot tone indices, IDX_P_inter, related to 242-tone DRU3 in an 80 MHz PPDU with a DBW of 60 MHz where the highest 20 MHz subchannel is punctured, according to an embodiment.

[0166] In some embodiments, the calculation of intermediate pilot tone indices of 26-tone DRUs in FIG. 16 is similar to calculation of intermediate pilot tone indices in FIG. 12. In some embodiments, the intermediate pilot tone indices of a DRU, which are related to 242-tone DRU3, can be obtained by right-shifting, by 1 position, the intermediate pilot tone indices of the corresponding DRU, which are related to DRU1.

[0167] According to another embodiment, in an 80 MHz PPDU with a 60 MHz DBW, where the highest 20 MHz subchannel is punctured, DRU pilot tone indices (IDX_P) can be determined based on the EHT tone plan specified for an 80 MHz EHT PPDU, as shown in FIG. 2B. The DRU pilot tone indices, IDX_P, as illustrated in FIG. 17, FIG. 18 and FIG. 19, can be obtained from the corresponding intermediate DRU tone indices (IDX_P_inter) shown in FIG. 12, FIG. 14 and FIG. 16 respectively. These intermediate tone indices, which may be designed based on FIG. 3 can be used to obtain the DRU pilot tone indices, IDX_P, according to tone shifting as follows: if IDX_P_inter ≤ -254, then IDX_P = IDX_P_inter <-5 (i.e., left-shifted by 5) ; else if -254 < IDX_P_inter < 254, then IDX_P = IDX_P_inter.

[0168] FIG. 17 is a table that illustrates 26-, 52-, and 106-tone DRU pilot tone indices, IDX_P, related to 242-tone DRU1 in an 80 MHz PPDU with a 60 MHz DBW, where the highest 20 MHz subchannel is punctured, according to an embodiment. The DRU pilot tone indices for different DRU sizes are illustrated based on the 242-tone DRU1.

[0244] According to an embodiment, in reference to FIG. 58B, pilot tone indices of each 242-tone DRU are associated with data and pilot tone indices comprising both data indices and the pilot tone indices of the 242-tone DRU. In some embodiments, the 242-tone DRU is a 242-tone DRU1, and the corresponding data and pilot tone indices comprise: [-500: 3: -260, -252: 3: -12, 14: 3: 251] . In some embodiments, the 242-tone DRU is a 242-tone DRU2, and the corresponding data and pilot tone indices comprise: [-498: 3: -261, -253: 3: -13, 13: 3: 253] . In some embodiments, the 242-tone DRU is a 242-tone DRU3, and the corresponding data and pilot tone indices comprise: [-499: 3: -259, -251: 3: -14, 12: 3: 252] .

[0245] According to an embodiment, the tone indices for the 27 26-tone DRU can be listed as shown in FIG. 59A and 59B. FIG. 59A and FIG 59B are tables that illustrate tone indices for all 26-tone DRUs of an 80 MHz PPDU with a DBW of 60 MHz, according to an embodiment. Table 5900 and 5950 provide data and pilot indices of the 26-tone DRU1 to DRU26 according to an embodiment. Table 5900 includes columns 5901 to 5913, which are associated with tone indices -494 to -139 as shown and correspond to a first 13 tones of the 26-tone DRUs. Table 5950 includes columns 5914 to 5926 associated with tone indices -126 to -12 and 12 to 247 as shown. Tone indices provided by columns 5914 to 5926 correspond to a second 13 tones of the 26-tone DRUs. As may be appreciated, according to a tone plan design, for 26-, 52-and 106-tone DRUs, indices -138 to -127 are allocated for null tones, and indices -11 to 11 are allocated to the 23 DC tones.

[0246] According to an embodiment, tables 5900 and 5950 include a plurality of marginal areas, indicated in gray, within tone indices of the available DBW. According to an embodiment, the plurality of marginal areas are regions comprising tones with either only one neighboring tone (e.g., have only one either left or right neighbor) or a separation greater than a separation threshold from a neighboring tone (e.g., have a distance to the nearest neighbor that is greater than the separation threshold) . In some embodiments, the separation threshold is 32, but other appropriate values may be used as the separation threshold.

[0247] According to an embodiment, as illustrated in FIG. 59A and FIG. 59B, the tones for all 26-tone DRUs are divided into a plurality of parts that are formed based on the marginal areas of tone indices indicated in gray. According to an embodiment, one or more parts of the tone indices are formed based on the plurality of marginal areas, and each part of comprising tones located between successive marginal areas. For example, a first part of tone indices includes columns 5902 to 5912, a second part of tone indices includes columns 5915 to 5917, and a third part includes columns 5919 to 5925 as shown. According to an embodiment, when considering the null tones in the range of [-258: 254] , these tones can be ignored. Instead, the relative distance between adjacent tones may be used to design the pilot indices.

[0248] According to an embodiment, the tones in the marginal area (s) (indicated in gray in FIG. 59A and FIG. 59B) may be avoided as candidate pilot tone indices as they provide limited assistance to neighboring tones when channel smoothing or other correction algorithms are applied. According to an embodiment, the pilot tone indices may be distributed near-uniformlyinthe DBW. This near uniform distribution may minimize the impact of narrowband interference or frequency-selective fading, as only a limited number of pilots may be affected in such scenarios. According to an embodiment, one pilot tone may be sampled for every consecutive ten tones in each part of the one or more parts of tone indices formed based on the marginal areas. In some embodiments, 30 pilot tone indices may be selected from the first part of tone indices associated with columns 5902 to 5912 by sampling one pilot tone for every consecutive ten tones. In some embodiments, 6 pilot tone indices may be selected from the second part of tone indices associated with columns 5915 to 5917 by sampling one pilot tone for every consecutive ten tones. In some embodiments, 18 pilot tone indices may be selected from the third part of tone indices associated with columns 5919 to 5925 by sampling one pilot tone for every consecutive ten tones.

[0249] According to an embodiment, by limiting each 26-tone DRU to two pilot tones, a first set of pilot tone indices for all 26-tone DRUs may be determined as follows: {-466, -456, -446, -436, -426, -416, -406, -396, -386, -376, -366, -356, -346, -336, -326, -316, -306, -296, -286, -276, -266, -251, -241, -231, -221, -211, -201, -191, -181, -171, -89, -79, -69, -59, -49, -39, 48, 58, 68, 78, 88, 98, 108, 118, 128, 138, 148, 158, 168, 178, 188, 198, 208, 218} .

[0250] According to an embodiment, by limiting each 26-tone DRU to two pilot tones, a second set of pilot tone indices for all 26-tone DRUs is determined as follows: {-467, -457, -447, -437, -427, -417, -407, -397, -387, -377, -367, -357, -347, -337, -327, -317, -307, -297, -287, -277, -267, -252, -242, -232, -222, -212, -202, -192, -182, -172, -90, -80, -70, -60, -50, -40, 47, 57, 67, 77, 87, 97, 107, 117, 127, 137, 147, 157, 167, 177, 187, 197, 207, 217} . As may be appreciated, the second set of pilot tone indices is shifted by one tone position to the right relative to the first set of pilot tone indices

[0251] According to an embodiment, a 52-tone DRU comprises four pilot tones associated with pilot tones of two 26-tone DRUs. In some embodiments, each 52-tone DRU is associated with or corresponds to two 26-tone DRUs.

[0262] According to an embodiment, in reference to FIG. 61, each 26-tone DRU may comprises two pilot tones associated with pilot tone indices determined in accordance with at least one of the following sets of indices: {-467, -192} , {-347, 77} , {-407, -60} , {-287, 137} , {-222, 197} , {-437, -90} , {-317, 107} , {-377, 47} , {-252, 167} , {-357, 67} , {-232, 187} , {-297, 127} , {-447, -172} , {-387, -40} , {-327, 97} , {-202, 217} , {-267, 157} , {-417, -70} , {-277, 147} , {-427, -80} , {-212, 207} , {-367, 57} , {-307, 117} , {-242, 177} , {-397, -50} , {-457, -182} , {-337, 87} .

[0263] According to an embodiment, in reference to FIG. 61, each 52-tone DRU comprises four pilot tones associated with pilot tone indices determined in accordance with at least one of the following sets of indices: {-467, -347, -192, 77} , {-407, -287, -60, 137} , {-437, -317, -90, 107} , {-377, -252, 47, 167} , {-357, -232, 67, 187} , {-447, -297, -172, 127} , {-327, -202, 97, 217} , {-417, -267, -70, 157} , {-427, -277, -80, 147} , {-367, -212, 57, 207} , {-397, -242, -50, 177} , {-457, -337, -182, 87} .

[0264] According to an embodiment, in reference to FIG. 61, each 106-tone DRU may comprise four pilot tones associated with pilot tone indices determined in accordance with at least one of the following sets of indices: {-467, -287, -192, 77} , {-437, -252, -90, 47} , {-447, -232, -172, 67} , {-417, -267, -70, 97} , {-427, -277, -80, 57} , {-457, -242, -182, 87} .

[0265] According to an embodiment, in reference to FIG. 61, each 242-tone DRU may comprise eight pilot tones associated with pilot tone indices determined in accordance with at least one of the following sets of indices: {-467, -437, -287, -252, -192, -90, 47, 77} , {-447, -417, -267, -232, -172, -70, 67, 97} , {-457, -427, -277, -242, -182, -80, 57, 87} .

[0266] As can be observed from tables 6000 and 6100, a shift can be applied to the pilot indices of any one 242-tone DRU to obtain the pilot indices for any other 242-tone DRUs, which indicates that the 242-tone DRU have a fixed pilot pattern.

[0267] Since larger DRUs can potentially achieve greater gains from channel smoothing, a fixed pilot tone pattern may simplify the design of smoothing filters. One or more embodiments may allow for near-uniform pilot tone index spacing with adequate tone separation, for example, a minimum separation of 10. One or more embodiments may allow for increased separation of pilot tones for smaller DRUs to ensure diversity, for example, each 26-tone DRU comprises two pilot tones across the distribution bandwidth for phase tracking. One or more embodiments may achieve a minimum pilot index separation of 275 for the 26-tone DRU. Some embodiments may provide a fixed pilot pattern for the 242-tone DRU which can reduce the implementation complexity.

[0268] DRU BW or (DBW) may be indicated by using 2 bits of SS Allocation subfield in User Info field of the UHR trigger frame as shown in FIG. 62. FIG. 62 is a table that illustrates DRU BW indication. As illustrated, two bits may be used to indicate a BW of 20 MHz, 40 MHz, and 80 MHz.

[0269] In EHT, a trigger frame includes a Common Info field, a Special User Info field, and a User Info field. The BW for uplink (UL) transmission can be specified in one or more subfields, including an UL BW subfield and an UL BW Extension subfield. The UL BW subfield is defined in the EHT variant Common Info field, and the UL Bandwidth Extension subfield is defined in the Special User Info field. FIG. 63 is a table that illustrates a Special User Info field. The Special User Info field 6300 includes the UL Bandwidth Extension subfield 6302, which can be used to indicate the BW for UL transmission. The Special User Info Field 6300 further includes a U-SIG Disregard And Validate subfield 6304 comprising bits B25-B36, which are reserved.

[0270] In some embodiments, the DRU BW is indicated using 2 bits in each User Info field of the UHR trigger frame. In some embodiments, a bit value “11” is used to indicate a DRU BW of 60 MHz. FIG. 64 is a table that illustrates indication of DRU BW, according to an embodiment. In some embodiments, two bits of SS allocation subfield can be set to “11” to indicate DRU BW of 60 MHz as illustrated.

[0271] According to some embodiments, the Special User Info field of a UHR trigger frame is used to indicate one or more of: DRU feature, DRU BW, and puncturing patterns per 80 MHz. In some embodiments, one or more bits from the reserved bits (B37 to B39) and U-SIG Disregard And Validate bits specified in EHT is used to indicate one or more of: DRU feature, DRU BW, and puncturing patterns per 80 MHz.

[0272] In some embodiments, a single bit is used to indicate if an 80 MHz subblock is allocated for DRU or RRU when the UL BW is 80, 160, or 320 MHz. In some embodiments, when an 80 MHz subblock is indicated for DRU, 2 or more bits are used to indicate DRU BW, such as 20, 40, 60 and 80 MHz, for this 80 MHz subblock. In some embodiments, when DRU BW is indicated as 60 MHz, 1 or more bits are used to indicate which 20 MHz subchannel is punctured within an 80 MHz subblock.

[0278] In some embodiments, processor 6510 is configured for performing various processing operations such one or more of: as signal coding, data processing, power control, input / output processing, and any other suitable functionalities to enable the apparatus 6500 to access and join the communication system 6600 (shown in FIG. 66) and operate therein.

[0279] In some embodiments, the transceiver 6560 may be configured for modulating data or other content for transmission by the at least one antenna to communicate with an AP for example. The transceiver 6560 may also be configured for demodulating data or other content received by the at least one antenna. Each transceiver 6560 may include any suitable structure for generating signals for wireless transmission and / or processing signals received wirelessly. Each antenna may include any suitable structure for transmitting and / or receiving wireless signals. Although shown as a single functional unit, a transceiver 6560 may be implemented separately as at least one transmitter and at least one receiver.

[0280] FIG. 66 illustrates a communication system 6600, according to an embodiment of the present application. The communication system 6600 may be a WI-FI system built under relevant standards, such as IEEE 8802.11 standard, for example, for a WLAN prioritizing UHR. The communication system 6600 includes a plurality of interconnected networking devices 6602, such as a plurality of interconnected access points (APs such as WI-FI 8 APs; which may also be referred to as “base stations” ) forming a distribution system (DS) 6604 which is connected to other networks, such as the Internet 6606, which may include a network of computers and subnets (intranets) or both, and incorporate protocols, such as Internet Protocol (IP) , Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) , User Datagram Protocol (UDP) , and / or the like.

[0281] Each AP 6602 is in wireless communication with one or more mobile or stationary stations 6612 (STAs) through respective wireless channels 6614 for providing wireless network connections thereto. Herein, the APs 6602 and STAs 6612 may be considered as different types of network nodes (or simply “nodes” ) of the communication system 6600. Together, each AP 6602 and the STAs 6612 connected thereto form a cell or basic service set (BSS) 6618.

[0282] In embodiments, the STAs 6612 may be any suitable wireless device that may join the communication system 6600 via an AP 6602 for wireless operation. In various embodiments, a STA 6612 may be a wireless electronic device used by a human or user (such as a smartphone, a cellphone, a personal digital assistant (PDA) , a laptop, a desktop computer, a tablet, a smart watch, a consumer electronics device, and / or the like) . An STA 6612 may be a wireless sensor, an Internet-of-things (IoT) device, a robot, a shopping cart, a vehicle, a smart TV, a smart appliance, a wireless transmit / receive unit (WTRU) , a mobile station, or the like. Depending on the implementation or application, the STA 6612 may be movable autonomously or under the direct and / or remote control of a human or may be positioned at a fixed position.

[0283] In some embodiments, an STA 6612 may be a multimode wireless electronic device capable of operation according to multiple radio access technologies and incorporate multiple transceivers necessary to support such.

[0284] In embodiments, some or all of the STAs 6612 include functionality for communicating with different wireless devices and / or wireless networks via different wireless links using different wireless technologies and / or protocols. Instead of wireless communication (or in addition thereto) , some or all of STAs 6612 may communicate via wired communication channels to other devices or switches (not shown) , and to the Internet 6606. For example, a plurality of STAs 6612 (such as STAs 6612 in proximity with each other) may communicate with each other directly via suitable wired or wireless sidelinks.

[0285] In the communication between the AP 6602 and the STA 6612, a transmission from the STA 6612 to the AP 6602 may typically be denoted as an uplink (UL) , and the wireless channel used therefor is denoted an uplink channel. A transmission from the AP 6602 to the STA 6612 may typically be denoted as a downlink (DL) , and the wireless channel used therefor is denoted a downlink channel. Suitable modulation technologies may be used for communication between the AP 6602 and the STA 6612. For example, in some embodiments, orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) may be used wherein the channel 6614 is partitioned into a plurality orthogonal subchannels for communication between the AP 6602 and the STA 6612. In embodiments where a plurality of STAs 6612 is in communication with a same AP 6602, suitable multiple-access technologies may be used. For example, in some embodiments, orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) may be used for communication between the AP 6602 and STAs 6612.

[0286] Some wireless communication systems use OFDMA for multiple access. Generally, OFDMA uses OFDM for multiple users to transmit data at the same time.

[0287] For example, a device, such as an AP 6602 or an STA 6612, transmits data using PPDUs. A PPDU contains a preamble and a data field containing an OFDM symbol. As readily understood by a person skilled in the art, an OFDM symbol combines data elements into a plurality of subcarriers (also referred to as “tones” ) and uses the so-called “cyclic prefix” for combating inter-symbol interferences.

[0288] In embodiments, the wireless communication system 6600 or more specifically a one or more AP 6602 or one or more STA 6612 thereof may use DRUs that may include non-consecutive subcarriers or tones that substantially span the whole BW. Thus, the subcarriers of the DRU may be allocated across the entire OFDMA BW.

[0289] FIG. 67A illustrates an example apparatus 6710, according to an embodiment of the present application. The apparatus 6710 may be a communication device or an apparatus implemented in a communication device in one or more embodiments described herein. For example, the apparatus implemented in a communication device may be an integrated circuit, which in some contexts may be known by other colloquial names, such as chip, modem, modem chip, baseband chip, or baseband processor. In some implementations, one or more integrated circuits can be packaged into a system-on-chip, a system-in-package, or a multi-chip module. The apparatus may comprise one or more integrated circuits or comprise one or more integrated circuits and other discrete components. In some implementations, the apparatus 6710 may be similar to or a module in apparatus 6500.

[0290] In an example, the apparatus 6710 may include one or more processors / processor cores 6711, and an interface circuit 6712. The apparatus 6710 may further include a memory 6713. The one or more processors  / processor cores 6711 are configured to process signals and execute one or more communication protocols. The memory 6713 is configured to store at least a part of corresponding computer program instructions and / or data. In an example, the one or more processors (or processor cores) 6711 execute the computer program instructions stored in the memory 6713 to implement related operations (for example, inputting, outputting, receiving, and transmitting) in the foregoing method embodiments. In some implementations, the memory 6713 being configured to store the corresponding computer program instructions and / or data may mean that the memory 6713 is configured to store all of the corresponding computer program instructions and / or data for execution by the one or more processors / processor cores 6711. In some implementations, the memory 6713 being configured to store the corresponding computer program instructions and / or data may mean that the memory 6713 is configured to store a part of the corresponding computer program instructions and / or data. For example, the part of the corresponding computer program instructions and / or data include computer program instructions and / or data that need to be currently executed by the one or more processors / processor cores 6711. Thus, the memory 6713 may store different parts of computer program instructions and / or data for a plurality times for the one or more processors (or processor cores) 6711 to perform related operations in the foregoing method embodiments. As a communication interface, the interface circuit 6712 is configured to implement communication with another component. For example, the interface circuit 6712 may communicate a signal with other apparatus / system such as a radio frequency processing apparatus, or processor system. Optionally, to reduce a load of the processor core, a baseband signal processing circuit 6714 may be also disposed to implement processing of at least a part of baseband signals, including signal demodulation, modulation, encoding, decoding, or the like.

[0291] Apparatus 6710 may be processor 6510 in apparatus 6500, in some scenario, or included in processor 6510 in apparatus 6500. Apparatus 6710 may be or include a baseband chip. In some implementations, the apparatus 6710 may be independently packaged into a chip. In some implementations, the apparatus 6710 includes different types of chips. The apparatus 6710 may be packaged into a processor chip (for example, a SoC chip or an SIP chip) with the different types of chips. In some implementations, the apparatus 6710 may be packaged into a chip with some or all of circuits of a radio frequency processing system that may further included in the apparatus 6500.
