Abstract

A method for container (130) handling between a container transport vehicle (100) and a container handling machine (104) is provided. The vehicle (100) includes a control unit (114) and at least one twistlock (102) to secure a container (130). The machine (104) has a control unit (108) and a container handling mechanism (106). Status information is transmitted from the vehicle (100) to the machine control unit (108). Based on this information, the machine (104) determines whether the vehicle (100) is ready to receive or release a container (130). The machine (104) sends a control request to the vehicle (100), which then transmits a control signal to the twistlock (102). The twistlock (102) is actuated to move between a secure and a release position in response to the control signal.
