Abstract
Description
[0001] DESCRIPTION
[0002] SHOWER OR BATH DOOR HANDLE
[0003] Object of the invention
[0004] The invention, as stated in the present descriptive report, refers to a handle for a shower or bath screen door that provides advantages and characteristics to the function for which it is intended, which are described in detail below.
[0005] More specifically, the object of the invention focuses on a handle, specifically a handle comprising two parts and specially designed for use on shower or bath screen doors with two leaves, one upper and one lower, being configured so that, by simply pressing a button, the two parts of the handle can be joined with both leaves so that they open together like a conventional door or remain independent to open only one of the two leaves.
[0006] Field of application of the invention
[0007] The field of application of the present invention falls within the sector of the industry dedicated to the manufacture of shower and bath screens, focusing particularly on the field of accessories for them, specifically on handles and pulls for doors.
[0008] Background of the invention
[0009] The problem that the present invention seeks to solve is that of people with reduced mobility when using the shower or bath. Often, with these individuals, especially when they require assistance from a caregiver for hygiene in the shower or bath, a partition with a double door, one upper and one lower, is installed. This allows access by opening both doors and, subsequently, opening only the upper one so that the caregiver can assist the person from outside without the water overflowing.
[0010] The problem is that, since the door is divided into two parts, the joining and separation of both when you want to use it as a conventional door or separately, either does not exist or has to be done using fixing mechanisms that require the use of both hands.
[0011] The objective of the present invention is, therefore, to facilitate the opening of the door so that it is easier to open both parts at the same time or to open only one of them, with one hand using a handle specially designed for this purpose.
[0012] Furthermore, and with reference to the current state of the art, it should be noted that, at least as far as the applicant is concerned, there is no knowledge of any other handle, nor any other invention of similar application for shower or bath screen doors that presents technical and structural characteristics equal or similar to those claimed herein.
[0013] Explanation of the invention
[0014] The handle for shower or bath screen door proposed by the invention provides an ideal solution to the problem described, with the characterizing details that make it possible and that distinguish it being conveniently included in the final claims that accompany this description.
[0015] What the invention proposes, as previously mentioned, is a handle for shower or bath screen doors, specifically for double doors, one upper and one lower, which has the particularity of comprising a push-button mechanism that allows joining or separating the two parts into which the handle is divided to open both leaves of the door together or to open each one independently.
[0016] To this end, and more specifically, the handle that is the subject of the invention essentially comprises two parts, each consisting of an L-shaped piece that is symmetrically coupled to each other at one end and fixed at the opposite end, respectively, to each of the two leaves of the door, so that together they define a C-shaped body that is fixed between both leaves of the door. Inside the upper piece, there is a locking system with a push button whose activation determines the movement of the same to join both parts of the handle together, forming a solid unit that allows both leaves of the door to be opened at the same time. If the push button is not activated, the locking system is unlocked, so that each of the two parts of the handle is independent, allowing one leaf of the door or the other to be opened independently.
[0017] It should be noted, however, that the push button can also be designed to work in reverse, that is, when the push button is pressed, both parts of the lever separate, and when not pressed, they remain joined together.
[0018] Preferably, the locking system consists of a sliding vertical rod provided inside the upper part which, in the lowered position of the push button being activated, moves downwards until it penetrates a recess inside the lower part, thus joining both parts of the lever.
[0019] Optionally, the push button is provided with a locking mechanism, for example by means of a spring and ratchet system, which allows that, when pressed once, it is locked in the lowered operating position, that is, with the stem of the upper part locked in the lower part to use the handle as a single unit and, when pressed again, retracts it back to the initial raised rest position in which the stem does not penetrate the lower part and both parts of the handle can be used separately to open one leaf or the other of the door.
[0020] Preferably, the push button is located directly above the upper end of the sliding stem of the upper part of the handle, so that when holding the handle in your hand, it can be easily operated with your thumb to separate both leaves of the door when needed using only one hand.
[0021] Preferably, the ends of the two handle pieces that are attached to the respective door leaves comprise an anchoring element that is fixed by screwing through the inside of the glass of said door leaves through a hole made for this purpose in them.
[0022] Description of the drawings
[0023] To complement the description being made and in order to help a better understanding of the characteristics of the invention, this descriptive report is accompanied, as an integral part thereof, by a set of drawings in which the following has been represented for illustrative and non-limiting purposes: Figures number 1-A and 1-B.- Show two perspective views of an example embodiment of the handle for a shower or bath screen door that is the subject of the invention, represented with the push button in the activated locking position, Figure 1-A showing its external configuration and Figure 1-B its internal configuration by means of dashed lines, showing the main parts and elements it comprises and their arrangement.
[0024] Figures 2-A and 2-B show two other views of the lever of the invention, similar to those shown in the preceding figures, in this case represented with the push button not activated and, therefore, with the two parts of the lever separated.
[0025] Figure number 3 shows a perspective view of the two door leaves opened independently with the respective parts of the handle separated.
[0026] And figures number 4-A and 4-B.- Show a perspective view of the assembly of the two-leaf door of a partition with the handle object of the invention, represented in figure 4-A with both leaves joined together with the handle and with the two leaves opened separately each with a part of the handle.
[0027] Preferred embodiment of the invention
[0028] In view of the aforementioned figures, and in accordance with the numbering adopted, one can observe in them an example of a non-limiting embodiment of the handle for a shower or bath screen door of the invention, which comprises what is indicated and described in detail below.
[0029] Thus, as can be seen in the figures, the handle (1) that is the subject of the invention is specifically intended for incorporation into a door (2) consisting of two independent leaves, an upper one (2.1) and a lower one (2.2), and essentially comprises:
[0030] - a first part or upper part (3) which, formed by an inverted L-shaped piece, is fixed at an upper end to the upper leaf (2.1) of the door (2);
[0031] - a second part or lower part (4), consisting of an L-shaped piece, which is fixed at one lower end to the lower leaf (2.2) of the door (2); and
[0032] ■ a locking system (5) with a push button (6) whose activation allows the two parts (3, 4) of the handle (1) to be joined together, defining together a C-shaped body between both leaves (2.1, 2.2) of the door (2), to open them together, while when the locking system (5) with the push button (6) is not activated, both parts (3, 4) of the handle (1) are independent and allow each leaf (2.1, 2.2) of the door (2) to be opened independently, or vice versa, that is, with the activation of the push button (6) both parts (3, 4) of the handle (1) separate and without activation remain joined together.
[0033] Preferably, the locking system (5) consists of a sliding vertical stem (5.1) provided inside the upper part (3) associated with a push button (6) such that, with the push button (6) in the raised rest position (figures 2-A, 2-B) said stem (5.1) is located completely inside the upper part (3), while with the push button (6) in the lowered operating position (figures 1-A and 1-B) the stem (5.1) moves downwards until it partially penetrates a recess (5.2) provided for this purpose inside the lower part (4), blocking the separation of both parts (3, 4) of the handle, so that they form a single unit to open the two leaves (2.1, 2.2) of the door (2) together.
[0034] Preferably, the push button (6) is located directly above the upper end of the sliding stem (5.1) on the top of the upper part (3) of the lever (1), allowing it to be easily operated with the thumb while holding the assembly with the hand.
[0035] Optionally, the locking system (5) with the push button (6) comprises a locking mechanism, for example, by means of a spring and ratchet system, such that when pressed once, it remains in the locked down position and when pressed again it is unlocked.
[0036] Preferably, the ends of the two inverted L and L pieces that make up the two parts, upper (3) and lower (4), of the handle (1) are fixed to the respective upper (2.1) and lower (2.2) leaves of the door (2) by means of two anchoring elements (7) that are screwed (8) on the inside side of said leaves (2.1, 2.2) of the door (2) through holes made for this purpose in them.
[0037] Having sufficiently described the nature of the present invention, as well as the manner of putting it into practice, it is not considered necessary to make its explanation more extensive so that any expert in the field may understand its scope and the advantages that derive from it, it being noted that, within its essentiality, it may be put into practice in other forms of embodiment that differ in detail from the one indicated as an example, and which will also achieve the protection sought provided that its fundamental principle is not altered, changed or modified.
