AI Technical Summary
Existing sprayable hair tonics with high adenosine concentrations require at least 20% ethanol by weight to remain stable, but this high ethanol content leads to scalp drying and color fading in hair.
A composition combining urea or a urea derivative with adenosine, where the hair tonic contains less than 18% ethanol by weight, specifically using 2-hydroxyethylurea in combination with urea to stabilize adenosine and maintain scalp health.
The solution allows for high concentrations of adenosine in a stable, sprayable form without drying out the scalp or causing hair color fading, effectively addressing the limitations of previous formulations.
Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention is an invention in the field of hair tonics. It relates to sprayable aqueous products containing adenosine and having skin and hair conditioning effects.
[0002] The present invention relates to a hair tonic with hair-conditioning effects, such as preventing hair loss and promoting hair growth. Adenosine is an active ingredient used in various cosmetic preparations, such as hair tonics, to prevent hair loss and promote hair growth. For ease of use, such products are preferably sprayed onto the scalp and hair and should be applied without weighing the hair down.
[0003] It is desirable to be able to use high concentrations of adenosine in these products to achieve a satisfactory effect for the user. High concentrations between 0.1 and 1.5 wt% adenosine can currently only be achieved in sprayable products with an ethanol content of at least 20 wt%. Adenosine cannot be stably incorporated into sprayable products with a lower ethanol content. However, products with such a high alcohol content lead to severe drying of the consumer's scalp and accelerated fading of colored hair. Therefore, it is desirable to provide a product that overcomes these disadvantages.
[0004] The aim of the present invention was therefore to provide stable sprayable aqueous agents in which adenosine is present in a high concentration and which do not dry out the scalp.
[0005] Surprisingly, it was found that this task can be solved with a composition containing urea or a urea derivative and adenosine.
[0006] A first object of the present application is therefore an aqueous sprayable hair tonic containing urea and / or a urea derivative in a total amount of 1.0 to 20 wt.% and adenosine in an amount of 0.05 to 3 wt.%, characterized in that the hair tonic contains less than 18 wt.%, preferably a maximum of 10 wt.%, in particular a maximum of 5 wt.% ethanol.
[0007] The urea derivative can be used in combination with or instead of urea, maintaining a total amount of 1.0 to 20 wt.%. If a urea derivative is used, it is preferably 2-hydroxyethylurea. In these cases, 2-hydroxyethylurea is preferably used in amounts of 1.0 to 15 wt.%, particularly preferably in amounts of 2.0 to 7.0 wt.%, and especially 2.0 to 5.0 wt.%. Preferably, 2-hydroxyethylurea is used in combination with urea. In these cases, the preferred amount of urea is 0.05 to 3.0 wt.%, particularly preferably 0.1 to 1.0 wt.%, and especially 0.1 to 0.5 wt.%, and the preferred amount of 2-hydroxyethylurea is 1.0 to 15 wt.%, particularly preferably 1.5 to 7 wt.%, and especially 2.0 to 5.0 wt.%. In such combinations, the ratio of 2-hydroxyethylurea to urea is particularly preferably between 20:1 and 10:1.
[0008] A preferred product is therefore a aforementioned hair tonic, wherein the urea derivative is 2-hydroxyethylurea.
[0009] Another preferred item is a hair tonic of the aforementioned type, wherein the total amount of urea and / or a urea derivative is 1.0 to 15 wt.%, preferably 2.0 to 7.0 wt.%, more preferably 2.0 to 5.0 wt.%.
[0010] The claimed hair tonic contains adenosine in an amount of 0.05 to 3 wt.%. Adenosine is a nucleotide and consists of the nucleobase adenine and the sugar β-D-ribose. Preferred compositions contain adenosine in an amount of 0.1 to 2 wt.%, particularly 0.1 to 1 wt.%. Furthermore, compositions containing adenosine in amounts of 0.2 to 1.5 wt.%, particularly 0.5 to 1.0 wt.%, may be preferred.
[0011] It is therefore a preferred item if the hair tonic contains adenosine in an amount of 0.1 to 2 wt.%, in particular 0.1 to 1 wt.%.

It is preferred that the claimed composition contains only a limited amount of adenosine derivatives, such as adenosine 5'-phosphate, e.g., adenosine monophosphate (INCI: Adenosine Phosphate), adenosine diphosphate, and / or adenosine triphosphate (INCI: Adenosine Triphosphate). It is preferred that the composition contains less than 0.5% by weight, particularly less than 0.2% by weight, and especially less than 0.1% by weight, of the group of adenosine phosphates. In particular, it may be preferred that the composition is free of adenosine phosphates. In this context, "free from adenosine phosphates" means that adenosine phosphates are neither added as a separate ingredient nor introduced into the claimed product via preparations of other ingredients, such as in quantities of up to 0.001 wt.-% based on the total mass of the medium.
[0013] The claimed hair tonic contains less than 18 wt%, preferably a maximum of 10 wt%, and particularly a maximum of 5 wt% ethanol. [0016] The claimed aqueous sprayable hair tonic can be easily applied to the relevant areas by the user, as it is sprayable and therefore finely and evenly distributed. To ensure good sprayability, the hair treatment composition according to the invention is preferably free of viscosity-increasing ingredients such as the polyquaternium polymers known under the INCI names Polyquaternium-10 and Polyquaternium-37, insofar as this is compatible with economical operation. Such and comparable viscosity-increasing ingredients are preferably present in the hair treatment composition according to the invention at a maximum of 2% by weight, more preferably at a maximum of 0.5% by weight, and particularly preferably at a maximum of 0.1% by weight.-% based on the total weight of the hair treatment composition.
