METHODS AND TOOLS FOR INTRA-AREA PREDICTION IN VIDEO CODING

Abstract

According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a method of decoding by a decoder is provided. The method may include determining, by the processor, whether an intra-prediction mode is enabled for the current block. The method may include, in response to a fully reconstructed intra-prediction area and the intra-prediction area being located on the same slice or tile as the current block, performing intra-prediction by the processor to identify a prediction block based on the intra-prediction area and the intra-prediction mode. The method may include decoding, by the processor, the current block based on the prediction block. The entire intra-prediction area may be used to perform intra-prediction for all intra-prediction modes.
