Summary of the Invention

Problems to be Solved by the Invention

[0004] Such a menstrual cup is required to be easily bendable and foldable so that insertion and removal into and from the vagina do not cause pain. Also, when removing the menstrual cup from the vagina, it is required to be easily removable without the menstrual blood stored in the cup body spilling. However, being easily bendable means being easily deformed. Therefore, if the entire cup body has a structure that is easily bendable, it will be deformed when removed and the menstrual blood will easily spill. If it is like those disclosed in the above Patent Document 1 and the above Patent Document 2, the inner fin portions and the constricted portion can form a structure in which menstrual blood is not easily spilled. However, in these cases, it is a problem that it is difficult to mold with a mold in terms of manufacturing.

[0005] The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and an object thereof is to provide a menstrual cup that has a simple structure, can be easily bent and folded, and can suppress menstrual blood leakage.

Means for Solving the Problems

[0006] In order to achieve the above object, a first configuration of the menstrual cup of the present invention includes a flexible bowl-shaped cup body having an upper opening receiving portion, and a rod-shaped stem portion provided protruding from the lower side of the cup body. The cup body is formed such that its thickness gradually changes in the circumferential direction in a plan view, and has a thinnest portion thinner than other portions.

[0007] The following description of embodiments discloses that the menstrual cup according to the present invention may have the following dependent configurations. <Configuration 2> In Configuration 1, the outer peripheral surface and the inner peripheral surface of the cup body in a plan view are circular or elliptical, and the center of the circle or ellipse of the inner peripheral surface may be on the thinner portion side than the center of the circle or ellipse of the outer peripheral surface. <Configuration 3> In Configuration 1, the outer peripheral surface and the inner peripheral surface of the cup body in a plan view are circular or elliptical, the center of the circle or ellipse of the inner peripheral surface is at the same position as the center of the circle or ellipse of the outer peripheral surface, and the cup body may have the thinner portions at two locations. <Configuration 4> In Configurations 1 to 3, the thickness of the cup body may be formed to gradually change between 0.4 mm and 2 mm. <Configuration 5> In Configurations 1 to 4, the receiving portion is provided with a rim portion formed thicker than the cup body, and the thickness of the rim portion may be formed to gradually change in the circumferential direction between 3 mm and 5 mm in the same manner as the thickness of the cup body. <Configuration 6> In Configurations 1 to 5, an identification portion for identifying that the thin-walled portion is formed may be provided on the outer peripheral surface of the formation site of the thin-walled portion. <Configuration 7> In Configurations 1 to 6, a groove portion that is recessed in a circumferential shape may be provided on the inner peripheral surface on the receiving portion side. <Configuration 8> In Configurations 1 to 7, the formation site of the groove portion may be formed to be thinner than other portions.

Advantages of the Invention

[0008] Since the menstrual cup of the present invention has the above-described configuration, it has a simple structure and is easy to bend and fold, while being able to suppress menstrual blood leakage.

Mode for Carrying Out the Invention

[0010] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. In some of the figures, some of the detailed reference numerals attached to other figures are omitted. Also, hereinafter, the vertical direction will be described based on the state in which the menstrual cup is worn in the vagina.

[0011] First, the menstrual cup 1 according to the first embodiment will be described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 3. As shown in FIG. 1(a) and the like, the menstrual cup 1 according to the present embodiment includes a flexible bowl-shaped cup body 2 having a receiving portion 4 with an open upper end, a rod-shaped stem portion 3 provided protruding from the lower side of the cup body 2, a rim portion 5 provided on the receiving portion 4 side and formed thicker than the cup body 2, and a vent hole 6 provided so as to penetrate to allow air to pass through. The menstrual cup 1 is made of a material that is soft enough to be folded by hand and inserted into the vagina, such as medical silicone rubber or medical TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) (see FIG. 2(a)), and can be restored to its original shape (see FIGS. 1(a) and 2(b) etc.) after being worn in the vagina and releasing the hand. Further, since the menstrual cup 1 is configured to be washable and reusable, a material that can withstand washing with detergent and boiling sterilization etc. is adopted.

[0012] The menstrual cup 1 is worn in the vagina by the user herself and is configured to collect menstrual blood in the vagina. The cup body 2 is worn in the vagina with the open receiving portion 4 facing upward and is formed in a shape capable of collecting menstrual blood. In the illustrated example, the cup body 2 has a shape in which the receiving portion 4 has the largest diameter and the diameter gradually decreases toward the stem portion 3 side. The amount of menstrual blood collected in the cup body 2 is not particularly limited, but is about 10 to 50 ml, and those of about 25 ml to 35 ml are widespread.

[0013] The stem portion 3 is made of a soft material that elastically deforms when pinched with fingers from the outside. It not only supports the insertion and removal of the menstrual cup 1 but also has a function of checking whether it is properly worn during use. The length dimension of the stem portion 3 is not particularly limited, but a size that is easy to pinch with the thumb and index finger is preferable. Therefore, about 1.5 mm to 2.2 mm is desirable. The vent hole 6 functions as an air vent for facilitating the insertion and removal of the menstrual cup 1. The formation position thereof is not particularly limited, but in the illustrated example, it is formed in the vicinity of the thin-walled portion 20 described later and on the opposite side facing this (see Fig. 3(a)).

[0014] As shown in Fig. 1(c), the cup body 2 is formed such that its thickness gradually changes in the circumferential direction in plan view. The cup body 2 has a thin-walled portion 20 with the thinnest thickness among other parts, a thick-walled portion 21 with the thickest thickness among other parts, and two intermediate portions 22, 22 that are located between the thin-walled portion 20 and the thick-walled portion 21 and face each other. Therefore, when viewing the thickness of the cup body 2 in plan view, the thickness gradually increases from the thinnest thin-walled portion 20 toward the thick-walled portion 21, and the portion on the opposite side facing the thin-walled portion 20 becomes the thick-walled portion 21. Therefore, the thickness t3 of the two intermediate portions 22 is the same (see Fig. 3(b)).

[0015] In a plan view of the cup body 2, the shapes of the outer peripheral surface 2a and the inner peripheral surface 2b are circular, and the center C2 of the circle of the inner peripheral surface 2b is on the side of the thin portion 20 with respect to the center C1 of the circle of the outer peripheral surface 2a. The thickness of the cup body 2 is not particularly limited, but for example, it may be formed to gradually change between 0.4 mm and 2 mm. Specifically, the thickness t1 of the thin portion 20 may be 0.4 mm, and the thickness t2 of the thick portion 21 may be 2 mm. By setting the thickness t1 of the thinnest thin portion 20 to 0.4 mm and the thickness t2 of the thickest thick portion 21 to 2 mm, it is possible to ensure the shape retention property that prevents menstrual blood from spilling from the cup body 2, the durability that can withstand repeated use and washing, and the resilience to return to the original shape. If the thickness t1 of the thinnest thin portion 20 becomes less than 0.4 mm, the cup body 2 will lack firmness (elasticity) and will be inferior in the resilience to return to the original shape. Also, the cup body 2 will become too thin and be easily damaged. If the thickness t2 of the thickest thick portion exceeds 2 mm, the thickness will be too thick and it will be difficult to fold.

[0016] By having the thin portion 20 in the cup body 2 as described above, it is possible to make the cup body 2 easily bendable and foldable with a simple structure. Therefore, for example, when removing the menstrual cup 1 from the vagina, it is possible to suppress the spillage of menstrual blood. Specifically, if the thin portion 20 is used as the bending site, as shown in Fig. 2(a), it becomes easier to bend the cup body 2 and it is easy to hold it in a C shape. Thus, it is easy to insert the menstrual cup 1 into the vagina and remove it from the vagina. Also, since it is easy to bend the cup body 2 at the thin portion 20 to narrow the receiving portion 4, it is possible to prevent the spillage of menstrual blood when removing it from the vagina, and when discarding the menstrual blood as shown in Fig. 2(b), it is easy to form a discharge port narrowed by the thin portion 20, so it is easy to dispose of the menstrual blood.

[0017] The rim portion 5 is provided circumferentially at the opening portion above the cup body 2 and is formed thicker than the thickness of the cup body 2. The upper end surface 5c of the rim portion 5 is a flat surface without unevenness, and the corner portion 5d has a rounded shape. The rim portion 5 has flexibility to change its shape according to the shape of the vagina and shape retention property to retain the shape of the receiving portion 4. With this rim portion 5, in a state where the shape of the receiving portion 4 is retained, the rim portion 5 can be stably adhered to the vaginal wall, and it is possible to prevent menstrual blood from leaking from between the cup body 2 and the vaginal wall.

[0018] As shown in FIG. 1(b), the thickness of the rim portion 5 is formed such that its thickness gradually changes in the circumferential direction in plan view in the same manner as the thickness of the cup body 2. It has a rim thin portion 50 that is thinner than other portions, a rim thick portion 51 that is thicker than other portions, and two rim intermediate portions 52, 52 located between the rim thin portion 50 and the rim thick portion 51. Therefore, the rim thin portion 50 of the rim portion 5 is provided on the receiving portion 4 side at the formation position of the thin portion 20 of the cup body 2, and the rim thick portion 51 of the rim portion 5 is provided on the receiving portion 4 side at the formation position of the thick portion 21 of the cup body 2. When viewing the thickness of the rim portion 5 in plan view, similar to the cup body 2, the thickness gradually increases from the thinnest rim thin portion 50 toward the rim thick portion 51, and the portion on the opposite side facing the rim thin portion 50 becomes the rim thick portion 51. Therefore, the thickness t6 of the two rim intermediate portions 52 is the same (see FIG. 3(b)).

[0019] In a plan view, the outer peripheral surface 5a and the inner peripheral surface 5b of the rim portion 5 are circular, and the center C4 of the circle of the inner peripheral surface 5b is on the side of the rim thin portion 50 with respect to the center C3 of the circle of the outer peripheral surface 5a. The thickness of the rim portion 5 is not particularly limited, but for example, it may be formed to gradually change between 3 mm and 5 mm. Specifically, the thickness t4 of the rim thin portion 50 may be 3 mm, and the thickness t5 of the rim thick portion 51 may be 5 mm. By setting the thickness t4 of the thinnest rim thin portion 50 to 3 mm and the thickness t5 of the thickest rim thick portion 51 to 5 mm, it is possible to ensure the shape retention property that prevents menstrual blood from spilling from the cup body 2, the durability that can withstand repeated use and washing, and the restorability to return to the original shape. If the thinnest rim thin portion 50 is thinner than 3 mm, the force pressing the vaginal wall when inserted into the vagina becomes weak, which becomes a factor of leakage. If the thickness of the thickest rim thick portion 51 is thicker than 5 mm, pain will occur during the insertion and removal of the cup into the vagina.

[0020] In the menstrual cup 1 shown here, the center positions in the plan view of the inner peripheral surface 2b of the cup body 2 and the inner peripheral surface 5b of the rim portion 5 are both set to the same position. Also, the center positions in the plan view of the outer peripheral surface 2a of the cup body 2 and the outer peripheral surface 5a of the rim portion 5, and the center in the plan view of the stem portion 3 are all set to the same position. Further, the formation positions of the thin portion 20, the thick portion 21, and the intermediate portion 22 of the cup body 2 and the formation positions of the rim thin portion 50, the rim thick portion 51, and the rim intermediate portion 52 of the rim portion 5 are formed at the same positions in the plan view, respectively. With the above configuration, while having a simple structure and being easy to bend and fold, the effect of suppressing menstrual blood spillage can be further exerted.

[0021] On the downwardly tapering curved portion on the outer peripheral surface 2a of the cup body 2, a plurality of ribs 23 are provided. The plurality of ribs 23 are formed as substantially parallel and rib-shaped protrusions at intervals in the circumferential direction on the outer peripheral surface 2a of the cup body 2, and their cross-sections are formed in a semi-circular arc shape (see Fig. 3(a) etc.). By providing a plurality of ribs 23 as shown in the illustrated example, it functions as an anti-slip when grasping the cup body 2 with a finger. Also, these ribs 23 can serve as a clue to the position of the cup body 2 when removing the menstrual cup 1 from the vagina. Furthermore, the presence of the ribs 23 can make it easier to return from the folded state to the original shape.

[0022] Next, with reference to Figs. 4 to 7, a modified example of the menstrual cup 1 according to the same embodiment will be described. The same components will be denoted by the same reference numerals, and the differences from the above will be described.

[0023] First, Figs. 4 and 5 show various shapes in cross-sectional views to explain a modified example of the shape of the cup body 2 of the menstrual cup 1. In the above example, an example in which the shapes of the outer peripheral surface 2a and the inner peripheral surface 2b in a plan view of the cup body 2 are both circular has been described, but it is not limited thereto, and in the following modified examples, the same effects as those described for the menstrual cup 1 above are achieved. In the figure, the symbol L indicates the major axis of the elliptical shape. Here, the shape of the cup body 2 is illustrated and described, but the shape of the rim portion 5 is also formed with a different thickness in the same manner as the cup body 2, which is the same as the menstrual cup 1 above.

[0024] The examples shown in FIGS. 4(a) to 4(c) all show examples where the inner peripheral surface 2b of the cup body 2 is circular and the outer peripheral surface 2a of the cup body 2 is elliptical. In the example shown in FIG. 4(a), the center C2 of the circle of the inner peripheral surface 2b is on the thinner part 20 side than the center C1 of the ellipse of the outer peripheral surface 2a (referring to the intersection of the major axis and the minor axis; the same applies hereinafter). This is the same as the above example, but the outer peripheral surface 2a of the cup body 2 is elliptical. By making the outer peripheral surface 2a of the cup body 2 elliptical and forming the thinner part 20 and the thicker part 21 on the major axis L, it is easy to fold into a flat shape as shown in FIG. 2(b), and it is easy to form a discharge port narrowed at the thinner part 20 (rim thinner part 50), so it is easy to dispose of menstrual blood.

[0025] In the example shown in FIG. 4(b), the center C2 of the circle of the inner peripheral surface 2b is on the thinner part 20 side than the center C1 of the ellipse of the outer peripheral surface 2a, and the point that the outer peripheral surface 2a of the cup body 2 is elliptical is the same as in FIG. 4(a). However, FIG. 4(b) is different in that the intermediate parts 22, 22 are located on the major axis L and the thinner part 20 and the thicker part 21 are located on the minor axis. Even if it is formed such that the intermediate parts 22, 22 are located on the major axis as described above, if the thinner part 20 is used as the folding part while folding into a flat shape as shown in FIG. 2(a), it is easy to hold in a C shape.

[0026] The example shown in FIG. 4(c) is an example where the center C2 of the circle of the inner peripheral surface 2b and the center C1 of the circle of the outer peripheral surface 2a are formed at the same position, the inner peripheral surface 2b of the cup body 2 is circular, and the outer peripheral surface 2a of the cup body 2 is formed elliptical. Therefore, in this case, two thinner parts 20 and two thicker parts 21 are formed, and since there is a thicker part 21 on the major axis L, if the thinner part 20 is used as the folding part, it is easier to fold more flatly. Also, since the shape retention is maintained by the two thicker parts 21, 21, it is easy to return to the original shape when released.

[0027] The example shown in Fig. 5(a) shows an example in which the inner peripheral surface 2b of the cup body 2 is elliptical and the outer peripheral surface 2a of the cup body 2 is circular. The center C2 of the ellipse of the inner peripheral surface 2b is formed to be at the same position as the center C1 of the circle of the outer peripheral surface 2a, and it has a similar shape to Fig. 4(c) in that two thin portions 20 and two thick portions 21 are formed, but it is different from Fig. 4(c) in that the thin portion 20 is on the major axis L. However, also in this case, if the thin portion 20 is used as the folding site, it becomes easier to fold into a more flattened shape. Also, since the shape retention property is maintained by the two thick portions 21, 21, it easily returns to the original shape when released.

[0028] The examples shown in Figs. 5(b) to 5(d) all show examples in which both the inner peripheral surface 2b and the outer peripheral surface 2a of the cup body 2 are elliptical. In the example shown in Fig. 5(b), the center C2 of the ellipse of the inner peripheral surface 2b is on the thin portion 20 side with respect to the center C1 of the ellipse of the outer peripheral surface 2a, and there are a thin portion 20 and a thick portion 21 on the major axis L. If formed such that the thin portion 20 and the thick portion 21 are positioned on the major axis L in this way, it is easy to fold into a flattened shape as shown in Fig. 2(b) similar to the example of Fig. 4(a), and it is easy to form a discharge port narrowed by the thin portion 20 (rim thin portion 50), so that disposal of menstrual blood is easy.

[0029] The example shown in Fig. 5(c) has a shape similar to Fig. 5(a), and is different from the example shown in Fig. 5(a) in that the outer peripheral surface 2a of the cup body 2 is elliptical, but is the same in that the center C2 of the ellipse of the inner peripheral surface 2b and the center C1 of the ellipse of the outer peripheral surface 2a are at the same position, two thin portions 20 are formed, two thick portions 21 are formed, and the thin portion 20 is on the major axis L. Therefore, also in this case, if the thin portion 20 is used as the folding site, it becomes easier to fold into a more flattened shape. Also, since the shape retention property is maintained by the two thick portions 21, 21, it easily returns to the original shape when released.

[0030] The example shown in Fig. 5(d) has a shape similar to that in Fig. 5(c), but with the thickness of the cup body 2 being thinner than that in Fig. 5(c). Even if the difference in thickness between the thin-walled portion 20 and the thick-walled portion 21 is not large, as long as the thickness of the rim portion 5 gradually changes circumferentially between 3 and 5 mm, similar to the thickness of the cup body 2, a menstrual cup 1 that exhibits the same effects as the example shown in Fig. 1(a) et al. can be configured.

[0031] As described above, a menstrual cup 1 having a combination of circular and elliptical shapes and including a thin-walled portion 20 and a thick-walled portion 21 can be configured. It has a simple structure, is easy to bend and fold, and can be configured as a menstrual cup 1 that can suppress menstrual blood leakage. Further, if the cup body 2 and the rim portion 5 are provided with two thin-walled portions 20 and a rim thin-walled portion 50, the menstrual cup 1 can be bent into an even flatter shape more easily.

[0032] Next, an example in which an identification portion 7 is provided on the outer peripheral surface 2a of the cup body 2 will be described with reference to Fig. 6. The examples shown in Figs. 6(a) to 6(c) all show examples in which an identification portion 7 for identifying that the thin-walled portion 20 is formed on the outer peripheral surface 2a where the thin-walled portion 20 is formed. The configuration of the identification portion 7 is not particularly limited. It may be a circular protrusion that can be recognized by sight and touch as shown in Fig. 6(a), or it may be a configuration that, for example, uses characters such as "FRONT" as shown in Fig. 6(b) to inform that it is easier to fold when held in the front position. Further, as an example of the identification portion 7 that can be recognized by sight and touch, it may be a rod-shaped protrusion as shown in Fig. 6(c). The key point is that since the position where the thin-walled portion 20 is formed is a portion that is easily bent (easily folded), by being able to recognize that portion by the identification portion 7, the menstrual cup 1 becomes easier to handle and the handling property is improved.

[0033] With reference to Fig. 7, an example in which a circumferentially recessed groove portion 8 is provided on the inner peripheral surface 2b on the receiving portion 4 side of the cup body 2 will be described. Figs. 7(a) and 7(b) show examples of the groove portion 8 formed with the same configuration. Fig. 7(a) is a view showing a state in which menstrual blood is stored in the cup body 2, and Fig. 7(b) is a view showing a state in which a force is applied from the circumferential direction of the cup body 2 when taking it out, and the rim portion 5 falls (tilts) inward starting from the groove portion 8. The groove portion 8 is formed to be recessed in the circumferential direction below the rim portion 5 and below the ventilation hole 6. In the examples shown in Figs. 7(a) and 7(b), since the thickness of the cup body 2 is the same as that of the groove portion 8, the recessed portion is formed to protrude toward the outer peripheral surface 2a side. By providing the groove portion 8 in this way, when taking out the menstrual cup 1 outside the vagina, the menstrual blood that is likely to leak can be made less likely to spill by the rim portion 5 that tilts inward. Also, even when it is about to overflow, since the groove portion 8 can receive the menstrual blood in the recessed portion, it can be made even less likely to spill.

[0034] The groove portion 8 is not limited to the examples in Figs. 7(a) and 7(b), and may have the configuration shown in the examples in Figs. 7(c) and 7(d), and the same effects can be obtained. Figs. 7(c) and 7(d) show examples of the groove portion 8 formed with the same configuration. Fig. 7(c) is a view showing a state in which menstrual blood is stored in the cup body 2, and Fig. 7(d) is a view showing a state in which a force is applied from the circumferential direction of the cup body 2 when taking it out, and the rim portion 5 falls (tilts) inward starting from the groove portion 8. The formation position of the groove portion 8 is the same as that in the example of Fig. 7(a), but is different in that the formed portion of the groove portion 8 is formed to be thinner than other portions. According to this configuration, the groove portion 8 can be formed without having a portion protruding from the outer peripheral surface 2a of the cup body 2 due to the presence of the groove portion 8. Although the formation position of the groove portion 8 is not limited to the illustrated example, by forming it at the boundary position (the root position of the rim portion 5) with the cup body 2 below the rim portion 5, the rim portion 5 can be made to easily fall inward in the receiving portion 4.

[0035] The configuration and shape of the menstrual cup 1 in each of the above-described embodiments are not limited to the illustrated examples. The configurations such as the cup body 2, the ribs 23, the stem portion 3, the rim portion 5, the ventilation holes 6, the identification portion 7, the groove portion 8, etc., and the number of them formed are also not limited to the illustrated examples. For example, the upper end surface 5c of the rim portion 5 may not be flat as in the illustrated example, and convex portions or concave portions may be continuously formed in the circumferential direction or at appropriate intervals. The shape of the ribs 23 is not limited to the multiple ribs shown in Fig. 2(b), Fig. 3(a), etc., and the ribs 23 as shown in Fig. 6(a) to Fig. 6(c) may also be used. The formation position of the ventilation holes 6 is not limited to the illustrated example. Also, the shape of the cup body 2 is not limited to the illustrated example, and it may be V-shaped or colored. Further, for the menstrual cup 1 described above, an example in which the cup body 2 and the rim portion 5 are formed such that their thickness gradually changes in the circumferential direction in a plan view and has the thinnest portion thinner than other portions has been described, but it is not limited thereto. Only the cup body 2 may be provided with a thin portion 20, and the thickness of the rim portion 5 may be the same in the circumferential direction. Even in this case, the portion with the thin portion 20 has an effect of being easier to fold than other portions.
