AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional heat-shrinkable polyester films face issues with reduced firmness and air permeability when thickness is minimized, leading to wrinkles and poor winding quality, while existing biaxial stretching methods are complex and costly.

Method used

A heat-shrinkable polyester film with specific thermal shrinkage rates, surface roughness, and air release properties, achieved through uniaxial stretching and laminated layers with controlled fine particle addition, maintaining transparency and printability.

Benefits of technology

The film maintains good air release, wrinkle resistance, and printability even with thin thickness, ensuring smooth winding and effective packaging without defects.

Abstract

To provide a heat shrinkable polyester film in which film surface protrusion is made within a definite range so as to have a film roll having high heat shrinkage in a width direction that is a main shrinking direction and capable of obtaining a film roll with transparency, printability and excellent appearance.SOLUTION: A heat shrinkable polyester film characterized by satisfying the following requirements (1) to (5). (1) The hot water heat shrinkage rate when the film is immersed in hot water at 90°C for 10 seconds is between 40% and 80% in the film's width direction. (2) The hot water heat shrinkage rate when the film is immersed in hot water at 90°C for 10 seconds is between -5% and 10% in the film's length direction. (3) The maximum projection height Sp on at least one film surface is between 0.8 μm and 3.0 μm. (4) The arithmetic mean height Sa on at least one film surface is between 0.03 μm and 0.2 μm. (5) The air escape time between the front and back surfaces of the film is 14 seconds or less.SELECTED DRAWING: None
