Abstract

Process for treating whey, comprising: supplying whey; heating it to 80 to 85°C for 0.9 to 1.1 h; microfiltering the whey with membranes having pores of 0.19 to 0.21 µm, obtaining an aqueous phase and a solid phase; heating the aqueous phase at a rate of 1.7 to 2.3°C / min until it reaches 80 to 85°C and maintaining it for 0.9 to 1.1 h; coagulating the proteins and solids of the aqueous phase with CaCO3, stirring at 500 to 600 rpm and maintaining it at 80 to 85°C for 36 to 44 min; dehydrating the resulting solution with 24.90 to 31.88% ethanol at 500-600 rpm and a temperature of 80 to 85°C for 27 to 33 min; flocculate the resulting solution by adding granulated activated carbon; let it stand at 10.2 to 13.8°C for 2.7 to 3.3 days; separate the precipitate by decantation; filter the recovered liquid phase with a 2.375 to 2.625 µm pore filter; and distill it at 68 to 92°C to recover the ethanol and obtain treated water.
