Abstract
Description
[0001] A RETROFIT-TABLE CULTIVATOR ASSEMBLY
[0002] TECHNICAL FIELD
[0003] The present invention generally relates to a modified form of cultivator which under the scope of this invention is referred to as Rotary-vator. More specifically, the present invention relates to a cultivator having a universal retrofit mechanism and configuration which makes it capable of being attached to any type of secondary tiller so as to perform plurality of operations simultaneously in order to avoid the subsoil damage caused due to compaction, hammering effect and Multilevel 8s Multiple tillage’s, further to curtail the costs involved in the operation 8s to ease the operators work.
[0004] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0005] A cultivator is a machine which is used to do agricultural operations such as ploughing, smoothing soil surfaces, loosening soil surfaces, aerating seedbed and removing weeds from fields. Presently existing (prior art) cultivators have either ploughing assemblies or tiller assemblies which are attached to a locomotive (tractors) for doing specific operations. Some cultivators provide two or more subassemblies which are adapted to perform specific operations but are not modifiable or interchangeable into a secondary or tertiary implement. User (farmer) need to adjust, mount and dismount the specific assemblies to perform required operations (ploughing or seeding etc.). This mounting or dismounting, adjusting operations are tedious.
[0006] Further, strength of the prior art cultivator, while doing tilling operation, is not satisfactory. Further, due to soil conditions and depth of tilling, it can encounter sudden fluctuations in the force experienced by the frame of the cultivator, which may lead to damage to the cultivator. Further the existing prior art which tend towards providing a multi-functional cultivator fail to provide a promising and strong chassis and also lacks the feature to be converted to any other implement and doesn’t provide a diversified range of degree of freedom so as to adapt the operator’s requirement depending on the soils heterogeneity.
[0007] Further, the existing prior art lacks any specific electronics that assist the user to command and control the motorised actions based on the inputs given by the user in monitoring the depth of tillage, load during the tillage, auto blade cut-off system or any specific parameter monitoring system and any type of motorised / manual integrated chassis height management system which is useful to the operator and can potentially help to avoid any physical and tangible damage to the cultivator. Further the aforementioned systems can even help to avoid the negative impact of the tillage on the soil, which in turn causes damage to the soil and sub layer soil, but the existing prior arts cultivators lacks the aforementioned provisions which otherwise could have potentially contributed towards the effectiveness and efficiency of the working

The ground breaking by the bent knives avoids the winding of weeds. The adopted circular curved-face furrowing blades can easily pierce into the land, so that the piercing-in strokes of subsoling blades are shortened, and therefore the operation resistance is reduced. The middle part of the front beam of the rack is disconnected, and chute tile arc-shaped steel plates are welded to form the connecting trough, so that the stiffness and the strength of the whole machine are improved, and the interference from a power output universal coupling of the rotary-tilling machine and the front beam of the subsoiling machine is avoided due to the lifting of toolings.
[0013] In another prior art a Chinese application CN201766819 discloses a deep-tillage soil-preparation combined machine relates to the field of agricultural machinery and comprises a suspension bracket, scraper knives and an intermediate bridge plate. Power is transmitted to the rotary cultivator through a power output shaft of a tractor via two universal joint transmission shafts and then transmitted to a working arbor via a gearbox. The arbor is welded with a plurality of tool changers provided with knives, the knives are used for crushing soil, and each scraper knife is adjusted according to different soil properties, adopts a strengthened and heightened cross cutting chisel scraper knife body and is added with auxiliary knives. The scraper knife bodies are adjusted according to different properties, and the rotary cultivator is used for realizing soil preparation at the rear ends of the scraper knives. In addition, the deep-tillage soil-preparation combined machine is wide in application range, flexible in operation and convenient in use, has higher practical values, realizes deep-tillage of soil and surface flattening, saves water, reduces water evaporation and completes deep-tillage and flattening operation.

It is also a multipurposed and long lasting environment-friendly machine that helps with the increase of the humus content of the soil by incorporating the plant residues and organic fertilizer into the soil and it does not make it a necessity to fight with the chemical weeds. The fact that the motion coming from the power-take-off shaft is transferred to the blades through the gear system makes savings on power and fuel in proportion to the chain system. The milling cutter blades shreds, mixes and crumbles the soil by operating vertically on the surface of the soil. It provides the water-air balance of the soil by making it loose.
[0015] Therefore, there is a need for a cultivator which overcomes the problems of the prior art cultivators.

[0043] Referring now to Figure 1, which shows the detailed overall assembly view of the Rotary- vator, ( 1 ) representing the main assembly of the complete unit highlights all the parts such as (2), (3), (4), (5), (6) which are the key inventive embodiments to a conventional rotavator so as to enhance its working efficacy, reduce its damaging effects on the soil, improve the depth of pulverisation, maintain the soil porosity so as to have adequate irrigation by the virtue of efficient water percolation, further these embodiments improve avoid the soil compacting effect of a conventional rotavator and in turn curtail the chances of creation of hard soil pan in the sub soil layer, due to this the crops planted in soil prepared 8s levelled by (1) will have a better root growth, root penetration resulting into an overall good yield. The embodiment (2) is the key part which is developed by producing an extension in the form of “L” shape (11A) which provides support from both ends to hold the main load bearing structure i.e., the embodiment (3), in turn this embodiment (3) has the primary tillage component i.e., (4) which is connected to (3) via the embodiments (5) 8s (6), these (5) 8s (6) play a vital role in firmly holding the (4) in place during the period of operation. Further the same figure shows how the embodiment (3) also holds the embodiment (7) which is responsible for connecting the tractors pulling arms with the Rotaryvator (1). The Rotaryvator (1) has a primary tiller (4) and a secondary tiller assembly (26). The secondary tiller assembly (26) may be any external assembly. The primary tiller (4) has a ploughing blade (20). The secondary tiller assembly (26) is connected to the primary tiller (4). The Rotaryvator (1) is a universal retrofit which provides an unhampering and non-compacting soil tillage operation in a single pass. The Rotaryvator (1) can be used by itself as a normal cultivator alone or can be even modified into a seed drill or blades harrow or ridge maker if required. Such feature is embodied by the use of a simple and compact chassis which is convertible to any different implements by not restricting to the aforementioned implements.
[0044] Figure 2 brings out the other two embodiments which are similar to what is present in a conventional rotavator i.e., the (9) and (8), (9) here establishes a connection with the Top link assembly of a tractor, so this part (9) along with the part (7) together establish a firm connection called as a junction marriage between the tractor and Rotaryvator (1). The part (8) has its own function to act as a spring damper so as to pressurize the soil which is pulverised by the rotary blades and to maintain the soil bed level as the Rotaryvator passes over the soil. These embodiments are shown mainly to bring out their connection with the embodiments (14) 8s (15).
[0045] As shown in figure 3, the sub embodiment (11) of embodiment (2) which is an inventive design approach taken by extending the plate design in the form of a “L” shape as clearly shown in (HA) of Fig. 3a. This extension allows the sub embodiments (13) and (12) of embodiment (3) to be welded at the ends of (13) and (12), by this weldment the embodiments (13) and (14) secure a solid fixture with the embodiment (11). Here the (13) as sub embodiment of (3) plays a crucial role as it is responsible to hold the embodiment (5) on it. Similar to this (12) a sub embodiment of (3) holds the (7) on it as depicted in Fig. 1. Further when closely observed in the Figure. 3, Due to the “L” Shape of (11) the placement of (13) is vertically below and horizontally forward to the placement of (12) this vertical depth and horizontal shift allows (13) to be in front of (12) which is clearly evident from Fig. 3A. This overall placement design plays a vital role in order to correctly position the embodiment (4) in front of the (26) as shown in Fig.8. The outcome effect of this design approach is that the Primary Tillage will happen first with the help of (4) i.e., when the (1) moves forward along with the tractor, (4) will come first in contact with the ground / soil bed and it breaks the soil into clods before they get broken into finer particles, further these clods then enter into secondary tillage stage where in the section (26) they get pulverised by the rotary action of (26). Due to this effect the direct load coming on the (26) due to soil bed is drastically reduced, secondly the primary mover (4) breaking the clods makes it easy for pulverisation, further it removes heavy weeds / bushes i.e., it doesn’t move superficially but up roots the bushes / weeds making the intercultivation operation more easier 8s efficient, further due to the primary movement of (4) these bushes get broken and then subjected to (26) resulting into further breaking and smashing of these bushes, hence chances of it getting entangled on the rotary shaft is reduced which reduces the burden of user to remove these entangles weeds from the shaft after the operation. The other aspect that Fig. 3 highlights is the unique design made for establishing a good fixture between (10) with the (12) 8s (13). This connection between (10), (12) and (13) is established by providing the embodiments (14) and (15) these fixtures with (10) from the end portion being linearly welded to (10) as the end is approached it too then is made in “L” shape there by establishing a weldment with (12) and (13). As there are totally four such plates together highlighted as (14) and (15) which firmly establish a secure bond with (10), (12) and (13) helps in an even and well distributed load management. So, whenever the portion (13) holding (4), as (4) is dragged against the soil it puts a twisting load on (13). So by the aforementioned weldment established between (13), (12) and (10) with the help of (14) and (15) this load gets evenly distributed throughout the part (10) there by avoiding any chances of failure or breakage. Thus this design approach as depicted in the Fig. 3 helps to accomplish the aforementioned value / benefits from the Rotaryvator (1), which otherwise a conventional rotavator lacks.
[0046] The Figure 4 highlights in particular the sub embodiments (16) and (17) of embodiment (5), The embodiments (16) are fixtured to the embodiment (13) by weldment, there are in total seven such embodiments on the face of (13) these embodiments are again uniquely designed such that they have two holes on each thorough which (17) can pass. These embodiments (16) have been designed such that one of their faces is magnetized (to either N / S pole), and the tips of (17) are also magnetized to the opposite pole to that of (16). Such that when (17) is inserted through the holes it automatically fixes itself in the holes as the magnetized tip of the (17) gets attracted to magnetized face of (16) thus by this magnetic bond the embodiment (17) by its own virtue or by any indirect force or load cannot come out of the hole of (16). This unique approach will thus avoid the problem of removing the pins and putting them back each time as the process of removal and insertion is made simple, whereas in the earlier case of conventional Pins would come with a locking system using a linch pin which would make it difficult for the user to insert and remove the pin in any part of the machine. So in case of the current design approach the (17) when inserted through holes of (16) will automatically get pulled inwards and when removing a force exact opposite to the direction on insertion needs to be applied and upon application of sufficient force only the pin will come out without any complication or secondary effort.
[0047] In continuation to the Figure 4, the Figure 5 shows the pattern in which the embodiments (16) are designed and welded to the face of (13), the unique fashion depicted through this image shows that the two rows i.e., (18) and (19) are placed equidistant from each other but the set (18) are four in number and set (19) are three in number, further the length of (19) is slightly greater than that of (18), making it slightly ahead of (18) this peculiar difference in length causes a zig- zag pattern in the placement of tynes. Figure 6 8s Figure 7, depict the Sub embodiments (20) of embodiment (4) i.e., the cultivator tynes. These embodiments (20) have been designed in such a way that they can slide vertically up and down in the (16) when inserted from the bottom of (16). The vertical movement of these Tynes (20) is arrested by the insertion of (17) into (16) through the holes (21) provided on the faces of the (20). Through these holes the insertion pin (22) passes and arrests the vertical motion of the Tynes in the Socket. So that individually each embodiment (20) can be adjusted in its height from the ground level as per the requirement of the user. Further each hole (21) on the face of the tyne demarks a particular depth which means adjusting it to a particular hole makes the Rotaryvator go that deep into the soil. So as per the desired depth and requirement of the user on the filed based on its soil condition the height of individual embodiments (20) can be adjusted. Further due to the difference in the lengths of (16) as highlighted by (18) and (19) this difference also causes the cultivator tynes (20) to be in Zig-Zag fashion as depicted in Fig. 7. The Row (24) with three tynes is ahead to that of Row (23) with four tynes. This Zig-Zag pattern of Tynes has a particular reason being soil mechanics, i.e., three tynes being in front make it must for these three tynes to come first in contact with the soil bed behind which the four tynes are positioned exactly in the gaps of the front three tynes, thus the soil will be first broken by the three tynes (24) in a V fashion i.e., clods will move to left and right these clods will further be broken by the rear tyne set (23), So if the front row (24) breaks the soil in V fashion it creates six soil clods in total then when these six clods are subjected to the rear Tyne Row (23) these are further broken into twelve minor clods in short the flow of soil will be in a uniform manner with smooth soil mechanics and there won’t be any sudden load coming on any single tyne rather it will be distributed evenly across the tynes.
[0048] Figure 8 highlights the key height parameter between the Tyne Set (25) and the rotary shaft (26) as observed in the figure it is clearly evident that the Tyne set (25) is below the base line of the rotary shaft (26). This feature is clearly helpful in obtaining a greater depth of tillage as these tynes will go much deeper thus loosening up the soil to greater depth this effect will in turn cause the rotary shaft (26) to go deeper in to soil helping it for better pulverising of soil. Further as the Tynes are adjustable in their height this depth of tillage can be easily altered based on the requirement of the user. There is also a second part which this Fig. 8 shows i.e., the Sensor based cap (27) the cap is designed in such a way that it has a Sensory function that can detect any motion within it this motion detection is used in order to tap the speed of rotation of the rotary shaft 8s also to monitor the timing of operation. This output parameter of the sensor is used in order to track the machine operation time which is displayed to the user on a LCD display at his stirring end. This feature mainly helps the user to perform maintenance of the machine based on the usage time tracking. Secondly as the same sensory function provides the speed of rotation, this output parameter helps the operator to understand and manage the pulverisation efficiently based on the speed of the rotation. He then gets the idea of adjusting his throttle to a speed which gives him the desired pulverisation output. Further the same sensory element has the capability to detect the load coming on the overall machine thereby alarming the operator to do necessary adjustments manually so that the load can be brought back to normal range.
[0049] In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the Rotaryvator (1) has a height adjusting mechanism (5) which connects the primary tiller (4) and the secondary tiller assembly (26) and enables positional height adjustment of each with respect to each other. The height adjusting mechanism (5) also enables height adjustment of the ploughing blade (20) with respect to the surface. The Rotaryvator (1) (specifically, the ploughing blade (20) can be lifted and lowered to adjust its ground clearance by operations of the height adjusting mechanism (5). The height adjusting mechanism (5) may have “U” Tyne holder channels (16) any relative support system for positional adjustment in conjunction with a manually driven Pin Adjustment System. The Rotaryvator (1) to be lifted and lowered relative to the secondary tiller (26) which gives an added advantage of adjusting the tillage depth of the Rotaryvator (1) which plays an important role in avoiding the soil compaction phenomenon due to hammering and multi tillage effect, further this aforementioned feature helps to instantly lift the ploughing blade assembly (18) from the ground in an event of any excessive load which is being detected by the Sensor based cap (27).
[0050] In one more embodiment of the invention, the height adjusting mechanism (5) has a Magnetized Pin Adjustment system, which in turn helps to lift or lower the Rotaryvator primary tiller (25) relative to the secondary tiller (26).
[0051] In one more embodiment of the invention, the Rotaryvator (1) may have an electronic control unit in conjunction with Sensor based cap (27) which is connected (communicates) to the height adjusting mechanism (5) which controls operation of the height adjusting mechanism (5) by indicating the height and load coming on the system, which in turn triggers the operator to do the adjustments manually. The electronic control unit in conjunction with Sensor based cap (27) commands the operator via any output display like hardware user Interface (UI) - LCD display provided to him at the operators ends. The electronic control unit in conjunction with Sensor based cap (27) has a hardware user Interface (UI) through which the(an) operator can interact and give specific commands for controlling the operations of the height adjusting mechanism (5). Thus, providing the ease of lifting or lowering the Rotaryvator ( 1 ) from a place of user’s comfort.
[0052] In one more embodiment of the present invention, the Rotaryvator (1) has a depth sensor element encapsulated internally with Sensor Based Cap (27) which is configured 8s connected between the secondary tiller assembly (26) and Tyne holder assembly (5) of the Rotaryvator (1). The depth sensor element encapsulated internally with Sensor Based Cap (27) has an integrated electronic system (not shown) that gives variable electrical output signal based on the movement of an internal rotary element. More specifically, when the Rotaryvator (1) is in operating on the soil (surface). Based on the output electrical signal, The electronic control unit in conjunction with Sensor based cap (27) calculates the depth of tillage and indicates the same on the user interface which gives the details to the operator about the depth of operation of both the primary and secondary tiller to adjust the Cultivator Tyne Assembly (4) height accordingly to get the desired depth (height) of tillage.
[0053] In one more embodiment of the present invention, the Rotaryvator (1) includes at least one sensor connected to the electronic control unit in conjunction with Sensor based cap (27). The sensor is adapted to measure at least one sensible parameter in a predefined region of the Rotaryvator (1) and sends measured parameter to the electronic control unit in conjunction with Sensor based cap (27). The predefined region can be a junction at which the Rotaryvator (1) is connected to a locomotive(tractor). The sensible parameter can be mechanical load transferring from the Rotaryvator (1) to the tractor. The load transferring on the tractor plays an important role as it indicates the wear and tear of implements, the chances of any possible damage to the implement or tractor. The measured details can be shown in (on) the user interface UI.
[0054] The details help the operator to quickly (accordingly) adjust the working depth parameters of the Rotaryvator (1) so as to bring down the load on the tractor or implement to safety. Further The electronic control unit in conjunction with Sensor based cap (27) can be featured to adjust the depth of the Cultivator Tyne Assembly (4) of the Rotaryvator (1) depending on the input signal coming from the Sensor based cap. The operations of the sensor can be controlled by through the user interface by the operator.
[0055] In one more embodiment of the invention, the primary tiller (4) includes a blade removal mechanism (5) connected between the ploughing blade (20) and a frame (13) of the Rotaryvator (1). [0057] SOME OF THE KEY REASONS BEHIND MODIFYING THE CONVENTIONAL RTOAVATOR TO THIS TYPE OF ROTARY-VATOR.
[0058] 1) The conventional rotavator has a lower depth of pulverisation i.e., when operated over a soil bed the depth of pulverisation obtained is just 4 to 5 inches where as in case of our Rotaryvator the same depth obtained is 12 to 14 inches.
[0059] 2) In the conventional land preparation methods use of rotavator has been done tremendously, this use has resulted in creation of a hard soil pan in the sub soil layer due to the hammering effects of the blades, self-weight of the rotavator and heavy tractor usage. This hard soil pan results into inefficient water percolation there by increasing the dependency on excess irrigation, where as in case of Rotaryvator the front set of cultivator tynes provided with individual height adjustment system causes the complete machine to go to deeper depth of soil hence up bringing the lower soil layers on top this effect loosens the soil to a greater extent there by avoiding the creation of hard soil pan, further the rear rotary unit doesn’t create any hammering effect in this case as the soil has already be loosened by the front tynes thus it has a freedom of movement and doesn’t impart direct load over the soil as the tyne will have first touched the soil to its bottom most layer. This results into free pulverisation movement thus avoiding creation of hard soil pan thus resulting into efficient water percolation and reduced dependency on excess irrigation.
[0060] 3) In case of conventional rotavator there were many chances of bushes / weeds getting entangled over the rotary shaft as when the blades rotate as well as traverse over the soil they don’t get enough cutting depth and proper smashing effect resulting into these bushes getting superficially cut and entangles all over the rotary shaft. This becomes a challenge to the user to remove all these bushes and weeds from the shaft. Where as in case of our Rotaryvator by the movement of primary tillage blades into deeper depths results into uprooting of these bushes from the soil layers and further it breaks these bushes into pieces then later when they are subjected to the rotary blades which in this case have a free movement cause perfect smashing of these weeds and bushes there by avoiding the problem of entanglement.
[0061] 4) In case of conventional land preparation operation the use of rotavator is done as a secondary tillage implement and primarily a full fledge cultivator is used resulting into two operations to happen one after the other resulting in to increased operational time 8s increased fuel consumption. But in the case of Rotaryvator since both the main stream tillage operation are efficiently clubbed, the need of a second pass for land preparation is not necessarily needed thereby preparing the land in a single pass reducing the operation time and fuel expenses, thereby reducing the carbon foot print.
[0062] 5) The conventional rotavators lack the time indication and speed indication function which causes the user to be very unaware of the maintenance of the machine and making it difficult for the user to sustain a uniform speed for the rotavator. But in case of our Rotaryvator the sensory function efficiently addresses these problems and provides the real time operating speed of the rotary shaft also indicates the overall operating time so as to keep a tract on real time operation of the machine and as a preset timing for maintenance is reached it indicates the user over the display.
[0063] 6) In case of use of conventional rotavator the soil health depletes due to the aforementioned effects such as Formation Soil hard pan, Reduced efficiency of water penetration resulting into improper irrigation, lower depth of pulverisation. All these negative effects cause the loss of nutritive value of the soil thereby due to the use of these rotavators the soil fertility has been lost which in turn has lowered the crops immune power that have been cultivated on that soil this in turn has increased the dependency on external fertilizer to boost the growth and also since immunity is lost the crops are more susceptible to diseases, this has caused the increase use of pesticides. The proposed Rotaryvator tries to bring back the natural soil properties, health and nutritive values which it can cultivate to the crops thereby improving the yield in an organic and natural approach in line with the environmental SDG Goals.
[0064] ADVANTAGES
