Abstract
Description
Electric discharge air purifier
[0001] The present disclosure relates to an air purifier that collects pollutants contained in the air using a liquid.
[0002] Various types of air purifiers are used to purify indoor air by collecting pollutants such as fine dust generated indoors or brought in from outside, and then releasing the purified air into the room. These air purifiers can be broadly categorized into dry air purifiers and wet air purifiers.
[0003] Dry air purifiers purify the air using filters to filter out pollutants or dust collectors to electrically collect them. Dry air purifiers require periodic replacement or cleaning of the filters or dust collectors. Replacing filters or dust collectors incurs additional costs, and cleaning them is a hassle for the user.
[0004] Wet air purifiers purify the air by precipitating or dissolving contaminants by exposing the air to a wet purifying agent, such as water. In wet air purifiers, the small contact area between the contaminant-laden air and the wet purifying agent reduces the air purifying ability of the wet air purifier. Furthermore, because the wet purifying agent remains static, the container containing the wet purifying agent can easily become contaminated.
[0005] Embodiments of the present disclosure provide an air purifier that addresses the problems of the prior art described above. One embodiment of the present disclosure provides an air purifier that exhibits high air purification performance with low power consumption in a wet environment. One embodiment of the present disclosure provides an air purifier that can be used in a wet environment, does not cause inconveniences such as filter replacement, and achieves automated operation.
[0006] The disclosed embodiments relate to an air purifier that removes pollutants from air by electric discharge. According to one embodiment, the air purifier includes a dust collection tank, a housing, an air supply unit, an exhaust unit, a plurality of discharge electrodes, a charging unit, and a rotary blade. The dust collection tank is configured to accommodate a liquid. The housing accommodates the dust collection tank. The air supply unit is configured to supply air from the outside into the dust collection tank to collect pollutants contained in the air. The exhaust unit has an exhaust pipe arranged to face the surface of the liquid and is configured to discharge air supplied to the dust collection tank to the outside. A plurality of discharge electrodes are arranged along the periphery of the exhaust pipe. The charging unit is arranged within the dust collection tank and charges the liquid with a polarity opposite to that of the plurality of discharge electrodes so that an electric field is formed between the plurality of discharge electrodes and the liquid, thereby collecting pollutants into the liquid. The rotary blade is installed at the bottom of the dust collection tank and rotates the liquid so that a vortex is formed in the liquid. The air purifier is configured such that a distance between the surface of the liquid and the plurality of discharge electrodes is within a predetermined distance range.
[0007] In one embodiment, the plurality of discharge electrodes are configured to be charged with (+) polarity, and the charging portion is configured to charge the liquid with (-) polarity.
[0008] In one embodiment, a plurality of discharge electrodes each protrude radially outward from the exhaust pipe about the central axis of the exhaust pipe.
[0009] In one embodiment, the air purifier includes a grounding member installed in the housing and configured to ground a dust collection tank. The dust collection tank may include a non-conductive material on the inner or outer surface of the dust collection tank.
[0010] In one embodiment, the air purifier includes a rotary motor installed in the housing and configured to rotate the rotary blades. The rotary motor is configured to change the rotational speed of the rotary motor so that the separation distance is within a predetermined distance range.
[0011] In one embodiment, the air purifier includes a control unit configured to control a rotary motor. The rotary motor is configured to detect a rotational speed of the rotary motor and transmit the detected rotational speed to the control unit. The control unit is configured to compare a reference rotational speed of the rotary motor that causes a separation distance to be within a predetermined distance range with a detected rotational speed input from the rotary motor, and to increase the rotational speed of the rotary motor to increase the liquid level so that the separation distance is within the predetermined distance range.
[0012] In one embodiment, the air purifier includes a level detection sensor configured to detect a level of a liquid, and a control unit configured to adjust a separation distance so that the separation distance is within a predetermined distance range based on a detection signal from the level detection sensor.
[0013] In one embodiment, the control unit is configured to change the rotational speed of the rotary motor so that the separation distance is within a predetermined distance range.
[0014] In one embodiment, the air purifier includes a replenishment tank containing replenishment liquid for replenishing liquid in a dust collection tank, and a pump for supplying the replenishment liquid from the replenishment tank to the dust collection tank. The control unit is configured to control the pump so that the separation distance is within a predetermined distance range.
[0015] In one embodiment, the air purifier comprises a replenishment tank containing a replenishment liquid having a concentration different from that of the liquid; a connection portion connecting the dust collection tank and the replenishment tank; a semi-permeable membrane installed within the connection portion; and a valve installed within the connection portion and configured to open and close the connection portion. The control portion is configured to control the valve so that the separation distance is within a predetermined distance range.
[0016] In one embodiment, the control unit is configured to change the positions of the plurality of discharge electrodes. The plurality of discharge electrodes are configured to be movable up and down so that the separation distance is within a predetermined distance range.
[0017] In an electric discharge air purifier according to one embodiment, an electric field is formed between an electrically charged liquid in a dust collection tank and a protruding discharge electrode disposed along the periphery of an exhaust pipe and charged with a polarity different from that of the liquid, and the charged liquid collects pollutants ionized with a polarity different from that of the liquid. Therefore, the electric discharge air purifier according to one embodiment can exhibit high air purification performance with low power consumption in a wet environment, and can eliminate inconvenience to the user, such as replacement of a filter or dust collector.
[0018] In an electric discharge air purifier according to one embodiment, a rotating blade installed at the bottom of a dust collection tank forms a vortex in the charged liquid, thereby increasing the contact area between the surface of the charged liquid and air. Therefore, the electric discharge air purifier according to one embodiment can prevent a decrease in dust collection performance due to accumulation of pollutants, can reform the surface of the charged liquid, and can prevent a short circuit caused by pollutants between the discharge electrode and the liquid.
[0019] An electric discharge air purifier according to one embodiment can maintain a distance between a surface of an electrified liquid and a discharge electrode within a distance range suitable for retaining ionized pollutants, and can change the rotational speed of a rotation motor or change the position of the discharge electrode with respect to the liquid to maintain the distance.

However, even if a description of a component is omitted, it is not intended that such component is not included in any embodiment.
[0041] The embodiments described below and illustrated in the attached drawings relate to an electric discharge air purifier that purifies air by ionizing pollutants contained in the air through electric discharge and collecting the ionized pollutants using an electrically charged liquid. The electric discharge air purifier according to the present disclosure (hereinafter simply referred to as an air purifier) can be used to remove pollutants contained in indoor air, but the use location of the air purifier according to the present disclosure is not limited to indoors.
[0042] FIG. 1 is a perspective view illustrating an air purifier according to one embodiment of the present disclosure, and FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken along line 2-2 of FIG. 1. In the following description, FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 are referred to together.
[0043] An air purifier (10) according to one embodiment includes a dust collection tank (100) configured to receive a liquid (110) and a housing (200) that receives the dust collection tank (100).
[0044] The liquid (110) collects pollutants contained in the air (e.g., indoor air). Pollutants contained in the air may include, for example, fine dust (PM10, PM2.5, etc.), formaldehyde, radon, hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, heavy metals, carbon monoxide, etc. The liquid contained in the dust collection tank (100) may include a liquid with a low vapor pressure, such as water, oil, ether, etc., to collect pollutants contained in the air. Additives may be added to the liquid to improve the dust collection ability of pollutants or to reduce evaporation of the liquid.
[0045] The dust collection tank (100) may be made of a transparent material and may have a shape like an inverted cone with a diameter that increases upward. The dust collection tank (100) may be installed in the housing (200) so as to be removably fixed to the housing (200). For example, the dust collection tank (100) may have a circular bottom wall (121) and a cylindrical side wall (122). The dust collection tank (100) is accommodated in the housing (200) and supported by the housing (200).
[0046] The housing (200) functions as a support that accommodates components of the air purifier (10) and holds and supports a dust collection tank (100). For example, the housing (200) includes an outer housing (210) that forms the exterior of the air purifier (10) and an inner housing (220) that is positioned inside the outer housing (210) and is fixed to the outer housing (210). The outer housing (210) has an opening (211) that passes through its upper end and a plurality of intake holes (212) that pass through its side walls. The outer housing (210) can be placed on the floor of an indoor space or on the surface of a suitable structure. The inner housing (220) defines an exposure opening (221) that passes through in the front-rear direction of the air purifier. The dust collection tank (100) is positioned in the exposure opening (221) and can be fixed to the bottom wall (222) of the inner housing (220).
[0047] An air purifier (10) includes an air supply unit (300) and an exhaust unit (400). The air supply unit (300) and the exhaust unit (400) are installed in a housing. The air supply unit (300) is configured to supply air from the outside of the air purifier (10) to a dust collection tank (100) in order to collect and purify pollutants contained in the air using a liquid (110). The exhaust unit (400) is configured to discharge air supplied to the dust collection tank (100) and having pollutants collected therefrom using the liquid (110) to the outside of the air purifier (10).
[0048] The air supply unit (300) is located inside the outer housing near the upper portion of the outer housing. The air supply unit (300) can be fixed inside the outer housing (210) between the outer housing (210) and the inner housing (220). For example, the air supply unit (300) can have an intake unit (310) for intake air containing pollutants from the outside of the housing (200) and an intake pipe (320) extending from the intake unit (310). The intake unit (310) can have an intake fan (311) arranged toward the intake hole (212) and a fan motor (312) for rotating the intake fan (311). As the intake fan (311) is rotated by the fan motor (312), air outside the air purifier can be supplied to the intake pipe (320) through the intake unit (310). The operation of the fan motor (312) can be controlled by the control unit of the air purifier. For example, by increasing or decreasing the rotational speed of the intake fan (311) rotated by the fan motor (312), the amount of air supplied to the dust collection tank (100) can be adjusted, and the speed of collecting pollutants can be adjusted. The supply pipe (320) guides the air blown by the intake device (310) toward the dust collection tank (100). The supply pipe (320) is arranged to face the interior of the inner housing (220). For example, the supply pipe (320) can extend from the intake device (310) toward the dust collection tank (100). As another example, the air supply pipe (320) can extend straight or diagonally from the intake (310) toward the exhaust (400), and air blown from the air supply pipe (320) can be guided along the exhaust (400) to the dust collection tank (100).
[0049] The exhaust unit (400) discharges air from which pollutants have been removed by being collected in a liquid (110) to the outside of the air purifier. The exhaust unit (400) is located above the dust collection tank (100) and can be coupled to the upper portion of the outer housing (210). The exhaust unit (400) is configured to discharge air from the dust collection tank (100) from which pollutants have been removed upward from the dust collection tank (100). For example, the exhaust unit (400) may be configured as a modular component and may be removably coupled to the upper portion of the outer housing (210). Therefore, when the exhaust unit (400) is removed from the housing (200), the dust collection tank (100) located in the inner housing (220) and the liquid (110) within the dust collection tank (100) may be exposed. In such a state, replenishment of liquid (110) may be performed through the opening (211) of the outer housing (210).
[0050] The exhaust unit (400) has a cover unit (410) coupled to an opening (211) of an outer housing (210), and an exhaust pipe (420) extending downward from the cover unit (410). The cover unit (410) has a plurality of exhaust holes (411) on its upper portion through which air from which pollutants have been removed is discharged. The exhaust pipe (420) extends downward from the lower portion of the cover unit (410), and the cover unit (410) has an internal space communicating with the exhaust pipe (420). The exhaust pipe (420) is formed in the exhaust unit (400) so as to be arranged coaxially with the central axis (CA) of the dust collection tank (100). The exhaust pipe (420) is arranged in the exhaust unit (400) so as to face the water surface (111) of the liquid (110) in a downward direction. Accordingly, the exhaust section (400) is coupled to the housing (200) so that the exhaust pipe (420) is spaced upward from the water surface (111) of the liquid (110). The lower end of the exhaust pipe (420) faces the water surface of the liquid (110).
[0051] An air purifier (10) according to one embodiment ionizes or charges pollutants in air supplied through an air supply unit (300) to (+) or (-) polarity by electric discharge, and charges a liquid (110) that collects pollutants to a polarity opposite to the polarity of the pollutants. Accordingly, pollutants in the air supplied to a dust collection tank (100) are collected as liquid (110) in the dust collection tank (100). In order to collect the aforementioned pollutants, the air purifier (10) includes a discharge electrode (510) that performs an electric discharge on air introduced into the dust collection tank (100) and a charging unit (520) that charges the liquid (110).
[0052] FIG. 3 is a perspective view illustrating a plurality of discharge electrodes arranged in an exhaust pipe of an exhaust section according to one embodiment. In the following description, reference is made to FIG. 2 and FIG. 3 together.
[0053] A plurality of discharge electrodes (510) are arranged along the periphery of the exhaust pipe (420). For example, four to six discharge electrodes (510) may be arranged along the periphery of the exhaust pipe (420), but the number of discharge electrodes is not limited thereto. The plurality of discharge electrodes (510) are arranged at equal intervals or predetermined intervals along the periphery of the exhaust pipe (420) with the exhaust pipe (420) as the center. For example, each discharge electrode (510) may be made of carbon fiber. Carbon fiber discharge electrodes can be used at low voltage and low power consumption and can have low heat generation. In embodiments of the air purifier, the plurality of discharge electrodes (510) may be arranged along the periphery of the exhaust pipe (420) by being coupled to the exhaust pipe (420), the exhaust unit (400), or the dust collection tank (100).
[0054] In the embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 3, a plurality of discharge electrodes (510) are coupled to the exhaust pipe (420) so as to protrude from the outer peripheral surface of the exhaust pipe (420) in the outer radial direction (RO) of the central axis (CA) of the exhaust pipe. The plurality of discharge electrodes (510) are arranged at equal intervals or at predetermined intervals along the periphery of the exhaust pipe (420) near the lower end of the exhaust pipe (420). Since the plurality of discharge electrodes (510) protrude in all directions with the exhaust pipe (420) as the center, the discharge efficiency does not decrease in a high-humidity environment.
[0055] Referring to FIG. 2, the charging unit (520) is arranged to be immersed in the liquid (110) within the dust collection tank (100) and charges the liquid (110). The charging unit (520) is configured to charge the liquid (110) with a polarity opposite to the polarity with which the plurality of discharge electrodes (510) are charged. As the charging unit (520) charges the liquid (110), an electric field is formed between the plurality of discharge electrodes (510) and the liquid (110), so that pollutants are collected in the liquid (110). The charging unit (520) may include charging electrodes immersed in the liquid (110), and a wire connected to the charging electrodes may be attached to the inner surface of the dust collection tank (100) and may extend into the housing (200).
[0056] In one embodiment, the plurality of discharge electrodes (510) are configured to be charged with a positive (+) polarity, and the charging unit (520) is configured to charge the liquid (110) with a negative (-) polarity. Due to the plurality of discharge electrodes (510) charged with a positive (+) polarity, pollutants around the discharge electrodes are electrically destroyed and ionized into positive ions. For example, a positive corona discharge may occur at the plurality of discharge electrodes (510). The pollutants ionized into positive ions may be attracted to the liquid (110) charged with a negative (-) polarity by, for example, a force due to an electric field, electrostatic attraction, etc., and may be collected into the liquid (110). Since the discharge electrodes (510) are charged with a positive (+) polarity, the amount of ozone formed by oxygen radicals generated at the discharge electrodes combining with oxygen in the air is small. As another example, the plurality of discharge electrodes (510) may be charged with (-) polarity, the charging unit (520) may charge the liquid (110) with (+) polarity, and the contaminant may be ionized into anions by the discharge electrodes (510).
[0057] In some embodiments, the liquid (110) in the dust collection tank (100) may be accommodated in the dust collection tank (100) so as not to have fluidity. As the air purifier (10) operates, pollutants may accumulate on the surface of the liquid (110), reducing dust collection efficiency, and the collected pollutants may electrically connect the discharge electrode (510) and the liquid (110). In one embodiment, the air purifier (10) rotates the liquid (110) in the dust collection tank to form a vortex in the liquid (110). Accordingly, the surface (111) of the liquid (110) may be reformed, reducing dust collection efficiency may be prevented, and electrical short circuits caused by pollutants may be prevented.
[0058] An air purifier (10) of one embodiment includes a rotary blade (610) installed on a bottom wall (121) of a dust collection tank (100) and rotating a liquid (110). The rotary blade (610) is rotatably coupled to the bottom wall (121) of the dust collection tank (100) so as to rotate around a central axis (CA) of the dust collection tank (100). For example, the rotary blade (610) has a base portion (611) formed in a disc shape and a plurality of wing portions (612) protruding upward from the base portion (611). Each wing portion (612) may be formed to extend from the vicinity of the center of rotation of the base portion (611) to the edge of the base portion (611).
[0059] Fig. 4 is a cross-sectional view similar to Fig. 2, and illustrates an example of a water surface shape of a liquid rotated by a rotating blade. In the following description, reference is made to Figs. 2 and 4 together.
[0060] As the rotary blade (610) rotates around the central axis (CA), a vortex is formed in the liquid (110). As the rotary blade (610) rotates, the height of the water surface (111) of the liquid (110) may rise, and a vortex rotating around the central axis (CA) is formed in the liquid (110). In the liquid (110) in which the vortex is formed, the water surface (111) may take on a roughly V-shape that is concave downward. The rotary blade (610) rotates the liquid (110) so that the water surface (111) of the liquid (110) in which the vortex is formed is positioned close to the tip of the discharge electrode (510) but does not contact each other. Since a vortex is formed in the liquid (110) and the water surface (111) of the liquid (110) changes from a flat shape to a concave shape downward, the contact area between the air containing pollutants and the water surface (111) of the liquid (110) increases. That is, as the rotary blade (610) rotates, the water surface (111) can have an increased contact area, and the collection efficiency of pollutants can be further increased. In addition, since the liquid (110) in which the vortex is formed can wash the dust collection tank (100), the internal contamination of the dust collection tank can be reduced, and the formation of scale in the dust collection tank due to collected pollutants can be prevented. In addition, the water surface (111) of the liquid (110) can be reformed, and an electrical short circuit between the discharge electrode and the liquid due to pollutants can be prevented.
[0061] An air purifier (10) of one embodiment includes a rotary motor (620) configured to rotate a rotary blade (610). In some embodiments, the air purifier (10) may not have a rotary motor (620) for rotating the rotary blade (610). The rotary motor (620) is installed in the housing (200) and may be directly or indirectly connected to the rotary blade (610). The rotational axis of the rotary motor (620) and the rotational axis of the rotary blade (610) may be directly connected. In this case, either the rotational axis of the rotary motor (620) or the rotational axis of the rotary blade (610) may pass through the bottom wall (121) of the dust collecting tank (100), and a sealing member for preventing leakage of liquid may be interposed between the rotational axis and the bottom wall (121) of the dust collecting tank. The rotational axis of the rotary motor (620) and the rotational axis of the rotary blade (610) may be separated from each other, and the rotational power of the rotary motor (620) may be transmitted to the rotary blade (610) in a non-contact manner. In this case, a rotational axis penetrating the bottom wall (121) of the dust collection tank (100) and a sealing member therefor are not required, and leakage of liquid can be prevented.
[0062] Fig. 5 is an enlarged cross-sectional view showing the rotary blade and rotary motor shown in Fig. 2. In the following description, Fig. 2 and Fig. 5 are referred to together.
[0063] The inner housing (220) has a motor receiving portion (223) that is concavely formed downward from the bottom wall (222). A rotary motor (620) is installed in the motor receiving portion (223) of the inner housing (220). The bottom wall (121) of the dust collecting tank (100) is closed, and a support shaft (123) protrudes from the bottom wall (121). A base portion (611) of a rotary blade (610) is coupled to the support shaft (123) so as to rotate around the support shaft (123). The rotary motor (620) has a drive plate (622) that is coupled to an end of the rotation shaft (621) and has a disc shape. The drive plate (622) may have approximately the size of the base portion (611) of the rotary blade.
[0064] The driving plate (622) is configured to rotate the rotary blade (610) by magnetic force. In order to rotate the rotary blade (610) accompanying the rotation of the driving plate (622), the driving plate (622) may have a plurality of magnets (623) arranged spaced apart from each other in the circumferential direction, and the rotary blade (610) may have a plurality of metal parts (613) corresponding to the magnets (623) on the base portion (611). Alternatively, the base portion (611) of the rotary blade (610) may have a plurality of magnets (623) arranged spaced apart from each other in the circumferential direction, and the driving plate (622) may have a plurality of metal parts (613) corresponding to the plurality of magnets, respectively. Alternatively, a plurality of pairs of magnets facing each other in the vertical direction may be installed on the driving plate (622) and the base portion (611). Accordingly, the rotational power of the rotational motor (620) can be transmitted to the rotational blade (610) by the magnetic interaction between the driving plate (622) and the base (611), and the rotational blade (610) separated from the rotational motor (620) can be rotated by the rotation of the rotational motor (620).
[0065] An air purifier (10) of one embodiment may include a grounding member (130) installed in a housing (200) and configured to ground a dust collecting tank (100). Referring to FIG. 2, the grounding member (130) may be installed in the inner housing (220) such that its ground terminal protrudes from the exposure opening (221) toward the dust collecting tank (100). The grounding terminal of the grounding member (130) contacts the surface of the dust collecting tank (100). Specifically, the grounding member (130) is positioned such that the grounding terminal contacts a vicinity of the bottom wall (121) of the dust collecting tank (100). As another example, the grounding member (130) may be installed in the inner housing (220) such that the grounding terminal contacts the lower surface of the bottom wall (121) of the dust collecting tank (100). By operating the air purifier (10), the liquid (110) is charged by the charging unit (520), but the dust collection tank (100) is grounded by the ground unit (130), thereby improving safety for the user.
[0066] The charging unit (520) for charging the liquid (110) and the grounding unit (130) for grounding the dust collecting tank (100) are separated vertically. For example, the charging unit (520) may be located above the grounding unit (130). In addition, the charging unit (520) and the grounding unit (130) may be arranged in the dust collecting tank (100) to be electrically separated. In this regard, a part of the dust collecting tank (100) may be made of a non-conductive material. For example, the dust collecting tank (100) may include a non-conductive material on its inner surface or outer surface, and the non-conductive material may be formed as a part of the dust collecting tank or may be coated on the inner surface or outer surface of the dust collecting tank.
[0067] When the air purifier (10) is operated, pollutants are ionized by the discharge of the discharge electrode (510) and the liquid (110) is charged by the charging unit (520). In addition, a vortex is formed in the liquid (110) in the dust collection tank by the rotating blade (610). The discharge electrode (510) is charged with (+) polarity, and a (+) polarity discharge is performed, and the pollutants are ionized into positive ions. For example, the (+) polarity discharge can last for several microseconds, and the duration of the state in which the pollutants are ionized into positive ions can be very short. Therefore, when the air purifier (10) is operated, it is important to maintain an appropriate distance between the discharge electrode (510) and the water surface (111) of the liquid.
[0068] As the air purifier (10) operates for a predetermined period of time, the height of the water surface (111) of the liquid (110) decreases due to a natural vaporization phenomenon occurring in the liquid (110). In such a case, an appropriate distance between the discharge electrode (510) and the water surface (111) is not maintained but increases, so that the ionized pollutants are not smoothly guided to the liquid (110), and the dust collection performance may deteriorate. In this regard, the air purifier (10) according to one embodiment is configured to maintain a distance between the water surface (111) of the liquid and the discharge electrode (510), that is, so that the distance is within a predetermined distance range. The distance may mean the shortest distance between the water surface (111) of the liquid (110) in which a vortex is formed and the discharge electrode (510), as shown by the symbol SD in FIG. 4. For example, the predetermined distance range may be 3 cm to 4 cm, but may vary depending on factors such as the power applied to the discharge electrode, the volume of the liquid, the size of the dust collection tank, etc.
[0069] According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, in order to maintain the separation distance within the predetermined distance range, the evaporation of the liquid within the dust collection tank can be suppressed, thereby minimizing changes in the liquid level. For example, the liquid for collecting pollutants can contain an additive such as salt to have a low evaporation rate. As another example, the liquid for collecting pollutants can be cooled, and a cooler for cooling the liquid can be installed in the housing so as to be in contact with the dust collection tank.
[0070] According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, the operation of maintaining the separation distance within the predetermined distance range can be realized by a method of adjusting the separation distance by increasing the rotation speed of the liquid (110) as the liquid level (height of the water surface (111) with respect to the bottom wall (121) of the dust collection tank) of the liquid (110) decreases, a method of adjusting the separation distance by supplying supplementary liquid to the dust collection tank (100) so that the liquid level (110) is maintained at a constant height, a method of adjusting the separation distance by moving the discharge electrode (510) and the discharge electrode (510), a method of adjusting the separation distance by moving the exhaust pipe (420) in which the discharge electrode (510) is arranged, etc. In addition, a water level detection sensor configured to detect the liquid level (110) is employed in the air purifier (10), and the separation distance can be adjusted based on a signal from the sensor. Additionally, the above-described methods may be automatically executed by control of a control unit installed inside the air purifier (10).
[0071] In one embodiment, the rotary motor (620) for rotating the rotary blade (610) is configured to change its rotational speed. Specifically, referring to FIG. 4, the rotary motor (620) is configured to change its rotational speed so that the separation distance (SD) is within the predetermined distance range. As the level of the liquid (110) decreases due to the operation of the air purifier (10), the rotary motor (620) can increase its rotational speed. A vortex with a faster speed can be formed in the liquid (110), and the level of the liquid (110) can increase as the speed of the vortex increases. Accordingly, the separation distance (SD) can be maintained within the predetermined distance range.
[0072] The air purifier (10) may include a control unit that controls components belonging to its operating unit. The control unit may include a processing processor and various electrical and electronic components, and may be installed inside the housing (200) or outside the housing (200). The control unit may be connected to a power source for driving components of the operating unit of the air purifier. The control unit may be configured to control the operation of the air supply unit, the operation of the discharge electrode, the operation of the charging unit, the operation of the rotation motor, etc. Fig. 6 is a block diagram schematically illustrating the configuration of the operating unit of the air purifier according to one embodiment including the control unit. In the following description, reference will be made to Figs. 4 and 6 together.
[0073] The control unit (700) is configured to control the rotation motor (620). The rotation motor (620) is configured to detect the rotation speed of the rotation shaft (621) of the rotation motor and transmit the detected rotation speed to the control unit (700). In this regard, the rotation motor (620) may have a sensor or encoder for detecting the rotation speed of the rotation shaft (621). The control unit (700) may store a reference rotation speed of the rotation motor (620) at which the separation distance (SD) is maintained within the predetermined distance range. When the liquid level is lowered by the operation of the air purifier, the control unit (700) may compare the reference rotation speed with the detected rotation speed and control the rotation motor (620) so that higher power is applied to the rotation motor (620). For example, the control unit (700) may increase the rotation speed of the rotation motor (620) to increase the level of the liquid (110) so that the separation distance (SD) is maintained within the predetermined distance range based on the result of the comparison.
[0074] For example, a liquid whose volume is reduced by evaporation applies a reduced load to the rotary blade. Since the rotary motor (620) is supplied with power to rotate the rotary shaft (621) at the reference rotation speed, in a state where the volume of the liquid is reduced and the load is reduced accordingly, the detected rotation speed for the rotary shaft (621) of the rotary motor (620) may be greater than the reference rotation speed. Therefore, when the control unit (700) determines that the detected rotation speed is greater than the reference rotation speed, the control unit (700) may control the rotary motor (620) to rotate at a higher rotation speed than the detected rotation speed by increasing the power supplied to the rotary motor (620) than the power applied according to the reference rotation speed so that the rotary blade (610) rotates at a faster speed to increase the liquid level.
[0075] The air purifier may include a level detection sensor configured to detect the level of a liquid, and the control unit of the air purifier may maintain the separation distance based on a detection signal from the level detection sensor. Fig. 7 is a block diagram schematically illustrating the configuration of an operating unit of an air purifier according to one embodiment, including a control unit and a level detection sensor. In the following description, reference will be made to Figs. 4 and 7 together.
[0076] The water level detection sensor (810) is configured to detect the water level of the liquid (110) and transmit a detection signal to the control unit (700). The control unit (700) is configured to adjust the separation distance (SD) so that the separation distance (SD) is maintained within the predetermined distance range based on the detection signal from the water level detection sensor (810). The water level detection sensor (810) may be installed in the dust collection tank (100) or in the housing (200) above the dust collection tank (100). For example, the water level detection sensor (810) may be, but is not limited to, a sensor that measures the amount of the liquid (110) by a change in electrical resistance, a sensor that measures the separation distance (SD) by microwave pulses, ultrasonic waves, infrared rays, etc., or a sensor that detects the water level of the liquid using a float.
[0077] For example, the control unit (700) can adjust the separation distance (SD) by changing the rotation speed of the rotation motor (620). The control unit (700) is configured to remember the reference level of the liquid (110) where the separation distance (SD) is within the predetermined distance range, compare the detection signal from the level detection sensor (810) with the reference level, and control the rotation motor (620) to increase the rotation speed of the rotation motor (620) when the level according to the detection signal is lower than the reference level. In addition, the control unit (700) can be configured to decrease the rotation speed of the rotation motor (620) so that the separation distance (SD) is within the predetermined distance range when the level according to the detection signal is higher than the reference level.
[0078] The air purifier can maintain the above-mentioned distance by replenishing the liquid in the dust collection tank with a pump based on a detection signal from a water level detection sensor. Fig. 8 is a block diagram schematically illustrating the configuration of the operating unit of an air purifier according to one embodiment of replenishing the liquid in the dust collection tank with a pump. The following description refers to Figs. 4 and 8 together.
[0079] The air purifier (10) may include a replenishment tank (821) for receiving a replenishment liquid for replenishing a liquid (110) in a dust collection tank (100), and a pump (822) configured to supply the replenishment liquid of the replenishment tank (821) to the dust collection tank (100) and controlled by a control unit (700). The liquid (110) of the dust collection tank (100) and the replenishment liquid of the replenishment tank (821) may be the same liquid. The control unit (700) may be configured to control the pump (822) so that a separation distance (SD) is maintained within the predetermined distance range. In detail, the control unit (700) can compare a detection signal from a water level detection sensor (810) with the reference water level, and if the water level according to the detection signal is lower than the reference water level, the pump (822) can be controlled so that the pump (822) supplies the replenishment liquid in the replenishment tank (821) to the dust collection tank (100). In addition, after the operation of the pump (822), if the water level according to the detection signal approaches the reference water level, the control unit (700) can stop the operation of the pump (822).
[0080] For example, the replenishment tank (821) may be separated from the dust collection tank (100) and may be disposed in the housing (200) or in a separate housing different from the housing (200), and the replenishment tank (821) and the dust collection tank (100) may be connected to each other through a connecting pipe (823) in which a pump (822) is disposed. As another example, the dust collection tank (100) may be configured to have a first portion that receives a liquid (110) that collects pollutants and in which a vortex is formed in the liquid (110), and a second portion that receives the replenishment liquid and surrounds or is coupled to the first portion, formed integrally. In this example, one dust collection tank may be formed as a dual structure having a portion that receives the liquid (110) that collects pollutants and a portion that receives the replenishment liquid.
[0081] The air purifier can maintain the above-mentioned separation distance by replenishing the liquid in the dust collection tank using osmotic pressure based on the detection signal from the water level detection sensor. Fig. 9 is a block diagram schematically illustrating the configuration of the operating unit of an air purifier according to one embodiment configured to replenish the liquid in the dust collection tank using osmotic pressure. The following description refers to Figs. 4 and 9 together.
[0082] The air purifier (10) may include a replenishment tank (831) that accommodates a replenishment liquid having a concentration different from that of a liquid (110) in a dust collection tank (100), a connection portion (832) that connects the dust collection tank (100) and the replenishment tank (831), a semi-permeable membrane (833) installed in the connection portion (832), and a valve (834) that is installed in the connection portion (832) and is configured to open and close the connection portion (832) and is controlled by a control portion (700). The liquid (110) in the dust collection tank (100) and the replenishment liquid in the replenishment tank (831) may be the same liquid with different concentrations.
[0083] The control unit (700) may be configured to control the valve (834) so that the separation distance (SD) is maintained within the predetermined distance range. Specifically, the control unit (700) may compare a detection signal from a water level detection sensor (810) with the reference water level, and if the water level according to the detection signal is lower than the reference water level, the valve (834) may be controlled so that the valve (834) opens the connection portion (832). For example, if the concentration of the replenishing liquid is higher than the concentration of the liquid (110) in the dust collection tank (100), the liquid (110) in the dust collection tank (100) may be replenished by osmotic pressure as the valve (834) is opened. As another example, when the concentration of the replenishment liquid is lower than the concentration of the liquid (110) in the dust collection tank (100), the liquid (110) in the dust collection tank (100) may be replenished by reverse osmosis upon opening the valve (834). In this example, pressure may be applied to the replenishment liquid in the replenishment tank (831) for reverse osmosis. After the valve (834) is operated, when the water level according to the detection signal approaches the reference water level, the control unit (700) may control the valve (834) to close the connection unit (832).
[0084] For example, the replenishment tank (831) may be separated from the dust collection tank (100) and may be disposed in the housing (200) or in a separate housing different from the housing (200), and the replenishment tank (831) and the dust collection tank (100) may be connected to each other through a connection portion (832) in which a semi-permeable membrane (833) and a valve (834) are disposed. As another example, the dust collection tank (100) may be configured to have a first portion that receives a liquid (110) that collects pollutants and in which a vortex is formed in the liquid (110), and a second portion that receives the replenishment liquid having a concentration different from that of the liquid (110) and surrounds or is coupled to the first portion, formed integrally. In this example, one dust collection tank may be formed as a dual structure having a portion that receives the liquid (110) that collects pollutants and a portion that receives the replenishment liquid.
[0085] In another embodiment, the dust collection tank (100) and the replenishment tank (831) may be connected through a connection portion (832) having only a valve (834), and the replenishment liquid may be contained in the replenishment tank (831) at a level higher than the level of the liquid (110) in the dust collection tank (100). In this example, to adjust the separation distance, the control unit (700) may control the valve (834) to open and close the connection portion (832), and the liquid (110) in the dust collection tank (100) may be replenished from the replenishment liquid in the replenishment tank (831) by the level difference.
[0086] In another embodiment, a collection tank containing a liquid for collecting pollutants may be configured to change its inner diameter. As the inner diameter of the collection tank narrows, the level of the liquid in which the vortex is formed may increase. For example, the upper portion of the collection tank may be made of a flexible material, such as silicone, and the upper portion of the collection tank may be reduced by the user or the control unit, thereby changing the inner diameter of the collection tank.
[0087] The air purifier can maintain the above-described separation distance by changing the position of the discharge electrode based on the detection signal of the water level detection sensor. Fig. 10 is a block diagram schematically illustrating the configuration of an operating unit of an air purifier according to one embodiment configured to change the position of the discharge electrode. Fig. 11 is a cross-sectional view illustrating a discharge electrode moving unit and an exhaust pipe according to one embodiment. In the following description, reference is made to Figs. 4, 10, and 11 together.
[0088] The control unit (700) may be configured to change the positions of the plurality of discharge electrodes (510). By the control unit (700), the plurality of discharge electrodes (510) may be configured to change their positions with respect to the surface of the liquid (110). To this end, the plurality of discharge electrodes (510) may be configured to be movable up and down with respect to the exhaust pipe (420) so that the separation distance (SD) is maintained within the predetermined distance range.
[0089] In relation to the vertical movement of the discharge electrode, the air purifier (10) may include a discharge electrode support member (431) coupled to the exhaust pipe (420) so as to be able to move up and down along the exhaust pipe, and a discharge electrode moving member (432) configured to elevate the discharge electrode support member (431).
[0090] The discharge electrode (510) is coupled to the discharge electrode support (431) so as to protrude in the outer radial direction (RO) with respect to the central axis (CA) of the exhaust pipe (420) from the discharge electrode support (431). The discharge electrode support (431) has a ring shape and supports the discharge electrode (510). The discharge electrode support (431) may have a predetermined width in the vertical direction so as not to tilt with respect to the exhaust pipe (420). The discharge electrode support (431) may be coupled to the outer circumferential surface of the exhaust pipe (420) so as to be able to move up and down or to slide. As the discharge electrode support (431) moves up and down, the separation distance (SD) may be adjusted to be within the predetermined distance range. In order to minimize friction between the discharge electrode support (431) and the exhaust pipe (420), the discharge electrode support (431) may have rollers on its inner surface, the discharge electrode support (431) may be made of a material exhibiting low friction, or a lubricant such as grease may be applied between the discharge electrode support (431) and the exhaust pipe (420).
[0091] The discharge electrode moving unit (432) is controlled by the control unit (700). When the water level according to the detection signal of the water level detection sensor (810) is lower than the reference water level, the control unit (700) can control the discharge electrode moving unit (432) so that the discharge electrode support unit (431) is lowered by the discharge electrode moving unit (432). Accordingly, the increased separation distance (SD) caused by the water level drop due to evaporation of the liquid can be maintained within the predetermined distance range. When a large amount of liquid (110) is received or replenished into the dust collection tank (100), the separation distance (SD) can be reduced. In this case, the discharge electrode support unit (431) can be raised by the driving of the discharge electrode moving unit (432), and the separation distance (SD) can be maintained within the predetermined distance range.
[0092] The discharge electrode moving part (432) may include a power source (433) and a connecting part (434) connecting the power source (433) and the discharge electrode support part (431). The power source (433) may be an electric motor such as a stepper motor or a DC motor. Alternatively, the power source (433) may be a power generation source such as a biometal, a shape memory alloy, an actuator, or an artificial muscle. The connecting part (434) may be coupled to a rotational shaft or an operating shaft provided in the power source (433).
[0093] For example, the connecting portion (434) may include a rotating body coupled to the rotational axis of the power source (433) and rotated clockwise or counterclockwise by the power source (433), and a wire connecting the rotating body and the discharge electrode support (431). The rotating body may have a cylindrical shape or a ring shape. The upper end of the wire may be coupled to the rotating body, and the lower end of the wire may be coupled to the discharge electrode support (431). A portion including the upper end of the wire may be wound around the rotating body. As the rotating body is rotated by the rotational force of the power source (433), the wire may lower or raise the discharge electrode support (431). Accordingly, the discharge electrode moving portion (432) may be configured to elevate the discharge electrode support (431) by the wire. As another example, the rotating body may be a pulley around which the wire is wound. Additionally, the connecting portion (434) connecting the power source (433) and the discharge electrode support portion (431) may have another lifting structure that does not use wires.
[0094] In another embodiment, a plurality of discharge electrodes (510) may be coupled to the exhaust pipe (420) so as to protrude radially outward from the central axis (CA) of the exhaust pipe (420) and move in the radially outward and radially inward through the exhaust pipe (420). In this example, the inner end of the discharge electrode (510) may be connected to the power source (433) described above, and the degree of protrusion of the discharge electrode (510) may be adjusted by the operation of the power source (433). As the control unit (700) controls the power source (433), the degree of protrusion of the discharge electrode (510) may be changed so that the separation distance may be maintained within the predetermined distance range.
[0095] In another embodiment, the exhaust section (400) may be configured to adjust the separation distance (SD) by moving the exhaust pipe (420) up and down. For example, the exhaust pipe (420) may have a screw thread at the upper end, and the cover section (410) may have a screw thread corresponding to the screw of the exhaust pipe (420). By rotating the exhaust pipe (420) about the central axis (CA), the protruding length of the exhaust pipe (420) with respect to the cover section (410) may be adjusted. Accordingly, when the liquid level (110) in the dust collection tank (100) decreases and the separation distance (SD) changes, the height of the exhaust pipe (420) may be adjusted by rotating the exhaust pipe (420), and the separation distance (SD) may be adjusted. For example, the height adjustment of the exhaust pipe (420) may be performed manually. As another example, a power source and a gear device for rotating the exhaust pipe (420) may be arranged on the upper part of the exhaust pipe (420) and the cover part (410), and the power source may be controlled by the control part to adjust the height of the exhaust pipe.
[0096] Figures 12 to 14 illustrate other examples of discharge electrode arrangements in an air purifier according to one embodiment. In the following description, reference is made to Figures 12 to 14.
[0097] A plurality of discharge electrodes are arranged along the circumference of the exhaust pipe so that they are charged with a polarity opposite to the polarity with which the charging portion charges the liquid. Referring to FIG. 12, a plurality of discharge electrodes (510) are coupled to the exhaust pipe (420) so as to protrude in an oblique direction between the outer radial direction (RO) and the downward direction (UD) from the outer peripheral surface of the exhaust pipe (420). Referring to FIG. 13, a plurality of discharge electrodes (510) are coupled to the dust collecting tank (100) so as to protrude from the side wall (122) of the dust collecting tank (100) toward the lower end of the exhaust pipe (420). The tip end of the discharge electrode (510) may be positioned at the same level as the lower end of the exhaust pipe (420). Referring to FIG. 14, a plurality of discharge electrodes (510) are coupled to the exhaust portion (400), specifically, to the cover portion (410) or the upper end of the exhaust pipe (420), so as to protrude in the downward direction (UD). The discharge electrode (510) is spaced apart from the outer surface of the exhaust pipe (420) in the outer radial direction (RO), and the tip of the discharge electrode (510) may be positioned at the same level as the lower end of the exhaust pipe (420). In the embodiments illustrated in FIGS. 12 to 14, the separation distance between the liquid surface (111) and the discharge electrode (510) can be maintained within the predetermined distance range by the method described above. For example, as described above, the separation distance can be maintained by increasing the rotational speed of the liquid, by supplying replenishing liquid to the dust collection tank, or by moving the discharge electrode.
