[0004] Vinyl cyanide compound-conjugated diene rubber-aromatic vinyl compound graft copolymer (hereinafter referred to as 'ABS resin') is widely used in automobile parts, electrical / electronic products, and office equipment due to its rigidity and chemical resistance of acrylonitrile, secondary processability of butadiene and styrene, mechanical strength, and attractive appearance.

[0005] By introducing methacrylic acid alkyl ester into this ABS resin, it is applied to products that require transparency, but in the case of this transparent ABS resin, there is a problem that whitening occurs due to detergents or disinfectants due to poor chemical resistance.

[0006] Therefore, there is a need to develop a thermoplastic resin composition that can provide transparency while improving chemical resistance to detergents or disinfectants containing alcohol, etc., as a replacement for conventional transparent ABS materials.

[0186] Examples 1 to 3 and Comparative Examples 1 to 8

[0187] The ingredients and contents listed in Table 1 below were fed into a twin-screw extruder. In addition, 0.15 parts by weight of additives 1, 2, and 3 were each fed based on a total of 100 parts by weight of (A-1), (A-2), (B), and (C). Then, pellets were manufactured using a twin-screw extruder at a cylinder temperature of 240°C. Furthermore, specimens were manufactured to measure impact strength and tensile strength by injection molding the manufactured pellets at a barrel temperature of 230°C in an injection molding machine.

[0188] Meanwhile, pellets manufactured as a physical property measurement specimen used for measuring the transparency retention and chemical resistance below were extruded using an extruder under conditions of 220 to 260°C to manufacture an extruded sheet having a width of 13 mm, a length of 80 mm, and a thickness of 3 mm.

[0189]

[0190] [Example Exam]

[0191] The characteristics of the specimens manufactured in Examples 1 to 3 and Comparative Examples 1 to 8 were measured by the following methods, and the results are shown in Table 1 below.

[0192]

[0193] measurement method

[0194] * Transparency maintenance (△Hz): The transparency was calculated as the difference between the transparency measured according to ASTM D1003 after immersing a 3 mm thick sheet in a 70% isopropanol aqueous solution for 24 hours, taking it out, and leaving it for 30 minutes, and the transparency measured according to ASTM D1003 before immersion.

[0195] * Impact strength (kg / cm.cm): Notched Izod impact strength was measured on 1 / 4 inch specimens according to ASTM D256.

[0196] * Chemical Resistance: Using an ESCR (Environmental Stress Cracking Resistance) 1.0% jig, cyclopentane was applied to the extruded pellets for 5 minutes, and then cracking was observed. If no cracks occurred, it was evaluated as "No Cracks," if fine cracks occurred on the sides, it was evaluated as "Micro Cracks," and if multiple horizontal cracks occurred, it was evaluated as "Cracked."

[0197] * Tensile strength (kg / cm.cm): Measured at 50 mm / min according to ASTM D638.

[0198] Classification Example 1 Example 2 Example 3 Comparative Example 1 Comparative Example 2 Comparative Example 3 Comparative Example 4 Comparative Example 5 Comparative Example 6 Comparative Example 7 Comparative Example 8 (A-1) Acrylic graft copolymer 15 20 25 10 30-50 10 25-20 (A-2) Acrylic graft copolymer 35 30 25 40 20 50-30 35 30- (B) Methacrylic acid alkyl ester compound - aromatic vinyl compound - vinyl cyanide compound copolymer 50 50 50 50 50 50 50 60 40 50 50 (C) Diene graft copolymer --------- 20 - (D) Diene graft copolymer --------- 30 Transparency Retention (△Hz) 2.4 2.3 1.8 3.6 1.7 6.9 1.11 31.5 27.8 17.4 Impact strength (kg / cm.cm) 14 12 11 16 8 17 5 11 15 12 18 Chemical resistance No cracks No cracks No cracks No cracks No cracks No cracks No cracks Micro cracks No cracks Cracked Cracked Tensile strength (kg / cm.cm) 3 3 0 3 4 0 3 4 0 3 0 3 7 0 3 1 0 4 2 0 3 8 0 2 7 0 3 4 0 3 4 0

[0199] As shown in Table 1 above, it was confirmed that Examples 1 to 3 according to the present invention had mechanical strengths equal to or greater than those of Examples 1 to 8, but had significantly superior transparency retention and chemical resistance.

[0200] Therefore, when the thermoplastic resin composition according to the present invention is applied to a transparent container or a transparent component for home appliances, it is expected to significantly improve product reliability by securing a balance of physical properties between transparency maintenance and chemical resistance while maintaining mechanical strength.

[0201] On the other hand, in the case of Comparative Example 1, which used an excessive amount of (A-2) acrylic graft copolymer, the transparency was confirmed to be poor compared to Example 1.

[0202] In addition, in the case of Comparative Example 2, where (A-1) acrylic graft copolymer was used in an excessive amount and (A-2) acrylic graft copolymer was used in a small amount, the impact strength was confirmed to be inferior to that of Example 1.

[0203] In addition, in the case of Comparative Example 3, which did not include (A-1) acrylic graft copolymer and used (A-2) acrylic graft copolymer in an excess amount equivalent to the corresponding content, it was confirmed that the transparency was significantly reduced compared to Example 1.

[0204] In addition, in the case of Comparative Example 4, which did not include the (A-2) acrylic graft copolymer and used the (A-1) acrylic graft copolymer in an excess amount, it was confirmed that the impact strength was significantly reduced compared to Example 1.

[0205] In addition, in the case of Comparative Example 5, which used an excessive amount of (B) methacrylic acid alkyl ester compound-aromatic vinyl compound-vinyl cyanide compound copolymer, microcracks were observed compared to Example 1, confirming poor chemical resistance.

[0206] In addition, in the case of Comparative Example 6, which used a small amount of (B) methacrylic acid alkyl ester compound-aromatic vinyl compound-vinyl cyanide compound copolymer, it was confirmed that the tensile strength was significantly poorer than that of Example 1.

[0207] In addition, in the case of Comparative Example 7, which did not include (A-1) acrylic graft copolymer and added (C) diene graft copolymer in the same amount, it was confirmed that the transparency and chemical resistance were significantly poorer than in Example 1, and the impact strength was also reduced.

[0208] In addition, in the case of Comparative Example 8, which did not include (A-1) acrylic graft copolymer and added (D) diene graft copolymer in the same amount, it was confirmed that the transparency and chemical resistance were significantly poorer than in Example 1.

[0209]

[0210] In summary of these results, the thermoplastic resin composition of the present invention is a copolymer of methacrylic acid alkyl ester compound-aromatic vinyl compound-vinyl cyan compound, in which the amount of methacrylic acid alkyl ester compound used is controlled within a predetermined range, and an acrylic graft copolymer having different average rubber particle diameters is blended within a predetermined range, thereby providing transparency equivalent to or higher than that of a conventional transparent ABS resin through a synergistic effect according to the combination thereof, while significantly improving transparency retention and chemical resistance, and thus being suitable for transparent containers that are repeatedly exposed to detergents or disinfectants, or transparent home appliance parts.
