AI Technical Summary
Existing riveting devices for nitric screws and rivet nuts require additional construction space due to the need for a translational movement of the rivet thorn during drilling, which is coupled with the drive train responsible for the translational movement.
The proposed rivet device incorporates a planetary gear system that allows for decoupling of the drilling function from the first drive train, enabling independent operation of the rivet thorn for both translational and rotational movements without additional axial installation space.
This design allows for a compact construction of the rivet device, particularly in the axial direction, by eliminating the need for additional space required for the translational movement of the threaded spindle during drilling, while maintaining the functionality of both drilling and setting operations.

Abstract
Description
[0001] Riveting tool for riveting screws and rivet nuts and method for its operation
[0002] The present disclosure relates to a riveting tool for rivet screws and rivet nuts and in particular to a method for operating such a riveting tool.
[0003] Common riveting tools for rivet screws and rivet nuts usually have a rivet mandrel with a dual function. Firstly, the rivet mandrel is used to compress the rivet body of a rivet screw or rivet nut and in doing so create a closing head. To do this, the rivet mandrel can be moved translationally along an axis of action. The rivet body is then compressed by the rivet mandrel performing a stroke along the axis of action. This stroke is usually referred to as the setting stroke. Secondly, the rivet mandrel can be rotated about the axis of action and has a thread. This enables automatic drilling of the rivet screw or rivet nut onto the rivet mandrel, whereby the rivet mandrel is screwed to the thread of the rivet screw or rivet nut and thus creates a connection necessary for compressing the rivet body.
[0004] A riveting tool of the type discussed here is described in EP 0 670 199 A1. In this riveting tool, the rivet mandrel is coupled to a drive motor via a ball screw drive of a first drive train in order to move the rivet mandrel translationally along the effective axis. A second drive train and a disengageable clutch are provided to set the rivet mandrel in a rotary motion and thus enable drilling.
[0005] The riveting tool described in EP 0 670 199 A1 is designed in such a way that the second drive train is switched to the first drive train via the clutch. The rivet mandrel is set in rotation via the second drive train, but when switched to the first drive train the first drive train must remain in its movement coupling with the drive motor so that power can be transmitted from the drive motor to the second drive train. As a result, in this riveting tool there is a translational movement of the threaded spindle of the ball screw drive even when drilling is carried out. This takes up additional installation space, in particular axial installation space, which must be made available to carry out the usual work sequence in which a rivet screw or rivet nut is first drilled onto the rivet mandrel and then placed on a workpiece.
[0006] Against this background, there is a need to create the technical prerequisites for at least the threading process to be carried out independently of the drive train, which is responsible for the translational movement of the rivet mandrel. This is based on the expectation that such decoupling will allow the riveting tool to be constructed more compactly, particularly in the axial direction.
[0007] In this regard, a riveting device is proposed, comprising a mouthpiece and a rivet mandrel for a rivet screw or a rivet nut, which is designed to be moved relative to the mouthpiece along an effective axis in order to carry out a setting stroke, and which is designed to be moved about the effective axis in order to carry out drilling, and comprising a first drive train for moving the rivet mandrel along the effective axis and a second drive train for moving the rivet mandrel about the effective axis, and furthermore comprising a device housing and a motor, preferably in the device housing, for driving the rivet mandrel via the drive trains, i.e. via the first drive train and / or the second drive train.
[0008] To enable threading decoupled from the first drive train, the proposed riveting tool features a planetary gear. The planetary gear preferably has at least three gear elements, of which a first gear element is assigned to the first drive train and a second gear element to the second drive train, and a third gear element is operatively connected to the motor, in particular is rotationally fixedly connected to the output shaft of the motor.
[0009] In the present disclosure, the term "planetary gear" is to be understood in particular as a gear having a plurality of, in particular at least three, gear elements, of which at least two gear elements are arranged concentrically to one another with respect to a common axis of rotation. In particular, the at least two gear elements, preferably the at least three gear elements, are designed to rotate the common axis of rotation. In the present disclosure, the term "planetary gear" can also be understood as a synonym for the term "planetary gear".
[0010] The gear members are, for example, at least one hollow member, in particular a ring gear, an inner member, in particular an inner gear, arranged therein, and at least one intermediate member arranged between the hollow member and the inner member, which on the one hand, in particular facing radially inwards, is in operative contact with the inner member and on the other hand, in particular facing radially outwards, is in operative contact with the hollow member, in particular acting or can act to transmit rotational movement. For example, the intermediate member is designed so that its outer circumference is in operative contact with the inner member and the hollow member. The intermediate member can also be designed so that its outer circumference is in operative contact with the hollow member and its inner circumference is in operative contact with the inner member. For example, in this case the intermediate member is arranged in a ring shape and / or concentrically to the hollow member and the inner member.
[0011] The term “planetary gear” also includes, for example, a wave gear, for example with a wave generator, a flexspline and a circular spline as gear elements. The term “planetary gear” also includes, for example, a cycloidal gear, for example with at least one eccentric element, in particular an eccentric shaft, a cam disk, a roller disk with rollers engaging in the cam disk and radially outer bolts distributed in a circular arrangement as gear elements.
[0012] A drilling decoupled from the first drive train offers an embodiment of the proposed riveting device in which the planetary gear is designed to be used in a two-shaft operation in which either the first gear element or the second gear element has a driving effect on the associated drive train.
[0013] In this embodiment, the proposed riveting tool can be designed such that the first gear member and the second gear member are rotatable relative to the tool housing in the driving state and can be brought into a non-driving state via at least one switching element, in which a rotationally fixed connection with the tool housing exists, in particular a rotationally fixed connection to the tool housing exists. This facilitates a technically simple construction in order to be able to switch the driving effect back and forth between the first gear member and the second gear member.
[0014] The proposed riveting tool can further be designed such that the first gear member and the second gear member are connected to the tool housing via the switching element in a rotationally fixed manner in the non-driving state, and this rotationally fixed connection is released in the driving state. For this purpose, the switching element can be configured to be switched between a first switching position and a second switching position, wherein in the first switching position the first gear member is in the driving state and the second gear member is in the non-driving state, and in the second switching position the first gear member is in the non-driving state and the second gear member is in the driving state.
[0015] Alternatively, at least two switching elements can be provided. For example, in this case, one of the switching elements is assigned to the first transmission element and another of the switching elements is assigned to the second transmission element, and the switching elements are preferably configured to be switched between two switching positions, wherein in one of the switching positions the associated transmission element is in the driving state and in the other switching position the associated transmission element is in the non-driving state.
[0016] The at least one switching element can be a mechanical, in particular purely mechanical, switching element. The at least one switching element can also be an electromechanical switching element, for example an electromagnetic switching element. In particular, the at least one switching element is a positive-locking switching element which, for example, is present in a positive-locking connection in at least one switching position. For example, a positive-locking connection can be produced between the device housing and an associated gear member via the positive-locking switching element. The switching element can be a component of a switching device. The switching element itself can also be or form a switching device. The proposed riveting tool preferably has a mandrel holder for the rivet mandrel. The mandrel holder is designed, in particular, to be displaced along the effective axis.In one embodiment, the mandrel holder is connected to the rivet mandrel in a displacement-resistant manner, with the rivet mandrel being rotatably mounted in the mandrel holder. This allows the first drive train and the second drive train to act independently of each other on the rivet mandrel. This provides a further measure to enable drilling to be carried out independently of the first drive train.
[0017] The non-displacement connection between the mandrel holder and the rivet mandrel means, in particular, that the non-displacement connection is present at least during one setting stroke of the rivet mandrel. It also means that the non-displacement connection is present at least in one direction along the effective axis, so that a translational movement of the mandrel holder causes a setting stroke of the rivet mandrel.
[0018] The proposed riveting tool can be designed such that the first drive train comprises a spindle gear, in particular a ball screw drive, preferably with a drive-side spindle nut and an output-side threaded spindle, which is connected to the rivet mandrel in a displacement-proof manner and is designed to be moved along the effective axis. This favors a technically simple construction in order to convert the rotary movement of the output shaft of the motor into a translational drive movement, by which the rivet mandrel is moved along the effective axis. For example, the threaded spindle is connected to the rivet mandrel in a displacement-proof manner via the mandrel holder described above.
[0019] The non-displacement connection between the threaded spindle and the rivet mandrel is understood to mean, in particular, that the non-displacement connection is present at least during one setting stroke of the rivet mandrel. It is also understood that the non-displacement connection is present at least in one direction along the effective axis, so that a translational movement of the threaded spindle causes a setting stroke of the rivet mandrel.
[0020] The proposed riveting device can further be designed such that the first drive train comprises a reduction gear, in particular a reduction spur gear, which is interposed between the rivet mandrel or the spindle gear on the one hand and the planetary gear on the other. This promotes a higher drive torque of the motor, especially if the motor is an electric motor.
[0021] The proposed riveting tool can further be designed such that the second drive train comprises a drill shaft arranged coaxially to the effective axis, which is connected to the rivet mandrel in a rotationally fixed manner and is designed to be rotated about the effective axis. This facilitates a simple construction for transmitting the drive force in order to rotate the rivet mandrel about the effective axis. For example, the drill shaft is arranged coaxially to the threaded spindle. For example, the threaded spindle is designed as a hollow spindle, and the drill shaft is rotatably received therein.
[0022] The proposed riveting device can further be designed such that the second drive train comprises at least one intermediate gear, which is interposed between the rivet mandrel or the drill shaft on the one hand, and the planetary gear on the other. The at least one intermediate gear can achieve a reduction or transmission ratio, or a transmission without a reduction or transmission ratio. The at least one intermediate gear also enables the transmission of the drive force over any desired spatial distance between the planetary gear and the rivet mandrel.
[0023] The proposed riveting tool can also be designed such that the planetary gear's transmission axis is arranged parallel to the effective axis. This measure promotes a compact design of the riveting tool, particularly in the axial direction relative to the effective axis.
[0024] The proposed riveting tool can be constructed in different ways with regard to its planetary gearing to achieve drilling decoupled from the first drive train. In one possible embodiment, for example, the first gear element is a planetary gear carrier, the second gear element is a ring gear, and the third gear element is a sun gear.
[0025] Alternatively, the first gear member can be a ring gear, the second gear member a planet gear carrier, and the third gear member a sun gear. Alternatively, the first gear member can be a sun gear, the second gear member a ring gear, and the third gear member a planet gear carrier. Alternatively, the first gear member can be a ring gear, the second gear member a sun gear, and the third gear member a planet gear carrier. Alternatively, the first gear member can be a sun gear, the second gear member a planet gear carrier, and the third gear member a ring gear. Alternatively, the first gear member can be a planet gear carrier, the second gear member a sun gear, and the third gear member a ring gear.
[0026] In the present disclosure, the term "ring gear" is to be understood as an embodiment of the hollow member of the planetary gear train described above. In the present disclosure, the term "sun gear" is to be understood as an embodiment of the inner member of the planetary gear train described above. In particular, the sun gear is arranged with its wheel axis coaxial with the common axis of rotation of the planetary gear train, i.e. its transmission axis. For example, the sun gear is designed to rotate the transmission axis centrally.
[0027] The term "planetary gear carrier" in the present disclosure is to be understood in particular as a carrier for at least one planetary gear. The term "planetary gear" in the present disclosure is to be understood as an embodiment of the intermediate member of the planetary gear train described above. In particular, the at least one planetary gear is arranged with its wheel axis parallel to the gear train axis of the planetary gear train. In particular, the at least one planetary gear is mounted on the planetary gear carrier so as to be rotatable about its wheel axis. In particular, the planetary gear carrier is arranged coaxially to the gear train axis of the planetary gear train. In particular, the planetary gear carrier is designed to be rotated about the gear train axis of the planetary gear train.
[0028] In a further embodiment, the proposed riveting tool is designed as a hand-held riveting tool. For this purpose, the riveting tool can have a handle, which, for example, has a longitudinal extension transverse to the effective axis. For example, the handle is arranged on the tool housing, in particular formed thereon, for example, integrally formed thereon. The handle allows the riveting tool to be held in the hand or guided manually. In particular, the handle enables the riveting tool to be manually applied to a location to be riveted.
[0029] The proposed riveting tool uses a switchable planetary gear system. This enables the setting and drilling functions to be switched between at will, with the associated drive train being able to operate independently of the other drive train depending on the active function. By decoupling the drive trains in this way, the proposed riveting tool enables the drilling function to be performed without any translational movement of the threaded spindle of the riveting tool. This facilitates a compact design of the proposed riveting tool, as additional installation space for a translational movement of the threaded spindle can be saved when performing a drilling process. Thanks to the switchable planetary gear system, it is possible to use just a single drive motor to perform the setting and drilling functions.
[0030] According to one aspect, a method for operating a riveting tool with a setting and drilling function is proposed. The method can, in principle, also be carried out by the riveting tool described above.
[0031] The method includes the step of switching a non-driving gear member of a planetary gear into a driving state and a driving gear member of the planetary gear into a non-driving state by means of at least one switching element in order to deactivate the drilling function and activate the setting function or vice versa in order to deactivate the setting function and activate the drilling function.
[0032] This allows switching between the drilling and setting functions, whereby a different gear element of the planetary gear is driving depending on the activated function. In this way, it is possible to avoid a translatory movement, for example of the threaded spindle of a spindle gear of the riveting device, taking place during a drilling process, since a drive separation is achieved by the two gear elements. In this respect, the method favors a compact design of the proposed riveting device. Further details and features can be found in the following description of several embodiments with reference to the drawings.

[0040] Figure 1 shows, in a simplified representation, the structure of a first exemplary embodiment of a riveting tool 1, which is also referred to in specialist circles as a setting tool. The exemplary riveting tool 1 is suitable for attaching or setting rivet bolts and rivet nuts using the blind riveting method and is therefore designed for use with blind rivet bolts and blind rivet nuts. By way of example, Figure 1 shows the exemplary riveting tool 1 with a drilled blind rivet nut 100.
[0041] The exemplary riveting device 1 comprises, for example, a riveting tool 2 and a drive device 3 for actuating the riveting tool 2. Preferably, the riveting tool 2 is assigned to a tool housing 4, in particular at least partially accommodated therein. Preferably, the drive device 3 is accommodated in a device housing 5. Preferably, the tool housing 4 is supported on the device housing 5 and / or is held thereon. For example, the tool housing 4 is a metal housing. For example, the device housing 5 is a plastic housing.
[0042] The exemplary riveting tool 1 can, for example, be a hand-held riveting tool. For this purpose, the exemplary riveting tool 1 has, for example, a handle part 6 with a handle surface 6.1. For example, the handle part 6 is connected to the tool housing 5, in particular molded thereon, or formed by the tool housing 5. The exemplary riveting tool 1 can be held in the hand by means of the handle part 6 or the handle surface 6.1 when it is applied to a workpiece to insert a rivet. The riveting process as such then takes place by actuating the riveting tool 2 via the drive device 3.
[0043] The exemplary riveting tool 1 preferably has a mouthpiece 10 for application to a workpiece to be riveted. The mouthpiece 10 is preferably fastened to the tool housing 4, for example, screwed thereto. For example, the tool housing 4 has an elongated, in particular tubular, base body. In this respect, the tool housing 4 is also referred to in specialist circles as a setting sleeve. For example, the mouthpiece 10 is fastened to one end of the tool housing 4, and the opposite end faces the tool housing 5.
[0044] The exemplary riveting tool 1 preferably has a rivet mandrel 20 for a rivet screw or a rivet nut. For example, the rivet mandrel 20 is pushed through a through-hole 11 of the mouthpiece 10 and projects with a free end in the axial direction with respect to the effective axis W from the mouthpiece 10. The rivet mandrel 20 is designed to be moved relative to the mouthpiece 10 in the direction of or along an effective axis W in order to carry out a setting stroke. This is done, for example, by the rivet mandrel 20 being displaced, for example pulled, with its free end in the direction of the tool housing 5 relative to the mouthpiece 10. The rivet mandrel 20 is furthermore designed to be moved preferably about the effective axis W in order to carry out drilling.
[0045] The term "drilling" in the present disclosure is to be understood in particular as meaning that a rivet nut or rivet screw is connected to the rivet mandrel 20 in a displacement-proof manner or that the displacement-proof connection is released again. For this purpose, the rivet mandrel 20 uses, for example, the thread of the rivet nut or rivet screw, in that the rivet mandrel 20 has, for example, a corresponding counter-thread 21, for example, is designed as a threaded mandrel. In the embodiment of the rivet mandrel 20 used as an example in Figure 1, the counter-thread 21 is an external thread in order to form the connection with the internal thread of the rivet nut 100.
[0046] In connection with the term "drilling", the terms "drilling on" and "drilling off" are also used in the present disclosure. The term "drilling on" is to be understood as meaning that the rivet mandrel 20 is brought into connection with the rivet nut or rivet screw, in particular a displacement-proof connection. The term "drilling off" is to be understood as meaning that the rivet mandrel 20 is released from the connection with the rivet nut or rivet screw.
[0047] In order to be able to move the rivet mandrel 20 both translationally and rotationally in the manner described above, a mandrel holder 30 is provided, for example. The mandrel holder 30 is, for example, connected to the rivet mandrel 20 in a displacement-resistant manner and is configured to be moved along the effective axis W.
[0048] For example, the mandrel holder 30 is accommodated in the tool housing 4 so as to be displaceable in the direction of the effective axis W. At the same time, the rivet mandrel 20 is rotatably mounted or accommodated in the mandrel holder 30.
[0049] In the exemplary riveting device 1, two drive trains 40, 50 and a motor 60, in particular a single motor 60, are provided. A first drive train 40 has the function of moving the rivet mandrel 20 along the effective axis W. A second drive train 50 has the function of rotating the rivet mandrel 20, in particular moving it around the effective axis W.
[0050] The motor 60 is preferably a rotary motor, which therefore has a rotatable output shaft 61. The motor 60 can be an electric motor. In this case, a preferably replaceable electrical energy storage device, such as a rechargeable battery 7, can be provided to supply electrical energy to the motor 60. This storage device is arranged, for example, in the region of an end of the handle part 6 facing away from the riveting tool 2. In this respect, the exemplary riveting device 1 can be a battery-powered device.
[0051] The mouthpiece 10 and / or the rivet mandrel 20 and / or the mandrel receptacle 30 are, for example, assigned to the riveting tool 2, in particular a component of the riveting tool 2. The first drive train 40 and / or the second drive train 50 and / or the motor 60 are, for example, assigned to the drive device 3, in particular a component of the drive device 3. Preferably, the first drive train 40 and / or the second drive train 50 and / or the motor 60 are accommodated in the device housing 5.
[0052] The first drive train 40 preferably comprises a spindle gear 41, in particular a ball screw drive, with a threaded spindle 41.1 and a spindle nut 41.2. For example, the threaded spindle 41.1 and the spindle nut 41.2 are arranged concentrically with respect to the spindle axis of the threaded spindle 41.1. For example, the spindle axis of the threaded spindle 41.1 lies on the effective axis W. The threaded spindle 41.1 is preferably provided on the output side and the spindle nut 41.2 is provided on the drive side. The spindle nut 41.2 is preferably rotatably mounted in the radial direction with respect to the spindle axis or effective axis W via at least one, preferably two radial bearings 42, 42', for example relative to the device housing 5. The spindle nut 41.1 is preferably 2 is further held in a non-displaceable manner relative to the device housing 5 and / or relative to the tool housing 4.is supported in the axial direction, for example via an axial bearing (not shown in Figures 1 and 2).
[0053] Preferably, the threaded spindle 41.1 faces the rivet mandrel 20 with one end. For example, one end of the threaded spindle 41.1 is connected to the mandrel holder 30 in a displacement-proof manner. Preferably, the threaded spindle 41.1 is secured against rotation relative to the device housing 5 by a torque support (not shown in Figures 1 and 2). Preferably, the threaded spindle 41.1 is designed as a hollow spindle having a passage 43 running in the direction of its longitudinal extent.
[0054] The second drive train 50 preferably comprises a drill shaft 51 which is connected to the rivet mandrel 20 in a rotationally fixed manner and is designed to be rotated about the effective axis W. For this purpose, the drill shaft 51 is rotatably mounted, for example via at least one radial bearing 52, for example relative to the device housing 5. For example, the drill shaft 51 is arranged coaxially to the effective axis W. For example, the drill shaft 51 and the threaded spindle 41.1 are arranged concentrically with respect to the effective axis W, wherein the drill shaft 51 lies, for example, in the passage 43 of the threaded spindle 41.1 designed as a hollow shaft.
[0055] In order to be able to drive-couple the motor 60 with the two drive trains 40, 50, a planetary gear 70 is preferably provided in the device housing 5 in the exemplary riveting device 1, for example. For example, the planetary gear 70 is arranged with its gear axis G parallel to the effective axis W. For a better illustration of the drive trains 40, 50 and the planetary gear 70, Figure 2 shows the exemplary riveting device 1 in the representation according to Figure 1, but in an enlarged section in the area of the drive device 3. For a better illustration, the elements or components of the drive trains 40 and 50 and of the planetary gear 70, which are coaxial to the output shaft 61, are also shown in a simplified manner in Figures 1 and 2 on only one half side of the output shaft 61.In the exemplary riveting tool 1, the planetary gear 70 comprises at least three gear elements, of which a first gear element 71 is assigned to the first drive train 40 and a second gear element 72 to the second drive train 50, and a third gear element 73 is operatively connected to the motor 60. The planetary gear 70 is particularly designed to be used in a two-shaft operation, in which either the first gear element 71 or the second gear element 72 has a driving effect on the associated drive train 40 or 50. This is achieved, for example, in that the first gear element 71 and the second gear element 72 are rotatable relative to the tool housing 5 in the driving state and can be brought into a non-driving state via at least one, for example two switching elements 81, 82, in which a rotationally fixed connection relative to the tool housing 5 exists.
[0056] For example, the switching elements 81, 82 are each assigned to one of the transmission members 71 and 72, in particular, one switching element 81 is assigned to the first transmission member 71 and the other switching element 82 is assigned to the second transmission member 72. For example, the switching elements 81, 82 are designed to be switched between two switching positions, wherein in one of the switching positions the associated transmission member 71 or 72 is in the driving state and in the other switching position the associated transmission member 71 or 72 is in the non-driving state.
[0057] For example, in the non-driving state, the first gear member 71 is connected in a rotationally fixed manner to the device housing 5 or to a component fixed to the device housing 5 via the associated switching element 81. In the driving state, this rotationally fixed connection is released. In the driving state, the first gear member 71 can rotate and, via its rotational movement, act in a driving manner on the spindle gear 41, to which the first gear member 71 is operatively connected.
[0058] For example, in the non-driving state, the second gear member 72 is rotationally fixedly connected to the device housing 5 or to a component that is fixed to the device housing 5, and in the driving state, this rotationally fixed connection is released. In the driving state, the second gear member 72 can rotate and, via its rotational movement, exert a driving effect on the torsion shaft 51, to which the second gear member 72 is operatively connected.
[0059] The first drive train 40 can have a reduction gear 44, which is interposed between the spindle gear 41 and the planetary gear 70. For example, the reduction gear 44 is a spur gear. A further reduction gear 45, for example, a spur gear, can also be provided.
[0060] One possible arrangement is realized in the exemplary riveting device 1. There, for example, the first gear member 71 is connected in a rotationally fixed manner via an intermediate shaft 46 to a first gear wheel 44.1 of the reduction gear 44. A second gear wheel 44.2 of the reduction gear 44 is connected in a rotationally fixed manner to a further intermediate shaft 47, wherein a first gear wheel 45.1 of the further reduction gear 45 is connected in a rotationally fixed manner to the further intermediate shaft 47. A second gear wheel 45.2 of the further reduction gear 45 is, for example, connected in a rotationally fixed manner to the spindle nut 41.2, in particular is formed onto the spindle nut 41.2.
[0061] The second drive train 50 can have an intermediate gear 53, which is interposed between the torque shaft 51 and the planetary gear 70. The intermediate gear 53 can be a gear without a transmission or reduction ratio. The intermediate gear 53 can also be a reduction gear or a transmission gear. A further intermediate gear 54 can also be provided.
[0062] One possible arrangement is realized in the exemplary riveting tool 1. There, for example, the second gear member 72 is connected in a rotationally fixed manner via an intermediate shaft 55 to a first gear wheel 53.1 of the intermediate gear 53. A second gear wheel 53.2 of the intermediate gear 53 is connected in a rotationally fixed manner to a further intermediate shaft 56 or is rotatably mounted thereon. For example, the second gear wheel 53.2 of the intermediate gear 53 simultaneously forms a first gear wheel 54.1 of the further intermediate gear 54. A second gear wheel 54.2 of the further intermediate gear 54 is in turn connected in a rotationally fixed manner to the drilling shaft 51. By means of the planetary gear 70 and the switching elements 81 and 82, the exemplary riveting tool 1 can be switched between a drilling function and a setting function. For example, when the drilling function is activated, the drive movement of the motor 60 is used to rotate the rivet mandrel 20, preferably without causing the rivet mandrel 20 and / or the threaded spindle 41. 1 to move translationally. For example, when the setting function is activated, the drive movement of the motor 60 is used to move the rivet mandrel 20 translationally, preferably without causing the rivet mandrel 20 to rotate.
[0063] The exemplary riveting device 1 can, for example, have the following mode of operation: In an initial state, the drilling function is activated in the exemplary riveting device 1.
