Abstract

This disclosure describes procedures for UE and network on initial access, to ensure the normal operation of system and to obtain high energy efficiency and obtain high access reliability. Consider power efficiency, wide and narrow beams are considered in NTN systems to achieve more efficient DL / UL transmission scheduling. However, there may be EIRP split issue for beam differentiation. For example, 50%EIRP are allocated for wide beam and 50%EIPR are allocated for narrow beam, then there may be -3db loss compared with no EIRP split. In view of mentioned issue, novel schemes for Synchronization signal and PBCH design in NTN are mentioned in this patent.

Description

SYNCHRONIZATION SIGNAL AND PBCH DESIGN IN NTNFIELD

[0001] This disclosure relates generally to wireless communications, and, more particularly, to methods and apparatus about Synchronization signal and PBCH design in NTN.BACKGROUND

[0002] In scenarios with mobile transfer or network, such as the NTN, in order to ensure normal system operation, UE may need to access successfully to the network, methods for Synchronization signal and PBCH design in NTN are needed.SUMMARY

[0003] Consider power efficiency, wide and narrow beams are considered in NTN systems to achieve more efficient DL / UL transmission scheduling. In NTN (Non-Terrestrial Network) system, there may be thousands of narrow beams in NTN for certain coverage and consisting of hundreds of wide beams. However, there may be EIRP split issue for beam differentiation. For example, 50%EIRP are allocated for wide beam and 50%EIPR are allocated for narrow beam, then there may be -3db loss compared with no EIRP split. For above issues, to obtain high energy efficiency and obtain high access reliability, the invention designs methods for Synchronization signal and PBCH pattern in NTN, so that ensure normal system operation. The concepts and methods can also apply to NR (new radio access technology, or 5G technology) , 6G or other radio access technology.

[0004] In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may be a UE. The UE receives SSB. The UE decodes MIB and SIB.

[0005] To the accomplishment of the foregoing and related ends, the one or more aspects comprise the features hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the claims. The following description and the annexed drawings set forth in detail certain illustrative features of the one or more aspects. These features are indicative, however, of but a few of the various ways in which the principles of various aspects may be employed, and this description is intended to include all such aspects and their equivalents.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0007] Figure 2 is a diagram illustrating examples of options in Alternative 1.

[0008] Figure 3 is a diagram illustrating examples of options in Alternative 2.

[0009] Figure 4 is a diagram illustrating examples of options in Alternative 3.DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0010] The detailed description set forth below in connection with the appended drawings is intended as a description of various configurations and is not intended to represent the only configurations in which the concepts described herein may be practiced. The detailed description includes specific details for the purpose of providing a thorough understanding of various concepts. However, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that these concepts may be practiced without these specific details. In some instances, well known structures and components are shown in block diagram form in order to avoid obscuring such concepts.

[0011] Several aspects of telecommunication systems will now be presented with reference to various apparatus and methods. These apparatus and methods will be described in the following detailed description and illustrated in the accompanying drawings by various blocks, components, circuits, processes, algorithms, etc. (collectively referred to as “elements” ) . These elements may be implemented using electronic hardware, computer software, or any combination thereof. Whether such elements are implemented as hardware or software depends upon the particular application and design constraints imposed on the overall system.

[0012] In scenarios with mobile transfer or network, such as NTN system, initial access is essential. At present, there may be thousands of narrow beams in NTN for certain coverage and consisting of hundreds of wide beams. However, current SSB design for initial access doesn’t consider the following issues with multi beams: SSB repetition when DL power is limited for wide beams or legislation, Lmax is extended with more beams, New SSB pattern for initial access and connected mode in NTN. To obtain high energy efficiency and obtain high access reliability, the detailed methods for SSB in initial access procedures considering above issues need to be designed.

[0013] NTN refers to a network that uses radio frequency and information processing resources carried on high, medium and low orbit satellites or other high-altitude communication platforms to provide communication services for UEs. According to the load capacity on the satellite, there are two typical scenarios: transparent payload and regenerative payload. The transparent payload mode means that the satellite will not process the signal and waveform in the communication service, but only forward the data as an RF amplifier. Regenerative payload mode refers to the satellite, besides RF amplification, also has the processing capabilities of modulation / demodulation, coding / decoding, switching, routing and so on.

[0014] This invention is motivated by, but not limited to, an NTN scenario. In such a scenario, there may be EIRP split issue for beam differentiation and novel schemes for Synchronization signal and PBCH design in NTN are designed.

[0015] PSS repetition are needed when DL power is limited for wide beams or legislation. Two options can be considered for PSS repetition:

[0016] Option 1:

[0017] ·PSS sequences are repeated in sequential symbols

[0018] ·Pros: quick cell search for N_ID (2) , low cell search complexity and low buffer size for PSS detection window, small timing drift in PSS detection window, frequency estimation

[0019] ·Cons: incompatible with existing standards if repetition number>2

[0020] Option 2:

[0021] ·PSS sequences are repeated with offset

[0022] ·Pros: easy to be compatible with existing standards

[0023] ·Cons: long cell search for N_ID (2) delay, high cell search complexity and high buffer size for PSS detection window, large timing drift in PSS detection window

[0024] More specifically, we propose to consider the following alternatives:

[0025] Alternative#1: 2 PSS repetition

[0026] Option 1: One SS / PBCH blocks (SSB) consist of 4 symbols, 2 subsequential PSS repetition and 2 PBCH, where PSS are occupied in the first and second symbols, the two PBCH occupied in the third and fourth symbols can be repeated PBCH or one PBCH occupy two symbols. Different SSB utilize different SSB index to indicate different wide beams.

[0028] Option 3: One SS / PBCH blocks (SSB) consist of 4 symbols, 2 subsequential PSS repetition and 1 PBCH and 1 SSS, where PSS are occupied in the first and second symbols, SSS is occupied in the third symbol, PBCH is occupied in the fourth symbol. Different SSB utilize different SSB index to indicate different wide beams.

[0029] Option 4: One SS / PBCH blocks (SSB) consist of 4 symbols, where PSS are occupied in the first and third symbols, 2 PSS repetition and 2 PBCH, where the two PBCH occupied in the second and fourth symbols can be repeated PBCH or one PBCH occupy two symbols. Different SSB utilize different SSB index to indicate different wide beams.

[0033] Note 2: Lmax can be 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 64, 128, 256. The maximum number of candidate SSBs (Lmax) within an SS burst set (in one periodicity) depends upon the carrier frequency / band and subcarrier spacing and NTN / TN differentiation.

[0034] Note 3: The SSB periodicity can be predefined value for initial access, e.g. 10ms or 20ms.

[0035] Note 3: SSB pattern can be predefined for initial access based on at least one of the following: subcarrier spacing of SSB, carrier frequency, NTN / TN differentiation as illustrated in table 1 as one example. SSB pattern can be configured or updated by MAC CE / RRC / SIB / MIB. Quick differentiation between TN and NTN system with different Synchronization signal and PBCH design during initial access. For example, specific PSS repetition pattern design for NTN system, UE can distinguish NTN system by PSS detection. If UE detects the specific PSS repetition pattern, e.g. 4 sequential PSS in time domain, UE can identify NTN system immediately before NTN specific SIB or SIB1, where different pattern can be utilized for different SCS, carrier frequency.
